Jesus Tells of the House of God
1 Jesus went out of the house of God. On the way His followers came to Him to show Him the buildings of the house of God. 2 Jesus said to them, “Do you see all these things? For sure, I tell you, all these stones will be thrown down. Not one will be left standing on another.”
Jesus Teaches on the Mount of Olives
3 Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. The followers came to Him when He was alone and said, “Tell us, when will this happen? What can we look for to show us of Your coming and of the end of the world?”
4 Jesus said to them, “Be careful that no one leads you the wrong way. 5 Many people will come using My name. They will say, ‘I am Christ.’ They will fool many people and will turn them to the wrong way. 6 You will hear of wars and lots of talk about wars, but do not be afraid. These things must happen, but it is not the end yet. 7 Nations will have wars with other nations. Countries will fight against countries. There will be no food for people. The earth will shake and break apart in different places. 8 These things are the beginning of sorrows and pains.
9 “Then they will hand you over to be hurt. They will kill you. You will be hated by all the world because of My name. 10 Many people will give up and turn away at this time. People will hand over each other. They will hate each other. 11 Many false religious teachers will come. They will fool many people and will turn them to the wrong way. 12 Because of people breaking the laws and sin being everywhere, the love in the hearts of many people will become cold. 13 But the one who stays true to the end will be saved.
14 “This Good News about the holy nation of God must be preached over all the earth. It must be told to all nations and then the end will come.
Days of Trouble and Pain and Sorrow
15 “You will see a sinful man-made god standing in the house of God in Jerusalem. It was spoken of by the early preacher Daniel. The one who reads this should understand it. 16 Then those in the country of Judea should run to the mountains. 17 The man who is on the top of his house should not come down to take anything out of his house. 18 The man who is in the field should not go back to get his coat. 19 It will be hard for a woman who will soon be a mother. It will be hard for the ones feeding babies in those days! 20 Pray that you will not have to go in the winter or on the Day of Rest. 21 In those days there will be very much trouble and pain and sorrow. It has never been this bad from the beginning of the world and never will be again. 22 If the time had not been made short, no life would have been saved. Because of God’s people, the time will be made short.
The False Religious Teachers
23 “If anyone says to you, ‘See! Here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not believe it. 24 People who say they are Christ and false preachers will come. They will do special things for people to see. They will do great things, so that if it can be done, God’s people will be fooled to believe something wrong. 25 Listen! I have told you before it comes. 26 If they tell you, ‘See! He is in the desert,’ do not go to see. Or if they say, ‘See! He is in the inside room,’ do not believe them. 27 The Son of Man will come as fast as lightning shines across the sky from east to west. 28 Birds gather wherever there is a dead body.
Jesus Will Come Again in His Shining Greatness
29 “As soon as those days of trouble and pain and sorrow are over, the sun will get dark. The moon will not give light. The stars will fall from the sky. The powers in the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then something special will be seen in the sky telling of the Son of Man. All nations of the earth will have sorrow. They will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of the sky with power and shining-greatness. 31 He will send His angels with the loud sound of a horn. They will gather God’s people together from the four winds. They will come from one end of the heavens to the other.
The Picture-Story of the Fig Tree
32 “Now learn something from the fig tree. When the branch begins to grow and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 In the same way, when you see all these things happen, you know the Son of Man is near, even at the door. 34 For sure, I tell you, the people of this day will not pass away before all these things have happened.
No One Knows When Jesus Will Come Again
35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 36 But no one knows the day or the hour. No! Not even the angels in heaven know. The Son does not know. Only the Father knows.
37 “When the Son of Man comes, it will be the same as when Noah lived. 38 In the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking. They were marrying and being given in marriage. This kept on until the day Noah went into the large boat. 39 They did not know what was happening until the flood came and the water carried them all away. It will be like this when the Son of Man comes.
40 “Two men will be working in a field. One will be taken and the other will be left. 41 Two women will be grinding grain. One will be taken and the other will be left.
42 “Because of this, watch! You do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But understand this: If the owner of a house had known when the robber was coming, he would have watched. He would not have allowed his house to have been broken into. 44 You must be ready also. The Son of Man is coming at a time when you do not think He will come.
Faithful Servants and Servants Who Are Not Faithful
45 “Who is the faithful and wise servant whom his owner has made boss over the other servants? He is to have food ready for them at the right time. 46 That servant is happy who is doing what his owner wants him to do when he comes back. 47 For sure, I tell you, he will make him boss over all that he has. 48 But if that servant is bad, he will think, ‘The owner will not come soon.’ 49 He will beat the others. He will eat and drink with those who are drunk. 50 The owner will come on a day and at an hour when the servant is not looking for him. 51 The owner will punish the servant and will give him his place with those who pretend to be someone they are not. There will be loud crying and grinding of teeth. — Matthew 24 | New Life Version (NLV) New Life Version Bible Copyright © 1969, 2003 by Barbour Publishing, Inc. The Living Temple: A sermon by Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Key Passages in Matthew 24
Jesus foretells the destruction of the temple;
what and how great calamities shall be before it;
the signs of his coming to judgment.
And because that day and hour are unknown,
we ought to watch like good servants, expecting our Master's coming.

