Open up a dictionary, I am pleading with you.

Why is right-wing populism outmatching left-wing populism across the Globe?

It’s so much easier to make people feel afraid than it is to make them feel hopeful or safe or supported. Right wing populism preys on people’s fears and stokes pre-existing anxieties, while also providing an individual “strongman” that people can look to for resolution. Simple and effective.

If we look at left-wing policies or general ideological talking points, they require both:

an inherent empathy/sympathy for strangers and community alike

a strong persistence to work against pre-existing institutions/structures to achieve that which isn’t often simple

It requires more effort, more funding, and occasionally can’t be simplified into layman’s terms, which ostracizes those who can’t reach higher education. This, above all else, is what makes right-wing populist rhetoric so effective - it’s approachable. It doesn’t ask you to care for others (quite the opposite) outside of your own interests. It’s comforting to have a powerful leader who “isn’t afraid to speak the truth” or “tell it like it is”, when the preceding leaders have all spoken outside your comprehension and made you feel isolated from your country in their education, class, and/or status.

Really, right-wing populism is in vogue because it’s so much easier to understand and so much easier to exercise. It doesn’t ask for much - it certainly doesn’t ask for us to follow rules or facts. It’s chameleon, and its rhetoric shapes to what would reach the most people regardless of how plausible, reasonable, or respectable it is.

Yeah when you mess with women’s rights or as him and his MAGAs like to argue, “sending them back to the states”, they WILL fight back.

Not to mention with his recent bullshit of his administration going to be “great” for women, it’s like he’s ASKING to get buried in the race:

Before I get on that point, I just wanna point out this sounds like a thinly veiled threat of “shut up and deal with us or else”. Because we ALL know Trump has NO respect for women.

But as for this whole “states deciding bullshit”; this has had NO positive ramifications. I’m sure we’re all familiar with the names Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller. If not look them up along with the names Amanda Zuraski (my tumblr app isn’t letting me post links 😤) but yeah SO MANY women have died as a result of Roe v Wade being overturned and UNLESS things change, MORE women will die UNNECESSARILY when NO ONE but these FAKE Christians cared because over 63 % of Americans understand that abortion IS healthcare.

And also, putting my previous point aside, the reason why women are so angry aside from the unnecessary deaths is also because OLD MEN like Trump really have no place dictating what women can or can’t do with their bodies. Like, I want the men in my audience to imagine, let’s say Kamala Harris gets in office and orders men to have a vasectomy. Men would RIGHTFULLY get irate since a woman has no place telling a man what he can or can’t be doing with his body and it’s the same thing; these old men and congress can NOT give birth so who are they to tell us what we can do with our bodies??

ESPECIALLY creepy old men like Trump who have a HISTORY of sexual assault. Need I bring up his “grab em by the pussy!” Video?

These old washed up fossils like Trump HATE how modernized America is becoming and they want to go back to some conservative 1960s Ronald Reagan shit with women being stay at home moms along with trying to FORCE people to be Christians (see the 10 commandments and bible nonsense) like NO.

I’ve also seen people doing early voting which is great because as evidenced by Springfield Ohio along with Republicans bitching about getting “the save act or shut down the government” (Biden won’t allow any of the two to happen 🙄), them trying to have states hand count ballots like GA and then trying that “Winner Take All” Nonsense in Nebraska, EXPECT some fuckery from MAGA.

Okay I want to put all of my current predictions out here (these are subject to change, of course):

• I think this show is going to get a little more colorful or a little bit more gay with each show because I think she’s running out the clock.

• I am CLOWNING for an eventual pronoun change during surprise songs.

• I think Karlie will probably show up again. And if she shows up for the rep announcement I will die dead.

• I’m also clowning for a rainbow variation of every outfit or perhaps a debutation variation if she plans to drop them together. Maybe a karma outfit. Idk. I don’t really know what is coming next in regard to music or if there will be anything (what if she just went black out for a year and then dropped rep next December 😂).

• I’m split because I think she’s either going to continue this Travis stunt until the Super Bowl or she’ll break up with him while on tour (if it’s real that’s totally fine but the way this relationship has been crammed down our throats gives me the ick so bad). I have no idea how that breakup will go down especially since they’ve made an entire Christmas movie about this relationship.

• I’m still assuming we’ll get a proposal / breakup.

Overall, I don’t think Taylor Swift would pander to this side of the fandom the way she has if she didn’t have a plan to blow everything up. I assume she’s a good person. I assume she’s supportive of the fans who see her. I’ve been in this fandom long enough to know what it looks like when she’s in the closet and when she isn’t. The closet isn’t even glass anymore. The closet is just invisible at this point so if she’s just a straight girl who loves rainbows, she’s absolutely diabolical in the very worst ways.

