🤫 👕 🪡 💌 🎠 🌌 if it’s too much feel free to skip any :3 -luc (fledgling-coronet)
beloved friend forever <3 tysm (Pssssst if anyone wants to send more I'd love that <33)
🤫- Write about a secret they share with their stuffie I think Ward tells Gale whenever he doesn't actually eat his veggies, or whenever he pretends to go to sleep and then stays up all night! Back when Gale was his stand-in "caregiver", he used to tell her about his Big feelings when he was regressed but now he just shares the silly secrets <3
👕- Do they have any outfits they like to wear while regressed? Usually he just wears a pair of PJ pants, and one of his casual shirts! He does however have several weather themed shirts, which he will never turn down <3
Tumblr media
🪡- What activities do they do while being regressed? Are any of them not 'typical' for regressors? He likes to do science projects! They're kid-safe of course, and sometimes he sits in and watches bigger science projects. He has a couple weather simulations he plays through sometimes. He's probably one of very few kids who sits and watches the Weather channel like its morning cartoons :P
💌- What is the love language between them and their caregiver like? Quality time! (Gonna get nerdy abt star trek |D here sorry) Bones is the Chief Med. Officer of Starfleet's flagship, which is to say he's pretty important, and the chaos the Enterprise crew gets into makes for some pretty consistently high stress levels
so it's nice for both of them (+Kirk about 50% of the time) when they just get to slow down and their world consists of just the two (or three) of them, and either Ward's room or Bones' room. (sometimes the Rec room areas or the holo-deck or other spaces on ship)
If Bones is super stressed and having a hard time taking a break or letting some of the other medical crew take charge, Ward can and Will weaponize his regression. He and Kirk put up thee sweetest puppy eyes, and give Bones a picture they drew together, and ask if the three of them can go do a puzzle or something
🎠- Do they have a favorite place to take their regressor? Being on a ship in deepspace can make it kinda hard to have a change of scenery, or at least it would be if the Enterprise didn't have Holodecks :D They're basically a simulator room that can make any sort of environment
Bones likes to take Ward (+Kirk 50% of the time) to a place out in the rural area of Georgia (even tho he's from Atlanta i think he'd be fond of a country house in his home state) with peach trees and just acres and acres to run around in. he relaxes on the porch in the shade while the two run around like goobers <3
🌌- Do they have any regression goals/dreams? (Ie owning a play room, finding a caregiver, ect) B4 meeting Bones, Kirk (and even Spock ehehe), Ward really wanted company, he's Independently Dependent which is basically like "Look at how I can do this all by myself! Are you watching? Are you watching?"
Now he's trying to convince Bones to let him get a pet that he can name Doppler!! He's... not been successful yet :P

My essential Star Trek episodes
@velociraptors-in-hats asked me for a list of essential Trek, and this is gonna be way too big for a text message, so here we go.
The Original Series (TOS)
While a lot of the show holds up surprisingly well for being over 50 years old, the pacing and aesthetic is incredibly dated. There’s a lot you can skip here.
Highlighted episodes:
“Charlie X”: If anyone tells you Kirk is a womanizer, point them at him teaching found teenager Charlie to behave himself.
“The Corbomite Maneuver”: If you wanna see Kirk do what Kirk is best at, this is a good place to start.
“Balance of Terror”: an antiracist cold war submarine drama in space (borrows heavily from movies like Run Silent, Run Deep)
“The Menagerie”: This was an excuse to recycle the unaired pilot, but the unaired pilot is a pretty good story and it’s framed by courtroom drama and Spock going rogue for a good cause.
“The Galileo Seven”: another really good drama centered on Spock.
“Space Seed”: I know I already said that this isn’t necessary to understand Wrath of Khan, but it’s a great episode anyway. If you have an opportunity to watch Ricardo Montalban act, it is best not to miss it.
“City on the Edge of Forever”: arguably the greatest Star Trek episode of the entire franchise.
“Amok Time”: You wanna see Kirk and Spock wrestle in the sand. You know you do.
“The Doomsday Machine”: more great writing.
“I, Mudd”: illogic bombs everywhere.
“Journey to Babel”: Father and Son drama, the beginning of “Spock doesn’t talk about his family until they’re standing in front of you”
“The Trouble with Tribbles”: the biggest space romp ever.
“Patterns of Force”: one of many Space Nazi episodes (there’s even more than one with literal Nazis), but the best one.
“Spock’s Brain”: there’s probably a drinking game for this one. Do not follow any rules about drinking for the word “brain” or you will die.
“The Enterprise Incident”: It’s hard to remember this is third season TOS because they were actually still trying here.
“All our Yesterdays” is pretty cool sci-fi. Time travel, marooned, going native-ish.
The Next Generation (TNG)
The first two seasons are the most skippable Star Trek has ever been, but if you wanna get a sense of it, I recommend considering any of “Lonely Among Us”, “The Battle” (gets a sequel seven years later), “The Big Goodbye”, “Datalore”, “Too Short a Season”, The Arsenal of Freedom”, and “We’ll Always Have Paris” from the first season, and “Where Silence Has Lease”, “Elementary Dear Data”, “The Measure of a Man” (civil rights courtroom drama, referenced heavily in the recent Picard series), “Q Who” (first Q episode I actually recommend, introduces the Borg), and “The Emissary” (starts an arc with Worf that will last into Deep Space Nine).
I do not recommend “Shades of Gray” unless you are really interested in what you missed from skipping the first two seasons. It doesn’t even have the So Bad It’s Good that The Enterprise Incident does.
I’m gonna have to get really discriminating here or this is gonna get really long now. I grew up with TNG and more than half of the episodes are ones I have some reason to love. (narrator voice: he did not get more discriminating)
Probably any Q and Borg episode from here.
“Yesterday’s Enterprise” is an alternate universe drama where we shift into a darker timeline where the Federation is losing a war with the Klingons (who are our friends now normally).
“The Offspring” - Data makes a child and it goes better than could be expected until it doesn’t.
“Sins of the Father” - this is where Worf’s arc really gets going.
“Allegiance” is just a good episode.
“Captain’s Holiday” is a bit pulpy. It was written because Stewart was complaining that the captain doesn’t do enough shooting and screwing. But it’s fun. Vash is fun.
“Sarek” has a great scene for Patrick Stewart showing Picard have another man’s breakdown for him.
“The Best of Both Worlds”: for the best effect, watch part one, then wait three months before watching part two.
“Family”: partly an epilogue to Best of Both Worlds, but a great story for Picard. And I think it’s another one in Worf’s main saga.
“Brothers”: this is the quintessential Data episode. If you only watch one episode with Lore, watch this one.
“Reunion” seeds the Klingon Civil War arc.
“Final Mission”: you are probably not going to see Wesley at his worst, but this episode is Wesley at his best. It is his final episode as a regular.
“Data’s Day”: literally a day in the life story, but Data is a lot of fun.
I personally really like The Nth Degree.
“The Mind’s Eye” is an “It’s very good but I would rather not rewatch it please” episode, but as with Chain of Command, torture stories are not a good time for me.
“Redemption” 1 and 2 brings home the Klingon Civil War and also ties in Yesterday’s Enterprise.
“Darmok”: Good science fiction predicts the internet. Great science fiction predicts communication through memes.
“Unification” 1 and 2: remember how the Vulcans and the Romulans look alike? This is important.
“Ethics” is well-written moral drama, but one of the two debates it engages with is assisted suicide, so you specifically will probably want to pass.
“The Inner Light” is a bit of a one-off, but you get to experience a man’s entire life as Picard experiences it.
A lot of people will tell you that “Time’s Arrow” is the weakest season cliffhanger, but I just think that running around San Francisco in the time of cholera with Mark Twain and Jack London is a lot of fun.
“A Fistfull of Datas”: Would you like to watch a spaghetti western where every character is played by Brent Spiner? Of course you would!
“Ship in a Bottle”: a sequel to “Elementary Dear Data”
“Tapestry”: possibly not actually a Q episode. Picard gets to face an old regret and see how his life would be different if things had gone another way.
“Frame of Mind” is a psychodrama where Riker’s reality falls apart.
I like high concept stories about time. “Timescape” is Clockstoppers before Clockstoppers.
Watch “Attached” if you find yourself shipping Jean-Luc and Beverly.
“The Pegasus” sees Riker forced to face the ghost of a past shame he thought was buried.
“Sub Rosa” is another one that everyone hates that I like. I’m just a sucker for the Scottish Highlands In Space setting, but to be fair to its detractors it was literally plagiarized from an Ann Rice paranormal romance novel.
“Lower Decks”: the characters we usually spend time with are up in the stratosphere in terms of the hierarchy on the ship. This episode takes the perspective of some junior officers.
“Masks” because Brent Spiner needs to set records for “most characters played in a single episode”.
“Emergence” is a creepy weird high-concept episode I really like.
“All Good Things” is unmissable. When you feel like you’re at home with TNG, watch the finale.
Deep Space Nine (DS9)
Again, the first few seasons are a bit awkward before the show finds itself. However, “Emissary” is possibly the best series premiere the show has ever done. This is a highly serialized show (for its time), so the deeper into the show, the more you should really watch them in order.
“Move Along Home” is another in the “so bad it’s good” pile. Get to know the show before you watch it.
Most people will tell you that “Duet” is one of Deep Space Nine’s best episodes. What would you do if you just arrested Josef Goebbels?
“In the Hands of the Prophets”: the Scopes Monkey Trial in space kind of.
“Whispers”: creeeepy. O’Brien is firmly cemented as the show’s designated sufferer.
