hi darlings! i hope the new year has started out nicely for you. always remember to take care of yourself, and that i am here to offer support and advice!
in this reading, i am going to be doing exactly that – offering some advice and recommending some resolutions for the new year. if you choose to follow any of these, please be kind to yourself and understand that it's okay to be inconsistent, bored or forgetful. i know i am all of those, so know that you are not alone in this!
take a deep breath and focus on your goals for the new year. then, pick a pile intuitively.
! for entertainment purposes only!
! constructive criticism and feedback are welcome!
! decks used: rider waite tarot deck, mermaid tarot, astrological oracle cards!
pile 1
(cards: eight of cups rx, judgement, ace of swords, ten of cups rx, the tower, death rx, pluto)
hello pile 1, how are you guys doing? 2023 is going to be a very eye opening year for you. i feel like you have struggled with the relationships in your life a lot, so this year will be all about learning how to maneuver situations that arise within those relationships, and when to know it's time to leave.
you have a very interesting approach to the people around you. sometimes, the smallest things make you want to leave them behind, have a glowup, and forget they existed. you have an "i don't need them" attitude, since you have survived so much, and you choose to cut people off because of it. other times, you stay and endure things and situations that harm you, mentally and emotionally, just to keep that one dear person in your life. it must have been exhausting doing that, but trust me, it'll be so healing to work on it this year.
especially when it comes to the people who have hurt you and are still in your life, make sure to sit with yourself and let the memories of the things they have done really occupy your brain. it's not going to be a pleasant experience, but it's needed for you to judge how exactly they have acted, their possible motives, and why they still are in your life. relationships demand communication and understanding, but if that person offers neither, why are they still around you? think about why you keep them close, what would happen if you let them go, and try to judge everything as objectively as possible.
there will be moments within the year when you will feel more clear-headed, better at discerning lies, and will reach a point where you will know if a person entered your life just to teach you a lesson – and what that lesson is. get ready for the process to be turbulent, letting go is not an easy task, especially when everything is happening inside you, and you are the one who needs to take the first step.
in order to overcome your obstacles, recognise your trauma and the root of the issues you face in relationships: where it comes from inside you, when it happened, how it now translates itself into behavioural patterns and your relationship style. learn how you love and ask people to love you the way you want, don't be scared to be alone, look into things that interest you, no matter how taboo or unconventional they may seem.
thank you for reading!
pile 2
(cards: queen of pentacles, king of cups rx, ten of swords rx, the sun, the hugh priestess, the hierophant rx, luna)
hello pile two, i hope you're doing well! so, 2023 is going to be a year when you'll chase your happiness. you got the sun card, so i really don't think there is much else to add, other than the fact that it'll be full of you achieving your goals.
when it comes to resolutions, i belive going after what you want academically will help you a lot. deciding how many hours a week you want to study, having a healthy school or job schedule, working towards your hobbies with a calculated approach rather than "just doing them". for example, if you like to dance as a hobby, don't limit yourself to specific moves or styles. expand, try new things, maybe even look up some classes you could take and give yourself a gift. invest your money in a way that makes you happy, not in the way your parents, or the people around you did.
and, i think you doing your own thing and healing from certain experiences will be a huge theme for you this year. so, set the resolution to do whatever you want with your things, as long as you know that you can a) afford it and b) fix it if it goes badly. if you want to paint on your walls, for example, make sure that you can cover up the paint to the original color if you're renting the place you live in, so you don't face trouble with your landlord. study different languages, invest in the things you love instead of what you think you should, expand your horizons. listen to the music you want, go to the places you want, decorate the way you want. some of you may be moving out of your parents' place this year, so some doubt and uncertainty may arise. don't let it consume you, and start living by your own rules.
i also see that you have been ignoring your spiritual side and trusting your intuition less. so, make it a goal in 2023 to trust your gut feelings more, and try to communicate with your spiritual team. get into divination, astrology, palmistry – whatever inspires you, truly, or return to it if you've set it aside. don't deem yourself overly emotional or irrational; trust the feelings you get, the things you see. it's very easy for us to get lost in every day life so much that we ignore our spiritual sides and needs. if you're a tarot reader, do a reading for yourself. communicate with your guides a bit, tell them hello.
the energy you should channel in order to overcome your obstacles this year is secretive, alone. don't share your plans with people unless you're sure you want to pursue them, keep your friends close, wear an evil eye, or whatever makes you feel protected. don't live your 2023 in paranoia, but don't be as open as you used to. when adversity comes, listen to good music, and use the hours of the night to relax – whether that means taking a bath, basking in the moonlight, or sleeping until the next morning.
thank you for reading!
pile 3
(cards: the hierophant, the lovers rx, the high priestess, ace of wands, the chariot, five of swords rx, gemini)
hello pile 3, how are you today? so, your 2023 seems to be very interesting in terms of self improvement and getting everything sorted. you may be an overthinker so let's take this one step at a time and set some very clear goals for this year!
first things first, you will need to make the distinction between when you're using your intuition, and when you're letting past trauma take over. did that person really hurt you or are you just afraid that the little thing they did is the beginning of a cycle of hurt, so you cut them off instead of communicating? do you actually have a bad feeling about this situation, or does it just involve you being out of your comfort zone for a prolonged amount of time? try to distinguish when each feeling is speaking and don't lie to yourself – that will only make the situation worse. if you're unsure, especially in the beginning, you can ask for help and guidance from your spirit guides. they are here to help you, after all, so don't hesitate to reach out.
for those of you who aren't in a romantic relationship, focus on yourself this year. set a "self love" resolution, whether that is establishing a morning or night routine that relaxes you, working out, studying for the things you're passionate about, getting a promotion at your job, whatever makes you feel loved and appreciated as you are. do not pressure yourself, especially if you decide to start working out. consistency is key, but each person is different, with different schedules and different needs. working out once a week is just as good as working out once a month, as long as that is your goal. don't push yourself into romantic situations just because you're seeking that feeling in your life. everything will turn out fine, just make this year all about you.
for those of you in a relationship, establish a personality different from your partner's. what i mean by that is, you're your own person. you were your own person before you met your s/o and you will continue being your own person for the duration of your relationship and even after it, if that time ever comes. do not give up on your dreams just because of this person being in your life right now. the best example i could think about is person a getting into a specific college and person b (you, in this example) trying to get into the same college to be with them, even if they don't like the courses or area. just. just don't. look out for yourself more than anyone else.
lastly, take up a new hobby. if there's something you've been meaning to do for a while, or if you are discovering new things you want to delve into, go ahead and do it! being passionate about something is one of life's fewest small joys. don't let it slip through your fingers without chasing after it first.
the energy you need to channel in order to overcome your obstacles this year is communicative, social, and fun. don't take yourself too seriously. laugh at your mistakes, use your intellect to get over them, utilise your wit and quick thinking to ho forward. communicate your issues, ideas, and knowledge with the ones around you. express yourself creatively.
thank you for reading!

so i just read two souls, converging and i think i'm chronically insane now. i read building up like waves (love the ts title btw) a few days ago and absolutely loved it. read it, all 65k, in one sitting. but i think two souls rewired my brain cells. permanently altered my brain chemistry. their fight and make-up/getting together had be one the edge of my seat. i think i've reread that one scene like 7 times in the past hour. the way you handled albus loneliness had me IN TEARS. albus relationship with james was so sweet. i think its rare in fics for albus and james to have a healthy sibling relationship and its honestly so sad. they need each other.
i read something the oracles did not foresee when it came and i thought that was the best scorbus fic i'd ever read and then building up like waves came out proving me wrong and so i've spent the last few days reading your backlog. i saved two souls, converging for last since it was labeled unfinished but god i wished i read it when you posted it. my life will forever be better with this fic in my life. thank you thank you thank you
ugh anon this is just about the sweetest thing anyone has ever sent to me 🥹 thank you soooo much for reading everything and being so kind about it.
I’m so sorry two souls is still unfinished I’m a terrible little writer and haven’t had time to finish it but I love that fic so much too and I promise a resolution is on the horizon hahah. it’s currently sat at a lot of words on my desktop - it will definitely come eventually.
but really thank you so much you don’t know how much this message has made my day 🫶🏻
#like with the Week I am having#this genuinely made me tear up 💀#thank youuu thank you thank you beloved anon whoever you are#but also I’m so sorry you had to read the 2016-18 fics if you really did read my entire back catalogue LOL#anon#beloved anon

"🪓 - Was the Butcher Army justified in hunting down Technoblade?"
Oof, this is one that I might have a legit kinda controversial take on?? So thanks for potentially signing my death warrant, @oraclemilf. /j
Obligatory disclaimer that this is all /rp! I'm talking about the characters on Dream SMP unless stated otherwise! And this is all in good think-y fun! This is all just my opinion on a silly Minecraft roleplay! :)
TL;DR: I think it was justified for the Butcher Army to arrest and try Technoblade for his actions on November 16th (regardless of him “retiring from violence” after the fact). However, I believe the way they went about doing so was unethical and the fact they never intended to give him a proper trial was 100% unjust.
Wordy version under the cut:
So, in all honesty, I have conflicting feelings on Techno's execution and how the Butcher Army treated him? Because I do consider what Techno did on November 16th (summoning two Withers and setting off more TNT) to be terrorism and a betrayal. I think he and Pogtopia betrayed each other because they had god awful communication regarding their disparate goals from the moment Techno joined them. My understanding of the situation was/is: Wilbur told Techno they needed to take down Schlatt >> Techno took that to mean Pogtopia wanted to take down the government as a whole and agreed to help >> Wilbur (and the others) never clarified that they only wanted to get rid of Schlatt and that they were planning on reinstating the previous L'manberg government after winning >> Techno never picked up on Pogtopia's actual goals >> Techno felt betrayed on November 16th and attacked a newly formed New L'manberg with Withers.
The difference between the two betrayals though, is that Pogtopia's was an ideological betrayal that, realistically, would've had zero affect on Techno's life. Meanwhile, Techno's betrayal was very tangible. He caused a lot of physical damage and killed multiple people in the process. One of these things is an, admittedly, shitty thing to do to a friend and ally, but the other is literal terrorism.
The other thing that's usually brought up in Techno's defense (including by both Techno and Phil on December 16th and during Doomsday) is that Techno had "retired from violence" following November 16th. Which is nice, but the thing is Techno had already committed the crimes he was being arrested for. If you were to murder someone, you can't just get out of being tried for that murder because you don't do any more murders after? That's just... not how consequences work? Even on Dream SMP. And, beyond that, it's important to note that—until they actually trekked out to Techno's cabin to carry out the arrest—New L'manberg had no idea Techno had sworn off violence.
All of that in mind, I think it's completely reasonable for New L'manberg to see Techno as a threat to their country's security and for them to "bring him to justice" for his actions on November 16th.
Where my sympathies waver is in how they proceeded to do so.
First off, they very unnecessarily trashed Phil's house while searching it. Albeit, I do think it was fair for them search it in the first place since, from their perspective, Phil was aiding and abetting a wanted criminal. (And, unfortunately, due to being just a Minecraft roleplay server, there's no such thing as a search warrant on Dream SMP. :/) I also think it’s fair that Phil was placed under house arrest after they found undeniable evidence that he was doing just that.
But, by far the worst thing the Butcher Army did—that I absolutely cannot defend and am making no effort to—is that they tried to execute Techno without giving him a fair trial. And the only reason they weren't successful was because Techno had a Totem of Undying. Granted, I don't think a trial would've made the outcome any different, but it was a really bad call all the same.
Now, the issue gets messy on who specifically is at fault for that happening. Dream and Punz's interruption might’ve been at least partly to blame for it? But, even then, just before Tubbo’s speech, when Techno questioned the legitimacy of the trial, Quackity point-blank said, in front of everyone, “There is not going to be a trial, Technoblade. We are going to kill you.” And Tubbo added, “This is an execution.” [Techno’s POV @ 50:03] (Although, cc!Tubbo has since retconned it so that c!Tubbo didn't know that there wasn't going to be a trial? But I’ll leave it up to you whether you accept that or not.)
But the point is: at least Quackity, but also probably Tubbo and Fundy, were never planning to give Techno an actual trial—regardless of other circumstances. Which, in my opinion, is not only unjust but, frankly, immoral.

WHEN HEARTS DROP WITH RAIN DROPS
pairing. jay x reader
genre + themes. fluff, soulmate!au, colleagues-to-lovers, office romance!au, fortune-teller!sunghoon.
wc. 8, 943 k / warn. cursing, food mentioned.
requested by anonymous <3 thank you for requesting and hope you liked it!
synopsis — when sunghoon foresaw meeting his soulmate under the rain, jay passed it off as another random intuition his friend seemed to have; sometimes they did happen, sometimes they didn't happen at all. what he didn't expect was the way sunghoon was right this time and the way he played right into it just by wanting to test the oracle
yunan says. i love this request. i began writing immediately but got stuck in between, we pulled through with the help of beta readers @hyukaas & @enloveclub. reblogs and comments are appreciated!
ANY MOMENT MIGHT BE OUR FIRST.
Blowing the heat evaporating off his fresh cup of coffee; the third one today as his friends came one by one to the lunch break offered by the company. A smile graces his lips as his colleagues wish him a great lunch and congratulate him on his five times bestseller award now. After getting five awards, it doesn't stay as exciting.
“Coffee again?” Jungwon asks, furrowing his brows and sliding onto the leather couch he sat on.
“I worked overtime yesterday,” he explains, eyeing the other two who join almost immediately after and he chugs the whole drink down, blinking at the trio who just began eating. “Did the deadline end well in design?” he asks, crossing his arms on the table.
“Let's not talk about work,” Sunghoon shakes his head with a mischievous grin, “I had a prophecy dream again,” he adds, perking Jake's attention immediately and Jungwon snaps his fingers, “Yes! it's been a while,” he cheers.
Since they normally sit in a corner with two walls on their sides, Sunghoon doesn't worry about anyone eavesdropping and begins his retelling, “I saw Jay… Ummm.. he had his work ID on, so it probably happened in the office or during work hours,” Sunghoon pauses, churning his face trying to remember the details.
The air from the air conditioning directly above the group sets the air with a cold curiosity and Jay sighs, his name usually doesn't come up in the weird intuitive dreams Park Sunghoon has but whenever they did, Sunghoon said Jay is the catalyst that allows them to form in reality. Sunghoon's grandmother—an actual fortune-teller reinforces the same accusations saying that's why his predictions always come true even though all things foresaw only have a fifty-fifty chance of occurring.
“Oh! soulmate — Jay, you will meet your soulmate in the rain… uh I don't know how or when but it'll rain and your soulmate will be there for the first time!” Sunghoon spurts jolting on his chair and Jake gasps, widening his eyes at the mentioned person, “No way, Jay's stuff always happens. We need to keep an eye out because it's the rainy season alright!”
Jay scoffs, crossing his arms and says, “You know that it could have already happened? I’ve met like so many new people in the rain recently,”
“Sure everyone says 'Excuse me, Mr Park?' in this building when they see you but not everyone will have whatever your response is — maybe you really will meet your soulmate soon,” Jungwon reasons, playing with his leftover veggies in the stew he chowed down while Sunghoon was thinking.
Jake takes a bite from his sandwich and speaks, “I — don't know but… Won is right. You probably said something weird now because you will suspect everyone in the rain now,”
“That's not fair. What if it’s actually weird now and I just don't talk? What if they have no words on their body and think that they have no soulmate and are a very sensitive, broken person — woah, in the big picture, Sunghoon just destroyed someone's life by making the decision to tell me this,”
“I knew you were dramatic,” Jungwon smiles, standing up from his seat. “But you add the drama in dramatic,” he rolls his eyes walking away from the table and Sunghoon nods, “You can't blame me for being overdramatic,”
“Yeah… I'll do whatever I want,” Jay responds weakly, Jake pats his shoulder and they all leave him.
Now alone with his mind, he thinks, ‘any moment might be our first.’ In a world where your soulmates are always just existing until they appear in front of you and utter the words that are tattooed on the spot, they will first touch you; Park Jay believes any moment might be your first meeting and always works towards being ready for it when it happens. The confidence he has built over the years, the aura of dominance he likes to think he has mastered and the skill to remain composed even if the love of his life appears — he wants to think he is prepared to meet his soulmate no matter the situation.
They say that even if they were chosen for you, you do fall in love with them first.
Before the words they utter are recognised as your soulmate marks; you fall in love. He doesn't understand how that works if it isn't a case of love at first sight for everyone but he doesn't question it. So far, love has been a thing he hasn't wanted if it wasn't from his soulmate, someone who is supposed to accept him in all the ways and he knows, he has moulded himself to be perfect for anyone at first sight but his soulmate is the person who is meant to stay even when he drops his façade.
“Excuse me, Mr Park?” he jumps at the words that tumble down the lips of his co-worker.
“Y-yes,” Jay smiles, so much for perfect composure and stands up from the leather couch, raising his brows at the worker. “How can I help?”
“The new employee has been hired, the HR team is looking for you,” they inform him and he thanks them, letting them leave before groaning at himself for still being in the cafeteria when everyone already left to continue their work.
Working as the head of the HR department of his company, Jay has come across all of the employees who joined the company after him. His friends were also probably approved by him before joining the company and it's honestly one of the worst things he has to do as the head of HR, which is why his secretary does the hiring and he does the approval as soon as it's done.
“Miss Choi, where are the résumes?” Jay chimes in from the connected home line phones, “I would like to see your picks,”
“One second, sir,” she replies, beeping her line out and Jay signs, leaning back on his swirly chair.
Soon after though, the sound of the email notification ping alerts him and he sits straight clicking on the inbox with his secretary on the very top with the words, new hires for Assistance HR Manager post.
