Make sure you vote tomorrow, March 5th (2024), when most states are holding their primaries!

Speaking as a Californian and my personal experience as a voter and in doing pollworking for the past couple elections...

If you got a Vote By Mail ballot, you can drop it off at any polling place/post office/ballot drop box (if it has the correct county envelope you got it with - the county will forward it to the correct county for vote counting, same as the post office). MAKE SURE YOU READ THE ENVELOPE BECAUSE YOU'LL NEED TO SIGN AND DATE THE ENVELOPE BEFORE YOU RETURN IT. (And your signature needs to resemble the one you signed when you registered.)

If you want to vote in-person, you will need to find a polling place WITHIN the county you're registered to vote in, preferrably your assigned precinct - you should check your county's website to find the location if you didn't get a notice by mail.

I don't know how every county does this, but in my county, the accessible ballot marking device has access to all the ballots in my county, which is great for people who can't find or travel to their assigned polling place during the poll hours. Each polling place only has access to pre-printed paper ballots from the precinct(s) assigned to it, which is why the accessible ballot marking device (which prints the ballot once you finish marking it) has been super important, since people tend to just go to any polling place they've heard about or used in the past. (And we DON'T have access to ANY ballots from a different county, not even on that device.)

Voting registration and vote collection is done by each county SEPARATELY, so you won't show up on a roster in another county, and they won't have the ballot you're eligible to vote on. You'd need to re-register/vote provisionally with the different county in order to vote on their ballots. (Which is why it's important to vote on the Vote By Mail ballot that was sent to you - it has all the races you're eligible to vote for, SO GO DIG IT OUT OF YOUR MAIL PILE AND VOTE ON IT, 'CAUSE THEY WERE SENT OUT IN LIKE JANUARY OR SOMETHING. THAT SHIT COST AN ABSURD AMOUNT TAX DOLLARS PER BALLOT, SO DON'T WASTE IT.)

If you haven't registered to vote yet, you can register on the same day you vote! (Again, this is for California, I don't know how other states do it.)

Again, make sure you find a place IN YOUR COUNTY, and try to vote at your assigned polling place, so your vote is counted where it matters!

TLDR: Order of importance:

1. Fill out the mail ballot that was sent to you. Take it to the post office, polling place, or official ballot drop box. It must be collected BEFORE THE POLLS CLOSE. Drop it off on your lunch break, if you need to get it in before closing time.

2. If you can't do that, go to your assigned polling place. (Check your county website.) Same importance as number 1, but you may have to wait in a line depending on what time you arrive.

3. If you can't do that, go to any polling place in the county you're registered to vote in.

4. Register/update your registration to vote. No one can be denied the right to vote at the end of the day, but if it's not with the county you're eligible to vote in, your ballot may be deemed ineligible. (I've never done anything on the ballot-counting side, so I definitely can't answer questions about that. If you're curious, you can get an answer by calling your specific county.)

Side note: do not wear any merch that has a candidate's name who's on the ballot while going to vote. This is electioneering, which is illegal. (Also includes any propositions or other items on the ballot.)

Random but like should I re-download snapshot.

I kinda removed it from my phone but didn't delete my account lol. So like 2 years ago when I got news of a3! English shutting down, I deleted snapchat to make more room on my phone for the game files. I tried to go through the character and event stories on twitch to like. "Preserve" the English version of the game. It was not very organized and I barely got anything done lol.

Then! Dragalia was shutting down, so i tried to kinda do the same thing. Dragalia was like 14 or 16 GB. So I kept snapchat deleted lol.

So I finally got the stupid corpse of the game off my phone and on an external hard drive, plus my save file from that game file extractor program someone put on github. I removed random photos from my phone and put them on an external hard drive. I finally have free space on my phone.

