being best friends with oikawa and iwaizumi
reader x oikawa tōru | reader x iwaizumi hajime (PLATONIC)
900+ words | gender neutral
a/n - i just wanna sing barbie things by nikki minaj with oikawa in the car while iwaizumi drives like the smexy person is
warnings: unedited AND from 2021… how could it get any worse
—————————————
- you three (3) have been friends since childhood, often hanging out at oikawa’s
- the days you were together, you spent either playing around the neighborhood, watching the boys play volleyball, catching bugs, watching volleyball games on the tv, playing fun games, etc.
- oikawa’s older sister absolutely adorned adored you, and always joked about trading tōru for you and iwa
- for all of grade school, you, iwa and oikawa were practically attached at the hip
- you often supported them at their games, and with their passion for volleyball. understandably, you and iwaizumi had a secret agreement to watch over oikawa and make sure he wasn’t overworking himself
- when you heard about the incident with kageyama, you made sure that oikawa apologized and scolded him for giving the poor boy a hard time
- you also tried to make it up to kageyama by giving him a little gift basket and greeting him nicely in the halls of kitagawa first
- by the time you all enrolled in aoba johsai, your bond was unbreakable
- despite oikawa’s pleads, you didn’t sign up to be the manager for the volleyball club.. although this didn’t stop you from visiting them during practice, usually with snacks and the occasional gossip
- by your third year, the team and new members were familiar with you and recognized you as the team’s good luck charm
- of course, you couldn’t help but beam whenever you see oikawa perfectly set a ball for iwaizumi to spike
- when attending their games that are hosted at aoba joshai’s gym, they were both sure to designate a spot JUST FOR YOU
- both iwaizumi and oikawa are VERY protective of you, and would literally intimidate any potential suitors who try to approach you
- either oikawa or iwaizumi would leave you with one of their jackets, mainly so that people don’t mess with you
- the 3 of you would often have sleepovers too!! godzilla movies are probably watched (request of iwa), with relaxing face masks and baked goodies to indulge in.. the night often controls what you guys go
one sleepover, when oikawa got dumped earlier that day because of volleyball, you decided to have a self care night while watching the movie titanic.. trying not to laugh at the pictures iwa took of oikawa, you would help them apply face masks to the boys’ skin. oikawa looked silly with the hair clip you gave him to hold his bangs back, and as heartbroken as he was, oikawa was still down to sing “my heart will go on” with you. iwa would occasionally sing some parts with you both, but the fact that you all butchered that beautiful song- it just left you all laughing by the end of it. a video of you and oikawa was recorded by iwa, so it is used as friendly blackmail :D
- whenever you three (3) had outings, iwa always drived NO MATTER WHAT- AND HE LOOKED HOT while oikawa had the passenger seat and aux. you always sat in the back, either sleeping or singing along with whatever nicki minaj bop he chose (FAVORITE GO-TO SONG: BARBIE TINGZ)
- with oikawa’s fan girls, some of them hate you while some of them love you. oikawa constantly voices how they all want them to respect you, and they all understand that.
- if you were to ever go on a small date with some suitor, then i can GUARANTEE that they would follow you with terrible disguises (and positive intentions ofc) all while you try not to laugh at them
- if you were to ever hear about any of their crushes, you’d put in a good word for them.. and depending on how long the relationship lasts, you’d also befriend their s/o
- the gc you have is UTTER CHAOS thanks to whatever memes or funny insults oikawa sends
- facetimes are also a thing, as well as taking really funny and ugly photos of each other
tw: sad things (when they lost)
- whenever they lost the qualifiers against karasuno, you were there to comfort oikawa and iwa, plus assure the team that they were all good players regardless
- you were also the one who paid for the ramen after (make them pockets hurt ig)
- and you sat while they practiced one (1) last time as a team after the ramen, meaning that you were ALSO THERE WHEN OIKAWA THANKED THEM FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS AND UGLY CRIED WITH THEM TOO-
- moving on, graduation was one of the best days of your life. it was bittersweet, of course, but to be spending time with them both was all you wanted.. and even when you were all in different time zones, you all put the effort in staying in touch
- you all supported each other, and often sent them care packages from home while they sent you goods from california and argentina
- when iwaizumi came back to japan, the two of you met up more often, probably calling oikawa and just doing best friend things woo
- during the olympics, you were given special seats to watch the event takes place
- not to be sappy or anything ‼️, but with seeing how far your boys have gotten, YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY BEAMING WITH PRIDE WHEN YOU WATCHED THEM AT THE OLYMPICS
- overall, your friendship with oikawa and iwaizumi allows a very fun and carefree bond shared between the three of you