And before anyone comes for me, yes she can be bi or pan or whatever she wants to be. I don’t care about muses or labels. I notice patterns and I can’t help but connect the dots. I see bi and lesbian dresses and her calling attention to them so that’s where my focus is. I care about freedom for her (whatever that looks like) and I also think some clarity about who she actually is will help a lot of us decide if we want to keep supporting her and giving her our money. I’m placing my bet on her being who I think she is so I’m here to support her until the end of this roller coaster ride.

I will make a post on the final day of this tour but I just want to say this: I have had the TIME OF MY LIFE in this labyrinth. I have made lifelong friends because of this side of the fandom. Thank you to ALL of my friends on here who have followed me and commented on my posts and said such kind things. Thank you to everyone who has messaged me their insights and theories. *Spoilers!* (Warning- I’m about to get a little hot, guys)

The issue starts with a monologue by Sophie (and a very obvious and subtle commentary on Poland and PiS!) about humans falling into Empath’s trap.

The team talks about the recent developments on the rooftop- Laura blames Sophie and Kamala defends her (Laura’s shmopsy got manipulated Kamala! She’s pissed! 🥺) 

Dante is kind of A LOT while comforting David, who is trying to figure out their plans… (sorry guys… “the Colossus joke” was awkward and gave me the ick! lol)

It APPEARS like Empath and the Purifiers are working together and possibly brainwashing the rest of the team (I don’t believe for a second Hellion could help out the people who bombed his friends!��but OKAY…)

While watching Marvels off-brand “TikTok”, we see protesters at David’s apartment suddenly freeze…

Sophie shows up to apologize (she should have to take everyone to “Olive Garden”, just to double down on that apology lol) and Kamala gets her girlfriend back in an obviously lovestruck scene (soorrryy Bruno and Miles- you’ve been REPLACED! 😂🤣)

Kamala invites Sophie up to the roof and we switch over to Empath telling us his “EVIL PLAN” (trademark, patent pending!)- basically it goes like this- Julian creates fear and chaos among the humans they CAN’T turn… Empath funds the Purifiers, so active violence against mutants is being broadcasted…and in creating a situation of violence and despair, mutants form together to create a “New Krakoa”…

After hearing about the “EVIL PLAN” plan from Sophie…Kamala and Co decide… to organize?? (…Kay)

Kamala’s COUSIN is (of COURSE) there with her brother Aamir at the Purifiers protest…and they of course inevitably clash when the pro-mutant protest, led by Kamala, when they arrive…

While the protesters are ramping up, Sophie gets contacted by the other Cuckoos and goes “no contact” and frees the congressman from the Cuckoos control. (I really wish life WAS this easy LOL)

Sophie’s psychic powers stop working after she rejects “the Hive” (Oh- are we going to get a story on how the Cuckoos powers aren’t working because one broke off and explore the issues with their minds being connected and the problems with their symbiosis???!! I am actually excited about that!) 

Kamala talks to the crowd and… convinces them to lay down their arms… and hug and sing “kumbaya”… (…Kay…)

Until a Purifier decides to try and shoot a protester…which Laura handily takes care of… and EVERYTHING is HAPPY…and the WORLD is GREAT (minus the gunshot 😒)

Review:

I kind of don’t care for the plot point of the oppressed “manufacturing” violence on their own to basically “force” essentially a movement- this leaves a bad taste in my mouth, considering current political realities (Palestine, the US election, ect…) 

Truthfully- this WHOLE issue feels tone deaf, in a world where it was just announced Trump is propping Musk up as “Department of Government Efficiency” and possibly cutting things like the FDA…

I get the writers had NO WAY of knowing how the election would GO- but I would argue THIS is the exact problem with X-Editorial’s argument that mutants need to “be traditional heroes” again…

I would also complain that I don’t see the Cuckoos and Hellion going along with this plan- where I could TOTALLY see Julian killing bigots- I DON’T think Julian would EVER be down with innocent mutants being killed. 

I do get the point the writers are making, and don’t even think it’s a BAD POINT- if you want REAL change, people need to organize, support the community, support and volunteer for organizations that protect people’s rights… we need to care about local issues… but I don’t know if this is a great story RIGHT NOW… and I don’t know if the “baddies” being an oppressed group…is GREAT…😬

X-Men HAVE always had mutant enemies- but Magneto’s violence… and even kind of Mystique’s… was always represented as reactionary to human violence.

