Ngl, I figured you were mostly interacting with ancoms but I didn't want to be like "oh those guys kinda suck imo: don't judge the rest of us by them" in case that wasn't the case. I did have a feeling that you weren't a Capitalist since most of them tend to think we *do* live in a "trust thy neighbor" system. I figured you were either a liberal/progressive or social democrat.
I don't know why anarcho-communism got so popular when the orange fascist got into power back in 2016, but- in my experience- it mostly doesn't exist among people who have had any kind of interaction with older leftists who can remember the summer of '69. Like, if you know your history, then you probably don't need me to tell you both People's Temple (Jonestown) and the Manson Family were ancom style communes. You're absolutely right that that system is extremely flawed- it was developed by a traumatized and nostalgic old man, after all, who wanted to encourage Leninists to go back to a time when they weren't trying to shoot him: not someone standing in real opposition to Lenin and Stalin, like Trotsky. Given that it sounds like the people you're dealing with don't know that, I think your criticism is completely valid- in regards to ancoms- in hindsight.
I didn't know how much interaction you'd had with anarchists- otherwise I would've skipped the diatribe on individualist Anarchism: it's an important starting point if you know nothing other than how anarchists are portrayed in media (and was important to my own journey to Anarchism) but I agree that it's not relevant to someone talking about the actual realities of an anarchist society.
As far as my views go, mutualism is more of a minority than it was in the past- syndicalism is definitely the majority view- but it's very prevalent in the punk subculture and is pretty much the guiding philosophy behind the DIY-ethic. You organize when you want to about causes you support: you don't have to worry about your union selling out to fascists like the syndicalists. You advocate for yourself and your community, and the end goal is just a society where people don't die in the fucking street because some greedy asshole down the road refused to help.
It's basically liberalism with teeth: the guiding texts are the same (Paine's Common Sense, Thoreau's Civil Disobedience, King's Letter from Birmingham Jail, etc) but you actually mean it when you say everybody's equal and everybody's capable of being wrong. I was raised by alt right assholes, so- once I realized that was bullshit- I worked really hard to find and cultivate a philosophy that would avoid their racism and dogmatism. And- surprising no one- I found it with the punks and the nerds lol
The reason I’m not an anarchist is that in the centuries before the Americans with disabilities act people could have all installed safe wheelchair ramps in all of their buildings and they didn’t.
If you’re trying to make a system that relies on people being nice I’m not gonna go with it.

What people often get wrong about young Ford
Strong title, I know. By young Ford,” I mean baby and teen Ford.
When people think of baby Ford, what kind of personality do they envision? Many times—as I can attest due to fanfic reading—they seem to picture him as shy, sweet, quiet, and, in Stan’s words, “Mr. Good Nerdy-Shoes” who couldn’t stand up for himself nor think of disobeying adult authority. Look at his adorable little face.

When they think of teen Ford, he is not so sweet anymore, true—but he still contrasts greatly with his adult self, who is so assertive and confrontational, and even with young Stan, who looks extra brash next to him. That is ostensibly why Ford couldn’t stand up for Stan in the principal’s office, even though he would have had if he had more courage.
Is this general portrayal faithful to what we’re shown in canon? My own answer would be a firm no. I’ll elaborate why, exactly, below the cut.
The first thing we have to establish, imo, is that young Ford isn’t a completely different creature, a boy unrecognisable from the man he is going to become. That even baby Ford already shared, to a certain extent, some of adult Ford’s traits, and not only the most “wholesome” of them—the endearing fascination with science and anomalies and nerdiness, that is.
We can notice, for example, his ambition (back then):

We can notice he’s apparently (from what is shown to us, which is not much) the one used to decide what the Stan twins did every day, the Phineas to Stan’s Ferb:

Stan asks him, and he answers—a perhaps unintended but still fascinating parallel to how Ford was also the one to decide their destiny in the finale, namely to hunt anomalies in the Arctic.
He’s the one who rides their bike in the two panels we see them riding it. Maybe an insignificant (and definitely unintended) detail but fitting, imo, with the pattern of Ford leading and Stan tagging along.

Despite these two observations being more my particular observations than anything else, the need to draw a visual parallel between baby Ford with his adult self was the whole point of dressing them in similar outfits, with the red turtleneck:

That said, let’s focus on two major things here...
Was Ford ever a goody-two-shoes?
I think nothing is more fitting than to start this topic with Stan’s little nickname for Ford in the comics: “Mr. Goody Nerd-Shoes.”

