It’s been a couple months but I, as always, got Ideas
So the vast majority of r selected species we see here on Earth are small and focus on being very energy efficient. Makes sense, the whole point of having a bijillon kids is to hope at least a few survive to adulthood. If they require more resources to get to reproductive age less of them will actually get there.
So how does our lovely Goops fit in to this system? Poorly. They’re sapient, which is a massive energy drain, support midochloriens (which is likely a decent energy cost considering otherwise everything would be using them), are likely decently large to be collecting enough energy to support the brain mass needed for sapience, and to make use of higher intelligence to form a civilization (and any species putting enough energy into the brain they reach sapience is gonna lean into that brain) they need longer life spans to be able to gather knowledge to pass on.
So how could they get around all that?
Well for one they aren’t a purely r selected species, those clutch sizes are variable, meaning they likely lean towards smaller clutches barring disasters like plague or Sith, allowing them to put more energy in. In fact I bet those massive clutches don’t make a proper Goop, they probably fill a more prey based niche, just trying to keep the genes alive until they reach stable conditions and form smaller clutches, which can then reach out to nearby settlements to avoid a complete technology and culture reset (though it likely does still make their progress staggered, it’s even possible they weren’t registered as a sapient species at first contact Goop civilizations were almost all tribal at the time).
Now this reset could be avoided by more fantastical means, such as inherited memory’s, force ghosts (giving more reason to their force sensitivity), or just having really good preservation techniques or a general cultural inclination towards uplifting those around them (another pressure for force sensitivity, allowing established civilizations to nab wild variants that would have kids amazing for the population in the coming generations. It would also help with general mental health, which is very important for a species that can implode into a swarm if they feel threatened for long enough)
They could also be similar to lobsters, their goop allowing for easy growth for long periods of time, so even if kids start out dumb as long as they have the conditions needed to support further growth they can eventually reach higher intelligence, a process that is likely kickstarted with smaller clutches allowing for imparting more starting energy. This would allow them to act similarly to the above, filling an r selected niche during their early stages or disasters and a more stable social niche when the environment is able to actually support that kind of thing and an r selected species might send things out of balance.
And lastly that force sensitivity might have been a major part of their niche, allowing them to tap into the force for hunting and making decisions.
So there’s ways for them to be viable as a species, that’s great, but so what? Well now that we have an understanding of how the species might look that would shape how they structure their society, and how the galaxy at large might view that.
See, a highly cooperative species is great on paper and amazing in practice under the right conditions, but it means dissent and selfishness are massive threats and have something discouraging them to the point they’re a negligible concern in the species. Not great soil for the Sith, though if they can get in they’re Set. Problem is the same goes for the Jedi, and if anything the Goop, with their connections to the force, cooperative nature, and close relationship to the environment and keeping it and themselves balanced to avoid civilization collapsing, they’re probably more Jedi than all but the philosophers of the Order. If they didn’t likely already have a million Force based religions they would’ve been a massive source of converts I bet. As it stands I wouldn’t be surprised if they were actually a major influence on modern Jedi philosophy, especially following my idea that Jedi are a key component of terraforming new worlds, and by extension probably colonization as well. And that means they would’ve been some of the first on the planet.
Now weather the galaxy met the Goop at one of their technological heights or during massive planetary pressure causing them to be largely tribe based and larval, the end result is that they get discovered and their connections to the Force make it a massive interest to the Sith and Jedi, though I imagine the two groups are in their infancy at this point if bio weapons are still a feasible technologically and both don’t have the influence to stake a claim on the planet.
Lots of ways for relations to progress, r selected species could be seen as a massive threat in burgeoning galactic society that aren’t past overpopulation issues, they might be discriminated against as a species that hadn’t made their way onto the galactic stage in their own right before being discovered, their non-humanoid forms could be a major disadvantage politically since it wouldn’t match many species ideals for beauty, tainting early impressions. Or it could be more positive, with larger society celebrating the discovery of new species or interest in getting to see an entirely different culture. Either way eventually the Sith find out they aren’t getting in and the Jedi are only getting stronger in the process, and a bunch of Goop people that make a million kids and can turn into a mindless swarm under enough pressure is very easy to make propaganda out of.
In fact I bet that first bioweapon wasn’t even meant to kill, just unbalance their hormones (or equivalent) enough to incite massive larval clutches when the time comes. This would be a massive hit to their society, galactic standing, and up their population density enough that the next batches of viruses would be even more effective.
Now we know that they do in fact escape to some degree, largely remaining hidden away for fear of a repeat (something the Sith are probably more than happy to encourage). This could be done by the Force guiding them, colony ships, or secondary groups like the Jedi or humanitarian organizations finding them secluded corners to hide in. Hell, even the Sith might have done it, trying to get a colony they can influence and develop into something they can use.
OKAY, FIRST? Like the Picture Says...
Tumblr media
So!
Here I was, sittin', thinkin', pondering my thoughts. Thing to myself? "How could one? Presumably female, much like myself, Jedi repopul-" and THAT is when my brain, worn and weary, from years of The Internet? SLAMMED its fucking pint down on the bar counter, turned to me with an ugly scowl and sneered?
"You KNOW fucking how. Don't be coy."
( O.O) w-well alright then, brain. Little aggressive. Kinda wondering where you got the knife. I... I'ma just... go... *pint glass is thrown after me, shattering on the door as it just barely misses*
So! Yeah. Birth, probably. But STILL! That's like? Still ONE(1) fuckin Jedi right? And even IF Mr. "I am literally half midi-chlorians by blood" sired two Force Sensitives on his first go? That's no guarantee EVERYONE does?
Unless..... >.> we are taking into account a Force Sensitive RACE. THEN? Oh, THEN? It's not a matter of IF, but HOW MUCH. Enough to hit that arbitrary cut off point? What if you don't care? What if you say "everybody can be a Jedi"? Want to TRUELY spread the Light. Not just to those who are STRONG enough... but to EVERYONE.
There are a few races like that! But! That STILL? Doesn't solve the Puzzle! The Problem! Of how could One(1) VERY determined Jedi lady, who? Presumably is pretty cool with motherhood. Rebuild The Jedi Order, by NOPING™ out before Order 66.
Again, presumably AFTER taking on the role of Creche Master. And AFTER taking all the youngling on a Super Fun Unplanned Don't Tell The Other Grown Ups Suprise Feild Trip~☆ (yaaaaay!)(who wants snacks! Everybody got their travel bags and buddies? Let's gooooo~☆!)
Cause like? Still need a stable population. And enough Jedi to *obscene gestures multiculturally* at the Sith.
My? Proposal? We turn to the Wisdom of the Monster Fuckers. (Wait wait WAIT! Don't leave! HEAR ME OUT!) I KNOW this sounds like a sex thing! Not a sex thing! It's a "Who said Humanoid Meant Live Birth? Were fucking Aliens, Bro" thing! Just because? Our SI-OC? Was reborn AS a vaguely human shaped sentient?
DOESNT MEAN SHE'S A MAMMAL.
That weird hair color could mark her as some WEIRD, man! Fuck, for all we know she could be a fungus! It's vaguely body horror! You get over it! Adapt to new biology!
Learn?? You lay CLUTCHS. Fuckin EGGS. All baby making is external after the first bit. Something, something, easier to defend against predators. SI-OC doesn't remember that part. There was this high pitched ringing in her head then a thump. She was on the floor. May have fainted. What're you, a cop?
They offer her weird alien birth control.
She takes the birth control.
Learns she is a Rare and Near Extinct Species, a la Master Mundi. Learns it's VERY detrimental to her health to lay clutches. Takes a lot of resources, she can't LEAVE it, so with out a partner or community (or sufficient hoard of food) she WILL starve to death. It HAS happened.
No, seriously, look Mafame Che in the eyes. It HAS happened. And no you CAN'T "push your impulses into the Force". It's a biological imperative. Your body physically won't LET you.
Exactly three options. Babies born, they die, or YOU DIE.
......little intense. Got it. Yes she would like that birth control. She will continue to be both average and forgettable. Pay no attention to the Jedi Creche Master In Training! Oh look! It's kenobi! *yeets fellow jedi under the speeder*
Take some.... research trips >.> <.< >.> which is of course totally not scouting out new Temple locations! To the Wild Zone. Mmmmm, no one for WEEKS by hyperdrive! It's so calm out here!
Only took, like, 278 different planets scouted! To find the right one.
*starts building dwellings.* *starts directing "too old" Force Sensitives or Families that want to stay together and are willing to move, towards the location.*
New secret Jedi planet? Whaaaaat? Nooooooo. That would be illegal. Jedi can't break RULES! Don't be silly. Oh? Is that Skywalker? *same Speeder, new jedi. YEET!*
But WAIT! The War Approachth! D:> upsetting. Better get ready to give that "we totally need to Hide The Babies For War Reasons" presentation she has prepared. But FIRST?
A clutch. Got a transport pod ready to go. Got food stockpiled. Got the birth control out. Now? Just need a male! Too uh... contribute.
.......look, she wants her legion of tiny jedi babies okay? They glow like STARS. Everything is BETTER with them around. And she's kinda come around to this whole... disgusting slime... goo... Thing™. Cause I mean? At LEAST it's not pushing one OUT! ( o7 Padme, you have her respect. But also you are a madwoman.)
The Healers, are of course, FROTHING at the mouth.
YOU DUMB MOTHER FUCKER. They hiss, like healing and very concerned paragons of needle weilding fury. Where the FUCK are you going to just? GET?? A male of you INCREDIBLY RARE AS FUCK Species? You damn near dead and no longer existent species??!? You have DELIBERATELY put yourself in EXTREME medical distress! For WHAT?! Did you HAVE a plan!?
Yeah. :3 I call it Pulling a Yoda's Linage *Yoda ears move from Concern, to Intrigued*
*click*
..........what was that. Jedi SI-OC, What Was That?? *comms start blowing up* What did you just DO?
Oh :3c simple. She asked. It's the only polite thing to DO after all. She DOES need assistance. Surely someone would be willing to offer. If they can. How? You may ask?? Why look so CONCERNED Councilors! She simply assumed, that? Since there is no way of KNOWING where in the Galaxy surviving members of her Race are? And time IS of the essence? She SHOULD reach as wide an audience as she can, as FAST as she can... RIGHT?
>:3c so, of course, she posted her request to the Holonet.
Video and all.
"Grettings, I am Jedi SI-OC. I am an [race] and currently a Creche Master here at the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. I require the assistance of a healthy, willing Male of my species, as I have laid a clutch. And wish to have it fertilized. I would like to have children. We would, of course, discuss co parenting the children before beginning. I have, attached, further details. Thank you for your time. May the Force be with you"
Sexiest shit a LOT of people for egg laying races have seen in years. Well... those with Very Specific Jedi Kinks. Of course, no one ADMITS to jedi kinks. But like... you've thought about it. Don't lie. Everyone's thought about it. It's them and the Mandalorians.*commiserating noises*
But like? The NEWS CYCLE.
Holy SHIT.
Yeah, yeah, tensions and possible succession from the Republic. Sith plots in the background. But? *new casters violently clear their planned segments for THIS* JEDI? Horny on main!? Is THIS ALLOWED? IS this horny? What race is that? C-can other people volunteer? And if so, who? We take to the streets! Sir, what's your opinion on-?
OUTTA MY WAY, I'MMA BANG A JEDI! *frenzied mob like behavior*
*temple guards, unnamused.* back! BACK! Horny jail! For ALL OF YOU!
Just?? It's? So, SO? Important to me? That their are Mandalorian [race] that show up. Because the need to repopulate their people is more important then *scrunch nose* Jedi(ew). That it becomes the Galaxy's hottest Bachelorette show. WHO? Amongst these Fine And Acomplished Men? Will the Jedi CHOOSE? To have babies with! They ask.
And, presumably, marry and learn the power of family and friendship and emotions and be HEALED by LOVE etc etc.
There are shipping charts. It's horrifying. The talk shows LOVE it.
Council? Day drinking. Except for Mundi. He's just like "....but did you HAVE to you they Holonet? It's so MESSY >:/ everyone's in our BUSINESS now." Cause he's not a hypocrite. Grumpy asshole? Absolutely. But not a hypocrite.
Just? The single most "....who?" Jedi ever. Causing the BIGGEST fuss. Right at the worst possible moment, for Sidious. Causing an explosion of glee and hope and laughter etc, all across the Galaxy. Good feeling towards the Jedi. EVERYBODY talking about them. There's gonna be HUNDREDS more!
If she does this AGAIN (in a decade. Madame Che was NOT joking on the stress it puts on the body) there could be thousands new Jedi over the coming years! (Probably why the Sith fuckin wiped them OUT, not that she thinks about it. Fuckers. Who's laughing NOW?! Huh? WHO LAUGHING NOW?!)
Again! Very, unspeakably Ace. Not a sex thing. I just think I'd be funny? That the Forces answer to The Evil Sith plan was... Babies™.
What are we? Fuckin YODA?

