dont really feel like starting a conversation on the original post but i do think the "we could have gone to church at st judas the whatever" thing is unnecessary because in the end jesus didn't set any rules for who's a saint and who isn't so i don't give a shit about what anyone else says a saint is and i've been more moved by the miracle of betrayal than by 99% of the other real saints' miracles. saints bridge the (real or imagined) gap between you and god and that's what judas has done for me. so. yk. whatever. brb starting a church.

putting this into a separate post BUT here we go
as i've said before i try not to go too much in the religious direction for all my narnia overanalysis posts, but at a point it's hard not to just because of the symbolism that's included, so this post is going to be primarily religion-focused so feel free to skip this if you'd like!!
which apostle each of the pevensies represent and why:
lucy:
this one is a bit obvious, but lucy is quite obviously meant to be a representation of john the beloved apostle. john was the one who never wavered from jesus' side, who stayed with him through the entirety of his mission, who sat on his right side during the last supper, and who followed along the walk to calvary and was the only apostle to stay at the foot of the cross as jesus died.
at no point in the story does lucy's faith in aslan fail. she continues to believe that he will come and help everyone. she and aslan have the closes relationship, he calls her "dear one", she is his favorite child.
i do also think she could be a mix of john and andrew, as andrew was the first apostle called by jesus after his baptism, and he is the one who brought his brother peter to follow jesus, just as lucy was the first to enter into narnia, and she brought edmund in after her, and became the bridge between her siblings and aslan/narnia.
edmund:
in no way shape or form is edmund judas. he is completely and utterly meant to be simon peter, the apostle who denied jesus three times and then repented. peter was one of jesus' closest apostles, part of his inner circle along with james, john, and andrew. judas never sought forgiveness after he betrayed jesus, while peter did, confirming his love for jesus, which is what sets the two apart.
edmund betrays his siblings and aslan, but after his rescue speaks with aslan, and recieves forgiveness for what happened. he is changed after his experience, and follows aslan without question. he becomes a great figure, someone whose justice is respected by his kingdom. he more than proves himself to be loyal and caring towards his siblings, his kingdom, and aslan.
peter:
i fully believe peter is meant to be a representation of thomas, the apostle who doubted jesus' resurrection. thomas was one of jesus' apostle throughout his entire ministry, but missed the first appearance of jesus to his apostles after the resurrection. because of this, thomas refuses to believe in what has happened until he sees jesus, and when he does, he proclaims "my lord and my god".
this is moreso due to the fact that peter does not believe lucy when she says she saw aslan, and is completely convinced that they are alone when they return to narnia. peter loves aslan and believes in him, but does not truly believe he is there until he sees aslan before him.
susan:
okay so personally, i see susan as mary magdalene rather than one of the 12 apostles. mary magdalene, while being one of the main female disciples, was also one of the only people standing at the foot of the cross (she was there with mama mary, mary, the wife of clopas, and john the beloved). mary was also the first that jesus appeared to after his resurrection, and did not realize it was him until he said her name.
susan is the other one with lucy who is there when aslan dies. she's there when he comes back to life, and she is always portrayed as being right beside him with lucy. while lucy is aslan's favorite, susan is close behind. she holds a special place of importance, and though she falls away from narnia for a little while, i like to think that she has dreams of narnia, where aslan says her name and she remembers everything, and she knows she is welcomed and loved.
also i think susan and lucy are VERY martha and mary coded
bonus caspian:
he is so matthew!!!! the tax collector, the outsider of the group, a man who was heavily disliked by the people around him because of who he worked for and what he did.
caspian is part of a kingdom who hurt narnians, his uncle tried to wipe them out. he was seen as an outsider, only to become a great king of narnia and a trusted successor to the kings and queens of old.

