I have just finished Chapter 10 of Northanger Abbey. Some thoughts:

I kind of wish I had read this book first out of Jane Austen’s works, if only because I would have related to Catherine more

since I’m mostly familiar with Pride and Prejudice and Emma and Persuasion, and a little knowledgeable of Sense and Sensibility, (I have yet to even touch Mansfield yet, I am so sorry) I was immediately like what the heck do you mean Catherine’s got a brother

who is this man?? what is he doing here???

I’ve read too many P&P fics,,, the state of being brotherless is just so ingrained into the story conflicts and character dynamics in my head, whoops

Mr Thorpe was annoying from the first, and he has only gotten on my nerves even more (and do I smell a fortune hunter??)

Isabella is also hmm

at first I was leery of her and Catherine’s friendship because of how she’s older and more polished; I was sceptical of the sincerity of how quickly they seemed to get attached

also I get the vibe that she’s hiding something from Catherine (has she met Tilney before…?)

but if she’s really James’s love interest, then I see her as more harmless; more of a disappointment, less of a threat, I guess?

still absolutely relieved Catherine’s not overly attached to her now though

Miss Tilney intrigues me

I like her so far

might be my favourite character but we’ll see we’ll see

Mr Tilney also intrigues me but less decisively of a favourable bent

I’m kinda suspicious but idrk why

tryna withhold judgement since he hasn’t actually done anything sus yet (that I can think of)

plus I genuinely enjoy his and Catherine’s tête-à-têtes

so mostly on the fence

I am most curious about General Tilney, idk why but he is piquing my interest

the exposition about the late Mrs Tilney seems very deliberate

the whole family is just intriguing I s’pose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

loving the writing, unsurprisingly

I put off Northanger for a long time because I hadn’t expected it to be as lighthearted as it is due to some reviews I’d read but

there do be plenty of funny parts

and of course Miss Austen’s characteristic wit is ubiquitous <3

If Keaton were to think about his ideal man, he might be... tall, with black hair, with an unconditional love for his family, hot brown eyes... okay, yes, like Daniel Taylor. The first time Keaton saw the man was during his appearance on Jupiter York's bachelorette show, and when found out he would have his own show, Keaton tried to apply. Unfortunately, all the slots were filled and he was put on a provisional "just in case" list, whatever that means. Keaton returned to his ranch and forgot about it. Until now, at least, when the production made him an unexpected offer he couldn't refuse.

Keaton was born and raised in Chestnut Ridge. He met Margaret, or Maggie as everyone calls her, when he was in school and they had a huge friendship that turned into something more at prom. Keaton wasn't interested in a college degree; he just wanted to run his family's ranch so he did that after highschool. Unfortunately for him, he also discovered his interest was in guys rather than girls just when Maggie told him she was pregnant. He married her out of duty, but was absolutely honest from the start, and from that moment on Maggie became his best friend. She has been his biggest support over the years, and they both worked together to raise their daughter Lara. But Maggie fell in love and remarried, leaving Keaton alone with his ranch. He thought being a rancher would be enough for him, and it was... for a few years at least, but not anymore.

Some facts about Keaton:

He cut his hair just for the casting, as his ex-wife assured him that his normally messy look wouldn't get him a spot on the show.

When he saw on TV what happened with Julian and Julien, a small part of Keaton had hopes that maybe they would open up more slots for other participants, but he didn't allow himself to really think about it until the production called him saying there was a place for him.

Keaton divorced three years ago, but he has an excellent relationship with his ex-wife and her new husband as well.

His greatest pride is his 16-year-old daughter, Lara.

The hardest part of all this has been leaving his beloved horse on the ranch, but Keaton trusts that Lara and Maggie will take care of her in his absence.

this is from a wip affectionately titled ‘angst fic,’ a post s6 fic in a world where eddie and buck have known for years the potential of what their relationship could become, yet buck starts dating natalia anyway. eddie handles this, how do you say, uhhh, badly. 😁

Eddie’s about to slump onto the couch, crack open a beer, and start a trashy reality show when his front door opens. Frozen between his living room and dining room, Eddie stares at Buck as he steps inside.

He’s still wearing what he likely wore on his date with Natalia, and he looks unfairly good in a pair of snug black jeans and that checkered jacket he’s been favoring recently. His hair is styled effortlessly with the same pomade he recommended to Eddie after he cut his hair short—every time Eddie uses it, he feels a tiny thrill that he smells like Buck, that they smell like each other.

“Uh,” Eddie says when Buck doesn’t say anything immediately. “Hi?”

“Hey,” he replies, shutting the door behind him. “The boys already asleep?”

