Ya'll, this game is hilarious. Every Friday the town gathers at the inn, and one group plays Dragons and Drama and you actually get to read their sessions.

Also, I decorated the area for the best boi!

He has a heart and not a gem next to his name... which means he'll probably gain a humanoid form at some point. Is definitely one of the two secret romanceables. Hehehehe. I hope he gets to keep his horns.

Caldarus is adorable and I love him. I can't wait for this game to be totally finished so I can unlock him. Because, sorry, Balor, Eiland, Ryis, March, but I want to marry the dragon. He already lives on my farm! Literally right next to the house. Practically married already.

Anyways, if you don't play Fields of Mistria, you definitely should.

It's still Early Access but there's a lot of content and it's delightful. YOU GET TO USE MAGIC. You can breed cows and chickens and get fancy colors. THE TOWNSFOLK ACTUALLY HAVES LIVES.

Straight up, Balor and another romanceable npc (I can't remember who) went to Hayden's, I was trying to find Balor to give him a gift, and then Hayden was like, "Hey, bud, did you skip dinner?" and then gave my farmer a slice of quiche because they were all eating quiche together, and Balor went, "Hayden's the type of guy who won't let a friend go hungry" and it was SO cute.

Also, they comment on the stuff you bring to the museum, and if you just bought an animal- as shown with the Caldarus screenshot above, because I bought a cow- but like. HOH BOI. It's so good. It's such a cute game.

Sanji: I wanted him to mainly be in the legs, while the shoulders and arms were closer together. Compact up top, Watermelon Crushers on the bottom. i vaguely designed him with the Marathon runner from the reference image in mind. I differ from the reference in that i give him upper body muscles cuz he loves his break dancing moves and you need hella muscles for that.

Zoro: Big tits & Tank Body. Cant knock this cat over.

Sabo: This man in my eyes is a Barbie Doll. Long Legs Tiny Torso. Winx Club Sailor Moon lookin mf. In part inspired by this panel of him:

Nami: My headcanon for Nami is that when we first meet her she is very skinny and malnourished, then overtime living with the strawhats she gains weight and progressively gets chubby. I just think that Sanji always cooking her such nutritious meals and tasty sweets, and not needing to fight for herself all the time, would lead to her lovely new body type. Something, something, 'to be loved is to be changed'.

Plus, her new fighting styles isnt like "im wacking you with this stick" anymore, its more "I'm moving this stick in this direction and striking you with the lighting coming from it". That still needs muscles though so i gave her some good muscles up top :3

Ace: He's the dorito man of the universe. Broad shoulders, itty bitty waist. I modeled him after the basketball player in the reference image Alton Huston. i think that he would focus his athleticism in Jumping and Throwing (literally) punches, so it leads me to think he would build the same muscles a basketball player would.

i had a lot of fun drawing these, i love love love drawing anatomy and this was a good learning experience on top of that. One of the ways i drag myself out of art block is i just do art studies so this is kinda that.

Mitsuri's weirdness is slept on me thinks. It's true that Mitsuri sorta represents normalcy in kny's bleak setting, despite being seen as unusual over something she can't control, but still, she's a weirdo <3 (affectionate) Maybe people forget that Mitsuri is weird because she doesn't have deceased parents (therefore isn't as unhinged as the other characters) and is girly(?) so surely, she must like normal girly things like makeup and shopping. I mean true! I'm sure she enjoys those, but I don’t think those are the only things she would like. (besides food ofc) Mitsuri is depicted as so stereotypically girly that it is unconventional in itself. She made the boys wear LEOTARDS in the hashira training arc. She's weird in a childish whimsey sort of way.

Mitsuri is a fangirl. She gushes over her colleagues at the most inappropriate times, but she compliments the things that are unconventional, like Sanemi's scars, Giyuu being quiet, or Obanai being snakey. (whatever that means)

Ya girl is also so obsessed with cats that her breathing style techniques are named after cats?? Complete with meowing sound effects too. Cat Love shower hello?!??.

Also I feel that aside from normal girly things, Mitsuri would LOVE magical girl things like sailor moon. There's so much magical girl motifs to her. She is like obsessed with cute things that her breathing in itself is super colorful and shiny, with bubbles and glitters. She also does a lot of unnecessary backflips, because she's just that. Extra.

She even has little hearts on her tsuka! Everyone else is regular looking or plain. I think she's the only one with that kind of design on her katana.