If you have read Journal 3—hell, if you have watched the show at all—you know that Stanford Pines is far, far from being a goody two-shoes, despite indeed being a huge nerd. (An important distinction! Ford doesn’t fit nerd stereotypes!) The guy stole radioactive waste from the government even before his portal days, became an intergalactic criminal described as “armed and dangerous,” lent a mind-control tie to a child... Stan is just living in the past and doesn’t understand that Ford changed, right? He isn’t that sweet little boy who could do no wrong anymore!
But... was he ever?
He found it hilarious when Stan mocked their teacher with an unflattering caricature, and doesn’t even bother to hide it.

He helped Stan cheat on tests/assignments (it’s not clear what exactly they’re doing here, but the fact Stan was trying hard to copy it from Ford and not from the blackboard tells us he wasn’t simply copying notes, but answers). Do notice that Ford doesn’t seem bothered, not even anxious or afraid of the teacher catching them. He’s smiling.

Both occasions seem to indicate that despite taking his studies seriously, Ford didn’t have a particularly strong fear of adult authority.
And of course—the best for last—he found it perfectly normal to impersonate two boys he mistakenly thought were dead:

Alex elaborates on the shenanigans those two would get up to in the commentary A Tale of Two Stans:
We played around with the idea that you would see them working together doing little science games or pulling little pranks. There was actually a scene that—I think some of it was even storyboarded—where they have a treehouse. And they’re in the treehouse together and Crampelter and his friends have tracked them down and are begging for their lunch money and Stan and Ford have used their jerkiness and geniusness to rig up like a water balloon throwing machine that knocks Crampelter in the head. I remember him saying, “oh no, my old-timey paper crown!” We were really hanging a lampshade on all these sort of Little Rascal cliches.
They were—both of them—an utter menace. I think Ford just happened to be way subtler about it than poor Stan, causing his misbehaving nature to be easily ignored by both the audience and, luckily, his father Filbrick.
Was Ford ever meek and conflict-avoidant?
I think many people think Stan was the protector and Ford the protected in their early years, but it was never as straightforward as this.

Young Ford is very sensitive about one thing in particular: when people mock his hands or imply he’s a freak. The way I see it, it’s because he believes that, deep down. He believes he’s indeed a freak. On top of that, he cares more about general public opinion than Stan does, since Stan is only ever shown to care about the opinion of his own family.

The insecurity about his hands is something that arguably follows him to adulthood:
(Of course, Ford doesn’t blush and doesn’t demonstrate any insecurity here, but he’s gotten way better at hiding and/or suppressing his feelings. I doubt Bill would have chosen this to pick up on if he didn’t think it would hurt.)
Outside of that, however?

He was quite confrontational! Certainly way more than I remember being when I was his age, as a conflict-avoidant child.
Quite angry, too:

(Notice how, in the original idea of Stan and Ford rigging up a water fountain described in the previous topic, Ford wasn’t afraid to pull a prank on Crampelter, either, despite being sensitive towards Crampelter’s targeted mocking of his hands.)
And most interesting of all—he was not afraid of stand up for Stanley, even when it would cost him to do so (considering that the Sibling Brothers had threatened to frame him as well and let him face Filbrick’s punishment along with Stan in case he made the wrong choice):

Not even when Filbrick was involved directly, instead of being used as the Siblings Brothers’ invisible threat! Pay attention to how Stan hides behind Ford as he tells Ford, “tell ‘im, Sixer!” basically using his brother as a shield, hahah. And, by the way, subverting the common fanon perception that Stan would often protect his twin from his father while a helpless, scared Ford would only watch and let him take the punishment. This is one of the reasons why he gets angry at Stan for lying: “I defended you!”

When Stan is being kicked out, he actively asks Ford for help, once again, just like he did as a kid!

Not even their mom, Caryn, but Ford!
And Stan knows Ford like the back of his hand! Why would Stan ask for Ford to defend him, to stand up to Filbrick, if he didn’t think Ford was capable of it? Ford’s protection was something that Stan thought he could rely on, if only this once, with such high stakes and urgency... despite...

