which soulmate bond i'd want: not the bakugou-pain bond, bc i don't get into physical alterations with anyone. names or first words aren't too fun but are very safe. i have a lot of tummy issues, so i wouldn't want to share that pain with anyone. i really like the idea of aizawa's, esp. the pink marks, but shifting while driving could be deadly--same with dabi's bond. honestly lol i think i like thinking about aizawa's the most, but in reality i'd like the one with tomura, because then we'd always be able to find everything.

huh! i wouldn't say there are other characters i could see a route for and didn't want to write. heck, i was gonna stop the series with shinsou, and because i got ideas, we have three extra routes. there is a type of soulmate bond that i was entertaining the idea of but haven't utilised--i was considering making reader and love interest suddenly have ABO statuses. and like. they are the only people in the world with ABO statuses. i was thinking about the shame around being biologically fated to be extremely sexual--in a way that's perverse to the rest of the world--and have them have to sneak around and try to suppress their new urges, and stuff--because it would be a world where 1) they didn't grow up with ABO stuff, so it's like a horrible second puberty with no answers anywhere, and 2) it's worse bc no one but each other can relate to what they're going through. and then some sexy, sexy doubts about whether or not they actually are soulmates, because wouldn't they be acting this way around any other alpha/omega?? (no 💚) and i figured while i think that's a fun setup, i think it could still stand by itself in a separate fic, with, perhaps, a pair of late bloomers dealing with ABO stuff for the first time.

re: vignettes. i already have the ideas for touya's vignette; he's what inspired me to write little epilogues. i don't have ideas for shinsou/reader's vignette yet, but i think i like writing their dynamic the most, because they pay so much attention to each other and try to do the best they can to care for each other. and that's interesting to me, because they still manage to misunderstand each other.

oh dear GOD i don't think there's direct comparisons with this route and previous routes. it's meant to be very different from the others. uh. i think, maybe, the most callbacks are to tomura's route, mostly bc i want to Establish that He Is Doing Okay. and for nasty evil foreshadowing reasons in tomura's route 😈

Disclaimer: If you asked me the same question next week I would probably have a different answer. I’ve written a lot, and I love a lot of them.

Anyway anyway, trying to go back to some of the early stuff:

My Adventure – First! Fanfic! Ever! Belladonna Took, one of the three remarkable daughters of the Great Took, deserved to have an adventure of her very own. I remember getting buried very deep in the lore to write this, and I absolutely loved the chapter where ancient tales of the Silmarillion get filtered through the POV of a very young hobbit. And the poetry I wrote for it still delights me. 

The Girl Who Was A Cherry Tree – so for a while I was really into xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles and then I was really into CLAMP in general, and this was some of the fruit of that obsession. CLAMP always seem at their best when there’s a corpse under the cherry tree and I leaned into that when I gave Clone!Sakura her happy ending.

Never A Love Story – also had a hyperfixation on The Musketeers for a while, a real good time. I tried filling two prompts on the kink meme at the same time and ended up with a fairly complex exploration of gender roles with girl!d’Artagnan-who-wants-to-be-a-soldier and deep-in-salon-culture-Aramis mentoring her. And… lots of questions of identity and doing right by ourselves and each other. And I had a lot of fun with it in general. They had a very non-standard love story, but they did very much love, and I’m at peace with that.

And Blue-Bleak Embers – Nirvana in Fire AU where Prince Yu funks out of waging the rebellion and spends the next few months as an idle prince always knocking on Mei Changsu’s door, even as Mei Changsu is quietly dying. And it’s a peaceful fic, and objectively a happier ending – no-one died in the rebellion and Da Liang wasn’t so weak by the end that it seemed ripe for invasion, that’s a happy ending, right? – but in this version Jingyan doesn’t get that boost to his career from being a war hero and he just. He just takes too long to get the court case started and MCS never sees his justice. It’s gentle and bittersweet and a bit raw – the companionship of two people who have both mauled the other and don’t see any point in putting up masks anymore.

Slice of Life – Pretty much my ship manifesto for Wu Xie/Hei Xiazi, I think. Vignettes from their training relationship! I loved how all the scenes mirrored each other in the end, and Hei Xiazi’s clinical eye on his student, even as he breaks bones and navigates weird night-time conversations and enacts the greatest kindness he can: teaching Wu Xie that people he trusts can hurt him. Another fic that’s very bittersweet and raw, I think.

I read bdsm classic The Story of O here are my thoughts

I can't tell if the writing is bad and overly florid, or if the translation is poor, or if french is just like that and the translator was merely doing their most faithful possible job, but the book read like the kind of overly detailed little vignettes this girl that i knew in high school would write. she'd describe these opulent rooms and articles of clothing in immense detail and then nothing would happen in the story at all.

After I got used to the ornamental prose and went along for the ride without fussing too much about not always being able to picture the furniture and bespoke outfits she put so much effort into describing, I started enjoying myself. it's a quick read, but lush with detail and low on backstory, so taking it in is a bit like riding down a lazy river in an inner tube and watching the foiliage pass you by. which is not so bad an experience.

One linguistic quirk of the writing I did like was always describing men as plunging into O's "belly". There's no vagina, cunt, etc in this book, the author only talks about her getting her belly opened up or the little knot of pleasure at the dividing point of her belly, and that's actually very sexy to me for some reason and kind of a nice, visceral alternative to other anatomical terms

I really struggled to picture the labia piercing and series of interlocking rings/chains that O receives later in the book. The signet ring she first wears on her fingers is hard to picture too, and unfortunately the "ring of O" style that has become popularized in bdsm fashion today is not quite what the author described, so it's very hard to google. as an aesthetic choice the change has probably been for the best.

I expected the book to be a lot more degrading and filled with anguish than it actually was. I'd always heard that the book was all about O's deep love for Rene, and how that love got twisted and used against her, and how she ultimately chooses to die rather than to be left behind by her master or whatever, but that really is not the case. Firstly because the death chapter (which comes seemingly out of nowhere) is removed from most versions of the book, and second because at every turn we have it described to us just how much O loves being fucked and debased, and how even being passed on by her lover to a new owner gives her an immense thrill.

The book is also a lot queerer than I would have imagined, and while I've heard lots of people complain about how heteronormative it is, I found it perfectly easy to enjoy and imagine myself inhabiting. O herself is queer and the way the book describes the differences between how she relates to men sexually compared to how she relates to women is something that I imagine a lot of s-leaning, versatile bisexual women could probably relate to, but feel like they're usually not permitted to acknowledge. I liked that O had some androgyny to her and that she got off on giving other women pleasure just for it's own sake.

Even more than O, my god did I love Jacqueline. She's a spacy, haughty, attractive, selfish, icy hot little fashion bitch with the comfortable entitlement of a house cat and I just lit up with excitement and recognition every time her cruel self absorbed little ass was on the page. Sexually ascended Betty Draper. we love it.

The book's priorities are so funny, clearly because like my old high school buddy's manuscripts, it was written in one big burst of imagination with very little editing or forethought. the author devotes more space to discussing how clothing needs to be retailored than she does belaboring the actual details of the sex.

The actual fucking is almost perfunctorily described: the details are all about how legs were positioned and which holes were used and by whom and no orgasms are really named, except for when O is jerking her female friends off to climax when they're cuddling in bed together. In some ways I prefer how dispassionate the book is about the sex, it makes O's ownership even more dehumanizing and it really does kind of nail the floaty, far away headspace you can sometimes get in after being used by a ton of people.

I wish I could more fully understand just how inventive this book was for its time. To what extent did straight people know about lifestyle kink dynamics? Rectal dilators had existed since the 1800s and humans had been making dildos for millennia before that, but did this book introduce a lot of people to the notion of plugging a woman's asshole open so that it would be available to be fucked at any time of day? Did this book invent labia weights (pete campbell voice "I arrived at it independently!")? Any of the other fetish gear described? I'm curious!

I wish I could picture the interlocking leather cuffs and collar O is outfitted with at the book's start. they sound like a fantastically flexible device which probably why the author's description of them makes no sense. it's very hard to picture something built in the 1950s that could do everything the authors says these pieces of hardware do. I need a like, Museum of Surgical Science but for early 20th century bdsm gear. im confused

On the whole I liked it a lot more than I expected even though it was also less sexy that i thought it would be. i cant explain why since the plot is nonexistence and it ends so abruptly as to feel like the whole story is pointless. but hey. i love a lazy river ride

yeonjun, still munching his last piece of donut, scrunches his eyebrows at you and tilts his head. you rolled your eyes.

"please, yeonjun?"

he swallows his food and reaches for the shoe to give it back to you. "you're welcome."

"yeonjun, (y/n). i'll be leaving to get some groceries, okay?" you see her said.

"okay, mom." you heard yeonjun reply while still playing his ds. your gaze sticks to his mom.

"take care of him, (y/n)."

"i'm literally the same age as her, mom." yeonjun replied as you see her come to yeonjun and kiss his head while chuckling.

