You pointed out something so true. Some that are adamant at admitting T/anner and M/ary and are “just friends” comes from the fact they don’t think someone as fit as T/anner could date her. They cannot fathom in their mind how he could date someone that doesn’t fit the “standard”. And like, they’re basically the same people and there’s a reason they have been best friends for so long. Like, it’s been on my mind for a while and you hit the nail on it.

I sadly believe one of the reasons they don’t confirm their relationship is because of the increasing hate she’s been getting. Like, some people on this fandom already hates her for playing Sam (because of their own misogynistic ideas) and project that onto M/ary, but she’s been getting massively bullied for a while now because she gained some weight and doesn’t dress or acts to feed this celebrity idea. TikTok is unbearable but it has started to migrate to Instagram. It’s been terrible to watch. And I think it’s also the reason why she quit social media and isn’t as open with her life anymore.

I saw some videos of her at the red carpet for CK 6 and I hope I’m wrong but she seemed a bit uncomfortable and it breaks my heart because she’s a beautiful woman with eyes to die for and it’s so refreshing to see a healthy standard body on TV because we are so often feed those “beauty standards” that don’t represent real woman. Plus, she’s on her late 20’s. We don’t lose the weight as easy as before and she’s a type 1 diabetic which means losing weight is already hard. She cannot get into a crazy diet to fit people’s beauty standards.

It’s very sad but a big majority of the CK fandom act like incels on the internet.

I come from a time primarily when, if you wanted to insult someone - you had to do it to their face. Now people don’t have to atone for their bad behaviour unless caught. Not saying people weren’t cruel then either but it makes a difference. People can be ruthless regardless, but the internet has made it more anonymous and acceptable.

i started writing this and it ended up way longer than anticipated. apologies in advance.

a movie called "you're so not invited to my bat mitzvah" has been on netflix's top 10 for the past couple of weeks now. i thought, "i wonder what this is", looked it up, saw it was review bombed, and thought to myself. great. now i have no choice to watch this.

i'll just write my review of this, and then get into what i found odd about the review bombing.

this is the latest adam sandler production for netflix. it's a coming of age story, kind of a modern take on "are you there god? it's me, margaret?" sort of thing. deals with all the difficulties of modern life – phones, tiktoks, hip rabbis, etc – and the eternal difficulties of life – puberty, getting your priorities in order, why god allows evil, hip rabbis, etc – in a way that's both familiar and specific. it's familiar in part because sandler casts people from his regular orbit, but also a very specific movie because it's about a very specific milieu. which is to say, upper middle class jewish girls and their parents, and tension between a religious event which involves a lot of intellectual preparation for an adult responsibility, and the consumerism involved with bar/bat mitzvah inflation in families that can afford to celebrate on that scale.

i found the specificity charming, especially in the depictions of the protagonist (played by sunny sandler, adam sandler's daughter) and the various difficulties she has with her father (played by her irl dad). although, i'm grading on the netflix curve here, which i'd define as "was this a movie you can watch while you're looking at your phone and still be entertained by even though you're not paying close attention to" and it's pretty much that. i'd say a little bit better than average, because the performances of the young actors really nail it. sunny sandler is great in this. she's not afraid to come off as totally ridiculous, especially in one scene where she's wearing overdone makeup and trying to take selfies. she seems genuinely bereft when her friendship with her best friend unravels. her character does some things which are genuinely cruel, even by the standards of teen movie stuff, but she has a lot of potential as a physical comedian.

it's easy for a movie like this to be a total nepotism project, but it also does not work if sunny sandler isn't good in her role, and she is. and the kids who play her friends are also good in their roles.

another thing that i also found fascinating about this wasn't just the specificity of the jewish experience that's depicted in it, but also the specificity of the current situation where teenagers aren't just presenting themselves on their phones all the time, but in which they're recording each other on their phones all the time. we've all been cautioned about what we share online, but there isn't yet conventional wisdom about documentation we have of other people outside of, idk, "you shouldn't share other people's nudes". and it does a good job of blending a specific cultural milieu with a specific generational experience.

so. the review bombs. i think this might have gotten a lot of traction on tiktok, because a lot of the 1 star reviews are prefaced with "i am [12-14] and jewish and i didn't like this". i'm not here to pick on them, but a lot of them share a common gripe about it which is... i'll just pull some quotes from them:

"As a young woman, myself, I was extremely disappointed in the oversexualization and generally offensive depictions of teenagers (especially the girls) in this film."

"With the barbie movie just coming out, I thought we were past sexualising girls. But here comes along a movie AIMED AT KIDS and teaches them that incredibly revealing outfits and quite sexual pictures are correct and even possibly supported for kids!"

"I also noticed that it sexualized teenagers after the amount of times they said “hooking up” after reminding us that they are only 13 years old"

"Second off this show “shows off” 12 year olds in a very dirty way in some parts of the show and some parts are absolutely disgusting."