“The desert of Soom is said to lie at the world’s uncharitable extreme, between the lands that are little known and those that are scarcely even conjectured. It is dreaded by travellers, for its bare and ever-moving sands are without oases, and a strange horror is rumored to dwell among them. Of this horror, many tales are told, and nearly all of the tales are different. Some say that the thing has neither visible form nor audible voice, and others that it is a dire chimera with multitudinous heads and horns and tails, and a tongue whose sound is like the rolling of bells in deep funeral vaults. Of the caravans and solitary wanderers who have ventured amid the sands of Soom, none has returned without a story to tell; and some have never returned at all, or have come back with brains devoured to madness by the terror and vertigo and delirium of infinite empty space… Yes, there are many tales, of a thing that follows furtively or with the pandemonium of a thousand devils, of a thing that roars or whispers balefully from the sand or from the wind, or stirs unseen in the cooling silence; or falls from the heavens like a crushing incubus, or yawns like a sudden pit before the feet of the traveller…
But once on a time there were two lovers who came to the desert of Soom, and who had occasion to cross the sterile sands. They knew not the evil rumor of the place; and, since they had found an abiding Eden in each other’s eyes, it is doubtful if they even knew that they were passing through a desert. And they alone, of all who have dared this fearsome desolation, have had no tale to relate of any troublous thing, of any horror that followed or lurked before them, either seen or unseen, inaudible or heard; and for them there was no chimera, no yawning pit nor incubus. And never, never could they apprehend the stories that were told by less fortunate wayfarers.”

okay because i submitted my last assignment. and i no longer feel the pressure to do it for school but instead can ramble on in my own way about it
#daniel is so so interesting especially ch12 with mark 13(?) as context it's soooooo compelling to me for REAL#the idea that the desolating abomination would already be familiar to jesus' audience is so so cool but ALSO#taking into account the timeframe given to daniel and the way jesus says if God hadn't given and end to it no one would be able to hold up#under the weight of the despair and destruction etc etc etc BUT because of his love he has shortened the time#like???!?!?!??! crazy to ME God's love and how it manifests#so interesting and intriguing#and also now i want a similar study of revelation since they're both apocalyptic literature#also the way apocalyptic literature and prophecy are sooo similar but also how they're different#like if you consider isaiah for instance and then consider daniel#in terms of the coding of the text and how understandable it is to a lay person#and also how it would interpret in like. long-term versus present when they were given the prophecies#and i really really REALLY want to know more about the original language of daniel 12#because the translations i used for this assignment used different words to describe michael#like?? the great prince versus the great leader and guard versus has charge of#and like the depth given to the timeline when one translation says the sons of your people instead of your people#like it's insane the differences between translations#also how God isn't specifically addressed really in Daniel 12 BUT the revelations you have regarding his character is so interesting#also also ALSO. back to mark 13 and the end of daniel 12 BUT. the blessed is the one who is patient#and the encouragement to hold on#crazy to me that you can find hope in the wildest darks#timothy's txts.

Controversial Prophesy Alert
Dale Pollard Daniel 8  Daniel prophesied of the Persian and Greek eras of Israelite history. The angel interpreted that for us, so there’s no mystery there. That mean man of the Diadochi, Antiochus Epiphanes, is described with his persecution lasting 2300 days. It was concluded by the Rededication of the Temple by Judas Maccabee, and that day became the Jewish Festival of Lights (John…

The End Times (Revelation 1:1-3)
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. 4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on the brink of the river on this side, and the other on the brink of the river on that side. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth fear ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall purify themselves; and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand: but they that be wise shall understand. 11 And from the time that the continual burnt offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days. — Daniel 12 | English Revised Version (ERVB) The English Revised Version of the Holy Bible is in the public domain. AND THEN
#OF COURSE AS IF I COULD FORGET. the different translations and the times of trouble. of course#and esv saying there shall be a time of trouble and nasb saying there will be a time of distress#BUT THEN. ceb saying it will be a time of distress#and this is where i become paranoid about my professor being on destiel gay sex tumblr and seeing this BUT WHO CARE !!#anyways the interesting difference in presentation in terms of establishing the times as difficult#like esv and nasb make it seem like it will come about but ceb makes it sound already established in a sense#ALSO ALSO ALSO something i didn't explore as it wasn't quite as relevant BUT the book mentioned in daniel 12:1#and how i KNOW it's referencing a specific book (the book of life i think) but how it says everyone who is Found written in the book#(or scroll depending on translation)#and to ME the ''found'' is so so interesting#like. everyone who is found written in the book#where else is this book mentioned!!! i don't care about the desolation of the abomination anymore i want to study the various biblical#passages that mention and explore this book#and NO it's tooootally not because i love the paradox of choice versus the omniscience and omnipotence of God ...... totally....#if he already knows who will be saved and shit and set everything into motion then HOW can it be a choice???#and of course the difference of size in infinities#if there is the perfect amount of space for the people who choose to believe then if one more person believed there wouldn't be enough#space except for of course the fact that god would know and there would be space#if you have a motel with infinite rooms but you also have infinite peoplethen all the rooms will be full EXCEPT#they can't all be full because they're infinite except of course you have infinite people so they are all full#but that doesn't matter anyway because the motel doesn't have a pool so we weren't going to stay there anyways#we'll go to the inn and suites across the road#timothy's txts.#WHO KNOWS WHAT I'M SAYING. NOT ME. i just say shit for funsies#tw caps#tw swearing
