#that first year of just kakashi and sasuke on their own without obito is a rollercoaster

Really stupid au where when they were younger, Kakashi and Obito shared an accidental kiss a lot like Sasuke and Naruto. (Kakashi commits to his mask shortly after but will never not insist it's unrelated)
Years later and Kakashi, trying to cheer up Naruto and Sasuke ab their own embaressing accidental first kiss, shares his own story
Then, years later when Obito reveals himself on the battlefield, instead of going "woah, another Uchiha!?" when he hears his name, Naruto can't help but point and shout OH MY GOD UR THE GUY WHO KISSED SENSEI!!!!!!!!
Instant dead silence. (Obito wants to die)
Sakura, who never heard the story ab how it was a one time accidental kiss: "omg... sensei's childhood boyfriend went evil on him... this is so fucked up"
Obito is VIOLENTLY thrown off by this turn of events (and also hasn't actually thought ab it in years oh my god that did happen didn't it)
Kakashi, seeing how badly it threw him off, and also the kind of person who plays hard into throwing people off and generally fucking w them to gain an edge, seeing Sakura mumbling ab lovers to enemies and just kinda goes "Yeah Obito I can't believe you'd do this to me I thought we had smthn special."
"Yeah a rivalry????"
"So I was only ever a way for u to get stronger,, figures u were using me,,,"
[Confused Obito car crash noises]
Sakura yells smthn ab him being a deadbeat and how Kakashi can do so much better and Naruto is instantly shouting in agreement as Sasuke stands there like "hn." Which is basically the same thing for him
Kakashi just starts straight up lying actually
"What about all those picnics we went on... watching the sun set over konoha..."
"Are you talking about when Minato said we weren't allowed to come back inside till we stopped arguing and ate on opposite ends of the roof bc we couldn't even look at eachother without yelling???"
"It was so romantic."
Obito, starting to actually doubt himself, "was that a date????"
(It was not.)
"You died in my arms..."
"I died under a rock"
"We literally got eye married" (not a thing, he just made this up 3 seconds ago)
"We got WHAT" (no one can prove him wrong tho bc no surviving Uchiha knows that much ab their clans marriage traditions)
"Oh my god sensei's husband is a deadbeat" - sakura, horrified (and maybe a little delighted)
"Figures." -Sasuke, who's been in proximity w Obito for some time now and absoloutley believes every word ab this topic Kakashi is saying
"Woah. This is almost as bad as the fact he murdered my parents when I was a baby dattebayo" - Naruto who's priorities are NOT what they should be
"Ok. I wouldn't go that far." - Sasuke, who's priorities are also fucked but not THAT fucked, oh my god Naruto
"No, no he's right. We should kill him even harder for this" - Sakura, who doesn't actually agree but wants an excuse for more juicy sensei love drama (and also wants to see Obito beaten to death anyways)

one of the funniest things about Itachi and Sasuke is that they are BOTH so 'I love it when people play mind games with me. I will kill us both <3' coded likkkke!!
His FATHER spent Itachi's whole life grooming him to lead a coup and become the first Uchiha Hokage, and Itachi spent every second he could undermining that and then eventually has no choice but to kill him! Danzo (and Hiruzen) backed Itachi into a corner and made him do the unthinkable, so Itachi made a 10 year plan for his own death and fully intended to murder Danzo if he ever tried to pull some shit with Sauske village be damned, and THEN Sasuke finding out about the whole situaiton IS what killed Danzo in the end, and it WASN'T EVEN PART OF ITACHI'S PLAN!! Obito got so angry at this 6 year old for being an optimist and a pacifist that he killed his teammates and then actively assisted the kid in an ethnic cleansing to break Itachi's spirit and make him an ideal pawn for the Akatsuki, and Itachi just! Got super depressed (again, 10 year death plan) and hated his guts and starts dissociating whenever Obito talks!! He delays the Akatsuki's plans by years because Obito is now nervous to directly attack Konoha while Itachi's still breathing! and he's STILL spying for Konoha and Obito is either willfully ignorant because he thinks Itachi is a lame party pooper or too scared to do anything about it!!
And Sasuke???? SASUKE!!! Spends his ENTIRE LIFE under the thumb of people who think they know him and how to manipulate him and are wrong EVERY TIME! Orochimaru thinks his thirst for power is so all consuming that he doesn't care about himself or anything else outside of killing Itachi and is thus incapable of independant scheming or betrayal, and he gets KILLED FOR IT! Obito makes the SAME damn mistake he made with Itachi and underestimates Sasuke because he thinks that he's so broken by his brother's fate that he's suseptible to any and all suggestion, and Sasuke doesn't give a FUCK about ANYTHING besides his own plans anymore, and is absolutely just going to do whatever he thinks is right until it inevitably kills him, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised it Obito was on his hitlist- and, at the end of the day, Obito DOES end up dead!! Gaara tries to empathize but is still learning empathy so instead Sasuke just feels like his LITERAL GENOCIDE is being trivialized, and ALMOST dies for it! Danzo assumes he's just another corrupted wayward Uchiha, and gets KILLED FOR IT! Kakashi thinks that Sasuke is Just Like Him For Real and thus he knows that Sasuke is beyond saving and must die, and gets ALMOST killed for it and then proven WRONG!! Literally ALL of the fucking HOKAGE try to plea for Konoha's legitimacy and lie like DOGS using all of their politician plays of why Sasuke should Stop, and he calls bullshit on all of it anyway! Sasuke spent his entire young life getting passed around like a hot potatoe between men projecting their own trauma onto him and convincing themselves that they know his every move because they once were him, but NO ONE has EVER been doing it like Sasuke and none of them accounted for the fact that he's so scared of everything and full of love and never wrong and not afraid of death or any of them and they've been dead since Sasuke decided they were annoying!!
Naruto and Sakura were only able to get through to him at ALL because Naruto lacks the decorum to be manipulative and thus Sasuke can engage with his bullheaded arguments without feeling actively hunted (like he HAS BEEN his WHOLE LIFE) and Sakura actually DOES understand him and his motivations and his soul in it's entirety because she spent their adolescence studying him like a bug, so she can meet him EXACTLY where he's at. The only person in the world who ever successfully manipulated Sasuke was Itachi, which makes sense considering he mastered the art of it FIRST!!
#uchiha itachi#uchiha sasuke#sasuke uchiha#itachi uchiha#the only person who ever successfully manipulated Itachi without suffering any concequences was arguably Shisui#who employed the genius tactics of 1. being an actual literal GOD of manipulation and teeheeing#and 2. killing himself before Itachi could ask any questions. this is not a critique btw I love shisui <3 <3#not a typo btw. Sasuke is afraid of just about everything EXCEPT death and men who tell him what to do. hope this helps

hi, do you think when sarada awoken the mangeko (as much as i wish that trashy awakening wasn't real it unfortunately is) because of she cared for brto and was a die hard fan or was she just really upset that no one belived her and thought she was spouting nonsense? for me i low-key feel that it is the latter since sarada seems to have more concern for herself and the fact that she thinking that everyone denying her reality affected her so much to the point of awakening ms? it's still bad tho
Unfortunately if we're being realistic, nobody fkin knows what triggered it, there are two primary theories in the fandom and both are factually false
1 She was overwhelmed, everybody suddenly hunting/attacking Boruto, hearing Naruto was killed, her father not believing her, and finally her desperate plea for him to save Boruto is was caused her MS
2 her immense love for Boruto and fear of him being killed is what triggered it
Both of these are factually wrong, others may wanna live by Ikemoto's bs rules but Im not, Kishimoto didnt spend 15 yrs establishing this power up for us to just be like 'well none of that matters now cuz Ikemoto did different' stfu, the original creator >>> an incompetent assistant that constantly says fk what Kishimoto established in his own verse to make whatever bs plot/scenario he needs to work. In this case, he needed 'change Boruto's fate' and justify Sasuke leaving with Boruto for 3 years so he pulled that omnipotence bs and then made Sarada awaken her MS solely to convince Sasuke to believe her, there was literally no other purpose than that.
So for a memory refresher, why is her MS awakening factually wrong? because neither of the explanations people give are how the MS WORKS.
This is literally in part one where we're first introduced and explained to how the MS is obtained.
Itachi says you have to kill your closest friend to obtain the MS which isnt a lie, but its not the entire truth either, but the general idea is the same as I will show here where we get more detail.
Tobirama, like Itachi, are correct in their statements, but once again it is not the entire truth either because as we've seen several times the BASE Sharingan can evolve without feelings of hatred, but a strong desire to protect those dear to you, grief, and losing a dear loved one are all triggers for the Sharingans evolution, this is further proven by the fact that Kagami and Shisui never fell into the 'curse of hatred' and still had fully evolved Sharingan, Shisui even had MS despite wanting to follow a completely pacifistic path.
Now lets go over the actual difficulty in how it is obtained, lets look at the databook first, I took the liberty of highlighting the relevant parts for those who like to stay in denial whenever this topic comes up.
A cursed ocular ninjutsu only obtainable through great sacrifice.
Through the entire history of the Uchiha clan, it was rare for a member to be able to weild the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Here's the part I want you to keep in mind going forward because I WILL be coming back to it later.
Through the entire history of the Uchiha clan
Remember that for later, now moving on to the next point, ok so thats databook statements but what about in verse? the same thing.
It was rare to obtain the MS, the clan would literally slaughter eachother trying to gain it to no avail because its NOT a simple and easy thing to obtain, otherwise everyone in the Uchiha clan would've had MS if it was just as simple as killing your own kin or being overwhelmed etc [refer to the bs reasons ppl give for why Sarada gained hers] but it actually took SPECIFIC requirements to gain, and we were shown what those were several times.
I think you notice the common theme here, Obito got his MS from seeing his best friend kill Rin, his first love, Kakashi got his at the same time from the act of killing Rin by accident, Itachi got his from watching Shisui commit suicide, Sasuke got his after killing his brother and then learning the truth about Itachi and his clan.
The theme is clear, the requirements to awaken it are even more clear, there is literally no amount of gaslighting anyone can do to overrule whats literally been consistently shown in the canon danm manga by the original creator himself.
'Oh yall just wanted Sarada to be edgy like everyone else Im glad her MS was different' is the stupidest response to this, nobody said they wanted her to be edgy, they just want her danm MS to follow the rules that have been established for 15 years. Also Shisui wasnt edgy and he had MS, so I dont even know how anyone thinks thats a gotcha anyway, she could literally still be the loving Sarada she's always been and still get MS because hatred isnt the only way the Sharingan evolves. I dunno why someone actually thought that was a rebuttal, but it just goes to show how ignorant these ppl are about how the MS works and only care about things being 'different' instead of caring about the actual worldbuilding.
Now lets move onto Sarada, her base Sharingan, although lackluster, still evolved in a way that was consistent with what was set up in OG. She awakened her sharingan for the first time due to her years of pain and longing of missing her dad and then being overjoyed when she was finally about to meet him at last. This wasnt unusual because Sasuke awakened his third tomoe because of how overwhelmed he was that Naruto considered him a brother, his first bond, and his dear friend, despite Sasuke literally trying to kill him right now and cut ties with him, Naruto's sincere love for him made his final tomoe appear. This is why the base Sharingan evolving in this way is not unusual, as long as the emotions are strong enough and struck a cord with them, then the Sharingan will evolve.
This is not the same for MS though, it is a completely different eye with a completely different set of rules, this is why Sarada's awakening is complete ass and not only that but literally breaks the rules of the verse.
Keep this in mind, she hears Naruto, her idol, the man who she aspires to be like, who at one point she wished was her dad, is dead, but not only that, she hears Mitsuki say hes going to kill Boruto. Remember this for what Im about to say next.
This is several minutes after she was told Naruto was dead and that Mitsuki was going to kill Boruto, her eyes didnt budge when she heard Naruto was dead, nor did her eyes budge hearing literally EVERYONE is actively hunting Boruto now.
At the very least the news of Naruto's death was more in line with how the MS awakens, so if she heard that and got her MS from it then it wouldnt have been all that difficult to accept, but unfortunately thats not what happened, she just sat there and cried, no reaction to Naruto dying, and no reaction to hearing and seeing Mitsuki trying to kill Boruto.
So what did trigger it? her being overwhelmed? false because thats what she was in the panels I've shown, she had been sitting there for several minutes with all this chaos goin on around her and no MS, not even her dad not believing her is what triggered it, literally NOTHING anyone tries to say it was triggered it, your literally looking at the panels, her eyes didnt BUDGE.
So what did trigger it then? if none of that did it then what did?
I shit you not, I cannot make this shit up, what triggered her MS was literally because 'Why cant Boruto ever catch a break?'
When I tell you my blood boiled reading that line words cannot describe the rage I felt because the total and I mean TOTAL disregard of everything, EVERYTHING that has happened to her dad, her idol Naruto, and Kawaki was infuriating because she NEVER asked why they cant catch a break, but now all of a sudden because poor Boruto is going through it right now all of a sudden its too cruel.
Her father lost his eye and got fatally beaten up by both Borushiki and Isshiki, Naruto was nearly killed by Isshiki and Borushiki, Kawaki was hunted down by Delta, Code, Isshiki, and Momo, Amado put karma back on him without his permission or anyones knowledge, Kawaki was slowly being consumed by Isshiki through his karma the same as Boruto was with Momoshiki and she didnt give af about NONE of that.
NONE OF THAT
She didnt give af about ANY of it, know who she did tho? Boruto, in chapter 69 who is she telling Mitsuki she feels bad for being unable to protect? Boruto, who is she angry at herself for not being reliable for? Boruto, who does she want to get stronger for so she can help them more? Boruto. This is literally right after Naruto nearly died, Kawaki nearly died, and Boruto nearly died, but the only one she gave a danm about was Boruto.
So you want the real answer to what triggered her MS? Ima be real with you, its honestly anybodys guess because Ikemoto is so bad at properly building up and portraying things clearly compared to Kishimoto, you can see clearly what the MS triggers were for everyone I showed and it isnt up for debate, its clear as day, but Sarada? you literally have to friggin guess because it just pops up so randomly your caught off guard wondering where tf that even came from.
Im not even kidding I've reread this scene so many times and I can NOT pinpoint what the trigger actually was, the only thing I can say is that the turning point was Sumire telling Sarada the cause of everything thats going on, Sarada then falls apart more because 'This is too cruel, why cant Boruto ever catch a break' which again is complete bullshit but I digress...so then she pleads for her dad to believe her and help Boruto because he's innocent but Sasuke doesnt, this is supposedly where the shift happens because her eyes are hidden during these panels.
She basically tells her dad that even if none of this makes sense to him, just to please trust her and grant her this one selfish request, aka saving Boruto.
Im not even kidding but...this is just so danm bad for her...like if I were to be completely generous and unbiased here then I can only make one conclusion from whats been laid out here and that is that her MS awakened simply because she desperately wanted her dad to save Boruto, she wanted her dad to do her this favor no matter what, she wanted him to do it so badly that her MS awakened.
That is the only explanation that can be taken from this, and that is why this is rightfully seen as the WORST MS awakening we've ever seen and why its a complete and utter disappointment because look at this shit, LOOK AT IT, she's just standing there crying and beggin daddy to help when she's had the chance to do something her danm self.
Remember earlier when she heard Mitsuki say he was gonna go kill Boruto? if she was that concerned why she aint go try to stop him? she heard everyone else out to hunt him too and yet she didnt try to go protect him from them either, I mean she could jump infront of Boruto to protect him from KK, she could jump infront of Boruto to protect him from Kawaki, she can abandon her mission to come save Boruto from Shojoji, but FOR SOME REASON she cant stand up and protect Boruto from all the people hunting him right now? her childhood friend this fandom swears up and down shes madly inlove with? she cant stand up and protect him when he needs her the most!?
I aint sayin I wanted her to be the one to leave with Boruto hell no, but leaving with him and protecting him are two entirely different things, she could've easily saved him from Inoshikacho, Chocho would've definitely tried hearin Sarada out, Sasuke could've arrived and Sarada tries to appeal to all of them there, most likely Inojin and Shikadai wouldnt believe her, Chocho is her best friend so she'd know atleast something has to be wrong for Sarada to be so insistent, and Sasuke would be the most inclined to believe her because hes already witnessed something similar with the infinite Tsukiyomi, so is it really all that impossible that Ada, who literally has Otsutsuki dna, to mass brainwash ppl? Sasuke could've told Inoshikacho to leave and let him deal with Boruto and then thats when they discuss Sarada staying behind and Sasuke leaving with Boruto for the time being.
There was no NEED for MS to achieve that, all it would've taken is a little time and effort and CARE to make that ending WORK without having to throw in a forced af power up to justify it because you were too lazy to actually write something that made sense.
But if she MUST have gotten her MS before part one was over, I can show the best opportunities they could've made it happen at.
Kawaki was about to kill Boruto, she tried asking him calmly what is going on but Kawaki just tells her not to interfere if she doesnt wanna die which shocks Sarada because this isnt like Kawaki at all, they were all friends and teammates and not long ago Kawaki was on edge trying his hardest to protect Boruto and now hes suddenly trying to kill him. Boruto told her to run but she refused and chose to protect him anyway despite Kawaki being serious about killing her if she interfered, however when actually faced with that reality she froze which resulted in Boruto saving HER instead and losing his eye.
This was a good place for MS to awaken because someone she thought was a friend is now trying to kill her other friend, her friend shes known since childhood and she cant understand why. She thought she could protect him but failed to be able to follow through and that caused her friend SHE was supposed to be protecting to end up protecting HER and losing his eye because of it. She's feeling immense guilt, betrayal, frustration, helplessness, and now she knows for sure that Kawaki really will kill both of them without hesitation.
However for this to work the scene will have to be changed a bit, Kawaki would knock Sarada out of the way cuz she isnt who he really wants to kill and then proceed to seemingly kill Boruto right infront of her before she can react in time to stop it, I say seemingly because Momo has consistently saved Boruto from otherwise fatal/irreversible injuries. Anyway after Kawaki seemingly deals the fatal blow, Sarada's MS will awaken, right then is when everyone arrives to restrain Kawaki, things play out relatively the same but only even more hostile since he apparently killed Boruto, eventually after their back and forth Boruto wakes up but its Momoshiki in control now same as the manga and he helps Kawaki escape the same way too, only difference is everyones not just shocked Momos helping but that Boruto somehow even survived, this is just another flex of Momos healing capabilities however.
Anyway thats one way she could've gotten MS that is consistent with the established rules of how the MS works.
The other moment that would've worked is the Boro fight, when everyone was getting taken out one by one and seemingly all about to be killed and Sarada was helpless on the ground after being crushed, that was more than enough reason for her MS to awaken as Boruto, Kawaki, and Mitsuki were all out cold and as good as dead.
Unfortunately neither of those happened, and thus were given the weakest, stupidest, most lackluster MS awakening in Uchiha history. Speaking of Uchiha history, remember that like I told you to remember? this is why.
A cursed ocular ninjutsu only obtainable through great sacrifice.
What did Sarada sacrifice for her MS? nothing, she sat there and cried and then begged her dad for help.
Through the entire history of the Uchiha clan, it was rare for a member to be able to weild the Mangekyou Sharingan.
THROUGH THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE UCHIHA CLAN, it was RARE for a member to obtain the MS
Keywords, through the entire history of the Uchiha clan, so tell me Saradas MS is bullshit deniers, why was it SO RARE for Uchihas throughout their ENTIRE history to gain the MS if all it took was being a little overwhelmed and scared? this clan faught WARS, children DIED loved ones DIED Uchihas [and Senjus] lived in constant fear EVERY SINGLE DAY and they NEVER awakened it it from that, not even through killing their own kin willingly to gain the power up worked, so please tell me how Sarada can just change something THATS NEVER BEEN A THING in the ENTIRE history of the Uchiha clans existence, please tell me how you think Sarada can just completely change history just by crying and begging.
You cant, because its bullshit and you know it, the MS was rare for a reason, it took SACRIFICE, it took LOSS, you didnt gain it by just sitting on your ass crying and doing nothing, being scared wasnt enough to trigger it, being overwhelmed wasnt enough to trigger it, fearing for your loved ones life wasnt enough to trigger it, but you want me to believe suddenly NOW it is? do you have any idea how disrespectful that is to the entire Uchiha clan to say that none of them ever had to die, they just simply had to be in a chaotic situation [which they were] and cry about it and boom, every single Uchiha could've had their MS easy peasy.
Gtf outta here man and just be real, her MS is bullshit plan and simple and it breaks the established rules of the verse created by Kishimoto himself. IN NO WAY is simply desperately wanting your dad to save your friend enough to awaken your MS, maybe evolve your base Sharingan, but not MS.
So yea to answer your question, the most accurate conclusion to be had from this scene, although factually incorrect for the rules of the verse, In Ikemotos verse however, Sarada's MS awakened because of her desperation for her dad to save Boruto, she wanted that so bad her MS awakened as proof of just how desperate she was for her dad to grant her request, that is the truth of what triggered it.
Im not saying this happened out of some romantic love she has for Boruto, no, but thats still her dear friend shes known her entire life, I dunno why ppl treating her MS awakening in reference to him means she loves him romantically...like I literally saw a tiktok recently where Sarada says 'I awakened my MS for you' and when asked why/how she saids 'Because I like you' and I was just like 😑 yea no wonder people keep defending this garbage, they really do NOT understand how the MS works at all. Out of all the Uchiha's we've seen awaken MS, Obito was the only one who did out of romantic love, the rest was familiar or platonic love, so why her MS awakening is somehow proof of her romantic love for him that till this day is still unconfirmed is beyond me but whatever, these ppl will stay delusional no matter what the facts same so yea, I hope this was able to answer your question.

