having good & true friends will literally save and protect you in a million unfathomable ways. like okay we have written so many times about lovers. but the way a platonic friend laughs and cries with you. the way they hold your hand at 14 years old and at 34. the way they keep a little silver tie to you, touching base over and over and over. how you can go years without talking, only to re-meet and discover: oh shit! you're still cool!

there are people who have been in my life for more than half of it, and i have loved every version of them. do you know how fucking beautiful that is. yeah love will save the world. but the way friends love you is gonna save the you.

the ubiquity of disposable vapes with fucking screens and bluetooth connectivity and big fucking batteries you can't even charge that all get thrown in the trash is just. it makes me feel like we owe the guys with the big robodick vapes an apology. they were out here figuring out rigs where you only ever have to replace one little metal coil every two weeks, mixing up potions to maximize clouds while carefully monitoring their nicotine dosages, and they got mocked into the stratosphere. and now the bestseller at the gas station is a bootleg elfbar with so much nicotine it's terrifying. where is the justice.

i think the funniest part about people going 'well i love that there's no racism in veilguard actually' is that they're actually stupid because the godawful overtly aggressively racist, islamophobic and orientalist representation of the qunari is right there the ENTIRE TIME completely bald-faced and unapologetic but i guess it doesn't count as racism because... what? this portrayal fits in with your world view of the real life analogues?

#idk abt everyone else but i am and have been complaining abt the portrayal of the qunari esp in datv. because it got WORSE #pretending that the fantasy allegories for racism doesn't exist in order to engage in some propaganda about muslims is not in fact better #it would be fantastic if veilguard was completely apolitical. but it's not. explain to me why all of the factions you can be a playable #character of are Morally Good in the here and now - except a few bad apples - and have 0 moral ambiguity whilst the people they oppose #are entirely & irrevocably evil. to the extent that we have characters having to say '[darkspawn] aren't people. there's no saving them' as #if people STILL dont riot over c/ullen saying that about mages. like can we take a second to think here.#veilguard is not apolitical. and whatever man if you wanna play games without thinking about it. sure. but pretending that veilguard is #apolitical is a dangerous narrative.
