Ever since he was little, he could see you. You grew up alongside one another, ghostly hand wrapped around his. You kept him entertained as he worked, chatting on about whatever met your interest as he did whatever labour his parents gave him. It was not a fun life, but it was enough with you there. He could count that no matter how much he suffered, it would be ok. You’d be there to mend the wounds and ease achy muscles. But as he got older, the more he realised how abnormal your presence was. Sure, he appreciated always having you, but it wasn’t normal. His parents made that clear. He lost count of how many times his father beat him bloody whenever he was caught talking to you, screaming about how you weren’t real. But that couldn’t be true. Not when you cradled his jaw and cleaned the blood from his skin, leaving him totally healed by the next morning. You must’ve been an angel, he thought. Sent from the goddesses just for him. And when he got the mastersword, it was only further proven in his mind that you were meant to stay by his side. You taught him to fight with grace and compassion, how to heal those hurt by monsters and taught him that there was love left in the dead, leathery thing he could call his heart. There were books and myths that told of how you were made just to keep him safe and loved. That you were real. That you were bound to him by your very soul.

It made it harder when you left, your soul ripped from his. He felt the emptiness without you there, without each little whisper. He felt so angry that the word didn’t cut it. He wanted to shake his younger self that thought you were abnormal and wished you’d leave so he wouldn’t get new wounds, tell him to be more grateful for the time that he had with you. He wanted to crack the bones of every person who told him you’d stay, who shipped him off to this fate without warning. He wanted to take Hylia from her throne and leave whatever evil there was to overtake it. He’d smile, knowing whatever fate would meet her, she’d be deserving of it. He would play no hero for her. She did not deserve it. He was never a hero for Hylia’s grace, but for yours and yours alone. He was never mad at you, you were far too good and kind to ever be mistreated. You’d have never left him if you had the choice. Forever and Always, you promised.

And it seemed you made good on your promises. You were here again. Whole and absolutely stunning as the day he lost you. Sure, eight other men in tow, but nothing he couldn’t deal with. No one he couldn’t slaughter. Sure, you lost your memory of him, but nothing he couldn’t remedy. You just needed time. Your soul was made to fit the gap of his own, and surely, you’d understand once you’re together once more. You’d come to terms that those men, not just the heroes, died for good reason. Perhaps he could even get a kiss for such hard work, but he’d never ask anything of his Angel that they��d be uncomfortable with. He was already a sinner, the blood on his blade not any that could be washed off, but he’d never dream of tainting you. His hands that are so violent would find their way around you with the tenderness you taught him to have. His words, so sweet with the kindness you showed him. And he’d treat you with all the love he had in him, no false idol worthy of his worship.

Stella Gets Hurt

(disclaimer, the injury aspect of this is not fully true. the how and nature of the injury is accurate but the diagnosis and treatment stuff is totally not accurate.)

(also, I used to play softball so I might’ve gotten a little carried away with the in game detail.)

stella’s pov

so today is Ohio state at home. it’s the last game before big ten’s start. luke and the boys lost in Boston at the frozen four which was devastating but him and the other freshman have been at every home game since they got back. 

I’m batting 3rd and playing center field like every other game this year. I’m one homerun away from the ncaa single season homerun record by a freshman. I’m at 30 and I just need one more.

it’s the 4th inning, osu had a homerun in the first to get them on the board with the lead. I lead off the inning and on the third pitch, which is in my sweet spot, I swing and crush the ball. 

the ball lands over the fence in center field as I go to round 1st base and I smile. the michigan fans are going wild, and I can make out Luke’s voice in the crowd cheering for me. as my foot makes contact with first base, my right knee gives out.

there’s a pop and I clutch my knee in pain. 

the tears start flowing from the pain, but I’m trying to force myself to stand so that I can make my way around the bases. at this point the whole stadium has gone quiet and I can hear luke say, “stel?” somehow I force myself up but I fall as soon as I try to walk to second.

eventually I make it to 2nd base but I can’t force myself to keep going anymore. it hurts too much. I just end up holding my knee at 2nd while the trainer comes out to see me. he asks, “what happened? where does it hurt?”

I explain, “there was a pop in my right knee as I round first. I tried to keep going because if I didn’t then the run doesn’t count but it hurts so much.”

“ok, just breathe for a second z. I’ll have a better picture of what’s going on once I get you to the training room, how does that sound?”

“I need to touch the bases first. my season is over, touching home is 31 and the record will be mine. I need this. please.” I explain to him. he nods and goes to talk to the umpire. he comes back and says, “you would have to touch all the bases yourself for it to count.”

I nod and he helps me stand. I take a few deep breathes and start slowly walking towards 3rd. I hear luke say, “come on baby. you got it.” I make it half way to 3rd before I have to stop because it hurts too much. two girls from osu ask the umpire, “blue, if we help her touch the bases, will it count?”

“I don’t see why not.” he responds, and so the two girls come over and help me up. we start the journey to home plate and the girl wearing number 3 says, “I’m ashley by the way.”

I give a faint smile, “stella.” the girl wearing number 7 adds, “sarah. that was a great hit. we know it was for the ncaa freshman record.”

 as we round third, ashley then says, “our schools may have a long hatred for each other but you earned this record so we wanna give it to you. especially since your season is probably over.”

I smile, “this means more than I’ll ever be able to tell you both.” I make eye contact with luke and I can tell that he’s worried. I don’t really change my facial expression because I don’t know what to say. sarah says, “it’s the least we can do.”

ashley asks, “that your boyfriend?”

I nod and say, “we’ve been together almost two years. he’s my whole world.”

they both smile and when we get one step away from the plate, we stop. They let go and say, “you deserve to touch home on your own volition.” I nod and thank the both again before stepping out and making contact with the plate. the crowd claps and cheers for me reaching home and emerson and lauren immediately wrap their arms around me so I don’t fall.

as emerson and lauren guide me to the dugout and trainers room, I see bella waving Luke to come down and he does. he meets me at the trainers room. when I get in the trainers room and finally sit down, I start sobbing from the pain. luke comes over and holds me while I cry, “shhh, you’re ok baby. just take breath sweet girl. it’s gonna be ok baby.”