“Shadow Play” is one of the early episodes that probably would’ve worked better for TNG, but I kind of like it.
“Blood Oath”:probably the beginning of Jadzia Dax being everyone’s favorite lesbian (/bi/trans) icon.
“The Maquis” two-part story is kind of a mission statement for the show.
“The Wire”: one of the two most Garak/Bashir episodes of the entire run.
“The Search” is a big reveal that has consequences for the entire rest of the series.
“The House of Quark” is a really fun episode pairing Ferengi and Klingon culture like oil and vinegar making salad dressing.
“Equilibrium” is a great episode for getting into the whole deal with Dax’s Trill gimmick.
“Civil Defense:” they trigger a lockdown protocol the Cardassians meant to use to suppress a Bajoran riot.
“Past Tense”, two parts. Please oh please don’t let the real 2024 look like this. One of DS9′s most prescient episodes (inspired by the Rodney King riots).
“Destiny” is one of the best episodes in the “Sisko has to reckon with being the Bajorans’ messiah figure” arc.
“Improbable Cause”/”The Die Is Cast” (DS9 is a bit averse to putting the same title on every part of a multipart story): dark, plot-heavy, and pretty important to what’s coming up soon.
“Family Business”: I think this is the introduction of Quark’s mother, the Ferengi feminist.
“The Adversary” is big for Odo.
“The Way of the Warrior” is basically the show’s second pilot episode.
“The Visitor” is a one-off story about the bond between Ben and Jake Sisko.
“Rejoined”: Give Jadzia A Girlfriend
“Little Green Men”: a one-off romp at the 1947 Roswell crash.
“Our Man Bashir”: Bashir and Garak are gay at each other while larping Bashir’s James Bond fantasy, only it turns deadly because the camera wandered into the holodeck again.
“Homefront”/”Paradise Lost”: again, a very Relevant episode where a terror attack on Earth causes the enactment of martial law.
“Bar Association”: Quark’s brother reads Das Kapital and starts a union. No seriously, that’s the episode.
“Body Parts”: Quark gets misdiagnosed with a terminal illness, sells his remains as is the Ferengi custom, and hijinks ensue (possibly triggering because he considers putting a hit on himself to get out of his dilemma).
“Broken Link”: this is a very big Odo story.
“Apocalypse Rising”: carries on from the not-really-a-cliffhanger in “Broken Link”, but it’s more about going undercover in the Klingon empire.
“Trials and Tribble-Ations”: Let’s go full Back to the Future Part 2 on a fan favorite TOS episode.
“For the Uniform”: explores the lengths Sisko will go to against a traitor.
“Doctor Bashir, I Presume”: Julian Bashir gets outed. The basis of the “Julian is transmasc” theory/metaphor.
“Children of Time”: high concept morality play. The crew meet their descendants from the crash they haven’t experienced yet.
“In the Cards”: notably, the A story is a breather romp and the B story is Plot Arc stuff.
Take “Call to Arms”, “A Time To Stand”, “Rocks and Shoals”, “Sons and Daughters”, “Behind the Lines”, “Favor the Bold”, and “Sacrifice of Angels” as a six-part arc. It’s not exactly one long story, but they were written as a short arc and play through each other.
“You are Cordially Invited”: Klingon Bachelor Parties are almost as bad as Klingon mothers in law.
“Statistical Probabilities”: following on from what we learned in “Doctor Bashir, I Presume”, Bashir tries to help some institutionalized augments find a greater purpose than being locked up in an asylum.
“Far Beyond The Stars”: a one-off where Sisko has a vision of being a pulp sci-fi writer in the 50s trying to get a story about a black man commanding a space station published.
“One Little Ship”: just some fun with a negative space wedgie that shrinks people.
“Wrongs Darker than Death or Night”: Kira learns what her mother did to keep her family safe.
“Inquisition”: Bashir gets accused of having been brainwashed into an unwitting spy.
“In the Pale Moonlight”: how many lines will Sisko cross in order to win the war?
“His Way”: Odo gets mentored in dating by a 50s lounge singer hologram.
“Valiant”: a crew of cadets that think they can do anything go cultish when their senior officer dies and they have to run the ship by themselves behind enemy lines.
“Take Me Out To the Holosuite”: the war is pretty grim, let’s play baseball against Sisko’s academy days bully.
“Treachery, Faith, and the Great River”: Odo escorts a defector who sees him, like all of Odo’s kind, as a god (because that’s how Odo’s people control them).
“The Siege of AR-558″: the War is Hell episode of the War Is Hell series.
“It’s Only a Paper Moon”: Quark’s nephew escapes reality in the 50s lounge singer’s world after losing a leg in the war.
“Prodigal Daughter”: It’s season seven, so Ezri Dax gets a lot of focus because they only had one season to get to know her. But this is one of the best Ezri episodes.
“Badda Bing, Badda Bang”: Deep Space Nine does Ocean’s Eleven.
The ten episodes after that are the Final Chapter arc, which ties up all the stories they had in the air for the last seven years.
Voyager (VOY)
“Caretaker” sets up a lot of things, some of which will even actually be followed through on.
“Faces”: an alien scientist splits the half-Klingon/half-human engineer into her human and Klingon halves.
“The 37s”: I don’t remember much of this one aside from they find Amelia Earhart and others from that time cryogenically frozen on a planet on the other side of the galaxy, and we get to see the ship land for no particular reason.
“Projections”: Doctor episodes are great in general. This one has the Doctor’s reality breaking down.
“Twisted”: weird space stuff warps space inside the ship.
I really like the Q episodes on Voyager, but if discussion of suicide is triggering, you should know that “Death Wish” is about a Q (not The Q, another one. They’re all named Q and so is their species) who wants the right to end his immortality.
“Deadlock”: Voyager is duplicated by a negative space wedgie, but only one can survive because reasons.
“The Thaw”: a great episode about facing Fear. Guest starring Michael McKean as a personification of Fear.
“Resolutions”: Hey, did we set up romantic tension between the captain and her first officer? Let’s put that to bed.
“Flashback”: Janeway and Tuvok go inside Tuvok’s memories of the five minutes Sulu was in The Undiscovered Country.
“Sacred Ground”: this episode kind of defines how I see the relationship between faith and skepticism.
“Future’s End” (two parts): Remember The One With The Whales? We’re doing it again twelve years later, but with Sarah Silverman instead of whales.
“The Q and the Grey”: Q (yes actually that one) gets Janeway involved in a Q Civil War because somehow making a Q baby is going to end it and he wants Janeway to be his baby mama.
“Coda”: Janeway gets stuck in dying dream after dying dream.
“Before and After”: Kes is jumping backwards in time.
“Worst Case Scenario”: episodes where the cast get to play evil versions of their characters are fun.
“Scorpion” (2 parts): Janeway makes a deal with the devil.
“Year of Hell” (2 parts): they wanted to do an entire season of this, which in turn was inspired by what they’d originally planned for the show all along before the suits decided it should be a safe TNG knockoff.
“Message in a Bottle”: They find a way to send transmissions across the galaxy, but for Reasons, text and video messages can’t get through, but a hologram can, so the Doctor has an away mission to the Alpha Quadrant.
“Living Witness”: a one-off episode with a backup copy of the Doctor in the far future setting the record straight on Voyager’s involvement in a war between two planets.
“Timeless”: Chakotay and Harry made it home, but the rest of the crew died in a crash. So now they’re on the run from the law to send a message back in time to put it right.
“Latent Image”: the Doctor’s memories have been tampered with.
“Bride of Chaotica!”: a holodeck Buck Rogers fantasy goes off the rails.
“Course: Oblivion”: the ship and crew start to fall apart.
“Someone to Watch Over Me”: Voyager does My Fair Lady.
“11:59″: As an Indiana native I am legally obligated to recommend this story about what Janeway’s ancestor was doing on New Year’s Eve 1999.
“Relativity”: Time chase. Somebody’s trying to blow up Voyager in the past.
Equinox (Two parts): What if Voyager hadn’t held onto its ideals in their quest to get home?
“The Voyager Conspiracy”: good sci-fi anticipates the internet. Great sci-fi anticipates people finding patterns that don’t exist in the information overload.
“Pathfinder”: Remember Barclay? His latest awkwardness is his obsession with Voyager.
“Fair Haven”/”Spirit Folk”: these aren’t directly paired, but they’re both set in holographic Ireland. In the first one, Janeway tailors her holographic boyfriend to exactly what she wants, in the second, the characters have been running for so long they start to get the sense that there’s something strange about the out of towners.
“Life Line”: The Doctor gets transmitted across the galaxy to save his creator from an illness.
“The Haunting of Deck Twelve”: Neelix tells the Borg Children a ghost story that maybe really happened.
Unimatrix Zero (two parts): I don’t remember much of this, but it’s one of the biggest Borg stories in a show that overused the Borg.
“Imperfection”: Seven of Nine is practicing being human on the holodeck and starts to have a systems failure.
“Critical Care”: the Doctor gets captured by an alien hospital and fights against the stratification of their healthcare system.
“Inside Man”: Barclay again. He sent a hologram of himself to help Voyager get home.
“Flesh and Blood”: a hologram rights story.
“Shattered”: the ship is fractured in time, and Chakotay is roaming the ship through different time periods trying to reintegrate it.
“Lineage”: B’elanna goes a little overboard tinkering with her baby’s genome.
“Q2″: It’s a Q episode, and nobody’s suicidal.
“Renaissance Man”: The Doctor does more than he was ever designed for.