“Only three, Miss Choi?” he asks pressing the interface for confirmation and she nods, which he makes out from the semi-glazed glass of his office, “Yes, sir,”
“Thank you then, you can continue with your previous engagement,”
EVERYTHING BECOMES BEAUTIFUL WHEN IT'S IN THE RAIN.
Pursing his lips, his eyes linger outside the window of his fifth-floor office; it's been raining for a week now and the question that hasn't left his mind since is where his soulmate might be. There were only so many new faces he sees every day, just outside the corporate building but so far, they have all occurred before the rain began and he finds himself wondering again, where his soulmate might be if it was him not giving them a chance.
Park Jay hasn't stepped outside in the rain the entire time because he feels as if the meeting would be manufactured if he really did meet his one and only while waiting for them.
“Excuse me, Mr Park?” jolting off his swivel chair, Jay snaps looking upwards to meet your eyes.
As the new employee, you always carried yourself with a sense of anonymity. But somehow, Jay could still feel a warm presence that was very you when you scared him half to death because of that smile, the almost playful half-smirk that graces your face whenever he meets your gaze after a shock. He thinks you deliberately walk with twinkle feet to scare him but he knows he isn't an easily startled person, he couldn't figure out why you always catch him off guard.
Giggling gently, you place a blue file on his table. “Head in the clouds again, Mr Park?” you tease, bending ever so slightly and opening the file.
“I was just admiring the rain,” he shakes his head, gulping the awkwardness that built in his throat and sitting straight. “What is this?”
“The three expats who filed a complaint are still facing problems with their license approval — I tried talking to the person in the foreign affairs department but they are not responding,” you explain, blinking at him and stiffening your hands to your sides. “What should I do?”
Jay sighs ruffling his hair and missing the way your eyes stray away from him, inhaling sharply and he exhales closing the file, “I will deal with this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, you can leave now—” clearing your throat hesitantly, “Um, before that…” you interrupt, tilting to the side a little and locking eyes with him.
“Would you like having lunch with me and the rest? I heard you stayed overtime again?”
Jay feels his heart flutter; pursing his lips inwards, he hums, hiding a smile and nods, rubbing his hands together and standing up. “Sure!” he nods sharply and you smile, tying your hands together, looking away from him, “Let’s go then — My favourite spot might get taken,” you walk away hurriedly, your heart is a mess.
You didn’t know your superior would be this hot, when you started applying you expected to be working under a forty-year-old who gives you petty tasks but Park Jay took your heart in a zip, his eyes on you double-taking your appearance and running you through your responsibilities working directly under him and his assistant. You thought he was a bit cold at first but as soon as lunchtime rolled around on the first day and you spotted him in the cafeteria, resting his head on another co-worker's shoulder and whining about something bothering him, he quickly plastered himself in the front of your mind and you want to know more about him.
His good looks aside, you found his proneness to dazing away when he is free too adorable.
“Jake!” you wave upon reaching the cafeteria and sighting the puppy-like coworker who perks up at his name, “Hey!” he replies, gapping when he notices the man beside you.
“Jay — you’re here too!” Jungwon greets, slinging his arm around the said man and guiding him to their usual table but Jay halts, clearing his throat, “Ah… I am... um, having lunch with—”
“I am stealing Mr Park today,” you grin, pausing beside him and blinking at the younger male who gapes looking from Jay to Jake, sluggishly throwing his hand to his mouth and you laugh, “Come on, then” Jay rolls his eyes, pushing the boy off him and you nod, watching Jake and Jungwon huddle together, staring at the two of you.
“That’s new,” Jake remarks, crossing his arms and his eyes linger on you as you pull the chair by the window and Jay sits in front of your seat. “Since when were they close?”
Jungwon nods, mirroring his friend and echoing, “Since when were they close—” he shakes his head and hisses, “ Jay doesn’t hang out with the girls in the office. Why would he make an exception wi—”
“Who is Jay with?” Sunghoon interrupts, sitting in between the curious duo, puckering out his lower lips with a look of shock on his face. Sunghoon eyes the two others and shrugs, “Nevermind that. I had another dream and Jay is so meeting his soulmate in the rain and it’s going to be,”
“I don’t want to know about that. I want to know why Park Jay is not having lunch with us,” Jungwon narrows his eyes, crossing his arms and legs. “What if that’s his—” “We said he’ll meet his soulmate in the rain,”
It was a known fact between the boys that Jay had an aversion towards women because they keep trying to touch his soulmate mark to test whether he was theirs or not; it lead to him wearing his sleeves down even on hot days because the words are tattooed along his forearm, in a way that seems as if he gets grabbed or something. Seeing him having lunch with you is a surprise when they consider he has been coping up alone in his office for the past two days as well.
The rain trickles down the glass pane in front of you, your eyes attached to the man beside you who absentmindedly watches the rain and you wonder, what is so interesting about the rain? It’s been the same for a week now and every time you find him free, he is occupied by it. The food you had grabbed before sitting was already in your stomach, while Jay still hadn’t finished his. “Are you going to finish that?” you startle him, shaking himself from his thoughts.
“Yes. I w-will,” he stammers, shaking his head sideways again and you sigh softly, you don’t think he knows he is saying no with his head.
“Do you like the rain?” you ask, leaning on your elbow and twisting your torso to face him properly. “No, not particularly,” he shakes his head, taking a bite from his sandwich.
“Then why do you watch it so much?” you blink, skimming the cafeteria and leaning closer.
Jay hums, moving backwards and you smile at him closing the space again, “Someone said something weird about the rain…” he trails, his cheeks glowing and your chest squeezes as you churn your face, you bite down your lips from grinning too much and hum, “Hmm, so you’re the type to get bothered by conversations — I didn’t take you for someone so sensitive,”
Hissing defensively, he shakes his head and said, “I am not usually. But you know when this friend is like a clairvoyant — what he says, happens,” Jay sighs locking gazes with you and he adds, “The rain is part of the equation,”
“Oh that's fun,” you said, blinking at him as you nod. “The rain makes everything beautiful though. I thought you were thinking the same,” you said and to be honest, while not always true you think that the rain did make everything prettier under its hazy weather and dream-like after effect.
“You aren't wrong — right now, the rain makes my heart a mess,” he chuckles and you inhale sharply, staring at him for a minute. Man, if he wasn't your superior, you would’ve tried to snag him as soon as possible.
Sighing, you try to calm your beating heart and say, “Everything becomes beautiful under the rain, moving your eyes away from him and you stand up teasingly smiling at him, “Even you.”
Jay blinks as he watches you take your waste and throw it in the trash bin before walking away from him. Leaving him completely stunned at your comment. His heart is hammering in his chest and he feels his rib cages shaking as well, his stomach almost hollow and hurling with a weird sense of abysmal depth that sends a wave of heat towards his head, making him feel a tad bit dizzy. Coughing onto his fist, Jay shakes his head and fans his face. His eyes blinking at the slowly emptying cafeteria and leaves, his head was too fuzzy to focus on anyone else right now because your words were echoing in his head with your teasing grin, “Even I look beautiful in the rain? What the hell is that supposed to mean?” he mumbles.
“Yeah, who even says stuff like that anymore?” Jungwon startles him and he curses out of his ass in incoherent words, the younger man gapping at him, shocked, “Chill, yo,” he said, patting his back as he shakes his head.
“Why would you scare me like that,” “I didn’t. You are just very spacey right now,”
Jay sighs, nodding. “You’re right.”
“So what’s up?” Jungwon asks, pressing the elevator’s button and tucking his hand into his slack’s pocket, blinking at Jay.
“Um, nothing. I just think I am either being played or hit on—”
Jungwon waves his hand in front of him with an amused smile, “Woah, again?” he asks.
“Stop.” Jay rolls his eyes, entering the elevator as it pings open and his friend follows, as he said, “This is different. She hasn't touched me yet. That means she isn't after finding out if we are soulmates.”
It had always been a thing of concern for him, who decides who is whose soulmate. Was it just that your bodies reacted to the soulmate marks or was it really the fact that you chose to love each other? It scared Jay that he could spend his forever with someone he met at work who tried to find out if he was theirs. “That's hot. For you at least,” Jungwon pursues his lips out impressively and steps out of the elevator when it stops at his floor. Waving at Jay, he said, “Does this mean you're in love?”
The office he was signed to is the one directly beside the huge window panes, towering above as if it were on the fifteenth floor. And you were assigned to be seated down three office cubes from him, your presence now crawling up his covered arms and sending shivers up his spine.
You are his assistant's assistant; he has nothing to do with you.
Jay's eyes follow you as you pass along completed tasks from the other members of his team, he knows you are pretty. Feeling physical attraction is a normal thing but to him, the moment you said he was beautiful hit him differently than when anyone else complimented him. It sets his heart on fire and he feels like he is going to die. That can't possibly be just physical attraction, because he does a good job at not being affected by that. But somehow the small smile that is always on your lips to be professional makes his stomach turn. “What the fuck am I doing?” Jay groans.
He could understand what you meant when you said everything becomes beautiful in the rain, from his window when his eyes are unfocused and skimming the livelihood of people in daylight, even the most minute thing such as the traffic lights turning from colour to colour evokes a deep feeling in him of pleasantness. The building he would normally see on other days somehow reflects another kind of profoundness as it reflects the sunlight that seeps through crying rain clouds and it becomes etched in his mind as a thing of beauty.
The raindrops that hit the concrete of modernised cities leave him with a sense of loss in the beauty of nature that is found in between a jungle of constructed skyscrapers.
“Excuse me, Mr Park?” Once again, he thinks he is losing his mind and your voice clouds his consciousness, Jay shakes his head not noticing you beside his table.
“Is the rain that entertaining?” poking the edge of your blue file into his shoulder, you smile raising your brows at him.
You found his fascination with the rain outside a little endearing. Jay smiles, craning his head up, “...Is this about the—”
“Yes, I got you an appointment to visit the foreign affairs office. Is three—”
“Three works for me. I was wondering if Ms Choi would join me or else if someone else is going to be briefing the situation there,” Jay narrows his eyes, skimming through the revised documents for driving permits and you shake your head, “She is going to the airport at one to drop off the investors from last week's hotel management meeting—”
Jay hums, biting his lips and asks, “Do you want to join me then?”
“Me?” you tilt your head, blinking your eye at him and locking his gaze. “Um… Uh-huh, I love to.”
YOU WILL NEVER BE LOVELIER THAN YOU ARE NOW.
Tapping your fingers absentmindedly on the lukewarm cafe au lait you got an hour back, you feel as if you have lost three people’s jobs because of your incompetence as an HR worker. Jay didn’t say anything about your little mishap when you were briefing the issue in the conferencing room but he was playing a professional smile with strained eyes while calling up the expats and trying to work out the problem because you just got their entire application rejected and they needed to redo the entire process now.
Normally an agency would’ve worked with them especially if they were foreigners but the new company you joined did all the work themselves because they scouted the employees instead of getting them through embassy dorms. “Hey, Mr Park is calling you,” Miss Choi smiled at you sympathetically, gesturing to his office as you sigh heavily.
“Did I mess up too badly?” you ask, flittering your lashes at your superior and she shakes her head, “Mr Sim is responsible for the employees’ documents — you both have equal responsibility for not noticing the expiry dates of their documents,” she reassures you and you nod.
Dragging yourself to his office, you knock once before letting yourself in and greeting him. “Oh, you’re here,” Jay mutters, pressing down on the landline and you stiffly smile, “How can I help you, Mr Park?” your eyes didn’t seem to have the courage to face him and strayed, your hands fiddling with your clothes.
“I need you to bring me some files from the design department as reference for Thursday’s client meeting. Do you think you can manage overtime today?” his voice is laced with worry and you know it wasn’t worrying about you messing even this up but you couldn’t help chuckling awkwardly and you nod, “Of course. If you’ll let me help.”
“Of course, I am,” Jay said. “Don’t worry about the other three — I got it covered and it happens.”
The walls of your heart shrink, the loud beating of your heart not calming down as you leave his office and guide yourself to the design team right beside your department.
Park Jay was a nice superior, you don't mind working under him how you did in the last job that made you quit. His gaze is intense but with a kind smile and understanding, while he works with the clients directly, you can tell the care he puts in his job and you admire that quality in him. Your heart is always in a race when your thoughts lead to him and you know, you really shouldn't break your heart by falling in love with him when he might not be your soulmate or worse, he already met his soulmate.
“Oh, Jay's new hire!” You hear making you jolt, turning to face the surprised voice.
His moles adorning his face prettily and the loosely tucked shirt of his drapes his shoulders beautifully, you could immediately tell he was the infamous Park Sunghoon of the design team who looked like the greatest design of god's creation himself.
“Ah, yeah I am.” you curtly reply, shifting your gaze away from him when you caught yourself staring too long. He is pretty, you nod impressed.
“I’m Sunghoon, you can just call me that,” he says, handing his hand out and you look at him apprehensively. People don't usually do physical contact on the first day.
You introduce yourself, reluctant to shake his hand and he smiles gently, “You haven't met your soulmate yet—I can tell,” he teases, scrunching his nose at your blushing face.
“Oh, It's not like I think you are mine or anything. J-just, people don't—”
“Yeah but I already found mine. Didn't go too well but at least I can behave civilly and normally with others now,” Sunghoon said, “Soulmates aren't always great, we didn't really match each other well — maybe not just yet in our lives but a few years down the line or maybe earlier when we were still learning the things that broke us.”
Blinking at his ramble, though it came out of nowhere and took you off-guard at his candidness, you find yourself nodding.
You thought the same too. Maybe you and your soulmate need to find each other at the right time to work. That's why you didn't rush to find yours because you might meet them at the wrong time and end up hating them.
Whoever it was, you hope and pray they are someone who can love you even when the soulmate mark fades after the first touch and now you are normal, without soulmate marks.
“Do you think they were the right person though?” you ask, because what if the timing wasn't all that mattered and what if fate could mess up and pair you with someone who is just not for you?
Sunghoon shrugs, his hands pull out a file from the bookshelf in front of him and he said, “You will be perfect for each other at the right moment and that's why you should wait for fate to play the matching game instead of hunting them down as if they are going to disappear after some days — that is of course if they live long enough to meet you or vice versa,
Gasping slightly, Sunghoon asks, “But how can I help you? You are at the design department,” he shakes his head and checks the wristwatch he wears, “You should be off work already.”
“Oh, I am doing overtime.”
Smiling sympathetically at you, “That's the fate of whoever Jay trusts,” he said, pulling out another set of files from the bookshelves and you hum, “Good to know… he trusts me because—”
“You don't need to talk about it,” he cuts you off, nodding reassuringly and you sigh, “Can you tell me where the old eclectic designs are? Oh and also, they want it to have contemporary structures, so that one too?” you ask, racking your hair backwards and stiffly smiling at him.
“Uh, there is a shelf tagged as a reference at the back that is mostly labelled — you can find it there,” he points past you and you nod, thanking him and walking back to it.
“It was nice talking to you, nice to meet you as well Sunghoon!” you said, pressing your lips together tightly waving at him as he left before you continued with your search.
Having spoken about soulmates, you remember that Park Jay too has a soulmate. Guiding your eyes with your finger, you read the labels of the back most shelves and pull out relevant folders but still, the idea that he has a soulmate taunts you.
The words on the edge of your hairline read “No, this wasn't supposed to happen” and you have no idea how to take that as. Did that mean they don't want to meet you, they aren't interested, or they know it's you and doesn't want you specifically? (though this one can't happen the fear still lingers)
And the fact it is at the edge of your hairline also further confuses you as to why they touch you there first. It felt like an oddly intimate place.
Make-up was good enough to hide the words that appeared on you on your fifth birthday but every time you saw it, or someone else did they never failed to tell you how negative the connotation felt.
Shaking your head and train of thought, you inhale sharply returning to the office Jay sat at and you knock, entering as soon as he gives you an ‘okay.’
“These two are eclectic and bohemian,” you said, placing two files in red and “These are contemporary and modern architecture.” placing down the black files.
“Thank you,” he said, flipping through them. “Please help Miss Choi fill in the application of residency for the plantation workers who will be arriving next week — Their passport photos will arrive tomorrow morning to the receptionist downstairs, can I ask you to bring them up with you on the way?” Jay locks his gaze with you, with a small smile on his face and you nod, “Of course. May I know how many applications there are?”
Jay gaps thoughtfully furrowing his brows and mentally counting. “Thirty, thirty-three with the extra three who need their driving approval. They sent forged documents because they expired. By the way, you and Jake are off the hook for this,” he widens his grin, “Aren't you glad?” he asks. Your face heats up immediately and you scoff slightly, shaking your head.
“Thank you for telling me. I will check through the documents more carefully next time,” you state, “With Jake, so that we don't get into trouble.”
Blinking at you, Jay absent-mindedly stares at you. Under his office's dim white light, you look stunning even with your stressed baby hair sticking out and your lightly applied make-up fading, he finds himself just blushing whenever he hears you talk or sees you standing in front of him. His cheeks felt hot but not enough that he thought you could see it too, it was real. And he has to tell himself, he has only known you for almost three weeks now.
It doesn't change the fact you look lovely under the corporate lighting of his dull and incessant office room.
You will never be lovelier than you are now.
Coughing, he snaps himself out of his daze and bites his inner cheek, “Chop, chop now. Back to work.” Jay shyly says, looking away from you, flushed as he was under your gaze. Your stomach's butterflies were in a frenzy.
WE WILL NEVER BE HERE AGAIN.
“How long have you worked for Mr Park?” you ask, bumping your shoulder with Miss Choi who was waiting at the airport beside you.
“Five years going six,” she replies, “Why do you ask?”