"Stereotypes, sexualising of 12 and 13 year olds, and teaching people that this is how Jews are"

i'm not going to be like "these dipshits in middle school do not understand the language of film, unlike me, a 28 year old woman who is very smart". but there's nothing remotely sexual in this movie. there's the scene where sunny sandler's character is taking trying to take IG type pictures with her friends, but the audience isn't invited to ogle at it. like, one of her friends is holding a floor lamp so it functions as a ring light, and the dialogue is, like, "how do i look?" "like your goldfish just died :/". and stuff like "they kissed and i heard he touched her underboob" is no more salacious than the sort of juvenile gossip that you'd find in an actual junior high school.

that all said, it's very jarring to me to hear people in that age group using "it sexualizes teenagers" in their critical vocabulary. i don't think that would even cross my mind when i'd be that young and watching a comedy. and i could be reading too much into it, but the ongoing moral panic about sex ed and kids seems like it's driving kids nuts just as much as it is adults.

all of this is a long winded way of saying, this culture war shitstorm has gotten a lot of coverage in terms of the parents who want to ban books, but maybe it'd be prudent for someone to pitch a piece that focuses on how this whole thing is impacting young people who are no doubt absorbing some of this through osmosis and tiktok.

My chest’s been hurting + I’ve been feeling weak the past few days idk what’s going on. I think it could partially be iron deficiency because I’ve just got the first hints of my period and the blood loss there would totally correspond w my recent weak spells but the chest pain idk. Actually I’m gonna write out every physical symptom which bothers me. I’ve lost lots of hair. These past two nights I’ve had trouble sleeping bc suddenly I get very sensorily aware like I can feel the uneven weight of my comforter and my skin touching itself and my breathing on my arm and whenever this has happened the solution for whatever reason has been eating a full meal + maybe putting on socks. I am hungry so often. have pain in my shoulder that I keep using tiger balm for even though it offers no lasting help simply bc I like the feeling and the smell. One of my boobs feels very dense and it’s one that’s been causing me problems since I was 17, I used to get ultrasounds done on it bc I had cysts with an unknown liquid inside and they didn’t grow so I stopped going but I almost feel like a hook feeling in it. Like it feels hooked onto me in a way that the other one doesn’t and I hate it. I always want to just clean it out and put in an implant which matches my other boob because not only is this one dense and prone to giving me health scares— it’s SMALLER than my good one. The thing is most of these symptoms don’t consistently exist, like, most of the time I’m fine, but right now I’m being hit w all of it and I’m annoyed. Also the tattoo artist I like hasn’t texted me back since I asked for her venmo (so I could pay the security deposit) but I think that’s more of a “Sundays are a social media/work-free day” type thing, I don’t blame her. Really excited about it though so I’m feeling impatient about securing the slot. Also, I wish it would just fucking cool down. I remember when autumn in SF meant looking at the frost on passing plants as my parents drove me to school.

Good things though: I’m knitting myself two sweaters for the winter, I’m still working on my more personal painting (and I have ideas for subsequent works— I want a little sketchbook or notebook to properly plan them out in but I hate all the sketch and notebooks I own), I like my job a whole lot. Knitting plans include finishing my sweaters (I might stop knitting my more intricate one when I leave the house because it means that people watch me and talk to me and I’m not into that), making my friend Somer a beanie, finishing my friend Janice’s legwarmer, making Janice and I matching tops, figuring out how to copy this gorgeous hand knit dress I saw on tiktok. I also plan to try finishing this crochet blanket I made 1/12 squares for a year ago so I can give it to my parents to “christen” their new house. I’ve been reminding myself more and more often lately to live instead of retreating into fantasy and self absorption. I’ve been better at talking to people. I’m allowing myself to properly be mildly sad about my failed relationship; like, not sobbing screaming heartbroken but moments of very mild grief. I’m better at breaking myself out of emotional slumps by getting productive (when I don’t feel sick, that is). I’m better at pacing myself when it comes to productivity so I don’t burn out and quit for months-years. I really like my psychologist. I loooove Pinterest. I’m looking forward to my tattoo, my birthday— I’m actually going to host a get together for the first time in yearsss— my best friend’s birthday, getting to a good place w these fucking asshole kids I work with (some of them are actually entirely lovely), my ravelry idea, my art ideas, and whatever else is going to happen in the next few months.

I was gonna put this in the tags but idk, I dont want to draw conclusions where there might be none but I think I have something.

Ive seen a lot of posts on twitter and tumblr from supposed feminists in which they agree amongst themselves about how it is morally okay to call a topless trans woman indecent exposure. Agreeing amongst themselves and their fellow (but non-feminist) conservatives that it is obscene for a trans woman to go boobs out.

Now the majority of feminists are absolutely not rad fems but there's enough numbers of them that run stealth blogs that they use to attempt to indoctrinate others with that I've wondered if they're influencing the greater number of intelligent feminists to either drop or not bring up the idea. Especially with how hard they've been working to push the narrative of trans people being inherent groomers.