Shaw was always more grey and represented as not caring about killing mutants… but he was also representative of Capitalism and the power of wealth… which is WHY his character WORKED…

Hellion and the Cuckoos…Kamala’s cousin…Aamir suddenly being down for hating mutants…

It DOES kind of send the message that the problem is THE OPPRESSED…or that there’s a “right” and “wrong” way for people to deal with OPPRESSION… and not thinking at ALL about the OPPRESSORS or the systems in place😬…and I DON’T really LOVE THAT…

The problem with this kind of story is Marvel wants to “have its cake and eat it too”, so to speak- it wants to represent a “mutant human alliance”… but also make humans unrepentant villains committing mass war crimes… it’s elevated human violence against mutants to an absurdly HORRIBLE level, to the point that it makes zero sense for Mutants to have “anti-violent tactics” at ALL… it’s transformed ALL the secondary “human” characters into mutants or simply doesn’t have them featured in stories AT ALL anymore (where’s Stevie? Where’s Dr. Peter Corbeau??)… it’s time and again shown other non-mutant hero’s don’t advocate or care about the crimes being committed AGAINST mutants… it doesn’t bother to really showcase pro-mutant organizations pushing back or being created at all IN THE BOOKS…

It wants to walk BACK Krakoa and Utopia… but that’s the ONLY plot point that makes sense anymore, when you’re writing kids getting mass murdered and genocided every week…Writers have escalated the violence they feature… to the point where the school setting and O5 antics at the “soda pop shop” DOESN’T make sense ANYMORE. 

I also think this book is having trouble being a TEAM BOOK- five issues in… and it’s STILL mainly about Kamala…

Laura…Anole… have ZERO purpose in this book…and in my personal opinion… it’s making it HIGHLY LIKELY this book is going to be on the chopping block…

It just DOESN’T feel LIKE A TEAM BOOK- and I really feel like the writers are screwing themselves.

We saw what happened with Strain’s “Generation X” vol. 2- its sales IMMEDIATELY dropped because it was a “stealth QQ” book…

Honestly- this is my biggest criticism with A LOT of X-books over the years; so many of them feel like “stealth solos”, when readers genuinely just WANT A TEAM BOOK. That’s WHY people READ X-Men.

Much like Issue #3- it felt like filler. When so far two out of five issues feel subpar on a new series (with C-List characters)… that’s NOT GREAT… especially on a line of books where even reasonably POPULAR books get the axe.

I really WANT to love this series… and I do think the writers have interesting ideas… but I think they need to clean up this book a bit…

Make it more of a TEAM BOOK… go back to WHAT FANS WANT with X-books- soap opera, more nuanced storytelling, character focused dialogue…

Honestly- you have a LOT of readers picking this UP because they want a NXM book… you have a lot of people reading for Hellion and x-23 drama… you have a lot of people reading because they’re tired of Anole and Prodigy being wallpaper or JUST used to check the box of “empty LGBTQIA+ representation” and not real characters… 

Maybe do that instead.

Theories: 

I’m kind of pissed we didn’t get Laura acknowledging Hellion AT ALL- I doubt that’s even happening truthfully. The love triangle is TOTALLY going to be Synch/Laura/Local, in my opinion- just to spite fans at this point. 

From the spoilers- Kamala’s cousin becomes obviously a Purifier (I bet he will try to shoot Hellion in the hospital)…

Synch and Kiden shows up- I wish it was JUST Kiden TBH…

Hopefully we GET a “Cuckoo identity crisis” of sorts lol… 

Dante will continue to have zero character development and just make awkward comments about mutant power sets…

But yeah… WAY less excited about this book after seeing the end of this arc 😬

I could forgive a lot of the flaws, if the ending of this arc HADN’T been THIS LACKLUSTER…

I just don’t know what the X-line is doing anymore honestly

November Save MEGA summary (part 2)

hope you all enjoyed the previous summary, it was a nice walk down memory lane for me 😁❤ anyways let's just jump into the next one

so basically overall steve was really HATING working at Hogan's but June was just doing really well in general (enough to be the main earner in the household essentially so steve was able to quit his job)

june attempted to wingwoman raj again because things didnt really work out with kamala... LMAO

on friday she took a day off and decided to go for a job interview to join an in-house legal team

and very quickly she learned shed got the job 😁🤸‍♀️💖

on monday she let her manager Margot know she was resigning and officially handed in her resignation to the boss, boss, Jared. they were all super happy for her, and june was grateful to have had a good time working with them all

THEN, after that she visited her mom for awhile (who lives in Brindleton Bay, and caught up with her without steve or the kids)

that same weekend it was adelaide's birthday and they threw her a modest party (they are always paycheck to paycheck kinda ngl but june's recent job change / promotion means that things are getting better

bonus shot of the kids being EXTRA cute (they get on really well) 💖

very VERY soon after that, june attended a conference in Tartosa with her new team, which was a great chance to get to know everyone...