Tapping your feet on the marble in the waiting area, you skim through making sure he wasn't nearby. “Is it true he doesn't join the team dinners because he is afraid of the ladies?” you ask with a grin on your face at the idea of the charming Mr Park Jay, cowering in fear of drunk women.
“No. That's not true,” she shakes her head, humming thoughtfully as she continues, “When he was new, all the ladies, even some men, tried to touch his skin pretending it was an accident and team dinners was the perfect excuse. I think he’s just fed up with them.”
Scoffing, you shake your head. “I would be too. Why would they be so unprofessional?” you glare disappointedly. “No wonder he was apprehensive when I joined.”
“Still, two months is a lot faster than anyone else. You got close to him in no time,” Miss Choi laughs at your flushing cheeks and you sigh, by now your crush on him is a brimming teapot that couldn't be tamed.
She knew as soon as you began staying late more often, buying less coffee for him purposely and doing extra procedures with your tasks to reduce his workload. She says you are subtly obvious only because she works with you all the time and that your face shows your feelings. Park Jay just doesn't know how to read you yet.
“Oh there they are!” you point out the name of your company spelt on cardboard along with a couple of foreigners and Miss Choi goes to greet them, leaving you to wait upon Jay who had gone to buy a bouquet for the foreign general manager who was assigned to the plantation, finally taking some load off of him.
Panting beside you, Jay asks “Did they arrive?” as soon as she left your side and you nod, “Yes, Miss Choi went to bring them here.”
“We could've gone there though—”
“We were afraid you'd lose us if we all moved,” you said, tilting your head.
Opening his mouth, letting out an ah, he sputters, “R-right. Never mind, let's greet them.”
Smiling to yourself as you spot his flustered ears, you follow him to the expats. It's been a while since you've had any private conversation with him. That is normal considering the nature of your relationship with him, however, you still find yourself doing a little more than just assisting his assistant in the office now that you've read his routine.
To be fair, it was Jake who is now your closest co-worker that told you about Jay's trouble going home from work. You thought if you did the work that didn’t need his supervision then he would have lesser work to keep him in the office but that was proven wrong when you walked into him sleeping on the couch of the lounge room and then you found out he has spare clothes in his locker for days he doesn’t go home — his habit of staying overtime had its grip on his routine even though you think he doesn’t need to stay overtime. Maybe there were other reasons, but you couldn’t think of any. Not when he seemed perfectly normal on the days he does go home following you out to the elevator.
Jay said his parents were doting but encouraged him to be independent, so he lives alone now and seemed like he had no siblings.
You concluded that Park Jay doesn’t like being alone in his house and preferred being alone in the office instead.
Sources? The fact you always see him around people until it was time to go home. But currently, it is unverified speculation.
Jay greets the employees, introducing the team to them and before you know it, you are seated in a Japanese restaurant with your company card to pay for a welcoming party. The cordial atmosphere of the orange-tinted lighting, wood panelling separators along with the warmly varnished wooden furniture of the restaurant. Jay sits between you and the wall, telling the new employees to order as they like and you notice the way he sat furthest from people, awkwardly smiling when he made eye contact.
“Are you shy around new people?” you wonder out loud, his eyes blinking at you confusedly.
“Not… Particularly?” he shrugs, leaning on the table and you said, “You were not shy when we met, so I guess not but right now,”
“Yeah. I feel awkward because it is a team dinner,” Jay locks eyes with you, a smile climbing upon his face. He thinks you look pretty under the lighting of the restaurant — he thinks of that so frequently and he knows he doesn’t want to accept that he just thinks you look pretty under every lighting in whatever place. But something about the fact you will never be here again makes him want to burn the sight of you in this particular restaurant in his mind and erase the team dinner setting. Maybe five years from now, he can misunderstand his memory of you as a date. Not that he is hundred per cent sure, it sounds nice in his head now. Going on a date with you? Jake said you wanted to go on a dinner date with him and that he should man up already.
Jay thinks you should invite him yourself though.
Because for all he knows, he is assuming that Jake isn’t playing with him.
“Do you like Japanese Cuisine by chance?” he asks, clearing his throat and you narrow your eyes, maybe it is a trick of the light but you see the flushing on his cheeks, eyes straying away from yours.
“Ah… yeah. I like most food if it's seasoned,” you reply, shooting him back the same question and raising your brows. “I used to have a lot of Japanese dishes when I was young, it is probably an acquired taste,” Jay explains nodding to himself as if in deep thought and adds, “I feel like having shabu-shabu now,”
“We can have that if you want…” you said, turning to press the bell to call the waiter but he stops you, “No! I don’t want shabu… shabu…” causing you to jolt and gasp.
Blinking at him, you giggle surprised at his burst. “You don’t want shabu-shabu?” you grin, resting your chin on your hand amusedly by his embarrassed expression.
“Uh — I crave shabu-shabu from a certain restaurant,” Jay pouts, rubbing his eyes with his hands and mumbling, “Ugh I am so embarrassed now. What the hell,”
Laughing at him, you allow him to feel his embarrassment and call Mrs Choi, “Is it okay if we leave?” you ask, pointing at your boss and she raises her eyebrows at you, a teasing smile on her face. “Of course, I can manage to pay for this in the end,” she nods, “Have fun,”
Biting down a smile, you return your attention to Jay. Still flushed, you clear your throat standing up from your seat which catches his attention and he lets out a confused noise, “Where are you going?” he asks and you assume he didn’t hear a single thing you spoke with Mrs Choi. “To appease your craving — Now even I am craving shabu-shabu,” you said, gesturing to him to come along and politely announcing your departure before exiting the restaurant with Park Jay behind you, sluggishly in a haze.
A moment you thought you'd have to painstaking plan out, that's what you thought inviting Jay out to dinner would be and it turned out easier than you thought. “Now, where did you park your car, Mr Park?” you hum, shifting your balance to one side and craning your head towards Jay who walks in front of you, down the slope of the road.
“A little ways forward,” he quietly said, shuffling down while steadily increasing his pace which in turn makes you also chase after him. “Slow down!” you complain, your heels hurting your soles and Jay suddenly goes weak in his knees and sits.
He doesn't know what overcame him in the moment.
“Ugh! What is this?” he inhales sharply, holding his breath and counting the number of times his heart skips a beat. He hits his chest firmly, taking a deep breath again.
Six, seven, eight, nine — It feels sufficient to say that he felt like his lungs were drowning, gasping for air and his skin burns itself along with the river of scorching blood that travels to his head making him dizzy. It is utterly unprofessional on his side right now. A dinner date. That's what this is and no one is going to change his mind now that his heart swells and dances with his butterflies that are reigning over his haywire system. Your voice proliferates his flush down to his neck and he hides his face in his hands, completely defeated by the overwhelming emotion he feels when a drop of drizzle settles on the side of his forehead.
“Mr Park, are you okay?” you ask, worry filling your chest as you catch up to him and bend to see his face.
You hear him grunting into his palms and he springs up, startling you. “It looks like it'll rain,” Jay coughs, eyes almost teary and you gasp, “Mr Park — Jay, are you crying?” you blurt out, jaw falling at the sight of his reddened self.
“I am not!” he denies, fanning his face. “My face feels very hot. That’s all,” he shrugs, continuing on his way and this time you keep up, glancing at him now and then until you reach his car and you ask. “Jay. Go home?”
“No.”
“You look very sick or else, I will assume you are just really flushed,” you bite the inside of your cheek as they heat up and you stare at him, waiting for a response.
Park Jay is many things.
One of them is being a very shy person. Not by nature but by the situation and for as long as he has lived, he has never felt this way towards anyone because of his assumptions about soulmates and his interest in relationships went as far as a friendship could do, he has kept his desires and emotions to himself for the most part and he is sure that his heart has never been in this… this rainfall of heat and nerves on his body and mind.
“Shabu-shabu is okay right?” Jay asks, entering his side of the car and you follow suit.
Nodding, you reply, “Yes. Shabu-shabu is okay,” smiling at him, you turn to face out of the window and that was that, nothing happened and the night ends with the sound of pattering rain on your window, utterly confused as to why Park Jay became a little complicated for you to understand.
Staring at the ceiling of your bedroom, the Shabu-shabu was great. Park Jay was weird. He kept talking and talking and talking and never met your eye. You feel like the night has been cut short — the moment he crouched in the street and now, what was in between is Jay's flushed cheeks and straying eyes that steal your breath and push your gut into your chest.
A question that immediately springs to your mind as soon as you enter your apartment. Reading the patterns from the beginning of the night.
You ask yourself, “Was he just blushing?”
BECAUSE YOU ARE FINALLY ALL MINE.
Soulmates.
Park Jay knew two things about the way he wanted to meet his soulmate and right now, under the rain is where it has to be. He spent all his time watching it and with every drop that hits the surface, his heart drops with the idea of you being his soulmate. You aren’t ruled out yet — he hasn’t touched you nor have you touched him, if you were soulmates then it would prove his idea that any moment might be your first. He met you as an employee, a person in his team and a charmer that his mind enshrined with every smile, every gaze, every word. His chest is always agitated with you in sight and he couldn’t anymore.
Immediately getting on the elevator without waiting for you, Jay walks away from the conference room, guiding the clients outside with him and the Design team's leader leaving you along with Jake. Tapping your fingers on the tinted-glass table, you lean back on your chair and sigh. He ran away once again.
Releasing a prolonged hum, you cross your arms and ask, “Don't you think Mr Park is avoiding me?”
“Don't you think you are avoiding him emotionally too?” Jake rebuttals whilst air quoting the word emotional, shrugging his shoulders and you blink at him with stink eyes, “What?” you scoff.
“You've been calling Jay Mr Park again — you regressed all the process,” he explains and you groan, shaking your head.
To be fair, yeah you did that. But not to build an emotional wall, “I am separating my work and personal life,” you said, smiling condescendingly at him as you collect your files and Jake follows you out of the room.
“By calling him Mr Park?”
“Yes. Outside, in private conversations and settings, I can call him Jay but inside, in the office, he is Mr Park. The nice boss who is staring at him with so much contempt,” you rant. Taking a deep breath, you ask again. “Jay is avoiding me right?”
Jake nods, “He is,” he presses the elevator's button and you wait, tapping your feet on the floor. “I heard you went on a dinner date—”
“It was not,” you interrupt, rolling your eyes. “That was like two weeks ago now and I am struggling to even get him alone now. I can't invite him out,”
“Why? You invited him before for lunch. Like a lot?” Jake asks, rolling his eyes and collecting his things too.
You would if you could. More and more, Jay has been staying at the office instead of following up after you to get off work. Your regular hi and hello, how's your days are gone now that you don't see him unless he calls you in for work and sends you out as soon as he is done, his eyes that don't meet yours anymore and Yang Jungwon's monopolization of him is the most annoying part.
“Jungwon takes him out for lunch before I can even go to his office — You need to help me,” you whine, watching the elevator open.
“I can help but that's not what Jay wants, so no,” entering the elevator with you, Jake adds, “You both are so, um, annoying at this point because one, Jay is a chicken and two, you are not a chicken with no plan,”
For the almost three months you’ve been working in his HR team, you learnt a lot about him by default because you are his assistant(who is the real busybody)’s assistant. You work with him everyday because Mrs Choi is out and about getting things in order and you are inside getting things approved and getting Jay up with the progress made. It doubled the time you first spent with him. His routine coffee call, the subtle difference in his many navy ties, the couch in his office that is shaped like him and the small smile that graces his lips when he is absentmindedly going with the flow of his life. You know he likes people, he always lingers in the cafeteria longer until everyone is gone, he is one of the only team leaders who is easy to mingle with and he knows so much about everyone, keeping up with everything they have exchanged with him and he smiles so brightly, laughing heartily and your chest swells, watching him in his usual seat in the cafeteria.
“What does he and Jungwon talk about?” you mumble to yourself.
“How stupid he is,” Jake responds, sipping on his juice and Sunghoon who has been joining you for lunch says, “And about their plans to go bowling this weekend. Jay is living the youngster’s life vicariously through Yang Jungwon,”
“We aren’t that older than Wonie,” Jake reminds him and you giggle, nodding at him.
According to the weather forecast, today will be the last day of rain before the sun comes out of hiding and your eyes linger with the movement of the Jay’s, his gaze plastered to the raining outside and you can’t tell what he is thinking behind his blank stare. Eating your lunch as you watch him, Jake leaves to find Jungwon who moves away from his table to grab dessert and drags him to your seat.
Jungwon smiles while greeting you and you return the greeting, looking at the boy curiously before asking, “So — Mind telling me why he is playing hide and seek with me?”
“Embarrassment probably,” Jungwon said, stiffly smiling.
“Hm, makes sense but why? I never laugh at him,” you wonder, crossing your arms, turning your attention back to him but you catch the sight of him moving to the entrance and Sunghoon asks, “Oh oh, where is he going?”
“Without an umbrella!” Jake gasps, a wide grin enveloping his face and he pulls his bag from below the table and fishes out his foldable umbrella, saying, “Go on! Go get him alone!”
Looking from one to another, you stutter, “Huh? N-now?” you stand, freezing in your spot and Sunghoon nods reassuring you, “I can tell something is going to happen in your favour — A great premonition. I can see it,” he says ominously.
Narrowing your eyes at him, you remember something Jay said to you, “His friend is like a clairvoyant. Are you the one who told him about weird things related to the rain?” you laugh in disbelief, “No way,”
Jungwon shakes his head, “He is probably the one,” he said, standing up from his seat.
“Go now! You will miss Jay and come crying to me,” Jake groans, pushing you away and you gasp, turning to the entrance and navigating through the crowd.
Sighing at your sight, Jake asks, “You think they are soulmates?” to which Sunghoon immediately nods. “Soulmates who met at the right time. I hope it goes well for them,” He says, still nodding.
He knows the oracles when it comes to Jay have always come to life. Through the catalyst of his own retelling but Jay’s own inclination to test it has always been part of the equation and at the moment, Sunghoon could almost predict what he was thinking. Standing just a step away from the rain, the building’s shade keeps him dried and the temptation to walk under and stand until his soulmate finds him itches his heart’s insides and you are the image that runs rampant in his mind. How crazy would it be if you really were the one? The nauseous feeling you cause, the coiling nerves and the idea of redamancy.
What if you loved him in return for his love?
The love he has been saving for his soulmate, like sand slipping through his fingers into your arms, he doesn’t mind anymore if you aren’t his soulmate.
Who decides who is whose soulmate. Was it just that your bodies reacted to the soulmate marks or was it really the fact that you chose to love each other? Jay knows if it were up to him he would decide for you to be the soulmate, the cause of the reaction, the love wants to choose.
“Yeah. Fuck this shit,” Jay groans, running his hand through his hair and taking off his company ID incase the rain kills the chip, shuffling it into his pocket, one step into the rain and another.
“Excuse me, Mr Park?”
Your hands hold his forearm, a rush of electricity like current in water waves over him and he loses his balance, eyes wide open and his lips touch the top of your hairline as you grip his faltering body from slipping in the rain with the umbrella, clenched in between your arm and torso.
Throwing his being in a flurry, his skin feels like it's being poked by needles where you touched him and his lips, your skin, your hair. “No, this wasn't supposed to happen,”
“Oh god,” words spill from your lips, rain drops draping you in an inconvenient ambience of romance when your heart drops. “You…” you choke on your words, cheeks like the sun and the sizzling blood that spikes to your head in a dizzying rush. Jay’s shirt soaked in the rain, gripping you with his own mind rushing and he says exactly your thought, “Are you my soulmate?” His voice is especially quiet, sluggish blinkering that is heavier due to the rain and you shake your head.
“Yo-you said the words — you kissed my hairline, Mr Park,” you said, inhaling sharply and pulling your hand from his forearm and you ask, “Is this where your… soulmate mark was?” folding up his sleeve nimbly, the black inked mark is gone as if it was never there and Jay rubs his hand on the area his lips touched, “Your mark is gone,” he points.
“So is yours,” you blink.
What comes after the revelation of soulmate bonds, is it love before or after? Jay knows in his heart it is love before and right now, “I—I was going to give up on you just now,” he laughs, thinking about how absurd this situation was. “I came out here thinking that if I didn’t meet my soulmate, I don’t care because if they weren’t you. Because my soulmate isn’t you, I would choose you over them,
“I was like a hundred per cent sure — If I read inbetween the lines, it looked like you were interested in me but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions and embarrass myself more,”
Smiling softly, you intertwine your fingers with his. You never thought you’d be able to ever hold his hands. With the weight of the soulmate mark, it felt impossible to ever approach anyone romantically.
“You are not jumping to conclusions. You’re right,” you pause, biting your lips and looking away from him. “I tried to be extra friendly with ulterior motives. I didn’t think my boss would be hot, nice and absolutely the cutest person I have ever seen,” you gush, grinning the entire span of your face and you remember when a shudder runs down your back, “Should we head back in? We are soaki—,” you said.
“Can we start as if we aren’t soulmates?” Jay interrupts, “This… this feels anticlimactic to my emotions from the Shabu-shabu night,”
“What was that about?” you ask, shuffling and opening the umbrella finally, raising it over your heads and Jay shakes his head, his eyes unfocused, “That should just stay a secret,” he mumbles.
When Sunghoon foresaw meeting his soulmate under the rain, Jay passed it off as another random intuition his friend seemed to have; sometimes they did happen, sometimes they didn't happen at all. what he didn't expect was the way Sunghoon was right this time and the way he played right into it just by wanting to test the oracle. When he felt himself being pulled by you and the moment he realized woah, Sunghoon was right yet again. “Jay, stop dazing and let’s go,” you shake his arm but he sighs, slinging your tied hands in the air.
Grinning at you, “I should thank Sunghoon,” Jay said, matching his pace with yours as you walk back into the building, slightly embarrassed at the state of you. You ask, “Why?” hiding behind him, closing the umbrella and following him close to the open elevator.