The sudden absence of free the nipple stuff seemed to me to kind of overlap with the absolute vitriol Dylan Mulvaney has been recieving since her early days on tiktok. She's been a target by TERFs and your standard transphobes since the beginning because she chose to dress in a childish manner and use the word girl for herself.

I tend to go through radfem blogs before blocking them, it's a bad habit because that much toxicity is so bad for your brain, but they dedicate their entire online presence to hating trans people, trans women especially. And the number I saw of them calling her disgusting and sexual for simply existing with pigtails and a cutsie shirt was: every single one of them. So the jump from being a fully grown adult that is fully clothed being obscene and gross to a bare chest being obscene and gross is quite a small gap to leap.

And despite the lie that these conservatives push that transgender tits and cisgender tits are inherently somehow different. The science overwhelmingly disagrees.

So they'll do the thing they always do- call out the truth as a lie, dodge questions, and change goalposts by claiming the simple act of transitioning as being sexual.

So this is where mental gymnastics start going into hyperdrive.

Conservatives by and large have never pushed for allowing women to be shirt free in public. But a good number of radfems, pre brainrot, did. And because they now consider trans women's bodies to be inherently sexual by simply existing they can no longer justify free the nipple. In any form.

Because the argument before was, "if men can be shirtless; why can't women?" But then they'll claim trans women aren't women and that they're men. While holding the idea that trans women are inherently sexual. Therefore any amount of exposed skin- or lack thereof- is completely sexual. Therefore trans women cannot go topless. Which then loops back that trans women are supposedly men but men are allowed to go without shirts but women aren't but they should be able to be while trans women are inherently sexual therefore they can't expose their breasts but because they're men-

It just keeps going on and on and on in a loop.

So they simply dropped freeing the nipple.

And because for every 1 radfem there's 5 cryptoterf blogs they run and none of them are circling free the nipple posts anymore- a decent number of people who would be seeing them aren't anymore and the movement has lost traction.

This is just coming off the dome fr, but I saw some tiktok’s talking about why the vote went how it went and how gen z and gen z men especially(although i think that’s an adjacent topic, im hesitant to blame gen z men only on this shit) are not as progressive as we thought we were. And a lot of it is sort of coming from older generations but i also saw some from people around my age ( 19 btw) that were saying something similar. Basically saying we’re as bad as boomers and we might be more “open minded”, but we’re puritanical and reject anything that’s not a perfect monolith of innocence and morality. And that word really bothered me “Puritanical”, cause it brings to mind witch hunts and red scares, ya know, prosecuting of innocent people and ideas just because we don’t like them. And i’m not saying it’s not true (to a certain degree, because people are not all the same), but i resent the idea that these reactions are for no reason. I know it has been brought up many times that the internet truly ruined a generation of people i.e. gen z. But those conversations are usually are about attention spans, and bed rotting, and things like mental and physical health. I think, no I know, the internet gave us (as in the children of internet) a sort of assassination of the spirit. Now I use the word spirit not in a religious context, but to describe the sort of metaphysical connection we as humans have with each other, kinda like a trauma bond in this instance because i’m describing an experience many gen z, also gen alpha (tho i think theirs is somehow worse) have had when coming in contact with the internet. This assassination happens for example when 7 year you wants look up a picture of your favorite cartoon, and you are suddenly met with wall to wall pornographic images of some of the most vile things you’ve ever seen. It also happens when 11 year old you decided to download an app that your friends have, and you are accosted by literal pedophiles. It happens when you are 15 years old, and you decide to put a video of you doing something like idk drawing, and somebody in your comments, that you were so excited to read, tells you to kill yourself and that they hate your entire existence. And this again is just me rambling and writing down what comes to my head, but I think when people (gen z) grow up in a time when their innocence is quite literally ripped out of their hands as children, it makes a little bit of sense when they push back on radical ideas, “offensive” media, and anything that is not pure innocence and morally unambiguous. In other words, I think they’re rejecting the perversion of culture. Things like clothing being baggier, makeup being lighter, shows and tv having less sexual content. And people talk all the time about still feeling like a kid even as an adult, even beyond the usual imposter syndrome thing. It reminds me when those pre-teen girls were obsessing over some skin thing in sephora or whatnot (idk anything about the beauty space) and a lot of older teenagers and women in their twenties were saying how they use to shop at forever 21 and clare’s use to be the spot. And how young kids wear like “revealing” (i put it in quotes because obviously purity culture is at play here also) clothes and there was commentary on the appropriateness, and why young girls can’t wear regular t-shirts and jeans without it being “tight” or cropped. And i don’t have huge insight into male spaces and their experiences so im not gonna pretend i do, but i have two younger brothers, and one of them is already starting to hide his body all the time, downing protein shakes, and is becoming more and more sensitive to jokes at his expense that we use to do all the time (we use to roast each other in good fun because we know we didn’t mean it) but now it’s like a brick wall, and i don’t know how to connect anymore, i’ve resolved to sit on the sidelines till he’s ready to talk. But i can’t help but think those gym bros with the steroid muscles made him feel insecure, on top of him going through puberty. So yah loss of innocence.