Okay, Kuzman wasn't supposed to be a perpetual just so that he could survive the slaughter of the Thunder Warriors. I kinda want all of my OCs to survive to 40k, which is exactly where Kuzman's perpetuality comes into play.
Before that I planned him to stay with the Night Lords, turn to Chaos (though not exactly willingly), just to get turned into a daemon when Thunder Warrior Cancer finally caught up to him, which is how he would survive to the 40k era.
However, I already have, like, 3 Chaos Space Marine OCs and I know more are on their way, so I wanted to do something different with Kuzman, since, he deserves better.
As a perpetual, he stays as a loyalist Night Lord and survives the Heresy, though, not without dying a couple of times. When the Heresy is over and his true, forever master now sits on the Golden Throne, Kuzman doesn't know what to do. The Emperor, as mentioned, now can't move from the Throne. He can't talk to anyone anymore, he can't order, can't rule anymore... By all means, he is dead. Just like the Imperium will be, in due time. Is this it? Is this what Kuzman fought so hard for? Is this why he was revamped into the Thunder Warrior? You're telling him it was all for nothing?
Kuzman isn't happy that the Emperor can no longer hunt him down, can no longer hurt him or use him for his own goals. He should feel relief, but instead, he is overcome with despair and dread.
Kuzman goes into self inflicted exile and, essentially, wanders the galaxy for 10000 years, helping out whenever he can, whoever needs his help. Throughout this, he self reflects on his past actions, or more specifically, the atrocities he committed as both a Thunder Warrior and a "Night Lord". Despite saving countless lives, he refuses to be accepted as a hero, even after thousands of years have passed. There's no forgiving and no redemption for him and no matter how much he tries, he will never wash the blood off his hands.
Today he is fighting side by side with the Blood Angels Chapter against a Chaos cult. Tomorrow he will be cooperating with Biel-Tan Craftsworld to fight off the invasion of Orks. And the next day he will be aiding the T'au Empire against the Tyranids, covering for humans and xenos alike. Not because he is trying to redeem himself. It's simply a right thing to do. It's the least he can do now that his life no longer has a set purpose. Might as well make himself useful somehow!
(I did it guys! An unambiguously morally good Warhammer OC! Yay!)

Something something the way Jod is the Mentor who’s to teach them about the wider galaxy, and in the classic coming of age tale you take children from a sheltered home and teach them that the wider world is a dangerous scary place. Jod DOES fill that role to a t. He tells them forget about home cause you can’t get back. Trust your gut. This is how you survive because the world is a cutthroat place and you have to be quick or you will always be hungry. People are just waiting around to stab you in the back.
And Jod is a LIAR.

have we discussed how like
Ahsoka is alive because she is the physical manifestation of the light side of the force.
But Rex….
he likely survived the trauma of his chip removal surgery when he otherwise wouldn’t have because Ahsoka transferred a bit of the light side of the force within her to save him.
One might say that part of Rex is the light side of the force too. That he survives as long as he does because it is the will of the force.