My take on what the Pevensies' patronus/houses would be if they went to Hogwarts:
Tumblr media
Peter: Gryffindor, Lion
Tumblr media
I know this one seems obvious, but seriously. Peter was given a lot of responsibility from a young age, but he never once complained, instead taking to it graciously. He's a natural born leader, and his siblings and his subjects look up to him. He's fiercely protective of his siblings and will stop at nothing to keep them safe, including going up against a wolf to keep his little sisters safe despite his lack of training. He's brave, bold, often brash and impulsive, proud and stubborn, strong-willed and noble. He's also definitely got a soft side for his siblings, but them only, unless you're a close and dear friend like Tumnus and the Beavers. Lions are often called the "king of beasts," and Peter wasn't called "High King Peter the Magnificent" for nothing. Lions are brave, strong, noble, and leaders of their pride. They're also gentle with their cubs and teach and lead them just as lioness' do.
Susan: Ravenclaw/Slytherin, Doe
Tumblr media
I could see Susan being either. Susan isn't any less brave than her siblings, but she's clearly less impulsive and brash, instead preferring to strategize and think through her plan of attack as seen when she tells Peter not to charge the wolf on the river. She's intelligent and quick-witted and more grounded, as seen when she tells Peter that they should stop and think their actions through before crossing a potentially dangerous river. She's also ambitious and resourceful. You see this when she, when it becomes apparent that they're to remain in Narnia for the remainder of the war, immediately goes to practice with her bow. She, while a gentle and maternal queen, was quite influential and powerful in her own right. She never let anything stand in her way. The Doe patronus represents gentleness yet strong determination. Fiercely protective of her loved ones, as displayed through her caring and nurturing nature. With her high level of intuition and sensitivity, she battles life's challenges with the utmost grace and vigilance.
Edmund: Gryffindor/Slytherin, Tiger
Tumblr media
we all know his character was based off of Judas, and the tiger patronus represents a unique sense of courage and willpower, able to rise above conflicts and pass through all forms of adversity with grace and skill. They're highly protective and territorial, going to great lengths to defend their loved ones and home. Edmund, while certainly cunning and ambitious, is also brave and bold. He's often seen by Peter's side as they charge into battle, leading the troops alongside his brother. He helps others, and like Peter, is chivalrous as well. Like a Gryffindor, he's impulsive and brash, as seen when he jumps into a fight in the train station to help his brother, as well as when he confronts the white witch and breaks her staff in half leading to his stab wound. Like Slytherin, however, he's cunning, as seen when he manipulates Miraz into dueling Peter by toiling with his emotions and poking at his pride. He's misunderstood like a lot of Slytherins are, as well. I think he could be either.
Lucy: Gryffindor, Otter
Tumblr media
Lucy is 100% a Gryffindor, no doubt. I've seen a lot of people putting her in Hufflepuff, and while she is incredibly loyal and patient, she's incredibly brave and bold in her approach. She always puts others before herself and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty for a good cause. She's very skilled in sword fighting as well as archery, but she's also very kind and fair. As seen on the bridge where she stood off an entire army with only a dagger, she isn't afraid to tackle big challenges and has a need to prove herself, likely from being the youngest of four siblings. She's bold, as seen when she tells Peter that they're being too quick to fight. She speaks loud and proud about what she believes is right and will stand by her opinions. I think the Otter patronus suits her despite Aslan himself saying, "If she were any braver, she'd be a lioness," (which is also a clear indication of her Gryffindor spirit) because she's playful and curious. The Otter patronus represents life and purification, and we all know Lucy is pure and full of life. Otters are fearless and will pursue their curiosities as such. They're also associated with friendship, which I attribute to Lucy. She sees Narnians as her equals and has no trouble befriending new people/animals.