... despite Ford completely failing to defend him in front of the principal, yes.
Remember how Ford always struggled to defend himself from comments that he believed deep, deep down? I think a similar thing was happening here, in the principal’s office. Of course, he wouldn’t have thought of Stan as “a clown,” at the very least not consciously, and he loved his brother, but at that point in their lives the difference between Ford’s and Stan’s accomplishments and abilities must have been undeniable, with the world at large pointing it out more and more often.
This moment in the series was also probably inspired by the real moment in Alex’s life that inspired the scene in which Mabel overhead Ford’s proposal to Dipper, according to the commentary of Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future:
This idea of Mabel overhearing Dipper and feeling left out actually came from a real thing that happened between me and my sister. This is a weird anecdote about me and my sister but we did this kind of like, sort of competitive improv games when we were in middle school, very nerdy. And we did pretty good, like, our team made it to the international competition every year, and there was this high school team... [...] We had a pretty good team, but there was a team above us, the high school team, that was like, legendary, that we wanted to be like. And when me and my sister went from junior high school to high school, like, this is going to be our last year to do this sort of competitive improv, and I got a call from the high school team saying “hey, guess what? we already raided your team for the standout members, we’ve taken the people from your team that always do good scores and we’re combining the high school team and the middle school team into a super team and we would like you to be on the high school team. And I was like, “what about Ariel?” And they were like, “well, there’s only seven members per team—” and Ariel was listening on the conversation and I remember her like, bursting into tears because they had basically been like yeah, we got two Hirsches [and] we only want one, and I didn’t even blink. I just said, “no, I refuse to be on this team.” Like, I couldn’t, it was just like, this is so messed up, you’re breaking this whole thing apart, like yeah, it’s a great team, yeah, you guys are awesome, but I’m not gonna do this without Ariel.
Based on Alex’s immediate and strong reaction to such a proposal, it’s not a stretch to think Ford’s silence here was indeed telling—especially because in Alex’s case, Ariel was never insulted. The principal, on the other hand, calls Stan a “clown,” says “he’ll be lucky to graduate high school.”
And because Caryn (who failed to defend Stan when he’s kicked out) did react about the way the principal was talked about him/did ask about him, in the two opportunities that were given to her, basically taking Alex’s irl role in the situation:
Dipper himself also asked about Mabel, even though he was being given an opportunity to learn from The Author of the Journals, whom he admired to the point of almost worship:
A significant factor I think could have changed for Ford to stay silent as the principal badmouthed Stan is: Ford’s priorities. Before, when they were children and more carefree and naive, it was Stan > the world (such as other people’s opinions and his ambition). Now, though, with a true opportunity to finally prove himself—one unlike any other he had before, capable of earning him the approval of even their “tough as a cinderblock” father—he was clinging hard to it.
And you might also be thinking, “but the examples you gave of Ford being assertive were only of baby Ford! Teen Ford could have grown more insecure. Perhaps Stan hadn’t realized that yet, or perhaps Stan was just desperate.” To that I say... fair enough! We don’t have enough canon material regarding teen Ford to decide how he behaved.
But we do have something regarding college Ford, just as he entered college, likely just months after Stan was kicked out—when he met Fiddleford, as described by Fiddleford himself on the TBoB website:

Lines such as “[...] my room mate, a freshman from New Jersey, barged in like he owned the place [...]” and “confidently declared” are very telling here. Of course, Ford didn’t stand up for Fiddleford in front of the whole class, but I honestly think that a) it was a different situation, considering the sheer amount of people/the presence of a public audience, and, partially due to that, b) it would have been a very unintelligent move if he didn’t have anything to defend Fiddleford with (to brag about something with zero backup, even if motivated by anger, is a very typical move of cartoon characters to create conflict for the plot... and also quite annoying to me personally, so I’m glad Ford didn’t go that route, hahah). Deciding to prove that Fiddleford’s theory was accurate first to shove it in everyone’s face second is a way smarter move and way, way more in line with Ford’s modus operandi, who—well—loves shoving the undeniable truth and/or his undeniable superiority in people’s faces. (From Journal 3, when Ford was already living in Gravity Falls: “I traveled to Northwest Manor to confront Old Man Northwest with the evidence of his family’s deceit [...]” and “Imagine the look on the dean of West Coast Tech’s face when he saw that the student he refused was now the next Einstein! Imagine how proud my family and hometown would be: the ‘Freak’ would return a hero!”) Personally, the vibes I get from this seem to indicate a very confident Ford already! A Ford who would have defended Stan if he weren’t already slowly internalizing and subconsciously agreeing with the things people said about his brother, or—at the very least—asked the principal about Stan’s fate, like Alex, Caryn, and Dipper did/would have done in his place.
We also have a clear parallel between baby Ford in The Jersey Devil’s in the Details and teen Ford in A Tale of Two Stans. Both have people telling them they’re better than Stan. One defends Stan strongly, the other listens quietly. Both feel betrayed by Stan. One forgives Stan, the other doesn’t. Filbrick was involved in both situations—one wasn’t afraid of being framed if it meant standing with his brother, the other didn’t stand with his brother even as his brother was kicked out of the house.

Let’s remember the Sibling Brothers’ words to him:

“One day you’re gonna realize that you’re too good for him.” Unfortunately, that prophecy came true! Way too true!