"i know you are. love you, angel," she replies as she walks to the door

he looks up and down your body as you stood still, admiring his physique too. the undercut hairstyle that he sported, the baggy graphic nirvana logo tee with some holes on it, a pair of jeans with chains, and the tattoos that litter his arms.

"yeonjun?"

yeonjun nods and said, "we're just a bunch of outcasts, are we?" you chuckle after hearing what he said.

"hey, i'm back." your words make him form a smile. "i, i felt so guilty when i have to leave you behind back then especially as i recognized my role as your support system. i'm glad that he was there to take my place. for now, i'm not going anywhere." you patted his hands while giving a warm smile.

you swam around him to see the tattoo of an angel wing on the left side of his back connecting to his left arm.

"it's beautiful." you commented. "what does it mean?"

"you know back then when my mom used to call me 'angel'. yeah... that's where it comes from." he answered.

"we are twin flames… that sounds… intriguing." you let your eyes wander to see the sun now meeting the surface of the sea, how beautiful it is to you and even pansy, who gets off the truck then stands on the edge of the cliff as her head sticks to the sun.

Let’s Be Suns Tonight - Update 01

I haven't updated on let's be suns tonight after i made a wip intro, so here we go. This is what i've learned about the project over the last few months:

Making this a practice project was the best decision ever

Noah and Levi are my comfort characters at the moment

Writing is much more enjoyable when i don't force it and when i don't expect it to be perfect in the first draft

Vignettes for the win!

This update is going to be long because it covers ten vignettes (yeah, ten. i know i know, i'm sorry, okay?) and there are excerpts from almost all of them. We still don't have chapter titles, so let's stick to chapter number and pov character's name.

EXCERPTS

IV. Levi

Levi is sitting in a bus stop watching people live their lives like 'normal people' and feels sad about how much he's missed out on because of touring and performing. The poet in Levi comes out in this excerpt.

I know stars are actual beings that burn like the sun. But sometimes I like to think what I see is just light from the heavens spilling through holes in the sky. It makes me believe that there’s always light beyond an expanse of darkness and that it creeps out of whatever it is contained in. When silhouettes of pre-fame Levi shadow my persona, this thought makes it seem like maybe I radiate that kind of light too. It makes me believe that there is someone who cares enough to let me have these thoughts; maybe a God.

Here's the sad part. (CW for mention of self-harm)

I should take my parents out to the movies. We should go to our regular restaurants and eat the same meals we used to. I should meet Ruth’s boyfriend—Charles, from college, English Literature student. Mom and Dad have met him several times already, have had dinner together and baked cakes for his family. I still have to say hi in person. I should take Ruth on a long drive and catch up on all the things I wasn’t here to see. I should meet up with friends from high school. Host a party with pizza and beer and stupid games. But before all this, I want to feel like I’m here. I want to feel as present as the child on her father’s back, as the young couple laughing inside the barbeque joint on my right, as the group of teenagers stumbling into the café on the other side. I want to feel as present as the universe with all its flaws; like all other things that burn and break and kill pieces of themselves to stay alive.

Above me, the sky is starless.

V. Noah

This one's short and I'm quite proud of it, so here's the whole thing.

The first boy’s name is Joshua. His friends call him Josh because that’s what friends like them do – give you unremarkable nicknames and act like you’re special to them. You aren’t. I’m calling him Josh in my head and I do not care. I do not care about his order – a large iced coffee. I do not care about the barista messing up his name on the paper cup, the ‘hua’ bleeding down the edge in indigo. I do not care about his hair being fluffy and dark brown, the same colour as his eyes, or him checking his phone every three minutes only to put it down with a heavy face. I do not care that no one texts him. I do not care about the piercing on his left ear or the silver cuff on his left hand or the expensive-looking watch on his right. I do not care about whether or not he wears a silver chain with an angel pendant. I do not care about him looking at the second boy like he’s the only one he’s here for; like he’s in love. I do not care because I know it’s not true. Because I know he’s the boy that dares people to kiss each other at house parties, and the boy multiple girls in the room want to be dared to kiss. He’s the boy who smokes and vapes and takes a different girl to his room every night. He’s the boy who deals drugs and beats innocent kids up because it makes him feel powerful.

But he keeps looking at the second boy���Zach. Zachariah, I guess. Another one of those stupid nicknames. He looks at Zach and his girlfriend and his face crumbles, so he pulls out his phone again to check the time and take a sip of his iced coffee.

But I do not care about Josh or how beautiful he is or how pained he looks.

Why would I?

VI. Levi

Levi watches two girls taking pictures outside an old telephone booth and wants to go in. When he does, he doesn't have anyone to call except home and that makes him feel lonely. (Tbh, I would feel lonely too. You're feelings are valid, love.)

Muddy water splashes dark patches on my jeans. Dirt and vapour mist the glass door. The inside of the booth is suffocating, mosses growing in the corners, water dripping down its walls. The door shuts with a rattled squeak. I take the receiver, put a coin in, and dial the first number that comes to mind – home. Four rings before Mom picks up, one hello before my throat goes dry, another hello before my legs start to shake, one who’s this before I feel like I’m burning, one sorry, wrong number before the call is over.

He knows there's no hope but gives it another go anyway.

I slam the receiver back and lean against the damp wall. It has started drizzling, delicate raindrops loud on the roof. I need to call someone. I want someone to listen to all the things I don’t know how to say. I grab the receiver again. I put another coin in and stare down at the dial. My fingers linger over every digit for longer than it should, but I press none. And then, I press 1. I press 2. I press 2 again. And again. I press 3.

There’s no one to call.

He then runs to the cafe on the other side, where, co-incidentally, Noah happens to be judging people.

VII. Noah

Noah is watching Josh as he exits the cafe and has a 'moment of distress'. But when he looks out the window a second time, he sees someone else.

I look outside again. There’s a telephone booth on the other side, and beside it is her. It can’t be her, but it is. Long, blonde hair flying in the wind, overgrown fringes covering her eyes, blocking her vision. Yet, she’s looking straight at me. She recognizes me. She’s wearing the same floral shirt from that night—little daffodils and lilies printed on black nylon. The ketchup stain on its white peter pan collar is still fresh. It had dripped from the burger we shared inside one of those cabinets under the stairs. This can’t be, but it is.

This can’t be because she’s gone. Isla is gone.

Spoiler: Isla might be the ghost narrator. Not sure if I'll actually have her as a POV character, but I really want to. Let's see how it goes.

And now, Noah sees Levi. They finally meet!

Someone exits the booth. It’s raining heavily and I can’t see his face, but I know him by silhouette. The slight hunch on his back, his stature, and the way he grips his guitar case is all too familiar. But seeing him here has to be another one of those tricks. Because there’s no way it can be him. There’s no way anyone can be anything. There’s no way that I am here after all the things I’ve done.

But when he darts across the street and is closer to the door, I see it clearly. It is him – Levi John Antonio Shires.

VIII. Levi

Don't have a nice excerpt from this chapter, but here's our boys' first conversation with each other.

“Hey there, do you listen to my music?” I ask.

“Yes,” he says, “yeah, I do.”

“What’s your name?”

“Noah,” he says. “Noah Anderson.”

“Lovely! Are you okay, Noah? You seem a bit… confused,” I observe, and he stares out the window before answering my question.

“Yeah.”

I’m not sure if that’s a yes for being alright or being confused.

IX. Noah

Here's Noah being a simp for Levi. That's it.

When hunched on a barstool, Levi Shires is half a heart. It makes you wish you were the other, but you’re not, because half of him is an expanse the whole of you can’t fill. The guitar with him today is his second favourite – an acoustic sent anonymously by a fan, stated in an interview few months ago. Its fragility is a divine ornament between his fingers. They slide over its strings the way you should caress a loved one’s hair. The way I should’ve Isla’s. The way I didn’t.

Then, Noah requests Levi to sing a song and he does.

X. Levi

This chapter is Levi's explanation behind why and how he wrote Wolfpack Whispers, the song Noah requested him to sing. It has four paragraphs and they all starts with the line 'I wrote Wolfpack Whispers sitting on the floor of my bathroom'. This is the last one.

I wrote Wolfpack Whispers sitting on my bathroom floor. All of it. I wrote it and saved it for lonely nights on the tour bus—for when I needed to feel reminded of a space where I could be safe—but an artist is an artist because of their art. Quercitron needed mine. Before studio album one, we sent out my cry to the world. Not many heard the silence in the melody; not many would. But the man in the olive-green shirt—Noah Anderson—has his eyes closed all the while I’m singing. It looks like he’s hiding tears behind them. His fists clench under the table, his fingernails pressing into the inside of his palms. He’s angry, he’s in pain, and he’s listening to me like no one else in the room.

I want to know his story.

XI. Noah

Also Noah being a simp for Levi. This chapter doesn't have as much shareable content, so let's here's the opening line.

Levi says that purring makes a wolf vicious, and I know it’s true.