And I don't think these are a coincidence. Even in extra materials she literally has a ridiculous yet adorable OC named Big Hand Cat.

Look at her dragon even! Its so silly and whimsy I love it. It's like her cat oc in dragon form, complete with the big anime eyes. Again, Mitsuri would soooo love anime.

She even made a manga where the characters are based on FOOD

In short, Mitsuri is equivalent to THAT weird art kid. She's a weirdo let her be weird. 🩷

So I've been watching the new (and old) anime for Sailor Moon because holy shit after a childhood of trying and failing to see the whole story when it was only syndicated at 6:30 am on weekends and it was always the same few episodes with only the occasional glimpse of the epic shit that happened in later seasons, it's a miracle to me that kids these days can just turn on this show and watch it linearly and there's even a version that follows the manga.

*Ahem* Anyway, I just gotta say, maybe I'm biased because I'm the Sailor Moon Generation™️ so of course the story seems like it's genius to me, but man is this story genius like holy shit did Sailor Moon understand the damn assignment.

The Power Fantasy, holy crap, the power fantasy of it all. If you project onto the protagonist you are a normal teen girl who was the magical moon princess in a past life. When your kingdom fell to undeniably evil forces, you were cruelly ripped away from your beautiful soulmate, your amazing powerful friends, your loving magical mother and your ethereal magical kingdom. Now, you're given magical superpowers to help avenge those who wronged you, and you're steadily reunited with your magical beautiful amazing friends and your soulmate, who all adore you even when you're not perfect. Someday you know you will grow up into an ethereally beautiful, powerful demi-goddess who will rule the galaxy in a benign Golden Age

If you don't project onto Usagi, then the show is literally full of other women and girls* (and I mean the term as inclusively as possible), who don't all fit the same feminine ideal, a lot of them aren't even feminine or identify all the time as female, and the whole point is that there's many ways to be a girl, or to be a person, but you can all be magical Sailor Guardians who protect the universe with your celestial magical powers of awesomeness. You can be a mystical priestess, a smart nerd who wants to be a doctor like her mom, a strong fighter who nevertheless loves flowers and wants to find love with a handsome boy, or you can be in a long term steady relationship with your soulmate who is another woman that transcends space and time, a race car driver, a rockstar, a musician, the show just kills it at having a whole cast of different ways you can be a Sailor Scout and they are all valid.

Even when you get into the villains and stuff, they're pretty much all gorgeous and all obsessed with Usagi, either as she is now, or in her magical past life or in her future life as a benevolent demigoddess ruler of the universe. Like. The power fantasy of it all. Throw in just a really pretty art style, all the zodiac and celestial planet imagery, the mythology tie ins not to mention the lore of these beautiful interplanetary kingdoms all centered on the heavenly Moon Kingdom, like...

It just gets the power fantasy thing in a way I think many magical girl stories even within the genre have attempted but never fully replicated. There's a lightning in a bottle aspect to Sailor Moon that when I go back to it, even as an adult watching what is mostly a children's show, I find myself nodding along like "Yeah, yeah, this shit was fucking amazing, no wonder I was obsessed."

Okay, honest question, who is Yotsuba?

OH HO HO ANON I AM ALL TOO HAPPY TO EXPLAIN :3

Yotsuba is a character from the greatest manga ever made, Yotsuba&!(or Yotsuba to! it translates weird, most fans just call it Yotsuba) which is a comedy slice-of-life manga about Yotsuba Koiwai, a five year old girl, and her very strange yet wholesome family and friends!

It's from the same mangaka who gave us Azumanga Daioh, though while that manga is told in a four-panel comic style and doesn't really have much of an overarching plot, Youtsuba is done in a traditional manga style and despite also being very episodic there is a bit of a throughline surrounding Youtsuba getting settled into the neighborhood she just moved to, growing up, and eventually, in the later chapters, getting ready to go to school for the first time. Also, there are storylines that take place over multiple chapters as well! Despite the fact that the manga has been releasing since 2003, the chapters are pretty sporadic and the comic has only really covered about one year of the character's lives, but it never really feels slow or aimless. It feels almost...timeless? I guess. It's really nice.

Anyway, the manga is legit one of the most wholesome, funny, heartwarming things I have ever read. Kiyohiko Azuma is a fucking MASTER of comedy(you may have seen screencaps from a Sailor Moon fan comic he made going around on tumblr in which Jupiter accidentally sends Venus shooting across a pool that made me laugh so hard I cried) and he balances it well with lots of slow moments with GORGEOUS artwork where you can really take in the scenery and all of it is seeped in a wonderful nostalgia for childhood that legit makes me super emotional.

