billie whined on the other end of the phone, "it's not the same, ma."

I continued packing my suitcase. "I know, babe, but you know I have a huge meeting that I can not miss."

she grumbled, "I know." I heard water running and movement. "Wish me luck." she muttered as she began to brush her teeth.

"i'll be manifesting for you," i joke, walking to the bathroom to prepare my toiletries. "You're going to win the grammy." i reassure her.

i could hear her take a deep breath and sigh. "Yeah, hopefully. i think i should go to bed, big day tomorrow." she cheesed.

"Alright," i say dramatically. "If you have to."

she made a kiss noise, "i love ya."

"i love you too. Text me when you're up." i kissed her back before she hung up.

i checked the time on my phone, silently thanking billie for hanging up at the perfect time. i zipped up my suitcase and threw on my slides before walking out of the house. i double-checked to make sure the door was walked before i drove off towards the airport.

the cool winter breeze caught me off guard as i stepped out of my warm car. i dreaded all of the airport security traffic. it took me forever to get through everything, but i had finally made it on the flight that would take me to surprise billie.

i found out 3 hours before she called me that the meeting was canceled, and i decided i was going to surprise her. i booked the fastest flight and sound one that was perfect. i was surprised it was still available.

i sat peacefully on the plane, drinking Sprite and eating the iconic honey roasted peanuts. of course, i spent the whole time worrying over billies' reactions. would she be mad that i lied to her? i pondered back and forth, defending each argument for yes and no over in my mind.

the loud, robotic sounding woman over the speakers awoke me from my sleep. i rushed to get off the plane as i only had 2 hours to make it in time to see billie. i went to the nearest airport restroom and changed into my stunning dress that i had been saving for a really special occasion. it was a long, ruby red silk slip dress. it had a slit in the right legs and was long enough to trail behind me. i had straightened my hair before i left, and it had managed to stay intact. i did quick but elegant makeup and called my Uber.

the wait for the Uber was spent getting cat called by older men while waiting for billie to text me back.

me: How's your morning going, babe? i miss you

the Uber arrived and took me to my hotel room, which i had to rush to get ready since i was running late.

i basically threw on the dress that complimented hers, so i had enough time for makeup. luckly, i didn't like to do heavy makeup.

whenever i was finally done, billie texted me.

billie ❤️: god everything reminds me of how much i wish you could be here.

billie ❤️: theres an extra seat at the table for some reason

me: hm thats weird, dont worry, though i have the live video pulled up right now

i lied as i climbed into the Uber. i told the man my destination, and he began driving. butterflies were building up, and i couldn't wait to see her reaction.

i made it right in time, making it in time for the music related awards. i chatted with Lizzie Grant, one of my favorite music artists, as i waited for billie to leave the table so i could sneak in.

whenever they finally announced the first award for "what was i made for?" she got up and walked onto the stage.

i slid into my seat quietly, waving to finneas and claudia, who were in on the surprise.

i admired billie on stage. i was so proud of her. I couldn't contain it. a stupid smile spread on my face as i saw her bright smile on stage.

"Thank you so much. i really couldn't have done it without y/n and finneas. i love you too, and im so sorry you couldn't be here, baby." she blew a kiss to the camera, which i knew there'd be edits of later on.

she walked back, thanking all the people who congratulated her as she walked by.

she was only a few feet away whenever she made eye contact with me. her face lit up, and her smile grew. she ran towards me, pulling me out of my chair and capturing me in a tight hug. she peppered my face in kisses before finally meeting my lips. she held her lips on mine, and i didn't want her to pull away.

"You actually made it!" she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around my waist.

"How could i miss it?! my meeting got rescheduled, but i was planning on surprising you anyway. so everything worked out in the end." i explained.

"When did you get here?" she asked, her smile never fading.

"literally 2 and a half hours ago." i laughed, my arms snaking around her neck. "im so proud of you, bil."

"Thank you, mama." she pecked my lips once more, "i love you."

"i love you more." i smiled, "youre amazing. you deserve this so much."

What would the other Prisoner's T3 Guilty Restraints look like? (Fun Theory)

This is the First Part consisting of 010004003001006,

Even if you're only interested in other Prisoners, this section is important in understanding the conclusions I come to.

The Second Part is here, consisting of 005002008007009.

There are three elements that can help us here,

a) The Sneak Peaks from the PV Trailer (002003006007010) b) Undercover second chorus sprites c) How they killed their victims

and establishing the rules™️with Kotoko and Muu

First off!

Kotoko Yuzuriha

PV Sneak Peak

Muzzled ayyyy.

Anyways this is really interesting. 002003006007010 all have sneak peak of what appears to be their T3 restraints, but I'm not sure if thats all there is to it.

I think those sneak peaks are specifically what they look like if they got Guilty Twice. My reason being all the difference between the Sneak Peak and the Final Sprite.

The Muzzle, the Collar, the extra Side Release Buckles and Leather restraint.

These are two different types of muzzles (Something I'll get back to again later),

T3!Kotoko appears to be wearing a Cage Dog Muzzle, and from what I can tell it's muzzle intented for long use.

Whereas PV!Kotoko's muzzle appears to be Biothane Dog Muzzle, which seems to be a popular muzzle for dogs, some considering the best choice muzzle-wise.

This leads me to belive that since Kotoko only got Guilty in Trial 2, she got the Cage Dog Muzzle, instead of the Biothane Dog Muzzle, which she may have gotten instead with a Double Guilty verdict.

Then there is the Collar

Me and the gang getting matching collars after being punished for our sins.

Now while they all have their own slight variants, but the fact they all have collars, and that current T3!Kotoko does not, further pushes the idea to me that these are Double Guilty Designs.

The Extra Side Release Buckles and the Extra Leather padding also furthers this, to me, as they are not part of Kotoko's original restraints and have to be something added on.

So out of the 5 Sneak Peaks we got, in the end only Fuuta and Mahiru's may be acuurately depicting what their T3 Sprite would look like, with their previous Guilty Verdicts. Though perhaps it would be more likely to have ended up like this in a world where Kotoko wasn't affirmed from the get go.

Now let's go Posing

Now T3!Kotoko heavily mimicks her Second Undercover Sprite. The inward legs, front arm restraints, leaning forward, it all matches. So far it matches.

Regardless, in Kotoko's case, Second Undercover Sprite and her Trial 3 Sprite Parallel each other. Good to keep in mind when considering other prisoners restraints.

Method of Killing/Attacking

Kotoko loves kicking anything so much, she does the camera in Undercover, Mikio Oshii (Bicycle Guy) in Harrow, stomps Tsugumichi Kaneshiro (her victim) to death, Fuuta evens states getting stepped on by her is how his eye ended up the way it is. It's her thing.

Makes sense a T2 Guilty would end up with restraining her legs. Pretty straightfoward. She killed using her legs so when her beliefs get rejected, her method of killing gets restrained.

We've almost finished the rules, time for the Queen Bee.