In the commentary of Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future, Jason Ritter (Dipper’s VA) suggested that Ford believed than “you can be held back by your siblings,” to which Alex agreed. It’s not necessary to accept Word of God to understand this fact, either:

I didn’t want to end all of this on such a bitter note, since my last intention with this post is to give people more reason to hate on Ford. He is actually my favorite character and, if the parallels between The Jersey Devil’s in the Details and A Tale of Two Stans teach us anything, it is that Ford did have reasons to distrust Stan/not believe Stan was telling the truth about it being an accident. (Stan lies really, really well when he wants to! See: Not What He Seems!) It is exactly because of him being my favorite character, though, that I am so fascinated by his characterization, and I think baby Ford’s loyalty and courage deserves more appreciation. Teen Ford, on the other hand—it was never courage that he lacked.

making a post about how the fandom characterises elliot bcs ts pmo icl 🥀🥀🥀
(small cw for mentioned attempted murder towards a child [fictional ofc]. but this is the forsaken fandom so i dont think most people will care. oh also this is a REALLY long post so. beware)
sooo im pretty new to the fandom but after having browsed almost every sfw 7n7 fic on ao3, its safe to say elliot's characterisation (or, well, mischaracterisation), is becoming a HUGE problem. a lot of people make him pissy around n7 and c00lkidd, which, to be fair, he has a right to be pissy! but the way they execute this is where things go wrong.
this is a more extreme example, but here's the gist of an au my friend found on tiktok (not linking for the creator's sake, which, speaking of, if you've seen this au and know the creator, please don't harass them. i mean i shouldn't have to say that but im still putting it out there):
honestly i agree with the last sentence he said, even i know this is bs even though i've only been a forsaken fan for like a week or smth 😭😭🥀🥀 to show you why, let me break down what we do know of how elliot's personality, how he feels about n7 and c00lkidd, and how he expresses it:
he is generally portrayed as a sweet and kind person, who always wants to help wherever he can.
he 'hates' n7 due to what c00lkidd did to the pizzeria (according to the fanmade wiki), though nothing has (canonically) ever been said about his feelings towards c00lkidd himself (to my knowledge)
he is not openly hostile towards n7, and has never canonically said anything 'mean' to his face, only acted passive aggressive (e.g. "...just get going").
i do disagree with his feelings towards n7 being 'hate' rather than just 'strongly dislike' (trust me, theyre VERY different things), but i digress. even if we were to say elliot hated n7, some people portray him as not even hating, but loathing him (this is an even bigger problem in pizzaburger fics/aus imo). if you want to write a complicated/negative relationship between two characters who are not your own, it's vital to know the difference between dislike, hate and loathe (as seen below).
(via langeek.co)
the reason i say elliot strongly dislikes n7 as opposed to hate is because hatred is often accompanied with a sense of hostility (while dislike is more avoidant, which fits elliot more imo when we look at their canon interactions). if you hate someone, you will not want to help them, and to be fair, i've read a handful of fics where elliot straight up refuses to give n7 pizza, or is at least hesitant. i dont think that's how elliot would behave. yes he is mad at n7 for not controlling his son, and has a grudge against him, but at his core, elliot is a kind guy. even if he wasn't, he'd never leave someone to die, no matter how temporary.
but continuing on the whole 'elliot loathes n7' dynamic, it becomes even more jarring when you apply it as an 'enemies to lovers' pizzaburger dynamic. even more so if you don't do the work to make it well paced. here are some tips on how you can do that:
pay heed to the rest of this post and do NOT make elliot too aggressive towards 007n7 in your fic. otherwise, it may feel too forced, especially if you don't want to go through the slowburn route. feel free to let the guy be passive aggressive though, just don't make him feel uncontrollable hatred every time he sees 07 (i prefer to think he feels manageable disdain, though i think you can tell by now).
on the other side of the coin, do NOT make n7 too pathetic. im all for him being a soggy wet cat, but at the end of the day, that's a grown ass man that was once very similar to c00lkidd. at the very least, i don't think he'd be crying left and right, considering this is a former terrorist, lol.
this is more me telling you guys to be creative than giving tips on pacing (since im not very creative myself, so i dont have many tips myself rn) but if you want to write the exact moment elliot began to like and respect n7, i don't really like the idea of n7 achieving that by bodyblocking for elliot?? like. it's not typically executed right bcs again. it often does what i advised against in the above two points. if you wanna do smth like that in your fic/comic, try comprimising by making it a clone block instead, and letting n7 be a REALLY good distractor like those aggressive n7 main. (i left this incomplete on accident when i posted this lol)
just overall make sure elliot is respectful to n7 during the late pining and post establishing the relationship stages!! it's perfectly fine if you want him to say 'mean' stuff to him that he doesnt mean (think of how siblings, friends, and again, sometimes partners, joke with each other. tough love or wtv), but don't make him have a hate boner for the guy lol. unless youre writing smut where there are actual hate boners involved, i aint getting involved in allat.
anyways, idk how to end this post off, so on a more positive note, go check out this pizzaburger yaoilicious peak rn !!! and feel free to add your own opinions, idm having a discussion as long as youre respectful, and am likely to add more to this post if you remind me of smth i might wanna say (im not the best at articulating myself lol) !!
#also i may have accidentally left some sentences incomplete. oops#patched these where i could but there r still some i mightve missed#spawn's testament#character analysis#elliot#forsaken elliot#forsaken#roblox forsaken#forsaken 007n7#007n7#forsaken c00lkidd#c00lkidd#f0rs4k3nbyth3sp4wn#pizzaburger#cw child death#tw child death#<- tagging those bcs of the aforementioned au

Hey just a question, but I have an OC who's intersex and I've realized that giving him gynecomastia probably is not sufficient rep, so I was considering doing some research into larger variations that can cause that among other things. Any recommendations for ones to look into? I was thinking maybe PAIS, but I'm not sure if that would be best.
Honestly, just giving him gynecomastia can be sufficient rep IMO, but researching specific variations to give him based off that is cool as shit also! You could learn what other intersex traits you could toss at him as a result— such as cryptorchidism. which basically just means "balls haven't dropped" /lh
PAIS (or MAIS!) can work, but some other variations you could toss his way could be...
• Aromatase Excess Syndrome (body makes too much of the hormone that turns testosterone into estrogen, so huzzah hyperestrogenism happens)
• Klinefelter Syndrome (XXY chromosomes; you could add more chromies (XXYY) make or him mosaic if you want a different phenotype? i.e. XX/XXY mosaicism, I read a paper that talked about a teenage boy with that layout it was kinda intriguing, though warning it uses DSD and other pathologizing language (link))
• You could give him ovotestes? Which with the above linked ovotestes just sort of Happened but they often do with sex chromosome mosaicism. Since they tend to go hand in hand, like PCOS and CAH seem to do. And people with ovotestes have VEEERY variable bodies, from being typical-appearing female or male, to all range of phenotypes in between and outside of the binary.
Undoubtedly there's probably a whole bunch of other variations that slipped my mind, but these are just some things you can consider! I'd recommend checking out the hyperlinks under my "what is intersex" question in my faq post (first link in my pinned)! It has glossaries of variations you can parse through and see how you feel. If you have any other questions comments whatever related to your OC or not, feel free to throw them at me!

challengers (and, on some level iwtv) on the brain it really is so funny how so many people often will happily talk about polyamory as a solution to their little ships but when confronted with narratives that truly explore that it can't compute for them and they start picking teams of two.
#even if it's gay that's still heteronormative thinking. imo#because it's just not something they even understand/respect in real life#a throuple is always a scandal it's a juicy piece of gossip it's a display of audacity to youse#and with challengers being that spectacle of something so rarely portrayed (positively or negatively) it IS exciting!!#but really some people are just wired that way and it works for them and it can be the most blasé thing in the world#but also this world is full of unfortunate relationships attempting this with people who just aren't wired that way!#with monogamous-leaning(?) people trying something that doesn't work for them as a solution to their own relationship issues#and so as the majority they end up viewing it as inherently toxic and deviant. and then in fiction it's still just spicy to them!#challengers

Hi!! I was thinking, what's your opinion about inktolings? Like I'm 99% sure they'll never be properly canon (due to various reasons including biology), but I wondered if you had any specific thoughts or headcanons about them. I'd love to know :')
in general, personally not a fan of the concept of hybrids in the splatoon world. if it were possible for stable hybrids to happen in a society comprised of so many species that have been intermingling for generations, i dont think we'd see the level of speciation that we do. it makes for messy worldbuilding.
inklings and octolings have had peaceful relations with each other for millennia and with how similar they look, i have zero doubt that some have tried for kids. but biologically speaking squids and octopuses as distant as cats and dogs (maybe even more distant than that, at least cats and dogs share a taxonomic order, squids and octopuses only share a class). the only way id imagine an inktoling to exist would be nothing short of a miracle, and would be sterile, likely with some kind of health issues. the sapient herrings in splatoon can produce hundreds of children and this likely applies at least to other species of fish too. for couples of different species who want children, i think there would be no shortage of children to adopt.
#asks#octolings#inklings#splatoon headcanon#society#biology#the splatoon world is scifi at its core and i like to imagine it as having some level realism and real world logic where it can#so imo having stable interspecies hybrids being a regular thing is just. too fantastical. and headache inducing to imagine how that works#should go without saying. me not being too much of a fan of hybrids in splatoon is not an invitation to shit on people who do like them

