There's something incredibly marvelous and mind boggling that the 100gfs polycule has gotten up to 30 members, an astonishingly absurd amount of not only romantic relationships, but literally just even a high number characters to include in an ensemble cast story
And yet they are all still quite distinct and well characterized (if rather one-note sometimes) even going to the lengths of spending multiple chapters without the protagonist in it just to ensure that each of the girls is well fleshed out and their relationships with the other girls make sense! And then you remember that the manga is called 100 Girlfriends for a good reason and having proven that they can get to 30, it slowly dawns on you that they are not bluffing in any way shape or form and they truly and sincerely intend to create 100 unique girlfriends and integrate them all seamlessly into the cast
Truly unfathomable

God, Chapter 147 of the 100 gfs “Tama of a Wealthy family” really hits hard for me and it kinda made me mad when someone said that Tama had a stupid reason for feeling bad.
Like the felt bad because she felt useless compared to others, even if you are lazy, even if you hate work more than anything in the world, even if you’d like to become a cat and lounge around all day, the idea of the people you love doing their best to improve and be part of a society can really make you feel bad when you’re doing nothing.
I personally had to take a break year after High School cuz I was really depressed and didn’t feel ready for such a big change like University, so I took it. Yet when it came down to actually relaxing, it felt like hell. Yes, I did do nothing all day and I just lounged around, keeping myself occupied, but I felt awful, like I was wasting my life away while my family did productive stuff and I was just a burden. It was probably when my mental health issues were at their worst.
I really felt for Tama and I dunno I think it makes sense that you might not want to do anything at all, yet feel like a piece of shit while doing so.

The thing that gets me about 100gfs is that, by all accounts, the ever-increasing size of its cast isn't as outrageous as it sounds on paper. It is easy to gloss over how large the number of characters, recurring or otherwise, can get in several other series, be they manga or not. I'm fairly sure that, even not counting random NPCs, Trails comfortably approaches that number.
What's impressive however is that we're not talking about merely recurring or even secondary characters, but the main cast. Barring the occasional focus chapter, nobody ever gets behind and is always around to chime in with a catchphrase or as part of the current joke, and while obviously there tends to be some repetition because of the gimmicky nature of their design, the pacing somehow never stumbles nor takes any shortcuts to remind you that, hey, gf number 15 is here too. Even if we don't account for the ludicrous amounts of meta humor, the atmosphere created by this persisting relevance feels unique in ways that not even the likes of, I don't know, Negima with its equally sizeable cast couldn't approach. It's like taking a peek into an increasingly crowded, yet neatly organized toybox. I couldn't fathom coming up with zany scenarios while having to juggle all that. The author's notes would fill the most insane corkboard you could fathom

After having that Rentarou mpreg dream, I realized that there's definitely going to be a chapter somewhere down the line where Kusuri creates a genderswap drug so we'll see what 100BFs would look like
It's a pretty popular theory that we'll get a trans soulmate sooner or later, so that might be a good opportunity to introduce a gimmick like that

100gfs you can't do this to me, you can't have this very nice and sweet chapter about the anxieties if creation, imposter syndrome and these two really bonding over their shared love of stories and then have them both chug monster energy together