drop ur antony headcanons pls
Thank you for asking me anon!!! I love to share my headcanons about him he’s so silly!!
1. I feel like more than half of his closet is just graphic tees/t-shirts. That’s like the only kind of shirt he wears.
2. For his crush on Dejah, he acts like a stuttering and complete mess of front of her. Super awkward and everything. But she doesn’t mind! I think she finds it and him very sweet. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched my little pony friendship is magic, but they give me Shining Armor x Cadence vibes.
3. I’d like to think he played an instrument as a kid. He was probably a band kid.
4. Whenever he went to zoos as a kid or even now, he rushes to the reptile section. It’s most likely for him to look at iguanas since he’s in the iguana society. Though I feel like he loves every single kind of reptile.
5. He’s the Godzilla’s movies #1 fan. Bro RUNS to the theaters whenever a new movie drops. He always cheers on Godzilla for the Godzilla vs. literal any creature or just any Godzilla movie in general.
6. Amusement park enthusiast. He absolutely LOVES any and all kinds of amusement parks. He will ride absolutely anything!! Maybe not the VERY VERY high rollercoasters but he will ride anything and everything else. He’s still a kid at heart.
7. His favorite holiday is basically any where he can spend time with his family. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween are his top ones. He loves going trick or treating with Hazel and I feel like they always had matching Halloween costumes.
8. He played some sports as a kid. I have no idea which ones but I feel like he’d be a soccer kid (maybe I’m bias because I play soccer LMAO).
9. Secretly LOVES reality tv shows. He acts like he doesn’t, but whenever Angela has it on he sits next to her and watches it. They totally gossip about it together.
10. He will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING for Hazel. He cares so much about her.
11. Whenever the Wells Family is on a trip, he’s the one to suggest excursions and everything like that.
12. Energy drinks are his LIFE. He doesn’t drink coffee but bro will absolutely DOWN any energy drink.
13. I feel like he helps build whatever ghost hunting or paranormal investigation invention Marcus wants. He probably even helped him build the the ghost one that we see in the show! He doesn’t really get his dad’s obsession with the paranormal but he will forever cheer his dad on!
14. Since he now knows about Cosmo, Peri, and Wanda, he will guard their secret with his life for Hazel. He helps when they have a few little slips. I feel like he would get along great with Cosmo and Wanda! He definitely appreciates what they’ve done for his little sister. He tries to get along with Peri but I feel like they don’t really get along at first. You know, younger brother vs older brother. Maybe they do get along but at first, absolutely not.
15. He’s a great cook! He helps cook meals for Hazel whenever his parents are out and about.
16. He has silly little karaoke nights with Hazel :3

That’s all the headcanons I have for him <33 if I do think of more I’ll either edit the post or make a new post about it! Thank you for the ask anon!! And thank you for reading! I hope you have a great day or night :3

My drafts were being weird @skatermusic so here we are
Heatwave headcanons
He was lower caste on Cybertron before coming to the Rescue Bots
This mf is shit at reading due to this, but he tries his best to hide it
His formal education is whatever they taught at the academy, and even then due to the age he was when he came in and his graduation year, his education level isn't as high as the others
He is street smart though, and has a basic understanding of things around him. He isn't stupid when you actually look into what he knows
Sometimes doubts his position as leader due to this. Majority of the team leaders have been fire bots, so he sometimes believes that is why he was chosen as Sigma 17's team leader
Doesn't help that their team's graduation was rushed. That part was never really explained to them
Out of all of the Sigma team he is closest to Chase, but isn't Amica level with him (that honor has been given to Blades)
Loves to lie to the humans about basic Cybertronian things. Things from how they sleep, refuel, if they can cry or not, all of that is fair game for him to lie about. Anything that can actually be useful for them to know, such as patching them up, he allows Blades to explain
Speaking of Blades, these two started to rough house more as Blade's confidence grew. The rest of the team likes to watch them wrestle with each other
Literally cannot tell if Quickshadow is either flirting with him or making fun of him. Blades does not make it any easier as well with his input
Blurr gets under his plating but most of that is due to him seeing a younger self in Blurr. He tries his best to guide Blurr away from making the same mistakes as him, but sometimes you just gotta let him learn the hard way
Will never admit it, but loves when Kade insists on them visiting different scenic areas of Griffin Rock. The scenery was one of the small things that made him want to stay
Speaking of these times, he will also never admit that he loves hearing the stories Kade tells him. When he isn't trying to pose up for others, Kade actually makes a good talking partner to the bot.
While he doesn't fully understand the whole Kaiju movie industry, he will admit that watching giant monsters beat the shit out of each other is entertaining. Kade has dragged him off to a Godzilla movie marathon
Cody throws off his guardian coding, especially with all of the danger he gets into
He teaches Cody with his holoform different self defense mechanisms, and sometimes drags Kade in to be the test dummy
Has broken his training dummy so many times that Boulder had refused to fix it for 2 solid months. After that they came to a conclusion to create a metal one
Will allow Chase to infodump about his detective movies and books, but if there were a test at the end, he would fail
Finds metal and punk music to be the most similar human music to his favorite Cybertronian genres of music
Use to follow Megatron's speeches due to his position in the lower caste, but gave up on him after the council meeting and the fall out after that
"Why the frag is half of this island brain dead?"
Has never killed a man or bot, but isn't opposed to it if he weren't a Rescue Bot and was under oath
Is very sassy after the bots are revealed to the community. Has ruined many of Huxley's clips by swearing in English
Swears the most in English, but Blades wins for Cybertronian swearing
Races Hightide in boat mode. Only won once because Hightide took pity
Would gladly fuck up MECH if they met
And those are some Heatwave headcanons! Hope you enjoy