Honestly I think the Kenobi show should’ve just. Been about Reva. She was the strongest part of the show, and I think that the narrative would’ve been a lot better if we got her full back story and perspective. Obi-Wan could’ve still been there, but Reva really should’ve been the main character

today's star wars fic research itinerary:
scrounging through archive.org'd old starwars.com blogs and the magnificent source of once upon a galaxy's own archive of old hyperspace articles so i don't tear my hair out over d!canon's 'yeah so the huk war totally happened but we're just glossing over it for now' (the hyperspace articles are amazing, the whole despotica is there and i love it because it's a fucking fictional literature anthology that has the gffa equivalent of greek tragedy).
reading up on the vancouver principles, the un's commitments for protecting children during peacekeeping & preventing child soldiers because the whole 'yes we're sending you a fourteen year old to help command armies' is something the clone wars really glossed over and is definitely going on the 'ways to ruin palpatine's reputation' brainstorming chart.
on that note: the preservation management handbook because, yes, i need to re-learn cultural preservation & management bits. this temple is a millennium old and has bits that are probably thousands and thousands of years older, given that it's build over many older shrines and religious sites (not just counting the sith shrine). i could leave in the paragraph-long bit about knossos i just deleted, but i'll just put the link to the post where i rambled on about conservation from last year, just after that visit.
looking at the revenge of the sith opening scroll from so i can use the exact language grievous is referred to with in my fic because sometimes the force is enabling the cheat codes. yes there will be a '... grievously pressed by their fiendish leader ...' somewhere in here.

Fox led the Corries and suffered the consequences (in fanon or canon) because if not him then some other brother would have to suffer his fate. And he could not let that happen.
Fox could handle being seen as a watchdog for Palpatine, as the strong arm of the law of a government that is failing its people, as the enforcers of principles that he and all his brothers were often excluded from…because doing his duty meant protecting another clone from serving in his place beside the worst person in the universe.
Everything Fox did was to ensure his brothers had a better chance at survival than he did.
I think about fox and the corries a lot. Something that always strikes me as strange is when people hate him and want him dead.
We see fox for around 4 minutes 30 TOTAL in the show but there are a few things that really stand out to me and something that happens in the comics.
Fox doesn't bend to Anakin at the start until Anakin straight up pulls rank. Should Anakin have gotten in? No. Was he angry and an active threat to Fox's men? Probably. So Fox folds there and lets him in.
When Ahsoka "breaks out" Fox goes for the non-lethal option until she "kills" some clones at which point Anakin has to command Fox and his men not to use lethal force.
It's completely reactionary and with the speed and minimal protest Fox gives it's almost strange. Fox is scared of something but he cares greatly for his brothers.
So the question becomes: what is Fox so scared of?
He was willing to stand up to Anakin as a random commander but not as a Jedi. Does Fox know what damage can be dealt by a lightsaber? Does he think that all force users will kill as they please?
With that fear and that care in mind I ask you to take a look at Fives' death. Fox and company got there when Fives was begging. The were too late to hear the explanation but they heard him plead to be understood.
And what does Fox do?
He stops behind crates for a second when Fives doesn't even know he's there, he asks Fives to not fight back, he does not fire the first shot. He asks Fives more than once to surrender. Fives knew he was dead either way but there was no way for Fox to know that.
Or maybe he did and had a plan.
In the comic we can see the Corries march on the temple and some of them shoot at Vader thinking him to be a Jedi.
Fox pleads their ignorance, Fox pleads for them not to be punished for a mistake they did not make, Fox dies asking leniency for his men.
These are not the actions of a proud man who believes in his cause.
These are the actions of a man who has nothing left and no other actions he can take trying to keep his family alive at any cost but knowing he will never manage it anyway.
So, yeah. I don't understand the hatred for Fox but if you want to tell my your view I will listen anyway

Imagine being Boothill’s sweetheart before everything went up in flames… he didn’t think you survived, but you did somehow, and you managed to get away from the terror and the flames. And he meets you again, in some far corner of the galaxy.
He’s a galaxy ranger now, with a body made of metal and a core where his heart should be. But he still feels something click when he looks at you, even from the corner of his eye. He doesn't believe what he's seeing at first— he thinks that it must be some bug in his system. Some trick of the light. But despite his doubts he feels his feet move from under him, walking first, then running, until he's pushing other people out of the way and damn near sprinting to get to you before you disappear.
And oh, when he manages to reach you— manages to stop you with a hand on your shoulder, he almost can't believe his eyes. He takes his hat off and presses it to his chest, the same way he had done when he asked for your hand a lifetime ago.
If he could cry, he thinks, he’d be a blubbering mess.
Because it is you. Because he'd recognize the curve of your cupid's bow and the shine in your eyes even from across a cosmos. Because you're here, against all odds and despite every nightmare he's had. You're here, and you're just as lovely as the day he lost you.

Field Trip-DCxDP prompt
(Another Danny the Cosmic Babysitter pompt)
Danny had little patience for the adult heroes with a handful of exceptions. That is most of the heroes are fine but Danny likes to complain because he isn't called to be on missions often.
Instead, he often gets calls on Friday nights to watch Superboy and that means Robin comes too.
Danny is their favorite babysitter and the only people Danny doesn't complain about. He treats the boys with as much care as he does his little sister but he is also pretty negligent. If the boys were unharmed and not traumatized then he lets them do whatever they want. Much to their father's concern.
The boys were dropped off at Danny's portal after school with their bags and Clark gave Danny one of his mother's cheese apple pies and a batch of Alfred's cookies.
Clark wished them luck and reminded them to do their homework and to be respectful to Danny.
Bruce called and reminded Danny to....blah blah blah. Danny wasn't listening he was a busy god.
Danny instead took the boys on a field trip when Jon asked for help on his science homework.
Danny took them to his observatory and showed them just a fraction of the infinite cosmos. The observatory was a place he made to monitor the realms, tracking the path of stars and galaxies, and the life on planets.
"So how does life form on different planets?" Jon asked staring into the rainbow-colored galaxy twisting around them.
"Let's go see!" Danny opened a portal to a far-off desolate world under a purple sun making sure to put a protective barrier on the boys so they would survive the environment.
"Are suns supposed to be that color?" Damian asked.
"They can be any color," Danny said reassuring "Large amounts of potassium salts cause the star to look this way."
The boys looked around on this planet hoping to see new aliens. But there were none. Danny laughed at their puzzled expressions.
"This planet has no life on it. In 5 billion years the right conditions will be met to form organic life when this star burns enough of the potassium around it. Frozen ice in asteroids will hit this planet and water will form and the heat will create an atmosphere. Organisms will form and die and for a brief moment, this world will have life." Danny explained laying out the beginning of life.
"What? So they won't live? Why not?" Jon asked in distress of the idea.
"Haha, don't worry. That's how it's supposed to be. Life is a miraculous thing and the beings that will one day grow here are one of the billions of planets that share the same fate. They will never gain sentience of course but they will live and living in a universe so fickle and absurd is a testament. Think of just how amazingly it is to live on earth." Danny said taking the boys into another portal to a world populated by beasts.
Alien beasts that walked on four legs and birds flew.
Damian marveled at the giant birds that dwarfed any on Earth.
"This is a super planet with enough oxygen to support 50 Earths. Full of life and animals who have evolved from the small bacteria that would have died like on the planet before had the environment been different. Life is a roulette wheel though and even the same environment could yield different results." Danny said as they stood on the grassy clift.
"There really are no people?" Damian asked.
"No, and there never will be. You two are the only people who will ever reach this planet. This world will never know society. No government. No civilization." Danny hummed in thought.
"That's a good thing." Damian said.
"Is it? Maybe. Even a lowly beast still looks up at the sky and dreams of a better existence. But here this world will never know a truly peaceful life. It will always be predator and prey. Survival is all they know. No, they will mostly live short lives knowing only fear and violence. They will not know art or music, things gained from learning and sharing. They have not reached that part of development and they never will know. An ice age will soon come when their planet loses its orbit and they will all die." Danny said as he ushered the boys to another world.
Jon and Damian when silent in despair. Learning the benign cruelty of the universe was harder when you had to see it.
The next was a world that was a smoking wreckage.
"This world was once populated with billions. The people had evolved from the smallest life forms, surpassed their beastly heritage, and grew into tribes. They built cities and hubs. But they also built weapons. The truth is boys that the progress of a species hinges on the ability to evolve and the greatest driving force is competition. The greatest opponent is yourself. These people chose to give in to that call and they suffered for it. Some turned towards the stars and had long fled to start a new life on another planet." Danny said soberly.
Damian and Jon looked at the space god and noticed he suddenly didn't look like his usual self. He was slightly weathered and creased at the edges.
Danny opened another portal to another world. A city full of lights where below them.
"This boys is a planet of strange aliens. They dream constantly of a better life but don't know how to achieve it. They work together and they break apart, always arguing. But time and time again they come together to prove they care for one another. True there will be those who work against this collective and care only for themselves. Take pity on them, they have succumbed to their instincts from when they were just simple beasts trying to survive. If they can one day look up and see that all they have in this lonely universe where life can be blinked out of existence if the tide shifts differently then they'd truly become a better species. Boys you must understand that your existence is nothing short of a miracle upon miracle. We are all made from stardust and it is next to impossible that you exist at this moment but despite all odds you are here." Danny said as he flew over the city carrying the boys.
As Damian and Jon looked down they recognized landmarks this was earth.
"Will the same thing happen to us as that other planet?" Jon asked.
"I don't know. You mortals tend to surprise us. I can probably predict a billion futures and still be wrong. I'll have to ask the time god. Still, there is no telling what I do know is that the future will have you two and that tells me that it's going to be okay.