Ginny & Georgia 1x01 lb (first time watching)

y'all, I know I am a billion years late, but I'm finally going to watch Ginny & Georgia. I quit after the pilot the first time around because I could not handle the secondhand embarrassment, but I've been promising my friend I will watch it with her for years. so... I think I'm going to do small post episode thoughts, nothing lengthy or super in depth like some of my other shows (generally mystery stuff) because I am watching with someone else and I can't really constantly pause to take notes. so this will be more "general impressions."

**Spoilers for Ginny & Georgia 1x01**

Like I said, I've seen the pilot once before, though it is the only episode of the show I have seen. I also have somehow managed to avoid all spoilers of this show, I think because I blacklisted it when I realized I wouldn't be watching anytime soon, and I don't have a Twitter or a Tiktok. ANYWAY, since this is the pilot, I'm going to do general character impressions and predictions, but in the future I will only do specific characters when something has changed in my feelings/opinion. So this will likely be my longest post for season 1.

Ginny - I honestly came out of this pilot with Ginny as a little bit of a question mark. Initially, she definitely gave off early seasons Rory vibes (it's not like we all don't know the concepts of the shows parallel, though handled quite differently), but by the end of the episode she's made a lot of impulsive, messy decisions, so I'm not totally sure what we're in for with her. She has a kind of interesting balance between sometimes seeming sweet/naive/responsible and blunt/cynical/impulsive. If I had to guess, she's going to lean more into the second set of character traits because that is way more drama.

Georgia - Georgia is at the top of the list of characters with big personalities that I currently enjoy, but do wonder if might grate on me eventually. She's super charming and obviously gorgeous, and I didn't remember that we were actually going to see her backstory (totally forgot about that from the first time I saw the pilot) which I think will be a great service to her character, because it means the viewers have extra insight as to why she does what she does and empathizing with her. Georgia is a wildcard, so I'm strapping my seatbelt on with her.

Max - Max is number 2 on the list of characters with big personalities that was fun in 1x01, but that (with her in particular) I wonder might be a bit much at times. She's definitely a comic relief character, and I fully expect her to have some softer and more vulnerable moments to balance out her character a bit. She feels like another character that will really bring the drama.

Marcus - I could be totally off base here, but I feel like I know exactly where they're going with Marcus. Like he is the character, out of everyone, who I feel like having watched a lot of teen dramas is paying off for, because I feel quite confident that I understand him. He's the "will they, won't they" love interest (I mean, physically, they did, but emotionally not so much) who is going to come off as an "apathetic cynical asshole" for some number of episodes, have a traumatic backstory and softer side he struggles to share, and will eventually become a fan favorite. I really think if I'm right about anything, it's this.

Ellen - Ngl, I thought she was going to be a nemesis for Georgia at first, but that was clearly a wrong first impression and I kind of love her immediately. Idk that she will really get her own arc, but I think she's going to be hilarious.

Joe - I honestly don't quite know what to do with Joe. On the one hand, he so clearly fits into the "slow burn, pining/denial, endgame romance" trope as a character, but it's just.... so on the nose Luke from Gilmore Girls that I almost feel like they actively want to subvert that? I don't know. He definitely does give "endgame" romance vibes.

Paul - I'm also not quite sure what to do with Paul yet. I'm inherently suspicious of him, he feels like a character who could come off quite nice and a little oblivious, but then actually have anger issues or be controlling or something. I'm legitimately unsure if he's going to be a protagonist or an antagonist yet.

Cynthia - Mean girl. This is the nemesis I initially thought Ellen was going to be. Right now I could see her being a two dimensional problem Georgia continuously has to deal with, but I also wouldn't be surprised if she gets fleshed out eventually.

Hunter - Oh, Hunter. Poor, sweet Hunter. If you are not the sacrificial lamb of a first love interest, then I don't know what you are. He screams the "first boyfriend" roadblock to a Ginny and Marcus relationship. But props to the actor because I think he's playing it exactly how they want him to. Like they want Hunter to be the logical choice, but he's also an obstacle so they don't want the audience to get too attached to him, so he is also the most awkward/uncomfortable character ever. It's like, he's so nice, but also he makes me want to die of secondhand embarrassment constantly. Anyway, if I've read the Hunter/Ginny/Marcus love triangle wrong, I will be shocked.

Ginny's Other New Friends - I don't have the names down yet, but most of them are pretty unlikable so far. I assume we'll get more layers to this group as we go.

Austin - He's adorable, but I don't feel like I know anything about him yet, except that he loves Harry Potter, so not much to say here.

Zion - I assume we will see present day Zion at some point, since he seems to be a presence in Ginny's life, but I'm not sure when. For now, very little immediate opinion on him.

Okay, that's all the characters I feel like I need to cover under first impressions. I did remember that Georgia had murdered her husband and why (this is honestly the main thing I remembered from the pilot), so that wasn't a shock. I still struggled with the secondhand embarrassment, but I will power through for the sake of my friendship. lol.