i guess this is a rec list of stuff i liked in 2024?? no particular order, i just wanted to yak about some things i had a good time with.
bang brave bang bravern: maybe this isn't a legit comparison but i keep thinking of it as "what if samurai flamenco had a significantly tighter story (tomokazu sugita is also there)". if you like giant robots, you might like this. if you like a completely straight-faced commitment to the extremely funny bit of contrasting hard military scifi with the absurdity of classic giant robots, you might like this. if you're interested in sugita playing a robot who's a bottom, and also there's a lot of gay shit and the earnest power of true love, you might like this!
digimon story cyber sleuth & hacker's memory: a really fun set of turn-based jrpgs. cyber sleuth took me a while to warm up to (the localization could be better, to put it generously), but i came to enjoy its slightly offbeat sense of humor. hacker's memory, otoh, i loved from the start. it does a great job showing how cyber sleuth's story beats happened in parallel while still keeping the focus on a fantastic new cast and their own plotlines. the first game is a more standard digimon story about saving the world, while hacker's memory widens the perspective and shows a bit of the systems at play in the background. just a super satisfying game on every level for me.
shin godzilla: personally i love logging off work and my many meetings and watching a movie about a guy who has to go to even more meetings. i'm kidding, this was really fun (on account of all the meetings). i'll get to his kamen rider and ultraman movies too at some point.
gilgamesh (gardner & maier, also the david ferry version): paying my respects to the original yaoi 🫡
judgment: i wanted to try a rgg game without committing to playing 8 of them in order. turns out this is a perfect standalone game. it's such a tightly written story and character study, and it's really fun to play. kimutaku is so good at playing yagami so low-key, so tamped down, that when he explodes you really feel how angry he's been all along. the english cast is also great -- i enjoyed greg chun's take on yagami as well. (i played lost judgment too but wasn't quite so high on it. alas)
siren: watched sgf's excellent lp and loved this horror stealth game. the motion-capture work for the faces is a pretty cool workaround for the rendering limitations at the time while adding to the off-kilter vibe. i'm also a huge sucker for when studios lean into mixed media and use photos of real props (magazines, IDs in wallets, letters, etc) in their games. the story is kinda obtuse – and literally requires you to read extra official content to get some of the answers – but for something with such vague, stilted cutscenes with equally vague and stilted dialogue, especially with the added layer of a classic ps2-era english dub, i became attached to the entire cast stuck in this extremely bleak and scary scenario. i guess the best way i can sum it up is that it's a game that knows exactly how to play you.
digital devil saga 2: finished right before the world is actually set to end in 2025 in the game lol. it's so good!! i'm grateful that even after all this time, i managed to go into this mostly blind, because the way the plot reveal recontexualizes so much about the first game and the absolute rank relationship dynamics between some of the characters just blew me away. probably has some of my favorite character designs of all time, and i also think it's sooo fun to play thanks to my having turn-based long jrpg brain sickness. such an all-timer of a duology.
nine sols: i'm still not done with it on account of it being a parry-focused metroidvania and me sucking shit at both platforming and parrying, but it's great! it feels so confidently produced, kinda wild considering how different it is from their previous two games, devotion and detention (both of which i also highly recommend). the art and design work are beautiful, and i'm really enjoying how bleak the plot is. you can tell they made two horror games before this lol. i also love story mode. thank you, story mode.
風林火山韻雷 -bring it back-: lmao. anyway, it's a super fun song and mv that packs in everything i like about akyr (mixing traditional with modern both in the song and the imagery, high energy, everyone's great ofc but takayuki kondo especially killing it with that bridge, akyr making aggro songs about murdering their enemies).