have you ever imagined snape as a gen z? i always had this creeping wonder of what the dynamics would've been if the marauders' era was to be set as them being gen z 😭
Well I'm not in the Maraudeur fandom but... isn't this what they are doing with the fanon? (of course in their stories Severus is a rapist-stalker-nazi-eating-babies-monster)
To answer your question I've never tried to imagine him as a Gen Z because I wouldn't even be ABLE to. To me Gen Z is like looking at a foggy scenery: some parts I see and understand, other are super vague or too distant to me (because I'm a confused Millennial). But most importantly I can't because him being Gen Z would completely change his whole life so it wouldn't be the same character, y'know? Being born in 1960, living in the slums is part of his DNA. Same for all other Maraudeur-era characters.
#honestly it wouldn't be the same story#like AT ALL#and to me that would be a shame#tho I can understand why some people might like modernizing it so they can project better#but I think the story doesn't (imo) need to be modernized because as I previously said it's not particularly set in a time period#except for the mentalities#which are indeed from their times#like there's NO TALK about mental health#but this is precisely why they're so fucked up and interesting#and why it's fun to provide them with it in various fanfic works for example#but putting them in a modern setting from the get go just... completely changes them#I like Sev because he's messed up#I have empathy for him because I am too#I wish he was feeling better#and I wish he had the tools to point his own flaws and Lily's at the time#but that's why they're interesting#severus snape#hp

Maya went on The Internet Is Dead podcast to be interviewed about her relationship with Liam and it's interesting; I recommend it for people who were curious about untangling the details in her book from real life (they talk about this in a number of different places with some detail), people who think she's making everything up, and anyone else sending hostile asks about her- we know she is following the fandom talk and responding to it but I have to say it's very satisfying to listen to her rattle through the exact arguments anons on here are sending around and answer every one of them.
some detail below the cut:
The experience was kind of grating at times; maybe it's just me but I never find it enjoyable to listen to people outside of fandom or casual 1D fans talk about us, and I cringe and bristle literally every time someone says "these people" or "they think", plus the hosts are not super useful; they refer to her tiktoks and book repeatedly without actually giving context for the discussion, like I could do with the occasional "in the book you say…" rather than just chatting about it and leaving us to figure out what they are talking about (they don't even say the name of the book), but whatever. There's interesting stuff in there so it was worth it for me and if you prefer you can just get my highlights, here ya go-
-Her making the point that the media training all of the 1D guys have done from such a young age not only impacts how they talk to the press but also how they talk to people in their lives, the tools it gives them for communicating with (and in this case, manipulating) people was fascinating to me, I hadn't thought about that but I will be in the future with regard to all of them, it's just very interesting to have in mind
-she says she had the book read by lawyers before publishing because it was about someone real and real events, and provided proof for things they asked about
-she points out that she has nothing to gain from making this up, and that as someone who works in a law office and is planning to go to legal school, that the fact that bringing false accusations against someone is illegal would be a huge deterrent to lying
-she says that one of the reasons she initially soft pedaled in terms of outright saying that the book was about Liam was that podcasts and such she went on didn't want her to say it, didn't want the liability, and that when she did say it that part would not get printed or would be edited out (hey speaking of this what are all these interviews she did about the book why am I just now hearing about it... when you guys see stuff like this let me know! I am interested and will maybe recap for you even!)
-she mentions Liam's silence on the whole thing more than once; "if someone wrote that about me and it wasn't true I would not just say nothing!"
-she says that her and Liam went to see After not knowing it was a 1D fanfic and then, after finding that out, he joked that she should write a book about them, and that it was where the seed of the idea came from
#maya henry#I have some complicated thought about her comments on management#some of it is yes! and useful#some of it I just... don't have that much interest in these peoples' takes on modest actually#but some of it about liam and his relationship to his management... I think there's some naivete at work#like yes he can fire them#and also you could have left at the first sign of his bad behavior. sometimes there is more complexity at play in life than that#but overall ofc I do think what she's saying is correct: they are not and cannot force him to do anything and he absolutely could fire#anyone he wanted to#and honestly knowing everything we do its not hard to picture anyone who pushed too hard on him being fired right off#but he is also a mess and I think she (but with much more reason and excuse!) falls into the same trap as fandom which is#painting everyone as either an abuser or a victim. so since he an abuser he cannot also have difficulty asserting agency#and setting boundaries for what is okay for him#when ofc that's not true#so like...some complexity imo#but whatever#liam discourse