Can't you just choose one thing you wanna know about?
Grrr okay sakura or kakashi lore
Sakura lore💀
Ok
So uhh
She born into a nobody clan
Like literally the first Shinobi there
She spent most of her time at the academy looking at Sasuke and making fun of Naruto
She mastered walking over water and trees way faster than Naruto and Sasuke because of her amazing chakra control
This was also the reason she broke free during the chunin attack
We also see her general immunity to genjutsu in the last when she is the only one to remain awake
This feat is rather impressive as for all of humanity's history jinchuriki were thought to be immune due to having 2 chakra signatures
She also mastered medical ninjutsu at a level comparable to Tsunade at just 16 years of age showing that while she isn't a god she is still a progidy
Now kakashi has always been strong
His father had a run on sight order because facing him meant certain death for anyone involved
These genes were clearly passed down
Kakashi's mother is unknown
However when kakashi was young his father chose to forsake a mission to save his teammates
This lead to him being bullied and ostracized
Until eventually one morning
Kakashi found the corpse of his father laying on the living room floor
Curled into the fetal positive
Knife dug into his own stomach
This lead to severe trauma from kakashi's part
Now kakashi was still strong
Strong enough to pass the bell test without teamworks
Not much happens until we to the kannabi bridge mission
Here we see just how strong his father was as 2 Shinobi run in fear of seeing Kakashi's blade and white hair
However on this mission kakashi learns to value his teammates more than the mission, thanks to Obito reminding him just how great of a man his father was
Kakashi loses an eye during this mission after getting surprise attacked but gets saved by Obito
Obito later saves him again presumedly at the cost of his own life
Now giving him a present he didn't want to give earlier in the day as they just became friends on this mission
This present was his sharingan
Kakashi goes on to complete the mission, winning the third great Shinobi war for the hidden leaf
kakashi is allowed to keep the sharingan by fugaku (Uchiha clan leader) as it was obitos last wish
Kakashi would later in his mid to late teens join the anbu
Going on murdering spree after murdering spree causing a slow decline to his already damaged mental health
After a while of this Minato (now hokage) assigns kakashi to protect his wife, kushina
Kakashi fails at this when the 9 tails attacks the leaf because he isn't allowed to fight due to him still being underage
Danzo uses this to his advantage and gets kakashi to join the root (a corrupt version of the anbu)
Tho eventually kakashi wises up and leaves the root after saving Yamato
After a while he finally becomes the jonin we know and love today
Later going on to teach team 7
And now we're at the start of the show and my fingers are tired
If you still want more kakashi lore I'll write it dw

Ohhh i have so many idea’s it’s hard ro choose just one. But, for your KakaObi loving brain
There’s this one thought i had of Yua and Obito meeting after the fourth great shinobi war. Where Obito lives and returns to the village, perhaps even spends some time in jail (like sasuke did) before being released with some restrictions.
And one of the first people he see’s when he’s let out is Yua, Kakashi’s mom.
Obito expects to be yelled at. To be scolded and insulted for everything he has done, and he feels he deserves it on some level. Espeshally from Yua. If he hurt anyone with his actions it was mostly Kakashi and Naruto (at least of the people who know him) and he expects anger
Instead he’s greeted with dango and someone willing to let him talk. Someone willing to sit down and listen to him.
Yua doesn’t agree with what Obito did and holds her own judgements inside of her heart, buy she remmembers the little boy who used to always get into arguments with her son. Who screamed about being Hokage one day and becoming the strongest shinobi in Konoha.
I think Yua would want to listen to his story. To hear why he chose the route he did, and just let him talk.
Obito never got a chance to really process everythi ng. He just wallowed in his loss and anger and it fueled him.
I would like a story where Yua sits and lets him aay everything he has kept inside for years, without judgement or interuption.
Obito needs to talk about it but i feel like he won’t talk to Kakashi (he would maybe be afraid of hurting Kakashi further) or someone he doesn’t know at all like Naruto
But yua? The woman who used to always smile and tell her son to be nice to him? Who helped his grandmother with chores once in a while because she knew what a struggle it could be raising a child on her own.
I think he’d be willing to talk a bit more to her

Little summarized info post!!!
[ Note: Majority of this was discussed with @kamuito / @gemdeus / @kakuchiwa and @norxii and @allgather!!! So when I’m talking about certain characters, I’m talking about their muses!!! ]
Let’s start with. The biggest bit of info. She’s Obito’s younger sister and was practically raised by him for the first couple of years of her life until Minato goes ‘alright, I can’t let these kids live like this and adopts her and takes her in. she’s 5 years younger than her brother.
She oftens watches Rin, Obito and Kakashi’s training!!! And likes hanging out with them outside of the training as well!!!
Girl is devastated when learning about her brother’s ‘death’ and gets genuinely upset whenever someone talks about it as if he died like a true shinobi. rip anyone who dares to do it because she will bite.
When she starts her own training, she’s put in a team together with Makio and Hinatsuru and eventually the three fall in love and start dating. at some point they also meet Tengen, who has had a different and much more extreme training and fall for him as well and he falls for them and BOOM. all four of them are dating.
after Minato and Kushina’s death, she proceeds to take care of Naruto just like how Obito took care of her.
the massacre happens and she is one of the two survivors together with Sasuke. she’s knocked out at the start by her own brother, recognizing him right before she passes out.
she starts claiming that she believes Obito is alive, to with the majority of the village responds that she’s a fool-- and they even start treating her like one.
it all becomes too much and she and her partners choose to leave the village. of course, she makes sure Naruto is save first and promises to keep contact through letters. she joins the demon slayer corps with her partners and starts fighting and slaying demons together with them.
the red light district arc happens etc etc etc. and the couple retires after the demon siblings are defeated.
a few more peaceful months pass by until the final battle against Muzan starts. upset because she’s tired of losing people, she awakens her sharingan and runs into the battle. she survives but definitely not without injury.
Several more peaceful years pass by until she learns about the war and who is involved and once again chooses to take a break from her retirement and joins in as well, to do what she can.