My Personal History with My Good Friend, Satan
My first encounter with The Devil - that I can remember, at least - came when I was about three or so. My mom liked to borrow VHS tapes from libraries to show me and my siblings a lot, and one of the libraries she used was the one at our church. It was a small and obviously very religion-centric collection, but it left a notable mark on me - like, that's where I saw this weird, kinda shitty cartoon version of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe which might be responsible for irreconcilably fucking up my taste in women? I just have this distinct memory of watching the scene where Edmund is tempted by the White Witch and thinking, "Yeah, he's making the right call." If anything I was frustrated that he hesitated - three year old me was already simping for this woman. Just imagine a child channeling Ernie Hudson in Ghostbusters and growling, "When a terrifying and beautiful woman offers you candy and a private sleigh ride, you say YES!" and that's basically me as a kid.
Where was I? Right, Satan. So, the other video from that library I remember was this cartoon retelling of Bible stories, and really I just remember the Adam and Eve part. The temptation scene had this huge, super gnarly-looking demonic red snake in it, and he was so cool and badass and I was already predisposed to like snakes anyway, so of course he was my instant favorite. But, like almost all media featuring reptiles that captured my little child heart, he turned out to be the bad guy - literally The Devil, in this case - and was punished at the end of the story. And that pissed me off.
Sometime shortly thereafter - or at least that's how I remember it, this was over thirty years ago so things might be smushed closer together than they really were by the fog of ages - some of the kids in my preschool chastised me for liking snakes. "Don't you know the devil is a snake? Snakes are evil!" I remembered the movie, and it made me angry.
Because snakes aren't evil, and as a kid I knew that because my parents taught me it. Snakes were just animals, they don't know right from wrong, and to call them evil it to judge them for what they are, not what they do. That experience taught me a very important lesson: The Devil is a tool to make people hate the innocent. And as I'd later learn, snakes were far from the only innocents people would vilify because of a demonic association.
The second time I met the devil came a few years later, when I was six or seven or so. My Grampa and Grams liked to take us up North to Mackinac City and the Upper Peninsula each summer, and I have a lot of fond memories of those trips, but there was one in particular that's relevant to this discussion. We saw a sign for a "laser light show" in the shopping district, and I got to stay up late to see it with my family. The show in question was basically a cartoon projected into the night sky adapting the song The Devil Went Down to Georgia. It was super primitive and hokey and cornball and terrible and I loved every second of it. I was enchanted, absolutely delighted with the spectacle and the silly song where the devil was less a force of evil and more a comically bumbling inept supervillain - one of my favorite archetypes, even back then. So that's the second lesson about the devil I learned: The Devil can be fun sometimes.
Now, Godzilla, one of the few reptile characters I encountered as a kid who didn't end up a villain (at least not in the first movie of his I saw, Godzilla vs. Megalon), had already set me on the path to loving monsters of all stripes and, by extension, horror fiction in general, so as I grew up I had many more encounters with the devil. But while I warmed up quickly to most monster archetypes, like vampires, zombies, werewolves, etc., I always felt dismissive of demons. It kind of coincided with me becoming disillusioned with Christianity as a whole, in fact. A story about fighting evil, Christian-style demons is ultimately an allegory for fighting evil as defined by Christianity, and Christianity's definition of what evil is, well, sucks. It's bad! They got some things right, but some things horribly wrong. The devil is the tool Christianity uses to make you hate the innocent, and I struggled to enjoy a lot of demon stories because of that. Still do with some, in fact.
There were exceptions, of course - I loved The Evil Dead series as soon as I saw it at too-early-of-an-age, but then, the demons in it aren't super Christian. They aren't repelled by holy water or crucifixes or prayer, and in fact God and Jesus barely get mentioned in the series and never come up as a potential solution. They're kind of secular as demons go, and maybe that made them easier to stomach. But overall, demons ranked pretty low in the hierarchy of monsters to me - they were too tainted by the religion that spawned them for me to enjoy.
Until college, anyway. I quietly renounced my faith during my Freshmen year, and then, as if seeking one last chance at redemption in my eyes, the devil came to me again the following year. That's when I had a class on Medieval literature, and was exposed to far older devil stories than I had ever seen before. And Medieval devils kick ass. They have so much more personality and variety than I had come to expect, and some are downright affable, even sympathetic to a degree. It was one of many moments in college when I realized there was much more to a topic I'd previously written off as boring and trite.
This is when I read Dante's The Divine Comedy and Milton's Paradise Lost and Marlowe's Faust and Ben Johnson's The Devil Is An Ass. It's when I read early Gothic Horror novels like Matthew Gregory Lewis's The Monk, and dived into The Twilight Zone, which has more than a few episodes that are updates of medieval-style devil folktales in a more modern (i.e. 1960's) setting. And so many of these works presented the Devil not as a stand-in for everything Christianity hates, but as a person - a deeply flawed person, yes, but a person with actual wants and feelings and thoughts of his own, a person who was interesting and compelling - and sometimes funny, and sometimes charming, and sometimes really sad. There was, dare I say... sympathy for the devil growing in my heart.
In the last year of my undergraduate studies, I attended my college's yearly Medieval Studies Congress, where people from all over the world came to Kalamazoo just to share their research papers on medieval history and literature. One girl's thesis paper was on the subject of "rueful devils," i.e. depictions of demons in literature where they wanted to repent their sins and redeem themselves, which uniformly ended with the devils' hopes being dashed as they could not fully repent. This idea... possessed me. The idea that the devil could repent, or at least try to - that there could be hope even in the most debauched sinner. It was such a good narrative trope in my eyes - why did it die out centuries ago?
Well, because the church didn't like it, you see. If the devil can repent - if the Absolute King of Evil can choose to become a good person - then he's not very useful as a tool to make people hate the innocent anymore. The devil MUST be "pure evil" to work as intended. A rueful devil, a repentant devil, a devil that can be redeemed, forces us to be more forgiving and kind. It forces us to be better. It prevents us from hating people because an old book says so. And some people just couldn't have that, and so the trope died.
...
After I got my bachelor's degree, I entered the job market and, after applying to fifty different places or so, was finally hired as a high school english teacher about two weeks before the school year started. Said school year was the worst year of my life. Like, I've had extreme self loathing issues and suicidal ideation since, like, sixth grade, but holy shit it was NEVER as bad as it was in that nine month stretch between 2012 and 2013. There was this bridge I had to cross on the way to work each morning, and about two months in the job was so stressful that part of my morning routine was thinking, "You know, if I just swerve to the right, this can all be over and I'll never have to worry again." About halfway in I began drastically losing weight despite not changing my diet or getting more exercise and it was so traumatic that to this day whenever my weight starts to drop my initial reaction is dread rather than excitement. I impulse bought the first two Kung-Fu Panda movies and, after watching each for the first time and crying hideously, proceeded to watch them on repeat for an entire weekend while sobbing myself hoarse for reasons I couldn't comprehend at the time.
I was in Hell. And the devil met me there.
I started writing a story during that year. I didn't get very far, just a couple chapters, but it was one of the few things that gave me a sense of accomplishment. Despite all the stress and sadness and misery, I made something. It was a story about demons, and Hell, and trying to make your life better even when the world around you seems deadset on making you suffer as much as possible.
When my bosses called me into their office at the end of that year and told me that I had to quit my job so the assistant principal could take my teaching position and survive the downsizing they'd get next year, and that if I didn't quit they'd give me the lowest teacher evaluation they could and make it supremely difficult for me to get hired elsewhere... I was relieved. I'd been let out of Hell. After a handful of months left to finish out the year, I was free.
And then I went home, with nothing. No job, no desire to pursue the career for which I'd spent five years and an ungodly amount of money getting a degree to pursue, no nest egg, nothing. Nothing except a few chapters of a book.
The years that followed were hard. I did a lot of temp work, it took me a very long time to find something that worked for me. I may have left the worst year of my life, but there was still a lot of misery waiting for me. And through it all, I felt the need to accomplish... something, ANYTHING. I had to make something to prove I had a reason to exist, even if it was something that only had value to me.
With three years of work, those chapters became my first novel, No Sympathies: A Tale of Those Who Trespass Against Us. It was about the devil, and Hell, and finding salvation even when things seem inescapably bleak. It was my first novel, and now, eight years later, it's the first of five.
The devil saved my life. He saw me at my lowest, lifted me up, whispered, "It'll be ok. You have to keep going. I'll be with you, but you have to keep going," and goddammit, he kept me from swerving right.
That's when I learned the greatest truth about the devil, at least to me. The devil is a tool to make people hate the innocent, yes, this is true, but because of that, the devil can be a savior for the broken, the beaten, and the damned. You can feel like you're worthless, wretched, and doomed. But if the devil can rise from Hell, if the devil can choose to change, if people are willing to pray for the one sinner who needs it most - then there's hope for you too, isn't there?
Demons are creatures of rebellion - against God, against nature, against the powers that be, against doom and damnation itself. They were made to be a tool to hurt the innocent, but that's not what they have to be. Devils can lift us up, because no matter how far you fall, no one can say whether it's the end for you except you.
...I would like to point out that I am being figurative here. The devil does not literally exist, at least not in my view of things. He's a fictional character, nothing more. But he's a prolific fictional character, and how we portray him can say so much about us. And, to me, he is a dear friend, despite being imaginary, because the devil was there for me when I was low, and it was on his wings that I rose from doom.
...again, figuratively, not literally.