I bury my head in his chest and grip him tight. he holds me tight to him and I cry my pain out. I sob, “it hurts so much.”

“I know stel, I know. just breath. it’ll be ok. we’ll get through this together.” luke says and tightens his hold on me. he softly scratches my scalp to try and relax me. the training staff walks in and the trainer says, “oh sorry, I can come back and give you some time.”

I shake my head, “no, you don’t have to.” I wipe my tears as they come over and I hold luke’s hand tight while they evaluate my knee. after about 10 minutes, the trainer says to me, “I got bad news kiddo.”

“it’s my acl isn’t? I felt the pop, and I know the look on your face.” I ask and he just nods. I feel the tears streaming down my face and I just lean my head on Luke’s arm and let out a breath that I didn’t know I was holding. the trainer says, “we’ll still need an MRI to confirm but everything is looking like an ACL tear. I’m sorry kid. I already scheduled the MRI, it’s tonight at 8:30 at the hospital. we’ll have the results on monday.”

I nod and just try to focus on anything but the pain and a season ending injury. the trainer has me put a brace on and hands me crutches to use for the time being. he gives me space to do what I need to and I say to Luke, “can you help me to the locker room? I need to get my phone to call my mom.”

he nods, “of course stel.” just as we go to leave the training room, bella walks in with my bag, phone, and ethan. she says, “how you doing baby girl? what’s the diagnosis?”

“acl. I have the MRI tonight to confirm but it’s the acl. I’ll be out until next season. and oh my fucking god does it hurt.” I say. bella’s face drops and forms a frown on it. she takes my free hand and gives it a soft squeeze. ethan gives me a fist bump and says, “sorry about your knee dude. but you got the record, and no one can ever take that away from you.”

I smile softly at ethan and do my best to curl into luke. he wraps an arm around me and says, "I’m gonna take her back to the dorms so she can call her mom. and then I’m going with her to the MRI. well catch up later with you guys.”

they both nod and luke helps me down and then back to my dorm. Luke helps me change and then gets me settled in bed. he hands me my phone so I can call my mom. she picks up on the first ring, “stel?”

“momma, it’s bad.” I choke out. she says, “what happened honey? we saw you go down but they cut the feed after that.”

“it’s my acl. and it hurts so much. but I got the record. today was 31.” I say and force a smile. she also smiles, “I’m so proud of you baby. is there a plan for the knee?”

“MRI tonight and then on monday I’ll find out the official word and then the plan. I don’t need you to fly out so stop looking for flights. I’m ok for now, I have luke and Bella.”

“I know but your still my daughter and you need your mom sometimes.” she tries to reason with me. I shake my head, “I just want you to come out for surgery. I wanna have the surgery out here.”

“ok, we can figure that out. Call me again monday when you know more information ok?” she asks. I nod and she says, “I love you honey, get some rest please.”

“I will. bye mom.”

after that, she hangs up and I cuddle into Luke until I have to go for the mri. I ask quietly, “lukey?”

“yea?”

“can I get a kiss please?” I say almost whispering. he smiles and then leans down to kiss me softly. when he pulls away he says, “you never have to ask stel.” he kisses me again, “I love you stella.”

“I love you too.”

he then climbs into bed to cuddle with me. he pulls me close to him and says, “get some rest sweet girl. I’ll wake you when it’s time for your MRI. just get some rest baby.”

he rubs my back and right before I drift off to sleep I hear him whisper, “god I love you Stella. forever my best girl.”

"Frist! We have game stations located everywhere in the school ! Competitors have to find where the station is and finish the game to gain the ribbon as a prove you finished the game !"

" Once you gain the over 3 ribbon you are qualified to enter the second round ! "

" Now everyone !Do you see that big board is locate at the middle of the field? And it's have number label on it ! All you need is one of the teammate punch through a label to get a piece of card that have a image as clue about what and where is the station is ! "

" Remember ! The card you hold must be given the station holder as a ticket to play the game ! If not you'll not able to play ! Once you finish the game they will give you a other piece of card for the next station ! "

" You're given one hour to finish the games and return to the field ! If you don't have enough ribbon or didn't return in time ! You're disqualified ! "

" Oh ! - I almost forgot to mention! Beware of the yellow caps 'Troublemakers' that is in the school ! They will be stalling you in anyway they can once you meet them ! So you gonna avoid or run away form them ! "

They are currently on the staircase hiding form those 'troublemakers' and the other groups .

First, after Fang got the card and go to the station to finish the game . It appears that each station have limited ribbons if the station runs out ribbons they will give you the card immediately that lead to the station that still have ribbons. Which basically make the ribbon is hard to get that they end up have people to fight over the ribbons.

Which makes them a walking target , they have gain 3 ribbons already what only left is return to the field .

Cahaya don't know he should feel lucky or feel bad now . Because earlier when they got targeted they run into Tanah and Daun who's also have gain 3 ribbons . With them Cahaya and Fang runs aways as they become the new target .

Now there're are running out of time because it only have 15 minutes left . And the location they are currently need almost 10 minutes to return the field but it make it more harder because most of the competitors are still in the school looking for target .

"Hey, Cahaya ? I know a shortcut that can get us there very fast but .......you might not like it ."

" Show me - I don't think I can come up with a better plan now."

Also I'm glad you answered this at the same time you tagged me, because reading your responses literally helped me understand what the heck kind of media this didn't exclude.

Rare writer ask game: name three pieces of media that are not novels/short stories or movies/TV that were formative for you, and tag three people.

Like you, I really don't consider this "formative" to my writing but to my sense of "self."