UNFORTUNATELY things got a bit flirty at the dinner 🌹😢 and the brunette guy behind june flirted with June and she did it back 😵 and yeah... nothing else happened but YIKES. my interpretation of june is honestly that she got a taste of what her life could have been like, without steve... the kids... bills etc, and she got a bit carried away by the glitz and glam of it all 🤷‍♀️ (sorry I do like my sims to have flaws, & like everyone else june is not perfect </3), but yeah as I said nothing else happened and june immedietaly felt AWFUL about it as she should (shes a loyal trait sim) 😘 but she did look stunning that night

when she got home it was extra bad as well because she had to face steve (and the kids) and it made he realise how lucky she had it, cuz steve also got her some champagne to celebrate her new job ☠😂

so... june confessed and told steve about what happened, and ngl even I was suprised he took it so well and was understanding + I think he appreciated she told him right away

also right after he mentioned marriage??? I think the two of them needed to talk about it cuz june always saw herself getting married I think and steve hadnt really considered it...

BUT YEAH drama / crisis averted AHAHAH sorry this seems really fast but I promise it had been brewing for some time - I think out of the two of them, unfortunately june is just a little bit more insecure than steve, because she has set so many expectations on herself & her mother growing up was very strict with her </3 overall I know she invisioned her life going differently, but when faced with that actual opportunity she didnt take it 😘❤🤸‍♀️

So I don't really care for Trump and don't really care for Kamala. But the absolute hate ive seen since the election is absolutely sickening. The threats of death, the racial slurs thrown at our minorties in this country that voted for Trump. Even some homophobia has been thrown out there towards the "gays for Trump". The things ive seen in so many peoples tags saying they wish the women who voted for Trump actually get raped. Honestly! I dont give a fuck who anyone voted for but the people getting all their info from TikTok is ridiculous. This shit needs to stop. I absolutely DO NOT agree that women have to go states away for an abortion. I DO NOT agree that Roe v Wade was overturned or whatever. Yall were given the right and it should have stayed. But do a deep dive, you'll see the slurs, the death threats, the vile shit being said towards women and it should disgust you as it did me. Be pissed yes, be absolutely fucking angry. Just dont be so evil that you wish anything as dark as any of that on someone because they are different or think differently. We are supposed to be better than that.

I re read this, I never once said I hoped anything bad happened to them. Or anything like that.

What I said was, when it happens, and it will since women's rights are now gone(coming D Day), they will have absolutely no one to blame but themselves.    “Oh, boy,” Kamala muttered under her breath, nervousness buzzing within her as she gaped at the vehicle before her.

   “Yep,” Nakia nodded resolutely, looking over at her with a fond smile.

   Kamala let out a deep breath.

   Nakia had told her that she wanted her to come and do something with her, but she had not specified what precisely she had wanted Kamala for. Kamala had been completely up for anything with her best friend, of course, but now that she saw that it was to get in some driving practice with Nakia, she was definitely not ready.

   Fortunately, this was not the first time that Kamala had driven this car. After all, Kamran had let her drive it.

   However, now that Nakia had somehow laid claim to it, the stakes were higher. She did not want to disappoint Nakia, and plus, she had never driven with Nakia in the car, so it made it more nerve-wracking in some ways. She wanted to make Nakia proud.

   “You don’t seriously think I can drive this safely, do you? Because, I mean… In that case, my dude, do I have a surprise for you,” Kamala chuckled nervously, and Nakia shook her head, grinning as she tilted her head in the direction of the vehicle.

   “You’ve got this. Hop in,” Nakia told her, and Kamala hesitantly moved to open the door and get into the driver’s seat. Nakia headed over to the passenger seat, sitting down.

    As soon as they were both in, Kamala looked at her anxiously, wincing a little despite the fact that she had not even started driving yet.

   “You know that almost every time I’ve driven, I go in reverse first, right?” Kamala checked with her, and Nakia huffed.

   “Look, you’re fine, okay? Just let me help you. Crank her up,” Nakia directed, and Kamala started to buckle up, looking at Nakia curiously.

   “Her?” Kamala could not help but question, and Nakia shrugged.

   “Oh, yeah. Her name is Lola,” Nakia pointed out, nodding as she grinned from ear to ear. Kamala could not help a smile herself, enjoying the name that Nakia had come up with this time.