January 25, the day I found out about the toon patrol for the first time!
Story time: about the day that changed my life!
It was a cold day, and I was sitting on a bench near my next class. I was having a rough time—2024 hadn’t started off great for me. I remember feeling sad, wishing my problems would just disappear. Absentmindedly, I opened TikTok and started scrolling through my usual feed. At the time, I was in the Splatoon and Godzilla fandoms, though I didn’t have many mutuals in those communities. Unfortunately, I’d had to block a lot of people due to toxicity. As I kept scrolling, something caught my eye: a speed-draw of a character I didn’t recognize (who I later learned was Wheezy) from a page called “weaselstan2005.” Intrigued, I dove into their content, watching every video and slowly learning the characters’ names. A little research revealed that they were called the Toon Patrol, and they appeared in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I’d never fully seen the movie before—just snippets of Roger and Jessica Rabbit—but I decided to watch it when I got home.
That day at school, I couldn’t stop thinking about the Toon Patrol. I was so distracted I kept zoning out during class. As soon as I got home, I went straight to my room and started the movie. Watching it was a transformative experience. I laughed and felt a kind of happiness I hadn’t experienced in a long time, especially whenever the Toon Patrol appeared on screen. After that, I spent the rest of the day watching clips of them, reading every wiki page I could find, and learning all I could about the characters. I even started trying to draw them, and it’s fun to look back now and see how much my art has improved since then.
I soon fell down the rabbit hole of fanart and noticed that many fans had original characters, so naturally, I decided to make one too. It’s become a tradition for me to create clown OCs in every fandom I join because I love clowns. My first OC was Jokes, who back then was inspired by Italian opera clowns. Originally, Jokes was supposed to be a character the Toon Patrol didn’t like because he tried to make them laugh—which, could literally kill them. But since I loved Wheezy so much, I made them close friends instead. However that did change and now they don’t know eachother
My second OC, Rollerblade, was created on February 27. At first, he was going to be a spy for the Toon Patrol, with the codename “Bomber,” which later changed to “Roller.” Eventually, while I was on a plane to Japan during spring break, I settled on the name Rollerblade. His role evolved too; instead of being a spy who threw bombs at Roger Rabbit, he became Smartass’s so-called “enemy,” even though Smartass doesn’t even know Rollerblade exists.
More OCs came to life during my time in Japan, and I discovered new art styles along the way. While there, I also stumbled upon Wacky from Bonkers and Br’er Weasel from the Song of the South comics, which sent me further down the rabbit hole of Disney weasels. Over the months, I found more artists and characters, and it all made me happier, helping me forget my problems for a while.
When summer break arrived, I doubled down on my research, explored more art styles, and followed my favorite artists across platforms. That’s when I found Tumblr. I created an account under the name “Soapywoozle” and made my first post on July 1. Joining Tumblr turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve met so many amazing, kind, and creative people here. For the first time, I feel like I truly belong in a fandom—I feel seen instead of ignored. I’m so grateful for everyone I’ve met, and I can’t wait to keep sharing this journey with all of you! ❤️
@marinerainbow @shy-nightmare @basiabd @los-angeles-toon-patrol @loveforskekshod @lastofautumn @sammyanimates @alexissoosigma52288
Thank you all for being the best people I’ve could’ve met! This fandom has made me so happy and has helped me a lot with my mental health! In a way I would like to Thank wheezy in particular since he got me into this fandom! I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t see him!
Maybe if wanted I’ll show all my old toon patrol art and show how my oc’s look back then to show how they’ve changed.
As a small tribute here is some old splatoon clips and photos!

Alright hi sorry I'm feeling emotional today and I have to talk about my absolute favorite song for kraken era Ed ever
So it's this song used in Shin Godzilla (I know that's not where you were expecting me to go, be patient, just let me cook okay). Shin Godzilla, to give you context, is a 2016 Godzilla movie and its basic premise acts as a critique of Japanese governmental bureaucracy and inefficient response to imminent threats (it's usually considered a response to the Fukushima disaster). The Godzilla in this film's gimmick is it evolves rapidly in response to its situation, especially as it's threatened by the people trying to stop it. It starts out a silly little fish guy and by the end it's huge and shooting atomic beams out of its back and bleeding all over the place (yeah, it's like SUPER sad).
So this Godzilla is always responding to threats, like it only shoots atomic beams out of its back because it had bombs dropped on it, and it's in horrible pain basically the entire time. You can probably see where I'm going here
And the song I'm talking about is "Who Will Know (Tragedy)," and it's a song from Godzilla's perspective with two overlapping voices. One voice is just this overwhelming sadness about what's happening to it (the title comes from a line about how no one will ever know it as anything other than this rampaging monster), and the second voice is this desperate cry for basic self-preservation.
Yeah. Yeah. Literally if I hadn't seen this movie and someone told me this song was written specifically for Kraken era Ed I would not bat a fucking eye.
youtube
And because this is already long enough, I'm putting me screaming about all the lyrics under the cut.
Voice 1 in italics and voice 2 in bold!
If I die in this world
But I must carry on
Who will know something of me?
Nothing worse can befall
I am lost, no one knows
All my fears, all my tears
There's no trace of my yearning
Tell my heart there's a hole
I wear a void
As long as breath comes from my mouth
Not even hope
I may yet stand the slightest chance
A downward slope
A shaft of light is all I need
Is all I see
To cease the darkness killing me
Like???? It's just so easy to apply this to Ed holy shit. The fear that if he dies now, no one will remember Ed as he really was? Feeling that he's so lost and no one knows anything of his love? Wearing a void, like dressing himself up in that big black duster version of his outfit and putting on black makeup? And then the second voice, feeling like he has to keep stumbling forward because at least nothing worse can happen to him, just longing for a single shaft of light (holy shit??) to help him pull through?
#ofmd#our flag means death#if i had an ounce of editing skills you can not IMAGINE the edits I would make to this song