Muu Kusunoki

Sneak Peak: Nil

The barbed wire veil is very fun though. Like a mourning veil, she can't touch her face without potentially pricking herself. Not that she can really touch her face anymore anyways, with her arm restraints. Speaking of-

Now her stance is pretty different, hell even her arm restraints is more like Shidou behind her, covering her hands entirely, than the ones she depicted with here. But we got the same idea of hands clasped together upwards. Though this does make it seem that 2nd Undercover Sprites aren't completely accurate. Espeically due to Muu and Kotoko's matching Verdicts of Innocent -> Guilty.

Love that since she wears heels, her feet got restainted to forced her on her toes, her heels aren't even that tall. Painful.

She's also falling strangely enough, very different to how tall she's forced to stand for her T3 Sprite.

Method of Murder

Forever holding her hands in a near prayer, trapped in the motion she killed with, her defining moment as a murderer. I do think how they murder affects their Guilty T3 Sprites, so I'll be considering that when discussing the others.

So let's discuss what the others T3 Sprites would be like

Fuuta Kajiyama

Did you think we were doing Haruka first? Nah Fuuta has a couple important details to consider.

Sneak Peak

Blindfolded, like Lady Justice.

He gets a whole lot of eye imagery. Eye being busted, eyes watching him, being watched. Being watched might be more sight imagery than eyes though. He looks pretty upset.

Regardless he said he would kill Es if he wasn't forgiven, but I wonder if he could do that blind. This could of been valubale info for Fuuta's T2 verdict, though whether it makes people want to forgive or unforgive him more might be unclear.

So if the Double Guilty verdict is true, this is what he would have gotten this time around. Collar included. Perhaps if he was Innocent first, he would have a different type of blindfold instead.

Now his restraints Oh wait

Are completely different to his Second Undercover Sprite. Jeez, Kotoko, I know you stole "Under" from Es but did you look over their shoulder to steal your sprite pose, how come the rest of the class isn't behaving like you?

His arms are in front in the Sneak Peak, a lot like Amane's Undercover Sprite with both his arms in a single sleeve. Yet in Undercover his arms are behind him.

For the Non-Sneak Peak prisoners, I'll consider their Second Undercover Sprite, but for Sneak Peak Prisoners, it gets trumped by the Sneak Peak PV.

He doesn't have his jumper in his Sneak Peak oddly enough? It looked like he's wearing some sort of over jacket but it's not like the jumper he has in T2. Did he only gain a jumper because Kotoko attacked?

Okay restraints are unreliable. And that was the main thing consistent between Muu's Undercover and T3 Sprites. But for simplicity's state, let's say his Guilty T3 Sprite does hand him standing sort of like his Undercover Sprite. Making a bit more hunched over? Like Kotoko perhaps. I'm unsure if he'd look upset cause of his verdict or still have that strained smile like his current T3 Sprite for Amane.

Method of Murder.

He has a lot of suffocating imagery. Fire, smoke, spray cans. Even though he's shouting at Es, they look like they're gasping for breath. Regardless I think his arms being restrained as seen in his Sneak Peak and Undercover does that job.

Conclusion

This is the most I could think of, though I don't trust the pose all that much. This is roughly what we missed voting him Innocent. His clothes probably stay the same as his T2 Clothes, so no change into whiter clothes for Amane. He might be wearing his pellegrina on top of his clothes though. Wonder what they do with his eyepatch? Maybe put it on the centre of the blindfold. Could make a "blind devotion" joke there. He probably have no choice but to be more dependent on that person, since he can't even see. I feel like he should have some sort of restraint on his legs, but I'm unsure what. The blindfold feels like punishment enough for Fuuta.

Now we're finally at

Haruka Sakurai

We already have his T3 Sprite!

Anyways, think of this Haruka we're making in a world where Muu wasn't Guilty.

Sneak Peak: Nil

Now this is a lot more speculation.

Since Haruka is our introductuary Prisoner, he may have a more standard headgear, kind of like some of the original straightjackets.

Also could be fitting with his detainment pre-milgram. Also matches a bit with Yuno's headgear. Not that duos need to match though. We don't have a lot to go off sadly. But I think this could work.

I wonder if he would still have Muu's Hairclip. It wouldn't get in the way. Muu lost her earrings but Kotoko didn't lose her piercings. I could see Haruka being more stubborn about keeping the hairclip, or at least his Mother's necklace.

Posing

He's likely not to be hunched over for his T3, standing up straight like Muu, perhaps emphasising his height. In a world where Muu got Innocent, I think he be looking at the viewer with a smile, because he suceeded in helping her. I don't think he be floating though, he'd probably be flat footed, unless he also gets though foot restraints, like Muu's, but I don't think there's as much reason for him to have them.

Method of Murder

Hands? Restrained! No need for additional ones.

Though I could see his ability to move being restrained, as his freedom of movement led him to be able to kill that girl. Ball and chain? Maybe too cliche. A Locking Leg Restraint or an Ankle Hobbit may be suited. Though the Ankle Hobbit suits Milgram more.

But maybe he get nothing at all.

Conclusion

Now since this is a world where Muu was innocent, she may help with dealing with the restraints or put the hairclip on for him. Maybe something else to match with him, but she might not go that far. That's all I can think of for him right now.

Time for the second T2 Guilty

Mahiru Shiina

No need to make the same joke twice. Also this is a world she survives T2.

Mahiru is also sort of a rebuttal to Undercover sprites, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Now she also has a muzzle, just not a dog-like one. She almost looks happy, or at least entertained.

I've seen people discuss similarities between her muzzle and like Hannibal the Cannibal. With it's bolts it does appear to be a heavier mask. Like Kotoko's Sneak Peak mask. But she is missing the small breathing bars that would be in the centre. Maybe that could have been the design for a single Guilty Mahiru , since it's less restrictive than this design. I like the idea though, so I'm going with it.

I don't know if these restraints would be able to stop Shidou from doing his treatments, though I don't think they would. She's mostly restricted orally and her arm movement. Also pretty sure it's not locking her jaw so she should be able to speak, and I don't think Milgram would take away a prisoner's voice. How would she eat though? At least Kotoko can east from a straw through her bars. Does her eating have to be monitor be an external person to ensure she has her mask back on afterwards? Who would be approved to do that, Jackalope? Forgiven Shidou?

Unless he's like dead. Not sure how to reach a world where she survives long enough to have a T3 Guilty Sprite. Maybe if Shidou was unforgiven? I say that because I feel Amane would still be able to kill Shidou even if she was unforgiven, she was very determined. I could see her attack Shidou after she got her guilty verdict, as restraints seem to changed at the end of the trial. Not after each individual verdict, as seen with Haruka killing himself after Muu's guilty verdict, yet she had no restraints. Shidou would of died a lot earlier in that case. Amane wanted Shidou guilty, but how to save Mahiru in either case is difficult. Unless my understanding of restraints is wrong of course. The again Shidou seemed more concern of further injury happening to Mahiru worsening her, so as long as Kotoko wasn't forgiven and no one else harmed her she may have surived. Jackalope did say there was a way afterall.