“Endgame”: the end.
Enterprise (ENT)
I’ve only watched most of these once. I really don’t know the show that well.
I can tell you that the first two seasons are a bunch of one-offs with the major theme being “we’re out here to make friends and introduce ourselves to the neighborhood”. The third season is Star Trek’s answer to 9/11 and it goes really Jack Bauer. There are some one-offs, but it’s very focused on the Xindi threat. The fourth season is short arcs where they got around to being a prequel show and did a lot of the good kind of callbacks to TOS.
Discovery (DIS, Disco, DSC, definitely not ST:D)
Modern-era Star Trek is very serialized. It would take less time to say which episodes of Discovery are skippable. I’ve only seen the first season once, and I’m still not done with the second season. Captain Pike from the original TOS pilot is the captain in the second season and he is the best thing about modern Trek.
Picard (PIC?)
There’s only one season so far, and it is 100% serialized. It doesn’t have filler episodes, it has filler spread out through all the episodes. They told a four or five episode story in ten episodes. Though really not much happens between the end of the first episode and when they pick up Seven of Nine. The stuff on the Borg Cube is highly skippable until episode 6.
Lower Decks (LD?)
This is currently in its first season. It’s an adult-oriented animated comedy by the guy who did TNGs8 on Twitter and his most notable professional work before this is Rick and Morty. It’s a loving tweak on the nose of Star Trek.
The future
There’s a Nickelodeon show coming up called “Prodigy” that we don’t know much about. It’s animated, it’s for kids, and it’s about a ship crewed by cadets.
Discovery season 3 is coming very soon, again going in a completely new direction from the first two seasons.
Picard is going to get a second season eventually. It doesn’t seem to have been part of the plan, but there it is.
There’s also Strange New Worlds, a... Discovery spinoff? Centering on Discovery’s version of Pike commanding the Enterprise with Number One and Spock, and it’s planned to be more episodic. Also coming whenever the world isn’t on fire.

I dare you to answer ALL OF THE QUESTIONS
Oh geez. This is my dream but I also feel bad for anyone that’s going to get a giant wall of text when I finish this. If anyone wanted to know A LOT about me, here you go😂😂
1. Answered
2. Answered
3. What’s your favorite candle scent?: This is actually very specific. It’s the ‘Winter Candy Apple’ candle that Bath and Body Works comes out with during the holidays!
4. What flower would you like to be given?: Well, my favorite flowers are lilies of the valley, peonies, and sunflowers. So any of those! I’ve never really been given flowers before, honestly.
5. Who do you feel the most you around?: @thesefeelingsivegot who is my best friend that I met on here through Dunkirk and got to meet this past October. I’m hoping to go visit her this summer as well! She’s honestly like my other half😅
6. Say three nice things about yourself (three physical and three non-physical): Yikes, this is difficult. Um…I like my hair a lot which has been a really long process so I’ll take that as an accomplishment. Uhhh, this isn’t easy! I think I’m a really loyal friend. And I like to think I can be funny.
7. What color brings you peace?: I think I’d have to say light shades of blue and then like forest green.
8. Tag someone (or multiple people) who make you feel good: you, @thesefeelingsivegot @towrite-or-not-towrite @magneticghouls @ohmytaikawaititi and @toziersrichard are the first to come to mind!
9. What calms you down?: Watching old SNL sketches or interviews of people that I really admire and adore. It’s my go to self care method when I’m feeling really bad.
10. What’s something you’re excited for?: Spring break starts this Friday and I always go to Disney World with my parents so I’m excited for that!
11. What’s your ideal date?: Honestly, getting a date at all would be ideal since that’s never happened. It’s probably seeing a play or musical.
12. How are you?: Oof, that’s a loaded question. It’s day to day but overall, I’m good. This is a really stressful and overwhelming semester but I’m trying to get through it without getting too worn out.
13. Answered.
14. Favorite feel good show?: Hmmm…the show that probably makes me the happiest is SNL so I’ll go with that.
15. For every emoji you get, tag someone and describe them in one word: I didn’t get any so I can’t!
16. Compliment the person that sent you this number: Oh! That’s much easier. I feel like we’ve been mutuals on here for absolutely ages now! We don’t talk as much as we used to but I always am really excited to hear from you when we do! Anytime I get a notification from you, it definitely makes my day a little brighter!
17. Fairy lights of LED lights?: I think fairy lights.
18. Do you still love stuffed animals?: ABSOLUTELY!!!
19. Most important thing in your life?: This might sound ridiculous but it’s a blanket. I’ve had it since the day I was born and I still carry it with me everywhere yes I’m 24 let me live
20. What do you want most in the world right now?: Hmm. I just want more answers about a lot that’s coming in the near future for me, really. I feel like I’m waiting for so many things to fall into place.
21. If you could tell your past self one thing, what would it be?: This one’s going to get dark so sorry in advance. I’d probably just…apologize. I’d tell myself that it’s okay. That I know things are really hard and seem impossible. That people always say ‘it gets better’ and it feels like utter bullshit. But they’re right. And I know you hate that but they really are right. Things will get better and you’ll get to live a life you never even imagined was possible. Just trust me, you don’t want to die. I know you do right now but you won’t feel that way forever.
22. What would you say to your future self?: I think it would be more of a question really. I’d just ask if I finally made it where I wanted to be. If I’m studying what I want and if I’m happy.
23. Favorite piece of clothing?: The first pair of Dr Martens I bought. I still wear them basically every day despite having 11 pairs.
24. What’s something you do to destress?: That’s sort of the same as what I do to calm down. I watch things that make me happy!
25. What’s the best personal gift someone could give you (playlist, homemade card, etc.): Honestly anything personal absolutely melts my fucking heart so I can’t pick one thing. I love when someone gives me something that’s meaningful to our friendship. Something we specifically enjoy together, that’s the best.
26. What movie would you want to live in?: It’s tough because a lot of movie universes have a lot of death and really horrible events taking place. I think living on a Federation protected planet in any Star Trek movie would be pretty amazing. But…I’d want to be a Vulcan.
27. Which character would you want to be?: Can I be married to Spock? If not…just Spock.
28. Hugs or hand holding?: Honestly neither…I really don’t like being touched😂
29. Morning, afternoon, or night?: Considering I’m writing this at 3:50 AM…definitely night! Or…would that be considered morning then, technically? I’m a night owl🤷🏻‍♀️
30. Answered.
Thank you so much for this, I really enjoyed it a lot!!!💗💙💕

June 22: 1x03 Where No Man Has Gone Before
Today, the second pilot, aka Kirk fights his ex-boyfriend, the superhuman space mutant.
Whaaaaat TV screen by the chess set? That’s such a funny transition for me for some reason.
Spock thinks he can win lol. I love that he’s sassy from the start. And throwing shade at Sarek, which is how I choose to interpret “my ancestor married a human woman” when he very well knows it’s his dad.
“Materializer.”
For a moment, I thought Spock was of a lower rank but then I realized the pilot uniforms only showed three different ranks so who even knows.
I’m barely even paying attention to the plot, I’m too distracted by the outfits and the banter.
Are you certain you don’t know what irritation is, Mr. Spock????? Are you SURE?
THIS ELEVATOR SCENE IS STILL MY FAVORITE IN THE WHOLE SERIES. Kirk is so obviously in love with Spock already, like just the way he looks at him??? And Gary is bitter. Did you finish your GAME GUYS? How was the GAME?? You like that CHESS?
Lol at Kirk’s microphone. I love how different the pilot is and how much more obvious the differences are because it’s sci fi. (Their screen/windshield is also hilarious for some reason? It looks very fake.)
Sulu is head of astrophysics?? Really got a demotion there. This needs to be a thing in fic though, somehow.
Kirk is so brave. Gonna explore this weird space thing to save future space travelers.
New drinking game: take a shot every time there’s a random shot of Kirk looking beautiful.
My mother asked if Gary was hoping he could hold Kirk’s hand when the alien force field attacks and I said yes. Dig it in there Mr. Kirk.
Kirk and Spock flying the ship.
Sulu looking gorgeous.
Some gratuitous k/s arm grabbing.
Love how they show the ship has no warp by having it move really slowly across the screen. But actually--completely underrated problem that I forgot about it what with the whole Gary God Complex thing--if you have no warp capabilities you are stranded for real.
It took me a suuuuuper long time to figure out why most esper people died and two became supermutants. The force field targeted the most susceptible but was too much for most of them.
Also I love how the force field was just literally never explained. It just is. Nor was it explained that that other ship was, which Kirk seemed to think shouldn’t have been in deep space in the first place.
I can’t believe Dehner is telling a literal alien “this is how this thing is and there’s only one version of the thing and these are the limits.” Like??? He has all sorts of abilities you don’t know about? Why do you assume that things as they have been observed on Earth are the only way things can be, especially outside Earth? When you are talking to someone whose very existence would be impossible by your measure?
Looking at medbay, can’t help but feel that McCoy really spruced up the joint.
Gary rearranging himself just so for Jim’s entrance.
I legitimately don’t know what “this long hair stuff you like” is. I was born in 1988 so, that’s my excuse.
A STACK OF BOOKS WITH LEGS
IN LT. KIRK’S CLASS YOU THINK OR SINK.
Kirk is giving Gary those “I love you” eyes. They’re exes. Clearly.
I mean “I outlined her whole campaign for her”? First, putting unnecessary characters into a story because the short version is homosexual is ITSELF homosexual and second--that’s very gay on its face.