When one of them saw Boruto dodging Isshiki's eye bars easily and without karma, he said:
Boruto would not have used all the techniques that Sasuke taught him without karma... and this is according to Sasuke's admission that karma helps him learn techniques quickly... 🥴 And secondly, the jougan did not bring it from the market... Toneri planted it there... Secondly, he fights with techniques Momishki... who learned it centuries and centuries ago... Boruto only owns the Rasengan which he took from his father and grandfather... the lightning and water style and got it from his mother because she is a Hyūga... 🥴🥴 so the drum beat is more... at least Naruto, the old generation, used to work hard to learn techniques, and they took misery and fatigue and did not take it at the ready, like Boruto and Kawaki 🥴 in the cold and relaxed
And i said to him:
Firstly, Sasuke did not say that karma helped him learn quickly. This is nonsense on your part. He did not use karma for training in the first place. In fact, Sasuke said that Boruto is a genius, talented, and quick to learn, and he did not bring karma into the matter. Secondly, Toneri did not plant the Jogan in Boruto in the first place. It was mentioned in The story is that he did something to speed up the Jougan's early awakening and he obtained it naturally, and there is nothing at all that says that Toneri planted it in him. Thirdly, any of Momoshiki's Rasengan techniques are not from Momoshiki's techniques, and the Uzuhiko is a Rasengan technique invented by Boruto, and Boruto worked for three years to be this powerful. Also, Boruto, after Naruto and Hinata were sealed, was never as strong as he is now, and even with Karma, he was not as strong as this. Also, what is the experience of years? It is true that Boruto is gaining experience, but he does not have years of experience, and in fact, Boruto is not modified, and also the same is Boruto. Without karma, it's nothing but something. I forgot what's wrong with the person stronger than Isshiki. Without karma, you say, "Without karma, it's nothing but Boruto doesn't even use karma."
And he said:
regarding the Uzuhiki Rasengan... If Boruto had not died and Momoshiki had sacrificed all of his pure Atsutsuki data and genes to repair Boruto's body, Boruto would not have been able to use the Rasengan to control the gravity of the Earth and the planets... Because only the Atsutsuki or those who have their genes have This type of jutsu.. 😒😒 Also, Boruto's quick movements in which he controls time and the time that appears in quick steps... and others and others... are all from the Atsutsuki genes... and the proof is that Daimon and Ida have the Shibai genes... they have Supernatural techniques like this, like controlling the planets and influencing them, are part of Shinjutsu... Boruto wasn't just the inventor of them... he discovered them from Momoshiki's genes... and worked to obtain a technique that suits the nature of his chakra When Kakashi obtained Obito's Sharingan, he was able to imitate a thousand jutsu... and use the lighting blade... and the black lightning blade (he means kamui lightning blade)... when he lost it, he was able to develop the lightning style and obtain the purple lightning... and all of these techniques were later acquired by Boruto. ...by Momoshiki absorbing most of the jutsu that Boruto threw from the advanced ninja tool Momoshiki mentioned before that the Otsutsuki are quick to adapt, possess extraordinary techniques, absorb jutsu and use it directly without training... and are quick to gain experience and techniques from the fights they engage in and from the chakra fruits they absorb... so they always gain new powers 🥴🥴 🥴...And since Boruto has become a pure and complete otsutsuki, he now has their advantages, such as speed of learning, developing techniques, throwing them ten times their strength, etc...🥴🥴🥴 I mean, karma is just a key.
And i said:
First of all, who told you that the Uzuhiko controls the gravity of the planet, and what else would it do? If it were not for the data and genes of the Otsutsuki, he would not have been able to use the Uzuhiko, uncle. Three years ago, Boruto would not have been this strong and fast, after Momoshiki sacrificed his data, even with karma, Boruto would not have been this strong and fast, and also Boruto would not have used one of the Otsutsuki's abilities, since the Rasengan was one of the Otsutsuki's abilities. Also, regarding Boruto's fast movements, even after Momoshiki sacrificed his data, Boruto would not have had this speed until three years later, and also when the Otsutsuki were using ninjutsu, and who told you that the Uzuhiko Shinjuto and It is actually a Rasengan, and it is Ninjutsu, not Shinjutsu, and the Rasengan is not from Momoshiki, but from Boruto, and in fact, Momoshiki did not use things like Boruto except for them when he used it on his body, meaning Boruto is the one who invented the Uzuhiku.
Also, all the jutsu that Momoshiki absorbed from the ninja's scientific tool, Purple Lightning, was not one of those techniques at all. On top of that, Momoshiki unleashed all of those techniques on Naruto in the Chunin exams, and he did not keep them. In fact, this is what he did with Boruto's use of Purple Lightning. Purple Lightning was originally a technique. Sasuke is the one who taught it to Boruto, and also Momoshiki, and not once did he combine purple lightning with a sword or a weapon, just as Sasuke used to combine the Chidori with his sword, and Boruto changed it himself. Sasuke's method, your words about this are just nonsense, and also Momoshiki's words about the things you said have nothing to do with Boruto, that's it. The only thing that Boruto has acquired is the Otsutsuki body only, and he did not gain any Otsutsuki experience or developing techniques in the first place, not from Momoshiki, but from Boruto, because he was the one who developed it, not Momoshiki, and Boruto did not absorb any jutsu, and in fact he uses karma in order to absorb jutsu, and without karma, he cannot. He actually trained for three years and reached the level, and Sasuke said that Boruto is a fast learner, genius, and talented, and Boruto has not gained experience related to Otsutsuki. He only has an Otsutsuki body. In order to gain Otsutsuki experience, you need to use the essence of karma that he talked about as a code, but Boruto did not use it. Karma Boruto only gained the body of the Otsutsuki and not the experience of the Otsutsuki in strength or developing techniques. Boruto is still Boruto, but only his grandfather became the Otsutsuki.
Also, Momoshiki used to launch his techniques without using a hand movement, and when Boruto used the purple lightning, he did a hand movement, and not only his special technique, “Thunderbolt Arrow,” which became stronger and larger, and he used a hand movement to use it.
If Boruto really became this strong because of what this person said, then this was since he became Otsutsuki, then why didn't Boruto use all these techniques and show all this strength against Kawaki three years ago, even using karma, he wasn't this strong, then how could this be the reason for his strength? Three years later, and not only that, a year after he left with Sasuke, he faced Code and Sasuke said that he and Boruto were no match for him. If after three years Boruto really became this strong because of what this person said, then why did he not defeat Code at that time as he did in Konoha
Karama only gives experiences when it is activated and Boruto has always been stated to be a genius. Just the fact he mastered the Rasengan in days and even added his chakra nature to it by accident is proof of this. The Jougan is from Boruto not Toneri, Toneri is just aware of it.
Everything Boruto can do now he learnt over those three years nothing was just given to him.
Also this is way to long an ask.

To Serve and Protect (Bookends AU) [3k; AO3]
Summary: Sasuke takes his protectiveness over his new kitten Tabi to an extreme and, somehow, Yamato is the one paying the price.
a/n: In terms of the Bookends-verse timeline, this takes place less than a year after Obito left Kakashi and Sasuke. Sasuke is around 8-years-old. :)
For more notes, art, and ramblings about this 'verse, you can visit the Bookends tag!
“It’s not going to hurt him.”
“How do you know?”
“Because I was raised by dogs. I know what I’m dealing with.”
“Dogs are not cats.”
Kakashi obviously knows this, and he knows Sasuke knows that he knows this, but there’s no point in responding with anything but agreement when Sasuke is set on being nothing but disagreeable, so Kakashi simply nods as he rinses his plate at the kitchen sink.
“You’re right,” he says, without a trace of humor. Dogs aren’t cats.” He places the clean plate in the dish rack and accepts a stale mug of coffee that Sasuke pushes at him. All morning Sasuke has been laboring under the impression that the more insistently he shoves that mug into Kakashi’s hands, the faster the coffee within will be consumed, but Kakashi ignores Sasuke’s urgent staring, fully intent on finishing his drink at his own pace.
The brat is rushing him. On a Saturday morning. Kakashi is still wearing his bathrobe and slippers, and until very recently, he planned on wearing them for many more hours to come, but Sasuke had other ideas. This became abundantly clear when Kakashi shuffled bleary-eyed into the living room with his copy of The Kiss Quotient tucked under his arm only to find Sasuke sitting fully dressed at their modest dining table, hands neatly folded on top of each other and frowning disapprovingly like Kakashi had missed morning curfew, a concept that neither exists in their home nor in that of any self-respecting household. Sasuke then looked at the clock with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, which Kakashi ignored with equal subtlety, making a necessary detour to the kitchen for coffee.
Kakashi knew that overcoming Sasuke’s concerns about trimming Tabi’s nails would not be an easy task. However, he had thought it would be less painful than the main event. This proved to be an error on his part, one made apparent by a suddenly very needy Sasuke following Kakashi around the kitchen as he prepared breakfast, hitting him with question after question. Even after they sat down to eat, Sasuke left his breakfast mostly untouched, too busy interrogating Kakashi to appreciate the chunks of tomatoes that had been loaded into his eggs.
“Let me ask you something,” Kakashi counters, draining his mug and running it under the water, “have I ever once cut off one of your fingers or toes while trimming your nails?”
Sasuke’s brow furrows. “No.”
“Exactly. I have a pretty good track record. You yourself are a witness to my brilliance.”
Sasuke thinks about this for a moment, which gives Kakashi a chance to escape and grab a new mug hanging underneath the cupboards (The one with the dancing frog in a top hat and bowtie, singing “Don’t worry, be hoppy!” A birthday gift from Naruto and a concept Sasuke has - at this particular moment - regrettably yet to identify with.) and pour himself a fresh cup of coffee. The moment is short-lived, however, and Sasuke soon reappears at his side.
“But why can’t we have Dr. Inuzuka do it?” This is the second time he’s asked this - only now he has his bottom lip popped out in a pout that Kakashi knows all too well.
“Because,” he replies with great patience, “this is something we can do ourselves. Dr. Inuzuka has a lot of other patients to see every day, some with much more serious problems than a simple case of overgrown nails. We don’t want to take up her time when she has other sick animals to treat who need her more.”
Sasuke seems to respect this explanation. The plight of helpless animals is something he can’t argue with. Kakashi pats his head affectionately and takes this break in the line of interrogation to finally indulge in a sip of his coffee. He sighs contentedly through his nose and looks out into the living room. The dogs are arranged much like Kakashi wishes he himself was, lounging about their little oasis in various states of laziness. There’s just one notable exception.
Kakashi inspects the neat row of food bowls by their shoebox of a pantry and sees that the smallest of them is still filled with food. Untouched.
“Sasuke, where’s Tabi?”
Though it pains him to abandon his coffee a second time, the look on Sasuke’s face leaves Kakashi little choice but to set his mug down and make a swift exit from the kitchen. He can feel Sasuke on his heels by the time he reaches the hallway off the living room, and it comes as no surprise when Sasuke skirts into his path and throws himself against the bedroom door, his back hitting it with a dramatic thump as he shoots his arms out protectively on either side of him. He doesn’t so much as blink as he meets Kakashi’s eyes.
Kakashi has not had enough coffee for this. He stares down his nose at Sasuke. “Kid, if you think I won’t pry you off that door with whatever means necessary, you are sorely mistaken.”
Sasuke raises his arm and points a defiant finger at the sign hanging on the door that reads in crayon scrawl: SASUKE’S ROOM NO DOGS ALLOWED.
Kakashi raises an eyebrow. “Are you suggesting I’m a dog?”
“You said this is my room. My special alone space.”
“Your room stops being your special alone space when I have reasonable evidence to suggest that you’ve taken a member of our family hostage. Now, step away from the door, please.”
“But-”
“Uh-uh, no buts.” Kakashi crouches down so that he’s eye-level with Sasuke and clasps his shoulder. “Listen, I appreciate your concern for Tabi’s well-being. He has no idea how lucky he is to have you. But I’ve answered all your questions. We’ve covered that you still possess all ten fingers and toes. I, myself, have all mine. If you need further proof of my abilities, take a look at that living room. Everyone looks happy and healthy, right? You want to know why? I like animals. And they like me.”
“But-”
Kakashi puts up a hand. “Any more questions and you’re going to have to contact my lawyer.”
They stare at each other. Aside from the red splotches coloring his cheeks, Sasuke remains completely expressionless. No doubt he’s running through all his options, including the odds of finding an attorney in Konoha who would be willing to take his case. Eventually, he arrives at the same conclusion as Kakashi: he has no choice but to comply. He lowers his arms and steps away from the door.
“All right, then,” Kakashi declares with a note of finality, getting to his feet.. “Here’s how the rest of this morning is going to go. I’m going to go take a shower and get dressed. While I’m doing that, I want you to open this door and let Tabi out so he can eat and do whatever. When I get back, we’re going to do this. Together. I’m going to need your help. Understood?”
* * *
“You have to hold him tighter, Sasuke.”
This is the third time Kakashi has had to say this. He doesn’t bother adding that Tabi will wriggle free if he doesn’t. He’s pretty sure Sasuke is well-aware of this and that letting Tabi escape was part of his master plan, the one he’s undoubtedly been plotting since Kakashi got into the shower. He may have given up the fight at the door, but the battle is far from won.
Sasuke sits at the edge of his bed with Tabi in his lap while Kakashi kneels in front of them. Tabi doesn’t seem too unhappy about being held by Sasuke, but Kakashi can see the beginnings of suspicion flickering in the kitten’s wide eyes.
Kakashi holds up the nail clippers and Sasuke eyes them with a mixture of skepticism and curiosity. As much as he doesn’t want to do this, Sasuke can’t help himself. Knowledge is power. Power that could someday aid him in his quest to never let another soul touch Tabi besides him.
“Kind of looks like a pair of scissors, right?”
Sasuke nods and Kakashi hands them to him. “Here. Hold them out for Tabi to get acquainted with.”
Sasuke does as he’s told. Tabi’s head rears back from the foreign object invading his space, but just like Sasuke, his curiosity is quick to get the best of him. Soon he’s sniffing every bit of the clippers his little pink nose can reach, and Kakashi takes advantage of this temporary distraction to gently grasp one of his front paws.
“You know how you like to touch Tabi’s toe beans? Well, without even knowing it, you’ve been helping Tabi get comfortable with having his paws touched. That’s hopefully going to make our job a lot easier.”
“Hopefully?” Sasuke repeats, eyes narrowing. It’s the first he’s spoken since Kakashi came back from his shower.
“Cats don’t typically like having their feet touched. Something you guys have in common.” Kakashi grins at Sasuke. It’s not returned.
“Since you’re holding Tabi, I’m going to be the one doing the clipping. In order to do that, I need to gently squeeze his paw to extend the claw, because-”
“Cats have retractable claws.”
“That’s right. When the claw pops out, I’m not going to cut the whole thing off. I’m only going to trim right up to this pink area called-”
“The quick.”
“Right. If I cut that, it would hurt Tabi, so we’re going to be especially careful to avoid that area. Any questions?”
By some miracle, Sasuke has none.
“Ok, we’re going to get started, then.” Kakashi holds his hand out, and with some hesitation, Sasuke hands the clippers back. Taking one of Tabi’s paws in his hand, Kakashi strokes it with his thumb soothingly, hoping the gesture somehow transfers to Sasuke, whose eyes are fixed on Kakashi’s hand, as though at any moment he might snap Tabi’s wrist in two.
There really isn’t much else to do but to get this over with and put everyone out of their misery.
As expected, Tabi fidgets the second Kakashi applies pressure to his paw. What Kakashi isn’t counting on is Sasuke suddenly jerking Tabi away.
Kakashi sucks in a sharp breath through his teeth. “Careful, Sasuke! We don’t want any accidents.”
“He didn’t like it,” Sasuke protests, immediately on the defensive.
“It’s normal if he squirms a little. But if you pull him away like that without telling me, I could accidentally clip something that shouldn’t be clipped.”
Kakashi doesn’t say it unkindly, but Sasuke’s annoyed expression sours even more. Kakashi lets Sasuke pet Tabi’s head for a bit before taking the paw in his hand again.
“Ready to try again?”
The answer is no. Kakashi senses Sasuke’s urge to flinch before it happens and lowers the clippers just in time.
“Sasuke...” Kakashi begins, in a calm but warning tone.
“You were too close to the quick!”
“Sasuke, I was nowhere near it.”
But Sasuke can’t hear him. He’s cradling Tabi protectively to his chest and backing away like Kakashi is Disney’s latest villain on the hunt for a new fur coat.
“Ohhh-kay, the clippers are going away. See?” Kakashi makes a show of tucking the clippers into his back pocket. He holds up his empty hands in surrender, standing up and taking a couple cautious steps towards the bed, like he’s approaching a cornered animal. Sasuke’s scooched so far back on the bed that there’s nowhere left for him to go but through the wall. Kakashi slowly lowers himself onto the bed.
“Here’s how I see it,” he finally starts. “We can put this off a day or two, give Tabi some time to adjust. Prepare himself for what we’re going to do. Or we can get this over with now, so Tabi doesn’t have to stress about it longer than he needs to…” He takes a meaningful pause. “What do you think is best for Tabi?”
Sasuke refuses to look at Kakashi. Somewhere buried under his arms Kakashi hears Tabi’s mews.
“Sasuke?”
Slowly, Sasuke raises his head and meets Kakashi’s patient gaze. Something flashes in his eyes, but Kakashi doesn’t get a chance to consider it, because the next second, Sasuke rolls off the bed with impressive speed, Tabi still tucked into his chest. He scampers past Kakashi, narrowly escaping the arm that shoots out to grab him, and races towards the door.
“Sasuke,” Kakashi commands, tone still level, but with an intensity that makes it clear that Sasuke is crossing into dangerous territory.
“No!” Sasuke shouts, not looking back.
“Sasuke!”
“NO!”
The door slams shut, followed by the unmistakable sound of a lock clicking into place.
* * *
It’s an hour before Kakashi’s rescuer shows.
Yamato finds Kakashi sprawled comfortably on Sasuke’s bed, reading, legs crossed. It’s strangely endearing seeing him this way, head cradled by dinosaur print pillows, Sasuke’s tiny bed barely big enough for his long body. Half the contents of Sasuke’s bookcase lie discarded in a pile on the floor next to the bed.
“This might be the single greatest day of my life,” Yamato says from the now open door.
Kakashi glances up from the book propped on his chest, then returns to the page. “Is that so?”
“Oh yeah.” Yamato steps inside and wanders a bit, looking around Sasuke’s room with curiosity before circling round to study Kakashi from the end of the bed.
“I have to ask,” he begins, a hint of amusement in his voice, “why call me?”
“Why not call you?” Kakashi replies smoothly, not looking up. “You're a sworn officer of the law and I am a civilian in need of help.” He frowns at something on the page in front of him and mutters under his breath. “When will these kids learn that the conveniently concerned citizen who gives them the tip in Act 2 is always the one who did it?”
Yamato gives a short laugh of disbelief. “You could have kicked down that door easily. Hell,” he says, waving an arm toward the window, “you could’ve scaled down the wall of the building if you wanted to.”
“But I didn’t want to,” Kakashi says, snapping the book shut. He sits up and swings his legs over the side of the bed in a single languid movement, then tosses the book aside. “I assume he’s not out there?”
“Sasuke? No. Just your loyal pack, who somehow missed your cries for help.”
Kakashi nods thoughtfully. “Well, I didn’t expect him to stick around. He’s on the run now.”
“What are you going to do to him?” Yamato asks, and if Kakashi detects the barely restrained glee in his voice, he pretends not to.
“Hm?”
Yamato stares at him. There’s no helping it - the corner of his mouth curves upwards. “He locked you in his room. What’s the punishment for that?”
“Oh. That.” Kakashi thinks for a moment, then looks up at Yamato and stands. “I’ll leave that to you.”
Yamato’s grin falters. “Excuse me?”
“You came in your squad car, right?”
“My-?” Yamato stammers, but Kakashi’s already walked away, leaving him standing stunned. A beat of confused silence passes and Yamato does a mental shake, then follows after him.
“Want some coffee?” Kakashi offers, when Yamato finds him in the kitchen. Yamato stands in the window of the half wall dividing the kitchen and the living room.
“You want me to find Sasuke?”
“No,” Kakashi says patiently, pouring himself a cup of coffee. “I want you to find him and arrest him.”
Yamato gawks at him. “You’re serious.”
“I never joke about the law.”
“But-I-”
“What’s the problem?” Kakashi asks nonchalantly, passing Yamato a coffee he didn’t ask for across the counter. “You’ve got your cuffs with you.”
Yamato looks down distractedly at the mug now in his hand like he doesn’t know what to do with it. “I don’t think I have cuffs that small.”
Kakashi shuffles out of the kitchen and peers at Yamato from over his own coffee. “What’s wrong with some good old-fashioned rope?”
Yamato’s eyes bulge. “What?!”
“I’m kidding,” Kakashi says, and claps Yamato on the shoulder reassuringly. His eyes crinkle with a smile. “The cuffs will fit him fine.”
“Kakashi!”
“This doesn’t need to be a big deal,” Kakashi says lightly, his back to Yamato as he walks over to the couch.
“No, wouldn’t want to make a big deal out of arresting the most high-profile eight-year-old in Konoha for cat theft.”
“And wrongful imprisonment,” Kakashi adds, setting his mug down and stopping to scratch behind Guruko’s ear. “And for making me put on pants on a Saturday. That’s the biggest offense out of the three.”
Yamato runs a hand through his hair. “I don’t know, Kakashi…”
Kakashi turns to look at him, suddenly irritable. “What else are you going to do today? Carry someone’s groceries? Sweep the streets for litterbugs?”
“Actually, I was thinking of helping a little old lady cross the street.”
Kakashi grimaces. “Don’t worry,” he says, holding up a hand as if to forestall any fretting. “Somewhere out there, Obito Uchiha is on the case.”
With this, Kakashi flops backwards onto the couch and grabs a random book from the coffee table. He crosses his legs on the table, leaning back, and starts flipping through the pages with sharp flicks of his long fingers. A charged silence engulfs the room.
“Do you have any idea where he might have gone?” Yamato finally asks quietly.
Kakashi’s hand falters, and it’s with a jolt of regret that Yamato realizes he must have thought he meant Obito.
“Try the bookstore,” Kakashi answers, his tone neutral. “Jiraiya’s out of town and Sasuke’s been bugging me to take him before he comes back.”
Yamato nods silently. He studies Kakashi, waiting for further instruction or… something. It never comes.
Sighing, Yamato sets his undrunk coffee on the coffee table and turns to go.
“You should stop at Iruka’s first,” Kakashi says, just as Yamato opens the apartment door. Yamato glances back at Kakashi over his shoulder, his hand on the door knob. Kakashi is still reading intently from his book. “Sasuke can con him into doing anything. Iruka’s probably got him wrapped up in a dozen blankets while Sasuke feeds him some sob story about his evil guardian threatening to turn his cat into a chew toy.”
Yamato chuckles under his breath and nods. “Got it.” He watches Kakashi a moment longer before stepping out the door and pulling it closed behind him. Kakashi’s voice travels through the small opening just before it shuts.
“Call me when he confesses.”