   “That’s lit,” Kamala replied, starting the vehicle as it rumbled to life. Nakia smiled at the sound of it.

   “Listen to her purr,” Nakia patted the dash, and Kamala allowed her smile to grow despite her trepidation, moving her head in agreeance as she somewhat overexaggerated the movement to try to get a laugh out of her best friend.

   “Oh, yeah,” Kamala trailed off, listening to the sound of the car. Nakia nodded resolutely.

   “Now put her in drive,” Nakia told her, and Kamala stopped just before putting her hand on the gear change.

   “Okay… Umm… This is the part where I usually go flying backwards into another car,” Kamala acknowledged, and Nakia just looked at her fondly, reaching out her hand to lay it over Kamala’s as she guided it down to the gear shifter.

   “We’ve got this. Just push your brake,” Nakia cued, and Kamala complied. However, her nervousness about messing up caused her to slam the gas while it was in park, the engine revving.

   Kamala let off of it quickly, casting Nakia an apologetic look as she gritted her teeth a little.

   “Sorry…”

   “No, don’t worry about it,” Nakia remained patient despite the fact that there was a slight hint of nervousness in her gaze as she glanced at the floorboard. Kamala moved her foot to the brake instead, and Nakia kept her hand on Kamala’s as she guided it.

   “Alright, now, push in the button and move the whole thing back while holding it down,” Nakia pushed the thing back with Kamala’s hand, and Kamala sucked in a breath, readying herself in case by some evil trick the car would still go in reverse despite her best efforts to the contrary.

   Nakia guided her into drive, and Kamala let out the breath that she had not realized she had been holding.

   “Now, just hit the gas carefully and go.”

   “Okay,” Kamala breathed, complying as she moved the car forward. She headed out as she drove down the road.

   They went along carefully for a little while, Kamala growing more comfortable as Nakia offered positive reassurances as they went. Kamala soon started to relax a little, and the driving was not so much of a stressful event anymore.

   “Y’know, I think you’re ready for some music,” Nakia told her, and Kamala gaped at her with wide eyes, glancing quickly between the road and Nakia as she was pulled out of her focus.

   “Wait, you think I’m ready for that?” Kamala almost squeaked and Nakia nodded.

   “Yeah!”

   “I don’t know… I’m not sure I should be listening to anything while driving. They say it makes you have a tendency to drive faster,” Kamala tried to reason despite the undeniable urge to take Nakia up on her offer.

   “Would Sia change your mind?” Nakia asked, waving her phone with the playlist pulled up on it.

   As soon as Nakia said that, all of Kamala’s reasoning was out the window.

   “Squishy… Why didn’t you lead with that?” Kamala asked, and Nakia playfully narrowed her eyes as she tapped a few buttons on her phone, connecting her playlist with the car as it synced up.

   Sia’s “Unstoppable” came on, and they were cruising along, listening to it as they sang along.

   However, Kamala did soon find herself driving a little faster than she should. And as they sang and enjoyed the music and the drive, she quickly realized that the music was perhaps not the best idea.

   As she made a turn around a curve, she suddenly realized that there was someone jaywalking out in the road. Kamala audibly gasped, and Nakia’s eyes went wide as Kamala slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to an abrupt stop.

   The person gaped at them in shock as he hurried across the road, shooting them a rather crude hand signal.

   Instantly, Nakia’s eyes narrowed, and Kamala looked at her apologetically.

   “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to do that. He was just there, and…”

   Kamala trailed off as she realized that Nakia had stopped the music and was rolling down her window. As soon as it was down, Nakia leaned out of it, pointing at him.

   “Get out of the road! What is wrong with you?!!! You have the audacity to flip us off when you were the one that was jaywalking!!!” Nakia yelled. The man tried to yell something back at her from where he was standing on the sidewalk.

   Kamala had started slowly moving the car forward to leave, hoping that Nakia’s anger would quell a little as they put some distance between them and the guy.

   “No, no, you have some kind of a death wish or something?! Jumping out into the middle of the road is asking for it when you’ve got a crazyperson behind the wheel!!!” Nakia cried, yelling as she moved her hand animatedly out the window to go with her screeching.

   Kamala quickly turned her head to look at her.

   “Did you just call me a crazyperson?!” Kamala almost squeaked, shock filling her, and Nakia shook her head.

   “Look, it’s not a bad thing. When people learn your car in the city and start knowing it as the nutjob’s car, it teaches them to steer clear like they should anyway,” Nakia assured her, moving her hand dismissively as she reassured her.

