okay so first of all.

on the topic of boobs

this is important to lead with do you understand. most of the akeshu as girls stuff ive seen around has akc as flat-chested and ren as boobed. and that's valid i support that. but personally. personally to me. i think it's the opposite. tbe reason (well one reason) i think it's the opposite is because i think girlren is a little rat of a creature and akechi who is prim and feminine and perfect is so FUCKING angry about her crush on ren like she's barely surviving it and then this is the nail in the coffin. she's like why can't i stop thinking about that messy unassuming thing. she doesn't even have boobs

my other reasons for tihs are that i think joker is more androgynous charm while akechi is more feminine/masculine duality i think this makes sense to nobody else. i think ren regardless of agab is riding the rail of the gender spectrum 🛹 while akc is collecting extremes of gender presentation like they're pokemon do you understand. are we on the same page here. ren being into drag is important to me for this reason (again regardless of agab). meanwhile akechi having very clear feminine secondary sex characteristics but presenting gradually more and more masculine in terms of clothing/hair/personal style etc. is also extremely important to me. and that includes being biog of tity while her style veers more and more into masc as time goes on

i think by third sem girl akechi is starting to dress more androgynously/masculinely. more pants. i think her third sem outfit is unchanged from canon. just a smart coat, sweater, buttondown, slacks. postcanon she gets a haircut.

ren is like so fundamentallyuncomfortable with the fact of his existence at the beginning of canon so to me girlren is like... she dresses like she's trying to hide in her clothes. messy hair. i have no strong feelings about whetehr her hair should be long or short, or whether it's loose or pulled into a tail, but i know it's messsy. untamed curls. and she uses it to hide her face. none of her clothes fit. she's in oversized everything. i have a very clear image in my head of a ren idle animation where she leans down to pull up her leggings because they keep falling down. she also has terrible posture. she's androgynous at this stage not on purpose but because she's too self conscious to like... exist... and present... in any notable way at all

i think as she gets more confident and as the year progresses she starts to dress more distinctively. i like the idea of her getting more comfortable prettying up. maybe working at crossroads helps her with this 🤔 i dont know how to explain this but i think she's still feminine in a gentlemanly chivalrous way rather than a girly cute way. girlren has that same steady calming vibe that guy ren does

i think given girl akechi's use of her feminine charms to gain popularity, her hero complex would be similarly gendered given we have confirmation that robin hood represents not (only) heroics for altruistic reasons but also the theatre of being seen doing good. there's a real drama element to the idea of a magical girl transformation that i honestly wish we got for male crow too. i always am depressed that we don't get to see much theatre for akechi's initial appearance as crow and summoning of robin hood, anyway, girlcrow has ribbons and a capelet that flap in non-existent wind.

i lik 2 explore her dynamic with takenaka & i think alot of people do honestly LOL. initially of course takenaka feels like a little bit of bitterness towards her because he understands she'd probably see him as nothing more than a guinea pig for her obsessions. but post telepathy arc i think they get along more cause he understands her way of thinking and fears & she understands that he (and others) actually DO care. i like to think they hang out & he manages to read her really well after a while without even needing telepathy.

i think she plays mhfu. i think this because i'm autistic leave me alone. tri ultimate makes more sense considering it was the most recent game to come out at that time but also it's got the smallest monster roster of any of the games, so mhfu it is. i think she'd main insect glaive (having essentially a telepathic communication with a little insect friend is such a cool idea to her) and her favorite monster would be yama tsukami. yama is literally perfect. it's outlandish, has a completely unique skeleton from any other monster in the games (save for yama kurai who was technically not a canon monster because it only existed in frontier) and it is quite literally an UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT. she would think that's rad as hell, and be very sad that it's not a popular monster (only solidifying her concept of isolation/alienation from her peers, liking things that are unusual to enjoy)

a weird hc i always had for her. i think she plucks out her eyebrow hairs so they r a little patchy almost? i knew someone who used 2 do that when i was younger and i think its something she would have done . speaking of hair she definitely cuts her own hair. i think her and mezato would get along so well. its such a shame we never get a proper interaction between them. obviously their only canon interactions are accompanied by shigeo in which both of them r trying to grab his attention in some way and theres a little bit of conflict in that (tome realizing shige is a little uncomfortable with mezato pestering him about the cult & swooping in to give him an out) but i think if they genuinely decided 2 meet up and hang out they'd be a force to behold . girls who are wildly enthusiastic about their particular craft who seem to be somewhat outcasted even from their peers who hold similar interests. mezato being the most interested member of the journaling club & tome being the only person in the telepathy club who actually gives a fuck about telepathy!!!!! the thing about mezato though is that i dont think she is self conscious in the way that tome is. tome's like. worried about taking up others' time with her own interests that she clearly is the only one interested in. she thinks she should be grateful that they're even listening to her (atleast thats what i gathered from takenaka's reading of her thoughts during telepathy arc) and that no one but her truly gives a shit about the things she's into. and i dont have a firm grasp on mezato's character, but i think shes something of an inverse of tome in that sense. mezato's more confident about her interests, as well as being more confident in parading it around maybe. so i think they'd get along by being inverses of eachother. im not confident in describing mezato so i hope you kind of get what im saying

Okay, I'm trying to firm up some thoughts about heteronormativity for the world of dunmeshi. We don't see any explicit homophobia (afaik???), and it's a little hard to separate real life heteronormativity from the potential in-universe kind, BUT there are a lot of the markers of gender roles and prejudices that often come with this stuff, and I want to dissect some of them.

DISCLAIMER I am painting with a broad brush here just to summarize what I've observed/what we know. Obviously all these races/cultures are going to have a variety of different subcultures within them and opinions/norms/laws/etc can vary a lot. No group is a monolith etc etc but this is a high level look at stuff.

Also I'd prefer people only reblog this if they are participating in the convo/adding something. This is for my reference and I'd rather it not spread much, at the moment. Thanks for understanding!

So... Laios and Falin had arranged marriages to a girl and boy, respectively, along with there being a slew of other prejudices they grew up around, so that's a glimpse into the tall-men culture in the northern continent.

There are a lot of different cultures in the archipelago but at very least the Nakamoto clan currently works in what looks like a patriarchal structure, though all of Shuro's siblings are male so I guess we don't technically know if women can inherit? Hien kind of assumes that she and Shuro might end up romantically involved in a sort of "well that's how it works" way which is fairly heteronormative so I think its fair to say that on a baseline level that assumption is present there.

Since Otta is judged more for dating short-life races than for dating women, it seems like maybe elven culture is more flexible. HOWEVER they are such a Power Structure TM and the noble houses care so fucking much about lineage and status that I have trouble believing that it's completely free of problems. Probably at least the nobility is expected to fit in heterosexual molds? Idk. They do look more androgenous and overall feminine than the other races, so that could also contribute to more fluidity. Of note here also is that in addition to a canon lesbian in Otta, Lycion also is Extremely Transgender. Though also of note: these people are the criminals in the group. So.

I don't know that there's as much info to work off of for the gnomes, dwarves, and half-foot cultures.

Dwarves have very strong family ties, which COULD lean towards heteronormativity but doesn't necessarily have to. Some dwarven women in dwarven cultures let their facial hair grow out - it's not necessarily super common, but it's much more likely to happen there than in a place like the Island. I lean towards thinking that they are more flexible, and maybe it varies from family to family how much there is an expectation of heterosexuality. Like the elves, they are more androgynous than most of the other races, AND one of our other major mostly canon queer characters (beloved bi Namari) is dwarven.

No idea about gnomes. The most prominent gnomes we see are the married Flokes and Holm. Holm's sister seems to have a bit of a thing for Kabru, so that's a couple of points towards Heterosexual Gnomes, but hardly anything definitive. They also live alongside dwarves so I imagine that if the dwarves are flexible they probably aren't significantly more strict about stuff. Also!! Kiki is the last of what I'd label the Mostly Canon queer characters, and she and Kaka were raised by gnomes! So that does seem to fit the "more overtly queer characters have ties to less heteronormative seeming cultures".

Again, no real idea about half-foot stuff. Chilchuck got married young and was a teen dad. Two of his kids seem very Interested In Men, the third gives big lesbian vibes. All of these things seem like they could be as much just orientation as anything socially enforced. I do think it's notable though that, while Flertem and Puckpatti are explicitly and loudly Into Men, Meijack is just quiet and gives off Vibes.

Ummmm yeah orcs (at least the ones we see) also have hierarchies based around polygyny so that's them.

YEAH that's most of what I can pull together currently? I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on interpreting all this, and if there are any lore details I missed!

Generally speaking I'm inclined to believe that heteronormativity exists as a baseline undercurrent in a lot of regions and cultures, and is more enforced in places that are either A) dominated by hierarchies (eg elven noble families) or B) insular and xenophobic in a variety of ways (eg Laios and Falin's hometown).

hiiii could i have an arcane matchup?

i'm agender (they/them, but feminine terms/titles are fine by me) and queer (STRONG preference towards women), and i'd prefer a romantic matchup but platonic works fine as well. i'm 5'5" (average height queen), i have curly, black, shoulder length hair and bangs. sometimes i straighten my hair if i have the time and energy but usually i just leave it natural. i have fairly pale skin with slight pink undertones, and a few freckles on my nose. my eyes are mostly blue with a little bit of green (my mom used to say i had some gold specks in there so idk what color they are really tbh). i have a pretty casual/somewhat athletic style, since my job does require me to be active, but i accessorize to high heavens with necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and any ring i can find, pretty much. i try to look as androgynous as possible at any given time.

a basic list of my interests: animation, digital art, creative writing, acting, broadway, theater tech (such as running lights/sound/spotlight, being a stagehand, just all of the cool backstage stuff), painting, cosplay and costume making is a BIG one, really anything artsy.

now the weird interests that don't really fit into the above category: roller coaster mechanics/accidents and how to avoid them, herpetology (mainly snakes but other reptiles as well), self defense, airports (not anything specific about them, i just really like the environment in airports)

i really like music! music is a HUUUUUGE part of my life. my favorite style personally is fast paced punk rock kinda style, but any sort of alt rock fits my vibe. i really like MSI (the music, not the people themselves, screw those guys), and some various songs by FOB, The Used, Pierce The Veil, Destroy Boys, etc. I do also love music of other, more undefined genres. I'm absolutely in love with Panic! at the Disco's Vices and Virtues album, specifically Sarah Smiles and Nearly Witches. And a few other songs/artists here and there (like will wood? and jack stauber) but those are my main ones. Sharing music I like is such a big deal for me in literally any relationship.

Speaking of relationships! My love languages are mainly physical touch (receiving) and acts of service (giving). But other "love languages," or just little things that I do with people I'm comfortable with are: rant about my interests/try to get them into said interests, sharing music (like i said), sharing memes and things that remind me of them, and (here's a really niche one) making cosplays of their favorite characters (if applicable, there are some cosplays i just can't do). the way i love is just pure devotion. if i'm in a relationship with someone, they are my everything, i would do anything for them.

i'm an enfp, 6w7, i'm extremely outgoing and have a tendency to strike up conversations with random people. i'm a performer, an actor, everything is a performance to me. i'm an incredibly artsy person, constantly creating something (mainly in the form of writing or physical art/drawings and sketches). my humor is very much just one-liners that are kinda hit or miss, depends on the audience. i understand very well the concept of masking who you are for the sake of acceptance, progress, etc. in public, i'm a completely different person, putting on somewhat of a professional, agreeable front for the sake of getting people to like me. i'm a performer with connections, i know the right people and they'll give me a huge advantage in my future as i try to get where i want to be. i'm not afraid to abandon some ideals and morals to get there. this is not something i'm proud of.

i'm neurodivergent, but incredibly good at masking it. when i'm around the right people, it's obvious, but i don't usually let myself unmask in public. to really know me is to know two different sides of me. anyway, i'm surprisingly organized. i have a meticulous morning routine (i'm a morning person through and through) that requires me to wake up two hours early every morning, but i don't mind (even though i don't really sleep). i get easily overwhelmed specifically by temperature. if it's too hot, i shut down, it makes it hard to function. i'm also somewhat prone to anxiety attacks, and i have bad paranoia, so it takes me a while to really trust someone.

i think my main personal struggle is that i focus on other people more than myself. relationships tend to feel like a sacrifice. i will abandon my own mental and physical health if it means helping someone that i care about (or someone who makes me feel validated but thats a different story). i'm also an incredibly hard worker, so much so that getting things done tends to be my main focus, even over essentials like eating, sleeping, showering, etc.