Getting to know your mutuals
tagged by @illusivesoul thanks so much for tagging me!!!
I'll tag @baede-6 @spaydekingcayde @silverforestglove @crystariumrose @heywizards @herrshepard but don't feel any obligation to fill it out or anything. Also if you've already been tagged in this or completed it, I apologize for the extra tag!! And please still fill this out even if I didn't tag you! You can still tag me if you do. :3
(questions under the cut)
What's the origin of your blog's title?
It's a quote by the Spider from the Scavenger's Fate loretab in Destiny 2.
Favorite Fandoms: I'm listing these by what I personally enjoy engaging with, rather than what the fandom space in general is like. With that said, Destiny, Pokemon, My Hero Academia, Mass Effect, and The Elder Scrolls are probably my top 5.
OTP(s) + shipname: I really only have one technically, which is Thel 'Vadam and Rtas 'Vadum from the Halo series. I believe in them so passionately...even if I no longer am the ThelRtas blogging giant I used to be years ago on here lmao.
special mention to all my indulgent oc/canon ships too naturally.
Favorite color: I really like blues!
Favorite game: Of all time? Pokemon Crystal probably. First Pokemon game to have the option to play as a girl, the Western release date was on my birthday, and Johto/gen 2 is my favorite....it was written in the stars ngl.
Song stuck in your head: For once, there isn't a song looping through my mind at the moment.
Weirdest habit/trait? Only thing I can really think of is that I tend to idly pick at the skin of my fingertips semi-often. Hard habit to break so far.
Hobbies: Video games and making gifs. Seems sad that I can't really think of anything else at the moment. They're just always my main go-to for an enjoyable time killer.
If you work, what's your profession? Unemployed atm.
If you could have any job you wish what would it be? I always wanted to be a marine biologist or some aquatic science/biology job since high school, but that's no longer an option.
Something you're good at: Nothing comes to mind.
Something you're bad at: Writing.
Something you excel at: Nothing comes to mind.
Something you love: Beefy fictional characters keep me going ngl.
Something you could talk about for hours without off the cuff: Good question, not in a self-deprecating way, but in a "I genuinely don't think I have anything I'd be able to talk for hours about" lmao.
Something you hate: Moths, tbh. I very much respect them and don't go out of my way to kill them or anything, but god do I simply not like them fluttering about near me.
Something you collect: Nothing now, but I used to collect General Grievous figures and Godzilla figures too so I have a modest sized collection of both.
Something you forget: To take my medication. Literally still forget about it even with a daily phone reminder plastered on the lock screen.
What's your love language? Not sure.
Favorite movie/show: Movie I'd say 2004 Van Helsing, and for TV show I'd say Monk.
Favorite food: Steak.
Favorite animal: Crocodilians. Sharks, dogs, sloths, and elephants are also up there.
Are you musical? Not anymore, used to play the flute for 6 years in grade school though. I miss it. :C
What were you like as a child? Unhappy, repressing trauma and near constant traumatic experiences, extremely withdrawn and shy, really low self-esteem, undiagnosed anxiety/depression, etc....but now I do what I can to take care of that little kid still inside me to this day, rip.
Favorite subject at school? Math, believe it or not! It just always made sense to me and that was comforting. I always liked my science classes as well, but math for sure was always my favorite.
Least favorite subject? I loathed English and History classes because I thought they were so boring, honestly. There's definitely a "no wonder you suck at writing and can't even discuss media in a meaningful way" jab opportunity there, but that's honestly just what my preferences were back then.
What's your best character trait? Not sure.
What's your worst character trait? Also not sure.
If you could change any detail of your day right now what would it be? To not have all my close friendships be eroded away to nothing so now I feel like I don't have that support system like I thought I did? That's what's been killing my mental health lately anyway lmao.
If you could travel in time who would you like to meet? A dinosaur.
Recommend one of your favorite fanfics I'll rec @intrepiddreamx 's Destiny 2 fic Diplomatic Ties any day, any time. 😌 (please mind the rating if necessary)