Whoops that's an unrelated tangent.

Regardless, this would likely be how she looks if she got her second Guilty verdict. Mask, collar, leash tied to her arm restraints.

Guys you're both making Kotoko look bad.

Perhaps Undercover Sprites are the restraint with only one Guilty Verdict? Though Muu's a counterpoint to that. It's odd. I suppose these and the Sneak Peaks may be what they initially imagined, and it changed over the course of the trials.

Anyways in the Sneak Peal her restraints are infront of her, not to the same degree as Muu and Shidou, but also isn't like the others with restraints in front. She's doing her own thing. Actually she's kind of doing her own thing in her Undercover Sprite too, arms across her chest making an 'X'. A combination of the two would be interesting.

I assume she'll be standing like her T2 Sprite, despite her wheelchair/bed-ridden(?). Unless she's able to walk? It probably wouldn't be as dramatic as Muu or Kotoko's.

If she was still in a wheelchair, she may get a Transport Leg Brace on her uninjured leg, since Kotoko has started the theme of leg braces. Likely interupting her recovery. If she is recovering. Mahiru you're making this hypothetical difficult. Also why I think she wouldn't be leaning forward like in Undercover, since it isn't good to put pressure on her leg.

So it explains her arms being restrained. Perhaps that's also why she has a muzzle, as her words are also a weapon. I wonder if her muzzle prevents speaking, i would think not but considering Yuno's gear it may be possible. At least her voice would be muffled.

Conclusion

I personally would have love to see a Double Guilty Mahiru as that means; a, she's alive and b, she gets to have a cool sprite. Though she might kill herself then, since life isn't worth it without love. Unless she gets unforgiven for reason other than her love. Don't feed rats to people. It's sad that her life is really dependent on Shidou. Maybe the true ending was them both getting guilty or something, unlikely haha. Really Kotoko should not have been forgiven at the start.

I doubt in a Double Guilty Sprite she would look anything other than sad. She's going through it regardless.

This post has become so much bigger than I intended. Originally all 10 Prisoners would have been in just one but I realised I needed more images. Also just so much to cover with Kotoko too. A lot of this is just speculation, but it's very very fun. The Second Part is likely to be more brief (Like Haruka's) since there's a lot less to go on.

When it comes to the non-sneak peak prisoners, I would love to hear some thoughts! Also apologies for any mistakes, (grammatically or otherwise).

why i love the edwin-crystal sibling like relationship from memory and why it makes me love crystal even more

there simply isn't enough online about 1. how awesome crystal is as a character and 2. how awesome her and edwin's relationship is. so imma dump all my thoughts here from pure memory.

ep1: so yeah, they start rough. but when jenny points out to crystal that she's so focused on her own problems that she's ignoring everyone else's, just like how she said the boys did, she resolves to change that. she realized she was being unfair because it was pointed out and she decided to try and be better. when edwin breaks down, she's listening. she's listening and understanding. she tells this boy, who has not been the nicest to her but she's beginning to understand, that she gets it. that she sees him, that his unnoticed death matters to her. she sees the sharp, jagged, raw and emotional parts of a boy that she'd only seen as cold and logical thus far. and when his unusually timid voice asks if they can focus on becky's case, she agrees. in the butcher shop, she offers to once again explain the internet to edwin. implying that she'd already done so. and she says it without any condescendence. when she's knocked to the ground, edwin helps her up and they sort of cling to each other as charles is reckless.

ep2: not as much here from what i remember but there's still some stuff. edwin does actually commend her actions in luring the sprites out, followed by telling her not to do it again. from an emotionally repressed boy from a time when fixing each other's clothes was the most intimate thing you could do in public, thats quite a big step.

ep3: one of my personal faves. crystal is quick to point out that edwin is jealous of her and charles. she does actually assure him that nothing would happen and its just a small show of her care for his feelings. now, in the house, do they bicker and argue? yes they do. but i would argue that most of that is fueled by their anxiety and fear for charles. when crystal points out that charles has issues, he ultimately listens. its shown immediately the next ep when he tries to be better and offer himself as a safe space, something he wouldn't have thought to do without crystal's guidance. when they actually work together, its incredible. crystal literally fights her own personal demon to get back to the boys. edwin is trusting her enough to openly admit that he has no idea how a vhs works and trusts her to put in the work to save his person. when she's in danger, he pulls her out because he cares and she's given him reason to. she doesn't question when she comes out from her own head and edwin immediately asks for help, something he almost never does. when she talks about how she's a bad person, edwin immediately tells her that she isn't. he wastes no time in assuring her that she couldn't be anything but the person she is now. she also points out the moment charles' mask goes right back up and offers a lot of insight to edwin. because edwin hasn't really had a friend before charles and charles was already doing this when they met. he had no reason to think that it wasn't a normal thing. but crystal points it out and he notices, he listens and he learns.

ep4: this is another one i dont particularly remember much of these two from. the ep starts with edwin asking if charles wanted to talk about his father, something he never would have done without crystal's guidance. when edwin tells crystal and charles to go off together, she asks him if he's ok, which in the moment, is said in a somewhat joking tone. but once he's gone, she asks charles about it because she's concerned about him and she knows him well enough to know something's wrong. when she's angry that the washer woman didn't give her an answer, he apologizes genuinely because he does want the best for her.

ep5: this ep starts off with a lot of emotional maturity from crystal. she admits that she isn't in the right space to start a relationship and i'll be honest, i hadn't seen that from a show before. made me love her even more. one of my favorite moments of the show is them haunting twitchy ritchy. when he makes deprecating and homophobic 'jokes', crystal is quick to shut him down. and i would argue that she knew edwin was gay, i'd argue for hours. she notices his distress and immediately shuts the dude down, and hard. in return, when ritchy tries to be intimidating, edwin is the first to step in. he extinguishes the flame with a satisfied lil smirk and crystal didn't even have to look over to know that he would step in. and we don't really see it, but i'd bet watching edwin do childish little haunting things probably made her smile. it's a scene i think about all the time. when edwin shoos them away from the summoning and charles questions his choice, crystal sticks up for the decision. its small and unintentional, but there is an aspect where she admits that he's right. something she wouldn't do if she didn't like him and respect him. and when edwin realizes that marin killed the jocks, he's rushing out behind charles. hell it looks like he's pushing him forward to get them downstairs. crystal emphasizes at the end that she sympathizes with the boys, that it was a shitty thing to have in common that they were all victims. yet she offers her sympathy nonetheless. and when edwin says he's had enough emotion for the day, she isn't offended that he wasn't receptive or anything like that. she just smiles, knowing that he really can't handle a lot of emotions and she knows that he doesn't mean anything negative by it. she shows that she understands him and that she doesn't judge who he is.