I’ve nicknamed Y/N after what pet names they’re called. So it wouldn’t get repetitive with Y/N and I’m taking these to be as Gender neutral as possible. But there are only so many names T~T

In a perfect world- I would have a more feminine and a masculine one. But unfortunately I am but one person and 24 designs is a lot T~T so I went for smth androgynous. Though- I wish I could do all of them with hairstyles in both feminine, Masculine, and in both white and poc hair. I have such cute ideas T~T but again- time lol (feel free to ask what they are tho lol)

I tried my hardest to make these match the skelly of choice best I could lol, they're at least color picked lol. And these are supposed to be them like, within the first while of reseting underground. So what they look like for majority of the story. Though I think some of them need a bit of explanation lol (Like the horrors)

And actually, I had done what was at the time, my sona, long time ago in outfits pretty close though mine were a bit feminine to be nuetral. So I actually had some designs in mind when I started! And the nicknames are based on ones I already had in mind lol. So technically Skelly matches Y/N not the other way around lol.

I'm also making these with the assumption they live in Snowdin and it is cold. So that's why it's all pretty covering.

Ok now onto the individual commentary lol

But ok having matching space names with Meteorite is so cute is it not??? And obviously you're his little starshine <3. I love that I got to incorporate the fluff from his hoodie strings with the earmuffs. I think thats cute <3 and I almost made them pink lol, but to match I went with that grey lol

Sunshine's also a good one, because I think to match up, or even keep up with Rocket you got to be pretty upbeat lol, so Sunshine fits perfectly, and still vaguely matches lol. The outfit is also pretty solid! Still color block

US:

Buns <3 I think Buns and Lucky match pretty well, since Buns is close to and/or short for Bunny, and Rabits foot being Lucky- pretty close match! (Also if you use Bunny, Lucky, Bee, and Hunny, they all almost rhyme lol) But another sporty type! Or again at least upbeat! So a kind of joggers outfit so they don't freeze lol, tho Buns seems like an airy kind of person tbh, so light clothes above ground lol

Hunny and Bee just made so much sense lol, almost a no brainer. Even better, Bee is a super domestic type, so he would so call his S/O Hunny, idk why I chose to spell it Hunny, but I did and it stuck lol. I also love the parka for Hunny, I know the more obvious choice would be for doll, but I think it works well for Hunny and Bee's cozy vibe <3

UF:

Doll- this is one of the names I know is a bit feminine, but idk what else to really use? Shadow is the type to call you 'Doll, Sweetheart, ect' but Sweetheart didn't seem like a good nickname, so I went Doll. And with Doll's design I'm still a little ehhhh on, but it needs to be gender neutral so it's what I got lol. Originally Doll had an off the shoulder sweater, with the same knitting's pattern down the front, so I had to bring up the neckline lol. But in turn I did give Doll thumb holes in the sweater so like only their fingers show through the top of the sleeve cuff <3 Oh and the collar is to match a head cannon that I like about collars in fell culture showing that someone is taking care of the person wearing it. S/O would be given one quickly to help keep them safe.

Prince/ss was another one that was little difficult, but I think the slash fixes it- at least imo if y'all think otherwise lemme know lol. But Knight is very chivalrous and formal lol, so only the fanciest nicknames for his beloved <3. The outfit was easy though lol, with the general characterization I have for Prince/ss, being that overtime underground they become confident and capable to handle themselves with training under Knight, something bold and kind of aggressive was right for them. Prince/ss has a collar for the same reason Doll does.

SF:

Darling~ easy name choice, something sweet and classy lol matches Chardonnay just right lol, maybe not in theme, but in style. Their outfit was a little more difficult to do so it was different enough from Chardonnay but still matches, and is gender neutral lol. But I settled for tying the jacket in a knot at the waist. If I wasn't jsut doing half bodies rn- I might of made them a small top big pants lol, but also cold lol Darling has a fancy collar lol, Chardonnay is big into jewelry, so obviously he only gives the best lol, it's also got silver and some metal in it to match him lol.

Angel was also a pretty easy name, Silver thinks very highly of his S/O and that they're much better than he deserves, so Angel was a fitting name. Now their outfit was also pretty easy- but I do have some story with it lol. So I've mentioned Silver's underground issues, in the skelly intro post. So underground he's pretty distant underground, doesn't even really believe you're there. So it causes a little heartache, and you're mostly assisted by Chardonnay (who is happy to help the person who got his brother clean at one point-) Angel does have a collar but you can't quite see it, but it's a small thin black one from Chardonnay.

HT:

Now with Lamb things get funky lol, the name was pretty easy, it's not my favorite one, but I think it works lol. But they're already so torn up??? The way I'm setting HT is that they get in some trouble on the way back to the HT bros house, and with Lamb finding Pumpkin quickly they get out better than Sugar. Still scarred but not as bad.