This episode is obviously a lot of set up and I feel like by covering the characters, I've pretty much covered the episode, so I will be back with 1x02 shortly. Future episodes will be more bullet points of the my thoughts/feelings as I watch, and not so detailed per character.

Nanamin is definitely the national bbg for girls and women . He's literally impossible to hate and he's nice to kids. but isn't it imperialist mindset when translated to real life actions? jp has wrecked havoc in sea which left a good number of countries there bleeding and the people today are still suffering the economic consequences, while japanese salaries and welfare are good. i personally know a guy who quit the company once he hit 65 (pension age) and moved to the philippines "because it's cheap and stress free". there's a lot of japanese people in thailand and vietnam living off their pensions or working remotely with jpn salaries who get a way better life than the locals. so aren't the tiktok girlies right in a way? i mean obviously cancelling a cartoon guy over this is kind of silly, but the mindset behind the character's actions/thoughts speaks of a deeper issue, in a way.

i never watched bungou dogs but from my superficial observations it seems to virtually have no female characters, and everyone is a slender androgynous bishounen. from the get go this series will target fujos exclusively, while jjk is a shounen jump manga, thus by default meant for teenage boy consumption (with fujos being the safety net demographic).

idk about one piss, i think the green hair guy and the other ugly guy are popular? as a series it's deeply beloved and extremely popular in japan so it literally needs none of the extra fanservice to keep it going, unlike literally anything else. op is unrivaled. bleach might ge an outlier because i legit cannot name a single yaoi from it i know by osmosis, i just remember that there was blood shed between the shippers of mc x titty orange hair girl and mc x black hair girl. but gintama yaoi has always been popular... g*ntoki is shipped with anyone and everyone and they all hate each other. though him x h*j*k*ta has always been SO popular even the anime poked jokes at it.

i'll probably skip the yaoi Because i don't care. i can't bring myself to pay attention to stuff that is a waste of my time. but i think nanami is still alive so i'll look forward to that! a nice distraction until we get to what matters (maki).

All though Cody is considered as Geeky and perverted, he’s actually kinda smart, e.i he built Gwen’s face with a bunch of boat parts.

I know I already made a post about researching about his parents might being terrible at taking care of their child but thats still in a work in process and this is just a little thing I’ve found out.

In in total dramaramra, Cody makes a few comments about his mom that paints the picture that she never pays attention to him.

He either mentions stuff that his mom would tell him to do, like getting an app to make friends that aren’t even real, or like that one time he said that his mom puts him in a dog costume to sneak him inside airports/airplanes.

Heck even Cody didn’t seem to remember what his mom looks like since he once asked if someone he didn’t know WAS his mom.

I got this idea because I saw some videos on tiktok of taylor and svt cross overs and the tour dates gave me this idea. The explanations just get longer and longer and some of them don’t make a lot of sense lol.

Lavender Haze - Joshua

I just feel like it fits him so well. I literally look at him and it reminds me of the vibes of lavender haze, he’s so vibrant and expressive, quite literally the most dreamy man ever. He’s so ethereal and full of beauty and that's how I see Lavender haze, its a beautiful song. “I’ve been under scrutiny, you handle it beautifully” I believed Shua is loyal to a fault, I just can’t describe why he’s so lavender haze but he is. 

Maroon - Mingyu

Easily it belongs to Mingyu, the song is just so him. “laughing with my feet in your lap, like you were my closet friend” sounds so him, like a relationship with him would be so intense but such fondness. Maroon to me is a relationship full of passionate love and that’s how I see this. Mingyu is literally a Taylor Swift song I don’t care, I am so down bad for this beautiful man.

You cant tell me he doesn't embody it. All the hate he’s received, and the insecurities he’s talked about. Some people make it seem like a chore just to compliment all his hard work. In my mind Vernon is such Lana material, he would be a Lana stan, I don’t care. How he’s spoken about his ethnicity and how he can get uncomfortable with it, but yet is still seen as so handsome in the eyes of many. “weird but fucking beautiful” his mixed ethnicity is looked down upon in Korea, but he’s so looked up to and complimented often on his other-worldly looks.

You’re on your own kid - Chan 

Everyone saw this coming, but that’s okay because its accurate. Even though he does have 12 older brothers to look after him and help guide him everyone knows the childish urge to want to do everything on your own. Everyone wants to try to prove themselves and often times it leads to them distancing themselves and trying to do it on their own, I see that in him especially growing up in the scene from a very young age. (this is me projecting btw)

Midnight Rain - Seungcheol

“A deep portal, time travel all the love we unravel and the life I gave away” quite literally Choi Seungcheol, he’s sacrificed so much of himself just to succeed and make a name for himself and the rest of the boys at such a young age, stepping up to be their leader. He has so much love for all of them and all I could hope is he looks back and sees his sacrifices have made him into who he is today. 

