While everyone is talking about cinematic and the plot, I'll talk about music.

After listening a little harder, I recognised it. It's a cover of "Polovitsan Dances" From an opera called Prince Igor. This opera is based on an old book, "the tale of Igor's campaign". This story is about Russian Prince (knyaz) Igor, who decided to go on a campaign against Polovitsans. Despite winning the first battle, he ultimately loses and gets captured by the enemies. He spends some time in a foreign land, before escaping with some help. In the meantime his wife, Yaroslavna, cries, worrying for her husband.

Though, enough of the synopsis, let's get to the song. Polovitsan Dances is an unbelievably beautiful song, but I'd like to talk about lyrics. Ofc they are in Russian, but there are translations in English. Anyway, the song starts with Polovitsan maidens singing about their homeland. About beautiful mountains, bright sun, endless sky, freedom etc. The latter part of this song is sung by men and sings praises to Khan. Though, women's part is the most popular.

Idk why I just told you that. It's just a nice detail. I know Fit loves using his music as metaphors and hints, but I don't think it's the case here. A lot of people know this song as just a beautiful melody and don't know of it's origins (I too discovered it pretty recently), I don't think it leads anywhere. If I squint I can imagine it's maaay refer to Madagio missing his island (the way it used to be). His freedom, friends and beautiful paysages. But it's a reach.

Speaking of the AACTAs I really hope Sam gets the award this year for the Newsreader, criminal that he hasn't got one for the first two seasons.

As a J*cob Elordi hater, I am chewing glass already over even the thought that Sam might lose to him for The Narrow Road to the Deep North, and my only hope is that the voting body might a) recognise talent, b) choose Sam as an acknowledgement for the three seasons with the series ending, and c) vote against TNRttDN because everything I've heard about that set has been a horror story.

#so my mom's wake thing was today and that was a lot. not in an emotional sense but in a im standing here talking for 3hrs #to ppl i dont kno or barely kno. ya kno? but it was good bc so many ppl showed up to talk abt her #so many people. my mom made a huge impact on the school system. so many ppl relied on her. she encouraged at least 2 ppl to get their #master. for one person to specilize in helping the dyslexic after her experience advocating for 3 dyslexic daughters. she wrote and was #awarded a 10000 dollar grant for special needs and intervention curriculum. which will affect so many lives.#everyone loved her. she's gonna get a track meet named after her and a scholarship created in her honor.#she was an amazing person and she affected a lot of lives and im glad she was my mom. and she raised at least one jem in my littlest #sister who is so sweet and is a great teacher. god but there was some weird stuff too. were pretty sure her old boss was in love with her.#and there were some weird comments abt her being a strong woman or this woman doing so much and its like hm y do i detect a note of sexism #y not say she was an amazing person? y the surprise? weird comments about how pretty i looked. which yes i looked great lol. my funeral fit #was cute. we did bright colors bc it was a celebration not a dower event. and im sure it was ment well but it was a lil weird. and then #everyone was telling my grandma what a great job she did raising my mom and like god fuck off she didn't do jack. my mom was great despite #her terrible mother. ugh. but altogether it was good that everyone was able to express their love for her. it was def a day that was for #them mostly. i mean partly for us but mostly for them. none of us even cried. ay but we have 2 more parties in her honor #bc everyone loved her so much we have to do one in her hometown too. plus a personal friends get together. ugh. im so tired #i wish i wasnt the most awkward. eye contact avoidant person in the room but like ya kno. what can ya do?#unrelated

woke up at 4am feeling the weight of my life crushing me, so I’ve been sitting out in my car for the last couple of hours because I just need. to. be. somewhere else.

#tumblr ate something like this but I think I deserve to shout uselessly into the void #shits rough dawg #I know it’s rough for everyone. I feel shitty even talking about myself. still… compelled to vent… big butts #haven’t really been on here much since it hasn’t really scratched that itch lately & just makes me feel lonelier #it’s cold #saw the Jazzercise studio open across the street. 5am for Jazzercise? wow. early.#and then everyone left an hour and a half later. lights out. everybody gone. weird schedule. I am perplexed.#went down the road and got a soda and I’ve been sitting in my driveway contemplating for the last 2.5 hours #guy at the gas station tried to talk to me but I just half assed a smile and nod and left #even though I know I’d love to just… talk to someone. I suppose it has to be ‘on my terms’ whatever those are #I miss having a therapist. or even just when my little brothers would talk to me. when anyone would. blegh #my insurance is still a mess and I’m about to run out of one of my blood pressure meds this week #maybe I’ll have a stroke. scary to think about. I think about dying a lot but that potential feels too real. just… pop! and I’m done.#I’ll try today to finally push to straighten it out but everything feels daunting #woke up with so much anxiety. about my health. my hearing. no money. my life. had to get out of the house even if it’s just right outside #hate to say it but I need(want) thc. haven’t wanted to spend money on it but I could have really used it this morning #can’t be sad if you can’t feel anything (jokingly but also not. whichever is less sad sounding)#actually treated myself to Dune 2 last week and it was so so good. wish I could go again. but it’s drugs food or movie right now. so…#I know. dumb priority but BIG SCREEN. maybe it’ll hit theaters again for the next awards season hopefully. just a real nice loud experience #anyway… I should go inside. almost 7am. need to take my brothers to school then drive my mom to her daily appointments #I’ve felt so hollow and angry and sad for so long it feels like. isn't it wild how you can play through an entire indie game in a single day and be left with a deeper, more profound experience, story, moral or question all wrapped in a more unique and impactful art style than many triple a games nowadays. for like 8 bucks.

#indie games i love you forever #this isn't about anything in particular but #i think about gris every time the conversation centers big expensive time consuming games #i think this year was pretty solid tho! apart from stinkers like diablo 4 or starfield. but maybe the industry isn't lost #looking at bg3 or alan wake 2 getting a lot of recognition. both are still somewhat underdogs compared to the standard #but they're nominated for goty! and bg3 will probably take it. meanwhile the two opposites faded into the sidelines instantly #i need to play viewfinder cocoon and hi fi rush too (which is nominated for goty as well iirc you love to see it)#but i just love that indie approach and comparably still smaller studios are getting out there #and the indie category itself is holding its own between these and the big studio snoozefests and nintendo's circlejerk #there's still a lot to improve about game awards - a horror game category would be neat for example and generally more diversity in titles #what is forspoken why isn't anyone talking about it apart from like 5 tumblr users. also pentiment where???#but idk. maybe it's just this one year but it looks hopeful for the future. who knows #shut up elis #the game awards 2023 #(i guess)