I don't think the manga has ever really taken off in terms of popularity, at least not to the degree that it deserves imo, which is likely in part due to the creator being firm about it never getting an anime adaptation and the sporadic release schedule, but it's far from unknown. There's been an official(I think??) score released and plenty of figurines and merch. It's also birthed a lot of memes, and it def has the same issue as One Piece where if you read it and love it you will turn into a walking billboard and try to drag your friends and family in with you. It's just THAT good!

You may have seen art of or people cosplaying Danbo, a "robot" made of old cardboard boxes that Yotsuba adores (Totally a real robot btw, def doesn't have a middle schooler shoved inside there, that would be silly wdym /s)

And this pose from the back of one of the manga volumes featuring Yotsuba, her father, and their extremely tall friend Jumbo has been redrawn with other characters like 500000 billion times

And you've also probably seen this going around tumblr before (that's Fūka she's my favorite cringe fail daughter I would literally die for her).

Also, I would be doing a disservice if I didn't mention Yanda, who is a friend of Yotsuba's dad and also Yotsuba's nemesis. He's a loser who constantly gets dunked on by a toddler it's fucking hilarious.

But yeah it really is just like, a manga that feels like a hug, or a warm blanket or something, it's so comforting and funny and fantastic, I find myself re-reading it any time life gets to be too hard just bcs it's that good at distracting me and reminding me that live is worth living.

And also given that it's literally my favorite manga, I saved up a bunch of screencaps to use as reaction images after a read one time, and thus now it's my own little joke that if you send me anon hate I'm just gonna send you back a picture of this cutie

I don't draw or write about them often, mostly because I don't feel like I'm very good at it, but here I admit that I love superheroes. Always have. Though, I tend to stick to movies and series. I enjoy comic books, but I am terrible at keeping up with things. The ever-present reboots and crossovers only confuse me more.

All this is to say I've recently started watching "My Adventures with Superman." I first heard about it here on Tumblr.

I'm only in the first season, but I'm really liking it so far. Feels like the anime-style art is done well.

The characters, especially the trio of Clark, Lois and Jimmy feel so open and sincere. I don't find that very often in the superhero world, and it's great to see.

I also like how they embrace the more fantastical elements of the story. Knew I'd be in love when I saw they gave Clark a Sailor Moon style transformation sequence.

I respect other ships, but I've always been a Clark and Lois shipper. They're iconic to me, like Super Mario and Princess Peach.

They endeared themselves to me just in the two-part pilot.

After the encounter with the robots, Lois is digging through the rubble with her bare hands in search of Clark. She's terrified at the idea that he could be hurt.

And then the surprise and relief on her face when she sees him. At this point, she's known him for about all of one day. This Lois is a sweetheart.

I have to draw fanart of these two sometime.

I know she's always been smaller than him, but she looks especially tiny and it is adorable.

As are the little blush marks on his face.

And the way she looks up at him afterward, I have no more words💖💖

Thank you for reading these rambling first impressions. Maybe later seasons and episodes will change my mind, (I hope not), but right now, this is a nice break from real life.

I went to Sydney for Alphonse Mucha

One thing to know about me, I was an interior design major back in my home country. I absolutely sucked at it, but I fell in love with Art History. In that minor, our professors taught us about different art styles through the ages and bit by bit I saw the progress of art through the ages. I loved the OG Gothic Style, Romanesque, was disillusioned with Baroque and Rococo from the west... It was too Western focused and it didn't interest me as much (because I was an Asian kid) until we got towards the end of the 19th century where the grandparents of weebs (of which I am a part of) hailed from and Japonisme was a thing. Japonisme inspired so much beautiful art and it triggered a domino effect that ultimately led to Art Nouveau where Alphonse Mucha was a main character.

This was it. My favourite art style! I can never go back to loving other art styles after discovering Art Nouveau. It spoke to me about how feminine it was and it awakened something from my mostly masculine soul. I wanted to see more of these beautiful girls surrounded by flowers and stars, wearing kimono-inspired clothes in pretty pastels. The macaroni hair only added to the romanticism of it all. This is what love is like, but in art form!