So should I re-download snapchat to see what my irl friends who I have not been in communication with for the past 3 or 4 years since covid lockdown lol. (My snapchat is for irl friends/college and high school classmates only.) (But also not having pressure to post stuff there for the past 3 years has been nice. But also I've not seen my friends for a very long time lol)

i got the idea for this from @/startagainaprologue a lil while ago and have been rotating it in my mind since. ive hosted one of these before so! yeayeayea

some more info under the cut …. what it is, how its going to work, etc.

okay so, essentially! this is going to function as a secret santa type event. if you dont know what that is…

basically, each participant will be assigned another participant to make a gift for (in this case it’ll be some kind of artwork. drawings or writing, etc). then, on a designated date, everyone will reveal their assigned person + gift at the same time. the catch is that your gifts and who the gifts are for are meant to be kept secret until this reveal.

while im not gonna share any specific dates yet, i will say that the given “gift-making” time will take place over about a month, and the “gift giving” period will go on for about a week (so as to not spam lol).

another important note i wanna make clear now is that this event will most likely be held through a discord server for organization sake, if only so i can have easy contact access to participants. you can ofc still participate here on tumblr, post your gifts etc, but main communication will be through discord.

of course i dont have aaall the details thought out right now, but!! feel free to ask any questions :) the purpose of the poll is to kinda. gear people up to the idea. event. etc. give me more time to plan + hopefullyyy get an estimate on the amount of people ill have to be worrying about,, teehee

well i have lived through 41.8C in house with no AC so i guess im just built different

my point is who is to decide that "70% hot" makes sense to humans and not a much lower %? what the "hot" is is completely subjective. it makes no sense to me and the only reason it seems so intuitive to you is because you used it your whole life.

100% is "way to goddamn hot to go outside" (lol) ? but isnt that completely subjective? and some places get higher temps than that fairly often? your 100% is completely arbitrary. why does it make sense for "vibes" to set 100% on the temp scale as 1 temperature that is pretty hot outside out of a range of temperatures?

to me, 20% hot is what is good and normal. because i dont like hot. and 100% is water boiling hot. which seems like a pretty intuitive and normal thing to me. "good for vibes based decisions" as they say.

and you know. most of the entire population of earth does not need to use a special scale to make vibes based decisions. because celsius is intuitive.

In a weird way, Heath being a werewolf didn’t come up too often in your house.

It was probably because many of his wolf traits had become normal to your everyday routine. His long hair, his shaggy tail, and even his wolf form assimilated into your isolated farm-life with very little issue.

(And with the hunters off your back and most townsfolk none the wiser, it could stay that way)

It was only when he’d ask you a pop culture question everyone should know, or ate the steaks you had bought raw as a midnight snack, or forgot how your air conditioning work, that you were reminded of it. How long had Heath lived as an “other”, detached from society and other people? You very rarely broached the subject, knowing how he would get quiet and bristle at the thought of the past. Of living on his own, on the edge.

So you’d answer his simple questions, let him gnaw on some bones, and let him tell you when he needed to. It was better that way.

You’re watching a movie one night, not a terribly good one, where the main character gets dragged to a club by her friends. They’re convincing her she needs to ‘live a little’, forcing her out of her comfort zone and onto the crowded, sweaty dance floor. The scene is dark and not very well lit, the background music not properly mixed and drowing out most of the audio. Though you guess thats pretty accurate to the club experience.

“Do people actually do that?”

Heath asks, head laid in your lap as you play with his hair.

“Do what?”

“Go to…that.” He points at the scene, eyes scrunched up at the jarring lights and mass amounts of people. “Go to a crowded place in the dark and dance? Why not go somewhere with some room? This place looks like a fucking nightmare.”

You laugh, watching as the clumsy main character dives and dances between egregiously grinding couples.

“It definitely can be, but people seem to love it.” You twirl a finger through Heath’s hair, only paying half-attention to the clunky dialogue. “And it can be nice once in a while, especially if you’ve got a good group of friends.” You chuckle. “Me and my college buddies would sometimes get wasted before hand, go and dance for an hour or two, then come back and get in our pj’s and watch a movie. I prefer clubs in short bursts; they can be kind of exhilarating, but exhausting.”

Heath hums, pressing his head into your palm when you scratch behind his ear. It makes you smile, but not before seeing the slightly melancholy look on his eye.

You look up at the screen. Now the main character is thoroughly drunk, holed up in the bathroom with her friends and laughing her ass off. They all dance terribly, cracking jokes and hugging each other the way drunk people do. They’ve all got big smiles on their face, even in the grimy bathroom.

Heath has gone quiet, your hands still running through his hair. He sighs.