Anyway:

This is maybe a cheat? Because I still read it? But The Importance of Being Earnest. I really hope that a play is separate enough from TV/movies & novels/short stories to count for this because it really does seem adjacent, and like I'm being overly technical about it but ANYWAY. The unit on this play and on Oscar WIlde generally was like - I dunno. It was a lot of things to me.

So for one, The Importance of Being Earnest is absolutely hilarious, and I genuinely enjoyed reading it. For two, even though a lot of WIlde's statements about writing as a craft were made in relation to The Picture of Dorian Gray, our unit on this book also talked about his attitude in regards to literature and morality and art and aestheticism pretty extensively - I think because this specific literature teacher is awesome, but also because he was arrested during a showing of this play? But all of THAT was also formative. (I could also probably put Billy Joel's Only The Good Die Young here for the same reason - I tied the two together in my mind so if this play can't be it, then that can take over. But the play also was formative when I was trying to get myself back into reading stuff because I no longer read the kind of... "genre" stuff that I read as a kid/teen and I was trying to come up with something I'd actually want to read, and came back to Oscar Wilde like "hey you made me happy before... what's your other writing like?" I was not ... really. expecting. The Picture of Dorian Gray to be Like That the first time - what a tone shift! But that ALSO was formative much later and this is why that showed up for me when it did so.

Next I guess I'll just say "Green Day" - like all of Green Day. At least their discography up through 2009. Like - I already agreed with them, so I guess they didn't really change my mind or influence me much in that sense. But the Green Day obsession was certainly a personality trait for a while. And like - I still jam with King for A Day or Holiday or St. Jimmy or whatever. The characters on American Idiot absolutely made it into some of my fanfiction at the time. It was a major piece of my life.

And I'll end with Arkham Horror: The Board Game (1st/2nd edition) This game was something I was introduced to in college and I had never played anything like it. It is cooperative (games can be won by all the players at once!?! totally foreign to college-aged me) and long and complicated. It took several sessions of playing it before the owner of the game taught me how to set it up even. It's one of those. And without it, I don't think that I'd be who I am today. We also played D&D and Munchkin and Killer Bunnies and some zombie RPG where I played a prostitute and Catan and Axis and Allies and Starcraft The Boardgame... and so I probably would have ended up this brand of nerd either way. But this brand of nerd is horribly central to my world.

I work in a board game store. And this is the first job I've had that doesn't make me feel like killing myself. It's a lot of work, but at the end of the day I'm in the business of having fun. I get to sell people a good time. We're not so corporate that we have no lenience, but it's structured enough that I still thrive. The kind of people I met playing those games in college are why I shopped at this store and how I got this job the first time - and my personality is absolutely affected by this.

Super Mario Bros. Universe Luigi x GN! reader Synopsis: The Mario brothers are back in town after 6 years throwing a New Years Eve party. Your old crush Luigi will be there. Will he remember you? Warnings: Brief mentions of bullying.

It’s New Year's Eve already. Welp, another year wasted. Still stuck at your dead-end job, no relationships, a few close friends but we didn’t do much this year. You can’t be too surprised though. The past few years have been pretty much the same. And the perfect end to such a boring year, you’ll count down on your couch with your cat and a beer. Yippee…

*buzz* *buzz*

You look towards you phone that’s plugged in on your nightstand. Hmm, wonder who that could be. You go to your phone and unlock it to see a text from your friend Pauline.

Pauline: superstar wyd tonight?

You: absolute dog shit. U?

Pauline: yay! the mario bros are back in town and they decided to throw a nye party and YOU are coming with me :)

A party, huh? Not typically your scene but it would be nice to end the year with a bang. And you liked the Mario bros. You didn’t know Mario too well but you were super close friends with Luigi in your school days. You guys were best friends until the brothers moved ‘out of town’. Nobody really knows where they moved but hey, as long as they’re happy. As long as he’s happy. You missed the younger twin so much. It would be nice to see them him again.

You: ok yeah that sounds fun

Pauline: i knew you’d be down. be ready at 10 ok?

You looked at the clock. You had about 2 and a half hours until the party. Better start getting ready. I mean, you want to look good for this reunion, right? You go to your closet and scour through your dresses and jumpers until you land on the PERFECT piece! Now that that decision has been made, you lay your choice out on the bed and go take a shower. As you stand there, the hot water raining down, shaving your legs, you start to think back on your memories with the younger twin. 

You met when some kids were bullying him at recess in the 2nd grade. He was curled up under the slide crying while these two 3rd graders made fun of his overalls. I stepped in front of the boy and kicked one of those third graders right in the gut. Totally worth it. From there it was history. As the years went on you and luigi had grown so close. In middle school you developed a crush on him but it was clear he never felt the same way. Any time you flirted with him he just never seemed interested. So you pushed your feelings aside. You were content staying friends. A part of you never let go of those feelings though. 

The razor nicked your leg, snapping you out of your thoughts. Now was not the time to think about your crush. Besides, he’s probably got a beautiful partner now. There’s no way someone hasn’t snatched him but in the past 6 years. Anyways, you finish up shaving, washing, and hop out of the shower. You dry off, blow-dry and style your hair and then sit down to do your makeup. You debated between full glamor and something nice and subtle, ultimately deciding to go with the latter. Sitting in front of your vanity, it finally hits you. You're actually going to see Luigi after so long. You want somebody to pinch you! You wonder if Pauline told him you’re coming or if he’s going to be totally blindsided. Would he even be excited to see you after so long? You hoped yes but to be honest, you don’t know. It’s been so long and he might have changed. He could have completely forgotten about you. God, you hoped that wasn’t true. In fact, you’re just going to tell yourself that he hadn’t forgotten or else you’d spiral and you’re in far too deep at this point to back out.