now that you have answered my ask in time and saved me from terrible things i am able to tell you what i require from you……………..
i need you to list your top five favourite movies and why they’re on your top five
THE NOISE I MADE JUST NOW AHHH GOT SO EXCITED I FORGOT TO BREATHE
into the spiderverse (2018)/across the spiderverse (2023) IDGAF im putting them as one movie because i just love them both so much. this is peak cinema to me. the characters the art the music the feeling of my soul ascending to a higher plane whenevr i watch one of these. never get tired of it
everything everywhere all at once (2022). best movie ever made and probably one of the greatest uses of the multiverse concept frfr. unfortunately it also hurts my soul a lot so im scared of it. not funny cried
nope (2022). what can i even say that hasnt been said before?? out of all stories i experienced whether in movie show videogame or book form i think nope has the sickest fucking concept i've ever seen. i actually never stop thinking about it i've never seen an alien story remixed into something this COOL . not to mention that it's a horror that actually managed to SCARE ME, straight up sat horrified for the last half of the movie, and that's not something i experience often!!! so literally jordan peele u are a visionary iwill think of this movie as long as i live
pacific rim (2013). idk this movie's been with me since forever and i've watched it a thousand times it's like a brother to me. i LOVE kaijus (shoutout to all the godzilla movies i cant possibly fit on this top five) i LOVE big robots and i LOVE an action monster movie that actually has compelling human characters that i can care about (and no obnoxious romance) while it's not the best movie i've ever seen my heart will always have a place just for it
.............see, this is where it gets a little impossible for me. top 3 is easy -- those movies will seriously never budge from their spot and they are actually such peak favorites of mine. fourth place is where it gets muddy -- i can just barely get myself to pick a movie i like more than most (and i wouldnt even say it's always pacific rim either, because i seriously have So many favorite movies that mean So much to me and it's really hard to only give a shoutout to one(1)). but fifth spot??? what do i even put here?? madagascar? ratatouille? soul? totoro? men in black? just literally What. i could not possibly choose just one because so many favorite movies of mine i love equally . i could never pick ratatouille over madagascar but i could also never pick madagascar over beetlejuice. so as my fifth favorite movie i redirect you to my list of movies that i love dearly and i could gush about each and every one of them Forever
#with that being said#i am going to give a subtle in the tags shoutout to palm springs (2020) as i rewatched it recently and fell in love with it even more#it's probably the best rendition of the timeloop trope i've ever seen. such creative use of it from how the movie starts down to the whole#premise. and the most important part is that it's so fucking silly and insane and just FUN#and i believe this is what all romances should be. just stupid fun#He got bicurious in the timeloop#cramswering#thank u for asking me this i feel like im gonna pass out i fucking love talking about htings i like

favorite kaiju movies? (want to watch more of them (recently watched pacific rim and went insane) but dont know where to start)
Ooohhh great question!! Godzilla 2014 for sure is my fave. A lot of people dont like it because theres a lot of focus on the humans and not enough on the monsters but that's what makes it be so good for me.
Godzilla king of the monsters has a LOTTTT of kaiju fights and it's insanely gorgeous and pretty but the story is ass and nowhere near the level of care that the first movie had. Completely different vibe too. But its a fun ride!!
Honestly also just watch pacrim again its just That Good.
Kong skull island i really hated the first time i watched it but then watched it a second time and it actually blew my asscheeks off because the cinematography in that movie is actually really stellar.
Godzilla minus one is a MASTERPIECEEEEEEEEE genuinely its amazing in every way i have zero complaints forever i watched it in theaters with my friends and it was such a good time ever I literally cried
Cloverfield is also really really good i enjoyed it. Even though I remember nothing from it 🫡
(I guess i havent really watched that many kaiju movies now that i think about it?? If anyone wants to offer more recs feel free to drop em in the replies here)
#i guess underwater 2020 counts it has Something in it but its there so briefly#its a dope as fuck movie anyways tho fr#ask

Thanks for hearing me out there, I really needed all of that. I think your blog (as well as other tumblr blogs in general like kaiju-krew) help keep me sane while witnessing all sorts of really dumb takes from the fandom, especially from the likes of Twitter and Reddit. The worst takes I've seen so far are the ones that claim that unlike Kong, if Godzilla ever encounters another one of his kind, he would kill them just for disrupting his nap and/or harm a baby of his kind because he's a reptile and something something "alphas in nature kill offspring that isn't their own to prevent competition" and junk like that.
It just really sucks to see them humanize Kong (and in many cases, turn him into a literal saint) while at the same time, reducing Godzilla to just a dumb animal when they're both intelligent and sympathetic but flawed individuals.
Also your comparisons of MV Godzilla to Doomguy and cats is very on-point. All three of them may look and act prickly at first, but there's more to them than just that and if you actually take your time to look past that and get to know them better while respecting their space, they're actually not bad at all. And in the case of both Godzilla and cats, it's kind of like intruding into an introvert's personal space and acting constantly annoying to them, and then getting mad and calling them a jerk once they show signs of wanting you to leave them alone.
(About Matt Frank's post, I took another look at it and he deleted the initial post, probably because of all the backlash he got from it since he misunderstood MV Godzilla's character hard. And in case you're curious on what the post said, it's something on the lines of something like "It's great that MV Godzilla is just an aggro jerkface in the whole movie (GxK) for NO reason at all and I'm all for it").
(That said, his follow-up replies to that are still there and they're still not the best takes. Here they are, for anyone who doesn't have access to that hellish site.)
Yeeeep, this is why I stay as much as possible away from the Twitter and especially the fandom side of Reddit; in fact, there are very specific reasons I would venture into those lawless depths: Check if anyone else has run into a game bug I've encountered and any workarounds for it, or fun gifs I just happened to spy on a Google Image search.
And you know, maybe it's because I just woke up, but to those who demonize Godzilla, I'm about to do something fuckin' hilarious with my power as a fic writer with my own canon at my fingertips. Check this shit out: In an AbraxasVerse take of GxK, when Godzilla is napping in the Colosseum and the authorities are like "what the fuck do we do," who rolls up but THE ACTUAL POPE to welcome the giant napping Nukasaurus Rex and be like "This is a beast of god who protects our world. I talked about this the last time he saved us, did you not listen to my sermon last Mass? For shame. Let the noble beast rest. Amen." Not in those exact words, but yeah.
Oh yeah, @thebeastunleashed showed the the tweets on Discord. Matt, I respect ya as a phenomenal kaiju artist and you're entitled to which Goji's your favorite and also your opinion, but sometimes it's okay to be wrong. (Incidentally, my favorite Godzillas are Heisei and MonsterVerse so I happen to prefer a Godzilla with a soft side.)
#alteringworldscapes#monsterverse#godzilla#abraxasverse#just for funsies#and yes the pope being chill with goji IS abraxasverse canon now. i can do that. because it's funny to me.#italian authorities: the lizard is in our colosseum! the pope: IF HE FITS HE SITS

Do you think Space Godzilla would be Dook LaRue's favorite Godzilla Kaiju?