Fast forward to 2024, The Mucha Foundation collaborated with the Art Gallery of New South Wales to host over 200 of this master's works which was "the most comprehensive exhibition ever seen in Australia of this visionary artist's work". I had to see it. I needed to see it! I am a big fan of Mucha and Art Nouveau, and one of my dreams was to go to Paris, Brussels, and Prague for all of the beautiful swirly-whirlies. Being a Brisbanite, I was exited. Please come to my city! Please, please, please! But AGNSW said "sorry, it's exclusive to Sydney."

Dammit. It's off to Sydney I go. I donned my Sailor Moon dress, packed my bag for a 3 day trip with my partner just so I could see this legend's works and boy, I was not disappointed. I learned to love Mucha and his works even more. We landed in Sydney, didn't check in our hotel, and went straight to the main quest:

Outside, they had this big banner of Mucha's name. Inside was this glorious area that showcased Summer (left) and Rose (right). Oh wait, the exhibit is next door. So we went to the more modern building, down two floors, bought tickets, and enjoyed the art.

In the newer building next door, I was treated to pre-art nouveau Mucha. We learned about what his life was like before his popularity. He designed some clothes for a theatre, hung out with everyone's buddy Paul Gaugin, Ludek Marold and Annah the Javanese. The tour guide said, "if he wasn't a painter, he would've been a great photographer".

Then we were treated to the meat of the exhibit: the Sarah Bernhardt stuff, his lithographs, his sketches, but what struck me most were his concept art to reality. (Excuse my phone's shadow. For some reason, AGNSW decided to put these works on a 45° angle under bright lights. The girl beside me even said "fucking glare!" and I wholeheartedly agreed.)

We were treated to so many wonderful works and I cried when I saw parts of Le Pater. I'm an atheist but this made me think that maybe there is a god. Maybe. But still, beautiful artwork that left me speechless.

I got to stand next to my favourite work of his: White Star. Joy!

At the end of the exhibit, the tour guide talked about how Mucha who was somewhat influenced by Japan, now influenced Japan. Now we come full circle with anime and manga characters depicted in art nouveau styled paintings and posters. Oh boy, we had our Lord Yoshitaka Amano's works in the gallery as well. I was so lucky to see works of my two favourite artists in one day!

It was almost 2PM by the time we finished the tour. We spent at least 4 hours in the gallery after landing just because I fangirled and was willing to spend money on Mucha. Yeah, I bought stuff. A reproduction of Alphonse Mucha's original "Documents Decoratifs" which focused more on his industrial design work (jewellery, cutlery, furniture etc) which I rarely see on the internet, a set of badges and make-up from Japanese brand MilleFée.

I went to Sydney for Alphonse Mucha and it was worth it. I end this rabid fangirling with the parting words of the Art Gallery of New South Wales' tour guide: Mucha's style has never been as well loved and as well represented as it is in Japan.

Putting together that list for the death of Superman introduced me to something I'd never heard of before, and now I need to do a write-up about it because it's just so 90s it makes me smile.

Picture this: it's 1993. Over in Japan, Sailor Moon has spent a little over a year rocketing up the charts as a full blown cultural phenomenon that won't slow down any time soon, and western companies want in. Only one company's going to score the license, however, and their first attempt at a localized adaptation (not a dub) was still a year away.

So what's everyone else to do? Make their own pretty fighting princess cartoons to merchandise, of course. And Mattel's first plan was to rope in DC Comics, since they already had the perfect superhero princess on hand.

Not Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld -- who, honestly, would've been an amazing fit for this in retrospect -- no no. Their plan: turn Wonder Woman into Sailor Moon.

Thus: Wonder Woman and the Star Riders.

I love how you can tell those designs were made for dolls because, just like the original She-Ra, they're about 50% hair.

Two of the other characters in this line-up are also adaptations of DC superheroines: Ice (in white/pink) and Dolphin (in blue) respectively. The other two characters, Solara (in yellow) and Star Lily (the token Black) were created for the series, though apparently Star Lily would go on to inspire a kid from the WW Rebirth comics named Star Blossom, so that's cute.

There was supposed to be a line of toys and a cartoon for this franchise, but the only thing that was ever completed was this one little 14-page comic released through a cross-promotion with Kellogg's Cinnamon Mini Buns cereal.

NGL, I find the silly little thing deeply amusing because it's just. So 90s, and so obviously written to sell toys. Like how it's set mostly in this "magical palace" mostly made up of big open rooms with like, one piece of furniture each (so you can more easily move to dolls around). Or how despite being called "the Star Riders" there's exactly two differently-colored pegasus-unicorns, one pink for Wonder Woman and one white for Dolphin, because they're presumably the most expensive dolls and parents will only be willing to spend so much money.