If any of them were to get TBoI:Repentance+ for some reason, which one of them (aside from Isaac for Obvious Reasons)
-would actually play the game
-would realize the game is about Isaac/a traumatized little boy (for those who don't know Isaac)
-That ???, Keeper, Forgotten, & Lost are the only characters not in their world (if they notice/search names)
-Realize the Delirium Ending + ^Dead Body Quartet implications
as well as other stuff they would be suspicious about, what would their reactions be?
Oooooh boy Anon, you have no idea what you made me remember. Anyway so.
I had an inside joke with a friend that tboi was a real thing in the RAUniverse because Edmund also existed and Eden was his friend (or at least his consultant or something). With Eden being an idiot who can't keep their mouth shut, Edmund would know allll about Isaac and the others, and while he didn't really 100% believe Eden's tall tales of reincarnations and past lives, he would still be inspired enough to make a game off of them. So yeah, Repentence+ could very well exist in my AU skdjhfshskdfj.
As for the questions I'll answer them in order. Who would actually play the game: I'd say definitely Azazel and maybe Jacob. Azazel likes playing videogames at home, so he'd get it on console, while Jacob is more of a PC player. And he prefers rpgs anyway, so he'd just be a casual player. As for the others, I think they'd all just be casual players? Maybe Eve would play it too, she also games sometimes... Bethany technically could play it too (Jacob has gifted her some of his older consoles) but she'd think it was too blasphemous, and she's more into cozy games lol.
Who would realize the game is about Isaac: definitely Maggie, Judas and Eve (they all know Isaac) and while the others might not know him (yet) they would be able to understand that the game's about a little boy who was severely traumatized. Maybe Lazarus wouldn't really get it at first - he's the type of person who would go "so it's all in his head? lame!" but that's bc he's not really a gaming type. Also if Cain knew that Eden had a hand in the game's creation he would immediately clock it as a story based on something real.
???, Keeper, Forgotten and Lost are not in their world: this is tricky! Because technically they do exist, but as Isaac's OCs. While he's working on commissions and whatnot he's also slowly making a comic called Babes in Deadland (which means I'm making a comic called Babes in Deadland lol) it's about the adventures of a bunch of dead kids in a cemetery/basement/thing, and the protagonists are none other than Blue Baby, Lost and Forgotten. And maybe even Keeper. I do have some designs for them already, but I've never found the energy to properly finish them. And I wanted them to be Ko-fi exclusive, so if you ever want to see Isaac's comics uuuuuh sign up for my Kofi idk. Anyway most characters, at this point in the story, don't really know of eachother's existence, so they wouldn't be really surprised to find character not directly related to biblical ones. After all it's just a game right?
Who would realize the Delirium ending + dead body quartet: Magdalene, definitely. She's quite creative and reeeeally loves thinking about media, I can totally see her and Eve theorizing about the game's meaning. They'd both be mad uncomfortable tho, since Isaac is Maggie's brother and Eve's best friend. If this was a normal game, Judas and Azazel would chime in with theories too and they'd all have a great time talking about it.

(top) Frodo, Sam, and Gollum at Mount Doom, by David Wenzel.
Gollum's final act, i.e., biting off the Ring and Frodo's finger and falling into the fire, is ironically both a betrayal and a service to Frodo. Gollum's intentions were not benign, and he cannot be acclaimed as the savior of the Ring Quest. The true saviors are pity and forgiveness. Without these, the quest was doomed to fail. Tolkien's message is that these benevolent virtues which enable the destruction of the Ring of Power are the same virtues [that] provide protection from greed, excessive pride, and uncontrollable lust for power.
David Waito, "The Shire Quest": The 'Scouring of the Shire' as the Narrative and Thematic Focus of The Lord of the Rings". Bolded emphases added.
Nor is it surprising that God works well even in the sins of men and women. After all, even the crime of Judas the traitor was used by Our Lord to achieve the salvation of the human race. But the difference is that when God brings something good out of anyone’s sin, it isn’t usually something that the sinner wants. It is not only that when he sins he does not sin with the same intention as God’s providence turning his sin to a just end - Judas, you see, did not betray Christ with the same intention as Christ Himself had in allowing Himself to be betrayed; it is also that when he realizes his sin has produced a better result which he never wanted to happen, it gives him more pain than pleasure.

All My Friends Are Going To Hell 1970's
We want to determine what we collectively think is the best year of music. Hellions are assigned a year and will pick 10 songs that they feel represent the best of that year.
The only rules are:
One song per artist per album. If the artist released multiple albums, and/or singles, you can pick them, but you can’t pick two songs from the same album.
The song has to have been released in the calendar year. This might sound obvious, but sometimes a song is released before the album, or, for example, the album comes out in 1990, but the single is released in 1991 (back when they used to do things like that).
Below are the songs selected for the 1970's and a google forms poll will be shared separately to rank and determine the "best" year of music.