Jod Na Nawood’s backstory is FASCINATING!! And makes SO much sense!!! Order 66 fucked up SO much in the galaxy, it’s so interesting (and tragic) to see what it’s done to the force sensitive children who were unable to be taken into the Temple. It truly supports how GOOD the Jedi Order is. How good the JEDI are. I can’t even fully comprehend everything the galaxy lost and suffered without them. And- Jod’s master. She didn’t have to take him in. He knew that. He knows she was desperate. But she took him in anyway and taught him what she could. We only get a very tiny glimpse of that backstory but it’s utterly gut-wrenching.
Imagine the survivor of a genocide. A Jedi on the run, desperate and hungry and grieving, running into a little kid just as lost as her and seeing that LIFE in him. Feeling the FORCE in him. What would that have done to her after feeling everyone she knew and loved ripped away from her. But here is this kid and he needs help and maybe she does, too. Maybe they can help each other. And so she folds him under her wing just as any Jedi would have done. She teaches him the ways of her people, knowing that their way of life lives on in her and that she is passing it on to a new generation. And that probably hurt. It probably hurt SO much. Because she can’t give him what she could have if the Order was still alive. And he’ll never understand what it means to be part of something so beautiful and long-lasting. But she does what she can, and they maybe never would have met if Order 66 didn’t happen. And it’s an awful thought, the worst kind of thought, but she can’t help but be relieved they found each other. Because she loves this lost little kid and maybe they’re broken together, but they’re more whole together, too. And maybe without Jod she could have run and hid forever. Maybe she couldn’t have, plenty Jedi were caught and murdered. But she knew the risk and she took it- and the way Jod talks about it (“they made me watch”) makes me think that he feels he’s responsible for her getting caught. And it makes me wonder how she felt when she was caught. Knowing she was one of the last of her kind, and that this kid was going to be alone again. Orphaned in a completely new, terrible way.
And I wonder, too, if looking after the kids reminded Jod of his old Jedi Master. And maybe he thought “I can’t get attached because then they’ll catch me too and I’ll die just like her.” And you know what, Jod? It did happen that way. You got caught because of those kids. But only because you forgot what it means to be a Jedi, which is to say that after your Master died you tore out that softness within you. Abandoned love for fear. Exchanged generosity for greed. And it’s true grief and trauma changes people. That a little kid alone in the galaxy does what they can to survive. But Jod isn’t a little kid anymore and it doesn’t excuse the choices you make. It’s a wretched world, one without a Jedi, and Jod suffered all the more for it.
And I wonder, too, what Jod thought when Wim paused in the elevator. When that little kid called out to him, despite everything Jod had done to him. Did Jod look at Wim and think: “Yeah, that’s what a Jedi would be” and then hate himself all the more for it? Well, who can tell. Jod is a fascinating character and I’m excited to see where the show next takes us.