XII. Levi

In this chapter, Levi finishes his little concert at the cafe and wants to talk to Noah because he looks so sad and confused, but doesn't want to approach him because that would be biased and wrong of an artist. Noah goes to him and they have this conversation.

He says, “Hey. Hi. I wanted to tell you something before you left.”

I want him to tell me why he was so sad, why he was almost crying. I tell him, “Yes, Noah. Tell me.”

“Thank you,” he says, “for accepting my song request.”

I know he’s not going to tell me anything more, but my desperation wants to pull the words out of his throat. Instead, I say, “No problem, Noah. I’m glad you like Wolfpack Whispers.”

“You know, I…” he begins, “I’ve been through some really tough times and your songs have gotten me through it all. Not just Wolfpack Whispers. All of it, you know? I’ve listened to the bridge of this one so many times just to hear how your voice cracks right before you say you’re no lord or no king, and I am no lamb of your violence.”

He stops himself. I wish he didn’t. I wish he would tell me more about it. I wish he would tell me that he understands how it feels, but he doesn’t.

“I’m sorry, I just got a bit carried away,” he chuckles, “but I want you to know that I’m grateful for you and your music. It was fun meeting you today.”

He’s going to walk away. “Thank you, Noah,” I say, “and no, it’s no problem at all.”

He is walking away.

If I let him, I’ll never see him again. I’ll never know how I’ve helped him.

“Noah,” I call, and he turns back to face me. “Can you tell me more?”

XIII. Noah

Last chapter for this update, and yes, this is where the story kicks off. Noah agrees to tell Levi things.

“It’s going to take me a long time. There’s a lot and I’m not sure if it matters.”

“It matters,” he says. “It matters to me. I have time. We can go back to the café and talk. Or we can go wherever you want. But please, please tell me.”

But the café is already shutting on the corner of the street. We both turn at the sound of its shutter being pulled down. He looks at me again and asks, “Noah, will you walk around the city with me?”

“Yes,” I reply.

Well, that's it for this update. We'll have to see what Noah's story is and why Levi wants to know it so badly. I'm sorry if this update felt a bit rushed. I'm starting college tomorrow and I really wanted to get this done before that.

i have a Lot of Extremely old fics lingering in my drive from my warrior cat days of elementary and middle school but my ao3 is only Steven Universe and Amphibia, with one SU/D&D crossover!

this is the previously mentioned collab fic! i considered not including it on here since i feel like @fullmusicbard is really the holder of those kudos, but i'm going to just go by ao3's stats, so there's some promo for her! it's a canon-divergent steven universe fic, going with the concept of "what if the escape in the episode 'jailbreak' didn't go as planned?"

heroes on fire

a self-indulgent late-season-3 amphibia theory fic! beginning with the defeat of andrias, going through some recovery stuff, and eventually, the defeat of the night! i really haven't worked on this for a while since i have other projects in progress, but i'd love to get out the remaining chapters before the season 3 premiere!

homesick (if it helps you breathe)

i'm so glad that this fic ended up in my top five after all the work i put into it! this is a songfic, based on "homesick" by sleeping at last, made up of a series of interconnected vignettes about the girls being trapped in amphibia for many years. i put a ton of work into this, and i think it paid off!

noise

a long-abandoned steven universe fic, based on a concept of steven's gem being bleached in change your mind. i wish i could come back to it, but i've lost my interest in a lot of the darkness of this au.

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

i try to respond to comments as often as possible, but sometimes i feel intimidated if some author whose fics i stalk pops by to post one! sdgsdhj i do read and highly appreciate every single one!

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

frog, i have a lot of very dark fics that i've now set to not show up on my profile. the angstiest one i have currently published would have to either be everything. or look at how my tears ricochet. they are about the same character, same scene, same concept, so i'd say they're tied!

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

one of my current wips is a crossover with redwall! however, the only crossover fic i've actually posted is a D&D crossover with steven universe: on the sea

i really don't think i have? if i did i deleted it and blocked it from memory sghfsdjgs

any ship of the calamity trio is awesome ngl. sashannarcy is so snazzy sgdsjhgjs. in order, my other fave ships of them are marcanne, sasharcy, and sashanne. frog i love them.

14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

i have this drabble of the scene where anne breaks her arm in toad tax completely written out but i'm just not sure what to do with it! i feel like it either needs to be half of a two-shot or embedded as a flashback/memory scene in another work (which i've actually done with my drabbles in the past!) but for now it's just sitting in my drive.

15) What are your writing strengths?

i've been told again and again that i'm amazing at emotions, and i think a lot of that is because of how much my character interactions pull from my experiences. for instance, homesick was originally conceptualized as a vent while i was away at summer camp, and i just stretched my own homesickness even further in order to capture the feelings of the girls! it's not uncommon for dialogue in my fics to be pulled directly from my life.

16) What are your writing weaknesses?

getting a fic of any actual real length down on paper! i am blown away by anyone who can have a fic that's anything over 50k words– my total wordcount for all my published fics doesn't even break that!

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i've never included another language in a fic, half because i'm too scared of butchering it with google translate, half because i've never had the opportunity or the need to! if i did, i feel like my best option as someone who only speaks english would be to simply write the dialogue in english but note that it was said in another language.

18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

An Unorganized List of Fanfic That Lives in My Brain Rent-Free

(chosen based on how immediately I remembered everything and how often I think about them, but again in no order w/ vague descriptions and rambles):

@sephmeadowes So, this part is a bit of a blurb, but I just love everything Seph writes. I recently provoked her into writing Moonshine which is Lauren/Emmett, and of course, I will plug her newest work Impossible the prequel to her breakdown of vampire lore in Twilight, as well as being Jessica/Edward. Jess won’t let Edward live. No Bella. She does the most. We don’t deserve it.

Also, one million invisible lines bc Caroline and Kol is a ship I associate solely with Seph and she wrote them in every situation beautifully. Also, she took my requests and let me annoy her for the next couple years XD

what’s the story, morning glory? @highgaarden. The TVD & Gossip Girl crossover that I never knew I needed. It’s just so much fun to read. Absolutely delightful. So much so, I used the word delightful. Basically, Nate and Elena are getting married and everyone rises up to put a stop to it. Just the sheer amount of times I read this just to giggle at the same jokes over the years is something else. It’s such an interesting and in character take, it’s truly like the shows blended.

Marrow @actuallydeglace – Naruto: Sakura/Kimimaro. Like?? I didn’t know I needed Kimimaro and Sakura to slowly but beautifully fall in love in Orochimaru’s underground bunker, but now I do? Also, (I know you get this a lot) they single-handedly made me ship both KimiSaku AND KabuSaku? I should be making FUN of Kabuto, not shipping him with Sakura?? Who are you?? Inspired me so much and captivated my attention for weeks.

Bloodsport by vioxxin on ff.net – Tokyo Ghoul: Hide/Kaneki. Like, the only Hide/Kaneki fic I need in my cold heart. It’s been unfinished, but I just have such love for this fic and the author’s descriptions and Hide/Kaneki’s relationship when they haven’t gone to school together, but Kaneki is still a ghoul. I’m not giving it justice, just read it. Sometimes I just reread scenes.

Prime Cut @provocative-envy – HP: Hermione/Scabior. I didn’t know I needed Hermione asking Scabior to be her date to her best friend’s wedding, yet here we are. I’ve read this probably ten times. Envy’s mind is big-brain all the time. Best ideas. Best HP crackships. And GoT ships too!

Green Girl @colubrina – HP: Hermione/Draco. But when I say RENT FREE, I mean, Colubrina has written so many wonderful HP fics, but Green Girl is just holds a special place in my heart. I reread it at the beginning of quarantine. I love Slytherin Hermione and her relationship with Draco, the give and take of the other Slytherins, the way events of the story shift and politics. I love wizard politics. I wish Colubrina nothing but perfect happiness for this fic alone.

Cancel On Me by Purrugly on ff.net –  Teen Wolf: Erica Reyes-centric. I love Erica Reyes to this day and only wish we could have gotten more time with her character bc this was PEAK, I say PEAK Erica Reyes content for me. It was such a good breakdown for a character that got so little attention.

The Veil Between @ohmoka – BNHA: TogaChako. Hi moka, SO, my very first Togachako! It seemed so obvious, I love Ochako and I love Toga, of course, I should ship them. However, I didn’t want to, but this fic slowly broke me down and I just fell in love with the idea of them together. The slow turn over of their relationship and spending Halloween together in a graveyard. Inspired me to write my own TogaChako.

All the Ashes in My Wake @modernart2012 – BNHA: NatShig. This feels like a classic to me, honestly. It’s that trope of fake identities and romance, Shigaraki pretends to be someone else to date Natsuo for nefarious means, but feelings start to creep in. ALSO, the first Natshig fic I’ve ever read, so ModernArt, I blame you. I do. It’s been stuck in my mind like a staple ever since. I love it.

take heart (you’re all that I can see) @bittermoonswrites – BNHA: NatShig. Sup? Anyway, THIS NatShig just made me so happy. Moon’s writing is so nice and fluid, I don’t know how they do it. Shigaraki as a ballet dancer is a plus and I loved watching the relationship blossom and develop. Also, the ending which I had to read twice before I could possibly review. I can not wax enough about it, just all the subtle nuances caught me completely.