ep6: when crystal loses her powers, she's scared to tell edwin. she says that she's afraid that he would consider her useless and toss her aside. but that stems from the fact that she really values him as a friend and is scared of being abandoned by the only people she has. and when edwin finds out, he is shocked sure but he's also concerned. he insists that he wouldn't have left her behind and she tells him that he would. its an emotional moment for her and i wouldn't write off that she's just really defensive in the moment. when she sees the boys in trouble, about to be dead-dead, that's when she regains her abilities because she cares about both of the boys and gods be damned if she's gonna let a witch tear them from her. and as the walk back, she leans into charles because she knows edwin doesn't like touch. but he's still right behind her, still nearby and offering silent support. and he goes the step of naming one of their plans after her, plain and simple. she shows her appreciation in the same slightly sarcastic tone they use with each other all the time.

ep7: so many thoughts. the second she finds out that edwin is in hell, she's already resolved to go get him. she has known the boy for a few weeks at most and she cares so much and is so selfless that she doesn't hesitate to volunteer to go to actual fucking hell. when she's told she can't? she tracks down her abusive demon ex who has literally tormented and plagued her mind nonstop. she walks right into his domain and demands he open her a door to hell. literally demands the person who has ruined her life to let her into hell to rescue her friend. when he refuses? she's ready to throw hands and doesn't hesitate to do so. and when the boys come back? yes, she does hug charles and not edwin, but she knows that isn't his thing. but when it cuts back to the teens after the night nurse speaks, you see her arm falling from edwin's. even though he hates hugs and she knows it, she still reached out and held his arm to show how happy she was that he was there, that he was safe. because even though he doesn't hug, she still needed to show him she was happy he was back. she talks about how she fought david and edwin expresses surprise and concern. her retort? 'it was the funniest thing. my friend got dragged to hell and i just had to try and help him.' she doesn't even think about hiding how much she cares and edwin's little smile just confirms how much it means to him.

ep8: when she's recovering her memories, edwin is there. he's watching over her with charles and that just hits something in me. he must have spent so long in the dollhouse exhausted, hoping someone would watch over him so he could be safe and rest. and when crystal is vulnerable, he's doing it. he watches over her as she calls her parents and the second she says that they didn't care, he is insisting that there must be some kind of explanation. every time she wakes up after eating the memory orbs, he rushing to her right beside charles. and i'd bet my bottom dollar he was stressed the whole time she was out. when crystal leaves, edwin does offer her a handshake. she jokes about how he's changed, how he's gotten friendlier, and he jokes back, even throwing in a reference to hell. it's a sweet little interaction and it shows their friendship and familiarity. esther takes the boys and she doesn't hesitate to work a way to get them back. she goes right to the cat king and argues that edwin is her friend and tck should help them because he has personal interest. she charges right into esther's house and already has a plan in place. she spends a minute on charles because she knows edwin's in danger and his screams are fucking unbearable. she offers herself as a distraction so niko can free edwin. when she's pinned against the wall, she scream-pleads for edwin to hold on and it is full of desperation, because she needs her friend to be okay. that scream haunts my mind because she is scared and she knows he is too, and she needs him to hold on and be okay. and when niko 'dies', they are huddled over her body and mourning together. in the end, edwin gives her a professional offer for her to have a permanent place with the agency. and this girl, so naturally full of love and affection, hugs him with a massive smile on her face. because she's been looking for people to belong with and she's found em and they want her around. and she's gonna do anything she can to hold onto them, come hell, demons or high water.

basically, crystal is beyond amazing and her sibling relationship with edwin is my favorite. if you don't like her, argue with the goddamn wall.

old ass homestuck here (been reading since 2013, read with it all the way until the end of act 7 but i consider that the true end and never plan to read the epilogues) but i gotta agree i didn’t care for the squared sprites when they first appeared late in act 6 and i really don’t like them much more years later. i found davepeta slightly interesting but at the end of the day they’re the only one who even stood out enough to even pay attention to and unfortunately looking at them was visually very unpleasant due to the constant color flashing.

random disclaimerrrr this is really just my personal feelings, i'm not trying to make a statement about what is "true" or moral or whatever. i want to stress that i'm not against people making meaningful interpretations of davepeta... i understand the appeal of a trans/plural character. it's just hard to feel like any of that was intentional?

power to hussie for making jokes; but it's kind of confusing sometimes to frequently see davepeta - what felt like a really obvious joke made at the expense of the audience - touted like they're the most genius, intentional, meaningful, well-thought-out character ending or trans representation

especially with nepeta in particular... i guess it's left pretty up to the viewer to decide whether or not she was really done dirty at the end, but. personally i still think she was done fucking dirty. the death -> fefeta -> davepeta pipeline was not very rewarding in my opinion. she also never had a choice in any of these? it was not a consensual fate. she wasnt allowed to explore her own identity or choose this, her identity was simply shafted once again after a long pattern of it being shafted and mocked

davesprite is a suicidal character who gets made to end himself. and i guess thats empowering as a metaphor for some trans people but for me it was like ??? physically absorbing another person and then ceasing to exist didn't relate to me heavily but maybe it does for others! i've heard some talk about it being plural too, which i can also see, but they don't act like that's at all intentional in the story. i've heard a lot of "dave struggles with not being the alpha dave so he gets to stop being dave! :)" but why does he have to? he was dave first and longer, shouldn't the meteor dave change his name? 'dave gets to finally stop being a boy and embrace being a trans girl' does she do that? or is her individualism taken from her and regifted to a catgirlboy that is not actually trans at all but textually stated to be identifying as half of one cis girl and half of one cis boy?

guh i am trying so hard to not sound invalidating to how other people feel empowered by this character. while also explaining how its Not for me. once again disclaimer i LIKE what people have done with davepeta it just feels like, strangely un-empowering to me for these two characters to have their agency taken away in such a manner.

rose's dead corpse who literally just watched the love of her life die in front of her face gets dug out of her final resting place and immediately starts throwing herself at every women in the vicinity

arquius in particular is one i see get completely nostalgia goggled too because every moment they were on screen was painful dialogue-wise; but these days arquius is thought of like a vehicle for hal and equius gender thoughts. which is a concept with merit because of course both hal and equius have stuff going on gender wise and it makes sense to combine those but like. the character wasn't like that in canon and it never felt like they were meant to be like that. most of the time they were.. jokes. insulting jokes.

i get WHY its read a trans or plural narrative. just as a trans and plural person i did not read it that way or think that was what the author intended... and i find it a little uncomfortable in that regard

do you have any advice for those just starting out using renpy/ making games?

im still learning my way around renpy and making visual novels and what works best ..here are some personal findings:

..try to replace renpys default ui and mess with the options.rpy and screens.rpy right away , the more time put into it the easier it will become to make something unique to your senses. you can change basically everything. you dont have to make a widescreen vn either..4:3, square or portrait mode are possible as well

..look into layered images, the feature is really awesome if you want sprites that change outfits or want to be able to do unique expression combinations without having to save a png of every one

..its good to define characters, atl(animations), images, transitions etc each in their own .rpy file. you can make as many .rpy files as you need and you dont have to only use "script.rpy" to write your story. i divide my script into act files to make it easier..

n some not renpy stuff:

..this software helps you take breaks and avoid RSI and it is pretty invaluable for me. it will track based on the time you spend moving your mouse or keyboard. this also helps keep on task n if you get distracted you're more aware of it.

