a commission i did for NamacoFazbear (on ig/twt/toyhouse) for a deliciously angsty AU of theirs!

the concept is: an alive AU where the boys are best friends that get pulled into the supernatural world when a frankenstein-type mad scientist decides to sow them together "just to see if it's possible"... and only charles survives.

this was SO much fun to work on; namaco gave me a lot of freedom with designing frankencharles ravindra (that's the codename charles uses when he enters the supernatural scene after escaping), and i loved talking about the story with them! the AU toyhouse can be found here. ♥️

i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.

in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. martha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.

But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.

our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1989. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.

anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

I bet Charles has wanted to ruffle Edwins hair for a long time.

I imagine this takes place roughly a month after port townsend when Edwin tries to step out of his comfort zone more, especially after Meeting Crystal and to honor Niko! I think Charles isn't aware of his feelings for Edwin yet.

I'm trying some more comic things to practise for my own project. I originally wanted to post this for payneland week but with only these three panels it didn't quite fit the promt. I loosely traced the background from tonywohlgemuthproductiondesign's photographs. It's inspired by a lovely reblog I got on my pride post saying edwins looks unruffled!

to the followers who haven’t seen me in a while: hey there again!

the past months have been … rough. if you know anything about the US climate, you can imagine why. my mental health is the worst its ever been and more shit just keeps happening. like my car just shit itself and now i have to buy a new one.

with all that, i naturally haven’t written much. HOWEVER i do have a WIP that i will get to finishing at some point. idk when, but it’ll happen.