Kirk is clearly trying to be the Cool Ex (and, uh, boss) and Gary’s still bitter. “Friend Captain.”
No privacy on the Enterprise I see.
“The one you used to know,” Spock says, clearly jealous.
Love poem from 1996--so ancient.
Imo Spock is glad for this opportunity to shade Gary Mitchell openly. Finally, I can tell Jim my real thoughts: we should kill him.
Dr. Dehner is awfully enamored of this whole “new kind of human” thing given that she must have some knowledge of Earth history, including, you know, the horrifically deadly WWIII fought over exactly this idea but w/e.
Sulu bringing the math.
Spock saying “Jim” again. He definitely actually does this a lot? Maybe later he pulls himself back on purpose on account of Too Many Feelings.
D E L T A V E G A .
Forgot they poached that name. Should have kept it a mining planet. I wonder if it is supposed to be the same place and if Ambassador Spock was thinking about Gary while he was there.
“You’re talking about Gary!” This Kirk and Spock scene is really good too. Just about as good as the elevator scene. I literally cannot read this through anything other than the “ex and future boyfriend” lens and it makes it so much better. (Not that it’s not a good story on its face because it is. But just like the additional layers??)
“Our task: maroon my ex-boyfriend on this abandoned planet.” They’ve known each other 15 years.
Kirk and Spock taking Gary down.
That is 100% a drawing taken from the cover of a 50s sci fi novel.
Spock is so ridiculously, comically armed. Pacifist who? They keep on saying he doesn’t have feelings and yet ALL I see are feelings. Arming himself to the teeth for Jim. Clearly bitter about Jim’s feelings for Gary. Ready to thrown down all the time.
RIP Kelso. Good thing he got that commendation.
“Command and compassion is a fool’s mixture.”
“Don’t wake up Spock until I’m gone or he’ll follow me.” True.
Just Jim and his ridiculous weapon now, off to ruin Gary’s date.
Kirk and Spock would love all these flowers.
“You were a psychiatrist once--ten minutes ago.”
“Did you hear him joke about compassion?” I know the powers corrupted Gary but...did they do all the corrupting? Or did they just allow him to say some stuff he really means?
That “phaser rifle” looks like a supersoaker. (Mom: it probably is.)
Gary claims to know Jim so well but he doesn’t even know his middle name.
He’s so dramatic. SO DRAMATIC. Calling Jim “James” all the time; clearly his personal name for him when they were together. Whereas Jim continues to call him by his last name, which is funny.
And then Spock sees Jim is about to get sad and makes sure to come right over. “I felt for him too,” he admits, reluctantly.
It’s weird how much more dated this ep looks imo. Like I strongly maintain that even on the basis of style TOS ages very well (better than TNG which is 90s to the hilt), but this one looked very...50s/60s sci fi. Not in a bad way, just in a very obvious way. I feel like even the Enterprise looks a lot different after the pilot, in ways I can’t really explain or describe or pinpoint. It’s just subtly.... more unique. More real.
Mom and I were discussing where this fits in the timeline. She thinks early 5 year mission, which is what I’ve always assumed...but I’m bothered by how 99% of the crew is different. So now I’m thinking, like, pre-5 year mission? Maybe like a short mission? This is Kirk’s first command, maybe they sent him out for like a year first. It doesn’t explain how Gary and Spock have “worked together for years” but Dehner could have been wrong about that, or she could have meant they both have 15 years + in Starfleet.
The AOSverse should have rebooted Mitchell instead of Khan and that’s all I’m saying about that but it’s true.
I have always assumed Gary is First Officer in this ep but I don’t remember it actually being mentioned and now I’m wondering if we’ve all just collectively made that up.
Next up is the absolute classic The Naked Time. Maybe I’ll find an opportunity to watch it in less than a week’s time?

Lines of ice from rolling waves and subtle villains
A strange boy
Chapter 4
“It is my honour to welcome you here today. I am Mr Daimon, the headmaster. I’d also like to welcome you to the cafe. It isn’t usually this busy, but at times like this, the stage is necessary. This will be where you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is closed the rest of the time but if you are the snacking sort you can always take away some fruit, or find the vending machines across campus, although we don’t sell chocolates and crisps anymore, after we raised the obesity rating in our area several years ago, there are several good snacks in the vending machines, nuts, cereal bars, cup noodles, and fruit.”
“I’m sure you all know this is a school that prizes our diversity, in all its shapes and forms, whether its species, religion or sexuality. In this school, we truly put our minority first. I will now leave you in the capable headmistress Mrs MacDougal.”
A human woman, older wrinkled like a pitbull, and with a crazed spark to her eye, took the microphone and somehow, while her glazed look danced across the group, looked each of the new years in the eye.
“Good morning children” a thick Scottish accent wrapped its way around the room, almost comforting, almost terrifying “in a moment, I will call your name, and you will then you will go to the back of the room and stand near our prefect in the bright yellow vest…” she points. There were several people standing at the back of the room, several of them Spock recognised from outside. One of them put up a hand and waved.
“Alice Anderson” Mrs McDougal cooed, and a girl stood up with her bags and walked towards the prefect. This continued with all the names. Eventually, and sooner than he expected she called Spock’s name.
“Spock” she sighs “I’m slaughtering this, don’t correct me right now. Too guy, Schiin.” God she really did slaughter his name. Spock stood and walked across like the others had done. She stood next to the prefect, and Jim, who had already been called. Then a moment happened. One Spock would never forget. Mrs MacDougal looked to her list and into the microphone she spoke.
“Pavel Chekov.” A gasp sounded in the hallway, and on that far from table Spock had come from, Moriarty stood up.
“That’s my name, that’s my name. I’m Pavel.” Pavel who had previously claimed his name was Moriarty said as he walked over to stand next to Spock.
“….thats a nice name” Spock said quietly.
“I thought your name was Moriarty.” Jim said.
“It’s not. I forgot my name, it’s Pavel.” They said. Jim frowned and averted her eyes.
“Okay…”
When Mrs MacDougal finally stopped for a moment, she waved at the small group, of about 40 people, and the prefect spoke loudly and lively.
“Right guys follow me” the prefect said, and as if by magic, the doors behind them opened, but it wasn’t magic it was electricity, a sensor on the door.
* * *
He didn’t talk until they’d walked far enough down the corridor, to the point where Mrs MacDougal’s echoing voice finally vanished. Then he started talking.
“I’m supposed to give you folks a tour, welcome to the Red house. I’m Tyler the prefect, and I will nark on you. The headmaster gives me money every time I do, given there’s proof. History lesson 1, this entire school exists because of our current headmaster, so have some respect. History lesson 2, the headmaster originally tried to make enough houses for every colour of the rainbow, he was hitting diversity from more of a gay angle rather than alien, but then he found out that was way too many houses, so our schools house’s colours are now red, orange, yellow and green. The other houses tend to pick on green, but thats just because we’re jealous they got the good colour. If you go outside wearing our house’s colour you’re going to look like a real neon bitch. I f**ked John Harrison in that room” he points to a room labeled library.
“Is there anytime we need to wear our house colours?” Pavel asked.
“Sports day, spelling bees and quizzes. Our houses don’t matter the rest of time, despite teachers trying to encourage some friendly competitiveness between us. We do get house points, at the end of each week the winner of the individual week get some sweets or a treat brought to their form. Sometimes its food, sometimes it’s a film thats just been released, you know something you’d want. At the end of the year the house with the most gets 5 school days to take off during the year. A lot of folks just use this to extend their half term holidays, others use them as mental health days, or for times they’ve forgot to do their homework. The year before yellow won, most of their group saved their days until the end of the year and then had a 3 day summer holiday party before they left.” Tyler points to another room labelled ‘secret library.’
“Made out with Galia Eric in that room.”
“Why is it called the secret library?” Trisha a girl with a blonde pony tail sharply pulled back asked. Since Spock had watched them all stand up he had memorised their names.
“It’s just to let you know that those books are known for being racist, or sexist anything along that line. It’s more of a hey, maybe don’t say you want a relationship like ‘Lolita’, thats from the secret library so you probably haven’t understood it Christina. We got ‘Lolita’ and ‘Mein Kampf’ stored at the back, below it is ’50 shades of grey’ I’m telling you now, the librarians terrible, don’t mention it to the librarian though, she’ll take your guts out. Top tip if you’re going to read ‘Mein Kampf’ do it in the library and don’t take it out. The teachers will watch you for days unless you’re a history student. Hot tip: judge on the book, but research an author before you give them your heart. I’ve recently secretly moved a book from the library into the secret library.”
“Why?”
“I came in here a young whippersnapper alone and found a friend in a book. I researched the author and it all looked clear, they even appeared to support the ‘gays’, but it was a lie. God I purchased so much merchandise. The author has every opportunity to educate themselves. My bezzie Alexia has never done anything to speak over the abuse suffered by women, but now her words are just one more excuse for a transphobe to hold up. Broke my heart. F**k her.” He pulls his hair back and then shrugs “thats just how learning to live begins. Sometimes growing up is about allowing fandoms to die, it’s nice to visit them occasionally but if the artist of your work turns out to be evil, supporting a fandom even when they’ve stopped publishing work is supporting them. You’ve got to learn that it’s okay to mistake evil people for good. Countless people, even countries have done it. Save things that are dear to your heart but put it in a box for when your down, so you remember that, and move on. There are new creators around every corner looking for love, and deserving of it. It’s bit different when the creators are already dead or if it had more than one creator, but if not you’ve really just got to let it go.” Spock, had no idea what Tyler was talking about. He had enjoyed many works before but the term ‘fandom’ was completely lost on him. Then Tyler shrugged with a grin.