Red Spider Lilies @seiyuna – HXH: KuroKura. Ohmigod, oh-kay. So, didn’t know I would ever ship this, but now I do and I am absolutely in love with seiyuna’s other krkr works. Just . . . this reincarnation au hits me so different; I love the vignettes. I can feel an epic soundtrack in the background every time these characters look at each other. Also, seiyuna’s smut scenes are just phenomenal.

Chlorine @itsillumi – HXH: KuroKura. So, yeah. This stole my teeth. I can’t bite into anything else for a week. Like, these characters speak and it sears my soul. Chapter one is called flatline and I damn near almost did. I laid on my living room carpet with the Cat for an hour after finishing the last update.  I choose death.

Fanfic Rec: 00Q Part 3

It’s been more than a year! I have totally been procrastinating in doing this if I’m truly honest. A lot of things happened in my life as well! There are good and bad things, but what matters most is that I still have a number of fics to recommend for you! I haven’t stopped reading, don’t worry. 

Also I think it’s a good time to post my list. The next Bond movie has released its trailer and the 00Q crumbs we got from the trailer got a lot of shippers back on board. If you’re that person, you might want to check these fanfics out!

He's second only to the weapons MI6 pretends don't exist- archangels are only a theory, after all. Aren't they?

It would be just Q's luck that one of his agents was dragon-born.

Breaking his leg in a freak accident, James camps out at Q’s flat when the white-washed, soulless walls of Medical become too much for him to tolerate. Unfortunately, his leg is only the beginning of Bond’s health problems, and Q is conscripted into being James’ caretaker. Confined to the close quarters of Q’s flat, the Quartermaster finds himself opening back up to the agent, but will the two men find their way to one another as they should have done years ago, or is time no longer on their side?

So I guess that’s it for now! I still have a couple in my belt, but most of them are still WIP so I’d keep them for now. I’ll be adding them once they are finished.

“Rate the Chapter” is a genuine bell curve this month instead of having its more typical overwhelmingly positive skew. While not terrible by any means, the response to chapter 126 was the most lukewarm since chapter 107, and it was the second worse performing chapter since we started the poll.

By far, this was the chapter I enjoyed the least, I just hope that the ending feels realistic

Definitely fast paced, but definitely needed to finally kick things into high gear. The Calm Before The Storm…

it was pretty disappointing by aot standards, but the last 15 chapters were amazing, so what am i even complaining for.... i just hope that isayama can write a decent ending.

I feel like this is either one of those chapters that will be more rewarding in hindsight when we have more info or was just straight up moving forward so we can get to the good stuff faster and we will have to suck it up and move on. All in all I think it was a good chapter even if a little rushed.

Easily the worst chapter in years due to the fast pacing, convenient plot developments and cliche and very cheesy and cringey ending page quote.

In the anime they could make a whole episode out this single chapter instead of using two chapters to make a single episode

After nearly a year of absence Levi and Hange were finally back in the story so it’s no surprise that “Everything with Levi and Hange” topped the list of favorite moments with 22.1%. “Avengers Assemble” was a distant second with 10.6%. Confirmation that Levi was alive came in third (10.2%).

Talk about polarity. “Avengers Assemble” may have been the second most popular “Favorite Moment” but it was also  the landslide winner for “Least Favorite” with nearly 22% of the fandom selected it as the worst moment of the chapter. “Floch’s Speech” (13.8%) and “The Ragako Subplot” (13.5%) rounded out the top 3.

  WHO WAS THIS CHAPTER’S MVP? 1,503 responses

Hange (23%), Jean (16.2%) and Armin (13.4%) were our top three favorite characters this month. It needs to be said that “Pie” came in at number four with nearly 10% of the fandom selecting it.

it WAS nice to see characters choosing to be their best selves for the sake of others. For that reason, it was difficult to pick an MVP -- but I gave it to Onyankopon because he crystallized so eloquently exactly what I had been thinking since Eren started the Rumbling.

I'm giving this 5/5 solely for Yams finally feeding the LeviHan shippers some good fucking food after so long.

I ship Levi and Hange. It's so cute when Hange realized that Levi was listening to her/him while pretending to sleep.

Pieck Finger. Pieck Finger everybody. You know how a common response to trauma or awkwardness is humor? Well 42.6% of you are primarily concerned with how “Pieck Finger” will be memed. 24.7% of you accept the trauma and say you wish she would’ve just stayed “Pieck”, and 20.6% of you are glad she has a last name, but did it really have to end like this? 6.5% of you think it’s a “cool and realistic last name”, and I think you guys scare me more than the people who vote “Snapchat” on the last question every month. More on that later.

Back when Pieck was supposed to be a dude, the working name was "Oliver Pieck", at least from what I read on the AoT wiki. I feel like Isayama could have just switched the first and last name around to make it "Pieck Oliver." That would've sounded far less weird.

  AS PREDICTED, CONNIE’S ROADTRIP WITH FALCO ENDED AMICABLY. WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT? 1,498 responses

The Ragako subplot did little for the readers with nearly one-third of the fandom calling it a complete waste of time. The majority (46.2%) were slightly more charitable selecting “It was ok. I’m glad it wrapped up quickly”. Only 17.5% loved the moment. The write-ins were pretty damning.

Good plotpoint, really bad execution

I liked the outcome, but it was handled too quickly

A complete waste of time: Connie's arc? Sharted over. The consequences about Falco? Sharted over. Possibility to exploit serumbowl or Ymir's memories? Glossed over.

All of this made no sense and it was solved so quickly it seemed unrealistic. YAMS WE NEED PROPER CLOSURE PLS DON'T WASTE MORE INK

Connie deserved better writing.

Felt too shallow for how quick it sprung up, needed more development. As it is now, it could've just not happened

I'm glad that Connie hasn't died yet because I appreciate him, but there's been wasted potential. Ymir's memories and Porco and Colt's deaths have been reduced to a single vignette where we can only speculate and write fics.

Missed opportunity to actually develop Connie's character. We didn't learn anything we didn't already know about Connie.

The fandom is almost evenly divided over Mikasa’s actions towards Louise. By the narrowest of margins, Mikasa’s compassionate nature took the majority (26.8%). The other extreme, “Mikasa should’ve sucked it up and let the girl be happy”, was second with 26.2%. A quarter of the fandom instead chose to focus on Louise. “Louise was crazy and deserves the cold shoulder” was third (23.9%).

It's not surprising that Mikasa ran out of f*cks to give. There are only so many lives she can value, and right now she doesn't have the time to spare, or room in her heart.  

I don't think Mikasa had any responsibility there, and the scarf is hers. Given its significance, and that she owes Louise nothing, it seemed like the moment was morally neutral.

I really didn't care. Louise is barely a character, and Mikasa had no duty to be nice to a person who enabled and supported a bloody coup just because she saved her life once.

That this is about Mikasa’s compassion or lack thereof I think says more about how we feel women should feel. I think it was fine, she barely knows Louise and there is a lot more going on. Louise is a grown woman that made her own decisions.

Ultimately, Mikasa's the authority on the scarf and it's emotional weight, while Louise was trying to squeeze her own meaning out of it. It wasn't Louise's place to do so, and it wasn't her scarf to take. Whatever is to be done with it, to see it used again, given to someone else, or see it thrown out or destroyed, is a choice only the scarf's real owner, Mikasa, should make.

I feel like the pacing of the chapter was this fast so that Isayama could end with the "Avengers Assemble" scene as the big volume cliffhanger for the next one, so he tried to get through the events quickly to give it that poetic ending. In that case, it's possible Isayama might show how some of these events unfolded in the next chapter or two; he usually does that kind of thing when showing big events for the first time. If the next chapter fleshes some of the scenes from this chapter more like showing Jean discussing the Avengers' plan with Mikasa and Armin, I think that could make this chapter better when we look back on it.

Perhaps readers feel the time for small subplots is done, since there’s so much still to do with the main plot we do not understand? A lot of responses indicated Mikasa’s perceived ‘cruelty’ (you’re all wrong, just so you know!) towards Louise, so perhaps this is indicative of why so many people would choose this event to be the subplot to drop.

I was just expecting Levi, Hange and the corps interaction would be more surprising. The same goes for Annie and Armin's convo.

The mikasa scarf submit definitely could’ve happened in another chapter. This was too rushed and I really hope no other chapters feel this way. This chapter should’ve just been the Tagalog subplot, and then Annie and armin reunion. Then another chapter with hange/levi, Jean/flock and how they all came together to join forces.

It's so obvious this mad lad Isayama wanted to break the tension from the Armin / Annie reunion scene. We never know where he's going to trick us, do we ?