   Kamala raised her eyebrows, honestly shocked at the fact that Nakia had such road rage. However, it was not entirely surprising if she thought it through because Nakia could be a little fiery at times.

   Kamala drove off carefully, leaving the man behind them, and Nakia rolled up the window, seeming more at peace at that point.

   There was dead silence for a little while.

   Finally, Kamala looked over at Nakia carefully once more. Nakia looked back at her, realizing she was watching her.

   “What?” Nakia questioned.

   “I think I should start calling you spiky,” Kamala mumbled, staring straight ahead at the road as she made her comment about changing Nakia’s nickname.

   There were a few beats of quiet before Nakia groaned heavily. Kamala instantly huffed, a grin coming onto her face.

   “Ugh…”

Oh Han 😂 also, I changed the kiss to a hug in ESB, because...imo it gets the same sentiment across without being weird af. Plus, this way, it's easier to believe that Leia's just doing this to make Han jealous—she doesn't actually have feelings for Luke.

Yay! Okay, so I was reading the Spider-Punk comics recently, and I found out that in the comics, Hobie knows both Kamala Khan and Riri Williams, and they’re his band mates. And I know you most likely won’t incorporate into the story (nor do you have to of course), but I just find the idea of Hobie meeting Kamala and Riri (from 727) and being baffled about how different they are to his home’s versions of them (more likely Kamala, cause she’s just a sweet bundle of sunshine).

It’ll also be interesting to see the characters from Earth 727 react to the fact that the designation of “Earth 616” is wrong, and is actually Earth-199999.

I also bet their gonna question Miguel and the Society about where they were when all these other Multiversal threats appeared (and were thankfully defeated), like Wanda and Infinity Ultron (but mostly Infinity Ultron).

I feel like Miguel is also going to object to them trying to change their “canon” events. But then, why would the Watcher bring all of them there, y’know? Unless it was to show the other spiders (and Miguel especially) that the whole “canon” defense is a bunch of crap, and was just his way of dealing with his grief (they’re gonna have a field day with his backstory I tell ya). Not to mention to bring them all together to show them how big of a threat Kang and his variants are, and to help each other stop these smaller threats in their way, like Thanos, Arthur Harrow, Gorr, fucking Tiamet emerging from the planets core and destroying Earth (the society is gonna lose their minds learning about the realms outside the Spiderverse and all of this wild stuff).

I also talked previously about the theory that glitching is caused by technology rather than just being in a different dimension, while using magic, a thing that’s been around since the beginning and is more natural (rather than tech which is “created” in a sense) prevents glitching. And since it’s gonna be a bit until we get Beyond the Spiderverse and that whole explanation, it could be a good explanation in regards to why the MCU characters don’t glitch when they went to other universes (Strange and America in MoM, Multiverse Guardians when fighting Infinity Ultron, No Way Home). Another idea I had was that maybe what’s causing the deterioration of the Spiderverse is the tech itself, because it’s not natural. And by jumping from universe to universe using the watches and the colliders, it’s breaking the integrity of the spaces between dimensions that prevent incursions from happening (if that makes sense).

This is already getting to be a bit long, so I’ll just end it with this (but expect more from me in the future lol): Sam and Bucky are going to hate meeting even more Peter Parker variants 😂 they already have to deal with one

i've heard about the magic vs tech glitching theory before and i think it makes sense. however, loki s2 trailer has loki time slipping which looks suspiciously similar to glitching. it probably doesn't have any connection to each other though but it's fun to theorize

Thoughts on the state of our nation?

i have thoughts and they're not good or happy ones.

under the cut i copied a long text i send to one of my friends from law school earlier this morning. but it's not about the state of our country as much as how I personally am feeling about our country. i worked in politics for one summer and would consider myself very well-informed, but i'm not a political analyst, so know on the outset i am just an american citizen, not a pundit and not an analyst

i sent this text today while in line for coffee:

Yesterday and today I keep waking up multiple times throughout the night and every time I genuinely do have a second before I remember the election. And then I remember it and I feel the crushing weight of what has happened and the fear of what is going to happen. There is a genuine second though where I don't remember it. And then it's like having to learn it all over again. It's so horrifying. It's so much worse for me than 2016 -- and at that time I didn't think anything could be worse. I feel like I'm floundering and I don't know what to do. But all those placations of just keep waking up and keep going and keep fighting are meaningless -- I don't know how I can keep going.