..if you are a writer, i cant recommend getting an alphasmart neo2 enough. especially if you cant handwrite. its an old device that lets you type textfiles without a bluelight screen. you can 'send' what you write directly to your computer through a printer cable and it types it out. it fits plenty and its useful for writing script outside the computer. refurbished ones on ebay are good.

..its easy to get really overambitious and perfectionist and then not make anything as a result..my advice if this comes up is to prioritize the existence of the thing rather than its ability to match the impossible image in your head. that ideal picture will always be shifting into more impossible territory as you improve anyway, so think about what you're actually capable of and make it actually happen!! important to remember ur not triple A studio.. being independent is an advantage cuz you can do anything!

thts all i can get from the top of my head tht i havent said here before(ithink?)..i think about the last one a lot honestly i think thats my best advice i have if you can call it that

i wonder if skullnutz genre is darker or edgier than samurai yaiba's.

when we see the samurai yaiba sprites, they are extremely colorful, neon essentially, which when i first saw caught me off guard a bit because of reko's usual in-game sprite usually getting tokened as goth or emo, or well, punk. the obvious and likely more canon compliant answer is that reko considers wearing clothing thats mostly black or grey as a way to make it more casual, and i would argue thats not wrong even if that alone isnt enough to make her style not stand out- but i would argue there's something to the intial idea i proposed, as well. alice had always been a presence in her life before, and reko likely didnt realize just how much of an effect that had on her until he was gone.

she lost probably *the* person who was supporting her her whole life, even if he sometimes didnt understand what was quite the best for her. she mentions that after he went to prison, she was so distraught music lost its meaning to her, and while she had experienced burn out before that point, id argue being unable to connect to music in the same way entirely when thats the core of her being is different, and probably affected her more deeply. that, and all the other character development reko has when shes trying to navigate the world completely alone for the first time, makes me think its not that strange that her worldview might tilt enough to lead her towards a musical style thats a bit more sad, sincere, angry or something along those lines.

looking at the members, a very good keyboard player with an okay bass player and struggling drummer arent exactly a good set-up for a hardcore punk band, which tend to be very bass and drum heavy and usually omit keyboards completely- there are a punk bands that are comprised of only three members, one for bass, one for guitar, and a drummer- if your strongest players are a pianist and guitar player, the sound will be very different. obviously punk as genre is more than just about sound, and admittedly keyboards as an instrument are a lot more common within j-rock and j-indie overall, but its very possible if reko was the lead composer she wouldve been limited in what exactly she could do. even if reko had wanted to, considering the skill set of the band members, its likely samurai yaiba wasn't quite the sound or genre she was looking for because she wouldve had to accomdate the tone of her music. of course, reko's growl is still specifically noted by alice, so there was likely still a hard edge / angry side of the band's music, but maybe not the one she was looking for. looking at the stage outfits again, they look almost 80s pop inspired at a glance (tiger stripes, bright colors and shapes) but i dont know enough about japanese music fashion trends to know how well that tracks.

i also like the interpretation that samurai yaiba stylistically had a lot of holdovers from when she was doing things to be more *successful* instead of being precisely what she wanted to do within a band. this isnt to say that reko was concerned with marketability or appeal, but rather that she probably actually did really dislike those aspects of samurai yaiba but 1. she was essentially groomed into the industry, being pushed into it at an early age; shes been taught to be as appealing as possible and even though she hates it she still has it internalized in ways she doesnt even consciously register and 2. her brother was always pushing her to be more successful, even though that was never what she wanted, because its what he thought she deserved. even as reko made herself an extremely difficult person to work with, its possible that she still wanted to appease him somehow by not just being in their band, but a successful band, like how she thinks he wants, resenting him for it the all along.

there are also two quotes from her AI that stand out to me:

"In middle school, I rebelled. I was a rocker! I made tons of songs nobody even wanted!" implying later on she did care about making music people wanted, and:

"From high school on, all the spice was gone… Didn’t even have anger… My activity dried up. / I had tons of chances to be famous. But I smashed 'em all. I was totally just the industry’s problem child. / Everybody kept their distance from me. Once I couldn’t even gather members, I borrowed Alice to make a band… Hahaha."

the way this summary is phrased makes it difficult to parse which parts would've overlapped, or if theyre all distinct eras. its easy to assume that throughout most / if not the entirety of highschool she was inactive musically or at least not enough to be considered significant, but then she goes straight into talking about being the industrys problem child and her band with alice. the implication might be that she was the industrys "problem child" both by rejecting any opportunities because of her inactive period, and then later on presumably her antagonizing and perfectionist attitude causing her to have to rely on her brother to make a band that would actually stay together through her harsh attitude. and this is likely just semantic, but throughout all that, reko never specifies whether or her "spice" or anger returns. obviously we know she had a pretty short fuse when she was in samurai yaiba regardless, but it makes me wonder how present that feeling was in her music at the time, and how it looked compared to the rest of her musical history. we know the height of her rebellious phase was in middle school, so it wouldnt surprise me if as part of her growth as an artist, samurai yaiba lulled in tone in comparison, and then she returned to a harder sound with skullnutz. then again skullnutz also has bongos in it so who really knows.

even if samurai yaiba wasn't a metal band, it definitely was mainly a angry rock band, albeit maybe with some pop and indie subgenres thrown in there. there isnt a conclusion to this. look at SY reko

I had just got up, I should've been up at the crack of dawn. I walked to the kitchen to see if there anything to eat or I could make when I hear Tenzin voice "That sport is a mockery of the noble tradition of bending" what are they talking about I wonder. "Come on, Tenzin! I've dreamed about seeing a pro-bending match since I was a kid and now I'm just a ferry ride away from" I hear Korra say. So this is about pro-bending I knew Tenzin would never agree to it. I walked into the kitchen so that I could get something to eat or cook as I walked the both of them turned their heads to see me waking in "good morning Y/N" Tenzin said, I nodded my head to acknowledge him that heard him. Tenzin than turned his head back to Korra and said "Korra, you're not here to watch that drivel. You're here to finish your Avatar training" I look at Korra and see her face is filled with disappointment "So, for the time being, I want you to remain on the island" "all right, you're the master" Korra said sadly as she looked out the window.

As the both of them got up and walked I followed I walked beside Korra and I knew than that Tenzin had something important to say "So, my mother informed me that you've never been able to airbend before" "Yeah, but I don't know why. The other elements came so easily to me, but every single time I've tried airbending, nothing" Korra said frustrated with her left hand on her hip. I put my hand on her shoulder to give her some comfort and it does she turned her head and gave me a smile as I gave her a faint smile of my own which I quickly replaced it with a neutral face.

