A scene that's always rotating in my head is the end of All Things when Scully starts chasing the person in the cap down the street, and, just like magic or fate, that person turns into Mulder. And he randomly starts talking about his trip and you can SEE a weight being lifted off of her. She spent the whole episode ashamed of herself and her choices and just by being with him she just feels so at ease. It's so easy being with him and loving him. Like it never was with anyone before. And then they go home and drink tea and she tells him all about what's been going on and she's so tired from all she's been through and he's such a calming presence that she just drifts off in sleep. It's so beautiful

Had the pleasure of performing with an afghan poet (cool) in front of german charity ladies (not so cool) today. Charity ladies: You need to stop fooling yourselves. You are watching us, like your old husband is watching porn while you're away: self-serving, with the expactation of sweet old release (tears in your eyes). No sane person participates in these projects, unless they are paid well or lack experience/other opportunities to perform. Under the charity gaze, performers have two options: Tell their life as a sob story, or tell their life as an inspirational tale. I've seen this play out from behind the scenes now and frankly, I'm disgusted.

you know im gonna be honest--i dont know what the phrase ‘female gaze’ even means. its gets tossed around a lot and i think its supposed to mean, like ‘when a man does something women find attractive’--but sometimes i, as woman, dont really care about what i just saw. sometimes i dont even think about it at all. sometimes im not even attracted to the action that im supposed to be attracted to. its an action taken and i felt nothing.