“If your jeep didn’t wake them up, then yeah,” Eddie says before he can stop himself, wincing internally at his accusatory tone. “They’re in the backyard.”

Buck nods, shoulders hunching as he shoves his hands into his jacket pockets. He lowers his eyes, not meeting Eddie’s gaze.

This is the moment when Eddie would offer him a beer and a spot on his couch. Instead of asking what Buck wants to watch the way he usually would, he asks, “What are you doing here?”

Buck barely has to twitch his shoulders into a shrug, considering how close they are to his ears already. “If I couldn’t help with the sleepover, I thought I could at least be here to listen to you vent. If you—if you want to.”

Eddie has the abrupt and sudden urge to bite through his own tongue. For reasons that he still can’t parse out, Buck is determined to act like nothing has changed between them, like he still wants to give Eddie his unwavering friendship when Eddie isn’t feeling quite as charitable. Like he can waltz into his house at 11pm on a Friday night and pretend that his lips aren’t kiss bitten from lips that aren’t Eddie’s.

I was tagged by @sflow-er , actually started answering a few days ago but run out of time. So now I have some time to kill, so let's try another time.

Do you make your bed?

Yes, it is an attempt I am actually allowed to call myself a functioning adult 😂.

What's your favourite number?

I don't have one, but my parents love the number 9, so I basically decided this is a family tradition now.

What is your job?

Nope, for one my job is actually not that easy to explain, even in person. Second, I don't share personal information on my public Tumblr account. My two Tumblr friends (you know who you are) can ask me though, in case they are interested.

If you could go back to school, would you?

Fun fact, ppl always assume I was an amazing student. I was not... sadly I am lazy AF, surprised I actually have a Master degree and I always hated studying. I am very much a learning -by-doing person.

Can you parallel park?

I mean, I have a driver license, so at one point I could 😝. Serious answer, I sold my car a couple of years ago, so I very rarely drive a car. Ask me again in September, as I have a road trip ahead of me then.

A job you had that would surprise people?

Mmh, nothing really comes to mind tbh. In terms of work I don't think I did anything particularly exciting.

Do you think aliens are real?

Are we alone in the universe? No, absolutely not. However what kind of life exists and how advanced they are, that is a totally different conversation. I don't believe we are getting visited or abducted.

What's your guilty pleasure?

If it brings me joy, I don't define it as a guilty pleasure, as long as it doesn't interfere with life, friends or family. Maybe I am abusing way too much time at work to write comments for my fav fics or writing novels back to friends.

Tattoos?

No, because I know myself and I will get tired of anything I could get. But I understand why ppl love them because there are some very cool and amazing tattoos (but also gotta say, I find most tattoos very underwhelming or even ugly and I am surprised why ppl get them in the first.place. But those opinions I always, always keep to myself).

Favourite colour?

Blue was always my colour since I was a little girl and it also looks best on me. I love green and altrosa too though.

Favourite type of music?

I suck when it comes to music. I always listen to some random Spotify lists and generally have no idea what is happening in the world of music or particularly care.

Do you like puzzles?

I don't remember the last time I did one... guess that is answer enough.

Any phobias?

I HATE needles. I needed to get a lot of vaccinations last year, I survived, but it really was not my favorite past time. At least the employees at the doctor all complimented me for still being mature enough to take my health seriously 😂.

Favourite childhood sport?

I was the WORST cheerleader in existence, but I loved it 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Do you talk to yourself?

Lol, i am a very chatty person (IF I like you. ironically I can also be very quiet), of course I talk to myself.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy has such a special place in my heart and they better never remake it.

Both, at home and work it is coffee. when I am visiting my parents, I am always drinking tea. but I like both a lot.

Lol, a FARMER. The idea is from beginning to end HILARIOUS.

I am German, it is in my DNA 😂. ask me driving the first time an automatic car though. Now that was an experience.

2. How did you get the idea to write this?

because i love love love the trope of "oh no this person is suffering an abnormal cold! lets get naked to warm them up so they dont get hypothermia!" it is SO self indulgent its just so funny to me. but on a serious note, considering alan got the aw2 suit on the dark place which is in itself a dark ocean i really liked the image of alice and barry peeling away his suit (a physical manifestation of the dark place sticking to his skin) and them (the two people he loves most in the world) being the ones who warm him up 🥰🥰🥰

(also ive been wanting to draw this scenario since last december but drawing three people in the same pic is just too hard 😭)

there is angst for sure, you still have alan's spiraling thoughts and guilt and at least him and barry cry a healthy amount, but its got soooo much fluff too bc im Such a CHEESY person (◡‿◡✿)