Placing his right hand on her shoulder "That's perfectly all right. You just need to be patient. Often the element that's the most difficult for the Avatar to master is the one most opposite to the Avatar's personality. For Aang, it was earthbending" "Yeah. Well, I'm about as opposite an airbender as you can get." Korra say sadly, I just shook my head and it was true she was but thats doesn't define her and I told her the multiple times but she never listens. We started walking as Tenzin spoke "Let's begin your first lesson" Korra looked at the airbending master dumbfoundead about what he was saying as we walked up the stairs we saw the three airbending kids Ikki was jumping excitedly while screaming "Korra's gonna airbend! Korra's gonna airbend!" Jinora in the other hand stood there solemnly and than Meelo just doing his own thing.

"What is that contraption" Korra said slightly amused to see the spinning gates "A time honored tool that teaches the most fundamental aspect of airbending. Jinora, would you like to explain this exercise?" Jinora step forward and walk closer to the spinning gates and stared explaining "The goal is to weave your way through the gates and make it to the other side without touching them" "Seems easy enough" Korra confidently said I doubt that Korra. Now it was Ikki's truns to say something "Jinora forgot to say that you have to make it through while the gates are spinning" she say said with some much energy "sprites where does she get her energy" I think to my self that girl has a lot.

Tenzin step forward and took an air bending stance his hands above his head than he thrust his hand forward, releasing a bust of air. 'Well Korra good luck' I think to myself, as keep watching Tenzin coat is blowing behind him with the amount of he just airbent I switch my focus back onto the gates and it's spinning like a lot. Tenzin had a left in his hand, he than let it go of the leaf gently "The key is to be like the leaf." Tenzin said as I watched the leaf movements as the leaf want thought the gates it never touched the gate even once "Jinora will demonstrate" Tenzin said with a serious face and looking down at Jinora as she looked up at her dad.

Jinora stepped forward and airbent the gates than she step into the spinning gates her hand held up to her face as tenzin watched his oldest daughter. Waving her way though the gates switching direction each time a spinning panel came near her "airbending is all about spiral movements. When you meet resistance, you must be able to switch direction at a moment's notice" I already knew about as I studied and learn all forms of bending. Jinora exited in the other side of the gates the panels were now being to slow down. Jinora truned around than blow a gust of air making the panels spin rapidly again and here I am standing next to Tenzin as thinking I could maybe I cloud I have never done the spinning gates.

"Let's do this" Korra said determined to get through the gate without getting hit. I watch as Korra runs into the contraption the first panel was easy to get through but the rest was hard as Korra tried to get through the panels but hitting all of them Tenzin grimaced in pain watching Korra. As she got hit by two panels again and finally Korra makes it out of the spinning gates as she got knock down by the panels, Korra soon got back up on her feet and ran into the spinning gates again as me, Tenzin, three kids watched. "Don't force your way through!" Jinora shoted with her hand cupped so that Korra could hear her" I can hear korra getting hit by the panels

"Y/N has Korra ever been light on her feet?" I look at Tenzin and back to the spinning gates and answer while watching my sister fail to get through the gates "not much Tenzin but sometimes she has, she is able to dodge rocks that come to her but it look like it's not helping that she is learning airbending" "I see" Tenzin says I just nodded. "Dance! Dance like the wind!" Ikki shouted at Korra, Korra got knocked back by one of the panels "Be the leaf" Meelo told Korra while waving his arms to motion the leaf. Korra made it out the gates as we walked to her she feel to ground I look at my sister and than back to the gates maybe I could try.

"Tenzin do you mind if I try?" I asked "be my guest it look harder than it is" Korra say to while getting up. Tenzin noded his head and airbent the gates I watched for moment than walked in with my hand held up to my face and staying light in my feet 'When you meet resistance, you must be able to switch direction at a moment's notice' I hear Tenzin voice in my head as I switch directions and repeat again as I get though the last panel I look at the airbending master and my sister "well how did I do?" I asked tenzin looked shocked and surprised as well as Korra but I saw a hit of jealousy in Korra. "That was amazing" Ikki yelled as she jump "yeah that awesome Y/N" Jinora said to me I both of them a small smile.

"Yeah that was awesome you should do it again" I hear Meelo I chuckled at that. I tuned to see Tenzjn looking at me "that indeed was great Y/N I have never seen anyone go through the spinning gates in their first try" "yeah that was great" Korra said with a hit of jealousy I just smirked at that I knew her well enough for her to be so "thank you Tenzin it looks like my studies have payed off oh and Korra stop mopping it doesn't look good in if your want to airbend you gotta start thing like an airbender ok?" I say as I turn to Korra she look at me and gaves me a nod.

"I think that's enough of training for today" Tenzin told the kids and Korra. Tenzin turned to me " Y/N can I speak to you?" "sure" I said following him to his office. "What is that you wanted to talk about Tenzin?" I asked as I stood crossing my arms "Y/N I need to ask you a favor" we'll this strange "what is it Tenzin? spit it out" "well you know your sister gets into a lot of trouble" "yes, I know Tenzin" "well I was hoping you would keep her out of trouble" "Tenzin I do that already. I'm 30 Tenzin I've been this for a long time you don't need to worry about Korra. with the whole Amon thing you need to focus on that and training Korra I'll try to keep her out trouble" "thank you Y/N" "is that all? I would like to go practice some bending before dinner" I asked Teznin "yes that is all thank you again" I gave him a nod than left his office.

Korra said while punching forward I heard Korra so was frustrated that she could airbend but she need to be patient as I walk I see a newpaper with the picture of the chief of police Lin Beifong I think about her for a bit but I was bought back by korra "what is wrong with me? airbend" "you know that's not gong to work right" I say as I walk up to her. Korra was still sanding in the same position as she was before still trying to airbend but soon she became frustrated and impatient sighing as she sent a fire punch at the newspaper , I wanted to read that uhg guesse I'll go find a different one later.

"Aargh! Maybe I'm just not cut out to be an airbender, huh, Naga" Korra say frustrated "now don't say that Korra" I say as I put my hand in her right shoulder.

"I think I'm doing it wrong" I head Korra as walked to where they were. "Mind if I join?" I asked as everyone look to where I was standing "you don't even have to ask Y/N" Jinora said I sat down next crossing my legs, hands relaxed on my legs, closing my eyes as I take a deep breath in and out. Tenzin opens his eyes "There's nothing to do. Let your mind and your spirit be free" I knew when Tenzin said that Korra look annoyed "for air is the element of freedom" Korra chuckled at that and waved her hands. "Is something ... funny?" Teznin asked in dismay "Yeah, you're telling me to embrace freedom, but you won't even let me listen to the radio. And forget about leaving this island!" Korra said her voice filled with a bit of angry 'yup that's my sister the avatar but she does have a point' I think to myself.

"Please, Korra" Tenzin said than points at his Meelo "Look at Meelo; he's able to meditate peacefully" by now I had open my eyes and started watching them "umm Tenzin I think he's sleeping" I say to him, me and Korra look at each other than back to Meelo "What? Well, at least he has the relaxing part down." "Whatever. None of this airbending stuff makes any sense to me" Korra say clearly annoyed "I know you're frustrated, but these teachings will sink in over time. Then one day, they'll just click" Tenzin than closed his eyes and took a deep breath than opens his eyes. Korra tried agian but than soon gave up with a sigh "Yeah, it's not sinking in yet" Korra got up and stayed waking away "I'm gonna go get a glass of lychee juice."