You finish your makeup and slip into your garment. After putting on your shoes, you take one final look at yourself all put together. Not bad. If you saw yourself from across the room you would absolutely go up to yourself and hit on you. Perfect. You check the clock and you’re about 3 minutes ahead of when Pauline said she’d be here. You decided you would go ahead and wait outside for her. Just as you lock your door you hear a whistle followed by the voice of your friend.

“DAMN BABE YOU CLEAN UP NICE” Oh Pauline. Thank you for giving my neighbors a reason to hate me. You quickly run to her car before she has any more chances to disturb the neighborhood. “Hey hot stuff. Are you trying to get laid tonight or what?” Your face turns a deep red color and Pauline’s face lights up. “You still have the hots for the plumber boy don’t you!” You roll your eyes already regretting accepting the invite for tonight. “Can you just drive please?!” “Fine, fine. I bet he’s gonna explode as soon as he gets a piece of you.” You decided not to acknowledge her and try to control your mind on the ride to the party.

Music starts pumping into your ears as you walk up to the house. This is it. Your old best friend is right inside. You’ve got this. You both enter the house and get a little overwhelmed at just how packed it is. But that didn’t matter because you immediately spotted green. Pauline followed your eyeline and smirked. “I’ll meet up with you later” she says and then disappears into the crowd. After waving her off you notice the elder twin dressed in a classy red suit with his arm wrapped around this gorgeous tall blonde dressed in pink. Good for him, you thought.  You then speed over to the younger twin and just before you reach him you run into some random dude and get knocked onto the ground.

“Oh! Miss, are you okay? Let me help you-” You look up and lock eyes with Luigi. He recognized you instantly and for a moment it was like time stilled and your two were the only people in the room. No, the only people on earth. You take his outstretched hand and he lifts you back on your feet. “Hey.” You take what feels like years to respond. “Hi Weegee. It’s been so long” He smiles wide at the old nickname you called him. Quickly, he wraps you up in a tight cozy hug which you are just as quick to reciprocate. “I’ve missed you so much mi amore” You were so excited to see Luigi you almost didn’t catch the name he gave you. Almost. 

After getting over the shock of seeing each other, Luigi finally takes a good look at you. “You look absolutely bellissima!” You turned red at the compliment. First the nickname and now the complement? You don’t remember Luigi ever being so forward before. Not that you were complaining. “Thank you Weegee. You look pretty handsome yourself.” He was wearing an elegant emerald green suit with a tie embroidered with green mushrooms. He looked jaw droppingly gorgeous. “So where did you and Mario end up moving all those years ago? I would’ve visited you guys if I knew where you were all these years!” At this Luigi’s face contorted to a mix of embarrassment and guilt. “Maybe we should go outside to talk '' He leads you both to the backyard where there's virtually nobody and it’s much quieter. You both sit down on a bench that faces a bird bath. “I’m so sorry I never told you we were leaving or where we went. It’s actually pretty confusing to me even to this day how it all happened. You might not even believe me.” You look at him kind of confused for a moment before smiling. “I’m sure I can understand. Try me.” You nudge his arm with your elbow. Luigi takes a deep breath and explains how he and Mario fell through this thing called a ‘warp pipe’ and landed in this place called the ‘Mushroom Kingdom’. He said for a long time they couldn’t find a way back to New York but eventually the princess of the mushroom kingdom helped them find a way to travel between the kingdom and earth. He even explained that the very princess that had helped them get home was the woman you had seen with Mario earlier.

You feel like your whole world got turned upside down. Luigi didn’t just leave you. He had no choice in the matter. But he sounded happy about living in this new kingdom. Would he just leave again forever after tonight? And don’t even get you started thinking about the fact that there's just a bunch of pipes that can send you to other worldly places!! Lost in thought, you jump when you feel Luigi’s hand on your shoulder. “Are you alright mi amore?” You take another quick moment to process everything before responding. “Luigi, it does all sound insane but I do believe you. I missed you so much. Are you planning on staying in New York now that you’ve found a pipe that connects? I need my best friend back.” Luigi looks sad. There’s something else in his expression that you can’t quite place. “The mushroom kingdom is my home now. You were overwhelmed with love. All of the feelings you’ve been fostering for years are coming to the surface. You can’t be sure this was real. You tried to remember back to your school days, scanning the memories and finally realizing those moments where you thought Luigi was just being nice, he was flirting with you. It was all falling into place for you. You were just too caught up in your feelings for him that you didn’t realize that he did in fact like you too and he wasn’t blowing you off. “Of course I feel the same, Weegee! I just never said anything because I thought you didn’t feel the same.” At that Luigi sprung forward bringing you into a tight embrace, lifting you off the bench and spun you around the backyard. You both were so giddy with love and could not stop the giggles that sprung out. 

As your giggles died down, Luigi slowly brought you both to a stop, letting you back down on the ground. You just stare at each other, drinking each other in. You noticed his mustache and curly hair have a few grays in them. His eyes were so round and full of life. Little freckles were sprinkled across his cheeks and nose. At this moment you were sure there was no one you’d rather be with ever. “Take me with you.” You blurt out, surprising both of you. “What are you saying mia amata?” You grab hold of Luigi’s arms and lock eyes with him. “Take me with you back to the mushroom kingdom. I want to be with you. I don’t want to keep you from your home but I can’t be here if you’re not. Let's start a life together.” Now it’s Luigi’s turn to start tearing up. He can’t get any words out so he just shakes his head aggressively. 

“I love you so much Weegee.” Luigi tucks a strand of hair behind your ear. “I love you too mi amore” Luigi looks at your lips for a brief moment. You close your eyes and lean in until you feel Luigi meet your lips. The kiss was passionate, filled with more than a decade of what each of you thought was unrequited love. He tasted like basil. It was delicious. Suddenly fireworks started going off in the night sky, startling both of you and breaking up the kiss. You chuckle. “It must be midnight. Happy New Year Weegee.” Luigi leans down and gives you a sweet but quick peck in the lips. “Happy New Year vita mia.”