I do think that many things were kind of glossed over to save time. I'd prefer that things slow down a bit, just so we can soak up all that context. For example, the conversation between Hange and Magath, Annie and Armin's reunion and others.

Some folks seem to indicate it was expected and just needed to happen quickly so the story could move along. However, the amount of people who hated it was too large to ignore; and largely for similar reasons, that it appeared too easy. Maybe the mistrust and emotion will come as the story moves along? Also Hanji sides too many times with "benefactors". I'm expecting the alliance to be shaky, with probably backstabbings and double-crossings. They seemed to make an agreement over killing Zeke (since no side likes him), and I doubt characters like Mikasa, Armin or Jean would be ok with killing Eren.

I don't get all the madness over the alliance, It was obvious it would happen.   REGARDING HOW THE AVENGER'S MISSION AND THE ENDING WILL GO, WHICH OF THESE IS PREFERABLE/ACCEPTABLE TO YOU? 1,465 responses

Fans proving as ever, that they are a divisive bunch! However, it's clear that the smallest amount of responses favour the rumbling being stopped and world peace occuring (hippies!). Some responses indicate that this chapter made them nervous for the ending being overly optimistic, even with Eren as the apparent antagonist. Endings where Eren achieves an extreme form of Brexit (Paradexit?) with a victory over the armies of the world have a fairly even spread of positive responses, proving that he still has a lot of fans on his side. However, most of you responded in the vague sense of feeling like Isayama knows best and at this point, just seeing where this wild ride takes us.

I keep seeing this popular prediction on almost every platform: Eren destroys the world outside Paradise, goes back to Historia and her newborn kid (in this sort of prediction it is always assumed that he's the father), tells his kid (who is also thought to be reborn Ymir) "you're free" and goes on to be a good dad - End of story. Honestly the thought of this type of ending pisses me off so much. Not only because its reeks of typical shonen ending, but because it goes against all the themes and ideas that Isayama has written into the story over the years.

I would not be upset with a 'golden' ending. Some part of me wants that to happen.

I know most people hated how rushed it felt, but honestly, I'm glad this wasn't split into 2 months. This leaves more time for the conclusion, and would much rather the alliances be rushed rather than the ending.

While it's certainly sad that Louise may not be long for this world, I also don't think Mikasa owes her anything. Mikasa seems to see a lot of traits she dislikes about herself cranked up to 11 in Louise, and I think it's understandable to need to distance oneself from toxic ideas or people. Mikasa and Louise were never friends, they never really knew each other, and never really cared about each other. Sure, Louise idolized an idea of Mikasa, but she put herself as separate from the real Mikasa, lesser. These two strangers never had a real chance to truly know each other, and that's okay, sad but okay.

While the panel of Annie with a face stuffed with pie is a gem, I think it seemed almost too good a coincidence. Both parties (Armin, Connie and the kids and Hitch & Annie) happen to be taking a break from their travels at the same time in the same city at the same festival. Seemed a bit too lucky.

Isayama has a bias against the yeagerists too. Portraying them as mindless dumbasses that are evil for no reason. Look at Floch everytime he has a moment it gets cut short for a "oh look at this dumbass" type of conclusion like him missing the shot at Shadis and getting duped by Jean and the 104th.

this chapter felt too 'super hero movie' to me, in the sense that it was way too optimistic and cheesy, nothing like the Attack on Titan I know and love. Isayama's been watching too much Marvel.

A rushed chapter, Isayama may have messed up some timelines (e.g. Louise's talk with Eren, the changes in day and night), maybe Isayama was too focused on SAUNA SAUNA SAUNA when he was drawing the chapter but anyway, if the chapter was rushed because he wants to move to next plots (eee....east...eeeek...Ki....), I'm fine with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chapter Would've been terrific if it weren't for the rushed forced alliance. Mikasa's character also seemed out of place this chapter.

Felt very disappointed and it is as if this story is moving to black and white territory again.

Good fast development, optimistic that what was glossed over will be addressed. A bit antsy that this is a setup for some tragedy but I don’t expect total senseless ruin for the characters.

I don't really see where all the complaints are coming from, to me the chapter must be one of my all time favorites ever since I've started reading the manga at the regular monthly pace. I think the build up and the tension have been steadily increasing slowly enough up to this point, and now we've finally reached the top of the roller coaster tracks, and it's time for the ride to the conclusion. I loved the mysterious plan, it reminds me of the uprising arc (ah the good old times).

I hope the author just got a bit lost and had to put things back on track quickly. I want to feel for these characters, not find out that I followed their struggles for chapters to see them dissolve for the sake of the plot.

Eren has suffered a lot over the years and a lot of things have been TAKEN from him - but do you remember "In order to achieve something, you have to give up something important"? I don't think Eren has ever GIVEN up something of his. He's always been a little maniac intent on killing the enemy (which is what he is doing right now). There have been so many characters in the story that have given up their dreams and finally their lives, why is Eren the one that gets to have his cake and eat it too?

The more things don't seem to add up, the more you have to pay attention, that's what I learnt reading this series. And a whole lot didn't seem to add up in this chapter so I'm super hyped!

This is easily one of the weakest chapters Isayama has ever written. After creating all of these subplots that we were expecting to go somewhere and hold emotional weight for the characters were written off into cheap one-liners, off screen reactions and discussion, and just overall completely weak subplots that left us with no emotional payoff.

Boii I'm glad the development on the characters matters only when its relevant to the plot, I almost forget that I used to like them. If Reiner of all people doesn't point out how creepy and disgusting it all is I don't know what to say, what a waste of time of a series.

Connie mentioning Sasha made me cry! Actually makes me wish Eren pulls some time travel shit so that we can have our girl back.

Can I just say I find it funny, and I really love Pieck regardless, it is just a last name after all.

I thought this chapter was it for Connie, who has been one of my favorites since the beginning. It was a bit sudden but I'm glad him not feeding Falco to his mom is Canon AND that it strengthened his bond with Armin.

It feels like none of the Jeagerists really see clearly what the situation is, or at least don't have an ounce of understanding or sympathy why everyone else is scared and freaked out by what has happened. That in turn makes it harder for non-Jeagerists to act with sympathy, what a vicious cycle.

What bothers me the most is not the way Mikasa interacted with Louise, but the fact that she wanted the scarf back. On a symbolic level, she left it behind a few chapters ago, which meant that she no longer put Eren first and started thinking about herself. She recognized that her bond with Eren was severed. So why take that scarf back now, when it's not supposed to have that much importance anymore?

I can see either the next chapter or the one after showing a flashback of Jean, Armin, and Mikasa discussing that plan. Cutting some parts of a scene and showing it in the following chapter or two is usually an Isayama thing to do.

I don't know why everyone's expecting every single piece of exposition to be laid out for them like meeting minutes. This isn't the first time we've understood what's been going on behind the scenes after the fact.

The cringe made me develop a permanent seizure. Also both my eyeballs are still stuck in the back of my head because of the excessive force I used trying to roll my eyes.

The team-up should have been given more time to develop. It wasn’t all bad though.

The problem does not lie so much in the pace as in the script tension, which Isayama killed a little in this chapter but intentionally I think. I mean the guys are literally sleeping and eating like it was a party during the freaking end of the world, do you really think he would have let such a thing slip out of clumsiness?

I'm pretty sure that Levi will have the role of "Helos", and Hange his 'Tybur' collaborator, because she's holding a hammer like the guy/girl next to Helos during the play (ch99).

8/10. I liked annie's reunion the best, but wish that hitch had more characterization and wasn't written out so quickly. Ragako subplot was fine but predictable. Louise subplot kinda boring. Avengers assemble at the end was very anime and I liked it.

A thought: What if Ackermans are the only ones able to actually kill off the Nine Titans? We know they’re byproducts of titan science, maybe they were created to annihilate them? That’d be devastating to see Levi or Mikasa kill Eren and Armin. I’d love it. 😂

Do Gabi and Falco know that Armin is the Collosal Titan? I thought Connie might let that slip to them and it might create tension between Gabi and Armin but.... No. Everything about that subplot was insanely rushed, there were a lot of ways it could have played out.

Aforementioned last page quote that is so unlike SnK up to this point. Cringey and straight out of an Avengers movie, I can't believe there are people who actually like this development.

I hope Isayama isn't overworking and rushing himself to finish the manga just for the sake of finishing it this year, but I still believe he will finish SnK in a satisfactory manner that will be memorable for decades. However, this chapter as well as 125 were very disappointing and lowered my expectations considering how good the entire final arc had been up to this point.

I don’t think the chapter was rushed. Glad to see Armin finally doing SOMETHING, and I hope it was more a gamble than him wanting to die. Hange’s monologue was so out of character, everyone knows Hange would never want to live in the woods, yet it looks like Hange always  gets discouraged and needs encouragement from somebody else. Seriously, that’s not the Hange we all know. Where’s the ‘defeat is all the Survey Corps ever knew, let’s kick asses!!’ Hange?? that interaction with Pieck brought some of it back thankfully

I enjoyed how quickly it moved. We’ve been down in the doldrums since December, so I’m glad to see the characters & the pace picking back up again.