I don't mean those as vague suicide ideations😭 but I do mean them seriously. I just feel like there was NOTHING she could've done. I'm seeing a lot of rhetoric about how she didn't reach out to working class voters or how the Democratic Party abandoned them, and that's so not true. It's not! I listened to all of her speeches, I listened to her schedule every day and saw all the people she was reaching out towards and meeting and she was doing absolutely all of those things. She was giving clarifying policy. She had reasons for changing her stances that made sense and were articulated. When people say she should've had more developed policy etc, they're wrong. None of the things I've seen people say make any sense to me, except that those who didn't vote for her only did so based on racism, misogyny, and misinformation. It might've been subconscious, but it was bigotry nonetheless.

I think why I'm struggling so much too is that because I don't think she did anything WRONG. and I don't see the way forward for the party. I don't see WHAT they can do differently, which is what makes it so scary and makes me feel so untethered. All of those articles about "where to now" and "how we lost" and "how we should approach 28" just feel completely made up to me rn -- like they're just people who have no idea why something happened trying to make justification for it without evidence or proof of that. Like when a girl gets cheated on and then is trying to justify what she did wrong instead of recognizing that it's just him. He's the one who's an asshole. It's just HIM.

OK, sorry for my long rambling. I could be totally wrong, and I am not a political analyst, but this is what I'm feeling right now, and it is completely unmoored and depressed. Thank you for listening! Feel free to ignore 😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭

after the sanders' letter came out, i disagreed with it. bernie underperformed kamala in vermont. it's not about progressivism or policy. Biden was the most pro-labor president since fdr. He flooded the working class with funding. Yeah voters were not aware or informed of these policies bc messaging consistently gets stuck. But, more importantly, they only get misinformation and… idk? Don’t care enough to learn more? Because when you look at ALL the blind policy polling – ALL OF IT – kamala’s platform always got majority majority support by HUGE margins in every blind poll.

and in the end where i can't stop struggling is -- look, separate from the policy or political consequences or legal or constitutional issues or anything about that... listen to him speak. what he says. the way he talks about people. the way he talks to people. that is where is can't handle anything and feel like an udderless ship drifting into oblivion without a way forward: because people can listen to that and... want it. they want it.

she was a great candidate. she did every single thing correctly. it was misinformation and bigotry

listen.... hating as an enrichment activity is an important part of fandom, especially in sports. if you enjoy hatereading content and have a high tolerance for stuff you dislike, the more power to you

if you ever feel the urge to learn to block / filter content, this is how you do it:

1. From the app, go on your main blog, right upper corner gear icon. click on account -> account settings

2. Scroll down to “content you see”

3. The “Filtered tag” section will filter out posts that are tagged with the specific tag you choose to block. This works both for posts where the OP uses the tags, and posts where someone puts it on your dash with those tags. So you're not reliant on the people on your dash using the tag as long as the OP does it, and viceversa

4) Scrolling down, you'll see the “Filtered post content” section. Nuclear option. That one blocks every post that includes the word you choose to block. You can filter whole urls and any post from that OP / any post reblogged from them will be posted. You can filter any random word you want, so there can be weird side effects — for example, if I don't want to see any us election stuff and can't count on people to tag it, I can filter out the word “kamala”. That helps me catch almost any uspol posts AND it's more reliable than filtering the word “trump”, which will catch also posts that randomly use trump as a verb or use sayings like “trump card”.

In both cases, you'll get the filtered post blurred on your dash and have to decide whether to click on it and read on.

   When Carol walked into the gym at the compound for a workout, everything had been going relatively normally that day. Everything had seemed relatively in place at the gym as well.

   That is, unless she counted the teenager that was hanging from the ceiling at the moment tied up in battle ropes.

   Carol looked at her blankly for a solid moment, not sure what to even think about this.

   Kamala was currently wound up in the battle ropes, squinting at her from where she was stuck upside down. She was suspended above the ground and her arms as well as her bangle were tied up in the ropes with how they had weaved her in.

   “It looks like you’re in trouble there… Can I help?” Carol questioned, turning to the side as she moved her head so that it was almost upside down. She met Kamala’s eyes, and the younger girl grinned awkwardly, laughing nervously.

   “Umm… See, there’s a perfectly logical explanation for this,” Kamala tried to explain without telling the fuller story.

   “Wanna fill me on it?” Carol asked curiously, and Kamala shook her head quickly.

   “Oh, no, no, trust me, it’s a long story. I’d just bore you with the details,” Kamala attempted to dismiss, and Carol smirked a bit, turning her head back upright so that she could nod in reply.

   “Nah, I like long stories. Especially when they have outcomes like this,” Carol admitted, getting thorough enjoyment out of it.

   “Yeah, ummm… Maybe help me down first?” Kamala questioned, grinning as she attempted to focus her eyes more fully on Carol. Carol huffed, raising an eyebrow.