The villain, Purrisa, feels like they came at her from the angle of Magical Girl Catwoman. She gets to ride on a flying cowardly panther and wants to steal the heroines' magical macguffin gems because that's what the plot tended to be in these early 90s Sailor Moon rip-offs (including Sabon Moon, come to think of it).

It's interesting to see this rough approximation of early 90s girly comic art try to replicate the signature sparkles & laser beams style fighting of a magic girl battle show though.

And of course they give Diana a magic wand with a star on it. At least, I think that's what that is? The bottom kinda looks like an umbrella. Maybe she's supposed to be throwing something.

She still has the lasso. I mostly want to share this page because it's the best shots we get of Sailor Diana with the massive cape and even more massive hair. Not to mention the pink bracelets and Star Sapphire belt.

NGL, I kinda wish they would've made that doll.

So yeah, that's Wonder Woman and the Star Riders: goofy, fluffy, never got off the ground, with its toy designs mostly repurposed into something called Tenko and the Guardians of Magic. But still I think a very entertaining little time capsule.

this is juraj slafkovsky and his dinky little middle part which he can absolutely learn to style into something a little less dinky but never does. i am so charmed by him. i imagine he just rocks it because his pretty privilege supersedes dinky middle parts . LMAO!!

wanna know some puckpocketed deep lore? i've never been one to make OCs. i was just not a very creative kid tbh. spent all my time drawing sailor moon instead. i still go back to her sometimes because she is one of my favourite shapes in the WORLD!!

in my 20s i took up playing d&d because of the. uh. plague. <3 and got pretty close to having OCs!! those count right? anyway. here is my tavern-wench-turned-wizard!!! i think i painted this 2 years ago? <- put dates on your works guys it saves lives. her name is Mel (short for Melins (pronounced like melons. on account of her knockers. can you tell i never grew out of my 12 yr old booby/cock joke era?) i revisited Mel recently and have started painting her in earnest again!! :3

I briefly dated someone who was very into streetwear and fashion, and I fell down a techwear/gorpcore/cyberpunk rabbit hole for a couple days out of curiosity. i remember literally zero salient info on any of it except the broad strokes of silhouetting and Vibes. what i emerged with, however, was a ?? sorta OC?? im not sure what to call them. they dont rly have a name or gender. I did this little sheet ages ago + the aborted attempt at a portrait later:

Here are my most recent explorations (i have been doing SOOOO much art. <3) which include:

unfinished character sheet + chibi art. I played with their jacket (much more structured/square/tailored thing) and added a lotta random buckles and belts. i took textiles class years ago and have a little experience in garment construction. and i know for a fact this thing does not make any sense. it hurts me to look at a little bit LMAO so i've paused it while i go draft patterns (badly. i was never good at drafting. i think i may have to break out my scrap fabric stash and hand sew a real life mock-up. HELP!)

here is me having fun with them and imagining them as some kind of cyber-fisherman. the best part of every game is the fishing mini-game to me. i love fishing mini-games so much. I made their hair really big because i wanted them to have big unwieldy hair and the vibes told me i should add more movement to the piece aside from the fishing line. I messed with their jacket AGAIN because i can't stop thinking about what kinda jacket they'd wear. gorp-core ? idk. it sure is something!

back in my weeb era for real YAYYYY!!! up til now i'd been making hockey art using a zero pressure sensitivity pen brush because i simply did NOT want to deal with that. it is and has always been a barrier to me making art that uses line art. <3 easing my way back into it though!

I used to paint gifts for my friends and then get them printed into lil posters and mount them on nice backing :3 i am now ready and back to painting.

Here is my girlbestie's OC. just a rough pose sketch. i think im pretty unsatisfied with the gesture of the head/hand. i wanted to include her gun in some way. i fear i may have to rework the pose entirely <3

For the genshin girlies.. here are some of my friends fave characters.

Yelan - this one i started many holidays ago and put on the backburner because the colouring was wigging me out. you can see where i started rendering stuff + got sidetracked and started on something else (the crystal choker IM LAUGHING @ past me...)

Ayaka - I reaaally like what i did here with the perspective + foreshortening. I don't know if the pose or expression is in-character or not, but i had fun :3 got stunlocked looking at references of genshin weapons so this is where i left off:
