#oneforthedrummers One hi-hat effect I have always enjoyed is the upbeat disco sound. I was originally taught this style (back in the early eighties #thanksbobnutt) with the cymbals struck with the stick on the + notes of 1+2+3+4+ and immediately opened with the foot. This was then closed on the quarter-notes. You can see me start to play this effect on the chorus of this clip from a recent #Jadi rehearsal. However, recently I have found it easier and more flowing to play all eight notes instead of just the + notes.