The things I passionately fight for my life about on Reddit are so varied and interesting (according to me). Like I very much argue that Edmund Pevensie isn’t a symbol for Judas Iscariot. I’m just surprised to see a response that was upset. But come at me on that one. The reading of “He’s Judas” interprets this character through basic secular knowledge of the Bible rather than through more complicated theology, which is needed here because Lewis was a theologian.

She has a near photographic memory and loves working the bar because it gives her the most interaction with people. Of all of her siblings, she gets along best with Leora and would consider her her best friend.
She mostly lives in New York with her older sister, Raven, because of the school she wanted to attend. She spends all her holidays back home in Nevada and usually about every other weekend.

OC Name Meaning Tag
Thanks to @clairelsonao3 for tagging me! Although, I do feel bad as I just chose names I thought sound right for the character rather than diving into their meaning. It'll be an adventure for all of us. 😂
Tagging: @janec23, @can-of-pringles and anyone else who wants to join in! (please just make your own posts thanks!)
Juliana: Multiple origins are sighted for this one. There is the Latin iuvenis, meaning "youthful"; the Greek ioulos, meaning "downy-bearded"; or Jovis, a form of Jupiter, which means "sky father".
It is also the name of a saint Juliana of Nicomedia; the patron saint of sickness.
The only stretch I can think of is Juliana being tied to a feminine saint with possible orgins to the masculine, shape shifting Jupiter? IDK, debate in the comments.
Michael Finnegan: Finn is easy enough being of Irish origin meaning "fair". Finn specifically is an anglicized version of Fionn who is an Irish hero often translated as Finn McCool. I don't have enough room here to summarize who here is the wiki article on it.
Michael is a bit more interesting than I gave it credit for coming from Hebrew meaning "who is like God?"
Henry: German origin meaning “estate ruler” or “home ruler”
That almost feels too on the nose. Poor lad, or rather, not so poor lad.
Thomas: Aramaic origin meaning “twin”. According to nameberry.com;
“Thomas is the Greek variation of the Aramaic name Ta’oma’. It came about because there were too many apostles named Judas; Jesus renamed one Thomas—meaning "twin"—to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot and the Judas also known as Thaddeus. At first, it was used only for priests.”
Don’t know how it relates to anything, but here we are.
Gwendolen: Welsh origin meaning “white ring”. Possible origin in welsh mythology, specifically a moon goddess.
Ace icon? More research needed
Edmund: English origin meaning “fortune protector” or “rich protection”.
Apt considering his role in the story. Like Henry almost too on the nose, but I’m committed now.

All the turkish delight I've ever had is...pretty good. OP said it well, it's nice. But is it sell-your-family-to-a-witch nice? Of course not.
But see that's the point! Lewis was comparing Edmund's betrayal of his family for turkish delight to Judas's betrayal of Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. That equates to about $500 today. Is that amount of money nice? Yeah, I'd be very happy with it. But is it give-up-your-rabbi-to-be-executed nice? Of course not.
Lewis knew exactly what he was doing when he chose turkish delight. It is the 30-pieces-of-silver of desserts.
I have to endure this every time narnia is brought up as a topic of conversation, and no longer will I keep my silence. turkish delight is good, okay? turkish delight tastes like if starbursts cared. I distinctly remember being nine and one of my family members sending a box of it from abroad and being so happy that my mother had recently said I was allowed to make tea by myself now because it gave me reason to be in the kitchen alone to sneak a cube of that blessedly gelatinous sugary goodness while not under the gaze of prying eyes. it's good, okay? it's nice. it's a delight, even. hashtag edmund rights.

i love how the most complex and intriguing, not to mention emotionally charged relationship in narnia books is between edmund and jadis, the white witch. their interactions are thematically darkest considering the fact that it's mostly build on gaslighting, lies and emotional manipulation. the fact that younger readers may potentially see edmund as a traitor and "the worst sibling" and then adult readers spot right away how he's the victim of her schemes is kind of sad and brilliant at the same time. i think c.s lewis didn't really intend for this to be so fascinating yet it is!!