Note
idea: on the other side of things, satine and jango also time traveled! they're both subtly trying to destroy death watch (satine is unraveling maul's end of The Sith Plot, and jango is dealing with dooku's part) without realizing the other is a time traveler. they have very different ideas of how to go about doing so.
at some point before they have the Time Traveler Discussion, mace and obi wan go on the mission protecting satine from death watch. jango shows up hunting death watch. cue all four of them attempting to hide the fact that they're all time traveling.
many years later, obi wan has the idea to go check on kamino/deal with dooku. upon arrival, he and the rest of the time jedi discover jango ran away with a bunch of his favorite alphas (because hey, free army!) and started another war. they go searching for jango around mandalore and instead find that the kryze sisters are temporarily allied for maul-killing purposes. jango (with boba in tow) keeps getting in everyone's way while attempting to rescue arla from the nite owls. bo katan keeps trying to kill him.
for extra fun, maul is also time traveling. he, too, knows most of The Sith Plan, and is also attempting revenge against palpatine & grievous, this time with an alive talzin, savage, and feral.
mace has a massive shatterpoint migraine. palpatine has a Bad Feeling About This.
📓 👀
(for the daydream plot ask meme) TIMETRAVEL, BUT MAKE IT COMPLICATED. Ok, so. Several council members are yeeted back in time at the moment of their deaths, mentally — ie. die, and then wake up back in the past, not body doubles or anything. Mace, Plo Shaak and Kit, all of whom wake up in the halls of healing and proceed to Freak Out very quietly, because, like, what the fuck but also oh my god the sith. They work out that the others are also time travelers, and then proceed to conspiracy theory very quietly attempt to fix, y'know, the whole sith plot attempting to genocide them out of existence.
Mace survived longest — I refuse to believe he died when he got shoved out the window, he was kicking about in the rebellion era for a little while with a cybernetic hand and is very thankful and a little weirded out to have both hands back now — so he's kind of their point man, when it comes to 'oh we need to fix that too, turns out it was part of The Sith Plot.'
This is complicated, somewhat, by the fact that Mace just took Obi-wan on as a padawan. He didn't mean to! he fucked up!! he's not sure what they did but Qui-gon — instead of taking obi-wan as his padawan, as they're all pretty sure happened in the original timeline — was wildly cruel to initiate kenobi, basically accused him of being half a second from a fall, and then made him cry. Which: yikes what the fuck how did they screw up the timeline that bad.
None of them really knew obi-wan until he was, y'know, Adult; prior to that he was qui-gon's padawan, and also, it was like fourty fucking years ago for them. They collectively remember…uh, obi-wan had some fucked missions as a padawan? maybe he went to agricorps on a mission? no one is quite sure, because, like, it was a weird thing that mostly resolved itself, whatever the fuck it was. He grows up to be Obi-wan Kenobi, though, so it's not like they could let him go to the fucking agricorps. Best case, general kenobi doesn't exist and the war goes badly — if they can't prevent the war —, worst case, general kenobi does exist, but like. evil.
Unbeknownst to them, obi-wan was also shot back in time at the moment of his death. And then, because that boy has never met a problem he didn't attempt to solve all on his own, decided he was just going to fake his death and go into the galaxy to, y'know, deal with the sith plot all on his own. He's been alone for twenty fucking years after the genocide of his people. He can handle being alone but knowing they're alive.
He's not about to raise suspicions, though, so he accepts when mace offers to be his master instead of what happened the first time around, with bandomeer and the suicide offer etc — he feels a little bad, because he's 100% going to fake his death at the first opportunity, bc, y'know, sith plot to end, but mace is a busy man who's on the fucking council, probably he's not even going to mind too much, really. Qui-gon certainly wouldn't have.
Thus ensues two sets of time travelers being like who the fuck is doing that as team council and obi-wan make changes to the sith plot. Mace would be tearing his hair out if he had hair; not only is the butterfly effect apparently way more complicated than logically makes sense — they fucked up the death stick trade on ryloth, and now somehow three outer rim planets are in revolt???? (it was obi-wan) — but also his new padawan keeps nearly getting killed.
Obi-wan, on the other hand, is losing his damn mind. On the one hand, goddamn, mace is the absolute bastion of kindness and steadfastness and everything he always was! he didn't know that mace and shaak and plo and kit were friends, but it's so nice to see them, and he missed them, and for all his appointment to the council was kind of tainted by the war it was a community of friends who he missed dearly.
On the other hand, please, he is trying to fake his death. Please be less attentive. Please stop rescuing him from seemingly deadly situations. He's fine he just needs to be a little fake dead, and also stop the sith, and also not let anyone realise that he is a sixty year old in a thirteen year old's body.
#star wars#reblogs#time travel au#shaak ti#jedi#mandalorians#dooku hired jango bc he regularly uncovers massive government conspiracies on high profile jobs and is consistently like#'not my circus not my monkeylizards ¯\_(ツ)_/¯'#except in the time travel he now knows that dookus plot leads to his death. so all bets are off#on satines side of stuff#she knows about pre vizsla/death watch/maul/etc#and is attempting to deal with them in a way that does not end in the destruction of mandalore#sometimes her goals align w jangos re: Deposing The Vizslas#sometimes she has to deal with *two* different factions of mandos fighting over sundari#also korkie has been informed about The Sith Plan since he was pretty good at that sort of stuff in the previous/canon version of events#however! neither of them survived the war so therefore have no idea about the long term bits of The Sith Plan#and so keep messing up mace and obi wans plans#with their particular brands of Mandalorian Chaos#by the time they reach geonosis they have an incredibly scrambled galaxy#featuring: a smaller clone army (jango ran away after getting boba)#a bunch of jedi all suspiciously well trained for fighting droids; military tactics; and battlefield force-healing#another bunch of jedi suspiciously well prepared for fighting sith (and also standing around outside palpatine's front door)#a vaguely reformed haat mandoade waging war on death watch and also sending assassins after dooku#the nite owls waging war on the main branch of death watch and also maul#dathomir fully armed for war (complete with war-rancors) and maul preparing an invasion of coruscant#and a bewildered palpatine

Okay, you know how bird don't ACTUALLY look the way we think they do?
They are far more colorful? But only to the eyes of other birds?
And it has to do with how light reflects off them and how their eyes are shaped etc etc.?
Well..... humans can see the most shades of green, right? But! We sure as shit can't see UltaViolet and InfraRed? Or shades BEYOND those. Ectoplasmic colors. Magical ones. Third eye, need to see with your SOUL type ones.
Danny? Could very well still have lil baby "kitten's eyes who haven't open yet" syndrome.
He thinks the Zone is Green and his hair is white.
But it's not.
His hair is Starlight colored. Frost. His suit is specifically "the void between stars" colored. Which looks... different? Then black? No, no, guys. How can you guys not see it? It looks REALLY different! How did he not NOTICE before?! They're not ever CLOSE to the same shade! It's like calling salmon and hot pink the same. You know... if you were to compare an actual fish and some irradiated, violently glowing version of "hot pink".
......guys?
His gloves are.... guys, these ares stars. Pressed so close together there's no gap. His body is the night sky, all rearranged. He's wearing SPACE, guys.
*continues to stare at his gloves for the next five hours*
Now... why is this relevant? Because! Danny slowly, as all humans do, adjusts! It's like finally having glasses after years of blurry vision. He... forgets, what it was like, not NOT See Zone Colors. Not completely, mind you, but enough he has to be reminded.
And the Zone? A Realm of the Dead. Specifically, the great catch-all and highway of the Dead. They get EVERYBODY. Misfits and vagabonds. Those who don't quite fit. Funky lil dudes. And of course, assholes, but everybody has those! See, Zone colors?
Are DIFFERENT.
They're all of um!
It's like looking at the technicolor, stobe light, multi galaxies in one, Sun. Tingly(tm)!!! You get used to it. What helps? Is that as garish as the Zone is? The painting and grand tapestry of it all? Keeps changing. Like weather. If it's too much for you, you can stay inside your Lair until the current Color changes. Until the designs shift. Vibe changes.
There are even glasses for that! "Temperate" areas for people to set up, that get headaches or are just... kinda killjoys. Too each their own. Though the stormy areas? Those guys are freaks. Watch out for those guys. They're the kind who stare directly are stars until their eyes burn out.
Where was I? Oh yeah! Danny!
No longer a wee baby, smol baby, twig-o!
Sad. We miss it.
But he did get used to Seeing The Colors. Got a handle on his powers. And! Finally worked with his parents on how to safely turn the portal OFF. There was much booing. Cries of "kill joy" and "booo! You suck!". But? Like? Dude DID have the right to protect his home. Go to college. What can you do?
Problem with THAT is? Baby grew into his "built like a brick shit house of constantly running off to literally tackle the Supernatural excellence" Fenton genetics. He Tall. Muscles! And he PUMPING out "somethings fucked up with me" Vibes!
Add in his DEEPLY Sus off hand comments. Weird ability to tell when someone has or is about to die. Basic immunity to the cold. Fuckin EYE GLOW?
Ha ha... *Horror movie screams from his college dorm mates*
Clearly a demon!
He gets kicked out. Well... not kicked out. He's a model student and broken no rules. They'd never survive the lawsuit. But... he's? STRONGLY INCOURAGED to finish his education elsewhere. Repeatedly. By like... 15 colleges.
Sam is not just livid, she's actively foaming at the mouth.
Breathe, Sam! Remember what your doctor said! Your mortal body can't handle that kinda Vengance spiral! Think of your blood pressure! Breathe!!! (Were not for the laws of this land... and the weak, fleshy constraints of her mortal form!)
Thankfully? Tucker's been interning, remotely of course, with Wayne Industries. He asked his manager where he could find some of those scholarship forms. (Since Gotham University is just a touch out of Danny's price range.) Manager wanted to know why. And oh! Oh holy shit. Apparently? Danny is the hot new office gossip.
People in the main office are OUTRAGED. Danny's "too spooky"?! Too FUCKIN SPOOKY!? Are you KIDDING THEM? Even juicier, a Meta kid from some wacky ghost hunters turned scientists. From a line of Supernatural hunters. Wants to be a aeronautics engineer.
Ooooooh how SPOOKY! Better watch out! He'll design an ENGINE at yooooou!
Fuckin casuals. Non-Gothamites are WEAK. "Too scary" their collective asses. Yeah, maybe the kid SHOULD come too Gotham. He can be the weird kid. Mildly unsettling or something. His powers won't be SHIT in Gotham. Just remind him to buy a gas mask.
So! Danny gets his Scholarship! Merrily packs his bags for darker, Gothic hellscape hills. Unaware... that Constantine has been following reports of a "demon" that he's? 80% sure is a Banshee but MIGHT be a winter spirt with a shtick? For the past 13 colleges. He's getting closer. And this sucker is a strong one.
Not "this is going to cause me serious, life imperilling danger" strong. But more? "Man, that cat is HUUUUUGE". Could he still get mauled a lil? Yeah. Scratched to all hell and back? Probably! But DIE? Unlikely.
He just needs to know why the FUCK this spirit his hanging around colleges.
Which is made harder... by the fact that what HE sees? And what OTHER people see? When they look at this guy? Separate things. Yeah, he'd LOVE to give you guys a description! IF HE HAD ONE.