"Korra, the meditation's not over yet!" Tenzin told Korra sternly but Korra was already gone "Daddy, can I have some lychee juice too?" Ikki asked with a hopeful smile "No" Tenzin told Ikki sternly. I just sighed "come on Tenizn just let her get some lychee juice" "fine" Teznin said Ikki smiled and jumped up and she came to hug me than left. "I didn't know you had a heart Y/N" Tenzin said to me, I looked at him with my eyebrow raised "and what's thats supposed to mean Tenzin" I say in a dangerously low voice "no.... nothing" he say quickly I smirk at that. "Good, I do remember beating you in a sparring match before Teznin wanna rematch?" If she keeps up with this than well than the gates might be destroyed and I was right Korra firebended as she destroyed the panels. As Teznin and the three kids look at Korra with wide eyes especially Tenzin "That was a two-thousand-year-old historical treasure!" Tenzin closes his eyes in frustration "what ..." Teznin angrily shouts at Korra making his cape fluttered behind him "what is wrong with you?" "There's nothing wrong with me! I've been practicing just like you taught me, but it isn't sinking in, okay? It hasn't clicked like you said it would" Korra said angry angrily at Tenzin.

"Korra, this isn't something you can force. If you would only listen to me ..." Teznin said calmer with his eyes closed "I have been! But you know what I think? Maybe the problem isn't me! Maybe the reason I haven't learned airbending yet is because" Korra pointed at Tenzin "you're a terrible teacher" "enough korra" I told her sternly she knew not to mess with me I might be her sister but I was also her water bending master with master Katara. Korra looked at me as if she wanted to say something I narrowed my eyes at her, she quickly shut her mouth and left.

I sigh "I'm sorry Teznin about Korra's behavior" "it's alright Y/N it's not your fault your doing your best" Teznin told me" he say as he put his hand my shoulder I gave him small smile which I never showed anywho beside some people. He seem shocked to see me smile even if it was lilttle he smiled back at me. "Yeah! You're a terrible teacher, Daddy!" Meelo said as he pointed his finger energetically at his dad. The two girls just hugged there dad I smiled at that.

Where's Korra" "Honestly, Pema, I am at my wit's end with that girl! I ... I don't know how to get through to her" that's all I heard before I zoned out think abt the chief 'spirits she's beautiful and yet no seem to notice that about her I wish that I could spend some time with her what I gave to know get to know her' I think to myself. I was only bought back when I heard Teznin "You must promise me that your teenage years won't be like this" "I will make no such promises" Jinora replied to her dad emotionlessly. Out of all the three kids I was closest to Jinora she was quite and intelligence but she was just a kid still so I let her be one when she's with me. I usually don't like people see this side of me which no will I hope.

I looked at Korra my arms crossed while she look up at me and Tenzin "Oh, hey, Tenzin. I thought you didn't like coming to these matches and Y/N what are you doin-" "can't it" I snap at her. "Once again, you have flagrantly disobeyed my orders. You were to stay on the island! Let's go" Teznin said to Korra as I just stared at the players that were in the podium i thoses were her teammates but I don't care I gave them a hard glare. "No! I'm kind of in the middle of something" Korra shots at Teznin ". I have tried my very best to get through to you by being gentle and patient" his voice getting anger "but clearly the only thing you respond to is force! So I am ordering you to come back to the temple right now."

Is this going to be often I think them fighting "Why? So I can sit around and meditate about how bad I am at airbending? You know, I'm beginning to think there's a reason I haven't been able to learn it! Teznin say than points at Korra "the Avatar needs to learn airbending! It is not optional!" I've had enough of them yelling at each other.

When will you learn that" Teznin told Korra but Korra has already truned and started to walk away "I have a match to go finish". I sighed uncrossing my arm so they fall to my sides.

Ring announcer

"The Platypus Bears win round two! The moment Korra stands on the platform, it starts ascending." Round three over. The Platypus Bears come out of the gate and quickly go after the Ferret brothers! They're corralled in the corner, wedged in the edge of zone one, unable to come to the Avatar's rescue! And boy, does she need it" (okay y'all I'm getting tried of writing this part so imma skip I know I can't keep skipping but in my defense I'm writing some long chapters for y'all)

The opposing firebender look annoyed by this sudden change; he and his team mates attack again. Korra who nimbly dodges their attack. Korra's feet, moving like an airbender would. Teznin look surprised and so do I for a little bit but not for long "How about that?" Teznin said dumbfounded.

Ring announcer

"The Platypus Bears have no juice left, but Mako and Bolin are still fresh and juicy"

'So that's there names huh Mako and Bolin not bad.'

"Knockout!" The ring announcer says so this mean they win not bad Korra.

I looked to the side and saw Teznin "woohoo!"he yelled as he pointed at the arena.

Ring announcer

"The Fire Ferrets come from waaay behind and steal the win! What an upset, folks! The rookies, Avatar in tow, have nabbed a place in the championship tournament! I can not believe it"

Teznin and me arrived at the island as we talked about the situation that's been going on in the city. We stop when we're near foot steps coming our way I knew it was Korra , Teznin glanced over his shoulder to see Korra. We truned around to see Korra as she started talking "I'm really sorry ... about everything I said" pointing to her self "I was really frustrated with myself" she than gestured toward Teznin "and I took it out on you" "I think I owe you an apology too. I was trying to teach you about patience, but I lost mine" "No hard feelings?" Korra asked hopefully "Of course not. By the way, you were really good out there tonight. You moved just like an airbender."

"Wait ... You stayed and watched" "yes we did Korra you really did a great job out there" I said to my sister she beamed at my praise not often do people get any praise from me . "We did. Pro-bending turned out to be the perfect teaching tool for you" Korra tuned around and started jogging in place "I'll see you tomorrow for airbending practice, bright and early" she said than turned around jogging away from us but not before she told us something "and, by the way, I kinda permanently joined the Fire Ferrets and we're playing in the tournament in a couple of weeks" finally now I can go to bed I deserves it. Before I left I looked at Teznin and asked "please tell me that you guys aren't going to fight anymore?" "well , I don't know about that" he said as he walked away "it better be a no Teznin. I am not dealing with you two fighting like kids" I shouted.

Feeling satisfied I turn around and went to my room I changed in my pajamas lay down on my bed. I stared at the ceiling for a while now thing about the chief. I can't stop thinking about her I wonder why. I sigh than close my eyes As feel the my eyes get heavy and so I drift off to sleep.

I found out what the avatars sisters name was after the speech that Korra gave. her name 'Y/N it's such a beautiful name' wait what am I thinking 'she's to young Beifong, she wouldn't want to be with you and you had your fair share of love' "I really need to do something about this" I say out loud as I pull up to my apartment. 'What am I feeling right now, why can't I stop thinking about her' I think to myself I didn't even realize that I was at my apartment door already.