Kara and Jardon are so iconic in MCC like girl we had the Krimson Krakens girl and the FRIENDSHIP and how Kara won the first one and it took Sparklez like forever to get his win and we were all rooting for him and the doomed narrative of the Captain's Curse and Krimson Krakens aaa. They are so doomed but like... together doomed. AND they are MCC relevant because they've been around for so long and are the subject of popular curses / patterns.

Ok tbf I knew False and Ren were gonna get out first go but at least they lost to a duo I used to deem as appropriate. I've had these 2 ideas for about a year now. I'll start with one and wait for your opinion. I imagined a game where Kirby has to fight multiple factions (about 6-10 new ones) they're all fighting for an artifact with enough power to control all reality (the multiverse, lol). But little did they know that the artifact was secretly a demon preying on their greed and the constant fighting hastened it's release. Ok now that I'm thinking about it sounds like Star Allies. But Kid Icarus inspired it

Some of these ran pretty short so I ran through a handful of yours in a batch, Infinite! Hope that’s okay!

It's interesting that Kirby might be in the center of a conflict like this, because while Kirby could be considered greedy for food (depending upon the verse/interpretation) Kirby would really have NO reason to have any interest in this artifact, at least for its intended purpose, so would be the only person ostensibly immune to its/the demon's sway?

When you said 6-10, my thought was "broken up into worlds!" but it's pretty funny to imagine Kirby just tearing through faction after faction. Actually, it could be that the demon, which can't really trick Kirby into unlocking it out of a desire for power, ends up using Kirby beating up all the bad guys (to get them "to stop") as the energy it needs for its release?

At least, is any of that close to what you were thinking?

It's funny that although Elfilis technically counts as a "sealed away inter-dimensional monster" I still think this is a bit of a fun, original idea. Also, I could TOTALLY imagine Kirby setting off something like that on accident! That’s almost the perfect Kirby game opening!

Now, the set up makes me think Ancients ("Ancients!" are so much the "Aliens!" meme of the Kirby fandom!) but it wouldn't be weird to see other societies/locations they've had an effect on. I always think back to the Black Market filled with Halcandran goods in that Galacta Knight light novel. There's so many worlds beyond what we've seen! (Or even other cultures that might have misused Ancient tech. Kind of reminds me of the theory that Magolor might not be from Halcandra at all, but just an opportunist.)

Honestly, I think bringing back some of the old power-up concepts from the older games would be really cool! (Like KTA’s idea!) But hmm, I don't know if I specifically want another Robobot-focused game. (I mean, having a sequel after  such a long time might be fun, but I don’t want to go back to the HWC as villains. Maybe something involving Lightron? (...I think that’s the name of the company from FL. The ones that spell out HAL?)

Speaking of HAL, given how much they treasures their old & unused concepts, there's a better than average chance we might see them again! Although I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby wasn't the one riding them...!!

(I want to see Susie's Cat Secretary design and Hyness's more Owl-ly designs get reused as future characters, myself! If you buy into one of the unused Magolor's becoming Haltmann, it's not that far-fetched either!)

One thing I love about the anime is how important they make Nightmare! I really like that they treat the game last bossses (...Okay, boss singular) with respect.

Oh, as for the "Wizard" thing, on a language note, I find it utterly fascinating that as opposed to "magic-using" characters like Marx and Magolor and Taranza, the "Wizard" in Nightmare Wizard is pronounced in English! It really distinguishes him, which is perhaps the reason I like to give him a greater sense of importance than he perhaps deserves.........

But he shares this “uses English in his name” with Drawcia Sorceress! I've always felt there was a connection between them, myself! (I recall a Twitter post somewhere that noted they both had a frame of VHS looking static in their animations? And that Eflilis did too?! Yeah... I think SOMETHING is up....)

But indeed, the anime and games have a strange little relationship to each other! Galaxia, as I recall, was brought into the games from the anime? Meta Knight’s sword didn’t have that distinctive design + the name until after it aired. 

I don't think Galaxia has much game lore, but we also have some other interesting swords in the games that we haven't seen much of since! Particularly the Rainbow Sword from DL2 and the Master Sword from Amazing Mirror! (I would love to see some update on ALL of them, myself! Maybe we can get a Meta Knight & Magical Sword focused game! The fact that we got to see Meta's old sword in FL means they're at least thinking about it!)

Is Wolfwrath the monster from Meta's backstory with... Garlude, is it? I guess I need to watch those episodes, as they seem to have affected a lot of people!

Re: ESC 2024 hosting because of ABBA: I’ve got THOUGHTS even tho I’m just an American (don’t get me started on American Song Contest that needs to die we have 57 of those WHY DO WE NEED THAT ONE) lol. The thought are as follows: I get that it’s ~tradition~ for the winner to host next year’s contest (afaik it’s not like written in the rules, right??) but like… had they just been HONEST and said “Sweden is going to host ESC 2024 regardless of winner for ABBA’s 50th anniversary” I really think everyone would’ve been like “ok that’s fine get on with the show, whoever wins can host 2025 or have a separate event” but instead (this may just be the American in me who sees corruption everywhere lol) I fully believe Sweden paid a lot of money to get the jury to make them the winner (or otherwise somehow rigged it) and because of that, whether you like her or not, Loreen’s “win” will always seem suspect and luckily it seems like the juries are bearing the brunt of the nasty reactions, not Loreen (whether you like her or not, nobody deserves to be shat on for what the juries did), she’s always gonna have those allegations over her. Do I think Finland should’ve won with that popular vote count? Yes. Do I think Loreen had anything to do with Sweden actually winning? Not really. I really hope whoever’s in charge gets their shit together before next year and change rules to have it actually be fair (ie, if you won once you can’t compete again, abolish the juries and have the popular vote win, etc) because it was FUN this year with unique acts (for the most part lol) and then Sweden ruined it and soured the whole thing for everyone INCLUDING THE PERFORMERS and that makes me sad. It’s supposed to be fun. You’re not supposed to go home hoping your country doesn’t hate you.