Star Wars Time Travel Rec List
About time I put together a General Rec List for Star Wars Time Travel, yeah?
Organized by the time-traveling character(s). I'm adding a star for my favorites that imo you have to read. I'm not going to claim that those are necessarily the best, because I feel like that's not objective and also kinda mean to the ones that are good since they might just not be to my personal taste, but they are my favorites.
Obi-Wan
Anakin Skywalker
Ahsoka
Clones
Other Prequels-Era Characters
Two or more people
Luke or Leia
Other
Tagged authors where I could. If they aren't tagged, I either couldn't find their tumblr, they have their settings such that no one can tag them, or they blocked me for one reason or another.
Obi-Wan
It Was Another Time and I Another Man by Pell_Binterhol - under "Groups"
Ashes To Ashes, Dust To Dust by @livsy ~35k+, complete Obi-Wan is a time traveler, mental from the OT. What makes it unique is that the fic is from Anakin's POV. It's a very heartwarming piece.
⭐Take it from the top and try again by @mauverawrites ~170k, series - two fics complete, more on the way Possibly the best way to describe this series is as the platonic ideal of an Obi-Wan time travel fic. Weird Force stuff? Check. Obi-Wan having spent years on Tatooine? Check. Qui-Gon surviving? Check. Obi-Wan doing some shady illegal stuff to get money and infiltrate crime rings so he can save the galaxy? Check. Anakin being adorable as an initiate, and Shmi being saved from Tatooine? Check. Surprise Feemor? Check. It's all the bits you (or at least I) hope for when opening a new Obi-Wan Time Travel fic, and it never feels stale or repetitive or cliche. It's just a Very Good Fic.
The Exchange by @misslearn - under "Groups"
An Abundance of Obi-Wans by The_Last_Kenobi (orphan_account) ~45k, abandoned Unfortunately we'll never know how this ends, but it's a lot of fun while it lasts. Baby Obi is being haunted by three ghosts of his future self.
A Padawan at War (Again) by @itstimeforstarwars - under "Groups"
Free Jedi to Good Home by @itstimeforstarwars- under "Groups"
These Paths by HiddenEye - under "Groups"
⭐the massive machinery of hope by @killbothtwins 150k, complete Do you want comedy? Yes, you do. This one is great. Go read it. It's one of my favorites for a reason, and the reason is that Obi-Wan is a sarcastic little shit with a billion quips.
Living Memory by elsa3beth 353k, on hiatus, possibly abandoned? Obi-Wan Time Travel, leans a bit more heavily into the distrust and despair surrounding Anakin (due to Vader things from the future) than most.
⭐The Desert Storm/Rise and Fall by @blue-sunshine-mauve-morning ~1.6m (1592k), ongoing This is one of the longest, most consistent, best-regarded time-travel fics in the fandom for a reason.
⭐Reprise by Elfpen ~560k, ongoing Another Obi-Wan time-travel fic, this one using that favored cover story of "Ben is Obi-Wan's biological uncle," and I love it so much for how it explores both characters and political events.
Realign the Stars by @fortunerainwrites, @TerinAngel - under "Groups"
Current of Fate by @feybarn ~195k, on hiatus? It's been so long since I read this one that I can't quite remember what it was that I liked about it so much, and it's too long to do a reread right now... but I do remember loving it, especially when it switches to an outsider POV for the second fic.
Anakin Skywalker
The Exchange by @misslearn - under "Groups"
A Padawan at War (Again) by @itstimeforstarwars - under "Groups"
Free Jedi to Good Home by @itstimeforstarwars - under "Groups"
War Drums by @intermundia ~91k, ongoing Vader travels back to TPM. Runs off with Obi-Wan into the stars to Achieve Some Goals to take down Sidious. Gets quick-aged to 19 by some Dathomiri magic. Projected to be Obikin.
These Paths by HiddenEye - under "Groups"
Old Promises by @threebea ~65k, ongoing Time Traveler Anakin panic-kidnaps Initiate Kenobi. Absolute disaster of a man.
An (Un)fortunate Haunting by @kooriicolada, @scarletjedi 3.5k, oneshot Anakin thinks the Vader ghost haunting him is a hallucination. This one is technically more than just Anakin, but it's... mostly Anakin.
⭐Force of Many Sights by DAsObiQuiet ~480k, on hiatus? Vader to TPM, possessing his younger self. This fic has a heavy, and much-appreciated focus on therapy as it functions for someone of Vader's... particular situation. This is also technically a "Groups" series, since it's also got Siri Tachi as a time-traveler, but her POV is much smaller, and it takes... I want to say about 100k words for her to really start playing a more active role in the plot.
Realign the Stars by @fortunerainwrites, @TerinAngel - under "Groups"
Ahsoka
I don't know why all the good Ahsoka time travel fics are her as part of a team, but they do in fact fuck, so. I LIED I forgot to bookmark one of the Ahsoka fics I like.
Free Jedi to Good Home by @itstimeforstarwars - under "Groups"
These Paths by HiddenEye - under "Groups"
Realign the Stars by @fortunerainwrites, @TerinAngel - under "Groups"
Living in Borrowed Time by @scribbling-albatross - under "groups"
⭐Although He Smiles by @autumnillustration - ~157.6k, ongoing This one is amazing, it's an Ahsoka main, and she is very funny with Padawan Obi-Wan and adorable with 9yo Anakin. Lovely.
Clones
love is with your brother by Petrichor (Mythmaker) ~8k, complete TCW Rex bodyswaps with his baby self. POV is Ahsoka during the clone wars.
Free Jedi to Good Home by @itstimeforstarwars - under "Groups"
These Paths by HiddenEye - Rex and Cody - under "Groups"
Realign the Stars by @fortunerainwrites, @TerinAngel - Rex and Cody - under "Groups"
Living in Borrowed Time by @scribbling-albatross - Rex - Under "Groups"
⭐Dominoes by meridianpony ~380k, ongoing All five Dominoes go back to the beginning, from the points of their deaths! (Disclaimer: Echo's treated as having died at the Citadel. I think the fic started before his survival was revealed.) Technically this is a group, but all five are clones, so...
Other Prequels-Era Characters
there is no death by @ashkav ~140k, ongoing There is something really cool about Cal Kestis time travel fics, especially when he's got a decent amount of knowledge of The General Situations (e.g. Anakin will become Vader) but is missing so many details, like Why and How.
⭐An Echo in the Force (a whisper in a cave by @stardust2flame ~8k, complete Feemor is trapped in a time loop. This was actually written as a gift to me, so it has a special place in my heart.
⭐Mace Windu Fixes the Timeline... And Breaks it in Whole New Ways by AbsentmindedAuthor98 ~52k, ongoing Absolutely choice series based on an AU by @suzukiblu. Mace Windu does some time-traveling. He takes on Anakin as his padawan on an impulse, but he ends up doing his damnedest to be a Good Master for the kid. Depa helps.
Twilight on Owl Creek Bridge by @yellowocaballero - Fox - under "Groups"
Make a Brand New End by @batshieroglyphics ~120k, I think on hiatus Another Feemor fic! This one's not time-loop, just time travel. Lots of juicy Qui-Gon drama.
⭐Not a Good Man by @feybarn ~28k, ongoing Imperial era Boba Fett goes back to AotC. He decides to fix things, partly by trying to get his dad to fall in love with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
a distant fire is burning by e_va ~47.5k, ongoing This is another Cal fic! It's got video game logic in it. Also, Anakin and Cal are both being so weird about sort of being adoptive brothers, it's great.
⭐They Don't Care About Us by @ironhoshi Time traveler Boba! And Cal! They're doing great, sweetie. Their best. Obi-Wan and Jango are mostly just confused. (Has anyone checked on Anakin? Someone needs to go check on Anakin. Again.)
Groups
It Was Another Time and I Another Man by Pell_Binterhol ~200k, incomplete This is a very fun fic that involves multiple time-travelers from multiple points in time. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon from the Legends novels are pulled forward into TCW, and Old Ben and Luke are pulled back from the OT, and some spoilers as well.
⭐The Exchange by @misslearn ~120k, complete A swapping-style time travel. RotS Anakin&Obi-Wan end up in TPM, and TPM Anakin&Obi-Wan end up in RotS. Shenanigans ensue. (Also trauma.)
⭐Can We Start Over? by @triscribe ~22k, ongoing Most of the Jedi have time-traveled from the points of their deaths to about a year pre-AotC. Some handle it better than others. The POV is Aayla, which I find very cool.
A Padawan at War (Again) by @itstimeforstarwars ~183k, ongoing It's technically more of a de-aging than a time-travel, but hey! Still a good read! TPM Anakin and Obi-Wan take the place of their TCW selves, who no longer exist.
⭐Free Jedi to Good Home by @itstimeforstarwars ~complicated as the second fic has been hidden, ongoing This is one of my favorite series, but as you can see by the above, it's in a bit of a timeout right now. Bookmark it for later? Also, there's an entire side series called Inspired By One Hundred Hours To Rearrange The Stars.
These Paths by HiddenEye ~90k, complete Our five TCW mains (Obi-Wan, Cody, Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex) are booted forward to the Original Trilogy. The latter three are deaged to their TPM ages (9, 4, baby respectively). Also it's CodyWan.
Twilight on Owl Creek Bridge by @yellowocaballero ~33k, complete Leia and Fox time travel! This one is very dark. That said, it has a comedic counterpart that I love, which is only available on tumblr: ⭐Fox & Leia's Holiday Special
⭐Realign the Stars by @fortunerainwrites, @TerinAngel ~68k, abandoned Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, and Cody, from TCW to TPM. Despite the unfinished state, I cannot deny the oddly intense level of influence this fic has had on my own approach to star wars time travel fics.
⭐Living in Borrowed Time by @scribbling-albatross 118k, ongoing Rex and Ahsoka are time-travelers! They are so, so very fucked up. Sure do wish they had access to therapists that could actually be cleared for knowing their Extensive Lists Of Traumas. This one definitely had a huge impact on how I characterize Rex and Ahsoka since I entered the fandom.
Luke and Leia
Twilight on Owl Creek Bridge by @yellowocaballero - Leia - under "Groups"
There is another Skywalker by WabiSabi ~85k, on hiatus? Time-Traveler Leia! Mentally in the sequels, physically in her thirties, and chronologically in the clone wars. Also Luke's sharing space in her noggin.
Shifting Sands by @chancecraz ~180k, ongoing "Ongoing? But it hasn't updated since 2021!" The last time it updated, the chapter was 65k, after over two years of radio silence. Trust me when I say that the lack of recent updates means nothing for this author. Anyway, Sequels Leia to about a year pre-TPM, hangs out with baby Anakin and Shmi and then neatly inserts herself in the plot.
⭐Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns by @chancecraz ~860k, ongoing Same author as above, same disclaimer for the gap since last update. Sequels Leia does a mental time-travel into her ANH self, specifically the 'being tortured on the Death Star' moment. It's so fucking good.
Old Man Luke by @scarletjedi ~110k, ongoing Sequels Luke to TCW! He is very cryptic, channeling the Jedi who taught him! Fun!
⭐Sith Lord Swell by AMournfulHowlInTheNight ~53k, ongoing Luke and his students (including Ben Solo) travel back in time to a bit before AotC. They decide the best way to proceed is to pretend they are Sith Lords. This is primarily a comedy fic. Luke really enjoys fucking with people.
⭐Don't Look Back by @this-acuteneurosis ~700k, ongoing Post-OT Leia (after the deaths of most of her friends) physically time travels to a year or two before AotC. She is taken in by the Lars family, and then she and Shmi start to head for Coruscant, run into Padme, and join the Nabooan government in Padme's employ. Do you want a fic that feels like 70% politics and logistics and trade routes? Because that's what this is and it's great.
Other
The Way of Conquest by pagination ~76k, ongoing There is something very funny about the time-traveler not even realizing they are about thirty years into the wrong time. Din has no idea when he is. Grogu does, but he's not telling.