Sugar however was not as lucky- it took Sugar longer to find Muffin, though they did find Muffin first as both brothers were out that day. And Sugar got into more trouble for longer and lost an eye. (Just an aside- but any hairstyle with Sugar has the hair pulled back on the side with the good eye so they can see as much as they can) Sugar's name is cute tho <3 Muffin- even tho being affected by the 'food' is still very sweet, and will still call you sweet things <3 and obviously food is very important to the HT bros so its a high compliment too lol

FSG:

Boba- this one took forever name wise, I thought about smth like Champagne for awhile, but thought it was too many wine names lol. I also tried bubbles or bubbly to reference Champagne but it never worked. I thought about coffee or things like juice, but settle on Boba, like Boba tea, so all the FSG people have drink themed names lol. Outfit was easier though lol, Long overcoat to keep warm, and basic black shirt and dress pants to be formal but still neutral.

Cocoa was an easy name, I thought of it one day and it stuck so hard lol, and it's so cute along side Coffee Bean <3 Outfit I saw while looking for an outfit for Boba and went Oh!!! Cocoa outfit!!! lol It matches Coffee super well too I think <3

Cult of The Lamb hc’s (part of me feels like I should wait till I play the game myself - or watch a full playthrough at least - before I “solidify” these but meh. For now at least these are how I see things):

* Kinda typical hc I feel like but Leshy is the youngest, then it’s Heket, Narinder, Kallamar, and then Shamura is the oldest.

* Idk what their ages would be chronologically wise but my personal hc’s for “biological” age are: Leshy (21), Heket (25), Narinder (27), Kallamar (32), and Shamura (40). I think Lamb is about 200 years chronologically but 28 “biologically” (I think it’s funny if they’re “older” than Narinder)

* I don’t have a name for them yet but my version of the Yellow Cat is a little bit fucked up actually. Like they seem chill and they kinda are? But they’ve got a body count. And no not the sex kind. Think of that one audio where the guy answers the body count with 30 and when it’s clarified that it’s about sex he’s like “Oh well I haven’t done that yet!” And the other persons like “WHAT DOES 30 MEAN THEN???”

* I need y’all to know I project onto The Lamb HARD. So yeah, they always wanted to be kind and sorta made it a big part of their personality. Unfortunately their world and circumstances just doesn’t allow for their kindness. They still try to be as kind as they can be, but it’s hard when you’re slowly ascending to godhood, especially into the god of death.

* Also Agender Lamb. They/Them and ONLY They/Them Lamb all the way. Demi ro & sex & pan. They’re a?ab (assigned ??? At birth; bc I can’t decide but if you MUST know I think they can shapeshift a bit now so. Maybe they forgot themself lol). Presents androgynously, leaning either way whenever they feel like it. They have a more masc voice though I think, like the ones people use in comic dubs a lot.

* I think once the bishops become followers their injuries are worse but they can still “work” around them: Leshy can kinda see things if they’re up close. Heket can sorta speak but not fast and she’s got. Well not a sore throat bc. She doesn’t have one of those anymore. But something akin to that constantly. Kallamar can only hear loud things or if someone spoke into his ear directly (he only allows those in his polycule and his siblings (minus Narinder) to get that close). Shamura does get a bit lost in their own mind, and even when they’re more conscious their memory is spotty.

* Back to my Yellow Cat being a bit fucked up: They actually really liked the idea of chaos (though they hardly show it) so when they find out Leshy was the bishop of chaos instead of being scared or unnerved they’re like “*twirls hair (fur??)* ha ha ha, omg, really~?”

* *slaps the top of The Lamb, Leshy, and probably so many others don’t underestimate me* these bitches can fit so much adhd (+ autism probably) in them

Cairngorm...

what an interesting character.

So, i'm at the part where Aechmea says they're being controlled by bits of ghost quartz, has them removed, big personality shift, etc.

And like, when i first read it i took that at face value and assumed it was true, but like

Is it though? Is it really?

Like... Would such small pieces really have that much of an impact? And in the eyes, something already established as not strictly being part of their bodies in the same way as the rest of them?

Phos sure hasn't had such a significant change, and you can't even assume it's just from getting inert materials attached since, y'know, the whole head transplant thing.

Like, big changes? Of course! But nothing THAT severe.

(Not to mention that the biggest influence Lapis did have (the whole showing up in Phos's dreams thing) they specifically said was something special they did, y'know?)

I mean, from what Aechama said you could maybe think the eyes the eyes are special... But Phos also just had an eye replaced and again. No change THAT big.