You weren’t a big club person anymore, but you do remember loving that time of your life. Sure, you’re shitty knees and early bedtime weren’t great for it now and you’re sure you left those clubs wondering why anybody does that on the regular, but you had still been able to do it. To knock it off the checklist, even just to say it wasn’t for you.

You don’t think Heath ever did. Never was able to be that careless, joyful, and deliriously young.

“This movie sucks ass.”

Now that’s more like Heath.

The look on Heath’s face lingers with you for the rest of the night and into the morning, enough to remind you when you both sit down to watch something again the next night.

“How about we don’t watch a movie tonight?”

Heath turns his head up from his tub of popcorn, quirking his brow.

“Oh, did you wanna play some video games?”

“No…” You look at the dimmer switch not too far from the couch. Its right next to your back porch door, adorned with some fairy lights you hung up and proceeded to never use. That, combined with the never used bluetooth speaker above your fireplace, gives you an idea.

You hop up from the couch, queing up a certain song in your phone before flicking the dimmer and the fairy lights. The low light makes Heath’s wolf eyes shine, his ears flicking as he readjusts to his surroundings. With a little beep from the speaker, you set down your phone and jog in front of Heath, letting the song start. His ears swivel again, looking up at you like the adorable puppy he can be.

“Isn't this that song from that movie a couple nights ago?”

“Yeah!” You bop to the beat, shimmying your shoulders to the heavy drum beat intro. “Don’t pretend you didn’t like it. I heard you humming it in the shower yesterday morning. Now come on!” You grab and pull at Heath’s hand, even knowing he’s far too big for you to make him budge. “Come dance with me! Everybody’s always talking at me-”

Heath rolls his eyes, but you can tell he enjoys your discordant singing.

“Everybody’s trying to get in my head. I wanna listen to my own heart talkin’. I wanna listen to my own heart talking. I need to count on myself instead. Did you ever-”

With a dramatic pout om his face, Heath chuckles and sits up, grabbing your hand as you sing into a pretend microphone. But you’re still doing most of the dancing, shaking your hips back and forth. You wiggle your eyebrows and try to encourage him to move.

“What exactly should I do?”

“Just…” you wiggle your fingers, “let your body roll with the music. Let it consume you.” Hands still interlocked, you begin to sway Heath’s arms back and forth. He gets some of the idea, bobbing his head. Your shoulder movements become exaggerated, trying to look as ridiculous as possibke to encourage Heath to loosen up.

“I’m not gonna stop, that’s who I am. I’ll give it all I got, that is my plan.” Heath laughs at your flailing arms, beginning to shimmy his shoulders like you are. You mime the dramatic facial expressions of Zac Efron, gesturing to Heath to join you in singing. He rolls his eyes, but starts mutter-singing anyway. You didn’t expect him to know all the lyrics, but he’s actually hitting all the words with you.

I knew he liked High School Musical 2.

You pull Heath out to the middle of the living room, giving you more space to add some footwork as the chorus hits. You yank Heath’s arms back and forth and shake your hips, which only makes Heath laugh more.

“-you know you can bet on it, bet on it, bet on it, bet on me!”

You let loose one hand and stretch out to the side on the long note, when Heath pulls you back toward him for a spin. You giggle uncontrollably, singing louder and louder, squealing when Heath dips you. He nuzzles your nose and gets a peck to the lips in return.

You hop up, throwing your hand to your forehead when the dramatic slow part begins. He rolls his eye again, but you can see him nodding along.

“It’s no good at all, to see yourself and not recognize your face-” Heath hops in with the backing “oohs”. You point an exaggerated finger. “Out on my own, it’s such a scary place.” You’re cut off when Heath pulls you into his chest, wrapping his arms around your waist. But you’re even more gobsmacked when he sings the next part, in earnest.

“The answers are all inside of me. All I gotta do-” His voice is surprisingly melodic, deep but not flat or even off-pitch. “-is believe.”

The natural pause in the music would be the perfect time to sneak in a romantic kiss, but you’re both caught up in the performance now. You both turn to look at an inaginary camera when the music drops, arms now locked as if dancing ballroom.

“I’m not gonna stop, not gonna stop till I get my shot.” Moving across the living room with messy footwork, you two belt the chorus. Heath draws you down for another dip when the long note of “-bet on meee” hits. It’s silly, but you do feel like a pop star.