Question...? - Hoshi 

Honestly at first I didn’t really have any reasoning for assigning him to this song just a feeling but then the lyrics. “ It was one drink after another” made me think of him in ttt, “fuckin politics and gender roles” His duality and his style of dance is so fluid and I feel Hosh is such an open awesome guy and I just thought of him. “ Does it feel like everything's just like second best after that meteor strike” I feel he is often hard on himself and the others just from having to build themselves up from nothing and wanting the best for everyone. (idk if this one makes sense)

Vigilante Shit - Woozi

This song just makes me think of Jihoon honestly I don’t really have an explanation to my thoughts here. “Sometimes I wonder which one will be your last lie they say looks can kill and I might try”, everyone always says he the scariest when he’s mad but we all know Jihoon would do a lot for seventeen, he already does. There's just so many layers to him, and I think he defends the group much more than he lets on. This man could definitely write a diss track or something as his revenge.

Bejeweled - Jeonghan 

Obviously bejeweled is his song he’s so elegant with such a big personality. Not to mention his gorgeous looks and smile its hard not to smile at him when he’s giggling and grinning. His personality is layered though but he’s still such a sweet soul and he blesses those around him in a caring way under his mischief. Many members have talked about how they can come to Jeonghan with whatever, I just think he lights up a room.

Labyrinth - Jun

This song just suits him in my opinion “lost in the labyrinth of my mind”, we all know Jun spaces out a lot and he’s in his own world quite often which is one thing I really love about him. I cant explain it but his vibe is literally this song to me and the mixed beats and genres is just perfect. “you would break your back to make me break a smile” I just wanted to include this because it reminded me of the Jun 2nd place episode, plus seventeen as a whole love Jun so much and he can do nothing and they’d smile and laugh which I think is so precious. 

Karma - Minghao 

Nobody can tell me this song isn't Hao, he literally embodies karma. He wouldn’t stoop to anybody's level just to get back at them but he’d let the universe take care of it. “My pennies made your crown” literally came from nothing, a bankrupt company to the group its been made to today. By far one of the best dancer’s of the 3rd gen. “ ask me what I learned from all those years ask me what I earned from all those tears ask me why so many fade but I'm still here” It wasn’t an easy battle for them to get to the top either they went through many hardships and struggles and yet all 13 are still together.

Sweet Nothing - Seokmin 

I’m gonna try my best to make up a description for it but this was a no brainer between him and gyu. He’s literally one of the sweetest men ever in my eyes, and his gorgeous smile. “Outside they're push and shoving you're in the kitchen humming” this line just reminds me so much of him, he’s almost always so sweet and gentle with all the members and he doesn’t want any special treatment in return. Soft head pats, loving smiles, and laughing fits is what I imagine with dk.

Mastermind - Wonwoo

We all know Wonwoo as an intelligent man so of course it makes sense he ended up as mastermind. “saw a wide smirk on your face, you knew the entire time” that line just reminds me of him, like even if you schemed against him I just think he would know the whole time and let it flow because he wanted it too, and to see you happy. Wonwoo is a mastermind himself too so it just makes sense. (gives me debate night vibes lol)

I love LesMis, Chicago (the movie), Cabaret, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and dare I say it, Cats (NOT the movie, and before you ask, no I’m not a furry lmao). Anyways on the topic of RPF or fanfiction in general, what’s like the worst fic you’ve encountered? That one I talked about definitely scarred me the most, but I also saw fics where the entire premise is a female Y/N “turning Freddie straight” and having heterosexual sex with him which is just ew. And tbh I personally don’t have anything against old man thirst/PD!Queen fics (not including fics that normalize ped0philia etc), it’s just… some things are harder to stomach than others lol. As long as they keep it in their corner of the Internet and do not present it to the people they write about, live and let live.

Actually now that I think about the old man thirst, it’s a bit concerning to see literal children in their preteen and early teen years openly thirsting for old men, like men in their 60-80s. This goes beyond the Queen fandom, and applies to the wider classic rock fandom. The things I’ve read… They’re not just cute innocent crushes, they’re literally talking about present day rock stars in a very explicit, sexual way. A LOT of kids are getting into classic rock now; I sent you that ask about Tiktok and I’m not exaggerating when I say I see a lot of 11-14 classic rock fans (who like bands like Motley Crue, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Who…) And this opens up to all kinds of problems; I’ve seen a lot of them talk about how creepy old men would disguise themselves as their faves online and talk to them, ask for their number/address, etc.

Oh yeah, Avenue Q is a product of its time. It was 2003 and it even has the line that George Bush is "only for now" in the last song lol. A lot has changed in our culture over the past 18 years. Sondheim is my favorite composer, hands-down. He's a genius and his music is so damn smart a lot of times. I haven't seen all of the other ones you've mentioned, but I'll be controversial and say that not only am I not a fan of Cats or POTO (with the latter, it has good songs but I think they're better out of context because the characters suck), but god, I really dislike RENT lol. I know a lot of people love it and that's fine. I'm glad you can get more enjoyment out of it than I can. I cried my eyes out when I watched it in 8th grade, but then I watched it when I got older and really did not enjoy it anymore.