I mean, hell, if little bits of Ghost supposedly had such an impact, Why didn't Cairn making up most of Ghost's body do nearly as much? Isn't it safe to assume that to some extent anything Ghost wanted up to the point they were removed was probably also wanted by Cairn? Wouldn't they have enough influence to shift Ghost's priorities otherwise?

So like. idk. Makes more sense to me to just kind of assume Aechmea was bullshitting lol.

Like, the only thing I'd consider real evidence in favor of it was Cairn falling apart, which I guess you could blame on Ghost... But we also know (and were shown extensively only a few chapters before!) that the gems just do that when they're distressed.

That's not to say i don't think Cairn's new wants and personality are like, fake or the result of brainwashing or something dumb like that.

I think it's real. I just think they already wanted that and Aechmea gave them an excuse to finally act on it.

Even if Ghost had that much of an influence - and again, I highly doubt that - I can't imagine it was total control. I'm almost certain Cairn did care about Phos that much at the start. But like, 100 years and so many big changes...

It's not really hard to believe Cairn just... changed, while Phos was gone, and was suppressing that out of some sense of obligation and attachment to Ghost.

(Especially considering how many times we've also been told recently Cairn is a good actor. Like, if you've been lying to yourself for a century... Yeah.)

And then you tell them they can be free of that and, well, it's not surprising they took it.

And of course I can't not mention it so like. Cairn is clearly trans right. Went from presenting androgynously (and arguably closer to masc than most of the gems) and took the first opportunity to be more feminine.

And so like, spending so long trying to fulfill this role you were given by other people and suppress any urges to be something else, then jumping right to it the first time someone goes "ok, but you don't actually have to do that" is like.

Yeah.

It fits better thematically to me if Cairn was doing that to themself. To fufill expectations of others, but still to themself. Like, even calling Aechmea a liar (which he is. even if this was true just like, in general.) I don't know if I even consider this one malicious.

I'm sure there's some trans people among the Lunarians and like, it's been tens of thousands of years. I'd be very unsurprised if he legitimately did just go like "well, I can see what's going on here, but I can't really explain gender to the gems so let's just lie instead."

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he actually was trying to help Cairn, is what I mean.

Anyway, I'll see if anything later contradicts this, but those are my current thoughts.

You’re very very right about the lack of diversity in character design, esp thinking about it in regards to CR3. Like Laudna is clearly meant to be a lot more willowy and uncanny looking than she’s shown in the character art. & the many many issues w/ Ashton’s design aside [I just,,Don’t like his design much. There was potential buts it’s just. Eh., it’s weak], it makes like zero sense for him to look the way he does being a barbarian!! Not that he has to be huge & all by any means, but he does not read barbarian aside from his big ol hammer :p

i honestly quite like laudna's design overall, i think its hard to tell though, how thin she is, since she's very covered up. i actually really love her face and how her teeth dont quite fit in her mouth, which is something common with very underweight people, and i like her big dark eyes. ... i find her hard to draw quite right tho. and i think (no offense /g) in the fandom is really where people smooth her out, take away any wrinkle, and just make her kind of pretty and soft... like, no, i want her skin to be translucent. show me the veins in her eyelids!!!!

yea. . ashton's design is rly not my favourite. i redesigned him, which, i no longer rly like that drawing, mostly because of how i drew their hair. recently i've been trying to figure out how to draw the crystals even tho the idea makes my skin crawl a little lol. the main problem i have with their design is the colours - their clothes are similar values, a dark grey and a Bright red, and it just clashes with the purple and specific green of their skin .. in this last drawing of ashton i posted i think it's sorta better while still keeping the same colours, so theres that - also i think darker colours fits his character more, down in the shadowy alleys and bars of jrusar. also yea, not a fan of how totally shredded and sinewy he is, he needs to hydrate lol

my least favourite of the cr3 designs is between them and imogen though..i redesigned imogen recently and that was so much fun. i just think , her canon design doesn't suit her at all.. it's just a bit nothing-y, like a generic tomb-raiding (yikes) video game protagonist. and i think a hat suits her super well, since as well as mind-reading she has migraines and prefers to go unseen, so, she shades herself from the sun and staring with the hat.. also i just covered her up more so she wouldn't get sunburnt kajndks, its all light materials.. im just worried about her skin. also thought something a little more,, idk androgynous (??) practical (??) might be cool. like, she's got her waist-coast and her hat and bandana round her neck.. so turned her from sexy tomb-raider halloween costume to a cowboy, like her backstory is clearly inspired by :-] !! idk thats a ramble, i should catch up on cr3 i love imogen v much she has so much autism swag and she's so cool 2 me

please excuse any spelling errors bc I am currently typing with one eye open haha. (also under a read more bc i got wordy sorry I hope this helps!! I'm here for you anon!!)