From the outside you’re sure you look absolutely insane. Just two adults flailing and dancing around their living room as speakers blast. If you had neighbors, they’d definitely complain or be calling the cops by now.

But right now, its just you and Heath. Dancing together, hearts pounding, with big smiles and stupid amounts of giggling. Just a pocket of your life, all sweet and your own.

The song slowly fades out, leaving to lean over and shamefully realize how out of breath you are.

God, I need to start hiking or something. This is embarassing

Heath, with his wolf stamina, is not even breathing heavy and catches you in a hug, peppering your cheek with kisses. He bounces on his heels and practically throws you down on the couch, his tail wagging behind him. He snuggles into your neck, blowing raspberries into your skin and making you laugh.

Still letting your heart slow down, you exhale and look at Heath.

“So….how’d you like you’re first dance party?”

“I liked it!” Heath pants, a big stupid smile one his face. “More than I thought I would. You being so terrible at dancing really helped.” You gasp, playfully smacking his shoulder. He blows another rapsberry into your neck, the pleqsant rumble in his chest. After a coupe more play hits and giggles, Heath relaxes into your arms. “I’ve…never really done anything like that before. It was nice.”

“Well, I’m happy to be your first.” You run a couple fingers through Heath's hair, stopping to scratch at the base of his wolf ears. He nuzzles even deeper. “And if you ever feel the need to dance party again, just let me know.”

The two of you sit like that awhile, as you often do. Just basking in each other's warmth, soaking in the skin contact.

You can’t wait to spend more firsts with him.

I have nearly 60 followers and thats really insane to me, but I appreciate it a lot! I've mentioned it before, but uploading my art online has always been kind of anxiety inducing for me. Truth be told, I once had another art account on Twitter for another fandom, but the amount of people so quickly kind of overwhelmed me to the point I closed it really, really fast. I've always struggled with social anxiety, and I just wasn't in a place to handle more than like..1 person seeing my creations lol. This fandom though has been SO nice, and I really have been enjoying Tumblrs interface actually posting art. I've always been afraid to leave comments, but I have really wanted to make connections and express myself since I've been in a good mental state. I guess Turbo was the final push for that haha. Anyways, besides me being sappy, I want to let you guys vote on which animatic (or maybe even a polished animation lol) you'd like to see from me! Also send drawing/doodle requests in my ask box too! I am alive! After a long delay (forced to work in office for 2 weeks killed me), here's my post on the chosen dnd cookbook recipe!!! lmao

I chose to make the Vedbread! They're mushroom rolls with cheese. Not exactly a meal by themselves, but I just really wanted to try them so bad lmao

The recipe calls for a different kind of mushroom but they say you can use shiitake, so that's what I went for. I had to buy a lot of shiitake sdfsg

Anyway, let us begin!

First thing to do is to dice the mushroom. I unfortunately don't have a food processor yet so I had to do it by hand. It...took a while.You cook the mushroom with salt and butter until the moisture is gone and they're all nice and grilled. You also dice some shallots and cook them with! And finally when this is all cooked you remove from the heat and add parmesan and fresh thyme. I'll admit I didn't feel like spending the extra money for fresh parmesan so I just used the cheap stuff I had in my fridge, which I admit probably changed the flavor but it was still tasty so wtv!

While this is cooking and smelling delicious you prep the dough. Shred some gruyère and all that.

The shredded cheese goes directly into the dough! It's a chunky dough. You have to knead it just enough thats its smooth and incorporated. Then you have to spread it in a rectangle, which was somewhat challenging due to my lack of tools and preparation lmao. Ignore the ball of saran wrap I dont wanna talk about it

Then you spread the mushroom mixture all over this nice rectangle!

Struggle number 2, rolling it up in an even tube! Mine was not even at all but it was a tube! Then you have to try and cut it into equal pieces. Mine were....not equal pieces but the show much go on! They tell you to trim off and discard the ends but since there's no eggs in the dough I just ate it. Which legally I can't recommend bc raw flour can also be bad for you (more likely to, iirc) so do as I say, not as I do!