Stepping in, just you and him, Park Jay smiles brightly and pockets both his hands standing front of you after pressing the button to the fifth floor and your heart skips a beat, threatening to jump out of your chest as he says,
“Because you are finally all mine,”

ONE YEAR AGO…
“happy birthday, omi!” you laugh as you kiss your boyfriend’s check. you can feel his face heating up as he looks at you. he’s so cute when he’s flustered like this, even after being together for nearly four years.
you watch eagerly as he blows out the candles on the less-than-average cake you’d tried to bake, he never comments on it though, instead he smiles at the thought of you putting your effort into something for him. he’s never had anyone care about him this much, how’d he get so lucky?
“thank you, y/n.” he chuckles when he pulls away. “i’m so happy i meant you.”
“i know you don’t like to do much for your birthdays, but you have me! we can always do something,” you tell him, “it’s your special day, and i don’t want my boyfriend spending any day alone,” you frown. kiyoomi laughs and comments on how corny you are. you guys spend the day eating it on your couch (and trying not to throw up at your baking), video calling atsumu just for fun too.
PRESENT DAY…
it’s been hours since he got there and you surprised him with a little party - singing happy birthday to him with just you two and a few people from his inner circle, though everyone’s left by now since it’s late, except for you. once again, you and kiyoomi are sitting alone together on his couch, except this time things feel more distant between you two.
there’s this tension, a sort of awkwardness, when you’re with him. sometimes you’re not sure if hanging out with your ex is a good idea. it feels like you’re bordering on just being friends and getting back together. the way he blushes at your jokes or willingly grabs your hand — it feels all too familiar, yet at the same time doesn’t.
it feels more comfortable now, after cracking a few jokes with him. you stop for a moment and look kiyoomi in the eyes, the both you leaning in.
everything else around you is blurred out, all you can think about is that you’re about to kiss him, and how it’s the only thing making your heart pound like this. you don’t even notice that the door is cracking open behind you, your best friend walking in.
suna’s about to say something to announce that he’s here, but he stops and his stomach drops at the sight of you and kiyoomi. he’s forcing himself to turn around and leave, wishing he’d never walked in on you.

Fictober Day 5: “No, anything but that”
Critical Role, 673 words, Zerxus et al.
In which the telepathic bond is sure a thing that happens, huh
"Awful news, everyone." Patia's voice floats through Zerxus' head in the middle of his mid-morning tea run, and he has to ask the man at the coffee cart to repeat his total. "The Council will no longer be storing crystal recordings of their meetings in the Archives."
"Oh no," says Laerryn, utterly devoid of expression or tone, "anything but that."
"That's illegal," says Cerrit.
"That's not illegal," says Loquatius. "It's a little discourteous, but other than that it isn't as if they're obligated to report their private business to anyone with a note from a university."
"They are, though?" says Patia.
Zerxus smiles politely at the man behind the counter and carries the tray of teacups back towards the public courtyard where he is one of a group of Oracles bullshitting a report for the Navigators' Guild on atmospheric pressures and weather patterns for the next six months. Because that is definitely what the universe chooses to share with those who have trained for years to connect their consciousness to the grand web made by the strings of possibility.
The sun is warm on his back, the smell of flowers heavy on the gentle breeze.
"Don't bring your fantasies of democracy into this," says Loquatius. "We're a civilised society, thank you."
"They're only fantasies until the coup happens," says Cerrit. "You never see us coming, motherfucker."
"You go get 'em," Evandrin says, clearly distracted. "Punch that governmental system right in its magical face."
"I've been doing some reading."
"I hate it here," says Laerryn.
"Ask me about democratic process and its relationship to the free market in exactly two hours," Nydas says. "I have thoughts, but I also have a meeting with a giant sea serpent about a ship."
"What... happened to the ship?" Patia asks, tentatively.
"He ate it. Hence the meeting."
Zerxus passes through the gates. His colleagues are spread out across most of the benches, taking over decorative ledges and statues and garden beds. It makes him nostalgic for the sort of school days he never had.
"Democracies only destroy transparency," says Loquatius. "The same people are in charge, they just have to be more underhanded about how they get there."
"I love when you have opinions," says Evandrin, amused.
"how dare you?" says Loquatius. "I have never had an opinion in my life."
"We love a conflict of interest here," says Laerryn.
"No, I think that's only you, dear," says Patia.
"Hurtful," says Loquatius. “I’m very lovable.”
Zerxus passes out the teacups, laughs softly at a joke he can only half focus on.
"You'll tell us if there's anything good, though, won't you, Loquatius?" Patia coos.
"That's not the point," says Cerrit, at the same time Loquatius says
"I rarely get invited in to those meetings."
"You could get in if you wanted to,” Cerrit points out, immediately distracted from his previous thought.
"Shut the fuck up," Laerryn says, and Zerxus can feel the full weight of her sudden focus slam into the bond. He staggers a bit, sits down too hard on the bench where he'd left his notes and ink pot.
"Zerxus, are you well?" one of his fellow Oracles approaches, forehead creased in concern.
"Yes, sorry. I was just light headed for a moment."
"It really would be useful, though," Patia is saying, at the same time Laerryn is projecting icy protective anger like a flashing red warning sign.
Sometimes Zerxus thinks Cerrit does things just to gage how dangerous Laerryn's reactions are.
"He ate! A ship!" Nydas cuts in. "Can you all stop please, I need to focus."
"Ok, but how big was it," Evandrin says.
Zerxus sends a chiding sensation at his husband before he can think better of it.
"He's alive!" says Evandrin. "Sweetheart, tell Patia and Cerrit that they should have some faith in the leadership of our city."
"Burn it to the ground," says Zerxus, and picks up his quill.

I blame @quiet-oracle and @theevildevices for this, because I couldn’t resist the urge to write 2k of hurt/comfort for the ‘Jedi but enemies’ AU, where Qui-Gon trained Anakin, and now him and Obi-Wan are well-known for despising each other but working exceptionally well together when they’re not lost in ridiculous banters and petty arguments to hide the fact that they’ll be lost without each other;
Obi-Wan winces.
Skywalker’s hand immediately withdraws. “Does it bother you when I—”
“Yes.”
“You don’t even know what I was going to say!”
“The answer is still the same.”
Skywalker’s sigh is heavier than the entire Republic navy.
His mouth is too close to Obi-Wan’s shoulder, and he shivers as a result. But it’s only because the cold of the never-ending rain outside still lingers on their clothes and in their bones, even under the tent and close to the portable heater that a clone is still trying to adjust. And also because he’s been sitting there bare-chested for the past five minutes, with Skywalker’s clumsy fingers poking at his hip and ribs, probably way harder than necessary, just to see him suffer.
“I can apply a bacta patch myself, you can go n—”
“Would you please shut up? We both know a bacta patch wouldn’t be enough.”
Only the sound of a packet of antiseptic wipes being opened, gauze being stretched and the clone pushing buttons with no effect can be heard for a moment.
“I don’t think you’ve ever said ‘please’ to me before,” Obi-Wan notes lightly, then grimaces when Skywalker starts pulling on the cloth pressed to his side.
“Don’t get used to it. But if it’s the only way to make you stop being so difficult and contradictory all the time, I will gladly say it more.”
Instead of looking at his own wound —the pain in his hip is enough, thank you, he doesn't need to see the extent of the damages— Obi-Wan glances at Skywalker. Gaze focused and mouth in a thin line, there’s only concentration written on his face.
No one could guess that only half an hour ago, on the battlefield, panic and terror were the only two emotions Skywalker was projecting loud enough in the Force to bring Obi-Wan out of unconsciousness.
Unbelievable, Obi-Wan has thought once he was aware enough to realise that it was Skywalker's hands on his face and Skywalker’s voice in his ear, begging him to come back. He would find a way to be annoying enough to drag me out of a coma if he could.
Surprisingly, the thought has felt like a comfort.
The clone working on the heater stands up suddenly. Obi-Wan almost forgot about him. He nods his head towards them, and goes out of the tent at the exact same moment Hyoid enters.
At the sight of the clone, all modicum of appreciation for Skywalker evaporate.
“You called a medic?” Obi-Wan scowls, with the tone of someone who has just been the victim of a vicious mutiny.
“Of course I called a medic. Half of your tunic is covered in your own blood and you were knocked out for a while earlier, what do you think I was going to do? Tell you to go back out there and watch you slowly bleed to death?”
“Generals,” the medic calls. In vain.
“You would enjoy that,” Obi-Wan grumbles.
“Well, yes, but then the Council will ask me why I let you die just a few meters away from a first aid kit, and then I’ll have to explain that I gently push it away from your weak hands every time you reached for it, and how will I look, then?”
“Like someone who could have let me die on the battlefield and get away with it, but decided instead to choose the most idiotic and time-consuming option available, and I would have enjoyed that very much.”
“Generals.”
“Exactly,” Skywalker nods, “and I can’t let you enjoy things.”
“I know. Don’t think I never realised who was flushing the toilets every time I was in the shower when the hot water came back two days ago.”
“You were so cheerful,” Skywalker says, as if the mere thought disgusts him. “I took that as a personal affront.”
“Sirs, please,” Hyoid implores louder. Both Jedi turn towards him, almost surprised to see him there. “I’m just here to see General Kenobi’s injury, I’m sure you can continue your conversation right after. Sirs. Please.”
It takes them a second to realise that they’re sitting so close together that Obi-Wan’s hand has settled on Skywalker’s knee when they weren’t paying attention, while Skywalker’s fingers are still maintaining Obi-Wan’s pants low on his hip so it won’t come in contact with the long gash on his side. The intimacy of the scene isn’t completely lost on Skywalker, it seems, because he rushes to take his hands away and stands next to his chair, suddenly too self-conscious to know what to do with himself.
“I’m very sorry about him,” Obi-Wan apologises, as the medic takes Skywalker’s seat and starts assessing the mess Skywalker undoubtedly made of his hip and ribs. “He’s a rescue. He still has no idea how to behave appropriately in polite society.”
An outraged noise comes from Skywalker behind him, and despite the throbbing pain, Obi-Wan can feel the corners of his mouth turning up. A hiss replaces his smile rapidly enough when Hyoid applies a spray and starts cleaning what Skywalker missed, before pressing stingy patches on the wound.
The medic is wise enough not to reply to him, but it doesn’t stop him from making a comment or two about how ‘this isn’t superficial sir, you should be more careful from now on,’ or ‘you’ll have to change the bandages, and I’ll get some pills for you to take’ and ‘ok, now let’s see your head, sir, don’t think General Skywalker didn’t mention it’.
His head is, indeed, becoming heavier by the minute, and he can feel himself growing too tired to care enough to listen carefully after that. Once he gives up answering questions and lets Skywalker do it for him, Obi-Wan doesn’t even need to concentrate to feel him poking obnoxiously at him in the Force, testing the limits of his consciousness. It reminds him a bit of when Skywalker was a child, tugging on his robe every two minutes to make sure he was paying attention to him.
No wonder Obi-Wan always tried to avoid him.
“All right,” the medic finally says, pulling him out of his reverie. He stands up, seemingly satisfied. “I’ll get you your pills, and then you should rest.”
Rest sounds amazing. Obi-Wan would kill Skywalker for a good mattress and a soft pillow right now. But it doesn’t mean anything; he would probably kill Skywalker for two minutes of peace on the best of days.
The sudden silence that falls under the tent once Hyoid is gone seems almost unnatural. Obi-Wan doesn’t understand why the faint pitter-patter of the rain outside unsettles him so much, until he realises that it’s the first time since the battlefield that he’s alone with Skywalker.
“Are you going to keep sulking behind me?” Obi-Wan asks, finding his robe discarded on the floor and wondering if it’s worth leaning down to get it. No reply comes. “Well, you heard the medic. You can go now. I, unfortunately for you, will still live to see another...” he trails off as two arms slide over his shoulders from behind, wrapping around his neck and resting there.
Skywalker is warm against him.
For a second, Obi-Wan thinks he’s finally going to strangle him, but a golden head falls on his shoulder gently, face hidden by a cascade of curls, tickling Obi-Wan's neck and collarbone.
“Skyw—”
“Don’t be an insufferable asshole for a minute,” Skywalker mumbles, breath hot against his bare skin. “Just let me have this.”
Ah. It’s one of those moments, then.
He thought they were done with that for the day after what happened on the battlefield. Earlier.
With Skywalker’s face looming over him. Eyes so wide and so blue. One hand pressed against the wound in his side to stop the bleeding, one hand twisted in Obi-Wan’s tunic, right above his heart.
Being the one injured and barely conscious, but also being the one calming Skywalker down. Managing to get him to release his death-grip on him. Assuring him that he wasn’t going to die.
Promising it.
Twice.
Soothing the Hero with No Fear as he would soothe a lost and abandoned child.
“I told you already,” Obi-Wan says quietly. It feels wrong to speak louder when he knows they won’t look at each other for some time after that. “It’s all right. I’m fine now. It’s over.”
The arms around him tighten, mirroring the weight of Skywalker’s presence in the Force around Obi-Wan.
“I thought you’d left me,” Skywalker says accusingly, sounding remarkably like his nine-year-old self. “I thought you’d left me behind again.”
Obi-Wan closes his eyes, as if not seeing it would erase the fact he’s indulging his instinct to nuzzle his face against Skywalker’s hair. He smells like the rain, muddy but fresh, and feels like lingering distress in the Force. It’s far from pleasant to remain close to such an unbalanced mind, and their position isn’t comfortable either. But Obi-Wan doesn’t shiver from the cold anymore. So they don’t move.
They’ve earned that second of weakness.
Obi-Wan’s hand comes up to scratch at Skywalker’s head gently, fingers tangling with unruly locks of hair. Slowly, his muscles relax and he leans into the touch, chest slumped against Obi-Wan’s back. Skywalker’s face turns towards his throat, nestled under his jaw, before exhaling, deep and warm. In the Force, Skywalker’s signature curls against Obi-Wan’s and quiets down to a low satisfied rumble, dragged away from dread and terror one caress at a time.
Obi-Wan’s mind is suddenly way too tired to be bothered by the tenderness of it all.
“I’m here now, with you,” he whispers in his hair. “That’s all that matters.”
It’s a quiet apology that Skywalker accepts with a satisfied humming noise that resonates in Obi-Wan’s whole body.
It feels a bit like an apology for more. For everything. For all the times he avoided and pushed him away as a child. For condemning him for reasons he didn’t want to admit to himself. For wanting to blame him, for taking his master away, for being such a better padawan than he was, for rubbing it in his face.
For wanting to be his friend, always.
Obi-Wan has been wrong for so long.
When the medic comes back, Skywalker is kneeling in front of the heater, cursing it quietly, and Obi-Wan is adjusting his robe around his shoulders with slow movements.
“All right, sir, this is what you’ll have to take before every meal,” Hyoid says, showing him a small bottle, before putting a white box on the table. “And these are the bandages and the bacta to change every day. I would advise you not to do it yourself, and if you don’t have anyone to—“
“I’ll do it,” Skywalker declares without looking up, and Obi-Wan immediately narrows his eyes.
“You? I can’t even trust you with my toothpaste tube, what makes you think—“
“I don’t care what you say Kenobi, there is no wrong way to squeeze toothpaste!”
“There is, and you do it on purpose. What kind of savage would squeeze it right in the middle—”
Skywalker suddenly turns towards Hyoid, talking over him. “How many pills would it take to be considered a lethal dose, do you think?”
It is, of course, the one comment that ignites a virulent and pointless argument that makes the poor medic reconsider all his life choices and wonder if chloroforming Jedi generals would get him court-martialed.
After seven minutes of a loud and dramatic dispute ending with Skywalker promising to never take part in anything related to Kenobi anymore, except maybe his funeral, Hyoid decides to risk it.

Sisters, Scoldings and Seaside Memories
My excuse? I wanted to write the Oracles meeting the heroes and it spiraled into some Legend angst, because, well- this is me.
I do have a prompt I blame for this though, so go yell at the folks at @linkeduniverse-prompts for inspiring me with this idea.
The heroes had landed in Legend’s world again, jolted across time and space by yet another sudden switch, one that had left them more shaken and out of sorts than normal, and which, quite to everyone’s panic, had nearly made Four pass out. As was, the smithy had clutched ahold of the nearest hero at the moment, Legend, and refused to let go, resulting in his getting picked up and carried by the vet after they had figured out where they were.
The fact that they had been dumped so close to Legend’s house (they were only just a half an hour’s walk away) had unnerved the vet, and a few others, but there was no sign of monsters as far as their scouting crew could tell, even with the heavy rainfall, and if Hyrule, Wild and Twilight all agreed that the path was safe, then no one else was going to be the one to question them. After all, if you can’t trust the two best survivors and the best tracker on their team, who could they trust?
Ravio had greeted the group with open arms and cheerful welcomes, pulling the sopping smithy out of Legend’s hold and cooing when the multi-colored hero hadn’t even protested. Legend didn’t appear too very put out about it either, just shaking his head with a smile that he hid behind dripping bangs as he’d removed his shoes and barked orders at the rest of them to do the same.
While Legend stoked the fire and grabbed a blanket for Four, who Ravio was settling in his own favorite overstuffed arm-chair (if Ravio hated Legend's rocker, then Legend had already condemned that chair to the furthest corners of the dark world), the rest of the heroes stood about toweling themselves off and looking around. Ravio had reorganized again, although he’d left a few things, like the strange mask on the wall and a few other decorations, alone. It looked nice, cozier, although a bit less like a shop. When asked why, the merchant had waved off the curious looks from both the heroes and his housemate.