I hate how quickly Hanji becomes depressed. Armin, Jean - they overcame their doubts by themselves. Yet Hanji always needs someone else to tell them to stop being ridiculous. It’s like Levi is babysitting Hanji :/ I miss good, old, badass Hanji

I really like Hanji and Levi’s friendship and how Levi always knows what to say to encourage his friends but can we please stop with Hanji being so emotionally weak? I love Hanji, but c’mon- Levi was seriously injured and still needs to treat Hanji like she’s a wounded kid. Jean came to his senses on his own, same for Armin and Mikasa. All they needed was to remember people who died, did Hanji not lose enough comrades to find her strength from? Hanji is one of two veterans left and the commander(!), it really hurts to see her so pathetic, that was hard to read. Glad she looks more like old Hanji at the end of the chapter

I'm in the minority here, but I actually liked the chapter. Sure the pacing was a bit off, but this may be because we're getting a detailed explanation for it in an upcoming chapter. Other than that I find it somewhat amusing that so many people that a team-up wasn't happening. Like there was so much goddamned FORESHADOWING about it. Plus the fact that Isayama basically flat-out admitted that he was going to create a team-up a-la Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm not expecting roses and fluffiness at the end of the road, I see a lot of people dying. And I still don't know who's gonna be the victor at the end. It just seemed really clear to me where these character arcs were/are heading. I still have faith in Yams. He hasn't disappointed me yet, so let's just see what he has in store for us.

It feels like Isayama is rushing to finish it off just like Kishimoto did with Naruto Shippuuden and that makes me very sad. I'm worried he'll destroy everything he did until now.

It felt incredibly unrealistic. What I have appreciated most about SnK is its narrative integrity and ability to produce results proportional to the protagonists' abilities. Currently, this feels rather forced. When did they come up with these plans? How could they possibly have alerted Jean ahead of time without anything being shown? It feels like a cheat. Also, I don't like that its just them going after Eren. Realistically, in SnK, a small group of characters, even with their level of power, shouldn't consider going after him how they have. If anything they need to face reality and prepare for the world to come after the rumbling, since if I think anybody in their position would think it is utterly impossible to stop it.

I feel like the pacing of the chapter was this fast so that Isayama could end with the "Avengers Assemble" scene as the big volume cliffhanger for the next one, so he tried to get through the events quickly to give it that poetic ending. In that case, it's possible Isayama might show how some of these events unfolded in the next chapter or two; he usually does that kind of thing when showing big events for the first time. If the next chapter fleshes some of the scenes from this chapter more like showing Jean discussing the Avengers' plan with Mikasa and Armin, I think that could make this chapter better when we look back on it.

It was warm and fuzzy and I really needed that, but the actual details of the new alliance will absolutely need to be expounded upon soon.

Let's say we generally agreed that this chapter is bad.

Not nearly as bad as people say it was like Jesus heck calm down. I mostly feel bad for isayama tbh he’s probably being pressured to wrap it up and he’s not usually one to not give moments like this chapter proper time.

It's hard to say why Isayama decided to wrap up things fairly quickly, whether he has later flashbacks planned or whether he was overwhelmed with time pressure/suffered a writer's block of whatever. I think, in the end, if the rest of the story wraps up strong, it doesn't matter much.

I'm happy with what happened in this chapter, except the fact that it was rushed and Levi's plot armor, I mean Ackermann blood. He should have lost at least a leg...

The only solace I take in all of this is that the plot can finally move forward. This has been an entire volume of seemingly pointless side quests and I'm ready to focus again on the main story. Frankly, I'm exhausted. I just want answers and I want to know how the story finds resolution.

We had several excellent chapters recently, a subpar one is understandable. Hopefully the Anime will expand on it a bit

I’m going to do a weird.

I know a whole lot of us are stuck at home due to the COVID19 outbreak and all our respective governments attempting to flatten the curve. So I’m going to break out my VAST library of fanfiction recommendations for you to read! Please bear in mind that my tastes in fics are not necessarily like yours so the following 15 Fandom reccs might be hit or miss. All ships and above T ratings will be tagged with brackets, all crossovers will be mentioned in those same brackets. Also, if I mention it’s part of a series, I’m not just recommending the fic I mentioned, I’m recommending the whole series. I’ve tried to recommend a different author’s fic each time. So! Let’s start with the 3 fandoms I mention in my blog description.

1) ATLA Fate Deferred (Zutara) Aang remains in the iceberg ten years longer. Sozin’s comet comes, the world keeps turning with no Avatar to save it, and by the time he’s finally found by a waterbender and her Fire Nation husband, a lot has changed. [Zutara established relationship full series rewrite; Now on Book II: Earth]  Cheating at Pai Sho (Canon Divergence) “You said you were the Avatar!” “…I lied?” Aang doesn’t get rescued in episode two, and no one’s seen him go glowy yet… so he starts bluffing. Hard. Or: “The Avatar joins Zuko’s quest to find the Avatar.” In which Zuko doesn’t join the Gaang, the Gaang joins Zuko.  The Undying Fire: Blood and Fire (First in the Undying Fire Series, eventual Zutara) Book 1. In which rescuing the Avatar from Pohuai Stronghold doesn’t end so well. It’s a tough life being a banished prince trying to get home, especially when the Avatar just wants to be your friend and keeps making everything confusing. Oh, and did Zuko mention he somehow healed the kid? Yeah, that happened. Stalking Zuko (First in the Stalking Zuko Series, eventual Zutara) Katara has developed a new hobby. At the Western Air Temple she takes to stalking Zuko. Much silliness and shenanigans follow. In chapter 20: Katara and Zuko return home to the others. Katara hates the F word and she comes to a decision regarding Zuko.  Embers (Canon divergence) Dragon’s fire is not so easily extinguished; when Zuko rediscovers a lost firebending technique, shifting flames can shift the world…  2) Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Father (Percabeth in the GFFA, eventual Anidala) It all started with a wish, but because it was Percy Jackson it couldn’t have been a friendly goddess granting him a wish. No, it had to be Nemesis, goddess of revenge and balance. Now Percy and Annabeth are stuck in a strange new galaxy right when an ancient and powerful darkness finally begins to stir.  Glass Figures (MCU Mashup) I lifted my gun, pointing it towards the minefield of shattered fragments, and kicked the small coffee table out of the way.Only to stare down at an awfully familiar face, which split into a somewhat lopsided grin. The intruder raised his hands in a mocking surrender. //“Long time no see, dude.” //I lowered the gun. “What the hell are you doing in South Peru?” //Or in which Clint Barton and Percy Jackson have a long personal history that starts in high school. All Together, Cousins (Canon divergence) When Thalia ran away with her toddler brother, Jason, she slowly gathered her cousins: she and her cousins being Big Three children. As Jason gets older and their motley group expands to six, Thalia resigns herself to the fact that she won’t always be the leader of the pack. As she accepts that, something more is coming, able to challenge even the gods above. A Crown of Golden Leaves (Historical AU) Annabeth, a Lady from the declining polis of Athens, must marry the Heir Apparent of Rome to save the rapidly expanding world from a threat even the gods couldn’t foresee.  Deluge (Percy in the Arrowverse) Barry has to deal with yet another Metahuman that Zoom has pitted against him. But this ‘Metahuman’ is an unwilling pawn in Zoom’s plan and really wants to find a way around killing the Scarlet Speester. But how can he when Zoom is holding something against him? 

3) DC Firework (First in the Sparks in the Dark Series) Orphaned and removed from the only life he’s ever known, Dick feels like there’s no light left for him in the world. His new benefactor, however, still sees something worth saving… Chronological beginning of the Spark in the Dark series.   Iron, Fire, Mirror-Glass After a brutal confrontation with Bane, Bruce comes away with a broken spine and the certainty that his days as Batman are over. An unexpected discovery offers him another chance—but at what price? The story of a man who risks his soul for the sake of his mission, the dangerous creature he names Robin, and the unlikely partnership that will shape the legend of Gotham’s Dark Knight.  Get Back Up There was a mole, one who played a long game. 5) Devil May Cry And the Rest is Silence (Mature) The destruction of the Saviour wasn’t the end. Too many people had too much invested.  An Uncle’s Thoughts Dante’s thoughts and feelings regarding one particular quarter-demon kid. Vignettes that span from the start of Devil May Cry 4 through Devil May Cry 5, and beyond. Fortuna’s Fool Events after DMC5 with flashbacks to the events we briefly see in DMC4SE only with Vergil telling Dante all about Nero’s mother. Family ties are so complicated, aren’t they? Family of Happenstance Some orphans have happy endings, getting adopted or finding their family. Having a demon slaying half devil for a father tends to throw a tiny monkey wrench in the process. 6) Power Rangers (Focus on Might Morphin’ and Dino Thunder teams) Of Love and Bunnies Set just after Dino Thunder. When Angel Grove announces another Power Rangers Day, Tommy takes the Dino Rangers to Angel Grove for a reunion with the original team… including Kimberly. TommyKim, JasonTrini, KiraTrent. Bucky’s Baby

             The sight of Sam and Sharon dipping their infant’s toes in the water at the shallow end of the pool, Steve laughing as his son James splashes him in his water wings is enough to make Cherise’s heart ache. She had gone from smiling while relaxed back in her chair beside Bucky to sitting up straight and tensely. Bucky can’t help but notice, as his gaze has been plastered on Cherise’s expressions for the last three minutes or so. Her tanned hands land sadly against her lower stomach, flatter than it has ever been, and when Bucky can tell she’s trying to hold in tears, he can’t relax anymore. His hand passing down Cherise’s back shocks her. She whips her head in his direction to find him grinning, but deep down his heart is breaking, too. He hides the pain, wanting to remain strong and reassuring to her, as he has been in all this time that they’ve been trying to have their own child.