So, I was about 19 when I realized that 'girl' didn't really fit me? Looking back I think it might have always been like this, but I grew up in a small southern town where the only out gay person was bullied so relentlessly that he left town and we never saw him again.

So, 19, I come across this tumblr account that centered heavily on genderfluidity, and for a while that identity felt safe to me? I've always been more masculine leaning in general, from a very young age and at the time (this was 2011) genderfluid seemed right. I would fluidly slip between masc and fem and it all felt comfortable and safe and nothing like I'd ever experienced before. Small town me finding out there was more than just gay, lesbian, bi and trans? (trans here in the sense of transgender like, trans man or trans woman).

So yeah, I think at that point for me though, I just lost my mom, I was dealing with a lot of stuff and I didn't have the bandwidth to look too far into anything beyond something that finally made sense in my brain. So while I do still stand by me ID'ing as genderfluid for a few years, it never actually felt right. And you know? That's okay. It was sort of a stepping stone for me, I think. To look more into other gender identities. Because at that time, beyond genderfluid I only knew of trans men and trans women, in like I guess the binary gender sense?

To preface this, I know that definitions of transgender has changed over the years, this is just my personal experience with all of this, which is why some of it may come off as idk outdated?

Anyway, while I ID'd as genderfluid, I went by a masculine nickname and still used she/her pronouns just because I didn't really consider using anything else. Someone once referred to me using he and that sorta felt okay? But also not...right? At the same time. Like it felt better than she, but in the sense that it was a little off to the left of better. Not a perfect fit, but an okay one.

Honestly I could probably dig deep enough on my blog and maybe find some ramblings from that time if I tried hard enough, though I can't for the life of me figure out what I'd have tagged it haha.

So, I don't exactly remember what finally brought on nonbinary other than once I told someone that I didn't really feel like a person? I felt more like a genderless blob so to speak, and that she/her and he/him didn't really feel right to me.

And that friend was like 'well what about they?'

And then someone referred to me using they and everything sort of clicked into place right after that.

My experiences with gender have been quite turbulent, in the past I've dealt with heavy gender dysphoria because I had this idea in my mind that I needed to look androgynous in order to identify as nonbinary. That I wasn't nonbinary enough if I had tits. I binded for several years and fucked my ribs up with it because I am also fat. So, in I would say 2013 is when I finally started using nonbinary? So internet culture led me to believe I needed to be thin and have a flat chest in order to be the right kind of nonbinary, because otherwise I was just a woman.

I still get called she/her in my real life, other than my husband and our friend who both use they/them when referring to me. But, I've learned these past several years that nonbinary doesn't look a certain way? That I don't have to be more masculine leaning in order to ID that way. It feels right, when people use they/them and when they call me Lee, which is why I typically introduce myself that way, other than doctor's offices, and other official places use my birth name.

It took a lot of growing for me, because I had so many negative ideas about femininity and how I could also navigate that while being nonbinary. I refused to wear makeup for the longest time because I thought that that meant I was just faking it, and being a woman.

I've always wanted to be feminine but in the same way that like, a masculine person can be feminine, I guess? So like, in a 'cis man wears a dress and makeup' sort of way if that makes sense.

And I had this idea that I couldn't do that, otherwise I was just a fake nonbinary person?

What ultimately helped me was in 2016/2017 when I worked for Home Depot, my head cashier actually lead a local lgbt+ group and she immediately latched onto me not being straight or cis. Again, this was the south so there was a little bit of growing pains, we all ended up sitting down and talking about gender identity, I talked with some older people who were nonbinary and it opened my mind to start viewing things in a way that like, helped me, I guess?

Like, yeah, makeup is traditionally worn by a woman, but because I am not a woman, wearing makeup does not make me a woman. Just as wearing traditionally masculine clothing, does not make me a man. It just makes me a person wearing make up or a person wearing clothing.

I think overall, if I would have stayed on the internet and kept listening to those people who say that you have to look/be a certain way in order to be nonbinary, I wouldn't have probably reconciled my own issues with how I perceived myself vs nonbinary.