Listen, even before the Swedish national selections I've been reading wank to Loreen. I didn't know who she was, because I don't watch Eurovision religiously (metalheads in general think that Eurovision is crap and this year we all were proven it is crap indeed). I heard her song and didn't even remember it for the first time, I totally spaced out when I watched the video. It's nothing special. But everyone was treating it like the highest form of art.

They kept saying she's going to win the national selections, and then the whole contest. I think someone created that hype around her on purpose. So many viewers thought the song was something exceptional, while it isn't. I personally think they pulled her out of her sleeve and created the hype to win it. Because the same strategy was used with Blanka in Poland. Promoting the song on TV, then in multiple countries, etc.

Sometimes shady tactics are not necessary to get high score in televote, it's simply marketing and I can easily see it in both cases here (but ofc Blanka didn't get that many points from the jury, because Poland is not one of the jury pets and we always do better at televote).

The jury votes, I'll leave it to your own interpretation. Whether it was marketing (the bookmaker odds overhyped Sweden to the ridiculous degree as well, it could also be a marketing strategy), or if they were paid. Who knows? There is no proof for anything, but to me the blatant promotion of the song was pretty clear.

To me Loreen is no one special and because of this whole hype around her I just can't look at her, I avoid everything related to her, and didn't even want to look at her performance. I'm not the person to send someone hate, however. I just avoid what I dislike. I love Käärijä, so all my attention goes to him. Indeed, Sweden ruined it all, because without them even the televote could be different. Many people mass voted for Finland trying to beat Sweden (they were probably tired of the whole promotion of this song, too). I think Käärijä would still win the televote without Sweden playing dirty, but without such a huge advantage. Would Loreen be 2nd though? I'm not so sure. Every person I talk to, says that the song is nothing special.

Next year I'm definitely not going to vote. When there's a good song, I'll just stream that artist on Spotify and support them on social media. This year we were proven that even great artists can score very little points, so this whole Eurovision ranking is for bragging rights only. Nothing else than that. Just being there is good for every artist, because they get huge exposure.

So it really doesn't matter if we vote for them or not. It only matters if they go there. That's it.

Terror Time 2023! Days 25 thru 29

Afflicted (2013) I'm guessing the reason they call it this is because "A Canadian Vampire in Paris" gave the wrong idea.

In all seriousness, the cruel ironic contrast between where Derek is in regards to death at the beginning and end of the movie; he'll be dead within about a year to never be able to die at all. *chef's kiss*. That being said, he put on quite a show during the events of the movie, I'll be a bit surprised if it's not taken as proof to the world vampires exist. The only logical place a sequel could go are the world governments opening a new vampire hunter department. Either that or Derek will have to move halfway across the globe.

The Man They Could Not Hang It's fun looking into an alternate universe where the Saw franchise started 65 years earlier. OK, I joke, but now I want to see it for real. Boris Karloff could sweet talk me into disemboweling myself!

I want to say this could all have been avoided if Dr. Savaard had a terminally ill person to be his volunteer instead but given how quickly everyone else seems to leap to conclusions as is, it probably wouldn't have made that much a difference after all. Then he's REALLY lose faith in humanity.

The revenge part itself was too short and had too small a body count. But I guess if you wanted a proper revenge slasher movie with this setup that had only one or two survivors, you would have to wait at least two decades before Hollywood would take a chance on that. Well, at least I get to see Karloff play both the resurrected monster And the scientist that created him at the same time.

Phenomena (1985) So the moral is I shouldn't be cruel to bugs because they can be my friends, but rat-faced boys and their families deserve death? Huh?!

Otherwise, it is a Dario Argento movie, though a little more star studded than usual. I think I've gotten use to the weird music choices for the exploration/escape sequences. Also, I don't know why it's always so satisfying when your serial killer villains die at the hands of animals. I guess it's because so many of them fancy themselves apex predators or such, that the universe literally proving that's not true as they're defeated is the icing on the cake.

So last Saturday was a full moon, so that meant...

WEREWOLF DOUBLE FEATURE!

Late Phases Werewolves already symbolize puberty in quite a few films, it's refreshing to see one symbolize something totally opposite.

While killing the dog upfront the way this movie did was hard to watch, I think it was necessary to make sure we at least understood Ambrose's side on this. He's not the most likable guy already, to the other characters included. But I feel that's what he wanted at this point in his life. And even though the werewolf itself wasn't in the movie much (Not that I blamed them, that design wasn't great), I think it ended up working to the movie's advantage. It actually becomes like a chess match, especially once the werewolf realizes Ambrose is on to him. Tom Noonan was a pretty obvious red herring all things considered, but I appreciate the actual wolf was the 2nd most religious character in the movie at least.

The climax stretches credibility when you see the normal man suplex a werewolf! Age isn't really an issue, since they're both old, but c'mon! What's the advantage otherwise?

Well, can't say I didn't get a good amount of gore I come to expect from werewolf movies. At least his son knew the truth by the end. Even if it lead to a quite goofy final shot.

Werewolves Within Werewolves seem to lend themselves more to whodunnits then vampires do for some reason. 'Cause if they're not the main character of a greek tragedy or in an urban fantasy setting, that's the kind of movie they show up in. I'm guessing it just makes the figurative killer within that more literal.

I do like that it's used to deconstruct that one archetype that's been constant in movies it seems the past 20 years, along with taking a shot at small towns and showing why most of the people who live there are the worst. Are there enough people left to even count it as a town at this point? If it doesn't, that's a lot of free real estate I guess. Last note, I liked which character got to land the killing shot on the werewolf. Revenge is a dish best served...without sandwiches. If you've seen it, you get it.