             “Hey, let me put some more sunscreen on you, huh babe?” Bucky says, reaching into the bag she had brought with them to the pool party at the Avenger’s facility. Cherise sighs, slumping slightly and staring down as Bucky rubs some organic sunscreen on her back where her bikini leaves her skin exposed beneath the shade of a large umbrella. She’s silent, and Bucky’s hands slow at her shoulders, holding them more firmly. He transitions onto her lawn chair, behind her, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her temple.

             “Are you okay, honey?” he asks quietly, not wanting to draw Steve’s or anyone else’s concern their way. It was only a few weeks ago that Bucky had confided in Steve the pain that he and Cherise had recently endured with their failed attempt at IVF. When Cherise is silent, it worries Bucky more. He’s certain she’s already weeping.

             “Cherry—?”

She moves to walk away so quickly that she practically jerks out of Bucky’s arms. He doesn’t gaze after her long before hurrying past Dr. Banner, who looks somewhat concerned, and Bucky wonders how much he had seen. If he had seen the same things that Bucky had been observing for the past few minutes. She is out of sight already when Bucky can finally hear Cherise crying audibly. Her agony crushes his soul and it takes everything he has not to break down immediately. He knew it wasn’t a sign of weakness to cry, but he rarely cried in front of Cherise. He felt it was his responsibility to be her rock, her comfort, something he loved being for her, no matter how hard things got for the two of them. Bucky’s chocolate lab, Bob, had gone straight after Cherise when she jumped up at the poolside, and the dog is whining at her heels, wanting to know that his mama is alright.

             “Baby?” Bucky calls, as Cherise makes it into the cool air of the building. She doesn’t stop storming away, and it’s somewhat awkward as Wanda looks up where she, Gamora, and Natasha are chatting in the kitchen, preparing lunch as they catch Bucky running after her. She rushes into the women’s room, but this doesn’t stop Bucky. He follows her straight in and grasps her before she can lock the door on him.

             “Why can’t I have a baby?” Cherise wails, shrinking in Bucky’s arms. He has no choice but to follow her to the floor, where she slumps, defeated, “It’s not fair! …Bucky, it isn’t fair!” Cherise cries into his bare chest, leaving a wetness there which is pleasantly warm in contrast to the air conditioning.

             “We just have to keep trying, sweetie,” Bucky says comfortingly, calmly. He kisses the top of Cherise’s head, rubbing her back.

             “We’ve been trying for a fucking year, James!” she yells, pulling away from him. Bucky doesn’t release her.

             “Cherry—please try to relax—”

             “Don’t tell me what the hell to do,” she barks, and what Bucky had been believing deep down seems to come to fruition. He’d thought that Cherise was beginning to resent him when they managed to make it to Christmas and she still wasn’t getting pregnant. He’d even tried to comfort her by telling her that it was probably him and not her. Despite the doctors saying there was nothing wrong with either of them. Bucky had wanted to take the blame. If even in some small, miniscule way, it made Cherise feel a little less awful, he was willing to deal with that.

             “Don’t yell at me,” he says sternly, “Is this what’s going to happen every time you see a baby?”

Cherise eyes him with hurt and pries away from him, retreating to the corner and hugging her knees. Bucky sighs regretfully.

             “I didn’t mean it—”

             “Yes, you did,” she mumbles, barely intelligible through her tears. Bucky slumps, resting his hands on his knees. A solitary tear escapes his eyes. He clenches his fists, taking a deep breath. He makes his way over to Cherise again and holds her. She doesn’t pull away from him this time and she eventually stops crying. She finds him holding back tears when she looks up at him at last. His smile is real, however.

             “Cherise…one day, we’re going to take our own baby swimming. I promise. Right out there in that pool. And it will be a hot summer day and he’ll love it…We just have to keep trying,” Bucky explains, cupping her chin. She closes her eyes as he kisses her forehead for a long moment. She doesn’t bother to add that he’s wrong and that they’ll never meet their son or daughter.

             “Let’s go home,” he says, leading her to stand.

             “A-actually, I want to stay,” Cherise explains, pausing where Bucky starts to open the bathroom door. He looks down at her with worry. She sighs.

             “I’ll be fine. I promise. I just needed a minute,” she explains, glancing in the mirror to see whether her eyes are too puffy. Bucky sighs, pulling the sunglasses off his head and handing them to Cherise.

             “Are you sure, baby? I knew you were going to get upset the moment Sam and Sharon showed up with their daughter. I don’t want you to feel sad,” he explains genuinely. Bob scratches at the other side of the bathroom door, and both Bucky and Cherise really notice him for the first time.

             “Come away,” Natasha says on the other side of the door. Bucky opens it a crack.

             “Hey, are you guys alright?” Natasha asks.

             “Yeah—sorry,” Bucky says quietly, knowing that Natasha had probably seen that Cherise was crying.

             “Lunch is about ready,” Natasha explains, “Is it okay if I give Bob a turkey leg?”

             “Oh, yeah. He’ll love that,” Bucky explains, opening the door a little bit wider. Cherise is pulling her hair into a ponytail in the mirror. She turns around to grin at Natasha, who waves and starts coaxing Bob away from the door with the meat she had asked Bucky permission to give him. Anything Bucky confided in Steve, Natasha probably knew. So, there isn’t a doubt in Bucky’s mind that Natasha knows exactly what Cherise was crying about. She would probably tell Steve about it when they lie down in bed later that night, the two of them still feeling sorry for Cherise and Bucky. It wasn’t enough for them to be James Jr.’s godparents. Cherise and Bucky adored the boy, but still needed their own kid. Steve and Natasha made a point to have excuses to get Cherise and Bucky to babysit little James as often as they could.

             “Are you sure you want to go out there, babe?” Bucky asks, blocking the door a moment and clutching her waist, “You don’t have to, if you’re not feeling up to it.” Cherise kisses his clefted chin.

             “I’m okay,” she promises, but the look on his face tells her he doesn’t fully believe her. He keeps an arm around her waist as they make their way out of the bathroom. It isn’t long before Bucky is sitting poolside again with a beer, watching Cherise judge little James’s swimming techniques. He calls her auntie Reese, and it makes her smile. Steve sitting beside Bucky cheers him up a bit.

             “Now, I don’t mean to pry,” Steve begins, “But Nat told me that Reese was crying. You two okay?”

Bucky sighs.

             “…You don’t have to answer that,” Steve explains, looking Bucky full in the eyes.

             “Well, we’re still having trouble, Steve. Like I told you. And…well, soon as Cherry saw Sharon and Sam with that little baby, it got to her.” Bucky shrugs. Steve rests a hand comfortingly on his best friend’s shoulder.

             “It’s gonna be okay, Buck.”

             “That’s what I keep tellin’ her,” Bucky explains, tilting the rest of his beer down, wishing he could truly feel its sensations. But he knows that he won’t get drunk, thanks to the serum.

             “I appreciate it, Steve. But I don’t really wanna talk about it right now. I’ve been tryin’ to stay strong for Cherry. Thing is, it’s really getting me down, too. It kills me to see her be so damn sad and I can’t fuckin’ fix it.”

             “I’m sorry, Buck…You know that Nat and I, we love you guys. Just let us know if there’s anything we can do to help.”

             Bucky smiles at Steve without teeth, nodding.

             “And, this is the last thing I’ll say about it ‘cause I’m not trying to bring down your mood, but maybe you guys should consider adopting.”

             Bucky sighs, “She cries even harder if I ever so much as utter the word adopt. But thanks for the suggestion, Steve. I know you’re just trying to be helpful.”