“I figured with all y’all visiting so much I’d probably better work out of the shed. It took a bit of tidying up- now Mr. Hero, don’t look at me like that, it was a mess! Anyways, I tidied it up, moved most of the things into the basement where you can get at them easier, Mr. Hero, and set up shop! Now y’all won’t have to worry about my things getting in the way.” Ravio smiled brightly as he finished, patting Four’s head and ignoring the smithy’s irritated look and looking pointedly at Warriors instead.
It was clear that Ravio’s adoption of Legend and Twilight’s use of the word ‘y’all’ was bothering the poor captain immensely.
The evening progressed as usual, with Ravio humming off key as he bustled about the house making ready the bedrooms for the heroes’ use. Wild, perhaps in wake of the pie incident, had finally been granted access to the kitchen, which allowed him to make dinner while the others offered Ravio their aid.
As “host” Legend had been assigned the task of sitting with Four until the smithy felt a bit better. The vet had at first protested leaving all the work to the others, but Ravio had finally persuaded him by pointing out that Mr. Smithy shouldn’t be left alone to stew too much in his thoughts, and wouldn’t Mr. Hero like to make sure the Hero of the Four Sword was quite alright in this particular Hyrule? Why that worked, or why Ravio had used that specific wording was unknown to the others, but Legend caved quickly after that, changing into a horridly oversized tunic and joining Four on the couch, the smithy leaning against him while the two talked over mundane things like metal imbalances in weapons and other such matters.
Time hadn’t been able to hide a snort of laughter as he caught wind of Four very casually explaining proper cooling methods to use on newly forged swords to a flushed veteran, and Legend had looked one instant away from snapping back about a recent mishap involving such a task, only stopped the smith’s continued softness of voice and weary eyes.
The knock on the door only sounded however, once most of the others had already bustled into the kitchen, leaving Legend and Four to eat their dinner together where the smith would be most comfortable and Legend couldn’t scold Twilight for his ‘wolfish’ manners at the dinner table.
Considering the vet had trouble keeping himself clean, Warriors had quietly commented that maybe the other boy didn’t exactly have room to be complaining about table manners.
The sound at the door was lost to those in the kitchen as they chattered and laughed, but to the two heroes in the living room it was clear as day, and startled them both so much that they both fumbled with their bowls, violet clashing with brown as sheepish smiles marred both their faces, light laughter on their lips at their shared startle.
The knock sounded again, this time urgent, repetitive and with a desperate air.
Amusement flickered to worry as Legend had risen from the couch, the line of his shoulders tight with worry as he’d reached for the sword he’d left at the door before even daring to lay his fingers on the door handle. Four’s own hand had scrabbled for his blade, but he’d remained sitting, tense and alert with his ears pricked forwards and eyes sharp against whatever might be outside.
There were a few things Legend was expecting to see when he’d opened the door; royal guards coming for the bounty that the king had still failed to lift from him, despite most all of Hyrule knowing by now of his innocence of the crimes attributed to him, or maybe it would be a villager desperately reporting a monster attack down in Kakariko, he had thought it strange they had been dumped so conveniently close to home with no danger immediately evident.
What was on the other side however was not any of the things on his mental list.
Three cloaked figures stood outside the door, two of them nearly looming over him as a pair of sharp blue eyes stared at him from beneath the shade of a hood, stern and wary, but not entirely devoid of concern. “Link! Oh, thank heavens you’re here!”
“Nayru?” The vet blinked in surprise, gaze falling first on the Oracle in front of him and then to her sisters, standing behind her and wrapped tightly against the rain. And for lack of anything better to say, or even think, he opened the door a bit wider, motioning vaguely with the sword still in his other hand. “Come in.”
Four’s eyes followed the three girls as green, red and blue had brightened the dimming room, the bright hair and clothes of the three Oracles strangely out of place in the muted tones of Legend and Ravio’s house. Legend stashed his sword back against the wall, taking the cloaks from the three ladies and hanging them on hooks with everyone else’s as Nayru turned to him with her face drawn and eyes flickering sternly.
“Link.” Nayru began, frowning down at the vet, who stared up at her with similar seriousness. “It has come to my attention that there has been a temporal and chronological anomaly that seems to have been following you, I’ve come to ask-”
“Four!” Farore’s trill broke through the tense atmosphere as the Oracle of Secrets rushed over to bundle the Hero of Four Swords into a hug. “How? Oh, my stars! It’s been so long! You look so much older!” The girl exclaimed, holding the sheepish smithy at arm's length and inspecting him. “I haven’t seen you in forever! Although, I suppose it seems like less time for you. Linky! How on earth did you rescue him?” That stopped the smithy silent, and he stared up at the greenette before him curiously as she chattered on, worry in her eyes. “Is that why he looks ill? Did you-”
“Farore.” For maybe the first time in his life, Legend actually managed a half decent growl. Sure, he still squeaked a bit, but it was low and harsh enough to nearly count.
“How-” Nayru frowned, blinking slowly at the smithy seated on the couch while Din waved to him quietly.
“Boys, is everything-” Time’s voice was cut off as the three Oracles spun to stare at him, color draining from their faces as Din buried her face in her hands, Farore tensed and Nayru stiffened, sharp blue eyes turning to Legend with a glare.
“I told you to never play with the Harp of Ages!”
“I didn’t!” Legend snapped back, glaring up at the older girl with something similar to a pout. For the other two heroes, had it not been for the painful tension of the situation, they may have smiled at how much the interaction looked like a pair of siblings arguing over a valued toy.
“Then how is he-” Nayru flung a hand out to point at Time, who stood awkwardly in the doorway. “-here?” The Oracle faltered, gaze turning back to Time in confusion before settling on Legend again. “Wait, which hero is that again?”
“Ouch.” Time deadpanned, completely on instinct.
“Hero of Time.” Legend returned with a scowl.
“Wait.” Farore stared from one hero to another in confusion. “Isn’t he dead? Linky, are you- have you been rescuing-”
“This one didn’t die.” Legend returned, looking increasingly done with the situation while Time and Four both winced.
“Split timelines, remember, Fare?” Din offered with a pained smile.
Nayru scowled, pinching the bridge of her nose as her other hand settled on her hip. “Link, I swear, the Harp of Ages isn’t even supposed to be able to cross realities! Do you know what you’ve done? Link, I know you miss her, but searching across time and space for her just doesn’t work! You’re going to-”
“I didn’t use the freaking harp!” Legend shouted, and to the surprise of both of the others, tears were gathering in his eyes. “So could you just not-” The vet’s voice broke as teary indigo glared up into startled ocean blue. “Could you just not bring that up? I know better, Nayru! Besides, which one of us is it that broke the timeline last time, huh?”
“That wasn’t me.” The blue-haired maiden sighed. “We both know I had no control over any of what happened. But your point stands, I’m- I’m sorry for accusing you.”
“Good.” Legend wrapped his arms around himself, a single tear trickling down his scowling face as Din flew over and wrapped him in a hug. “Oh, Sunshine, she didn’t mean it! We’re just worried is all, you know that, right?” The vet didn’t answer, but he did melt into the hold of the young woman as she patted his back gently.
The others chose that moment to make their respective appearances, peeking around Time to see Nayru standing awkwardly beside the embracing Oracle and Hero while Farore and Four exchanged a Look.
“Legend, who is this?” Hyrule frowned, instant regret flooding over his face as he saw Legend swipe the end of his over-long sleeve over his face with a violent sniffle and a huff, releasing Din as the red-head sighed sadly.
“The Golden Goddesses.” Time answered instead, nodding politely to the three ladies, who all offered him awkward smiles in return.
“The Oracles actually.” Nayru corrected with a strained smile. “Apologies, Forest Hero.” She inclined her head respectfully. “I meant no disrespect, it’s only that you are quite similar in appearance to another hero from this world, one that is near and dear-” The woman’s voice stuttered to a halt as she stared at the others peeking out from behind the eldest hero.
The room fell to silence for a brief moment as Nayru’s face fell, eyes widening dramatically as her shoulders slumped. “Is that- Link, how many Heroes of Courage are in your home?”
“Nine.” Legend huffed, crossing his arms and looking anywhere else but at the girl. “Counting me anyway.”
“Nine Heroes of Courage.” The Oracle repeated, dumbstruck, before rubbing her hands over her face. “That’s like half of all of Hylia’s Heroes in all! Why? Why would so many be gathered in one place? How did you even meet them?”
The vet shrugged, still not meeting the baby-blue eyes that turned his way in desperation. “A lizard. Also, portals.”
From where she was now sitting next to Four, Farore nodded. “That sounds just bizarre enough to be true.”
At Nayru’s nod of agreement, Din reached out to ruffle Legend’s pink hair. “Just like you to get pulled along in something like that, isn’t it, Link?”
The soft chuckle earned a hesitant smile from the vet as the others pushed further into the room, only to freeze again as Nayru’s startled again, staring across the room at Warriors, eyes full of horror. “Oh no. Not you!”
The captain blinked in surprise, offense taking over as he stared at the young woman. “Excuse me?”
Nayru shook her head, no long paying attention as she cupped her cheeks. “No, not the blasted Hero of Warriors! Oh, why me!”
“Okay, now that’s just offensive.” The captain huffed, crossing his arms indignantly as Legend chuckled softly.
Sharp blue eyes made the captain still again as the Oracle of Ages whimpered softly. “Of all the people in your home, Link, you had to have the one Hylian that my daughters obsess over? Why?”
All eyes turned to the vet, who now looked similarly dumbfounded and horrified, blinking slowly at nothing as one hand buried itself in his long bangs. “My niece has a crush on-” the vet viably gagged, face screwing up as he looked up to meet the confused stare of the captain, “-Oh my gross!”
“Seriously?” Warriors huffed with a glare before throwing his hands up, voice raising slightly as he spoke. “Could someone kindly explain why all of you suddenly find me disgusting?”
“Not you.” Din laughed. “My nieces just have something of an obsession with you, and Nayru’s sick of it. Add to that that-”
“Of all the people,” Legend interrupted with a horror filled mumble. “For my nieces to have a crush on, it had to be my brother? Just- oh that is just so incredibly gross!” Violet met twinkling red as the vet leaned back to stare at Din. “Why do the ladies in my family always have such weird taste in men?”
“Says the guy who had a crush on his now sister.” Farore sniggered, now fully wrapped up in the blankets with Four, despite no one having noticed either of them move. The smithy didn’t appear to mind either, his smile matching that of the Oracle of Secrets’, even if he didn’t appear to know exactly what was going on any more than the rest of them.
“It wasn’t a crush!” Legend near shrieked, stiffening as his face turned nearly as red as the long hair that shimmered in the firelight behind him. “You get asked to dance by a girl you don’t know and see how you act!”
Nayru, now somewhat recovered, grinned impishly at the blushing hero. “That’s right, besides, I’m pretty sure our little brother had a crush on a certain farm girl.”
“I didn’t like Ropely like that!” The vet huffed, brightening further. “Or Malon, if that’s what you’re implying. She’s my freaking cousin and that would just be gross.”
“Malon is your what now?” Time blinked, confused.
“I have a Malon in my time too.” Four offered, very unhelpfully, as the eldest hero looked like he was descending into mental acrobatics. “She works near castle town and even lives on a ranch. I think Malons are a constant in our worlds, just like Zeldas.”
“I don’t have a Malon...” Wind mused quietly while Time began to look increadibly distressed.
“It’s a family name.” Legend huffed, rolling his eyes as his blush began to fade. “Mine was named after our great-something-gramma. The same is probably true of Mamalon, Time. She’s probably named after an ancestor from Four’s time or something.”
“Great!” The smallest Oracle exclaimed with a clap of her hands. “Now that we’ve got that out of the way, can I please make you recognize that my babies are in one place for once?”
Her sisters stared at her, blinking slowly. “Um, Fare, that’s sort of why Nayru just had a freak out?” Legend snorted but his...sister? Ignored it.
“Yes but,” Farore nodded at Four, who she’d once more wrapped in her arms. “Look!”
And they did. Four was cuddled up with a resigned smile, looking positively tiny in the Oracle’s hold and, admittedly, rather cute. There was not one person in the room left unaffected, and several actually cooed when Farore hugged him tightly, burying her face in the smithy’s hair. “All of my babies, I love you all so very much!”
Warriors laughed at that, shaking his head. “What, do the Golden Goddesses have favorite heroes too? I thought that was just Hylia!”
“Unfortunately, that is the case.” Nayru shrugged. “We can’t help getting attached, just like any other Hylian.”
“Who are who’s favorites?” Wind chirped; eyes eager as he stared from one Oracle to another.
It was Din who answered, wrapping her arms around Legend’s shoulders as she stood behind him, smile warm even in the chill of the evening as she stared at the sailor hero. “Sunshine here’s mine, he’s my baby brother after all!”
“Adopted, as all of our other siblings are.” The Oracle of Ages interjected, earning her a pout from her sister and a laugh from the heroes.
“Nayru’s favorite is the Hero of Time, it’s why she calls him by a nickname, and Farore, well...” The red-head grinned to where the youngest of the three Oracles was cooing and fussing over Four. “I think you can guess.”
“Do any of you have second favorites?” Wind pressed, curiosity flickering in ocean blue and silver.
“I haven’t had enough experience with most of the other heroes to really say, although the Hero of Wild’s never fails to make me laugh when I watch him through Nayru’s mirrors.” The Saesonal Oracle laughed, making the hero in question flush lightly. “Both for his pranks and clever antics, and, of course, having a horse named after you means you simply have to adore the owner!”
“Farore has several favorites, she’s just only ever interacted with Link and Four.” Nayru chuckled. “She’s quite fond of those who had to strive for Courage though, so I suppose the Hero of Hyrule and the Hero of Winds likely tie for her second favorite.” The two boys in question grinned brightly at each other. “As for myself, I find that as the Keeper of Time, I have quite the fondness for its hero. Although, my baby brother and brother-in-law are also dear to me.” Twinkling blue settled on Sky’s flushed face as the Oracle winked. “Hylia could have chosen no one better to be her lover, and I approve the match wholeheartedly.”
Sky proceeded to flush a color o one had known existed and quickly lower himself to the floor, smiling madly and covering hisface with his hands, earning tender laughter from the blue-haired maiden as she turned her attention back towards the other heroes.
“And for some reason, I’m the only hero left unfavorited.” The captain sulked.
“If it’s any consolation.” Farore called out. “Our other baby sister thinks you’re cute! She says she’s glad you married her daughter!” The Captain Hero choked, and it was only due to Twilight thumping the others back that the poor man didn’t choke right then and there. “The same goes for the Twilight Hero, Lolia absolutely adores him!”
“How did the same goddess choose us both? We are nothing alike?”
Warriors coughed in what might have been agreement.
Farore only shrugged. “I suppose it’s the same reason she adores Ravio so much, it’s the hero who makes an impression on her world that earns her favor.”
The heroes in question took their time processing that, and in the meantime, Legend darted off toe retrieve dry things for his elder sisters, only to come back to Ravio chattering to the three, who’d now gathered on the same couch as Legend and Four had been on earlier, all answering his questions fondly and politely while Farore continued to suffocate Four with hugs. The smithy didn’t seem to mind though, resting easily, eyes glimmering reddish-brown in the fire-light as the Oracle of Secrets toyed with his ong hair.
“I brought warm clothes.” Legend called, offering the things with a brief shuffle of his feet. “They’re Fable’s, but I don’t think shell mind.”
Ravio frowned, looking up at the offered garments with furrowed brows. “Are you sure that will warm them enough, Mr. Hero? It would be horrible if your poor sisters caught cold!” Grenn flickered knowingly, and Legend huffed as he met the expectant gaze.
“Fine, I’ll brew some cider, since I expect that’s what you suggest?”
“Oh! Mr. Hero, how kind of you! I didn’t mean to ask, but since you’ve offered I’m sure your lovely sisters will love to have some!”
Din straightened in her seat, eyes sparkling brightly. “Cider? Oh, Link! I haven’t had your cider in ages! Please make some! I’d actually kill for a cup about now!”
And really, who was the veteran hero to argue with the will of the Oracle of Seasons?
“He’s made you cider before?” The Oracle of Ages frowned.
“Oh, all the time! The whole circus troupe loved it! Auntie Impa always used to beg him for the recipe, but it was that one thing she could never convince him about. It’s absolute heaven, Nay! You’re going to love it!”
The bluette huffed, crossing her arms and faking a put. “He never made me any cider.”
“Because you tried to kill me!” Legend’s voice called back from the kitchen, making the three girls startle slightly. “If you hadn’t, maybe you could have tried some along with Ralph and Raven.”
“I wasn’t- I was- Link!” Nayru spluttered as a cackle arose from the kitchen. “I was under mind control!”
“Still tried to kill me!” The vet chirped back with far too much cheer considering what he was saying. And really, none of the others could argue his point, either because they didn’t understand what was being discussed or because it was true.
Cider was passed around after a brief wait, during which the others had made idle small talk and Farore had finally agreed to release Four from her grasp. The short hero still sat at her side, trading smiles with the three Oracles as he chatted amiably with them, clearly familiar with all three and quite happy to see them again, even with the drama from before.
No one brought up what Farore had meant about ‘rescuing’ him.
When Legend finally emerged from the kitchen, Ravio’s tray stacked high with mugs of steaming cider, silence had quickly fallen save for the quiet sips and louder slurps of the three as Legend handed out the mugs, finishing with the three Oracles and promptly plopping himself down in their midst, entirely uncaring of the looks they exchanged over his head while Four shifted a bit closer to his brother.
“Link,” Nayru settled her mug in her lap and stared over at the pink-haired hero, unfortunately gaining the attention of the rest of the chain in the process. “About earlier, I really am sorry for accusing you. It was wrong of me to assume-”
“You already apologized, it’s fine.” Legend cut her off, yawning softly as he sipped his cider.