Ooo boy, you're asking the real controversial questions lol. I'm definitely uncomfortable with the type of stories you mentioned. RPF is a complicated topic and I have mixed thoughts on it, but the short version is that I do think there are lines that shouldn't be crossed with it. I...really hate to name any specific fic....But. There's this person who has posted a ton of stories and they've gained quite a reputation. The stories tend to have these common themes: young Freddie being physically ill in some way (so some lowkey illness exploitation, for lack of a better term), the other members of the band being medical professionals who are either related to Freddie or his partners, some underage shit, random George Michael cameos, a dentistry fetish, and a tickling fetish. There are other things thrown in their work, but those are the things that pop up the most frequently.

I'm sorry, but it's the strangest collection of stories I've ever come across. I read just the descriptions of these stories to friends who've been reading fic for a long time, and they agree they've never seen such a weird collection. I think it would be weird if it were regular old fanfiction, but the fact that it's RPF is...Idk. I might get my head bitten off but I'm very uncomfortable with these stories which revolve around making Freddie medically suffer in some way when he really died of a terminal illness. This is where the stories go from strange to offensive for me. It's not like these stories deal with his real AIDS diagnosis, either, but stuff he didn't actually have irl. I saw one description where he'd need a lung transplant (?!) and closed the fuck out of AO3. Just, why? Where is the enjoyment out of imagining such a thing? Why not just write this story with a fictional character if it's going to have nothing to do with Queen? It honestly unnerves me. Oh, and the formatting of the stories themselves is absolutely unreadable. I clicked on one out of sheer curiosity but the lack of spaces and paragraph breaks hurt my eyes.

I do think the old man thirst is concerning when the people doing it are very young. Sorry but....kids aren't supposed to find senior citizens attractive lmfao. It definitely seems to be a thing in the wider classic rock fandom. I was going to say they'll just outgrow it, but if these kids on Tiktok are really talking about older men talking to them while posing as their idols, that's really concerning. Vent/Rant post about Witchtok idk

((TLDR: Witchtok seemed fun at first but pretty soon showed a very ugly side of itself that puts kids in danger. Meanwhile 'experienced' witches are out there are putting dangerous misinformation about religious practices. +Also a personal rant about how this whole thing has put me off from talking about my own practices with Pan.))

I've been a somewhat active "tiktoker" for a few months. I only really posted videos of my artwork and whatnot to sort of gain some traction and sell commissions, which was great! I met a lot of really cool people, and made some really sweet friends within the small community of artists on tiktok... And then I found the Witchtok tag.

At first I was uniquely excited, it was really cool to see other witches actively show off how proud they were of their craft and their religious practices. I saw lots of pretty good advice, and for me at least, it was absolutely wonderful to see how different and unique each person experienced their craft. I feel stupid now in hindsight for thinking this, but I genuinely felt something with how fun and welcoming Witchtok seemed to be.

And then all of sudden it became a fucking train wreck. There are lots of things wrong with Witchtok: Cultural appropriation, online harassment, misinformation, people throwing around hexing accusations with no proof, etc etc. A lot of really dumb shit. At first I was able to ignore it, because surely people will be smart enough to do their own research and not trust some random person on tiktok about entire religions, right? And then I realized how dumb I was for thinking that. There are people on Witchtok touting themselves as being experienced witches who are experts in everything spiritual, and beginning practitioners are going to naturally look up to them as positions of authority to consult on matters that they might not even be in the position to be consultants of. So many of these people are actual children too, and its become a very scary situation with how out of control it has become. I think the breaking point for me was the issues surrounding that,,, "Medusa" tiktoker who began trying to groom minors for illicit photos. I just couldn't do it anymore with Witchtok, that was too much. It already hurt a lot to see so many experienced witches actively condemn and shame children for not knowing better, but that entire thing just proved to me that too many people within the Witchtok community DO NOT CARE about protecting or educating each other. They all just want to one up each other in this imaginary game of who's the most correct, meanwhile AN ONLINE CULT WAS LITERALLY BEGINNING TO FORM, I'M JUST,, AT A LOSS FOR WORDS.

There's so much to unpack, especially from my perspective as a Hellenic Pagan who's worshiping Pan. I'm going to get quite personal but it's been on my mind and I need to share it for my own sake. Up until recent events, I was beginning to consider participating in the Witchtok community because I really do enjoy sharing things about my path, especially my relationship with Pan. I love sharing the things that I learn, and I want to record all of it as I go, so that one day I can look back and see how far I've come in my journey. My time with Pan has not only helped me grow spiritually, but my overall outlook on the world around me has changed for the better. To illustrate better what I mean by this, I am a CSA survivor, and for most of my life, sex fulfilment and healthy love were things I fundamentally believed I didn't deserve. By the time I approached adulthood, I had already accepted that I would never be able to enjoy sex or feel the kind of love I wanted. Pan at this point has obviously proven me wrong. He helped work through my trauma, he taught me that sex can not only be safe but exciting, and he showed me that my body isn't something to be ashamed of. Needless to say, my relationship with a deity heavily associated with sex and fertility is OBVIOUSLY intimate.