Child's Play 2 I saw the first one, along with Bride and Seed a long time ago. And I know I have even more to catch up on.

How is it that while this one seems to have a cleaner look then the first one, it feels a lot more darker? Lo and behold, adults actors not coming back for the sequel have serious consequences on the kid characters. This was practically setting up to be horror flick already without Chucky coming back.

Speaking of which, I like stupid he is in this. Not the concept, I mean the character's intelligence. He practically lucked (or fumbled, depending on your POV) into that disguise, and other than that, he makes just as many rational decisions as...well, an actual serial killer. I've talked before about how slashers tie into the true dangers of suburbia and the privileged. In this case, not only does Chucky have a better way to hide in plain sight then Michael but not as good as Freddy's, he also specifically taps into the bad that comes from people who live there buying into consumerism, with a product that even after it's "paid" for, continues to take and take and is never satisfied. Other that that, the real genius of Chucky's look is to show how he's constantly the most immature character in these films, even moreso then the actual kids. He's not much less mature as certain billionaire CEOs we hear about at least.

Maybe that's why, when Mancini had more control over this one then the first movie, he had the climax at the company factory. Even if he can't directly tie Chucky to the amoral corporation storywise, he could symbolically here. Even though I figured he would camouflage himself better then he actually did.

Good to see you again, Chucky. Next stop to catch up is Curse.

And then later in s1, after Will’s disappearance, Joyce shows the drawing to Hopper- except it’s a different drawing, like physically it’s not the same one even though the characters are the same. The second one is definitely done by layering a yellow pencil crayon over a blue one.

Why the two different drawings/fireballs?? They clearly HAVE the drawing in the first screenshot, so why didn’t production is that? Why did they chose to use a different version where someone took the time to layer yellow pencil crayon over blue pencil crayon? ???

But wait, there more:

There’s not just two different drawings. There’s THREE.

The first one is the one that Joyce shows hopper. The second one is the first time we see Will drawing the fireballs in the flashback scene. The third one is the end of the flashback scene. These are 100%, physically, different drawings. The last one has the fireballs horizontally AND Will draws rails onto them. But the second one has no tails and the fireballs are diagonal. And the first one has diagonal fireballs but made by layering yellow and blue pencil crayons.

And even though you can’t see it in the screenshot, int he show, with the way Will moves his hand in the 3rd screenshot drawing scene, the diagonal fireballs from the 2nd screenshot drawing scene are NOT THERE. So physically, these are THREE different drawings on THREE different sets of paper. But why??

Jerk Employer Part 1

I am posting this on behalf of a relative, with their full permission. I have posted this as part 1 & 2 as it was too long.

I have been a home worker since 2014 due to different medical conditions. It was via a passport put in place by myself and my line manager that was updated every 6 months or so, depending if something new cropped up June 2022 we were told our building was closing and the roles were moving north, they were closing around 300 sites and keeping just 30. We now needed to be relocated within a call centre site that was up only further up the country, we were told we had until the 31st March 2023 to find a new role or leave BT. We were told we would have support from senior managers we had none. Until several months later when the 2nd line manager needed our team's help and it was mentioned and passed by within seconds of the call. We made counter claims, but they were all rejected. We had the help of a brilliant Employee Rep who put these claims together. Due to me working from home since 2014 we asked the HR Rep of our area how to go about getting a Work from Home status due to disability for myself. Well the HR rep went away and came back and we followed those instructions, however they were totally incorrect. You would think HR would know the right process but I understand a lot was going on. After many months, and an assessment with an outsource company, I was able to get that status. I was assured my role was secure and I would carry on as per normal. The relief was overwhelming, but then guilt was not far behind. It looked like I was going to be ok but my work family, they were not. There was such a sense of guilt it was also overwhelming, to the point I was stressed, and my depression overwhelmed me at times. There was also a hold on any new roles within the company, so my work family were struggling to find any new roles. We worked hard, often giving up our time to get things done that needed to be done, our team alone added up to over 200 years in BT. February 2023 we were on a call to be told there was a head count challenge. On the call we were shown documentation stating that Team members Grade C (my grade), will no longer exist, but we could apply for the E grade roles that were to take over our roles. So, I applied like the other 3 grade C's, to be considered for one of the E grades. I assume these documents were sent to HR, who was also on the call, and the union's the managers and employees were signed up with.

The brothers already have a hard time dealing with one lucifer but two, oh hell naw

Lucifer secretly thanks you for making things easy for him. He can count on you on keeping mammon in check

"what books" the tsundere stated averting his eyes, totally bad at lying

"Would you rather i take goldie or would you be a good demon and stay there"

"Good, besides what I'm doing is lighter than what lucifer would do"

That is something he can agree too.

You are stern and strict, no doubt about that, but you are also lenient with your punishments especially towards lovable idiots like him

On the bright side whenever mammon gets cursed by witches, two intellectuals can help him go back to normal faster

And when it comes to cats, oh boy

It's a competition of who can successfully sneak in a cat without being caught by the eldest

You somehow won the first round, but you got greedy and tried to snuck in 10 cats at once

Well safe to say, you got busted and earned a good lecture from lucifer

"What kind of dumbass would actually try to sneak in 10 cats at once" Satan mocked

Mammon and Levi hides from you, they can tolerate Asmo's sexiness but with yours, it's inevitable for them to have a nosebleed and they become to shy when you try to act dominant over them, making them weak in the legs

Satan and Lucifer asks you to tone the sexual hormones down a bit since it's making everyone tired fighting not to have a boner

But you just flirts your way out

And also can you not buy a truckload of clothes, i mean sure they look good on you but for Diavolo's sake, your one day worth of shopping can last you a year without buying anything again

Asmo at first sees you as a competition, seeing how you are able to gain attention just by existing but as time passed by you became his comrade in everything

