walmart proudly supports this strip of land by the street! here are some flowers with wilting leaves. its employees have to pay out-of-pocket for their uniforms. my friend once got fined by the city because she organized a community pick-up of the riverfront, which was technically private property.

no, you cannot afford to take that dance class, neither can i. by the way - i'm a teacher. i'm absolutely not saying "educators shouldn't be paid fairly." i'm saying that when i taught classes, renting a studio went from 20 bucks an hour to 180 in the span of 6 months. no significant changes to the studio were made, except they now list the place as updated and friendly. the heat still doesn't work in the building. i have literally never seen the landlord who ignores my emails. recently they've been renting it out at night as an "unusual nightclub; a once-in-a-lifetime close-knit party." they spent some of those 180 dollars on LEDs and called it renovating. the high heels they invite in have been ruining the marley.

"there's a 30-dollar buy-in fee." i thought he was joking. wait. for what? the group doesn't offer anything except friendship and people with whom to walk around the city.

Richard hadn't thought about where his mood might be when he'd made plans to meet up with Grant for coffee today. Maybe he should have. Thinking about graduation and how he was going to lose what little control over his life he had was not putting him in a good mood. Richard tried cheering himself up some with the reminder that he might get to go for his master's like his mum and now apparently Bess. But it was still depressing. Surprisingly it was Grant who cheered him up. Richard found himself laughing at Grant's list of poetry. Specifically the prince poetry selections. Especially the spicy one. It just reminded him that Grant liked the spicy poetry he'd shared. Including his own. Richard found himself leaning in a touch when Grant's voice was lower before letting out an even louder laugh. by the time Grant got to the promise of amnesty running out he was feeling better. Still not ready to graduate but ready to not think depressing thoughts about it right now. "American poetry," Richard made a noise as if the idea of that was beyond funny despite knowing some good American poets. "What is that? 'Tea is black. Tea is thin. We don't send your tea back. We throw it into the ocean.' Not worth getting kicked out of the country for," Richard told him with a cheeky grin.

"Oh." Running the charity from behind the scenes still didn't sound bad, it was that second part of what Richard said that did not sound exciting. Doing his duty to the crown. What did that even mean? Grant thought about asking. He almost did without thinking about it, but then Richard was mentioning coming back to school in five years or so. Grant wondered if that was what Bess had done. He was still curious what Ricard's duties to the crown were that apparently prevented him from doing anything else, but Richard didn't look like that was something he wanted to elaborate on and frankly it felt sort of heavy for coffee on the quad with a fake best friend. "Hey, in five years they might have classes about even more genres of poetry for you to take. Vampire poetry, goblin poetry, merfolk poetry, angsty prince poetry, spicy prince poetry, maybe even...American poetry?" He lowered his voice at that last one, as if he was talking about something scandalous, then laughed. "No, not that last one, that'd be way too scandalous. And you'd probably get kicked out of the country if they took it, and in five years my mom's second term will be up so I can't even promise to try to get you amnesty."

i have a headcanon that Yoichi trims AFO's hair because i can't help but compare AFO's nicely trimmed hair to Yoichi's and i thought someone had to have cut AFO's hair for him and it is only logical for me to assume it was Yoichi who did. I think AFO would only trust Yoichi to be so close to him with a sharp object like a pair of scissors lol

I think Yoichi would have also liked cutting his brother's hair at first, because it would make him feel helpful in a way? And I just think even when AFO put him in the vault, AFO would still go there to get his hair trimmed by Yoichi.

and once Yoichi joins the resistance, he offers to do this for Kudo as well.

so i wrote a book that comes out soon and having that be real feels like falling down stairs because i wanted this since i was 7 years old so now what do i want after it.

so tell me why today all i care about is the word trundle, that the word trundle exists. of course i have things to do and emails to send and a world of suffering to protect but today my brain won't let me look away from the sheer linguistic improbability of trundle.

i saw a truck doing it. i imagine animals did it first. or people maybe. to trundle comes direct from old english. cows do it on occasion, but more often sheep (in my experience). someone had to name lope and someone had to name slog. the verbs to run and to leap make sense; they are singular and important distinguishers.

but we can bask rather than relax. we can scuttle rather than crawl. sometimes when i move in dance class it is to undulate rather than roll. someone had to name things like sonder and whimsy. of course we had words for tangible things like tree and grass and root. i love those words, i'm eating them.

i don't know the word for this thing. where it's real-now. sometimes i feel it when i am dating someone i actually like-and-love and i realize that is real, i am dating them and it's real that i like-and-love them. sometimes i have this feeling when i have been planning a vacation or an event for weeks-and-months and it finally happens - the feeling this is happening, it's happening right now.

it happens randomly sometimes too. i will be at the carnival or at an ice cream stand or with the last light of summer in my hair and i will feel it again, that sense - i have waited my whole life for this, and im finally experiencing it, and i need to pay attention to it.

but it's real! how amazing! how horribly tragic! it's real. it exists. the moment is here.