“If you don’t you’ll be Frozen.”
Tyler pointed to the right, and to the left, sometimes pointing at walls, sometimes pointing at doors.
“This whole hallways full of extra curricula's, the signs are self explanatory” Tyler points to the computer room “those all run ‘doom’. Lost my virginity under those desks.”
“Oh for gods sake” Christine a short girl with grey dyed hair, a fringe at the front and pony tail at the back with teeth that overlapped in a cute way said “do we need to-”
“Child, it is absolutely necessary you know what rooms I’ve made out in” Tyler points to the next room labelled music room “you do not want to know what I’ve done with some of those drumsticks.”
“Are all the prefects as slutty as you?” Christine asked.
“I don’t know, are all you bitches slut shamers?”
“Where’s our dorm?” Pavel asked “my bags kind of heavy .”
“The other side of school. Probably should have gone there first, but I need y’all to listen to my tour first.” The group groaned.

Jim Kirk is many things-he's loyal, intelligent, handsome (so his Mama says anyway), and most prominently, he's a good friend. When a sick Chekov asks him to cover for him and give an interview to the CEO of Grayson Incorporated, he agrees. What he didn't agree to (although he's definitely not complaining) was the intensity and attention of the mysterious Mr. Grayson- a Vulcan with a Human last name and a penchant for staring into his soul.

1. Top 3 favorite female characters?
Jadzia Dax
Ro Laren
Guinan
2. Top 3 favorite male characters?
Dr McCoy
Spock
Picard
3. Top 3 least favorite characters?
Dr Pulaski
Kai Winn
Eddington
4. Favorite alien species?
Klingon (I may own a Bat’Leth that may or may not be hanging on my wall)
5. Episode plot you wish they had handled differently?
Basically all of S7 DS9 and The Outcast (TNG)
6. Character you feel a show could have done without?
Pulaski. She was awful and added literally nothing to the show.
7. Who would make up your crew dream team?
McCoy, Spock, Picard, Barclay, Dax, and Worf.
8. Which captain would you most want to serve under?
Picard
9. Which episode plot do you prefer?
     a. Time traveling to the past or dealing with time travelers from the future?
     b. Going undercover to spy on enemies or going undercover to explore pre-warp planets?
    c. Holodeck malfunction or space anomaly?
    d. Ship being taken over or being stranded on a planet?
    e. Rapid aging or de-aging?
    f. Diplomatic negotiations or all out battle?
10. Which alien pet would you most want for your own?
Cardassian Riding Hound
11. Top 3 OTPs?
Gashir
Worf/Jadzia
Scotty/Uhura
12. Top 3 NOTPs?
Kira/Odo
Picard/Vash
Worf/Troi
13. A ship you wish had been canon and why?
Gashir. Having an actual gay couple that wasn’t just queerbaiting or “Bury Your Gays”
14. A ship you wish hadn’t been canon and why?
Odo and Kira. The whole thing was just so forced and weird and no. Just no. And Odo spending a creepily long time pining over Kira like a weirdo was so... gross.
15. Top 3 favorite alien crewmembers?
Spock
Jadzia
Worf
16. If you could steal the basic plot of an episode for one show and apply to another which would you choose?
Really any of the Mirror stuff applied to TNG. I’m so annoyed we didn’t get any Mirror Picard.
17. What role would you have aboard a starship?
If I lived in the Trek verse, why the fuck would I join Starfleet when you can travel space on your own??
18. If you had to fight a character who would you choose?
Maddox. I want to punch that asshole in his stupid face.
19. You can undo one plot point, which do you choose?
All the Pah Wraith shit with Dukat.
20. Which piece of technology do you wish existed in reality?
Replicators.
21. What kind of stories do you hope the new show does?
Some Star Trek ones would be nice. I don’t know what garbage they think they’re doing, but that train wreck isn’t Star Trek.
22. Would you rather serve on a starship or a space station?
Neither.
23. Favorite tropes?
I’m skipping this one.
24. Which character do you relate to the most?
Reg Barclay
25. Favorite villain(s)?
Gul Dukat. He’s my precious garbage angel.
26. Which alien hybrid offspring are you most interested in seeing?
I really wanted Worf and Jadzia to get a family together.
27. What do you wish they had handled differently?
All of S7 of DS9, or as we call it - the bad ending.
28. Character(s) you want to cosplay as?
T’Pau
29. Favorite and least favorite episodes?
Favourite - Civil Defense (DS9)
Least Favourite - Sub Rosa (TNG)
30. Something you wish you could delete from canon?
Pulaski.
31. A crossover with another show/movie/book/ect, that you’d want to see?
I’d really just like Galaxy Quest and Orville to be ST Canon
32. F/M/K.
Dukat/Barclay/Pulaski
33. Whose twitter feed would you most want to follow?
Data. I think it would be endlessly entertaining.
34. What do you think *insert character*’s tumblr would be full of?
Garak’s secret tumblr would just be a lot of fashion reblogs, vague blogging shade about friends and coworkers, and odd posts that may or may not be coded spy messages (but who’s to say, really?)
35. A minor character you wish had become a main character?
Reg and Garak. They are in surprisingly few episodes.
36. A social issue you hope the new show tackles and how?
I hope the new show fucks off forever. Can it cover that?
37. Character A and Character B get into a fight, who wins?
ngl, watching anyone try to fight Data is funny af.
38. *Insert crew here* is thrown back in time to *insert time period here*, how do they handle it, which fashion trends do they pick up, who threatens the timeline the most, who is saddest when they have to leave, who is most knowledgeable, who stands out the most, ect?
Look, just watch the episode of the Orville that covers this.
39. You have to relocate to a planet other than Earth, which do you choose?
Risa
40. If you got a trek inspired tattoo what would it be?
I have two. Leonard Nimoy signed my arm and I had it tattooed on, and I also have “live long”/”and prosper” tattooed along the sides of my middle and ring ringers.
41. Which episode(s) creeped out/scared you the most?
Spider Reg in Genisis was fucked up.
42. Which episode(s) made you cry?

43. Order of shows from most to least favorite?
TOS
TNG
DS9
Orville
Galaxy Quest
TAS
44. If *insert crew* ended up in the modern day what would amaze them the most?
Well, the fact that the Eugenics wars didn’t happen would probably come as a shcok.
45. Which alien culture would you most want to live in/would feel most comfortable?
Trill maybe.
46. If they rebooted *insert show here* who out of modern day actors would you pick to play the main characters?
STOP. REBOOTING. SHIT.
47. An unpopular opinion you have?
Disco is garbage and it’s not Star Trek.
48. Sort the crew of *insert show here* into Hogwarts houses.
I’m just going with TOS, TNG, and DS9 and I’ll do as many as I feel like.
Gryffindor - Kirk, Scotty, Riker, Worf, Sisko, Kira, Nog
Ravenclaw - McCoy, Spock, Uhura, Picard, Jadzia, Odo, Julian
Hufflepuff - Sulu, Chekov, Crusher, Data, Geordi, Reg, Jake, Rom
Slytherin - Chapel, Troi, Wesley, Garak, Dukat, Quark

I don’t really have one.
50. A random headcanon?
Garak absolutely has that secret tumblr and it is SO SALTY.

I was tagged by @annieanhworld, thank you <3!
RULES: Tag nine people you want to get to know better
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: In a (long-distance) relationship, 0% influenced by societal pressure because being in a relationship is not mandatory in order to ‘be whole’, people, don’t listen to the media ;) (yes, my feminist self needs to put that as a disclaimer xD)
FAVORITE COLOUR(S): Red (especially a bright red or burgundy), blue (especially jewel blues like royal, cobalt or TARDIS ;), also navy and turquoise), green (once again, especially jewel greens like peridot, grass and emerald, and sea-green), purple (both red-purple and dark cool-purple), orange (mostly amber and burnt orange), black, reddish-brown,...Love most colours but white, pink, neons and pastels, really xD Fave metallic colours are copper, bronze and silver.
LIPSTICK OR CHAPSTICK: I like both, but I’m officially a lip-balm/chapstick junkie, have to have at least two chapsticks in my bag at all times xD
LAST SONG I LISTENED TO:  'Dr. McCoy’, S.P.O.C.K (which is an amazing geeky song that’s also really catchy, so yeah xD). Also Pink Floyd, ‘Comfortably Numb’...again xD.