It's a blessing for the lustful demon to finally have someone so similar to him who will accompany him in make up routines, dress ups, and clubbing

"How about it sweetie, i doubt you're not aching down there" you teased seductively, caressing Asmo's thigh

It's good that you are eating a lot but that's too much, how can you possibly go head to head with the avatar of gluttony itself

It's also good that you workout along with beel since, you need to burn some fats or else your health may deteriorate

Mammon was panicking when he saw you sleeping in the roof while slowly sliding down to your doom

Lucifer reprimanded you for this, but it just went out from the other ear

Lucifer asked the youngest to look after you since belphie is also fond of falling asleep

Belphie grew fond of you since he felt a bond when he figured you also love sleeping

He kept you from falling asleep in weird places and just lay beside him, becoming his pillow or just a sleep buddy

Beel makes sure, you guys eat as well and not just sleep

ok lemme explain; as someone who was a regular on BSN back when it was a thing and these games’ release: mass effect 2 had its fair share of controversies, one of them being the early leave of thane’s writer Chris L'Étoile, one of the major lorekeepers of ME. we don’t know whether he would have written him to be cured or not, and its irrelevant imo, because the lack of a cure was and is the least of the problems surrounding his narrative. there are 6 romance options in ME2 (7 if you count samara), 3 for male and 3 for female shep. out of these 3 options jacob cheats on her, and thane dies, leaving fshep with 4 total options by the 3rd games endgame and sheploo with 6. not only is she given less options, her choices are stripped away in a way male sheps are not. she has to experience being cheated on, losing a loved one etc. this was during the gamers gate era, before there were “grills on the internet”. this was the time people would ‘meme’ on forums about killing zevran for flirting with their male warden. these things mattered. 

and keep in mind that when the 3rd game came out there were no citadel dlc, nobody addressed thanes absence until the very end of the game for a 2 second flashback which was bugged on release and sometimes didn’t show up at all. liara comes to comfort you about ash/kaidan but she cant pay a visit for thane? it was clear that the writing team didn’t know what to do with him after L'Étoile left and his story suffered greatly for it. as he had been the poster boy of 2nd game, people took notice, and most criticism surrounding it doesnt seem to stem from the fact that he died but it the manner in which he was swept under the rug.

CONFESSION:

probably a very unpopular opinion, but i wish people would stop saying ME was wrong about not curing Thane. I think it's important to have those stories in games. it's so often we have to see our loved ones fade away like he did, sometimes pass away abruptly. dealing with it is never easy. and it's so odd to me when people bring up Mordin or Cerberus' resources. did everyone forget genophage required a ton of deadly research and Cerberus did some really shitty experiments...

hi i saw your post about Cytherea Knowing Things in gtn but just hanging out, you say in it that you don't think cytherea killed the fourth, what do you think killed them? i can't find a post about it if you've talked about it before and i'm very intrigued!

ok this is gonna be super rambley but tl;dr: i don't know what killed them but it doesn't make 100% sense for it to have been Cytherea. the 4th house weren't any more disruptive to her plans vs the 8th/2nd, who both avoided being targeted by her, plus the 4th teens were running around upstairs potentially pissing off canaan house ghosts.

(to preface -- i'm not like, totally committed to this theory. after I made that post i reread GtN a few more times and i think i have reached a point where i would feel satisfied enough accepting that cytherea killed the 4th teens IF she did it to corrupt Gideon and push Gideon further along her corruption arc into becoming a Model Cavalier. like, i think issac dying is when gideon decided she was willing to die for harrow -- after gideon sees jeannemarie's response to his death she's like "no cavalier should have to watch their necromancer die". etc)

but further explanation:

my original reasoning is bc even considering the above, it just doesnt make a ton of sense to kill the 4th with regards to Cytherea's motives, which appear to be threefold: 1) prevent the eventual ascension of new lyctors 2) not be found out as an imposter and 3) aquire gaius-blood to open the tomb. she killed abigail&magnus bc abigail was looking into history, and she didn't want to be discovered as a fraud. she killed dulcinea&pro to take their place. she tried to kill ianthe&harrow to end the lyctor trials once it was confirmed that they had figured it out. she specifically told gideon she would spare her, bc in order to crack open the tomb the blood has to be fresh.

and, posing as dulcie, she GAVE silas the keys the 7th house had. silas, as we know, was no threat to her plans -- not only was he unwilling to engage in the lyctor trials, his character is such that he refused to ascend even after the instructions were laid out to him. similar can be said of the 2nd house -- they weren't killed because they simply weren't getting in Cytherea's way. but.... the same could be said for the 4th house teens. they refused to collect their facility key because the dead abigail&magnus had told them not to. issac would never have ascended to lyctor because he would never have killed jeannemarie. IMO jeannemarie would never have made herself a lyctor-battery because.... abidail said not to, and issac wouldn't have let her anyway. so it just seems senseless.

and I know the construct that killed them is the same as the one gideon&harrow fought at the end on the terrace, but!!!! that isn't necessarily cytherea's personal construct. like it could just be a Construct Of Canaan House that cytherea used as a convenient ally. this is, i admit, the largest hole in my theory.

so that's why i think it wasn't Cytherea. so who was it? i think it was something tied to the unexplored ghosts of canaan house.

bc the only thing the 4th house did that the 8th, 6th, 2nd, etc didn't, was actively explore around and investigate upstairs (harrow counted doors, but she did most of her poking around in the basement after she made the map. the 4th house actually explored the upstairs area, enough to get grimy and dusty etc.) the 4th teens were doing SOMETHING, running around sweating scared searching in the upper levels of canaan house. They found Pro's remains because they were poking around inside the waste incinerator -- why were they poking around in the waste incinerator!!! etc. i think maybe they found something connected to the yet unrevealed secrets of canaan house and it killed them or it. but who knows!