   “Sure your story wouldn’t be funnier upside down?” Carol offered, wanting to mess with the kid just a little more. Kamala shook her head, looking a little dizzy and lightheaded by now.

   “I’m pretty sure it’d be the same rightside up,” Kamala assured her, and Carol chuckled heartily, enjoying the kid’s antics as she effortlessly levitating upward and untying the battle ropes from the support beam above. She kept a firm hold on them, slowly lowering the kid down so that she softly slid onto the floor.

   She then dropped down to the floor, helping Kamala untangle herself from the ropes. Once she was free, she offered Carol a sheepish, somewhat starstruck grin.

   “Thanks,” she expressed, and Carol smirked as she crossed her arms, looking down at Kamala where she was sitting on the floor still.

   “Okay, kid, spill the beans,” Carol told her, and Kamala instantly lost a bit of her smile, embarrassment evident in her gaze as she took in a deep breath and let out a long sigh.

   After the sigh had gone on for just a bit too long, Carol tilted her head.

   “Y’know, that sigh isn’t going to save you. Might as well bite the bullet,” Carol cued, nodding to her, and Kamala let her sigh taper off.

   “Well… I came in here to do a little workout and get my Avenger thing on,” Kamala started, and Carol patiently waited for the part where Kamala got tangled in the battle ropes.

   “And I decided to come over here to the battle ropes and give them a little wave. I’d always seen people use them, and they just look so cool, and when I saw you use them the other day, I was just like, ‘Wow! Maybe I could do that, too!’” Kamala rambled just a little, and Carol chuckled softly, enjoying Kamala’s retelling.

   Kamala shrugged.

   “Anyways, I came over here and I got in position and everything, and when I tried to lift them up and wave them around, I realized that wasn’t working so well. I didn’t have enough strength to really get them going like they should,” Kamala confessed, shifting her eyes downward for just a moment as she relived the embarrassment that doubtlessly came with that moment.

   “Plus, I think they’re set for like people with super strength or something,” Kamala added on quickly, and Carol nodded slowly, taking in this story as she got a mental picture of Kamala trying to use battle ropes and failing. It was a rather funny image.

   “So then I thought… Maybe I could just cheat a tiny bit,” Kamala held up her fingers to further emphasize.

   “I kind of used my bangle and used the strength to move the ropes. And then I may or may not have moved the ropes too fast and they got caught up in the rafters and when I tried to get them down, I got tangled up,” Kamala trailed off, wincing a little at the end of her story as she finished.

   Carol was dead silent for a long moment before finally laughing. Kamala groaned, covering her face, and Carol shook her head, reaching down as she squeezed the kid’s shoulder.

   “Don’t be too embarrassed, kid. It happens to the best of us,” Carol tried to offer some amount of comfort to her. Kamala let her hands move down her face just enough to show her eyes so she could look at Carol skeptically.

   “So you’ve gotten caught in battle ropes in the middle of trying to cheat at them?” Kamala asked, and Carol shrugged, moving her head in a noncommittal gesture as she straightened.

   “Well… Not really, but I’ve had some pretty crappy, humiliating things happen to me in my lifetime,” Carol assured her, extending her hand to help her up and off of the floor.

   “Really?” Kamala questioned in disbelief as she took her hand.

   “Yeah,” Carol answered breezily, helping her up. Kamala was watching her carefully at this point, all eyes on her, and Carol could not help the warmth in her chest at Kamala’s interest, despite the fact that it was currently centered on Carol’s potential screw-ups.

   Kamala was always obsessed with everything about Carol, and it reminded Carol of Monica when she was a kid. Being with Kamala was almost like having a chance at redoing things over again with Monica. Granted, she cared about Kamala in her own right, but sometimes she saw so much of her niece as a kid within the girl that it physically hurt.

   “What did you do? I can’t imagine you embarrassing yourself ever,” Kamala expressed, and Carol smiled gently at her, patting her shoulder as she guided her out of the gym. She thought for a moment but then one story in particular came to her.

   “Well… Y’know, I do remember a time when I embarrassed myself with ropes. Not battle ropes, but some ropes that were like hanging down and that we were supposed to swing across,” Carol recalled.

   “What happened?” Kamala questioned eagerly, and Carol sighed, remembering the story as she prepared to tell it over again.

   “It was one of the hottest days of the summer…”

   And so Carol launched into her tale, Kamala adorably soaking in every word and every part of it, and Carol marveling at how lucky she was to have an amazing kid like this in her life again.

   Even if the girl did have a tendency to get a little tied up in things sometimes.