LAST MOVIE I WATCHED: Doctor Strange
TOP 3 FICTIONAL CHARACTERS: Are you kidding, just three??? I always cheat with this question, in every tag xDD  I can give you a small list, that’s the best I can do xD: Jaylah, Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy, Spock, (how about the whole Trek bridge crew xD?), Sherlock Holmes, Mrs Hudson, Missy, the Doctor (Twelve at the moment), River Song, Clara Oswald, Professor McGonagall, Galadriel,...There’s so many, I just can’t choose, it’s impossible, sorry xDD And I guess Bill Potts is going to join the top list soon as well :D She’s a cutie and I love her already <3
There, I cheated again xD  Sorry xD
TOP 3 SHIPS: This one’s also going to be difficult, but for the opposite reasons...I’m not really that much of a shipper, I’m more interested in the friendship factor when it comes to fandoms, so out of the blue I honestly can’t say I ship anything and I can’t really list anything :S xD. I mean, I do read various ships when it comes to fanfics, but I mostly go there for the friendship feels, I’m not really super invested in specific ships...Also because I’m really, really picky when it comes to relationship standards, regarding equality factors and feminism requirements. I hardly ever find a fictional relationship that fulfills all those requirements 90+% so I can say I ‘ship it’ in an invested way :/
So I don’t know...I used to like Tenrose, been a while since I’ve read anything about that ship and I really don’t like the problematic twist with Tentoo. 12/River I also like (I find 11/River too problematic, though, there’s a hell of a lot of lack of communication, among other things. 11 behaves like an entitled egocentric f*boy most of the time, imo, and River deserves way better :/ *just my opinion*). Everlark is fairly healthy. Season 3-4 Sherlolly, which is healthier and more egalitarian, is also OK. I mostly like Spuhura, and I’ve also read some Spirk fanfics which were quite nice. Spones can sometimes work for me, too (although I prefer to read the whole Triumvirate as platonic deep friendships)...There’s characters I refuse to ship with anyone, who are 100% awesome on their own, such as Elsa, Merida or Jaylah. I don’t like ships with lots of traditional gender roles and societal clichés and tropes, such as glorification of marriage/family+gender roles, and patriarchal chivalry in dates. I also stay away from problematic, unhealthy relationships because that’s really not my thing, especially if they’re heteronormative, but in general as well - Hell NOPE to things such as Reylo or Belle/Beast, not to mention the abomination that is Twilight/50 Shades >_<  Hell NOPE to anything abusive, possessive, or with emotional manipulation around. I don’t find that remotely ‘romantic’ or attractive or interesting.
In short, I’m not a ‘team anything’ about ships as long as the fanfic sparks my interest, it’s mostly about the emotional connection for me, and also really important that there’s not problematic power imbalances.
Oh, look, I cheated again and you got a long feminist paragraph xD
BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:
Just finished Wonder Women by Sam Maggs today. In my to-read queue we have Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, a Doctor Who comic, and the Rogue One novel.
I tag @selfmadeelf, @diana-de-egara-89, @white-dress-purple-shirt ,  @cosplayconspiracy, @ladystarkindler, @elanor-lothlorien and anyone else who wants to do it. Tagged blogs, feel free to ignore this if you don’t want to do it, obviously :)!  And sorry for the loooong parts of text :S xD

Oh, God! Question meme! A really long one! Run! Hide!
Tagged by @ajaysims. *points* It's his fault! His! Not mine! ;)
This is really long, since it's a synthesis of two of these questions memes and I have verbal diarrhea. So, I cut.
Name: Katrina
Nicknames: Most RL people other than my kids and grandkids call me Kat because one syllable is less than three. :) Simmers call me iCad because that's what I chose to call myself when I started participating in the community. Hubby calls me Kitten. Kids call me Ma, usually in exasperated/long-suffering tones. Grandkids call me Mimi because I hate the usual things that grandmothers are called because they're associated with old people. I may be old, but I'm not old, y'know? :)
Zodiac sign: Taurus, but astrology is still bullshit.
Height: A hair less than 6'0/about 182cm. And very underweight due to digestive/metabolic issues mostly because of a malfunctioning liver. (No, not from alcohol. From having had asymptomatic Hepatits C that I most likely got from a blood transfusion in the early 80s, before they screened donated blood for that. It sucks, y'all. Cherish your liver. Baby it. Seriously. Stop with the alcohol. Just stop. Do weed instead.)
Orientation: In experience/practice: A Kinsey 2. In terms of the kind of person who attracts me: People with IQs over 130. I really, truly don't care what you look like, what gender you identify as, or what sex organs you have or don't have. Smart is seriously sexy. So, I'm sapiosexual. :)
Ethnicity: Whitey-white-white, yay! :| Glow-in-the-dark white. I-start-burning-in-the-sun-in-30-seconds white. Damn-near-albino white. Also, mostly of Welsh descent. Only sort of half-second-generation American on one side; my paternal grandma was one of those horrible immigrants who took a job away from a Real American(TM). She was even a somewhat illegal one, for a few months. But she was white and British so I guess that's OK.
(Sorry, as a person married to a man whose mum -- who is awesome -- was born in Mexico and who came here legally with her family when she was 7 and is a citizen but she still gets shit these days because she’s “a Mexican,” I've sorta come to really hate the kind of people who tend to call themselves Real Americans(TM).)
Favorite fruit: Okra, especially when part of aloo bhindi masala, an Indian dish. Okra IS a fruit. Really. Look it up. Also, tomatoes.
Favorite season: Autumn, when everything is dying. MWAHAHAHAHAH!
Favorite book series: Still Sharon Kay Penman's "Welsh trilogy." Also, though not really a series, per se: The Star Trek novels that were published in the 80s. They got mostly stupid after that, but there were some gems that were published in the mid-80s, before The Next Generation was a thing.
Favorite flower: Calla lilies. Usually used in funeral arrangements, along with Easter lilies, yay. Flowers of death! MWAHAHAH!
Favorite scent: Lilacs. Lavender. Honeysuckle. And this "rain" scent scented candle. It's so clean and fresh and not-perfumey, yet it manages to drown out the brine smell that eventually permeates everything when you live close to the shore...
Favorite color: Greens. All shades, although I prefer the yellower shades, especially the darker ones like army green. Also, orange.
Favorite animal: The spotted hyena, but I already extolled their many virtues the last time I did this list, so I'll refrain. Also, elephants.
Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa: Hell no, maybe, and yes please (if it's vegan), respectively.
Average sleep hours: Sleep? What is this word? *just came off a 38-hour work "day" a few hours ago, and I'm too wired to sleep.* YAY SHOWBIZ! :| But generally, when life isn't crazy, usually about 6 hours per 24 hour period. And I'm nocturnal, so those six hours are usually between about 0900 and about 1500. :)
Cat or dog person: Both person. And llama person. And alpaca person. And horse person. And snake person. And spider person.
Favorite fictional characters: Spock. (Well, actually, pretty much the entire original Star Trek crew except, well, Kirk. Whom I hate. With a passion. I really like Abrams-Kirk, though. Oddly enough. So it might just be that I can't stand Shatner...) The Cardassian characters from Star Trek: DS9, but especially Garak. Also, Julian Bashir and Miles O'Brien from DS9. Jack O'Neill and Rodney McKay from the Stargate franchise. KITT from the original Knight Rider. And Jayne Cobb from Firefly. (Hi, @eulaliasims!)
Number of blankets you sleep with: I'm in SoCal at the moment. No blankets because I tend to sleep in the warm part of the day. And when I do sleep at night, there's a furnace-like husband and a large, furnace-like dog in the bed with me. Blankets would be overkill.
Dream trip: Still Antarctica. Or space. But Antarctica is more likely at this point. ;)
Blog created: I think it was December of 2013. Maybe November. Ahhhh, those halcyon pre-2016 years...
Number of followers: Right now? 1443. It might change in an hour or so.
Time right now: About 0220 Pacific Time, Wednesday, March 22. One month and one day until my birthday. I expect presents, people! (Nah, I kid. Birthdays after 50 don't mean much. Hell, birthdays after 18 -- or 21, nowadays, I guess -- don't mean much. :) )
Last thing you googled: I was looking for some textures to use for some recolors I'm working on during downtimes at work.
Fave music artist: In terms of non-classical stuff: Queen, always and forever. But I also really like the Barenaked Ladies and other such alternative groups from the 90s as well as 80s New Wave stuff. Also, Metallica. In terms of "classical" stuff: Beethoven, always and forever.
Song stuck in my head: Beethoven's 8th piano sonata, 3rd movement. I was playing it at work today...on my cello. I'm working on arranging the entire sonata for solo cello...starting with the 3rd movement because I do better working on things backward. (Since I'd be willing to bet most people don't know the tune off the top of their head, here's Dubravka Tomsic playing it on youtube, if you're curious.
Last movie I watched: Star Trek Beyond. I liked it better than Into Darkness but not as well as the first Abrams-verse one...
Last TV show I watched: I have Stargate Atlantis paused on my computer screen at the moment. I plan to work on furnishing/decorating the house I put up for download tonight when I'm done with this, and I usually have a TV show playing while I build/decorate stuff in my game. :)
What I’m wearing right now: A pair of black sweatpants and a Telluride Daily Planet T-shirt. (That's the local newspaper at home. :) ) Boring white underwear. My fleece-lined moccasins because my feet are always cold.
The kind of stuff I post: Sims stuff, duh! At least on this blog. :) The other blog has the ranty/political stuff.
Why did I choose my url: Because I like to point and laugh at silly internet drama and because I own llamas, and I added dingdang because dramallama was taken and because of this song.
Gender: According to every one of those silly "What Gender Are You?" online quizzes, I am male, mainly because I'm a self-confident, argumentative, assertive, non-empathetic asshole who doesn't do "feelings." Yet, I have girl plumbing. Go figure. Meh, it's all just social conditioning and expectations, anyway, so...I rebel. I reject gender labeling and their associated roles.
Hogwarts house: I took a quiz once and it said Gryffindor. I've never read Harry Potter or seen any of the movies except one of them during an airplane flight...and I fell asleep during it, so...Yeah, I don't know what it means to be Gryffindor. Don't much care, either.
Pokémon team: Don't know anything about Pokemon, either.
Lucky number: 13 because I am anti-superstition. (Well, except when it comes to white pianos, of course, but I have hard evidence that they are evil, so it’s not superstition. ;) ) Or 42. Take your pick.