If you were a sci-fi writer, how would you solve the Fermi paradox? That being the discrepancy between evidence for alien life, versus the likelihood of their existence? (basically. If alien so likely, why we not see?) The Dead Space series has an amazing cosmic horror solution, but i'm curious what you're brain could come up with!
There's a lot of possibilities, some more interesting than others.
The speed of light and the distance between inhabited stars makes it prohibitively slow to detect, make contact with, or reach any star with alien life. It doesn't matter if we're not alone, our corner of Space Reachable Within A Human Lifetime is so comparatively small that we may as well be. We're all blindly wandering through an infinite desert, calling into the void. Space exploration is a long game, and on that timescale, even whole civilizations blink out very quickly. If we manage to catch a signal and follow it, we might find nothing on the other end but ruins - or an asteroid field where a planet's orbit used to be.
The universe is too young for us to find anyone else out there. We're the first. How will we shape the galaxy to make life better for those who come after us?
The life that formed on Earth is terrifyingly invasive. The atmosphere and ocean is choked with monocellular life, and its surface is coated with a mass of multicellular organisms finding new ways to devour one another. Even extinction events don't keep down the biomass for long. If life on other planets looks anything like us, the problem isn't going to be detecting it. It'll have gotten everywhere. The problem is going to be not immediately getting colonized and eaten alive by it. And if life on other planets DOESN'T look like us, our whole planet is probably a class 1 biohazard and contamination risk. Multicellular earth organisms contain microcosmic ecosystems that proliferate explosively when they die. If anything inside them can find ANYTHING to eat, it's over.
Life evolves frequently, but always in oceans. It is extremely rare for any alien life to leave that ocean and adapt to life on land. Without this step, the jump to space exploration - even space contemplation - becomes infinitely more unlikely.
Monocellular life is seeded on planets from an outside source and allowed to self-cultivate and grow until the biomass reaches a certain volume. Then the farmers return to harvest it.
There is not a single other species on our entire planet that humans can actually reliably communicate with. It takes tremendous amounts of training to make an animal capable of recognizing even a handful of words, and very few of them can use them. Humans can't even communicate with other humans with 100% clarity, even if they're using the same language. When we find alien life, if we even recognize it as anything resembling life as we know it, we have absolutely no way of communicating.
Space colonialism has been disallowed by the space geneva conventions due to massive past tragedies, parasitic exploitation of worlds and senseless loss of life. Human expeditionary efforts are being watched warily through targeting sights.
We've known about radio communication for less than 200 years. We haven't yet figured out the medium through which all advanced civilizations communicate.
Alien life exists in abundance, but the vast majority of it is extremely tiny. We wouldn't spot an anthill on a satellite photo, and none of their ships are large enough to survive passage through our atmosphere.
Earth's oxygen atmosphere is an anomaly, and our first and most enduring extinction event. The explosive proloferation of cyanobacteria and their oxygen photosynthesis irreparably altered the planet's prebiotic atmosphere and wiped out everything that couldn't handle the sudden massive increase in a highly reactive and flammable gas. Earth is considered highly toxic and unstable, though recently detected increases in methane and CO2 might signal that nature is finally beginning to heal.