I have written a little about how Sakura is written to be irrelevant throughout the narrative by Kishi, and as a result, demeaning her character through the literary tool of subversion. Here's another example of how Kishimoto makes Sakura's character redundant and very intently makes her the laughingstock of the manga. Like I have mentioned before, he gets some kind of perverse pleasure out of showing both Hinata and Sakura down and he would go a painstakingly intricate and at times, long way to do it too.
I will be publishing a longer write up about this subversion that Kishi uses for Sakura as an answer to an ask but I am writing this particular post separately because this bunch of chapters portray a series of incidents where Kishi really does it without any subtlety and is pretty in your face about it too, like you can viscerally feel his disdain towards Sakura's character just wafting over and it has made her a huge target for ridicule, it has become a ubiquitous topic for very popular jokes and memes even outside the fandom, lol.
Okay, so the chapter I am talking about is chapter 675 where Sakura has just been kamui'd out by Obito from his space time dimension to protect her from Madara's attack after she fails to stab his rinnegan eye. But she never had much determination to speak of unless it had to do with showing off to Sasuke and Naruto, mostly Sasuke. What is interesting to notice is that it also pointedly harks back to something else that she did (or didn't do lol) with her kunai which resulted in a frustrated and (greatly) annoyed audience, courtesy Kishi.
Her nervous expression, the trembling kunai just centimetres away from its target but unable to reach it, failure to do it anyway, giving an opening to her opponent that could have easily been avoided had she been a little more resolute (no one really asked her to take on Sasuke though, that was her own decision given her poor sense of judgment, fighting strategy and skills), getting attacked by the opponent and then getting rescued by someone. Mostly Naruto.
#Redundant
Anyway. She couldn't do anything, having failed to stab Obito's eye so she is transported back by Obito and she joins Kakashi and Sasuke who are waiting for Madara to return. She sees Kakashi's condition and starts to heal him. Naruto leaves his clone to hold Madara's shadow captive with his sage of six paths staff and returns to Sasuke's side, his better half of the 'main act' of the war which has already been established at this point.
So seeing Sakura healing Kakashi, he takes over from a resisting Sakura and heals him. The ONE thing that she could do and not feel redundant in the trio is taken away from her, lolol.
He not only heals him, he gives him a brand new eye, something that is beyond the reach of prevailing medical jutsu itself. How can Sakura even hope to compete with this? Lolol. Kishi, you sadistic so and so! You won't even let her catch a break.
Naruto can't explain and doesn't even understand how he did it and it took Sakura years of effort to learn medical jutsu and achieve a stage where she could even use her mitotic regeneration jutsu. Hahahahaha.
#Redundant
Okay, now then, Sasuke tells Naruto to keep his guard up while Sakura is acting like her usual pointlessly high handed self trying to condescend to Naruto who just made her presence utterly pointless, and Kakashi starts to reminisce about team seven dynamic. Kakashi, a man who has a very shallow understanding of his team members (he thinks Sakura's love has changed from what it was and that she is kind and gentle lol) and not at all about Sasuke, which he thankfully admits.
But what's funny to me is that Kishi was totally focusing on showing Sakura down, mercilessly. So Kakashi is seen reminiscing about their first day in team seven.
Sakura squealing like a typical immature fangirl crushing over an entirely disinterested and quite embarrassed boy, while having no other goal or objective. While Naruto announces his goal to surpass the current hokage, Sasuke divulges his ambition of restoring his clan's honour and killing Itachi, Sakura just blushes and squeals.
Kakashi thinks she is kind and gentle (because of course he has never seen Sakura treating Naruto, at times even a badly injured Naruto, like a punching bag and manipulating him and everyone else for her ill conceived plans), she has grown and her love for Sasuke has matured because she still cares about him even though he tried to kill her in kage arc. Oh sure, running after a boy and begging for his attention no matter what the circumstances or timing is totally what a mature woman would do, lol. Thing is, he has got blinders on when it comes to Sakura because he obviously very conveniently forgets that Sakura attacked Sasuke first, in fact, she went there with the sole intention of killing Sasuke, while not knowing the truth but suspecting something, after having orchestrated a plan that included fake confessing to Naruto (#rejected lol), drugging her team mates and armed with a puny poisoned kunai which she didn't have the presence of mind to deduce would be pointless against Sasuke who trained with Orochimaru for years, some medical ninja, lol.
Kakashi treats her with kid gloves and doesn't understand Sasuke's feelings or motivations given his own lack of perception and failure to understand the intricacies of emotions and relationships, he makes a lot of faux pas when it comes to his team seven members. Kishi knows that these are the questions any reader would ask since these elements were given such consistent visibility in the manga and such consistent characterisation to the players, he is not an idiot. So he uses indirect and subtle techniques and narrative elements, and forces the reader to ask questions and then provides the answers. How? By showing, not telling. Okay, a little telling as well.
Kishi has already established, through Kakashi's interactions with Obito, that Kakashi is definitely flawed as he writes him to admit that he tried his best but he made mistakes.
And that it can be contributed to his past, when he lost his father so cruelly along with his team mates. He also admits that giving false hope to Sakura when Sasuke is about to abandon Konoha was wrong. And what this proves is that Kakashi isn't infallible. His hypocrisy is very apparent when the core of his principle is to cherish his comrades and yet couldn't even attempt to understand Sasuke, given Sasuke's excruciatingly disturbing and scarring past. And even at the end, he expects Sasuke to behave and acts like it was all Sasuke's fault, not having understood him at all. The reason Sasuke gave up at the end was due to the revelatory experience he had with Naruto in chapter 698. Kakashi is emotionally stunted, perhaps which is why he is so good at being an ideal shinobi. A shinobi doesn't cry, doesn't emote, doesn't complain, doesn't break orders and protects his village with his life. Anyway, what becomes clear is that Kakashi's emotional perception is quite affected and far from accurate for sure.
Anyway, so Kakashi reminisces about what he perceives as the team seven dynamic after Naruto heals his eye and then reminds Sasuke of the first lesson he taught them when they were rookies. Sasuke remains meaningfully silent and only grunts. He obviously has a very low opinion of Kakashi, justifiably, as was established in kage arc and the succeeding chapters after this one emphasize it even more. Heh.
So what does 'Team Seven' decide on?
TEAMWORK.
Where was this notion of Team seven teamwork emphasized on the last time before this? Here.
Where Sakura is seen nursing her past insecurities and ramping her ego to join Naruto and Sasuke in the fight because she can't tolerate being protected by them anymore like a damsel in distress.
She thought she was a full fledged kunoichi after passing her genin exams, lol.
Anyway, so she doesn't want to gaze at the boys' back, meaning being shielded or protected by them, as they proceed to take on their opponent. And she manages to punch and make a dent while insulting her own sensei, like some badass that she definitely thinks she is, it becomes quite clear from her body language and expression.
Problem is, her feeling so good about herself (I have finally caught up to them) and acting like a badass is very disproportionate with her actual actions and contribution to the battle. Which is why it creates a dissonance in the reader's mind. As she keeps pulling the same shit over and over without changing or improving things, even after having certain realizations, she creates a negative impression of herself in the audience's mind. She doesn't evolve to be better in a manga where characters learn and grow as a rule which then contributes to the main plot, this is a coming of age story as well after all. Same with Hinata.
Btw, Hashirama saying her strength might be greater than Tsunade doesn't mean shit. Because he actually hasn't seen what his grand-daughter is capable of. Her strength is greater than Raikage, as Madara notices after fighting all the kages. Someone as strong as Naruto struggled to fight against Raikage when he tried to stop him from joining the war effort and so Bee had to intervene on his behalf. She couldn't even fight average cloud ninjas Omoi and Karui, lol. Like c'mon, they aren't even portrayed as some super strong, special ninjas, they are a hardly more than comedy fodder. But Kishi won't even let Sakura take some fodder level ninjas, lol, it's embarrassing. And what happens? Naruto comes to her rescue, as always. Heh. No way Sakura is stronger than Raikage, lol.
Why does Kishi do things like these? These obvious contradictions that he knows are very visible to anyone who pays attention? Especially with Sakura, where other characters like Kakashi, Shizune, Hashirama and Jiraiya remark positively about Sakura? To build expectations, make the reader anticipate some awesome action from Sakura, something that would actually justify these positive remarks in the narrative, building the premise of the action, escalating it, but then right at the moment of dramatic and narrative payback, 👎. He makes Sakura fail pathetically (he does the same thing with Hinata) by subverting the narrative development and tropes, by not satisfying the readers' expectations that he so painstakingly develops, by writing the most anti-climactic of actions at the end. No payback whatsoever. What does an actual payback look like? Cue Might Guy's opening all of the eight gates, when he smashes Madara's ribs in as he breaks his own bones in the process. Cue Tsunade grunting like a warrior goddess as she thrashes Madara's clone beyond recognition. Even Sakura when she punches the ground real hard and takes out little juubi soldiers.
He sadistically wastes all that effort that builds up the anticipation.
And what does doing that achieve? Simple. It makes the reader get really annoyed/dissatisfied with the character. And they feel compelled to berate or ridicule her character. And why won't they? They invested in the character and his/her actions in the narrative for a grand payback, watching multiple episodes or reading multiple chapters carefully, and when they don't get it, they would naturally be frustrated. Kishi consistently pulls this shit over and over again with Sakura and Hinata. And why would he go to such lengths to do shit like this? Well, it's not because he wants to make these ladies look credible or worthy. Heheh.
This is exactly why fans who don't see everything through rose coloured glasses, shipping lenses or have a good taste and a good understanding of characters and the human condition, and actually pay attention to what they are watching or reading, are so annoyed by these characters. Notice I am not saying disgusted or hateful (although some of y'all are) but mostly really annoyed and frustrated. Sakura and Hinata, more than anything else (although they are all those things too, like distasteful, boring and cringey lol), are simply annoying. Because of the reason I explained above.
Kishi is fucking relentless about it too. After this sense that he gives the reader of team seven dynamic, he pulls this shit here. No Sakura, no team. Just Naruto and Sasuke being the main act.
After which, we see Naruto and Sasuke fighting together or separately, but not with the team. But after they are given the sage of six paths power by Hagoromo, they fight together, well in sync with each other. Like they are meant to be. Sasuke bosses Naruto around, like usual, Naruto complains nostalgically but you can see he is totally enjoying it to the hilt. And both of them get shit done. Naruto stops Madara's shadow successfully as Sasuke skillfully slashes Madara's physical body in half. But before he can react further, Madara flies to Kakashi, steals his sharingan and just shoves it in his socket, because it really is that simple lol, enters Obito's space time dimension and attacks Sakura. Now Sakura has no idea about Madara's powers, not having fought him at all directly, and definitely not having fought with the juubi jinchuuriki Madara. So where on the one hand, you see Sasuke and Naruto thoughtfully device strategies to fight Madara, Sakura actually is totally clueless. But Kakashi reminds them of 'teamwork'.
So then Madara finally appears and then this happens.
Hahahahaha. Teamwork? What teamwork?Sakura doesn't even know what Madara's strengths or weaknesses are. And just as expected, he stabs her in the chest and stops her punch with his Limbo jutsu. Payback? What payback? Readers who sympathized with Sakura? Disappointed. Readers who wanted returns on their investment, disappointed. But people who understood what she was really like? Vindication. Lol.
She did the same thing here that Hinata does in Pein arc, when she charges at Pein without putting any thought into it. Hinata did it to attract Naruto's attention. And why did Sakura do it?
And what happened in both cases? Long build up resulting in them getting struck with a single hit and then being rescued by someone else. Naruto doesn't even acknowledge Hinata and Sakura droops because Sasuke ain't paying attention to her. So much for team work. Lol.
But what impression does it give to the reader?
1) Sakura's love for Sasuke didn't really evolve did it? It's the same when in part one, she climbs the tree by gathering chakra in her feet to impress Sasuke but Sasuke doesn't pay attention to her and she slumps, highly disappointed. Same as here.
2) She makes it look like she is creating an opening by using a diversionary tactic, but it's quite obvious she is really scared, but is still trying to show off to Naruto and Sasuke because she doesn't wanna stay behind, gazing at their backs again. So she attacks Madara blindly. Her desire to show off and strut around trumps her desire to actually defeat Madara. What a shinobi, lol. This is a freaking war, and she is fighting against a super strong villain who is bent on destroying their world as they know it, but she is more concerned with nursing her own shortcomings. Self centred, yes. And definitely not a badass. Just ass. Hehe.
After getting rescued by Naruto yet again, she wallows in sadness when Sasuke doesn't even glance at her but immediately calls for Naruto, who btw totally gets what he is indicating at without needing to say it out loud. Yay, team seven. Lol. So while Sasuke and Naruto get into form and fight Madara, what does Sakura do?
Precisely nothing. Just sitting there in awe of Sasuke and Naruto. Spellbound at Madara's jutsu and power, that she didn't know zilch about. Kakashi is pretty pointless here as well, but he wasn't the one who just proclaimed they remembered the teamwork lesson and jumped in a fight without any plan. At least, he had the presence of mind to stop Sakura from joining in the fight when Naruto and Sasuke charge at Madara and she again finds herself watching their backs, as he tells her to not do it unless she has a plan. And she does stop, lol. She doesn't have the power or strategy, just ego. All she wants is to impress Sasuke and show off to Naruto and others, who cares there's a war going on? Lol.
3) It becomes pretty clear who the real team is here. And Sakura is very pointedly missing from it. And it stays that way till the end, staying true to the real team seven dynamic. The Main Act.
So after hyping up the team work element, Kishi discards Sakura's inclusion with a ruthless but consistently written treatment and makes her...?
Redundant.
She couldn't heal Kakashi, she couldn't punch Madara. And she didn't mature, like Kakashi believed. Still pretty useless. Lol.
I am aware that her stans only read the most surface level. How else would they justify something they invest so much in? But unfortunately, it's a fact and not a matter of opinion that Kishi never intended to portray her positively and he certainly puts a hell lot of effort to do so in a clever manner. It's not a coincidence that she (along with Hinata) is such a hated character. It's because she has been portrayed that way. Storytelling and visual language are intuitive by nature. All I am doing here is decoding them. I am writing here what you already know. I am just explaining the how of it. Excuse the digressions lol.