“No, it’s not. But I’d like to make it up to you.” The mug was set aside as long fingers had begun to glow with a soft blue, catching the vet’s eyes and making him stare as the Orale of Ages waved her fingers gently, a blue orb appearing in her grasp as a soft smile graced her delicate features. “Anything you’d like to see, baby brother?”
Violet eyes stared fixed on the orb, glistening slightly with wonder as the vet floundered, nearly spilling his cider only to be rescued by Four’s quick thinking as the smithy removed the mug from his grasp. “A-anything?”
“Anything.” The Oracle reaffirmed.
Legend stammered softly for a moment. “C-Could I see Raven? Where he is now?”
There was some murmuring from the others, curiosity and confusion in their tones as Nayru frowned. “Raven lived four-hundred years ago, Songbird, he’s dead now.”
“Oh- uh- I knew that.”
“I can show you what he was doing today four-hundred year ago though.” She laughed softly, spinning the orb in her hands slowly before turning it to face Legend. The veteran hero stared intently, brows furrowing slightly before his eyes widened and he was pushing back into the couch and away from the viewing orb.
“Oh yuck! Nayru! That- ew!” At the girls’ laugher he shot them all a glare. “I did not need to see a woman eating my mentor’s face!”
“That would be kissing.” Time smirked. “You’ll understand when you’re older.”
“That’s my ancestor though!”
“And I knew that would happen.” Nayru giggled. “That was a prank, here’s the actual thing.” A small child and a man looking suspiciously like Time appeared on the surface of the orb, both lying on the floor of what might have been a farm-house as the little one played with a few small toys, the man watching with a fond gaze as he relaxed, looking as if he wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.
“They look happy.” Legend hummed, gaze softening as he watched the duo a moment more before smiling up at his sister. “Thanks.”
The bluette smiled in return. “I accused yo twice though, so you may have a second. What else would you like?”
Anyone who was watching could see the conflicted emotions flying through Legend’s eyes as he stared at the now blank orb, the vet fidgeting with his rings and long sleeves as he gnawed his lower lip, torn about something that remained unknown to the others but clearly was tearing him up inside. At long last however, the vet’s voice, small and vulnerable, more so than they’d heard even when he was half asleep, spoke his request. “I’d like to see her.”
Ocean blue eyes softened as the Oracle nodded, spinning her orb slowly before handing it over to the vet as the scene of a beach crossed the surface of the ball.
A girl with curly red hair and sparkling eyes sat on the beach, voice rich and lovely as she sang ou a tune that had the vet’s eyes watering as he smiled as the vision, his brothers crowding close curiously as several of them muffled soft gasps.
“Marin?” The voice of a boy rang from the orb, gentle, uncertain and young, but resemblant of Legend’s own in an odd, gentle way.
“Link! Don’t startle me like that!” The girl laughed, shaking her head and making her curls bounce as she smiled over at a boy maybe a bit older than Wind. The lad was dark haired, but pink showed through at his roots and while he carried a sword on his back, he looked relaxed and at peace with the world around him, face gentle and unmarred by worries or fears as he walked across the sand to where the girl sat. A dopey smile and light blush touched the kid’s face as the girl, Marin, gently patted the sand at her side. “Join me, you’re done running errands for everyone now, right?”
“For today.”
“Good.” The girl reached up, tugging ‘Link’ down next to her firmly. “Lay down.”
“What?”
“Lay down.” Marin ordered. “You need a break. You’re always running everywhere and helping eveyone else, you need a bit of time to yourself.”
A smile pulled at the boy’s features. “Yes ma’am.”
The girl snorted, but patted her lap and tugged at the green tunic of the other, resulting in him at last laying on the sand, head in her lap as she smiled down at him. “You’re going to rest now, because tomorrow is a busy day for us.”
“Oh?” Already there was a dreamy quality to the boy’s voice as he relaxed into the hold of the girl, her fingers tugging gently through tangled black hair as she nodded.
“Yes. We have to sleep in until nine, and then eat a big breakfast before taking a long walk on the shore. Then, you’re going to help me conquer a huge basket lunch before you can then defeat being awake for an hour. After that, we have to chase the tide until it tires, and then dance in victory over the ground that it’s lost.” The boy laughed softly, lashes already fluttering softly across rosy cheeks as the girl continued. “Then, you and I are going to sit here and watch the sun go down, and we will sing it to sleep along with the island until the sun comes up.”
“And what then?”
“And then we do as we please!”
“We build a fire.” The boy hummed. “And I’m going to make you cider so good you’ll be ruined for any of your silly teas.”
“Hey!” The girl huffed, purposefully jostling the lad’s head as she huffed down at him. “My teas are good!”
“Not as good as my cider.” The boy replied, opening one eyes to grin up at her, a cheeky smile on his face. “Just you wait, you’ll see.”
Marin shook her head, eyes glistening gently as she ran her fingers through Link’s hair again. “I suppose I will.”
The orb shattered as it hit the floor, dissipating instantly as the heroes collectively startled.
“Legend?” Four rested a hand on the vet’s shoulder, staring in concern at the other boy, who hid behind his bangs with a faint sniffle.
“Thanks , Nayru.”
“Do you want me to fix it? I can give you another-”
“No, I know what happens.” Legend waved her off, sighing heavily and offering a teary smile. “I just wanted to see her again.”
“Well then you should have said something!” Warriors exclaimed, catching the attention of all gathered as he stared at the vet, caught between a grin and a scowl “Had I known you were Marin’s prince charming I would have said something by now! For pities sakes, the girls have been trying to hunt down her world since the war ended!”
Legend blinked.
“She’s still not home?” Wind frowned. “But, it’s been months!”
“No one knew where she belonged, she didn’t even know, said she knew nothing of Hyrule’s history, only that there was a hero.” The captain shook his head. “Hard to believe the sweet hero she described is this here ass, but who am I to judge?”
“She’s alive?” Legend stared.
“Yes,” The captain smiled slightly, gaze warming as he met the vet’s. “But between Cia, Lana and Midna, we never-”
“Midna too!” Twilight exclaimed, pushing into Warriors’ line of vision with a shocked face and watching the captain immediately fly through every shade of shock imaginable.
“Love of the goddess...” Warriors breathed. “Both of you? The two famed sweethearts of my team are the biggest asses I know? You have got to be kidding me!”
The Oracles laughed, or in Farore’s case, cackled, at the plight of the captain, and the other heroes joined in.
“Wars, I’m not even mad.” legend chuckled, shaking his head, and Twilight nodded in agreement. “But I will say this, we can’t get to your Hyrule soon enough, and when we get there, Time, know for a fact that I don’t need to wait till I’m older to understand that thing earlier.”
“Okay, that's just gross!” Wind exclaimed. “I do not want to see Legend kissing someone! That’s just- oh yuck!”
The vet threw his head back and laughed, and no one could really help but join in. Except Wind, who scrunched up his nose in disgust while Wild and Hyrule shared a confused look.

When everybody turns into an oracle
Summary: Nothing puts more pressure on you than other people teling you your grade will be perfect, because behind that stands so much more than a number on a sheet of paper. Same goes for Spencer's daughter.
Warnings: School, grades, angst (there is fluff and a badass moment), fear of failure/disappointing someone
Wordcount: 1.5k
✨Masterlist✨ __________________________________
“I really pooped this quiz. What about you, (Y/N)?” Before the teenager is able to answer, another classmate comes up from behind the two. “She’ll get a 100, like always.”
“I-I don’t know. Question two and three really got me there, I’m just happy to pass it.” The little group of people around her groans.
“You always say that.” “And get a perfect score”, the first one adds, “Just stop to make us look bad, because we really do have to worry about passing this class. What do you have to worry about? Getting straight A’s like that. I really want your problems.”
(Y/N) just keeps it quiet. She stopped a long time ago trying to defend herself. ‘I am on my way to the BAU’, she shoots a text to her father and exits the school building. Today she doesn’t take the train. There are too many noises and all she wants is some peace.
The words of her classmates echoes through her head. Yes, she always has a good score and she intends to keep it up. She is just doing her best, right? Her problems have to be still valid, don’t they?
“Ahh, Wonder Baby. I thought you forgot about us and decided you are too cool to hang out with us”, Derek calls out after her as soon as he spots his godchild. “Nah, Uncle Derek. Nobody can be too cool to hang out with you. I just hadn’t had much time because of school work. But there are only two weeks left before spring break starts and the only thing I have to do now is waiting for my results.”
“Right, Spencer told us you are stressing yourself out about those. Your last quiz was today, wasn’t it? The one you dread the most apparently?” Emily joins the conversation. “Uh, I did. But don’t get your hopes up too high, I really don’t have a clue what I did there. The grade can range between passed to 100.”
“Naw, Smartypants, you say that every time. What are you afraid of? Telling us you are real smart? Don’t be humble, we work with your father. We know how to handle geniuses.” Derek isn’t exactly helping her with that. (Y/N) just turns red and tries to change the subject. “Uh, no. Another thing: Where is Dad?”
“Spencer went to pick some reports from the M.E. in D.C. who helped us on the last case. He should be back in half an hour. But Penelope wants to see you, something about trying new vegan cookies she baked last night”, JJ informs (Y/N) as she passes the group to drop some files off.
For the remainder of the day the teenager hides out in the lair, blocking any human reaction out with her earphones. She just can’t handle any more insensitive stuff like earlier. Later her father picks her up to go home together.
“So, Emily told me you didn’t do well on your test today? Do you wanna talk about it?” He asks, choosing his words carefully as he prepares dinner with his daughter sitting at the kitchen table and watching him. The doctor knows the pressure created by asking his daughter about school related topics.
“I don’t know. Everyone keeps telling me I’ll get a perfect score and I think it’s admirable that all of them turn out to be able to look into the future. How do they know better than me what I get?”
It’s months of pent up stress and anxiety finally making its way up to the surface. (Y/N) tries to fight the tears down. “I really don’t understand this. I get asked how I did, I tell them I don’t feel good about the test and then they talk over me every single time. And when I say I don’t know it, I say it to not get anybody’s hope up high. I don’t want to disappoint anybody.” Finally tears stream down the teenager’s cheeks.
“Oh Sweetheart”, Spencer makes his way over to her and engulfs his daughter in a hug. “Shhh, don’t cry. I know it’s incredibly difficult to live up to their expectations, but you don’t need to. You don’t need to impress them, because their opinion doesn’t matter. Neither your classmate’s, your teacher’s nor the team’s. Not even mine should be important to you. Also, it doesn’t matter what you do, I’ll always be so proud of you, words can’t even describe it. There is literally nothing you can disappoint me with. You pushed and still push through so much crap and still you don’t fail to amaze me. You can never fail to amaze me. You can fail any class and become a professional card counter, I’ll still be proud to be your father. Please don’t cry over something you shouldn’t care about.”
They remain like this for several minutes, grasping each other until (Y/N)’s tears eventually die down. “I just want to be something more than just the smart girl with the good grades. I don’t want to feel like a two dimensional side character in a show, only there to provide the main characters with knowledge. I don’t want to be Velma, River Song, Frozone or Domino from Deadpool 2. I don’t want to be overlooked like this anymore.”Finally talking about her deepest insecurities lets her feel like a weight is lifted off her shoulders.
“And you are so much more”, Spencer encounters, “Some people just choose to ignore it, because you are so much more than their small brain with a low capacity is able to comprehend. They just pick the trait they understand the easiest. But never stop being you. Stay loud, stay complicated and, if you want to stay, uncomfortable for them. The right people will take the time and effort to get to know the real you, not just a copy others think you are. I know, it takes a great amount of patience to wait for them, but it’s worth it in the end. You hear me?”
(Y/N) looks up at her father, a small smile forming on her face. He would walk to the end of the world if it means to see it. “I hear you, Dad. Thank you so much.”
This night the teenager doesn’t get a lot of sleep. There are many thoughts that want to be, well, thought through. Still she wakes up and goes to school with a new amount of confidence.
This sadly only lasts until her first period. The teacher, one who is typically known for grading student’s work pretty fast, gives back yesterday’s quizzes. A small tumoult ensues as everyone compares their scores with each other.
(Y/N)’s anxiety rises into the unmeasurable until her teacher puts down her worksheet without a word. Confused she looks at the B- sitting at the dotted line, where the grade is supposed to be.
Now, a B- isn’t bad or anything, but she spots several answers her teacher didn’t tick as right or wrong. He must have oversaw them. Deciding to ask him about it after class, she puts it away and focuses on the material he is teaching.
So there she is, waiting for other classmates asking their questions regarding the quiz until it’s her turn. Meanwhile her lab partner Masey comes up to the teenager. “And, how did you do?”
“Uh, I got a B- bu-” “Oh my god, I’m better than the class nerd. I’m better than The Brain. Casey, I got a higher score than (Y/N)! I think you, too! Wow, I didn’t know I’m that smart. But no worries, (Y/N). I can explain this unit to you later, so you can do better next time.” This is the final straw for her.
“Hold on a sec, Masey. I’ll get that A, because Mr Harries didn’t see some of my answers. And just for your information: I didn’t ask you about your grade last time, because I knew you would poop that one after trying to explain it to you for four times while I got another A. Like every single time until now. Stop trying to appear cleverer than you are, it doesn’t suit you as much as these pants don't, because they are at least two sizes too small.”
The line finally moves up and (Y/N) is able to show Mr Harries his mistakes. He apologizes profusely, admitting that he maybe was too tired to grade these last quizzes and rewrite the B- to an A.
With her head held high she walks past her classmates, a content smile on her face.
It may be a long road to accept that you can’t be perfect and your grades don’t have to be, but forget this for a second and appreciate the feeling you get proving someone wrong like this.

Whacky Gotham, Goofy New York, and Chaotic Paris.
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8)
Chapter 6: Evade The Bats, and Beat The Crows
•—–—–·†·–—–—•
The girls are in the old living room setting up clues (that are absolutely... useless) around Gotham. One being a picture Harley and Multimouse took earlier that day.
"They might think to look here after they realize the clues are fake." - Steph
"Then where else would they not think to look?" - Maria
"W.E, I can get you and Harley in without them knowing easily." - Barbara said with a confident smile.
"But they'll have to go incognito... especially you Harley, no offense, but your outfit stands out just a tad." - Steph
"Ehhh, none taken, I'm sure I can tink of somthin' else tuh wear." - Harley
"I can help with that, but I'll need some clothes and some sewing supplies." - Maria said already thinking of what she could make.
Cass gave a nod and headed out of the room, after a few minutes she came back with t-shirts, jackets, sweaters, shorts, jeans, etc. and droped the pile of clothes infront of the group. She then handed Maria a sewing set she got from Alfred.
"Thanks Cass. I'll get to work on making our costumes." - Maria
"Let me help yuh wit' dat hun." - Harley said as she picked up most of the clothes for Maria
"Thanks." Maria
•—–·Let's see the Chaos shall we·–—•
"You never told us she could use magic!" - Red Hood looking under the table
"I wonder if she can infuse magic with coffee..." - Red Robin said looking in the cabinets for the third time.
"Stop looking for coffee!" - Red Hood
"She could've hidden in here." - Red Robin said while crabbing a mug
"I haven't had enough sleep to deal with this." - Selina then walked over and flopped herself on the couch and proceeded to fall asleep on impact.
"Maria get your tiny self back here right now or else!" - Tony
"Or else what? She Knows MAGIC! What else does she know that you haven't told us?!" - Red Hood
"... I never told you becuase it's meant to be a secret!" - Tony
"Oh, so now you agree with keeping things a secret?" - Red Robin grabbing the coffee
"What else can she do Tony." - Batman
"Well... she's great with tech, can kick butt in a LOT of different ways, has magic, and if she wants to, she can find and know where everyone or anyone is, but I think she gets massive headaches from a wide search like that." - Tony
"Anything else?" - Batman
(Tony thinkng of all the tiny gods she has in jewelery, and that she keeps Paris/friends and family safe on a daily basis, and that she is the well known designer MDC...)"No..." - Tony
As ivy was listening to them talk, she continued to search her garden, until one of her plants had a message fo her.
"Hello Ms. Ivy, please don't help Batman and Iron Man find us, we promise we'll be careful." - Maria
"Where are you?" - Ivy asked whispering into the plant.
After a few minutes Ivy got a detailed plan that Maria, Harley and the girls came up with to evade The IronBat group (Maria thought that would be better than ManMan group 'But it's Bat MAN and Iron MAN, so it has tuh be The ManMan group.' was Harleys defence, but Maria won that one.) and Ivy agreed to help as best she could.
•—–· Over to the Miraculous gang ·–—•
Plagg is cackling like there's no tomorrow.
"Guys something must be wrong, Plagg won't stop cackling, he won't even touch the cheese I gave him!!!" - Adrien
"There's no time for that, we need to find out where the hell Maria is!!" - Chloé
"Hahahaha, Ti- heheh Tikk- pffhaaaaaaahaha!!!" - Plagg
"He's trying to form words!" Adrien cradling Plagg in his hands "What is it my friend? Don't do this, you're to young...*sniff * you're to beautiful!"
"Hehehehe Shhhh- hahaha, she- she- haha...heheh- I'm so p-hehe-Proud wahahaha " - Plagg
"Proud?! She?! Where?! Who, is it Maria?!" - Chloé
"Hhhhhhhhahhaaaaaaaaaa" - Plagg
"Oh God he's wheezing!" - Adrien
"Hey guys, Peter and I got the snacks, found out where Maria might- oh kwami." - Alix walking into the room to a zombie looking Chloé, a panicked Adrien and the Kwami of death/bad luck/chaos laughing himself to death.