You thought you would never see him again. Not here in this neon nightmare of death games and psychopathic guards. But there he was: Thanos, in all his glory, with that fucking green jump suit that somehow made him look dumber than whatever way he already looked.
“Y/N,” he said, “Fancy seeing you here.”
You groaned. Loudly. “Of course, it’s you. The universe wouldn’t be cruel enough to allow me to escape this.”
“Cruel? Or destined?”
Yep. That’s right. Back when you were still deep in the game... no, not this death game, the other one, with the gangs and dealers and all of the cursed undergound deals you used to sell to him inthhe past. He wasn’t really ‘Thanos’ at that point. No, he was just Choi Su Bong, a wannabe rapper with a galaxy-sized ego.
And yeah, sure, he paid well (sometimes in bundles he claimed were from a “distant realm,” but who cares), but at the price of listening to him rap the ugliest bars you ever heard. You thought you were forever done with that life. But now?
Now, he’s here. In your face. In this game. While somehow managing to “flirt” in the most awkward, over-the-top ways imaginable.
“What on earth are you doing here?” you said, narrowing your eyes. “Your rap career flopped, or what?”
His exaggerated chuckle made a few of the other players look nervously in your direction, “The rap game couldn't handle me,” he said, “But I knew destiny would unite us again.”
“Destiny? Or that you can’t stay out of trouble?”
He ignored that. “Remember our late-night deals? The way we’d share whispers in the dark with secrets exchanged like precious jewels?”
Seriously?
You stared at him. “Thanos, I sold you weed.”
“Cosmic weed,” he corrected you with his finger held up, “And inspiration.”
“Uh, no? I sold you product … so you could get high and spit more of those garbage raps of yours.”
“I know you meant to say terribly brilliant raps,” he corrected one more time. “And now, here we are. Two fighters in this brutal game, bonded again.”
“I’m trying to survive. not write a duet with you,”
He grinned mischievously. “But survival is an art. And the two of  us? We’ll create a masterpiece together.
Before you could unload with all the insults bubbling in your  throat, Nam-gyu (Player 124) popped out of thin air and attached himself to Thanos like a lost puppy. “Hey, Boss! Who’s your friend?”
“Y/N,  meet Nam-su.”
“Nam-gyu.” Player 124 corrected.
Thanos corrected  himself, “Meet Nam-gyu. My… sidekick.”
Nam-gyu grinned. “Boss says I’ve got potential. What about you? Are you friends with him or something?”
You let out a heavy sigh. “Sure.”
The purple-haired boy added, his voice dripping with innuendo, “More than friends.  Kindred spirits. Partners in destiny.”
Nam-gyu’s eyes widened. “Whoa. That’s deep.”
“It’s delusional” you muttered.
Nam-gyu looked between the two of you. “So… is this like, a thing? You guys got history?”
Thanos smiled, the kind of smile that made you want to punch it off his face. “A cosmic connection, forged in the fires of ambition and—”
“If you say ‘destiny’ one more time, I swear I’ll throw you into the next game.”
Nam-gyu whistled quietly, leaning closer to Thanos. “Feisty much?”
“They’ve always had a fiery temper,” Thanos said, not even trying to hide his amusement. “One of the many things I admire about them.”
“Admire all you want,” you said, crossing your arms. “But if you think I’m going to partner up with you again, you’ve got another thing coming.”
He shrugged, utterly unfazed. “We’ll see, Y/N. We’ll see.”
You huffed, turning on your heel and walking away, hoping to find literally anyone else to align with in this twisted game.
And you knew, deep down, that fate (or your seriously bad luck) wasn’t done with you yet.

cry baby (i've got this anxious feeling but it goes away for a minute when i'm with you breathing) - ekko x reader
wc: 1k
warnings: mention of blood
ekko x medic!reader
Tumblr media
ekko doesn't remember the exact moment when everything changed between you two. one minute, you were just kids running through the streets of zaun, stealing glances at each other and dreaming of something better. the next, you were both standing midst of a revolution, both bearing the weight of your choices and responsibilities.
it had always been that way, hadn't it? both of you carried the pain of zaun’s broken streets in different ways, and that pain had shaped who you were—who you were meant to be.
“y/n,” ekko whispered, his voice strained from the blood loss. “how did we get here?”
you didn’t answer right away. you finished wrapping his side with gauze and then gently cupped his chin, tilting his face up toward yours. there was no judgment in your eyes, only the kind of quiet understanding that ekko had never found anywhere else.
“we were always going to end up here,” you said softly. “those were the shitty cards we were dealt with.”
you were no longer the girl that played in the streets with him. no longer the girl to whisk away to some dingy rooftop to stargaze at the barely visible galaxy. you were the firelight medic now. your eyes were laser focused as you worked, hands steady and efficient. back when you were children, you had patched him up after every scrape, every reckless stunt. nothing had changed, you were still the one taking care of himself when he couldn't.
“still think you’re invincible?” you asked, glancing up at him as you cleaned the wound.
“i’m still breathing,” ekko shot back, but the words felt hollow, more tired than defiant.
you didn’t respond, just continuing to work on him. it was always this way. you’d never say what you really wanted to say, but ekko knew you too well. there were things between you—things left unsaid—but both of you had been too afraid to voice them. back then, it was the simple question of whether you’d be able to survive together. now, it was bigger than that. now, it was about whether if you guys could still see each other as more than the people you had been, more than the roles you both were now trapped in.
ekko met your eyes, his chest tight. “i don’t know if i can fix this. everything’s falling apart, y/n, i keep trying, but it’s never enough.”
you finished cleaning the wound, your hands pausing as you looked up at him. the same intensity you had always carried was still there, but now it was mixed with something else—something softer, something more fragile.
“you’re not supposed to fix everything,” you said quietly. “you’re just supposed to keep going. we all are.”
there was a pause, and for a fleeting moment, ekko saw the girl he had known all his life. the girl who had bandaged his scraped knees, who had silently supported him with his creations. the girl who had always believed in something better for them, for zaun.
“and what if i don’t know how?” he whispered, the vulnerability in his voice something he hadn’t allowed anyone to hear in years.
you set down your medical tools and stepped closer to him. you took his hand, your fingers warm against his cold skin. for a moment, he felt a wave of emotions crash over him—memories of their childhood, of simpler times, of a connection that had always been there but was buried beneath the chaos of their lives.
“you don’t have to know how, ekko,” you said softly, your voice just for him. “you just have to keep trying.”
you took a seat beside him on the tiny bed, bodies squished together, shoulders pressing. you hesitated for a moment before leaning your head against his.
“you’re not the boy savior or the leader of the firelights when you’re here with me. you’re just ekko, the boy who always offered me the last bite of his food, the tastiest part. the boy who indulged in my every stupid theory about aliens. the boy who always managed to pull reckless stunts after stunts and inevitably end up injured and come to me, hands expectantly raised to be patched up.”
you fiddled with the ends of your skirt. “you still do. all of that.”
he rubbed his neck sheepishly. “your aliens theories are very interesting.”
you smiled at him softly. he mirrored a similar one of his own.
ekko looked at you then, really looked at you. and in that moment, something shifted—something he hadn’t expected but had always hoped for. he wasn’t sure where this path would lead them, but he knew one thing for certain: you was still here, still standing by his side.
“i don’t know if i can keep doing this without you,” he said, his voice low, vulnerable.
you smiled, gently flicking his forehead before cupping his face to press a chaste kiss on his cheek. ‘you dont have to, silly. i’m not going anywhere. i’m not leaving you ever.”
for a long moment, you simply stayed there, the weight of everything you both had endured settling between, unspoken. you didn’t need to say more. not yet. there was time.