FINALLY you place them side-up on a baking sheet and brush them with an egg wash! And then you pop them in the oven!!! And then you take them out and be in awe and the delicious rolls you have just created!!

These were super good! And I'm saying as someone who generally doesn't like cooked mushrooms, but I've been making an effort with shiitake lol. If you like the general flavor of shiitake but don't really like the texture of cooked mushrooms, I really liked these bc the mushrooms are minced really small! The cheese is also really good. They kept SUPER well at room temp in an airtight container and they reheat in the oven really quickly and for the entire week that I've eaten them they tasted always fresh after a little trip in the oven. This was definitely a nat20 on recipe choice!

Those of you who were looking forward to this I apologize for the time it took but I changed projects at work and it's been a nightmare lmao. I'll probably be stuck in office for a week and a half soon again so I probably won't do the next poll within that time, but hopefully soon. I might do a noodle recipe from one of the star wars cookbooks tho just cuz i feel like it. I haven't actually cooked a whole lot lately bc of work :'D So I kinda miss it. Anyway I hope that was mildly entertaining, and get out there and make yerself any kind of bread rolls bc everybody deserves breadrolls. New AU incoming: Scarian fake Dating AU

Okay, so, the premise of this is Scar is the mayor (classic, I know), and the press and his PR are like "You need to get a partner to keep up public image". Which, Scar is absolutely not interested in. But now the press keeps making speculations of him being with the last person he interacted with and now, people think he's some sort of womanizer.

But while all of this is happening, he decides to destress in the public library (bc I'm a nerd), and keeps finding the same dude in the same section every time he goes there. So, he initiates small talk and learns this man is Grian, an architect fanatic. They learn they share similar interest, like both being cat lovers, and Scar finds himself very comfortable around this Grian guy. So, after learning all the small things about Grian, he just brings him gifts (bc thats his love language i decided <3), like a new cat toy, or bakes scones, and more.

Bdubs, his PR, is like "dude, you really need to find someone asap, you're losing the election poll", and so, reluctantly, Scar asks Grian to fake date him so that he can keep his status as mayor, bc void be damn, he's a good mayor. He makes sure it's Grian's choice, bc he prioritizes the comfort of others before his own benefit, but since this is scarian, Grian accepts. But also, Grian thinks this is the prank of the century and will not back down a challenge.

Anyway, so, i'm not quite sure how it is going to go, because while i absolutely adore scarian, I also adore my alloaro Scar headcanon and I think a fake dating AU would be great to play with that concept. So, at first, I was thinking, they don't live with each other, but they love annoying Bdubs and just being the best of friends (while worshiping their cats, as they should). And so, while Scar does win the election, the press is being more nosy and they have to move on to the PDA stage of a relationship. It is a very unusual form of love language and while Scar likes touches and hugs and doing handshakes, it's a bit more uncomfortable for Grian.

And while they're trying to figure out this whole PDA thing, Grian kinda oopsie falls in love with Scar bc, damn, that man is so endearing and like, who wouldn't fall for this idiot? (Bdubs wouldn't, but you didn't heard that from him). And fluster scenes all over the place!!!

And then I'm a bit stuck, cuz while I think Scar would definitely smooch Grian, would he be in love? Sure, he appreciates him and his company and wouldn't mind if he lives with Grian or vice versa, but in his head, it's like they've reached friendship premium. You could add some angst and miscommunication, and then oop, the next election is coming up soon and the citizens aren't sure about the public image Scar is protraying, and this has gotten out of hand, lol, idk where i'm going with this, but do you see the vision?

lol i’ve had an account here since i was 13 but like. before then i would look up “funny tumblr post” on pinterest and laugh at the funnies. so i’ve probably actually been influenced by this place since i was like? 10? (maybe thats good, maybe not, idk.)

anyways i’ve never really found a reason to use mainstream social media over this one, a lot of it is far too exhausting for me. i cannot stand tiktok at all, its way too fast paced. twitter is annoying, reddit is also annoying, and instagram is like. awful for artists lol. (also my relatives follow me there and they’d probably try to follow my art account. and they probably wouldn’t like what they’d find LMAO)

so i just continued hangin out here. i don’t think ill ever change platforms cause i like it here too much. maybe youtube but even that place is a bit terrifying.
