I'd like to say a few words about the new update, specifically escalation therapy. The following is my personal opinion, of course you can feel different about the changes.

First of all Ultra II basically feels like constant enemies around without any items (okay yes barely any thanks to the included limited items III). Things go so slowly, since you have to hide constantly and have nothing to defend yourself. Additional variators like toxic shock/cold snap, limited rig/rigs extended cooldown (or other luxury upgrades like no prescriptions, no amps, or no rigs in the first place) makes everything so much more difficult to the point it's not challenging anymore, only annoying. Completely different feeling to my early escalation days where it was still fun despite struggling and barely making it past the 10th trial.

Ultra I being the standard variator for intensive trials is... not the best imo. You don't have extreme psychosis on any Genesis intensive trial.

The rewards thing is the next. The advanced escalation tasks give you the following:

Trial 15 -> 1000XP

Trial 25 -> 2000XP

Trial 50 -> 2000XP

Trial 75 -> 2000XP

As if not difficult enough, the rewards don't even increase with any achieved task after 25th. Why not make it worth it getting that far?

My last point is the no running variator. Why the hell does it even exist? All the other games you had to run or die, now you can't even do this anymore (turning a usually 7 minute mk into a 20+ minutes nightmare, toxic shock included). And no, spamming shift like with carrying acid doesn't help, you still get damage.

To say something positive, I do like the dual secondary objective variator starting at trial 21.

To me it feels like the game doesn't want you to win. A few hardcore gamers have some more challenges but no new player will warm up to Escalation, that's how I think it's going to be. I'm not new to it, having a peak of 100 and 300+ hours in escalation only.

Just wanted to share my thoughts, thanks for reading if you actually made it this far haha

P.S. I don't think the whole update isn't good, the things I don't like about it are all towards escalation

You needed to backtrack to a spot where you could loop, though, and there was almost no way you'd be able to do that.

Perhaps going through the gate was the preferable decision.

You're joining the many corpses of your comrades that decorated the halls upon your arrival.

At least your death was brief.