I was thinking there aren't enough memes catered to third parties on this site (ex. two muses talking about a third) which imo make rp flow so much smoother sometimes bc it feels more realistic for interactions to not start & end at only the two people directly involved, but then I realized... blud, you have a meme sideblog. You can literally make your own dreams come true
#◜✧ . ❪ ooc. ❫#I remember back in the day (<-2016ish) we all used to yap about each other's dynamics in-chara; for example friends would tease one another#about their alleged crushes; strangers would ask one another if they've seen [x/y/z] whether it was a friend of theirs or sb they want dead#and I recalled this today bc I saw one of the. idk maybe 5 total?? memes of this sort again... I stood there as if struck by lightning#Obviously I think it's especially great to do this organically/unprompted but I feel like a lot of people are (understandably!) shy about#bringing up one muse of theirs in an interaction where that muse isn't the main focus. I get it!! But imo it feels sm more lifelike#to experience those tiny details 🥹 I know at some point it was considered cringe (??) to use one muse to ask a mutual abt their other muse#(ex. me using Tobias to ask sb's muse about Elijah; me using Ango to ask sb's muse about Nikolai etc; you get the gist!)#but frankly........... WHO gaf about what's cringe & what isn't in this day and age 😭 I think we should all bring back being cringe & free#especially since these can be great drivers for BOTH the side dynamics (the people talking could become better friends) AND the people#from the main/primary dynamic whom they're talking about (a third party could help drive this dynamic further/make them realize things etc)#Once I get my break (real soon!!!!!!) I might work on making more of these memes bc starting w smth prompted may make it easier#for people to jump onboard & then later down the line we can eventually start doing stuff like this out of the blue too 🫡#And speaking of creating memes... I don't usually tend to; but if any of you guys ever have suggestions for memes you'd like to see#but can't find anywhere/can't find enough of? Lmk and I'll write them up for you so you can rb them & live the life of your rp dreams 🫡

#anon about the blog posting about me#people can think whatever they want#I have no reason to make up anons#if I was doing that I’d certainly make up something more interesting than what I get#LOL!#fans get worked up when I get something that rattles them#imo if you’re secure in your beliefs#some random person in tumblr getting an anonymous comment#isn’t going to change that#I think hets/GF harries are less secure than they pretend to be#I don’t like the format of that blog very much#they seem to publish anyone’s opinions#as a way to give people a place to gripe#But it ends up being mostly very negative

yaknow . ads obviously work, otherwise companies wouldn't put them everywhere, but i wanna know who in the fresh hell is falling for them. i don't think an ad, save for like,,, trailers for movies/games, has Ever worked on me. most of the time when i'm doing something and an ad interrupts me in any way i make a mental note to Not buy that product in the future outta spite.who is out here watching a febreze commercial and going Damn ur right guess im a febreze truther now
#qktalks#i can Sorta understand food commercials cuz it's sometimes hard to lookat the food in the commercial and Not want it#but like.the likelihood of me wanting it so bad that i get up and go to the store for it is like literally 0#and the likelihood of me Remembering that commercial and my craving like a week later when im actually at the store ? like 2%#i REALLY don't understand car commercials#like i get they're prolly targeting a very small audience who actually has enough money for or is actively looking to buy a car#but im just baffled it seems to be working. like they prolly wouldn't make these commercials if they didn't bring in sales#so obviously it's working.why on EARTH is it WORKING#most of them also boast abt acceleration speeds n shit which <3 imo <3 ur STOP speed should be the thing to advertise.#but that's another matter#celebrity commercials too ..... why r u more inclined to buy a coke bc some singer u like was in a coca cola commercial#why r people so obsessed w celebrities .........................ill never get it#anyway uhm . hi.bye

are you catholic? i wouldn't have said so
anon 😭😭 i'm not trying to make fun of you and i'm taking this as a compliment actually but i don't know how to tell you this... i'm literally italian 😭
but seriously, i've grown up catholic yeah, but i don't believe in god and haven't taken part in anything religious in many years. i would say i'm like culturally catholic tho. and technically still catholic to the eyes of the church bc baptism and all that
#not all italians are catholic obviously so fairs but i'm a white italian there's like a pretty high chance here#this made me laugh at first bc i feel like you can't really go on my blog and not notice i'm italian which kinda means i'm likely catholic#but yeah#actually have a complicated relationship with faith that summing it up here would be hard 😭😭😭#not in a religious trauma way even if i can't say it was a fun experience to grow up trans and gay and hear the shit catholics say about#people like me. and all that#but like i have prayed recently even if i'm not religious. i think if it helps other people who are religious that i pray for or with them#then it's a pleasure to do it. kinda hard to explain but i believe praying helps even if i don't believe in any entity you pray to#like i think it helps me too in a weird way. like it helps me when other people pray for me. i'm glad to know if they do#i guess the thing is that to me religion is community and i believe so much in the importance of community so i will gladly partecipate in#other people's religion to be close to them and to understand them better and also to feel some of what they feel. feel some of their faith#because the truth is that i would love to believe. in any god. or anything spiritual. i wish i had that comfort in my life#but well the reality is that i don't believe and you can't force faith so it is what it is. i tried finding faith before and it didn't work#i said i wouldn't sum it up here then i did sorry 😭😭 there's so much more tho like. for a non religious person i think about religion sm#and i have a great appreciation for it - then we can get into Organised Religion Problems territory and i will have lots to say too#but religion itself is like one of the most beautiful thing humanity has imo#ok i'll shut up#asks#anon