Overall, I'd say start small, the first thing I did was use neutral pronouns, this isn't to say you can't use neopronouns if those feel right to you, or use something like he/they or she/they bc a lot of nonbinary people do that too.

It's okay to experiment with gender. It's okay to tell your friends that you want to be referred to using only neutral pronouns, or a set neopronouns, or what have you. See how that feels.

Take a step back and look at how you perceive certain things, when I was finally able to let go of the idea that things had to be gendered, and that those gendered things only fit one particular gender, it made things so much easier for me.

I stopped hating my chest. Like I'd said earlier, I binded for a while, and it was so uncomfortable, but I Felt like I had to just because of what I'd heard the uh "gatekeepers of gender" say. But now? finding a bra that fits nicely and accentuates my chest? Euphoric.

None of that makes me a woman. I am just a person, and I like things.

Living in the south, good luck with me trying to ever explain this to people around here. So I'm out, but I'm not explicitly out I guess. If people clock it? Good for them. If not? Oh well. I don't really correct people on my pronouns, just because I've finally reached a point where I'm okay with it. My sister and brother in law still call me by my birth name and that's fine too. Because in my head, my name is Lee and my birth name is just a nickname that they have for me.

And again, all of this came with time. With several years. I started this when I was 19 and I'm 31 now, so it took a decent chunk. It's important that you've got a good support system too. Henlo! I am Sophy/X-AL, whichever you think fits me best! I am the Androgynous, mythical being whom runs this little blog in my corner of Tumblr! Meet Blorbo From My Game

Maybe you have been wondering what happened with all that sims in the polls stuff. Maybe you haven’t thought about it a single time since you voted. Maybe this is the first time you hear about it. Maybe you would like a link to the masterpost even though there’s not much there yet. I don’t know, but I do have an update. I finally got my laptop back, so I really wanted to just start playing without waiting for more polls. I could always change stuff later. It turns out the screenshots the game takes fucking suck, so there’s gonna be some pretty bad pics :(

So we have our sim, who I named “Blorbo From My Game”. You voted for the “other” gender option. Finding non binary mods was harder than I thought it would be, but I did get an androgynous body shape and a handful of clothes for it. I want to see if I’ll be able to alter clothes to fit the body shape, but my only experience with sims 2 cc is making shitty recolours when I was younger and simPE does scare me a little.

Blorbo’s aspiration is romance, and their lifetime want is to have 20 simultanious lovers. Although you get to pick your LTW in sims 3 and 4, it is random in the sims 2. It gets rerolled if you change your aspiration or complete the LTW, but that’s pretty much all you can do to control it without cheats or mods. I hope you like cheating (the romantic kind, not the motherlode kind), cause it looks like this is gonna be Blorbo:

Speaking of pride flags, I was too impatient to wait for a gender preference poll. I’m sorry about the lack of democracy. I kinda went with the assumption that you would probably vote for both.

Blorbo lives in a starter house in strangetown, which got one percent more votes than some of the other options. Based on the amount of votes it seems mathematically impossible, and might just be the result of how tumblr rounds the percentages to get 100? Either way, strangetown is iconic.

They must like animals, because they wanted to get a pet. They adopted an adorable black kitten called Bonkers. That’s the name the shelter gave him, and i absolutely did not feel the need to change it.

Blorbo really wanted to flirt with Ryan Wheeler even though they have terrible chemistry. That obviously didn’t go well. He looks so disgusted.

Afterwards he left the birdcage open. Was it just carelessness, or something more sinister?

Nothing bad happened though. Maybe because Bonkers is a teeny tiny kitten, or because he is well behaved, or maybe cats can’t even attack birds in ts2. *looks it up* yeah, they can’t. They also can’t escape. Where’s the drama in that? Ryan’s inability to hurt Polly doesn’t change the fact that he is the worst.

Blorbo went out and had some dinner, which was served quickly and without glitches even though sims 2 nightlife came out so many years before sims 4 dine out. Then they met some guy I forgot the name of, and had a date that was too mediocre to screenshot. Idk why they only roll wants to flirt with men. They are supposed to be attracted to women too.

Bonkers grew up into an adult, and shortly after he got taken away because of starvation. This happened while the bowl was full, so this is fucking bullshit. Polly also got taken away. Ryan must be to blame somehow, even though that doesn’t make any sense and isn’t something that can happen in the game. He trained Bonkers to starve himself. Fuck you, Ryan.