"Has he finally lost it?" - Peter
"She has become a true cat! hahahahahaaaaa heheheheeeeeee." - Plagg
Everyone in the room but Plagg "Oh fu-"
•—–· Over to the Batfam ·–—•
So everyone is panicking because for the past hour none of them could find Multimouse. Robin is sitting on the couch next to a now fully awake Selina, Red Hood and Nightwing are once again feeding each other the worst possible situation she could be in, Tony may or may not be hyperventilating, Red Robin is drinking coffee, and Batman is as stoic as ever... well on the outside anyway, on the inside, it's a warzone. Ivy is drinking her tea, slightly worried, but also hiding a small smile.
"What if we ask Oracle to try and help us find her?" - Red Robin
"... Right... Yes, ok let's do that... Bats you do it, I need to sit down." - Tony
•—–· Back to the girls ·–—•
The girls moved everything to the Bat-cave so they could set the route they would take, then the Bat-Computer started ringing.
"Hide!" - Steph
"Where, dere's nuttin' tuh hide behind!" - Harley
"Quick under the Bat-Computer." - Barbara
As soon as Harley and Maria hid under the Bat-Computer, Batman and the rest of the Batfam was on video call.
"Hey guys, what do you need?" - Barbara acting like nothing happened
"We need you to search for Maria, she's in a dark gray suit with pink accents, and she's with Harley." - Batman
"Ok, no prob, I'll contact you when I've found something." - and with that Barbara exited the call.
"Should we start heading out?" - Maria
"Yup, and here are your ID badges, don't lose them. I'll give our Batfam fake sightings, and lead them far away, then once you reach W.E I'll slowly start leading them closer to you." - Barbara
"Thanks, keep in touch if they decide to split up." - Maria
"Roger that." - Steph said giving a solute
•—–·–—•
Soon Multimouse and Harley are running over roof tops again, doing tricks, and stopping petty crimes, Barbara is leading the Batfam all over Gotham, and then they got to W.E, after Maria transformed back, they entered the building. Thanks to Babs, they entered without any problems and had free roam for the entire building, with some exceptions like new weapons designs, or the roof. They were hiding in the building for about an hour on the 7th floor when Barbara called in.
"Hey girls, you might want to be careful, I spotted some of Scarecrows goons a few blocks away, they seem to be heading in your direction, I'd say about 6mins tops until they reach W.E. Best to find a good room to stay in, or get out of there." - Barbara
"Thanks fawh de heads up Babs." - Harley
"Ok, we'll try to get out, let us know if we should turn back or not." - Maria
"Got it, and be careful." - Barbara
Maria and Harley then made their way back down, they were taking the stairs, because they figured it would be quicker, once they were on the second floor, they started to calmly make their way through the doors of the stairwell. That's when Scarecrows goons busted in, shouting for everyone to get down, Harley made sure to stay as close to Maria as possible as the goons gathered everyone to a wall. They were told to not move, talk, or do anything to anger them, once everyone was up against the wall, that's when Scarecrow came in. As he entered the room some of the employees started to look very scared, when Maria looked over to Harley, she saw her mouth 'it's ok', afterwards the goons had them all tied up and on the floor sitting down. Scarecrow scanned them before speaking.
"One of you will be testing my newest and most potent fear toxin as of yet. We can do this one out of two ways." He said lifting up two of his needle syringed fingers. "1. You can be a hero, and let yourself be my newest test subject, aka the boring way or 2. I pick whoever I want, aka the slightly less boring way. Now, who wants to go first?"
•—–· Over to Batman ·–—•
The Batfam was running around the other side of Gotham, now without Tony, because someone ( ehem Thor, ehem) was making a giant mess at Avengers Tower, and was fighting Loki... again. It was when they decided to call Oracle that things took another turn.
"Oracle have you foun- " - Batman
"They're at W.E. and Scarecrows there, I can't get in contact with them, and I can't get into the cameras at the moment, I need you to get your butts over there now!" - Oracle
"Wait you were in contact with them?!" - Red Hood
"Not the time! Just get over there before someone gets hurt!" - Oracle
"We're on our way." - Batman
They all then kicked it into high gear and were running to W.E, and out of everyone, Damian seemed to be the most visibly panicked, if him running twice as fast as everyone was any indication. At the speed they were going, they would be there in 20mins or less... hopefully.
•—–· Back to Maria and Harley ·–—•
So while Scarecrow was giving his little speech, Maria whispered into a plant to let Ivy know their situation, she wasn't able to get an answer before she and Harley were pulled away from the crowd.
"And what do we have here? Harley Quinn and a child. How interesting, well then, which one of you would like to test my new fear toxin?" - Scarecrow
"Eh, do me, I bet I got a lot o' trauma and fears from my time wit' Mistuh J. dat yuh would just love tuh see." - Harley
"... As tempting as that sounds I think I'll test it on your little friend here, after all, I know better than to mess with one of the Sirens." - As Scarecrow said that, one of the goons dragged Maria over to him. She didn't panic, she was actually really calm, which worried Harley even more because, remember all that emotional trauma she saw Maria had? Yeah, not the best match for the fear toxin.
As Scarecrow grabbed Maria, she locked eyes with Harley, and gave a brief smile before she felt a sharp jabbing pain in the side of her neck. Her vision went hazy, and from Harleys' point of view, she went a little limp from it.
As Maria started to see again she could hear screams, car alarms going off, and explosion in the distance, when she looked up, she saw them, her friends, her team... her family, they were all there lying infront of her... none of them moving, all of them were lifeless, looking as though turned into a gray husk of what they once were, and beside them were all the Kwamis, and their respective Jewelery, broken and shattered. She felt the tears fall as she looked around. Paris, the once beautiful city of lights, was now a wasteland, everything had a gray tone to it, people, animals, everything that had life... was dead.
And then she heard laughing, a sick disturbing laugh that was all to familiar... Lila. When she turned and saw Vulpina, she felt sick just looking at her.
"You have failed Maria, everyone you knew and loved is gone, all because you weren't here." - Lila
All she felt in that moment... was pure anger, she began to struggle, but somthing was holding her. She kept hearing that stupid laugh, and kept struggling harder and harder.
"You were never good enough, you were meant to always be our everyday Ladybug, but you never were, you never cared for us, and that's why, they're all gone, because you weren't good enough." - Lila
The last four words kept playing over and over in her head, until something clicked, she wasn't in Paris, so how did she get there? The last place she was at... was with Harley, she was in the W.E. building, and had fear toxin injected into her. As she came to that realization, she could hear the laughing fade just a bit, she closed her eyes and focused on finding everyone's souls, when she did, she saw that Scarecrow was right infront of her, a goon next to Harley, and a goon behind her, the other goons had left and were on the first floor. She snapped back when she heard Lilas' voice again.
"You always were stubborn and never accepted the real truth, as class president aren't you supposed to just roll over and do as you're told." - Lila
Maria was done listening to her, and decided to kick Lila in the face (since someone didn't think to tie up her ankles.)
"Just go rott in hell already you lieing fox!" - Maria
Maria didn't get any answer, all she knew was that she hit whatever was really infront of her hard. Maria then heard Lilas' voice morph into a heavier, more distorted voice.
"That's a first, guess I'll have to increase the dosage." - Scarecrow
She then felt another jabbing pain in her neck, all she could do was scream from the pain, her head was spinning, and all she could hear was laughing, sickening laughter that came from both Lila, and now Hawkmoth. One thing Scarecrow didn't account for, was the deep hatred Maria held for both individuals he made her see. Because soon after he gave her more fear toxin she got her footing, pushing back into the goon behind her before using the goons' grib on her to do a half backflip into kicking the guys face in, quickly knocking the goon out, when she stood back up she only saw Hawkmoth, surrounded by her lifeless team and family, she only saw red, and charge right at him. She kept punching and roundhouse kicking him, giving one final charge, ramming into Hawkmoth before she felt weightless. She never heard the panicked scream Harley let out, she never heard the shouts that came from the Batfam just reaching the second floor, before she hit something... something rapped around her holding her from falling any further, causing her to start thrashing around thinking it was Hawkmoth, before seeing he was also grabbed by something. She struggled ignoring the slight pain that went through her harms and legs. She slowly calmed down as she felt her feet touch the ground again, she then saw another Hawkmoth that was now mixed with Lila hug her, she tried to break free, but realized that it wasn't Lila or Hawkmoth... It was calming, and her voice was gentle, it was Ivy. She only heard a few words, that's when she felt something blow on her face, and after a few seconds, she lost conscientiousness.
Harley came sprinting down and was by Ivys' side in less than a minute. Ivy could tell Harley was worried and joined her in hugging a now sleeping Maria.
"I'm sawhry Ives, It all just happened so fast, and she was so awesome at kickin' Cranes @ss, I din't get her out of dere quick enough." - Harley said as she looked Ivy in the eyes, with tears threatening to escape.
"It's alright Harley, none of this is your fault." - Ivy replied comfortingly to Harley
As the two hugged Maria Batman came over.
"We'll take it from here." - Batman
"Hell no. We ain't leavin' her side." - Harley
Batman just let out a sigh, after he dealt with Scarecrow and his goons, Batman, along with his sons, Ivy and Harley, all headed back to the Bat-cave where the other girls and Alfred were waiting.
If anyone noticed Robin looking over to Maria with a concerned look, they just ignored it, and continued their way back home.

That pesky sexual tension
Summery: Hi! In case you write for Tim Drake, I’d love if you could write a smut in which Tim and the reader have known each other for long and the sexual tension is obvious but none of them ever acted upon it until now. Thank you very much.
Warnings: SMUT so if you’re not 18 begone thot, spanking, teasing, dirty talk, cheesy writing?
A/N: I tried to be a little more cute with this one so let me know what you think. And to the anon who requested this I’m sorry it took so long I hope you like it! Also this is my first ask!! So sorry if the format is a little strange I’m still trying to figure it out.
Word count: 3041
“Timothy Drake, I swear to god give me back my book!” you chased him into the kitchen where he ran to the other side of the counter.
“Why don't you come over here and make me.” He replied with a teasing smile on his face. You lunged forward across the cold counter top to reach for your book. He laughed at your struggle “Come on Y/N you know you never won a fight against me without someone helping you.”
Shit he had a point you thought, everyone else was out at the store. You gave up, sitting on the counter with you back to him and pouted. Arms crossed looking towards the open door. Laughing he walked over to face you.
“Aw come on I was just teasing.” he put his arms down on either side of you, trapping you in but you refused to look at him. “Come on look at me,” he leaned down to try and catch your gaze but you just moved your head. “Y/N?” he looked at you with wide eyes before they narrowed, “Y/N look at me.” His voice dropped into that commanding tone he used on patrol. You couldn’t help but look up to meet those blue eyes that bore into yours. The silence in the room was deafening. He leaned in closer and closer until your breath was his. Noses almost brushing. Lips almost touching. He glanced down at your lips.
The kitchen door burst open causing the two of you to jump apart as the rest of the boys walked in carrying grocery bags, chatting loudly. Dick and Jason froze in the doorway causing Damian to bump into them from behind.
“Now what do we have here?” Jason asked in a teasing voice.
“Nothing. Did you get my coffee?” Tim said, his voice back to normal.
“Did you put it on the list?” Dick asked, shooting you a strange look as you hopped off the counter, “what were you guys doing in here anyway?”
“Tim took my book right out of my hands so I had to get it back.” You replied.
“Damn I thought you were finally resolving that pesky sexual tension.” Jason said through a mouth full of marshmallows.
“Jason!” You, Tim, and Dick all yelled out.
“What! This has been going on for way too long. We were all thinking it” He tried to defend himself.
“We most certainly were not Master Jason,” Alfred came to save the day, “and please refrain from eating all the food before it's even put away.”
He grumbled before putting the bag away. You snached your book away from Tim before walking into the living room to finish reading.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Come on please Y/N just look it up! It won’t even take five minutes.” Tim pleaded with you, hiding a smile on his face.
“I thought you were the computer wiz, do it yourself.” You replied, not looking at him. He grabbed the back of your chair and spun you to face him. Kneeling down he looked in your eyes. “Please?” his voice was barely above a whisper as he leaned in closer, “for me?”
Your cheeks heated up. “I’m busy right now, go ask someone else.”
“Ok can you just check this one thing please?”
“Out!” You spun your chair away from him but he still leaned down and pressed a kiss to your head before walking away. You shook your head trying to clear the thoughts running through your head of the way his forearms flexed as he gripped the chair arms. The way his bright blue eyes looked like they wanted to devour you whole. Ugh this man is going to kill me you thought.
--------------------------------------------------------
That night you were working comms with Barbara in the cave. Things were going smoothly until Tim called in.
“Hey Oracle, hey angel, can you guys find out who that guy over there is and what he's doing please and thank you.” Your eyes went wide at the nickname he gave you. You could see Barbara looking at you out of the corner of your eye and heard Jason and Dick laughing though the comms. You ignored them as your fingers flew across the keyboard as facial rec worked its magic.
“His name is Jimmy Figgis. He’s fresh out of bellrev, he was in for drug dealing and black mail.” You said into the comms.
“Well it would be a shame if he got caught red handed doing a deal. He would go back to jail.” Barbara chimed in.
“Looks like we got a stake out boys.” Dick said.
“It's ok guys, I can stay for the drop.” Tim said, his voice low as he settled in for the night, “I'll have Y/N to keep me company, right angel?”
“I mean it's not like I have a choice do I.”
Not even half an hour later Tim started to get bored. And his target was you. Barbara had to leave to take care of some other stuff so you were alone. Tim decided it would be a good idea to switch frequencies and mess with you.
“Hey Y/N, have you ever thought about us while touching yourself?”
You spat out your coffee. “What the fuck Timothy!” You heard his laughter on the other side of the line.
“Well I'm just asking because I know for a fact that Dick thinks of Babs and Jason thinks of Diana sometimes but he would never admit it. And I got curious. Who do you think of?”
You could practically hear the smile in his voice. “Wouldn't you like to know. You really should focus on the stake out instead of my masturbation habits.”
“Aw angel I can almost see you blushing from here. You look adorable.”
“Shut up Tim.”
“Have I ever told you how much I love hearing you say my name? It sounds so sweet I can almost imagine what you would sound like screaming it underneath me.”
You froze. You and Tim had always had a flirtatious relationship but this was a new level entirely. This was dangerous territory. “Don't start things you can't finish Timothy.” Your voice was low.
“Oh believe me angel I always finish. And I make sure my partner does too.”
You threw your head back in frustration. “Focus on the stake out and we can continue this later.”
“Is that a promise?”
Before you could reply Bruce’s voice crackled through the comms “Red Robin we’re coming to you.”
-------------------------------------------------------------
A few arrests and fight later the bats rolled into the cave. Alfred was on standby with the medical kit but there was no need. You shifted uncomfortably as Tim’s eyes raked over your body, pausing on your legs that were squeezed together, trying and failing to give you relief from the ache in your pussy. He smirked at the site of you waiting for him, all needy.
“Good job tonight guys. Shower and get some sleep,” Bruce said, taking his cowl off, “I’m looking at you Tim.”
Tim just smiled. You both knew there would be no sleeping tonight. Tim walked over to you, his cowl was off and his dark hair was messy. Fuck he looked good you thought to yourself. The look on his face was calm but you could see something in his eyes. All the years you've known him, you had never seen this look in his eyes. It was dark and lit a fire inside you.
“Do you still want to do this? Because once we start, I'm not stopping.” his blue eyes stared into yours.
“I believe I have a promise to fulfill.”
He gave you a wicked smile. “I want you upstairs in my room, ten minutes. And no touching yourself.” He tapped your thighs that were pressed together before walking away.
-------------------------------------------------------
Your head was a mess by the time you headed up to Tim’s room. You had bid goodnight to the rest of the boys when your phone chimed. Tim had sent you a picture from the shower. Towel low on his hips showing off his v line, water droplets glistening off his abs, and the way his hand gripped his phone showed off all the muscles and veins in his arms. The wetness between your legs grew with every step towards his room. You knocked on his door, the loud sound of your knuckles against the wood echoed throughout the hallway.
“Come in.” His voice was muffled by the door. You walked in to find him sitting on a chair across from the bed in nothing but a pair of grey sweatpants. “Lock the door.” His voice was low and commanding, not unlike that day in the kitchen. That same electric energy that you felt then was in the room, now magnified by 100.
“I'm going to ask you one more time, are you sure you want this?”
“Yes Tim I’m sure.”
“Good girl,” the praise sent shivers down your spine, “Take off your clothes and lay down on the bed.” Your heart was beating out of your chest as you slowly took your shirt off. “I don't recommend teasing me angel, it won't work out well for you.” You just smiled as you turned around, taking your pants off while wiggling your ass tauntingly. You didn’t even hear him move before you felt a sharp pain across your backside. You moaned at the contact.
“Aw does my little angel like pain?” he questioned mockingly before coming down on you again, “I asked you a question Y/N, I expect and answer.”
“Yes sir.” You heard him laugh behind you. He wrapped his hand in your hair and pulled you up against his warm chest. “Well isn't that a nice surprise. I always knew you had a thing for authority.” His voice was low in your ear. Your head went back to rest on his shoulder as he kissed his way down your neck, sucking and biting the skin there. His movements against your body are slow and calculating. Tim always seemed gentle and calm but the truth is that no one knows how he respresed his emotions, and his needs. But tonight he was going to take whatever he wanted. And you would let him.
“What do you have to say for yourself?” His hands caressed your skin.
“I’m sorry sir.”
“Sorry for what?”
You took a shallow breath. He was really going to make you work tonight. “For teasing you.”
He turned you around to face him. “Such a good girl for me, aren’t you?” He said softly, brushing your hair out of your face, before kissing your lips gently. Looking into his eyes you could never tell what he was thinking. His face was calm and passive. That is until he let go. And you would do whatever it takes to see him lose control. Even if that meant misbehaving.