I think the biggest reason I struggled to connect with the Inquisitor as a character is because of the 'chosen one' trope
#and also bc the inquisitor imo becomes too important too quickly#i like stories where you have to drag through mud for people to respect you#like even in DA2 it's only in the third act where you get some cred to your name#in DAO you're busting your ass saving people and there's still some who'll criticize you#and i didn't feel that with the inquisitor?#like very quickly lots of people are asking help from the inquisition and you're put in this place of savior#and it's weird bc at the same time i'm being told this#by the NPCs and the narrative#i don't *feel* that?#like i know that the inquisitor is important and all but i don't get that feeling#idk how to explain#like its feels like i'm being told how important the inquisition has been for keeping the peace#and how we're helping so many people#but i don't feel that#which is strange right bc i felt that in dao#i got the dwarves elves and mages on my side and like whenever i was done with the main quests and order was restored to that place#and an NPC would be like thank you we'll help you fight the archdemon#i felt like i was doing something important#when the other characters from DA2 and DAI talk about how important the warden was for them it makes sense to me#i think the main thing is that the warden and hawke made me feel things but the inquisitor didn't#i'm playing as Adaar now and it's been more fun than with lavellan#but that feeling of i know the inquisitor is important but it doesn't feel that way is still there#and also i just really don't like chosen one narratives#bc like...ok let's look at the warden#yes the GW are the only ones who can end the blight but the warden is not the only warden there#there's still alistair or loghain#and also you have to really work your ass to get shit done in DAO with limited resources and a bounty on your head#and people will even say that the wardens aren't that necessary#and then you have hawke#who was literally a nobody

man. whenever i see someone discussing it/talking about liking it i feel myself Wanting to like. respect? extreme horror as a genre. more than i do. and i think my problem boils down to like. some of the places these things go.. you need to be a damn good writer, and you kinda need to make it have a Point or a Reason at least somewhat. you gotta be able to suspend your disbelief. that doesn't go any different for any flavor of horror than any other type of nonfiction writing tbh and in my opinion is generally harder to pull off. what happens does, in context, need to at least kinda sorta make a little bit of sense in some way and not be happening Just Because. and because of the rarity and stigma of extreme horror its less likely to qualify well for either of the above and just ends up attracting people who want to write some Really out there shit and get upset when they get justified critique from readers (usually people who bought their book and Enjoy extreme horror!) and always want to couch it like they're being oppressed for Writing which is a super disingenuous way to put it
#crow.txt#like i dont even find the genre unsalvageable or unforgivable#i havent ever come across anything i think i could read myself. just the things ive heard people talk about have been genuinely nauseating#but with some stuff and especially with some authors theres a pattern and a point at which its. very.#ok we get it you genuinely just wrote this to be edgy and complain when people dont agree completely with all your choices#its a really fine line but making it too off the wall/ridiculous/gross is just. so. wild to me. happens frequently.#extreme horror fans dont even seem to like it!#i was looking into summaries of a book called woom bc its the first thing thats hoved into my field of view in a while#and increasingly the more i found out abt im just sitting here like. ok why. what. this is like looney tunes if it was violent and gross#on purpose#the idea of these things happening individually is crazy. together its just kinda dumb and gross#seeing even one person say they felt like. connected to the characters is so wild to me bc it does not appear theres much. like. substance#+ feeling connected but not enough to want to read the sequel to see what happens is pretty telling lmao#you cant have extreme horror with No edgy shit but like. idk. its kinda clear when something has a Point and when something is shock value#hyperspecific genre doesnt make things more appealing to read or. like. easier to work into a plot if you don't have that skill#there almost seems to be an aspect of 'haha i tricked you into reading This gross shit' that is so hard to vibe with.#but mainly one author comes to mind#very difficult genre in general for many reasons but especially worse if you don't even have the backbone and self awareness to like#acknowledge it isn't for most people and like. act accordingly. ie when someone bitching about it online in public Just Shut Up#good advice for anyone that writes but like goddamn. authors here seem extra touchy sometimes. which feels weird bc you know what you wrote#like for reference ive read borrasca and think it was a really really good and grounded story. fucked up! extremely! it is ROUGH#and hard to recommend. for quite a few reasons. but like. i like to think i know what I'm talking abt at least a little#i wouldn't even consider it extreme horror but id argue it absolutely has elements. kinda a lot of em. especially if you count the followup#it takes a little too long to Get There and doesn't like. Sit In It. too heavily. the bad part is done pretty tastefully for what it is imo#and that is truly only because a very deep level of thought went into like. every aspect of it#you can tell when something has been carefully considered and crafted vs building the plane under them as it flew
