honestly Netflix should’ve kept Frank a Vietnam war vet instead of updating him to be more ~relevant~ and ~modern~ or whatever. Can you imagine Daredevil season 2- but it’s Matt throwing hands with a 70 year old man. Except the physical capabilities of this old man are never acknowledged. It’s just like- “oh yeah, of course he can do that. He’s The Punisher.” Matt wakes up chained to a chimney but instead of Jon Bernthal, he’s face to face with a boomer whose back is sprained in several places. He has a broken hip and a receding hairline. He threatens Matt with a gun in one hand and a cane in the other. They have the exact same argument on the rooftop but Frank goes the extra mile and calls Matt a lazy entitled Millennial snowflake who’s never worked a day in his life. then goes on a “Back in my day…” spiel. Matt keeps getting into physical altercations with the super powered Baby Boomer dementia-ridden PTSD grandpa with guns but it still comes out evenly matched. Instead of breaking out of prison, Frank has to murder his way out of a nursing home. Season 2 ends with Frank getting a heart attack and dying because he fell down the stairs.

If I had a nickel for every time there’s a main character that comes from relatively humble origins and finds himself in crazy situations almost to the point that it’s being manipulated by some force greater than the world and somehow this character with lots of magical powers who has to figure them out bc he’s basically the first of the power wielders like him in ages ends up with a flute from a mysterious jester sort of character who is much more complex than you originally thought, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it’s happened twice