So it really fucking hurts when I see my fellow pagan peers tell me that my relationship with Pan isn't real, and that my practices based on tradition that I spent MONTHS researching before I started is just me being a 'stupid baby witch.' Or worse when people tell me that I should FEAR my God, my God who has done nothing but treat me with kindness and love throughout my entire time with him. Or even worse, when people who think that because they read up on a little mythology, they can tell me my God is a r*pist, and that I'm wrong for having a close and friendly bond with him. It's almost laughable how so much of what Witchtok considers to be "the right way to worship deities" is exactly what Pan would've hated if I behaved the way they deem to be correct.

Pan would HATE it if I was never friendly and comfortable around him. He is known for having a unique sense of humor, why wouldn't his followers be able to do the same? Obviously there are boundaries, but any deity including Pan will set up said boundaries when necessary. He loves when his followers are silly and playful! He loves when we explore ourselves in ways that are happy and healthy, whether spiritually, sexually, or physically! He loves when we let ourselves loosen up and forget about our chains, even for just a moment! If I talked at all about my practices with him I can guarantee Witchtok would eat me alive. To be honest, I wouldn't put it past them if the collective opinion of Witchtok was that he's dead because it says so in myth.

In retrospect, I'm very glad I chose to stay away from Witchtok, not only would I not be welcome, but children are watching. I feel like not enough people are thinking of that, and that's terrifying. I can't imagine how guilty I'd feel if I put something out there that was misinformed, or even DANGEROUS, and kids were seeing it. I just couldn't bear it. As an artist I'll continue to post videos on tiktok exclusively about my art, but I can't in good conscience post anything there regarding my religious practices. Which honestly saddens me, so much of my practice involves me drawing and painting works involving what Pan looks like to me, and I would've loved to show off that artwork had it not been for the absolute shit show I've been exposed to.

Roman was born an influencer. A famous one at that. A jack of all trades, he had your stereotypical vlogger YouTube channel, basic Instagram, and a flare for the dramatics.

Virgil was, quite literally, the opposite. He had Tumblrs, TikToks, Instagrams - anything he could share memes on. And he was famous for it.

He was also famous for making fun of Roman Prince.

They would never get along.

It all started with a rainy Friday night.

Virgil had recently been in Romans part of town - Gainesville Florida. Although they had never spoken online (at least where their fans could witness), they’d been casually dating for a few months.

So it really shouldn’t have been a surprise when the darkly-dressed emo was splayed haphazardly across Romans clearly expensive couch.

Roman, the self-obsessed dork that he is, decided to post a well-angled photo of himself onto his Instagram. Well- it would have been well-angled if a figure hadn’t been in the frame.

So, of course, Princey’s oh-so-vigilant followers had quickly pointed out a blurry person on the sofa.

“Okay, Virge, I’ve made a mistake,” Roman had stated, swiveling around in his desk chair to stare at the man. Virgil scoffed, not looking up from his phone.

“You do that a lot,” he quipped. Roman dramatically threw a hand over his chest, leaning back in his chair.

“I am wounded!”

“What’d you do this time,” Virgil deadpanned, brushing off Roman.

“You might want to check my Instagram.”

Virgil heaved a sigh, sitting up and tapping away on his phone. If you could see his face, you’d be able to tell the exact moment he saw the post.

“Jesus Christ, Roman, you’re a dunce.”

“Excuse you!”

“How do you- how did you manage to do that? It really shouldn’t be that har-”

“That's what he-”

“No!” Virgil choked back a laugh. “That's not what he said! Roman!”

The princely-dressed boy looked down.

“We’re screwed!”

“How are they even gonna know it’s you- you’re so blurry on the couch I could probably just say it’s my dad and move on with it.”

“They’ve seen your dad.”

“Alright then you give me an idea!”

“Okay,” Virgil leaned on the arm of the couch. “As long as no one not-” 

A moment passed.

“Cat got your tongue?”

“Roman, do you mind.. reading... the comments?” he drew out each word, gaze now directed pointedly at Roman.

“Oh God.”

Romans eyes barely flicked across the screen, which horrifically read:

AustinHart09: I didn’t know he had a boyfriend!!

Which, granted, Roman had expected. But then they started speculating, throwing random influencer's names around. Nothing really backed their claims up, thank God.

Then one user had typed a terribly accurate idea, evidence and all.

“oh boy roman, look at this! virgil black has that exact hoodie! and.. you’re not gonna believe this (actually you will <3) virgey, as you have so fondly dubbed him, was just in gainesville!”

What a smartellic.

“You really screwed up, dude,” Virgils laugh rumbled in his chest. “Now what?”

Roman shrugged helplessly, head dropping into his hands. 

“My reputation is ruined,” he wailed, muffled between his shirt sleeves.”

“Mine too!”

“You have no reputation!”

Virgil made a noise mixed betweent a grunt and a gasp.

“I do too!”

“Oh my God-“ Roman sharply inhaled. “okay- we have to fix this.”