I like your analysis so much, especially about Uchiha clan. My question is, what do you think of Uchiha Fugaku, as father of Sasuke and Itachi, plus as leader of Uchiha clan? Some Itachi fans I know hates him for showing brutality of war to a 4 year old kid and then make him entered ANBU at 11 years old to spy on his own village. Some Sasuke fans I know also hates him because he certainly favors Itachi over Sasuke and only gave Sasuke attention when he and Itachi already had disagreement. Since you love Sasuke, love Itachi, plus you are quite vocal about Uchiha Clan's mistake, I wonder if you also hate him too. Do you think he's like Danzo who doesn't hesitate to use questionable action for 'greater good'? Or he's like Hiruzen, who's too meek and easily swayed when people on his responsibility creating chaos? Or there are some positivity in his character that worth to be defended?
Ah, I am still the Fugaku anon, just forgot to add some things. Anti-Konoha stans think of him as "potential revolutionist who will adopt Naruto if only Uchiha clan doesn't get undeservingly blamed for Kyuubi attack but blinded by his love for Itachi". Kakashi stans like him quite enough for allowing Kakashi to keep Obito's sharingan (it's from filler arc but the only explanation we have), and they generally don't care about Uchiha clan tragedy (which is weird because their fav Kakashi is heavily indebted to Sharingan from Uchiha clan). Naruto stans think that Minato is better dad than him, although some of them hate Minato too.
Just adding some different perspective.
Although, I’ve wrote a little bit about him in this post... Never thought I would get an Ask about Fugaku out of all Characters. Because he is the literal representation of my Father. I mean, it's not like when people say, 'I can totally relate with Sasuke', 'I can totally relate with Naruto'.
No, No....
I am saying, 'Fugaku resembles 99% of my father and that whole family members represents my family in almost every miniscule way'. [[Am not projecting here... It's the author who is projecting my family here]]
So, How similar you ask???
Just go to Chapter 402, 220, 221, 223... Everything that had happened in those chapters, pretty much happened with my family too, Of course no ninjutsu, Coup de tat and stuffs but in a generic way if you get what I mean.
The only difference is that My sister (Sasuke) never bothered about the fact that my Dad preferring me over her because she doesn't want to attract the attention of my strict dad and suffer like me. Instead she was very glad about it. Whereas Sasuke got jelly in the series.
Just for example,
This scene had happened countless times in my life when I was a 10 year old in this exact same order. My Sis always welcomes me with a tight bear hug whenever I come back from my school and my mom will never let us play together citing this very same reason. Studies First!!!
Yesterday my family had a group video call (without me of course) and apparently my Father told my sister, 'We had high hopes on your Elder Sister once but she went in a wrong way and brought disgrace to our family & clan. So, Don't follow your Elder Sister anymore.'
I was once the Apple of my Father's eyes and he was always proud of me by saying the exact words Fugaku used to tell Itachi... “As expected of my Child/Daughter”.
And now they switched over to my sister because they have a disagreement with me. Just like Fugaku switched over to Sasuke...
But Little did my parents know that My Sister is also currently doing the same thing what I once did... Which adds to the extreme hilarity. Well, after all, my Sister is my Girl.... Just like Sasuke is Itachi's boy.
With that being said,
Some Itachi fans I know hates him for showing brutality of war to a 4 year old kid and then make him entered ANBU at 11 years old to spy on his own village. Some Sasuke fans I know also hates him because he certainly favors Itachi over Sasuke and only gave Sasuke attention when he and Itachi already had disagreement.
LOL.
They are totally right to hate him for these reasons. Because Fugaku's priority was never his Sons. Both of them.
Yeah, Yeah, I know Sasuke fans will say Fugaku favoured Itachi and all that. But Come On!! if he could switch over from his supposedly favoured son to his most ignored son in a matter of days... Do they really think that he unconditionally loved Itachi??? And especially he was consciously using his own son as a tool to do something for his own benefit???
Then what's the difference between Danzo, a Third Person using Itachi...... and Fugaku, his own Father using him???? In this Aspect, Fugaku is more like Danzo...
Anti-Konoha stans think of him as "potential revolutionist who will adopt Naruto if only Uchiha clan doesn't get undeservingly blamed for Kyuubi attack but blinded by his love for Itachi".
ROFL.. They are joking, Right??? As expected of Anti-Konoha stans!! Because they are always well known to spin bad non-canon compliant head canons.
Adopt Naruto???? Hmmmph...
“I’m going to Sasuke’s entrance ceremony into the Ninja Academy”
This is Itachi taking the stance of a Father to attend Sasuke's Entrance ceremony to which Fugaku totally failed to pay attention to as a parent.
This is Fugaku using his Elder Son Itachi as a pipeline to spy on the Village. Plus he already sent Shisui to spy on his own son as well.
If Fugaku could use one of his son to spy on the Village and was willing to ignore his other Son because he is not ‘useful’ yet..... What makes them think that Fugaku would adopt an Orphaned Uzumaki Boy and take care of him without any ulterior motives???? Let's just say, if Uchiha clan wasn't blamed for Kyuubi Attack... Still I don't see why he would adopt Naruto out of all Orphans??? Because they think Fugaku is a kind, gentle and generous man??? If that's the case, why couldn't he adopt Obito, his own clan member, who was also an Orphan???
Until and Unless Fugaku was a close friend of Minato... I don't see him adopting Naruto at any point other than using Naruto's Kyuubi for some ulterior purpose. He is not that Generous and the above two panels are the literal proof of it.
Naruto stans think that Minato is better dad than him, although some of them hate Minato too.
Hating Minato for what???? For putting Kyuubi inside him??? As if he happily did it to consciously torture his son forever. Hmmmph!!! These Naruto tear-wipers!!!
Minato did it because he had no choice. It’s as simple as that.
And Yes, Minato is a much better father than Fugaku in many ways.
Fugaku is a kind of person with whom you can’t even hold a pleasant conversation for atleast 10 minutes.
For example, Say if there is an Holiday where your entire family stay at home and enjoy the day by spending quality time with each other.
Do you know what I would do on those occasions??? I would simply take my Text book and tell my parents that ‘I am going to study for my exams’. When in reality, I just want to get away from my father by using Exams as an excuse.
Now you are thinking that I’m projecting myself, Right???
Look at Sasuke’s face when talking to his Father.
An Hesitation, A Fake smile, Pleasing Attitude, Repression, Submissive... All just to ask his father to come to his Entrance Ceremony in his Academy. And yet, his Father is not giving him a shred of Attention. And when Fugaku just ignored Sasuke’s presence... he gets dejected again which you can see from the bottom right panel. But Itachi notice it.
Can you even believe Sasuke would ever pull off this kind of face and attitude in front of anyone????
Look at him how he acts around Itachi in the same flashback... He was confident, open and extremely adorable... Man!!! He is Pouting like a cute kid!!!!.
This is Sasuke’s true self... as opposed to whatever face he was making in front of Fugaku....
Again.... Same face here in this panel too. I’ve seen somewhere a poster was saying Sasuke was looking cute in this panel here... And I was like... “No way, Dude!!!! Sasuke was clearly being hesitant here.... And you call this as Cute?”
Man!!! This is the same face I make in front of my father whereas with others I am totally different. Fugaku is a stern man who keeps his distance with his children and won’t allow them to speak their mind freely. Or to be honest, he just won’t care how you feel inside. You can’t argue with him or make jokes in front of him. No wonder, Fugaku knew Itachi was acting strange after joining ANBU but didn’t bother to ask him about it.
And that’s why it’s very difficult to hold any conversation with Fugaku kind of people for more than 10 minutes... Because the conversation will not be in a back and forth type... It will always be One-sided and when they bring some topic which makes you uncomfortable, all you can do is to deflect it by diverting the topic. There’s no space for argument.
Just like how Itachi is deflecting it here.
“Impress them well and then come to tomorrow’s meeting”
Itachi clearly didn’t like to come to the meeting. That’s why he deflected it by saying he had some other important mission. And Yet Fugaku was forcing him to come to the meeting after finishing the mission. And in order to escape from this uncomfortable conversation, he uses Sasuke as a diversion. Not only for that, it’s also an indirect way of Itachi reminding his Father that ‘You have another son too, please pay attention to him as well’.
At any day, I would take Minato kind of Father who would allow you to speak your mind freely and let you yell at him like a friend.... Than a Fugaku kind of Father who keeps his distance and makes Sasuke & Itachi to repress their Confident Personality. And this is precisely why, Sasuke never had any profound memory of his Father as much as he had with Itachi.
Minato is clearly the Better Father at any day.
I don't hate him, Anon.
Atleast not entirely. I would say, he was more like Hiruzen when it comes to handling his Clan members.
“Listen Itachi, If you betray the clan, you won’t go unpunished.”
These clan members do have some gall to barge into their Clan Leader’s home and threaten his favoured Son... Am telling you, Clan Leaders are usually treated with utmost respect and it extends to their Leader’s family as well...
“If you continue this nonsense, we will have to take you to jail”
I thought these minions were lashing out at Itachi only in the Absence of Fugaku while in his presence, they would become subservient. But No, they are openly threatening Itachi in front of Fugaku which shows these people have more influence over Fugaku’s decisions than his own sons will ever have on him.
Madara was also a Clan Leader of Uchiha, once. But do you think anyone would dare threaten his Brother in front of him like this???? Not a chance.
So, I do think Fugaku’s decision to perform the Coup de’tat was mostly influenced from these minions by fanning the flames of War. And Fugaku would have been like, ‘Most of our clan members want this. So, we must do this for the sake of Uchiha’.
But this would not make him any less innocent or something.
And yet,
When he saw his son was begging in front of these people, he immediately stood up for Itachi and asked for some silly excuse even to the extent of saying, ‘Please’. This shows that he is not totally insensitive towards his son who was practically apologizing on his knees in front of his clansmen.
At this moment, Fugaku almost realized that he was defeated by his son. And Fugaku was very aware of the fact that Itachi was doing all these for Sasuke.... considering the fact that Sasuke didn’t come back home way past the sunset and that Itachi had already chose his Side long back (that time when Itachi showed his dissent in front of his clansmen by throwing a Kunai at the Clan’s crest on the wall and breaking it).
Instead of fighting his own or saying something like ‘You are making a terrible mistake’ or something like that... He simply accepted that he was wrong for ignoring his Younger Son and putting his Elder Son in a much gruesome and painful path from now onwards. To simply put, Fugaku is not making anything difficult at this moment for Itachi than he already did before.
And then this...
A Typical Asian Family!!!!
Probably the only time in the Entire manga, where Sasuke’s family members were seen happily in a single picture... But if you notice carefully... Sasuke was very eager to talk about that day’s experience of playing with his Brother... A Cute Kid!!! But Fugaku instead of asking, ‘Oh Really, Then how did you find your Brother again?’.... he was asking, ‘Huh, So you can use clones already?’... So, Fugaku’s priority is his Son’s education and their skills... He takes immense pride in that... Just like majority of the Asian Fathers expect from their kid.... LOLOL. I was like, ‘Fugaku... Just why, Man???? Why being like my Father???’.... And that prompts Sasuke to ask Itachi to teach him Bunshin no Jutsu... because Sasuke wants his father to be proud of him too.... So, here... Fugaku was just being casual and friendly in his own way.... I think if there were no pressure on Fugaku to lead his Clan and all that... He probably wouldn’t have made those mistakes of Ignoring Sasuke or Using Itachi.
In all of these moments, it showed that Fugaku was not some cold and emotionless person who never cared about his Sons or anything... He clearly did... but his priority was never his Sons... It was always his Clan.... To some extent, he realized the damage he did to sons to which he regretted in his last moments and also he never wanted to let down his son in front of his clansmen, some outsiders. And that’s why I couldn’t hate him entirely. But please refrain from saying, Fugaku is an Abuser.... Prioritizing/Favouring one child over the other is just a normal thing here. There’s literally no abuse in that.

I need. A fic. Where. Kakashi and Rin from the timeline established in "Ming Fan ends up in Naruto and massively derails the plot" end up in canon. And just kinda fucks around and gives us fun reactions n stuff
As a refresher, that timeline looks like this:
Izuna was first Hokage, Tobirama second Hokage, and Kagami the third
Sakumo was appointed 4th instead of Minato since Ming Fan interfered with his mission gone wrong
Kannabi bridge went unfortunately similar to canon, and Obito fell into Madara's hands.
With Sakumo still alive at the time, Kakashi was able to recover from this without the major personality shift, and due to a combination of Sakumo and Ming Fan's additional training, when it was Rin's turn on the chopping block, she instead survived and now continues to live as the Konoha's second jinchuriki
Obito attacked Konoha with the intention of releasing the kyuubi, and at the time Kushina and Minato were in the Senju compound for the birth
Mito got in his way, delaying him long enough for Sakumo to also arrive
In the fight, both Mito and Sakumo died (fucking thanks, Obito. I don't know if Kakashi's gonna be able to forgive u for that one this time around) but Kushina and Minato survived, and Naruto was born healthy and without the fox sealed into him
Kakashi is understandable devastated, and as recovery efforts begin, he's taken in by Minato and Kushina. He offers little fight against this.
With Sakumo's death, Kagami was once again appointed as the Hokage. After only a year or two of stabilizing Konoha + preparing his successor, he quickly gives Minato the hat, and retreats once again to retirement.
Minato makes Kakashi and Rin both ANBU, expressing his desire to have them by his side (at least this time they're slightly older, with Kakashi at 15 and Rin at 17) and puts them on home guard, specifically as Naruto's ANBU guards. It's an easy job, and helps Kakashi in particular to heal some, even if he gets even more rigid about things like rules and formalities
With Izuna as the first Hokage and Kagami as the third (and technical 5th) Uchiha-village relations were actually very good! Thanks to this, the Uchiha massacre was avoided entirely
Kakashi is raised pretty much as Naruto's very protective older brother, with Rin in a similar boat but she still has her own family so there isnt quite so much trauma fueled dependency from her end.
Naruto grows up to be alarmingly talented, with Kakashi and Rin tutoring him, and Minato and Kushina obviously doing their best (though Minato remains mostly busy due to the unfortunate realities of being a Hokage. Meanwhile Naruto is absolutely a total mommas boy)
Kakashi and Rin end up actually fighting over who gets to be Naruto's sensei (Naruto wants NEITHER OF THEM!!!!! HES A BIG BOY NOW STOP CODDLING HIM!!!!!)
Canon then proceeds mostly the same, though with some very obvious major changes
Somewhere along the way, Itachi is convinced to ditch Konoha even without the massacre, and later down the like Sasuke also follows suit to investigate what happened with his brother— though this time he leaves with orders from Minato to go undercover, and investigate Sound
(fucking THANKS dad!! -Naruto, probably, when he finds this out)
+ also I originally had some vague ideas for the 9 tails jinchuriki Sakura— with both her and Naruto eligible for the role when it times come to pass the responsibility down. Kushina ultimately going with the very selfish choice of not wanting her son to suffer the same fate as herself, choosing instead to vouch for the skilled civilian girl to take on the burden. Maybe incorporate that into it, that could be fun
BUT LIKE. Codependent queerplatonic besties Rin and Kakashi, some time around when they're fighting over who gets to be Naruto's sensei (Minato wants nothing to do with that argument, no matter who he picks someone is going to stab him so he refuses to make the choice himself) — and then somehow wind up in canon
Kakashi is so fun in that au, he's a LOT closer to being the strict, bratty kid he used to be than the lazy, perpetually late slack off we know and love in canon (although, despite his preaching about protocols, he can be alarmingly loose when it comes to bending rules to suit him. Being the special little guy of not just 1 but 2 Hokage's absoloutley made his bad habits so much worse, he can get away with almost anything and he knows it)
He also has some insane unresolved feelings ab his father's death, who is cemented as a hero both in his heart and the hearts of all of Konoha, for both his service and his sacrifice
Sakumo's death wasn't drowned out in the massacre of grief of literally all his loved ones dying in such quick succession, and so it's been given a lot more time and space to fester— Kakashi absoloutley has some revenge type shit going on with the "mystery masked man" who attacked Konoha and killed his father, and Rin stands beside him— having exacted a promise from him to not take on the burden of revenge alone ("that's what comrades are for, Kakashi!")
He can have his revenge quest but only if she gets to come with, you hear!! They probably had some huge blow up fight over it years ago that ended in like, and super dramatic blood pact to do this together. Yay friendship !!! If one of them dies the other will go insane.
Watch your fucking back Obito, if Kakashi becomes too emotional to kill you at the grand reveal, Rin will handle the "overcome by murderous rage" part on his behalf.
Anyways, throw them into cannon !!! Yippie !!!
The two Kakashi's can not look eachother in the eyes without canon!Kakashi developing a rather violent twitch and AU!Kakashi pulling on a face of pure disgust. They are everything they hate in a person and they share the same face. It's very uncomfortable for the both of them.
Having way too much fun specifically thinking ab them reacting to Sarutobi as Hokage— Sarutobi is not and has never been Hokage in their world, they have no idea what to do with this. He's one of the Hokage's advisors, but retired alongside Kagami, so he hasn't been politically relevant in years, not even as Sarutobi clan head since that position recently went to Asuma in their world.
Meanwhile Sarutobi and Danzo are going through all the stages of grief at the knowledge that Kagami was their 3rd Hokage, oh man are they Experiencing Emotions rn fr
That isn't even covering like. Oh hey! Btw! Sakumo was Hokage for a good few years!
(Multiple people looking at this strange, uptight version of Kakashi who very visibly seems to think he's better than 90% of the people in the room at any time: "....that checks out...")
Also!! This Kakashi has never heard people talk bad about his father bc Sakumo's mission never fucked up! The village loved that guy, even after so many years, Kakashi will still occasionally hear murmurs of "if only lord 4th was still around"
He is very much known as and proud of being "the son of lord 4th, the white fang, who died to keep the kyuubi from being released and killing us all"
I'm sure there were undoubtedly some people within Konoha who didn't especially like Sakumo, but even still, theyd never fucking DARE to say anything within earshot of Kakashi. Total death wish, why would u do that?
Obv, other countries no doubt celebrated his death (especially in Suna where he was wildly unpopular and deeply feared) but like. In Konoha? Nah people LOVE that guy, even after so many years.
All of that is to say that if a single person breathes wrong about Sakumo "deserving his death" Kakashi will go fucking insane on their ass. Immediatley. There will be blood. Rin will not hold him back.
Anyways silly Kakashi and Rin snippet time:
"So are you two— dating?"
"I'm out of her league." Kakashi says as simultaneously, Rin replies,
"The only thing that can get Kakashi up is a rule book"
"Isn't that right, Kashi-chan?"
"Can you not??"
"Oh, I'm sorry I forgot only your Kushina-neechan can call you that" Rin teased, and Kakashi turned a shade of red so bright he seemed to glow with it even under his mask.
"I was drunk!"
Rin gave him a comforting pat on the back that did absoloutley nothing to actually comfort him. "And you'll never live it down."
"I would be a great sensei!" Kakashi denied, very much ignoring the immediate noises of doubt and disbelief coming from everyone in their general area.
"You hate children!" Rin accused, pointing a disbelieving finger at him.
"I would be a great sensei for Naruto!" Kakashi corrected himself, and Rin rolled her eyes.
"And then what? You tie up the other 2 and leave them somewhere while you teach Naruto?"
"It'd be good for their character!"
"You were supposed to deny that that's what you'd do that, Kakashi!"
"Well if you like the other 2 so much, then you can teach them! And I'll just take Naruto!"
"He needs a team Kakashi!"
"Sensei said—"
"Sensei said you were a little bitch as a kid and a team is what helped straighten out your attitude."
"He did not!"
Rin sniffed. "Maybe he didn't use those exact words, but—"
"Well a team certainly didn't help your attitude, did it? And besides, you don't even like kids either!"
"Hmph. I'd make an exception, because I'm a good sensei."
I think Rin and Kakashi have genuinley fought exactly 2 times.
One was when Kakashi was spiraling a bit on his revenge quest for his dad and Rin got him to promise to let her in on the revenge so he didn't fucking kill himself alone trying to avenge Sakumo.
And one is their current, very petty arguing over who gets to be Naruto's sensei
(Team 7 ends up having 2 very enthusiastic sensei's, who also end up getting a stern talking to from both Minato and Naruto of all people about playing favorites. It's deeply embarrassing for everyone involved.)
I actually just need Rin and Kakashi very loudly arguing over who gets to be team 7s sensei while canon!team 7 stands there like ??????????
AU!Kakashi and Rin are nagging Canon!Kakashi about how lucky he is to be their sensei. Canon!Kakashi needs them to shut the fuck up and get out of his line of sight immediatley so he can have that mental breakdown he's overdue for
AU!Kakashi is going to cause problems for Canon!Kakashi on purpose. He's looking directly into his counterparts eyes and going "Wow Naruto you look just like ur dad. Who is my sensei btw. Did other me tell me that? You should ask him ab that. Sensei said I'd get to be ur big brother when u were born. Just so u know. Oh hey Sasuke! Wow it's sooo funny that ur on team 7 when I also helped train Itachi. Crazy."
He refuses to be silenced he thinks canon!Kakashi is being a cowardly little bitch and will not take "everyone I know died and I'm incredibly depressed" as any sort of reasoning, he's calling it an excuse and telling Kakashi to do better
(Rin is telling him to slow the fuck down and be nicer to himself)
The Kakashi's fucking HATEEEE eachother it's super awkward for literally everyone around them
Anyways the Uchiha massacre !!! in the AU, the Uchiha's relationship with the village is very good, they're incredibly well respected, powerful, and one of the centermost clans of Konoha. Arguably the centermost clan, especially since the Senju are pretty much all gone now
So the Uchiha massacre being a thing is totally out of nowhere and horrifying to Rin and Kakashi. Like, it would have been even if the Uchiha were in poor standing, but that's like THE clan!!! Holy shit!!! And they're— gone? Dead? Killed in their own homes?
They're both told Itachi did it and kinda uhh. Don't fully believe it.
Itachi did leave the village in their world, but peacefully and for unknown reasons still under investigation (and then there was a ton of fun stuff with Sasuke facing a ton of sudden pressure as the new clan heir) and Kakashi and Rin both knew him, having been on team Ro together, so there's a lot of disbelief at the idea that he could do such a thing
But also like, they are in an alternate dimension. One that honestly? Kind of seems to be the worst timeline to them.
Anyways uhhh also fun playing with the HUGE difference in how jinchuriki are treated in the two konohas— one in which the kyuubi was released and decimated a chunk of the village, and another where Obito was stopped before it was released, + their jinchuriki are known war heroes
(Rin was made into a war hero of her own right, coming back from their mission as the new sanbi jinchuriki. People like to say she bested the demon with her will of fire or smthn, it makes for a great story)
Obv they still face a lot of negative stigma (particularly from civilians) but nowhere NEAR as much as canon konoha. Plus like. One jinchuriki is the Hokage's beloved and popular wife, and the other is a war hero. So.
Rin and Kakashi are hearing that Naruto is the kyuubi's jinchuriki and staring blankly at whoever told them. In their world, Kushina still holds the title, and the clan council is in the middle of choosing who will be the next one (Sakura or Naruto)
Rin can help give him jinchuriki lessons!! They can bond over having demons in them <3
Also thinking about how since AU!Kakashi got more time w his dad, he's a lot more aware of and proud of his clan heritage as a Hatake. He wears his clan mon on his clothes just like his old man used to, loud and proud
It'd be cool if I grabbed a fistful from that other obkk child bride ghost marriage au where Rin survives and Kakashi gets kind of partially claimed by the Uchiha bc of Obito's eye + the ghost marriage
Not the ghost marriage part to be clear (Sakumo would never fucking allow it in a million years) but the "Kakashi kind of gets picked up by the scruff by the Uchiha bc of his sharingan and gets special lessons from them and lowkey becomes an honorary Uchiha" bit. Would give him even more reason to a) be really fucked up about the massacre + know Itachi, and b) approach Sasuke
Also it'd just be fun and super funky, especially for those around him reacting to it
Let him wear a shirt with the Hatake mon on one sleeve and the Uchiha mon on the other, in alignment with his eyes!!! It'll be fun!!! It'll be quirky!!!
(Also, it'd mean he's the special little guy of 2 Hokage's and the most important and powerful clan in Konoha. Even more reason for him to be the way he is. Also: infinitely funny.)
I have a couple more abstract thoughts but I think this has become more than long enough, so I'll stop there. But like !!!! Dimension travel my beloved

Right on Time
Soulmate AU (Kakashi x Reader)
-
Everyone is born with a timer counting down on their wrist.
Some are born with minutes on their clock. Some with days. Some are born with years. The fourth hokage was known to have about a decade on his watch until he met the Red Hot-Blooded Habanero.
Everyone knows that when your clock reaches zero, you’ll find your soulmate in front of you, with eyes locked on your own.
Kakashi covered his wrist, as much as possible, he avoided looking at it. He couldn’t understand the hype given to these timers. Much more, he couldn’t imagine himself falling in love. No amount of Icha-Icha novels could prepare him for the feeling, in fact, this might explain his obsession for them. These fluttery feelings he would hear from Kurenai when Asuma was beginning to show more than just platonic interest knowing both their timers had hit zero when they met at the academy, the same phenomenon he observes in Sakura as she fawns over Sasuke’s every move knowing they were already fated, were just too foreign for him.
He tries to think back, maybe he would find something similar to it.
He tries to remember the feeling of being carried on Sakumo’s back as he burrows his head with his childhood green scarf, weary after a whole day of training and playing with the other neighborhood kids. His father humming and talking to his quiet five-year-old self.
Kakashi shook his head.
It’s been too long and besides, any memory of his father eventually led to images of blood stains on the wooden floor of the Hatake compound, now long abandoned. And these images lead to the bubbling anger that he has suppressed for years from a broken promise: being there for each other, the moment his mother died from childbirth. The promise was unspoken, but repeated and repeated until the day he saw his father polishing the Hatake blade before he left for school.
He doubt that’s the same feeling this timer represents.
He tries to remember Minato-sensei carrying him away after finding him frozen, staring down at his self-impaled father for hours. All his senses, for once, numb until Kushina covered him with a blanket and gave him a bowl of ramen to eat on the dinner table. He can still remember their soft expressions providing him comfort as they ate together. Just the three of them.
And then came Obito and Rin. Oh Kami. Obito and Rin who were childhood friends way before they met Kakashi. Who had their timers on zero and they were never sure why but were too happy-go-lucky to care.
He wonders if Obito’s non-shinobi-like habits and the arguments that followed would be the same playful banter he sees between couples because he would be lying to say he didn’t enjoy them, or missed them wholeheartedly. He can almost feel Rin’s fingers brushing against his injuries, some still aching to this day, and wonders if it’s the same desire of touch lovers feel.
But he knows it’s all wrong. Eventually, Minato and Kushina’s soft expressions turn into worried expressions as he pushes himself into isolation and depression until their deaths, impaled by Kurama. Remembering banters with Obito becomes an echo of the last fight they had before the Uchiha went off to save Rin. Remembering medic-ninja peacemaker, Rin and her touches, reminds him of the blood that covered his chidori-fueled fist.
So no. Kakashi does not know what love feels like. He felt his heart race when the scent of rust had hit his nose as soon as he opened the Hatake compound doors. He felt his palms sweat when he saw Minato and Kushina approaching him for a serious talk on his wellbeing, where he would lie. He felt the flutters in his stomach when the blood on his hand would not wash away despite it being years after her death — and the eye that was not his would sit uncomfortably in the socket of his brain.
Kakashi covered his wrist, because as far as he knows, love was shit and the timer was something to dread. He did not want it to hit zero. Anyways, The Fourth Great Shinobi War waits for no one. There he stood, a general people were relying on to defeat these white mutations. He has sacrificed so much that he himself felt like a sacrificial offering to whatever shinobi god was up there. So maybe it was with this thought that he allowed himself to hook one finger up his sleeve and slide it up to see his time.
00:00:00:00:07:00
Years. Months. Days. Hours. Minutes. Seconds.
Kakashi looked straight ahead and began to run up the trees, followed by several other shinobis as the white Zetsus began to appear in the distance. Now was not the time for such thoughts, or feelings. He could feel the familiar licking of electricity on his arm as he charged up.
00:00:00:00:06:00
Shinobi of all nations collided with the enemy and all sorts of jutsus were thrown. Kakashi regulated his breathing and tried to concentrate, ignoring the earth-shattering ticking of his subconscious.
00:00:00:00:05:00
Kakashi threw a kunai into the closest white Zetsu charging at him with such strength that the kunai pushed through it.
A warmth unparalleled by the sun that would greet him when he opens the Hatake compound doors.
00:00:00:00:04:00
He fired up the chakra at his fists until he was sure his punches felt like thunder.
A gentle face that would drape a blanket and give him ramen on his worst days.
00:00:00:00:03:00
Kakashi dodged an attack before slamming the enemy with a raikiri through it’s chest.
A conversation and a small touch that would make him feel more alive than any battle he has fought.
00:00:00:00:02:00
From the corner of his eye, he sees it. A flash of (h/c) hair running straight towards a group of Zetsus and in a blink, the parasite clones fell to the ground. Kakashi shifts his body to look across the battlefield where he saw the triumphant look on your face, along with it, a barrage of emotions that he could not comprehend.
00:00:00:00:01:00
He immediately sprinted through the masses, was blocked but easily brought them down without having to use any jutsu.
00:00:00:00:00:30
He finally spots you. You, with the warmth of midday, gently enamoring something in him. You felt his gaze on you so you shifted your body.
He spots the parasite clone behind you.
And your eyes met his.
00:00:00:00:00:01

is that meant to be an excuse
the WAY kakashi turns his back on the eldest and most highly-ranked officials in the village
and then he up and walks out of the room while koharu is in the middle of her next sentence
literally he just - walks out. he doesn’t excuse himself or say goodbye or bow. he doesn’t even let her finish speaking. he leaves while she’s in the middle of talking and then shuts the door in her face.
file this next to ‘kakashi faces down orochimaru’ in the drawer of kakashi’s most badass moments. the level of disrespect kakashi broadcasts here is staggering - in no way would his behavior during this conversation be considered acceptable by anyone who doesn’t understand the context, but he isn’t just being an arrogant little shit for no reason, and this isn’t simply a right-wing/left-wing philosophy clash, either. kakashi just learned all the dirty details about the uchiha massacre. he knows what these two did.
even though kakashi is the one who reminds naruto (rightly) that they can’t just unquestioningly accept any story madara uchiha tells them, he acts this way with the councilors here because deep down, he believes what he’s been told. he can’t say anything about it until he has proof, and he’s too smart to act on information that could still be a lie intended to destabilize the Leaf’s rebuilding efforts, but he’s clearly been thinking about it ever since madara appeared in the Land of Iron, and we can see here that ultimately, after doing his own internal analysis, the conclusion he’s drawn is that madara was probably telling them the truth. however shocking and impossible a state-sponsored genocide + subsequent cover-up may have sounded to kakashi at first (and however much he may not have wanted to entertain the possibility of it having occurred), he suspects that madara’s information is true. he thinks this is probably what happened.
it’s not a conclusion he draws without cause, i don’t think. i imagine that for kakashi, this revelation feels more like a blurry picture coming into focus, as if he’s finally received the key to decrypting something that never made sense to him. i’m watching this show for the first time, so there are some things i’m not clear on, but my impression is that kakashi knew itachi through ANBU before the uchiha massacre went down, and if that were the case, then i can only imagine how incomprehensible his crimes must have seemed at the time, to people who were familiar with him - it must have sounded impossible. but kakashi and everyone else just had to accept itachi’s sudden turnaround as the reality, because impossible as it seemed, there was no alternative explanation for what happened.
but now, though - kakashi’s not stupid. he is, per naruto’s own words, smarter than shikamaru. as soon as madara uchiha presents him with a different possibility, things that never made sense before start to fall into place. all the incomprehensible puzzle pieces that never fit together finally start to make sense within a bigger picture. sasuke’s survival. itachi being careless enough to let himself be spotted and accosted in the hidden leaf before he could get anywhere near naruto. danzo sending sai to assassinate sasuke without tsunade’s knowledge or permission. sai’s curse mark. the report gaara gives kakashi about the five kage summit (where danzo was discovered to have stolen shisui uchiha’s sharingan eye). and this -
kakashi can’t act without proof, but he knows. he knows it’s true. for the first time in years, things actually feel like they make sense. and now, in this episode, he’s supposed to report to these two councilors as if he doesn’t know that they aided and abetted in a genocide against sasuke’s people, coerced a child into murdering his own community, covered the whole thing up, and are currently trying to get rid of the evidence by having sasuke assassinated?
kakashi can’t say anything yet, but he is coldly furious. that narrowed eye says everything. he knows he has to keep his mouth shut, because technically this could all still be a fabrication, and even if it’s not a lie, tipping his hand too soon could prompt the destruction of any evidence that might eventually enable this crime to be proven and dragged into the light, but the way he slaps these elders with disrespect here speaks volumes. the cold contempt in his voice, the way he turns his back to them, the way he walks out of the room while they’re in the middle of a sentence - is that meant to be an excuse?
a reminder, for perspective: kakashi just returned from a confrontation where he thought he was going to have to kill his own kid because sasuke was so unbalanced by rage and pain and grief that he felt irresistibly compelled to destroy everything and everyone in his path, and now kakashi is supposed to just sit here and be deferent to the people who started this whole ball rolling years and years ago, back when sasuke and itachi were both just innocent children?
no. he shows them his back. he shuts the door in their faces. he does everything except flat-out tell them “i know what you did,” and while they may not know exactly why he’s behaving like this, they definitely know that the new hokage isn’t interested in any of their “advice.”
one other thought before i wrap this up: kakashi is the LAST person these two would ever have wanted to find out about their misdeeds. he’s not some isolated child coming apart at the seams who can be discredited and eliminated - he’s one of the most renowned and respected jonin in their village (in ALL the villages of the shinobi world, in fact). he’s also not distant enough from the situation to brush off these accusations as nothing more than rumor - he’s too intimately connected to the uchiha, to sasuke, to itachi, to obito, to the legacy of a dead community and the rightful inheritance that he carries inside his own body. and most importantly of all, he’s not indoctrinated enough to accept whatever cold, shinobi-code calculations these people would try to use to justify their decision.
kakashi doesn’t care if the shinobi code says the extermination of the uchiha clan was an acceptable loss. doing the right thing in defiance of the shinobi code was young!kakashi’s entire character arc. he used to be the “fall in line” kid, because he thought following the rules could protect him from pain, but after his friend teaches him a better way to be, he chooses to upend his entire life and reinvent himself in that friend’s image. kakashi has remodeled himself after rulebreakers - specifically, people who refused to sacrifice the lives of others for the sake of a nebulous “greater good,” despite society’s rigid demands that they do so. one of those people was his own father, a man who was crucified and ultimately destroyed by the culture he rejected, and the other was obito uchiha - a member of the same clan that danzo and the Leaf administration chose to sacrifice for the so-called “greater good” of the community.
kakashi will never accept any excuses for that. he will never give the administration a free pass on slaughter, even slaughter for the sake of a future “peace.” the entire foundation upon which he’s built his post-obito philosophy is that you can’t sacrifice others for the sake of your mission, not even if the rules say it must be done. you can give up your own life, yes. but you NEVER offer up somebody else’s. it’s not a right or worthy thing to do, and it never creates a lasting peace - as we’re seeing right now, with sasuke’s retribution.
when you get right down to it, kakashi is this administration’s worst nightmare. i am really looking forward to the day he and sasuke and yamato and naruto can finally blow this conspiracy wide open.
#long post#this whole thing had me remembering how kakashi talked to kakuzu before killing him#that whole speech he makes about how he and the kids are the new generation and the old generation's time is over#'it's no wonder you see us as brats. but it cuts both ways.'#'to our eyes you're just an old geezer whose time is over.'#and so here you are - dying. hugging the earth like a worm.'#'one by one the new generation will catch up to you'#'and in the end they'll surpass you.'#the village elders are in the same situation#their time is done#the new generation IS catching up to them#all of their sins are going to be exposed#and the old way of doing things is going to be dumped and recognized for what it is - evil#can't wait to see that happen honestly#naruto#pan watches naruto#meta#i got lost on the path of life

Well at first I was thought saying a coward in a moral sense, because I don’t Kakashi is a coward in that he afraid of death. But what I mean is Kakashi is coward in that he doesn’t stand up for what he claims to believe in and is willing to allow others to suffer ( his students) under a Village that he know his corrupt, but does nothing about it. Moral cowardice is mostly about choosing the path of least overall effort regardless of the fact that this path is in some sense wrong.
Let’s go for parts:
“But what I mean is Kakashi is coward in that he doesn’t stand up for what he claims to believe”
Not sure about this, Kakashi clearly stands up for what he claims he does: He does think that the way he acts is exactly the correct manner to defend his ideals. The “those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum,” that he repeated non-stop in the manga was just a twisted version of the original meaning that Obito intended. For Kakashi, abandoning one’s friends means turning their back on them and the village that saw them born and represents them, therefore, someone like Sasuke is an example of a scum.
(Not even when confronted with Obito was Kakashi able to disentangle his twisted-nationalistic version of the quote, so he internalized Obito's implication in Akatsuki by convincing himself that it was Obito the one who had changed in his views, rather than admitting he never actually understood what the phrase truly meant).
Konoha is full of people Kakashi cares for (and of people the ones he likes, care for, as well), not only his students but also his comrades, therefore, defending Konoha and the (corrupt) system that holds everything together is key. If Konoha stands, then everything he fights for has a chance at surviving, and the death of those close to him are not meaningless.
He twisted Obito’s words in order to fit them in his nationalistic viewing; something that turned out to be the moral compass that later on Naruto and everyone in the K11 internalized.
“is willing to allow others to suffer ( his students) under a Village that he know his corrupt, but does nothing about it”
As I said before, he concocted a mindset that allowed him to see suffering/death as a necessary (if not inevitable) sacrifice to protect something far more important than individuals’ safety: a symbol. He doesn’t force people to endure anything he would be unwilling to should he find himself in that situation, because to him, everything has a major purpose: Konoha’s survival.
The system is corrupt and he knows it, but he ends up tying those flaws to human’s course of actions instead of questioning the bases on which those individuals acted, which both led and allowed such conducts to occur.
“Moral cowardice is mostly about choosing the path of least overall effort regardless of the fact that this path is in some sense wrong.”
But that’s the thing, Kakashi has all the tools to see the wrongness of the system, and yet decides that the structure in place is still the best of all evils, so instead of improving it, it’s better to just keep doing what has been working until now in order to maintain the power (im)balance -that ultimately benefits Konoha the most-, and the temporary peace.
Minorities aren’t that important to him, Kakashi belongs to none of them so he knows nothing about what they’re enduring. The system was dirty to him as well and yet he thrived because he twisted reality to make himself believe (not without the help of a well-established educational system) that all his suffering was his own problem. Konoha had nothing to do with it, he was the one with issues, not the structure itself that forced his father and Rin to commit suicide (one because of shame, the other for a sentiment of protectiveness over a village that forced her into combat).
And you know, that might have been a nice and understandable excuse for a thirteen-year-old boy, but when you’re twenty-six and you’ve seen everything he did during his time in the shinobi force, then you turn from victim to accomplice, because you’re an active participant in the oppression -not only he did nothing to change things, he vigorously pushed his students in the nationalistic mindset.
Summarizing, I'm not sure about the "coward" stand when it comes to Kakashi's moral mindset, because it implies that he was just too terrified (or like you said, unable/unwilling to make an effort to question his ideals) to change things even when knowing and acknowledging the problems. I think he knew about the consequences of the system in place and took a stance to support it and reproduce it because of his nationalistic mindset. It's not that I don't agree with your points, but is the term to describe his moral compass the one I'm not sure about.

AU where Deidara becomes inexplicably fond of 'Tobi' to the point of just going 'fuck it' and following Obito into crazytown and, if Obito survives The Kaguya Nonsense, he now has a bitchy art school grad student following him around like "you fucked with my head for a year after making people pressgang me into a terrorist cell, now it's my turn to fuck with you." This is partly because this one post lives in my head rent-free.
(Brainstormed on discord with help from @britishassistant. Please note that while I do usually headcanon Dei as nonbinary, this brainstorm kept to he/him pronouns and referring to him as a boy.)
Confession that this arose because I keep imagining 'person travels back to the Founders Era and wreaks havoc via Confusions, using different characters capable of 'why the FUCK' reactions every time, pinged on T7+Obito but Obito had to bring Deidara and everyone Regrets, because... boom.
Nobody wants Deidara involved, except Deidara. People especially do not want Deidara and Sai in the same room, because between Deidara's hands and Sai's 'commentary,' someone's going to get murdered. -- (Deidara is of the opinion that he should be involved in everything where there is the potential for blowing something or someone up. Deidara was sort of invited, in that Obito refuses to leave him unsupervised, but nobody really wants him, like, doing things.)
Team Seven is trying to help push a peace treaty through for the Senju and Uchiha. Keeping an eye out for Zetsu, Obito's talking Madara around as the person who actually knows him best, Naruto is Vibing with Hashirama on a level nobody hoped they'd reach, Sakura's smoothing ruffled feathers by healing the dying, Yamato is demonstrating Mokuton as evidence of something, and Kakashi has his hand over Sai's mouth so they don't cause an international incident. Sasuke isn't helping, just kind of in a stare-off with Izuna.
And then Obito says, "Wait, shit. We're missing a blonde." "Where's your idiot, Obito?" "He's not my idiot, Bakashi, he just--" BOOM "Ah, shit." [cue maniacal laughter in the middle distance]
"This is why I told you to keep an eye on him while I talked to Madara!" "I told Sasuke to do it!” "Why do you expect Sasuke to do anything you tell him to do?"
Part of what I was going for was: 1. Deidara and Obito have a preexisting relationship that angles heavily towards mutual antagonism due to the whole Tobi thing. 2. Deidara is both completely unhinged and capable of mass destruction, which means he's perfectly set to Cause Problems. And of course 3. This means a role reversal where Obito finds the shoe on the other foot because now he’s the one trying to rein in Deidara.
Obito is 100% done with Deidara, but this asshole is kind of his responsibility? Like? What's he gonna do, hand the kid over to Onoki? Nah, bruh, his douchebag teenage sidekick deserves better than Iwa. -- (Deidara does not, in fact, deserve better than Iwa.) -- It’s like Deidara is his kid or something, like he knows he’s hellspawn but he’s Obito’s hellspawn.
Madara: You came to convince us of peace, yet you bring-- Obito: No, shut up, it's better than leaving him to his own devices, at least this way I can stop him. Hashirama: How do we convince the Daimyou this is a good idea? Madara: We need to make him think there's a bigger threat, maybe? One that he can't fight without united shinobi clans to hire, rather than pitting us against one another to maintain his economic dominance. Hashirama: But there aren't any bi-- Deidara: I VOLUNTEER
Obito: So what are we going to do? Deidara: Blow up buildings belonging to the rich and powerful. Obito: And what are we not going to do? Deidara: ...blow up the innocent? Like kids? And poor people? Obito: Okay, yes. That's pretty much it. Deidara: Wait, can I blow up a monastery? Obito: Do you want the Shinigami to come after our heads?! No!!! Deidara: What if it's a Jashinist temple? Obito: We have seen evidence that one exists, do you really want to risk it?
Hashirama, full of 😀 : I brought dango! Deidara, to Obito: Are you going to eat it with your eye again. Madara, Izuna, all the Uchiha: [turn to stare] Obito: Literally why do I put up with you.
(Deidara is that one kid who Delights in telling everyone about the weird and dumb shit Obito pulled as Tobi.)
Deidara: Hey, dipshit, you wanna-- Obito:
Also, Kakashi has his four brats so Obito gets to keep Deidara. It’s only fair. -- Kakashi at least has Tenzo to coparent, and some of his kids are well-behaved... ish. They try, at least. Obito's just got a Hell Child who actively delights in causing mischief and mayhem. -- The most Naruto's going to do is dye your hair in your sleep. Sai makes dick jokes and Sakura punches things, but overall, they're not bad kids! Sasuke is. Sasuke. But that's okay, that's why there's a solid five people in that team to handle his bullshit.
Whereas Obito is stuck. With an art school grad student. -- Deidara is contextually the epitome of "I think I will cause problems on purpose." -- (Deidara... is what Tenzo would call “a bad influence.”)
Btw? Keep Sai and Deidara away from each other. Kakashi learns that the hard way. -- "Captain, the art kids are fightingggggg!"
Kakashi: Obito get a handle on your disaster Obito: DON’T YOU TALK ABOUT MY BOY THAT WAY
Jumping back a tiny bit though, Obito regularly asks Yamato to use his Mokuton to seal up Deidara's chakra for a bit. (Is this how it works in canon? Probably not, I think it's just bijuu chakra, but I also Do Not Care.)
But honestly, when it comes to Team Seven, Deidara is that one older cousin at family reunions that teaches you how to hotwire a car. -- Deidara is okay with Naruto and Sakura, ish. -- He antagonizes Sai in a way that ends in tears. -- He. Has to be kept away from Sasuke. For a variety of reasons, most of which have to do with Eyes and Explosions and Itachi.
Sasuke barely remembers who Deidara is, he’s just grumpy he couldn’t bring anyone from Taka with him.
Meanwhile Taka is just. They’re assholes? Taka bitches enough to hunt him down. They excuse it with "Juugo needs you" -- "I'm in a different dimension, eighty years in the past, how did you..." -- "Science ninja. Best sensor on the continent." -- "Also we asked Orochimaru for help." -- "Yeah, we asked Orochimaru for help."
Taka being there signals a marked improvement in Sasuke’s demeanor and cooperation, and Kakashi just resigns himself to having four more kids. -- Juugo is a godsend when he's not being set off into a homicidal rage. And he apologizes! Meanwhile, Karin and Suigetsu are The Worst.
T7+Obito and Deidara have been in the past and bullying the clans into a peace for like a week and then they just hear MASSIVE ROARING a mile away and Sasuke's like "Oh, hey, it's my idiots." -- Sasuke’s grinning for the first time in weeks. (It’s tiny and barely perceptible but it’s there.) -- I don't know that Taka could actually help at all, but they sure can cause more problems. Unlike Deidara, most of them are not intentional.
Suigetsu: Hey, Sasuke, so I know that Deidara guy tried to kill you... Sasuke: He did? Suigetsu: --but would you be mad if I tried to hook up with him? Sasuke: I don't care, knock yourself out.
(Suigetsu is the kind of man that wears tearaway pants just to reveal rainbow leggings that say "I'M GAY" on them. If Suigetsu and Sasuke didn't have at least one 'no homo' make-out session... well, I wouldn't put money on it either way, but I do think it's a valid reading of the text.)
------------------
Deidara: What's it like when Obito actually decides to be serious? Kakashi: Uhhhhhhhhhhhh Obito, previously:
Kakashi: Trauma. It's trauma.

Naruto Fic Rec Masterpost!
Adoption by Defenestration; or, A Family Can Be A Fox Demon, Its Jinchuuriki, and Three Dozen Highly-Trained Assassins by elumish Oneshot, Gen, Fluff, child neglect, Naruto gets unofficially adopted by his anbu guards and it’s incredibly cute Summary: He will not be the ANBU who let the jinchuuriki plummet to his death out a fourth story window. Let that be another ANBU’s legacy.
Being Over-Prepared is Impossible (and other mottos) by Pleasedial123 Longfic, Gen, Team Seven, team as family, Bamf Kakashi, Bamf team 7, au, kakashi pov, Complete but part of a three part series and the third part is still ongoing, still highly recommend, what team 7 should have been, Skilled Teacher! Kakashi Summary: In one world, Kakashi awoke, felt grieved at being assigned a team he sees his own in, and he let that grief make him a lazy teacher. He saw himself in Sasuke, Obito in Naruto, and Rin in Sakura. He woke, saw himself in them, and took a large step back, regretting accepting them as his new team. In that world he was quite hands off - merely a watcher because it was so very painful to watch. He saw himself and all his mistakes in this new team of his.
In this world, Kakashi awoke, saw the similarities, and instantly panicked.
He suddenly realised what he had done, passing a team. Kakashi was left scrambling not to repeat old mistakes and regrets. This team would not suffer the fate of his team.
In this world, simply put, Kakashi became a teacher. This is the beginning of a new team seven.
Something in the water by maldoror_gw Oneshot, Gen, Teen and Up for language, hilarious, Tsunade pov, fluff, mild crack, pre-shippuden post naruto,
Summary: "Sakura...what is that man reading?" Tsunade asked in a dangerous voice. Sakura's gaze twitched away from her ex-teacher to her new - and temperamental - mentor. "Erm...a book...written by a...well-respected member of the community...about...romance?" Tsunade noted with passing approval that Sakura was demonstrating both loyalty and quite a lot of imagination in defending her one-time team leader (who was now trying to edge around a pillar to get away from Tsunade's venomous glare).
backslide by blackkat Time travel, time travel fix it, mature, fluff, team seven, m/m, slow build romance, Naruto adopts himself, Uzumaki heritage, bamf Naruto, complete longfic, Summary: Naruto’s friends are gone, his lover is dying, Konoha is destroyed, and Madara’s second return has pushed the entire world to the brink. Hunted and harried, Naruto is sent back in time to upend Madara’s plan before it even starts, and sets about changing everything. Butterfly effect nothing: the world is at stake, and Naruto is hardly about to let it fall to ruin once more. Not while he’s still breathing.
Tobirama Kicks Some Sense Into Konoha by allseer15 Hurt/comfort, whump, emotional whump, time travel, fix it, time travel fix it, The ‘what if Tobirama came to the future saw an orphaned Naruto and adopted the shit out of him’ Fic, Iconique, child neglect, child abandonment, fluff, so much fluff, completed longfic, look I have a weakness for the time travel fix it trope at the best of times but this fic is good even looking at it without focusing on that! Prolonged Tobirama content, Senju lore, senju feels, Summary: The Hidden Leaf Village in Naruto's time seems to have forgotten just why the village was founded and have lost their way. Through a mishap with a hiraishin seal, Tobirama finds himself during Naruto's time and he is having none of this nonsense. His brother may be gone, but he won't stand to have Hashirama's dream trampled so. And if he has to cause a civil war or burn the village down to the ground? Well that depends on how much resistance he meets. All Tobirama does know for certain is that no child will suffer underneath the protection of Konoha and if he has to take them in and care for them himself, then he will.
Hardest of hearts by blackkat Oneshot, Gen, look I really like blackkat’s naruto fic okay, part one of a completed three part series, all three parts are great, Fix its are the best, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Time Travel, Time Travel Fix It, Orochimaru redemption story, the sheer shadenfreude of one baddie fucking over another baddie, in this case Danzo, Obito has a ‘bad guy but not that bad of a guy’ solidarity moment with Orochimaru at the start and I loved it so there’s that, featuring a low key constantly horrified at this turn of events Minato,
Summary: Orochimaru gets one more chance. Just maybe, it will be enough to save him—and the entire world as well.
A Snake In the Grass, a Wolf At the Door by blackkat Mature, Completed ten chapter fic, Orochimaru redemption story, Orochimaru/Kakashi’s dad, you read that right, quality Sakumo content, Families of Choice, Humour, Fluff and Angst, somewhat crackish, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, baby Kakashi being a cutie Summary: Orochimaru is on the edge of breaking when someone unexpected pulls him back to solid ground. When the time comes, he returns the favour.
Nukenin by WhisperingDarkness Gen, dimension travel, team seven, team as family, Kakashi actually being a good sensei even when he’s not a sensei at all, possessive kakashi, Team Seven is his team, Kinda Fluffy, Protective Kakashi, the ‘this might as well happen’ adaptability is real, Kakashi adopts team seven and team seven adopts kakashi, even though he’s illegal, 4 chapter fic, marked as complete as author doesn’t plan to continue it, but even taking these chapters as stand alone this fic is great,
Summary: In the sealed scroll he finds a Bingo Book – his own page marking him as an S-class nukenin with flee-on-sight orders. “Ok. That is definitely different.” In his head he blames Naruto – even if his number one unpredictable student had been nowhere near him on this mission. When things go this stupidly impossibly wrong it must somehow be the future Hokage’s fault.
Ear to the Wall by Vodkassassin Ongoing, it’s really really good though! great Kakashi content, Minato is very stressed and I love him, Sickfic, Hurt/Comfort, whump, PTSD’d Kakashi gets to relive his childhood but gets a little bit of a real childhood along the way, ADHD Rin, time travel fix it, look I like what I like and what I like is fix its and time travel apparently, Kakashi adopts Orochimaru before he descends into douchbaggery, Orochimaru Redemption story, everyone is alive, Summary: The Minato-sensei beams at him, and replies, “Kakashi! I’m glad you’re awake,” and, yup, that’s Minato-sensei’s voice. Kakashi falls back down against the bed, closing his eyes. It’s too short of a way down, and he clenches hands that are too tiny and feeble and not his in dog-print sheets he hasn’t owned for decades.
How To Save The World With No One Even Realising by IncompleteSentanc (Erava) Gen, Teen and Up, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death, time travel fix it, Canonically Accurate OP Team 7, SuperBadass!Sakura, SuperBadass!Sasuke, SuperBadass!Naruto, RegularBadass!Shikamaru, Canonically Violent Sasuke, Equally Violent Sakura, Saving The World One Murder At A Time, Various Jinchuuriki, Team 7 As Super Villains, Doing Super Villainy Stuff, Like Murder, And Professional Eyeball Removal, Poor Obito, Poor Minato, AKA The Worst Four Months of Minato's Life, And Everyone Else's Too, Dark Humor, Bittersweet Ending, Dark Comedy, Crack treated seriously, completed 3 chapter fic, Well worth the read, Team 7 To The End! Summary: Minato knows at the beginning of the week that it's going to be a hellish one. Mostly because it starts with the kidnapping of one of his two remaining students, only a year after they'd lost the first one. He just doesn't realise at the time that it's not going to be a hellish week - it's going to be hell for quite a bit longer than that. It all starts with Rin's kidnapping, and her subsequent rescue at the hands of a mysteriously appearing, monstrously strong, murderously violent woman. A woman with cotton candy pink hair. It only devolves from there.
Just Killing Time by Elizabeth Culmer (edenfalling) Gen, Oneshot, Short and Sweet, Classic of The Fandom, Ficlet, Team 7, Kids being Kids, Fluff, Fluff and Humour, Slice of Life, Cute Kids
Summary: After Wave Country and before the chuunin exam, Team 7 kills time while waiting for Kakashi to show up.
there lies a trail of fire behind us by BowAndDagger Gen, Madara is extremely confused but mostly on board, Time Travel au, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Bamf Naruto Uzumaki, Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Except Zetsu, Alternate Universe - Time Travel, Fix-It, Founders Era, clan wars era, Pre-Slash, POV Uchiha Madara, the Completed part one of an Ongoing/Incomplete series, completed 4 chapter fic, Summary: As he returns from a mission, Madara makes a strange encounter with an even stranger shinobi. Then, he’s summarily kidnapped to go on a quest to save the world by said weird shinobi. (He absolutely did not choose to follow the stranger on his own free will. He was kidnapped. He did not give chase. He did not.)
A Political Perspective by VJ Riddle / MueraRashaye Ongoing, Possibly (Probably) Discontinued, Teen and Up, Gen, Team 7, training montage deluxe, Konoha is a murder village, Good Teacher! Kakashi, AU, slowly developing into Bamf team 7, Bamf Kakashi, slowly developing into Team as Family, lots of fun ideas, not crack, Minor Spoiler: Zabuza and Haku get x’d before their character development gets its chance to shine in this fic, Sometimes people don’t warn for that in the tags and it can be a dealbreaker in fic for me as I love those two, not a dealbreaker in the case of this fic though! Really good fic so far, kind of verging on dry in places but it always stays fun in the end with lots of interesting elements, I enjoy the character insight from the pov switching, and also how much of a headcase Kakashi is, graphic depictions of violence, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence,
Summary: Hatake Kakashi was a shinobi, and as a shinobi, the only people who could give him orders were his military superiors. The idea that a Council made up of civilians and peers was under the impression they could give him orders...displeased him. Or: He was ordered to pass Team 7. He was fine with that, until they actually passed.
Integrity by Liz_Starling Oneshot, Gen, Canon-Typical Violence, Canon Compliant, Integrity, Child Neglect, BAMF Uzumaki Naruto, Reflections on Naruto’s inner workings as a person, promises,
Summary: Naruto keeps his word. Some people are loyal to their families. Some, their orders. Naruto is loyal to the only thing he’s been able to count on; the promises he makes.
Foundation (Build It Higher, Bury It Deeper) by RayShippouUchiha Ongoing, BUT EXCELLENT, it made me cry, Naruto feels, 6 chapter fic thus far, Bamf Naruto, Bamf Tsunade, Naruto deserved better, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Angst and Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Canon-Typical Violence, Gen, Mature, Team 7, Uzumaki Feels, Abandonment, Tsunade gives Naruto the personal talk he deserved instead of finding out from a chakra imprint when he was dying, so we stan, I love this fic
Summary: It’s just… he’d thought, given his fight against Neji and then his confrontation with Gaara, that someone would finally really acknowledge what he’d done. That beyond Iruka-sensei’s crushing hug and Kakashi-sensei’s absent pat, someone would actually notice that he’d won against both of them.
That he’d beaten a genius on his own and then had battled another jinchūriki to a stand still.
So while he hadn’t really expected to be promoted too he’d still ...