Metal bending the door open I step into my apartment and went to my room, metal bending my armor off and putting it in my closet. I decided to take shower it's been such a exhausting day but my is flooded with the thought of the waterbender agian. I grabbed my towel and went to the bathroom taking off my clothes and turning on the shower. I step in under the the cool water I feel better but I still can't stop thing about

Y/N 'come on Beifong she's to young she would never want to be with you' "uhg why can't you just stop" I say out loud.

I finish off my shower and change into my Pajamas getting ready for bed. Finally I can rest I close my eyes but seem like I can't sleep, I stare up at my ceiling trying to think of something else besides of Y/N "uhg come on your a Beifong for fucks sake" I scold myself. I feel my eyes get heavy and I shut my eyes.

I would love to know more about Ilphaer - any tidbits you're willing to share that won't spoil anything you're writing?

Honestly I'm generally even willing to share spoilers. (I'm a believer that a story should be strong enough that even if you know whats coming, you should still enjoy reading getting there. At LEAST for the kind of story I'm writing.) The only thing I won't purposefully spoil are like. Character deaths. I need those to hit organically.

Except for Vhaeraun. We all know that motherfucker dies. But he's a god so it really doesn't count.

Anyway. Ilphaer! I actually have quite a few goodies to share with you, because I've been sitting on some art over the last few days (Save for one, they were mostly sketches, so this gave me an excuse to color them.)

As I've mentioned in the past, Ilphaer was born in the underdark, and originally trained up as a wizard. I think the themes of her story are two-fold. The first broader theme (And the theme a lot of characters carry, and is explored in different ways) is how absolutely suffocating and lonely she was in Lolth society, and how that lingers even after you leave.

Secondarily, however, she is the uhh. Gifted kid burn-out classic. Wizardry is, in my humble opinion, not a very subtle analogy for academia. She did the drow equivalent of "my life was 13 hours a day of studying for like 20 years and then I came out of it and didn't know what to do with myself"

But yknow. It was also survival through academia.

Her shifting into being an artificer is a reclamation of something she genuinely loves (Because she does enjoy learning and creation with magic) but allows her to approach it through a lens untainted by that past. She is someone who those associations seem to matter a lot to - She can't just forget her time in the underdark. Both good and bad things sit with her, and with equal amounts of weight, and she struggles to untangle herself from that.

She's also someone who personal identity and self-expression means a lot to, though thats something that she slowly builds on over the course of knowing Enclave for a good few hundred years.

Now. I'm still pulling together the threads about the exacts of how she joined up with Vhaeraun's church (I have an idea but I want to cook on it just a little longer before sharing), but she was absolutely involved by the time Enclave got there. She's actually planned to make her first appearance in uhhh the back end of Adjustment Period. Enclave steals her from a different Vhaeraunite group with her stoic charisma 8 charm.

Here's a less story relevant and more just fun character thing I was working on. Something from when I felt like animating, you know, just for funsies as you do (and then crashed out because I remembered how much I <3 loathe animation.)

Some battle spites already colored and prepped up for her, with the notes of:

"Most of her sprites should look vaguely like she's dancing. When she's idle, she teeters back and forth. When she fires off a spell, the weight of her stave pushes her around, and she spins into stumbling back. When summoning her canon (Design a better canon Editors note: I did not, in fact, design a better canon), she pulls it up under foot, and then falls into sitting on it. The impression is meant to be that she looks like she's having a little too much fun throwing around as much firepower as she has, and is not taking the fight seriously."

hi yall

me when i said i wouldnt make a habit out of being late 🤡🤡

in my defense, i was working on my coding final, which was probably a bit more important than dess-ember lol

and even that i still turned in like 10 minutes past midnight, lets hope my professor is gracious 🙏🙏

well, i guess im actually lying about enough of coding, because that actually is what my dess-ember is for today 😵

weve got these 2 lil sprites, made in ms paint the default colors. i used these lil suckers in my project! i made it an easter egg, so if you put your name as pretty much anything, you get a normal square, but if your name is dess or noelle, you get the one you are named as an icon!

(wdym this is my most low effort dess-ember as of yet? these sprites took hours! (lying))

okay well, yeah, it is kinda low effort, but i worked from waking up till midnight on my project, so i didnt really have much time 😵‍💫

i swear ill make it up with some nice stuff after finals, when the only thing keeping me down is work!

A really cute doodle I made for the fic granted its very wonky but it helped me figure out where to place the characters (this was 100% not an excuse to draw Percy. Trust me.)

ALSO a version of the thumbnail of it with Lorelai in her normal clothes instead of her knight outfit! I decided to change it since in the previous one you could still see her in a Knight outfit so I changed it and added some more text to explain it!

I kinda wish I didn’t remove this piece of dialogue because of just how funny it is. It was so funny I literally doodled the thing. Look at Molly’s face of pure terror. Unmatched.

Clearer version of the CH2 background! I wish i kept it clearer in final too cause it took genuinely forever to make this but oh well… You can also see some of my other edits are in this too! I will never stop using that one lorelai sprite. Never.

Weirdly well-done shitpost I made to parody the car scene I did in CH2. I used the “Draw your comfort characters like this” meme for it.

Starting off a little early to have enough time to write and embrace the fall mood without cramming it all into one very spooky month. Last year I think I think I kinda burnt out 😔 so extra time for us all this year for spooky (and horny if you so choose)!

Vampire: Pointy teeth, ashen/pale

Werewolf: Human form normal, usually wolf form is big and scary humanoid

Dragon: Usually has a human form with some dragon like aspects if so desired(wings and horns). Or can be totally human with the faint hint like oblong pupils and sharp teef

Incubus/Demon: smol horns and little tail when low level. Big scary horns and long whip like tail when higher level

Merperson/Siren/Oceanid: Dealers Choice if they got the fish tail or are more like the og, which are beautiful human formed nymphs who lure unsuspecting souls to the water

Kitsune: Fox sprites. Known for their mischievous nature and trickery. But they can also be contracted to corrupted souls as a guide/servant of sorts. Usually have fox ears and tail in human form.

Cryptid: idk make them spooky and weird. Mix them with an animal or two into a corrupted form

Oni: big scary ogre monster. One to three horned. Good for size difference stuff.

Dryad/Nymph: human like forest sprites that are tied to nature. Dryad more tied to a certain tree. They’re supposed to be drop dead irresistible and to harm their home would harm them

Fairy: up to you if ur thinking fun sized or not. Some fae/fairy lore has them usually as human like with some odd aura about them and have a trait of some sort. Like dream weaving or influencing the mind

Witch/Wizard: a person of magical abilities

Elf: the sexy kind not the keebler kind. With the long pointy ears and long beautiful lines in their designs.

Chimera of some kind: idk if muse has a second form or some kind of transformation incorporate something spooky or different to monsterfy it.

Free card: request a monster not on the list. So long as they can still communicate in some way.