Space Godzilla is literally Godzilla... But from Space!!! That's all he has going for him. Dook probably wouldn't like Space G because he's mean 😔
I 100% know that Dook's favorite Godzilla movie would be Invasion Of Astro-Monster (1965) because it's the first time Godzilla goes to space. Also the Xilien's outfits remind me so much of the Moonrockers it's not even funny.
(See what happens when I let my Hyperfixations take over my life?)

LAST TIME ON GODZILLA VS THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWERS II: the MMPRs got some kaiju-level upgrades in both their suits and their Zords against the Psycho Rangers. Meanwhile White Ranger and Jet Jaguar are working to free the captured Rangers from Astronema and Rita's clutches. What could possibly go wrong?
It's Godzilla vs the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II #5!
= check out the BESTIES!!!!!!!!! I have to wonder how difficult it was to make a Godzilla Zord design without it just being Green MechaGodzilla
= Take a moment to appreciate the final bit of toxic yuri this series has given us
= Genuinely think the fact that Saba was actually a character again was one of the best parts of this crossover. Why did the Godzilla crossover do that and not the actual MMPR book. Guys.
= Speaking of unfair comparisons to the main series: you gotta admit, this is way more impressive than Darkest Hour's, uh......ten rescued Rangers. I'm just gonna pretend that Lightspeed Rescue Ranger in the front is a female Carter and not a discolored Dana because multiverse
= ALSO IT HAS THE RETURN OF THAT CUTE GIRL FROM #1
WHO ARE YOU!!!!!!!
= god can we please get a shot like this in one of the future Monsterverse movies I would literally DIE right there in the theater
= see you, space cowboys..........
= So they don't actually reveal who White Ranger is but like. it's Tommy. we all know it's Tommy. They don't need to say it's Tommy for us to know.
= Gotta admit: whatever powers they had before, getting the Kaiju powers is a good trade-off. Now where are the TOYS!!!!!!!
= Obviously it's just coincidence but a council of Rita Repulsas is extremely topical considering all the Sonic Prime/Power Rangers Prime jokes being made right now.
so let's see what we got:
I'm seeing Big Rita, Moth Rita, Tentacle Rita, Skull Rita, Eyeball in Forehead Rita, Doll Rita (?) Old Rita, Furry Rita, Baby Rita, Rita where her Hair is her Face (?). Well as long as none of them are a lazy millenial stereotype, that was my least favorite of the Eggmans

Just a big list of some stuff I think is neat
I haven't been super active on here in a minute so I'm just gonna lighting round a bunch of stuff I've been watching/reading X-Men '97- Fucking incredible. This is probably my favorite piece of non comic superhero media since Spectacular Spider-Man. The animation, the melodrama, the narrative showcasing the struggles of building a better tomorrow and existing in a world where your existence is perceived as a threat. Can't wait for season 2 The Crow (1994)- Wanted to get to this before the remake comes out. This is very much a situation where I procrastinated on watching something I knew I'd like and when I finally got around to it I went "Yeah I was right I liked it a lot!" The Crow is equal parts mournful as it is hopeful for a better tomorrow, a balancing act between the grief of loss and celebration of life. A damn shame we lost Brandon Lee so young because he was enthralling the entire film, an irreplaceable talent. The Venture Bros- I was making my way through the series on my own for a good while now. Showing it to some irl friends gave me the excuse to rewatch it all before I see the final season because I LOVE Venture Bros. it has firmly cemented itself as one of my favorite shows ever. I can't even get into it here or this will just become a Venture Bros gush fest. X-Terminators (2022)- Literally just read this today, what a delightful little book. it's a bit weird dropping in here as the book's smack dab in the middle of the nearly finished Krakoa era of the X-Men books. Luckily this needs little to no context as it's 4 of most fun women in the X-Men cast cracking jokes and kicking Dazzler's shitty ex in the dick. Also said ex is a literal blood sucking vampire Shin Ultraman- The last of Hideaki Anno's Shin trilogy I needed to see. Ultraman is admittedly the one I'm least familiar with out of the tokusatsu big 3, but this film made me far more interested in it than I was before. a great action flick about keeping the flame of hope lit even in dire situations. I liked all of the Shin movies but here's how I'd rank them; 1. Shin Godzilla 2. Shin Ultraman 3. Shin Kamen Rider Steven Universe- Soooo, I was one of those kids that listened to shitty criticism of SU back when it was airing and it ruined my perception of the show for years. It took until recently to realize the critics I listened to were not only bad at media analysis (and just a bad person in general) but also outright lying about the contents of the show. to rectify this mistake I've been rewatching SU and man, I was so wrong about this show. It's exceptional stylistically and narratively, and teaches some genuinely well thought out life lessons to it's target age demographic. It's not garbage, it's great! RRR- Admittedly I watched this further back than anything else on this list but that doesn't matter because YOU NEED TO SEE RRR! This movie is 3 hours of distilling the power of friendship and anti-colonial sentiment into the most Dudes Rock movie ever put to film. by the end I was screaming my head off like a crazy person for 20 minutes straight. what are you even doing here reading this? GO WATCH RRR!