             Bucky is glad that Sharon and Sam’s daughter was too cranky to stay through lunch, and that the child is no longer anywhere to be seen. Bucky wasn’t sure Cherise would be able to hold it together much longer. Everyone’s kids were so cute. It was hard not to be jealous. Suddenly, Bucky can’t wait to get home and take Cherise to bed. She looks so good in her floral bikini, and he liked trying to picture her wearing it while heavily pregnant. The thought makes him smile…

               Christina won’t stop fidgeting with the dress Cherise had helped her into earlier that morning. It’s Easter Sunday and the girl would rather be anywhere other than in church. She leans tiredly against Bucky’s arm, Cherise gasping slightly and closing her eyes tightly as she grasps her stomach on the bottom left. Bucky knew his son liked to kick her there, especially when it was time to be quiet and observant. He pulls his bionic fingers gently through Christina’s long brown hair. The girl is fixated on her mother now, tugging on Cherise’s skirt and asking her if she’s okay in a whisper.

             “Shhh,” Bucky says to her. Steve’s head turns slightly, enough that his frosty eye catches sight of the family behind him. He catches a glimpse of Cherise and turns to face them. He places a hand on Cherise’s knee.

             “Are you alright?” he whispers. This garners Natasha’s attention, James Jr. sitting beside her and paying attention to the sermon.

             “Yeah. He’s just active,” Cherise whispers before briefly explaining that she has to pee. Bucky reaches for her, his hand landing on her lower back. She assures him that she’ll be right back as she waddles down the aisle. Bucky can’t help worrying about her, but he steadies his daughter on his lap now and tells her quietly to pay attention. Christina grumbles, playing with Bucky’s bionic fingers and sinking back against his chest. He had gotten distracted by memories during the sermon, as the discussion is full of references to birth, life, and death. Bucky had never really considered himself very religious, but as he clutches his daughter in his lap, he finds himself thanking God daily. He never would have fathomed a day where Cherise would actually be pregnant, let alone for a second time.

             “Love you, peanut,” Bucky whispers, kissing the top of Christina’s head. She pats his flesh hand appreciatively, making him smile widely. Her tiny hands twist the gold band on his ring finger. He always wore his wedding ring on his flesh hand. It just fit better. Bucky finds himself holding back tears of joy at the sensation of his daughter sighing, probably ready to take a nap on him then and there. He can tell that the girl is bored as shit.

             When Cherise returns, Bucky scoots closer to her in the pew, wrapping one of his arms around her waist, the hand resting on her stomach where he feels his son kick yet again, and tears of joy stream down his face. Cherise gazes up at him with a smile and they share a kiss that seems to last forever.

Chapter 11: And They Lived, Pt 1

Rose cuddled against him in bed, as he read stories of Asgard's history to her and she was enthralled by it.

"Asgard has such a rich history...it's all so fascinating," she mentioned.

"Indeed, but I am sure Andresia's history is rich as well. I'd like to know about my new home too," he said. She smiled.

"Well, then tomorrow night, we can read about Andresia," she replied, as he kissed her forehead.

"Tell me about your parents...you don't speak about them much," he said, as she looked up at him.

"I don't remember much, unfortunately. They died when I was six...but from what I do remember, they were both very kind," she replied.

"My father was King Richard and my mother Queen Penelope. They struggled to conceive and said I was their miracle baby," she continued.

"I concur about you being a miracle," he said, making her smile.

"Mother loved the gardens and the library. Father too, especially the library. He read to me every night about far off worlds and told me that I would find true love like in the stories he read to me," she said.

"I doubted him for a while when John was in control...but he was right. I found true love," she said and then frowned.

"They died on a trip to a neighboring Kingdom in the mountain region. Out of nowhere, a terrible snow storm developed and they were killed in an avalanche on the mountain pass," she said sadly.

"I'm so sorry…" he said.

"It was a long time ago...but John wasted no time moving in on the Throne since I was too young to rule," he replied.

"Well...he's gone now. He'll never hurt us again," he promised, as they shared a kiss.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?" he asked.

"I don't know...I didn't think I'd ever be Queen. It's intimidating," she replied.

"You are a natural...look at the way you handled that foolish Duke and his wife," he reminded her.

"I suppose...I'm just glad I will not be ruling alone," she said.

"Well, I will leave the diplomacy to you, my angel, but I will excel in commanding our armed forces," he replied. She smiled.

"I know you will, my handsome warrior," she purred, as they shared another kiss and she straddled his waist. He looked up at her with sheer awe and reverence, as she reached over and turned the lantern down, as their love consumed them whole.

The palace was bustling with activity, as most of the Kingdom was in attendance on this special occasion. On this very night, Andresia was throwing a grand coronation for Rose Red and crowning her as Queen.

Fandral waited at the top of the sprawling staircase for them to be announced. He was wearing a custom made version of his familiar Asgardian armor, only a much more formal version. He turned his head and saw Rose approaching in an incredible red, glittering ball gown, complete with a tiara atop her head.

"Oh Rose…" he uttered.

"You don't think it's too bold?" she asked, almost shyly.

"No...you look so incredibly beautiful and you never fail to take my breath away," he replied, as he offered his arm and she hooked her hand on his elbow, as he led her down the stairs

"Kingdom of Andresia, presenting our new royals. Prince Fandral and our Queen, Rose Red!" it was announced, as they were warmly received by their people and the coronation and ball commenced.

In the first two years of their rule, many changes were made that benefited the people. Rose abolished John's high taxes and launched a Kingdom wide rebuilding project. She rejuvenated rundown villages and invested in their markets, so they could produce more of their own goods and export less from outside Kingdoms. This helped the villages thrive and close the wealth gap.

The library was now well organized and kept, despite the fact that new books appeared almost constantly. She didn't mind that work at all though and enjoyed the endless upkeep.

But those weren't the only changes in their lives and soon they found themselves welcoming a new addition to the royal family.

Rose cried out in pain and squeezed her husband's hand, while the midwife helped her birth their first child. Fandral dabbed her forehead with a cool cloth.

"You're doing amazing, my angel…" he said, as she looked at him.

"I love you," she breathed.

"I love you," he said.

"The baby's head is crowning, Your Majesty...this will be a big push," the midwife instructed. Rose nodded and breathed, before pushing and crying out as she did so, while Fandral held her. Rose fell back against him after the big push and he wiped her brow again.

"Okay...you're almost there, Your Majesty. Just one more really big push," the midwife instructed.

"I can see the head...you're almost there, my love," he urged and she cried out once more, as she pushed again. There was a cry from their newborn, as she fell back against him in exhaustion.

"Ohh…" she uttered, as they watched the midwife clean the baby off and wrap her in a blanket.

"Congratulations, Your Majesties, you have a baby girl," the midwife said, as she was placed in Rose's arms. Fandral was speechless, as he stared down at the tiny bundle in awe.

"Oh Fandral...she's beautiful," Rose gushed. Any pain that she had gone through had been forgotten, as she held their child.

"She is...she's perfect," he croaked, as emotions threatened to overwhelm him. As a warrior, he never really entertained the possibility of having this and he felt incredibly blessed that everything he had gone through had led him to this life.

"Carina…we should call her Carina," Rose said. He smiled.

"That's perfect," he agreed, as he sat beside her and marveled at their baby. They looked at each other and shared a tender kiss. This was another new beginning for them.

Time, as it always does, passed quickly. Rose and Fandral presented their daughter to the Kingdom when she was just a few weeks old and the people rejoiced, relishing in

their bright future. Rose and Fandral watched her grow with absolute joy. They continued to rule the Kingdom together and maintain their library. Carina learned to read very early on, but gladly let her parents read to her every night. Hermes visited often and even revealed to them that Heimdall knew he was still alive and not much time had passed in Fandral's home world. Hermes informed them that they could travel to the edge of realms if they ever needed to make contact. So they arranged a trip there to do just that.

They came through the tunnel and into the splendor that was the edge of realms.

"This is beautiful," Rose said, as he helped her and their five-year-old off their horse.

"Yes...truly gorgeous," he agreed, as a rainbow colored stream of light was suddenly before them and Heimdall appeared.

"Heimdall…" Fandral said.

"So you live...and much has changed for you, I see," he said. Fandral nodded with a smile.

"This is my wife...Queen Rose Red and our daughter Carina," he said, as she bowed.

"It's an honor to meet you, Heimdall. I have read all of Asgard's history and you are a hero. Carina enjoys your stories too," she said. He gave a rare smile.

"The honor is all mine, Your Majesty," he said, as he looked at the tiny girl in her arms.

"Hello little one," he said.

"I was hoping...of news from Asgard," Fandral replied.

"I am afraid Asgard has been destroyed, but fortunately, so has Hela with it. Thor is leading our survivors to Earth to settle," he informed.

"I suppose Volstagg and Hogun were not as lucky as I?" he asked.

"I am afraid not. They have perished," Heimdall replied.

"Does Thor know of my survival?" Fandral asked.

"No...and I believe it is best to keep that a secret for now. It is still a very tumultuous time in our universe and I cannot in good conscience do anything that might jeopardize your family," he advised. He nodded.

"I agree...thank you Heimdall," he said. He nodded.

"Call if you should need me again and I will answer your summon," he replied, as he bowed to Rose Red again.

"Goodbye Heimdall," she said.

"Goodbye little one," he said, as he disappeared through the bi-frost again. They shared a smile and joined hands, as they prepared to return to Andresia.