Dream job: I once said "Not having one" but then followed it up with "but that's boring." So, I decided to take on some work through June. And you know what? I'm gonna go back to "Not having one." I just need to find some volunteer work to keep me occupied for a few hours a day. Not for 38-hour "days," though. :p
Relationship status: I is married to my second husband. He's cute. And a lot younger than me, woooooooo! First marriage wasn't nearly so fun, though. The only good thing that came of it was my kids.
Pets: Oh, God. Most of them are back home in Colorado (where I have a 39-acre ranch) while I'm here in California, but:
A herd of llamas and alpacas, about 50 total at the moment, but "unpacking" season is approaching, so that number will be going up to about 65 soon. 5 horses 2 nanny goats...which actually belong to a neighbor but they're currently housed on my property, so...they count! 8 dogs 5 cats...although sadly that will probably be going down to four soon because the 18-year-old whose had health problems all her life is currently quite sick and likely won't be getting better. :( Also, there are a ton of barn cats, but they don't really count as pets. A flock of chickens. 1 rooster, the rest hens. 1 California kingsnake 5 tarantulas, various species 8 dragonfly nymphs. I think 2 will become dragonflies this year because I've had them for a few years now...
Last song you listened to: Beethoven's 5th piano concerto, for somewhat sentimental reasons.
Favorite TV Show: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I love the original series a lot, too, but DS9 surpassed it in my book.
First Fandom: Star Trek, of course. I remember declaring that I would marry Spock when I grew up. I was 3 at the time, in 1967, watching the episode "Amok Time" (in which Spock almost gets married) in its original run. We'd only just gotten a color TV a few months before, so it was REALLY COOL. I also wrote a crapton of fanfic in the 70s/80s and a bit in the 90s. Even published a 'zine in the 80s. It was expensive as hell back then but SO MUCH FUN!
Randomly Tagging People I Don’t Think I’ve Tagged For This Thing Before: @randommindtime (It's what you get for following me!), @yandereplumsim, @elfpuddle, @halousims, @nuttydazesublime, and @kayleigh-83. As always, feel free to ignore for whatever reason. :)

Eleven Questions Tag Game
Rules
1. Always post these rules
2. Answer the questions given by the person who tagged you
3. Write 11 questions of your own
4. Tag 11 people
Tagged by @mccoymostly
1. What’s your absolute favorite scene from any film?
Ah, crap. I watch very few movies, especially these last few decades. None stand out. Probably something from The Princess Bride.
2. What’s the most terrible book you’ve ever read?
I used to have a book blog (back when this was a new thing to do and publishers would send books to literally anyone). It’s a toss up between two books, one by an indie (I did not realize that when I agreed to review the book) and one from a major publisher from an author that had success in the film industry that must have blinded the acquiring editor.
The indie book was apparently by the guy who invented the self-check out (so he claimed). It was fiction but with a lot of technical mumbo jumbo that should have been cut, the villains were unbelievably dumb or clueless, the hero was unbelievably lucky and random chick suddenly climbed all over the hero with absolutely no lead up whatsoever to show she had any romantic interest in him.
The other book was a galley of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee that just had agonizing similes and not much of a story.
I’d put 50 Shades of Grey and Twilight on the list, but I couldn’t even make it past the first page of either of those so I can’t really say I gave them a fair trial. :P
3. Star Trek NoTP, and why?
Chekov and McCoy AOS. I have trouble with Chekov + almost anyone on the crew just because he’s stuck in my mind as an underage whiz kid (obviously in later movies, he is of age). I have particular with the grumpiest oldest guy and the cheeriest youngest guy getting together ... it just doesn’t compute for me and I can’t suspend my disbelief.
4. The four most badass humans to ever walk the earth? If you’re feeling it, I’d love to hear your justification. ;)
Ah, crap (again). I’d have to do some research as I’m not big on history and I don’t have that kind of time.
5. The fictional character you identify most with, and why?
It used to be Spock, but now it’s more McCoy. Spock was bullied and tried to hide his feelings despite having lots of them. McCoy is sarcasm and deprecation with no patience for idiocy. Stages of life I guess. ;P
6. If you could hang out with one person for a day, living or dead, who would you pick, and why?
Hmm, not much for history, as I’ve said. Probably my BFF, who moved away after she got married and had kids. Probably haven’t seen her for at least a decade.
7. What character, from any source, do you think gives the best kisses, and why?
Henry Morgan. Dude is immortal and a doctor, he must have picked up some skills over the centuries.
Tumblr media
8. Who is your favorite artist (any medium; this can be interpreted broadly), and why?
Probably Jann Arden and Sarah McLachlan.
9. What’s your favorite theoretical crossover? In other words, what characters, from different fandoms, would you like to see interact, or who would you like to see thrown into a different universe? I hope this question makes sense, guys.
I ... actually hate crossovers (and AU episodes of TV series).
10. Who is your favorite iconic scientist, and which of their contributions do you find most significant?
Kary Mullis’ biography is an excellent read (Dancing in the Mindfield). He invented PCR. Further back it would be Rosalind Franklin, the crystallographer who imaged DNA. I’d really like a timeline where she didn’t die of cancer and wasn’t therefore swept under the rug by Watson and Crick. I’d like to know, FROM HER, WTF actually went on. I’ve dealt with male scientists and I don’t buy Watson or Crick’s narrative for a minute--especially Watson, who is a particularly racist and misogynist shit.
11. If you could remake any movie, in any way you want, what movie would you pick, and what would you change?
Star Trek Into Darkness and I would change ... everything. The only redeeming feature of that movie was Scotty and his absolute refusal to have anything to do with the whole thing because of principles.
The whole Khan thing would be gone (Because was it really fucking necessary to crib from the second TOS movie onto the second AOS movie? There weren’t any stories to tell in the AOS universe that flowed from the first movie?).
Pike wouldn’t die (if they wanted to get him out of Kirk’s way career-wise, there are plenty of other ways they could have done it without killing him off just to try to strengthen Kirk’s backstory). Kirk wouldn’t die and get resurrected (it only worked in ST:TWOK because Spock was dead at the end of the movie and stayed that way until the next movie so the audience got to ponder that for a good long while, not ponder it for a whole 15 (?) minutes within a single movie).
Bonus, because Anna lives to break rules
If you could make any contribution to any field (cure any illness, make any discovery, invent any technology, write any book or create any art, be remembered for anything), what would it be, and why?
Hmm. I’d say cure cancer but that’s easily a hundred different actual diseases (don’t even get me started on how irretrievably broken the “war on cancer” is or the biomedical research funding system is) or dementia (but again, that’s multiple diseases).
I am not writing 11 questions or tagging 11 people. :P

It's so interesting watching Khan on TOS and then thinking about The Wrath of Khan. Spock had deep contempt for him and all the white dudes sit around laughing about how they can still admire Khan while opposing his ideals and good 'ol Spock is like: illogical. Also, Khan's relationship with Maria is so 50 Shades of Gray manipulative abuser it's not even funny.

In defense of fanfiction
I’ve been thinking about fanfiction lately, (really I’ve been thinking that I should really be taking some of this time to write more, but that’s another post) AO3 just had their yearly fundraiser so of course the old discourse over the site and its history was dragged up again and then Sarah had brought it up this morning and well, I have a lot of strong feelings on the subject. Let’s start with a little personal background: I have been reading and writing fanfic since the late 90’s. It started out as something silly my best friend introduced me to and we would sit in her mother’s computer room and giggle over ‘speculative fan fictions’ and participate on months-long roleplay scenarios on chat boards and take turns passing notebooks full of handwritten stories back and forth which were every bit as terrible as you’d think two 14-year-old girls could come up with. Unfortunately, we were in the Vampire Chronicles fandom so we had a front-row seat for the Anne Rice and her lawyer's debacle that will from here on out be referred to as “The Dark Times”. We watched our friends’ work get pulled, our RP sites close down, we feared that we’d get a cease and desist letter, we hid our notebooks and dreamed up our stories exclusively verbally.  I was deeply ashamed of my secret love of fanfic for years. I kept writing, but I kept it secret, I kept reading it but would never admit to it. Fanfiction was something shameful, taboo, some terrible sin akin to watching porn, and not the good socially acceptable kind of porn. But time moved on and fandom moved on and fanfiction started to be more acceptable. I joined Fanfiction.net, I wrote some stuff on Livejournal (although I still kept it set to private). I read A LOT of fanfiction, jumping fandoms, and leaving reviews. People I admired came out as liking and writing fanfiction. Of course, then the purges hit. Strikethrough and the like. I’m not going to get into that here, because that’s a rant all its own. Anyway, those were also some dark days as fandom searched for somewhere to land. I stumbled over Archive of our own a few years ago and I aggressively support them whenever I can because they fight for the fandom. Now I speak out in defense of fanfiction whenever possible. I’ve attended panels at conventions about fanfiction, I support and share posts about it from my favorite authors, I let everyone know that I’m proud of my fanfic (although I still don’t post it, that’s because I tend not to finish things and I don't’ want to get someone excited for something I know I’m going to abandon in a month, not because I’m ashamed.). So let’s talk over some points because Sarah brought up a good point today. Why is fanfiction such a shameful thing in the fandom community, and in the writing community? One of the people on my friends list who I admire and is a professional, published author once rolled their eyes and scoffed when I said that I wanted to go to the fanfiction panel at a convention. Yet, no other facet of fandom is treated this way. I brought this up on Sarah’s post and I’m going to reiterate it here. Fan artists are not scoffed at, people flock to their tables in artist’s alley. Fan-made comics and doujinshi have led to careers writing and drawing comics and scripts for the same series their fanwork was based on. No professional costumer or prop maker sneers at cosplayers, in fact, there are now professional cosplayers. Fans wait in line for hours to watch masquerade skits at conventions. Fan-dubs like Dragonball Z Abridged and Nescaflowne are hugely popular and have led to professional voice acting gigs and production studios. But if an author dares to mention that they got their start in fanfiction? The horror, the outrage, the hate mail. Yet so much of our media could arguably be called fanfiction. Dante’s Inferno? John Milton’s Paradise Lost? The Aeneid? Classics? Yes. Fanfiction? Also yes. Joyce’s Ulysses is just an AU of the Odyssey. Anything written about or based on myths? Anything involving King Arthur? Sherlock Holmes? Shakespear...Oh you can cry adaptation all you want. Let’s face it if it’s written by some old white guy it’s literature and a classic and an innovative reimagining but really it’s just fanfic and it’s everywhere. West Side Story is a fanfic of a fanfic since Shakespeare based Romeo and Juliet off a poem by a similar name. My Fair Lady? Pygmalion AU. Hamilton? Real Person Song Fic! 50 Shades series, Mortal Instruments, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Jean Rhys' Wide Sargasso Sea, hell there are literally hundreds of published Jane Austen fanfictions. John Gardner’s Grendel is a retelling of Beowolf. The Wiz, Wicked and the rest of Gregory Maguire’s books? The Wizard of Oz doesn’t enter public domain until 2035. The Magnificent Seven? Kurosawa called and he wants his seven samurai back, he’d also like to reclaim Yojimbo from A Fist Full of Dollars. Speaking of tv, how about Black Sails? It’s a fanfiction prequel to Treasure Island. Any comic book not written by the original creator. Any book series based on Star Wars, Star Trek, Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft, etc. I could go on all day. So why is it, when so much of our popular culture consists of what basically boils down to fanfiction, that fanfiction is seen as a shameful indulgence, as “cheating”, as trash?Part of it boils down to sex. Read any article that brings up fanfiction and there will invariably be a line where the author distances themself by saying something along the lines of they don’t personally read it, or how slash fic isn’t their thing but to each their own. (Both quotes from some of the sites I pulled the above list from) A lot of people seem to think that fanfiction is just porn, and while yes there is some fanfiction that is porn and some of it is very good, the same can be said for regular fiction as well. People don’t blush and giggle over Lord of the Rings, yet when I say that I’ve read fanfic that’s longer than Tolkien’s trilogy I may as well be talking about how I read Aragorn/Boromir slash fic regardless of what the actual subject matter was.  Yes, there’s sex in fanfiction. A lot of it is gay sex. You can read Lolita in school but Harry Potter fanfic? Gasp, think of the children! Even if that fanfic happens to be about what if Petunia loved Harry like a son instead of pushing him away and neglecting him. There is some really fantastic fan fiction out there. Some of it has sex, some of it doesn't. Some of it deals with queer characters and experiences, some of it doesn’t. There’s nothing inherently wrong with erotica and it’s an entirely separate issue. Not every fanfiction is a 50 Shades-eque erotic rewrite of Twilight, and even if they were, so what?  A lot of fanfiction has to do with wish fulfillment. You want to know what happens next, or what would happen if this had happened instead, or if there was this character. You want to see someone like you in your favorite fandom. I had wanted to adventure with Bilbo when I was a kid. I wanted to go on adventures and fight and ride dinosaurs. These desires don’t go away just because we grow up. I got into roleplay and larp and gaming because I still enjoy make-believe. I write for a lot of the same reasons. Everyone wants to be the main character. Fanfiction gives you that chance. You can write yourself into a story, you can write someone that’s like you, you can write someone that’s nothing like you but what you want to be. So, let’s discuss our old friend Mary Sue. She gets trotted out as an example every time someone brings up fanfiction (or any uppity female character ever). Mary Sue was born in the 60’s. She is an actual character from a Star Trek Original Series fanfiction. Yes, fanfiction existed in the 60’s. Mary Sue was the brightest and prettiest girl to come out of Starfleet, she managed to be in all the right places at the right times to save the ship and capture the heart of Spock. Self insert fics and Mary Sues are at the heart of why we should be terribly ashamed of our fanfiction habit. Except, what was Luke Skywalker if not George Lucas’ self insert Marty Stu? There are countless male characters that are as bad or worse than your typical Mary sue and they are never called out for it. Seanan brought this up in a post once about her character October Daye, her editor had said that the character was too competent, too cool, and that it was unrealistic and she should tone it down. She had him replace the character’s name with “Harry Dresden” and reread the story and suddenly it was fine. There are a great many articles and essays about our friend Mary Sue and I implore you to read some of them. She is not the enemy we make her out to be. Fanfiction, on the rare occasion that it is accepted, is seen as some sort of training wheels, or baby’s first writing. It’s amateurish, it’s juvenile, it’s just not very good. If we are not ashamed of it, then it’s expected that we are only using it as a starting point to hone our writing and move on to professional published works. It’s either that or something terribly self-indulgent that should be kept to ourselves. Some fanfic writers do go on to become “real” writers. Seanan McGuire has always been very open about how her agent first approached her after reading some of her Buffy/Faith fanfiction. Some “real” writers also write fanfiction. Neil Gaiman won a Hugo for his Chronicles of Narnia Fanfic. Ursula Vernon and Mercedes Lackey write fanfiction in their spare time. Some fanfiction writers never become published authors, not everyone wants to. Some are happy to have a dozen 150k fics about their favorite fandom, or maybe just one 500k epic, some, myself included, may only have one short fic posted somewhere. There is nothing that says that you have to use your hobby to turn a profit. (By the way, for reference, War and Peace is 561,304 words, Dune is 187,240 words, you cannot make the argument that fanfic writers don’t put time into their craft when they have more words than Tolstoy under their belt.)Some of the ‘training wheels’ analogy is true. Fanfic is a terrific gateway to writing. It teaches pacing, plot, character development, how to take criticism. If I ever do write something professionally I will not be nearly as afraid of the red pen as I am of bad reviews. Anonymous readers are the most ruthless critics. May the literary gods preserve you from ever having your fanfic read aloud as an example of how terrible and ‘cringy’ fanfiction can be. There is a lot of fanfiction out there that is written by teenage girls, and it reads like it was written by a teenage girl, but the only way to get better at something is to practice. Fanfiction allows budding writers to do that. There are no rules, no one standing at the gates to bar entry, and entire communities of people willing to give advice and commentary. Sometimes it’s less helpful than harmful, but there is something about posting a new fic and waiting for that first ‘like’ or ‘kudos’ or a review. There’s something to be said for instant gratification. I have read a lot of really terrible fanfic. I have slogged through stuff that would make Mary Sue herself cringe. I have read about the ½ vampire, ½ werewolf, ½ fairy long lost princess. I have read grammar that would make your eyes bleed. Not all of it has been confined to fan works. I have read fanwork that has had me convulsing with silent laughter to the point that I wondered if I would die. Dialog that was ten times better than anything I had read in a professional novel. Fanfiction should not be judged by its worst offenders. We don’t hold Dune to the same standard as Twilight. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is not terrible and cringy because 50 Shades of Grey overuses the phrase “Oh my.” There is some absolutely terrible fanfic out there and there is some pretty terrible published fic as well, but we don’t hold that against most novelists, so why do we hold it against fanfiction writers?I guess that brings us to the elephant in the fandom. Sexism. Fanfiction has historically been something written by and for young women and there is nothing more shameful than something liked by a young woman. Boybands? The color pink? Horse Girl books and Sparkly Vampires? Society hates them. We mock them. It is not acceptable to enjoy them. Sound familiar? How many times is something considered cool until a woman decides that she likes it? We as a society hate women and hate the things they enjoy and we hate teenage girls the most. Think of how much people hated selfies and duckface and instagram. How much hate was directed at Britney Spears, One Direction, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber? Whether it has a basis in something or not, we hate them, we make jokes, we share the memes. We write them off as having no substance, as being stupid, not worth our time. Belittling of teenage girls for their interests and fandoms isn't a new phenomenon. Remember Mary Sue? Not only that, but a lot of fanfiction is gay. Women and gays are still the punchline to a lot of jokes and we can’t ignore that that plays a big part in people’s hatred of fanfiction, even if it’s not on purpose. Fanfiction has always been a bastion for people that couldn’t find stories about them in popular fiction. A lot of mainstream main characters are straight guys. A lot of fanfiction main characters are young women or gay men. Now, I admit that I’m oversimplifying this, and especially in recent years as it is becoming safer for people to come out as other genders and queer and as having mental illness or not being neurotypical, you are seeing more of that reflected in the fanfiction community. I don’t want anyone to think that I am purposefully leaving anyone out of this. The fanfiction community has not always been so great at being inclusive of people of color or transgender, it’s getting better, but I’m not going to stand here and pretend we’ve always been perfect. In the last several years I’ve seen a lot more inclusion. As I said, fanfiction has always been a home to the “Other”, as that expands to include more individuals so too does the community. Fanfics provide us with a place to work through issues and present perspectives that we don’t get to see anywhere else, without having to create an entire world from scratch. It’s accessible to everyone. I’ve spent the better part of an afternoon researching and writing this. I hope that I was at least partially coherent and I got you to at least take a look at why you feel the way you feel about fanfiction. I’m not sure if I exactly got across the points I was trying for, there’s a lot more eloquent, well thought out arguments out there from more knowledgeable people. Check out Seanan McGuire, she’s got a lot to say on the subject.