“Get on the bed for me angel.” he kissed your forehead before turning his back on you but you didn’t move. He grabbed a red tie from his desk and turned around, his eyes widening at the sight of you still standing there. “Did you not hear me?” He raised his eyebrows at you, “I said, get on the bed. Now.”
You could see the annoyance in his eyes. He was starting to slip, you wouldn’t stop now.
“Make me.”
Those two words lit a fire in him. He picked you up easily and threw you onto the bed with such force that you bounced. “I told you not to tease me angel.” He growled as he crawled towards you on the bed. He grabbed your ankle and pulled you towards him so he was hovering over you, arm placed next to your head. His hot breath hit your face. “You were being so good angel, what happened? Why are you being a brat now.”
You whimpered at his words. His hand slipped down to your panties and rubbed a finger up and down your slit ever so lightly.
“Tim please.” You begged him. A sharp smack to your thigh brought you out of your daze.
“I'm sorry, what was that?” his voice has a dangerous edge to it. His eyes were wild, “that not what you're calling me tonight, is it.”
“Sir, please! Please touch me, I need it.” You pleaded with him. He rolled his hips into yours, putting pressure where you needed him most.
“Will you listen to me now?”
“Yes anything you say.” You replied, needing to feel him closer.
He moved in to kiss you, stopping just before your lips touched. You moved up trying to close the distance but his hand was quick around your throat, forcing you back down. “I'm going to eat this pretty little pussy,” he murmured, “I want you to stay still and you must ask for permission before you cum. Understood?”
You nodded, desperate for anything he would give you. He removed his hand from your neck and kissed his way down your body to your soaked panties. His rough hands spread your thighs open, leaving a wet kiss on both before pressing a kiss to your clothed clit. You shifted your hips up, trying desperately to get more stimulation. His arm trapped your hips down.
“Now angel, what did I tell you about moving?” He moved away from where you needed him most.
“I’m sorry sir, please I need you.” You looked at him with desperate eyes.
“All these years I’ve known you, you've always been a tease to me. Whether you knew it or not. I've been waiting for so long for this, I’m going to take my sweet time,” he growled, “you can lay there and shut up, it's my turn to tease you now Y/N.”
He dove back in and licked a long stripe over your panties. Heat washed over your body as you felt your pussy gush at his actions. He slowly pulled them off your body leaving kisses down your legs. Leaving hickeys on your inner thighs. He ran his tongue over the dark red marks he left behind. Throwing your panties somewhere in his room, he came back to your throbbing core. Running a finger through your wetness he cooed at you. “Oh angel you're just soaking wet for me aren't you? I can't wait to taste this sweet little cunt.”
He licked up your slit, collecting your juices. He moaned at the taste. His tongue flicked against your clit ever so lightly, giving you some stimulation but not enough. One hand snaked up in between your thighs to play with your cunt.
You threw your head back at the sensation of his tongue and fingers working their magic on your body. His lips wrapped around your clit and sucked. You gasped at the sensation, shivers running down your spine. His finger teased your entrance.
“You’re fucking drenching me sweetheart. You taste so good when you're like this for me.”
“Please sir I need you.”
“Where do you need me angel?” his finger slid all the way in, “right here?”
Your eyes rolled back as he finally gave you what you wanted. His finger rubbed against your g spot immediately, making soft moans escape your mouth. “Does that feel good?”
“Yes” You whimpered. He smacked your thigh. “What was that?” He said roughly, looking up to meet your eyes.
“I’m sorry, yes it feels good sir.”
Satisfied with your answer he slowly pumped his finger in and out of you, rubbing your clit in tight circles with his thumb. Before long you were thrashing on the sheets, hands gripping the pillow above your head. Your stomach fluttering as you neared your climax.
“Are you a good girl?” Tim questioned.
“Yes sir.” you cried out, “please let me cum, please sir.” Your voice was shaking as you tried to control yourself. Out of nowhere he pulled away, licking his fingers as he watched you kick your legs in frustration.
“What the FUCK Timothy!” You shouted as he got off the bed and walked to his desk. Laughing to himself he reached into a drawer and pulled out a condom.
“Gotta be safe right?” He said with a smirk on his face.
You sighed. “I thought you were just going to leave me there.”
“That's only if you’re a bad girl but you've been good for me so far, so good that I’ll give you what you want.” He said sliding into you. He leaned down and kissed your forehead as you both caught your breath. Once you adjusted to him you tapped his shoulder to move.
“You feel so good wrapped around me angel.” Tim whispered softly in your ear, as he thrust his hips into yours. Finally getting what you needed. You wrapped your legs around him pulling him as close as you could. Your lips met in a heated kiss as the knot in your stomach grew impossibly tighter. His hips snapped into yours at a steady rhythm. Your legs trembled as your orgasm approached at a blinding speed.
Your hips moved to meet his every thrust.
“Tim I’m gonna cum.” You said breathlessly
“Just wait angel one more minute.” The pleasure almost overwhelmed you but the need to be good for him won out. “I want you to cum with me in 3,” your nails clawed down his back, “2,” your eyes fluttered shut, “1.” He growled in your ear.
Your stomach contracted as your body shook with pleasure. His hips stuttered to a stop but his hand kept rubbing you, prolonging your orgasm as long as he could.
You finally pushed his hand away, the feeling getting to be too much. You both lay there next to each other, catching your breath.
“So does this mean we’re together?” You asked, your voice small.
He rolled over to look at you, a big smile on his face. “Definitely.”

I am not your enemy - Lance fanfiction part 12
Chapter 12 is heeeere ! It's been a long time, but I sincerely hope you will like it 💕💕💕
Chapter 12 : Aengels are the most powerful breed Eldarya has ever known
" My angel "
My heart skipped several beats at the hearing of this unexpected nickname. I tried to regain my composure as I looked away from his, squeezing my legs a little tighter against me.
- It should not be so bad, I just need to learn to use it again. I don't want to bother Eweleïn for so little, I say more to try to convince myself.
Without a word, Lance stood up and patiently extended his hand to me. I hesitated for a moment, realizing my nakedness under the sheets I held tightly, as well as the light that now dimly lit the room, but his calm gaze finally decided me to trust him. Nervously, I let go of the thin fabric to wrap my fingers around his, still clamping an arm around my chest as he guided me to the large mirror that adorned one of the walls of my bedroom. Gently grabbing my shoulders, he turned my back to it and, taking another from the cabinet, he slid it into my palm made slightly sweaty by the anxiety that was driving me. The lump in my stomach, I inhaled several long seconds while plunging into his calm gaze, in which I saw the support I needed to finally face what terrified me. But my breath caught in my throat as my eyes drifted to the small psyche between my fingers.
With horror, I discovered that the entire center of my back was covered with bruises ranging from yellow to dark purple, running from between my shoulder blades to the end of my rib cage. My skin seemed mutilated, totally bruised. Since when had this become so alarming ? Tracing long uneven and voluminous lines, two misshapen bumps indicated the shape of my wings which had remained stuck during my nightmare.
I couldn't understand it anymore, it was as if my body categorically refused the blood of faery in it.
These marks repelled me.
A tear fell down my cheek again without my being able to control it, dark thoughts invading my foggy mind. But what the hell was I doing here? I was clearly not an Eldaryan and my body had reminded me of this every day since I woke up from the Crystal!
Lost in the murky stream of my thoughts, I didn't notice the dragon moving in my direction. With a slow gesture, he surprised me by coming to capture with his cold fingers the salty taste which descended the slope of my cheek.
- Please don't cry Andraste, he said softly before pausing briefly, his face serious. I am sincerely sorry that I did not understand everything that was happening to you, but I promise you that we will find a solution to all of this.
His eyes, not letting go of me for a moment, expressed a determination familiar to him.
- And I'm sorry if I hurt you earlier.
- You couldn't have known, it's nothing, I said with a weak smile at his sheepish look. And then, it was I who literally jumped on you.
An amused pout appeared on his face, which relaxed me slightly.
- It's true, I couldn't do anything to defend myself. I was helpless.
I burst into a frank laugh that Lance didn't seem to want to miss. Grinning broadly, he grabbed my t-shirt sent to the corner of the room and approached me before pulling the collar over my head.
- Let's go to sleep now, it's late.
I put the top wisely under his gentle gestures. Walking towards the bed, I watched curiously as he turned off the light.
Was he going to stay with me tonight ?
Slipping under the sheets, I felt him with some relief join me in the bed. Turned in his direction, I remained stoic not quite knowing what to do. Granted, we had kissed, but what about now that the moment was over ?
Answering my internal questions, Lance grabbed one of my hands and rested it on his chest, crossing his long fingers with mine.
My God, I didn't dare to move.
He then slipped an arm under his neck and lost himself for a moment in contemplating the ceiling. I took the opportunity to observe him. In the surrounding darkness, I could tell the white scar that marked his right nose. I detailed his features, both thin and hard, before dwelling on his full mouth.
I could still smell the fresh taste of his lips on mine.
Catching me off guard, he suddenly brought my hand to his face and kissed it, as light as a feather.
- Goodnight, my Angel.
I smile stupidly at the hearing of this nickname which I was already taking a liking to.
For the first time in several weeks, I think I finally fell asleep with peace of mind, slight tingling running through our palms coiled against each other.
***
Sitting on the infirmary's auscultation table, I nervously clenched and unclenched my fists on my removed garment as I guessed Eweleïn's eyes watching me quietly, her fingers tracing the same path as the dragon's for a few hours earlier. A violent shiver ran through me when she touched the sensitive part of my back, making me close my eyelids in the face of the shame that overwhelmed me due to my pitiful physical state. I couldn't stand those looks that reminded me of my alarming weakness.
Straightening up, my nurse sas silent for several long seconds, further increasing my stress level. The elf walked around the table and stood in front of me, looking serious.
- Andraste, why didn't you come to see me earlier ? she asked me, her tone both soft and bossy.
What could I answer ? That I was once again too fragile, too weak to bear the weight of my own origins ?
- I don’t know. At first it wasn't so alarming, but then...
I don’t finish my sentence. In truth, I had no excuse. I had only closed my eyes to the situation, no longer able to bear to appear so weak in the eyes of others as well as my own. It was grueling...
- You know that this is not your fault ? she said to me, reading me like an open book. You've lived as a human much longer than you did during Freezing, and all that time spent in the Crystal has completely disrupted your metabolism. It's not weakness, it's just your body trying to adjust.
- But why was it that before, I managed to use my powers and my wings naturally ? I almost got carried away. I hadn't been on Eldarya for a long time, yet it didn't hurt like it does now.
- I know my dear, she said with a sad look. You'll have to get your body used to it all again. I think your wit has a lot to do with it, too.
She pulled up a chair and sat down across from me, her slow, gentle movements decidedly appeasing me despite the circumstances.
- You just woke up after seven years of absence and you realize that people have erected you to the rank of goddess savior of their world. Isn't it quite normal to feel too much pressure from others ? The Crystal Hall, even since you both woke up, has become a hall of worship. In addition, you have experienced events that are very hard to bear psychologically speaking. You need to move forward at your own pace and I think your body is trying to make you understand it subconsciously.
I pondered her words. It was true that I felt the weight of people's gaze and that I no longer felt at all comfortable in the presence of people. I felt like something was constantly expected of me, that I had to show them that I was the one they had been praying for over the past few years. That I was worthy of their expectations.
Except that I was none of that. I had certainly fought Lance and had the blessing of the Oracle, but what more did I have as a person ?
Nothing. I had nothing more.
- Lance told me that you were able to use your powers again. It's a very good thing, soon you will be able to stick your wings out like a perfect aengel, believe me.
A gentle smile lit up her face as a result of those words. I wanted her to tell me the truth. That one day, I can feel this faery part in me as naturally as my human part.
Except that it wasn’t won.
The elf plunged her eyes into mine again and, grabbing my hands, she grabbed my attention.
- Honey, as far as we know, the aengels are the most powerful race Eldarya has ever known. You probably have a power so powerful inside you that you automatically reject it, but when you have learned to harness it, I can guarantee that you will finally feel completely yourself. I know how much you doubt yourself right now, and it's completely understandable given the reactions of your body, but I know that you will get better very quickly and learn to deal with your new condition.
She then slowly let go of my hands and stood up nimbly. Deep inside me, her words touched me more than I expected. I was amazed at how true she was about my condition and the way I see things now. Eweleïn was truly the most amazing person I knew.
- But for now, I'm going to give you a cream that will soothe your muscles and your back tension, she finally concluded.
Walking towards a table containing various creams and medicines, she grabbed a jar containing a mixture probably of her own making and, standing behind me, she spread with her delicate fingers the cold product all over the affected area of my back. The elf was right, the concoction immediately relaxed my tight skin, easing the pressure pulsing on my muscles.
- Thank you Eweleïn, I breathed calmly. I don't know how I will do without you.
- Indeed, I wonder how you would do without me, she laughs sincerely. You can go now, but you'll have to come back tomorrow for me to see the healing progress.
Replacing my clothes on my back made sticky by the cream, I was about to get up when the elf stopped my gesture.
- For the resorption of your wings, I'm sorry but I can't do anything more. It will probably be a while before this phenomenon stops, but I understand that Lance has volunteered for your training. You know, he has wings too, maybe he can help you with that problem.
At the utterance of the dragon's first name, a diffused heat ran through my stomach. I could feel my heart race as a thin smile stretched the lips of my interlocutor.
I was sure she suspected something. Nothing seemed to escape this woman, especially not my emotions.
With a much lighter heart, I closed the door to the infirmary behind me and huffed loudly. Despite everything, this interview with Eweleïn had done me the greatest good. I felt relieved, as if weighed down by a weight that had choked me for days.
Walking down the hall, I heard noise coming from the side of the Council Chamber. Catching my gaze, I found Nevra standing not far from me. The vampire walked in my direction, making my heart beat even faster.
- Hello, Andraste. Are you coming out of the infirmary again ?
My teeth gritted at his remark, to say the least, out of place, I was a little too upset to argue with him today.
- Hello, Nevra, I replied defensively. What is this sudden interest in my presence worth to me ? You seemed to rather avoid me, these last few weeks.
Blown away by my answer, he exhaled loudly before visibly trying to ease the tension.
- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude.
- It's funny, I just thought that you were trying to be disagreeable. Finally, it is probably me who wins me again.
Turning on my heels, I started down the stairs when the vampire's hand grabbed my wrist.
- They weren't empty words, Andraste. I am really sorry.
I remained resolutely turned towards the hall of the room of the doors, not wishing to face his gaze when I already felt my tears ready to resurface. I really had to work on my emotional management.
- It's not the first time you've apologized, yet we're still at the same point, I said weakly. Let me go, please.
Despite my request, the young man didn’t move a millimeter. I felt he wanted to add something, but what ? He finally resolved to let go, changing his attitude yet again.
- Your bodyguard isn't with you, this time ?
I felt all the bitterness in his voice. No, he was not allowed to play it to me like that, not after all the animosity he had offered me after my waking up.
- At least, he doesn't spend his time pretending I don't exist.
Without a glance in his direction, I hurtled down the steps to the forge. I really needed to externalize all the conflicting feelings that were literally eating me up. I had to let off steam, find something to relieve myself.
Slamming the door open, I slammed into a chest that I now knew pretty well.
Lance grabbed my arm before I found myself knocked down by the force of his body.
- Everything all right, Andraste?
No, it wasn't.
Why did I want to kiss him every damn time I saw him ?

_____________________________________________
The first time he heard about it he was under the ground. He felt like he was choking, his helmet somewhere unknown and with it his communication with Oracle. He isn't talking to B (not after he chose the fucking Joker over him) but he does help Nightwing sometimes, and oh, did he wished right now that he would have never let Dick in his safehouse.
Nightwing and Red Hood were about to bust a drag ring, but the thing is, it was an ambush, so now they're both under ground, Hood's leg impaled to the ground by an iron pillar from one of the walls that exploded and that they're buried under, his helmet in an unknown place and 'wing trying to call for help.
Jason tried to slow his breath but being under ground is bringing back bad memories (He can't breathe, he's locked, and all he want right now is his dad-) of being six feet under and he's hysterical- because everything is hurting and broken and half his face are burned and he can't breathe so please, please he just want his dad, "please dad come save me"-
He's so gone into his mind, letting his panic control him that he's flinching away when Dick touching his shoulder, but it's pulling him out of his head (and just when did the tears started to spill out of his eyes?), and Dick is looking at him, the whites lenses of his domino mask are gone and instead Jason's getting those blue eyes that are full with concern.
"It's okay Jay" Dick smiled at him, a small smile that somehow made Jason believe that it's okay. "B and baby bat are on their way right now," Dick's hand found Jason's and he squeezed it in reassuring. Jason returned the squeeze. "We will be fine"
...
"Did someone ever told you about the kid who almost killed Joker?" Dick asked after couple minutes of silence, when Jason's breath is under control and he isn't so much as hysterical as he was couple of minutes before.
Jay turned his head to Dick, "No" his voice was hoarse, too hoarse for his own ears but Dick didn't seems to mind, he just nodded his head and smiled softly at him.
"He was thirteen years old back then, Joker took him, when Babs still was Batgirl" And at that moment Dick's comn beeped and after five minutes they were out of the ground, Bruce and Damian next to Dick, checking if he's fine while Jason took his helmet, the hole in his leg isn't that bad and when Dick looking at him the Red Hood already swing away.
_____________________________________________
The second time he heard about it was because he wanted to, he was curious and he wanted to know what happened to the kid, what made a thirteen years old kid almost kill the Joker.
So, he was on his couch, his leg bandaged and a cup of hot tea on the coffe table, his laptop open and working and the reading lamp's orange light made his shadow look like some villain from kids cartoon.
It's hard to find anything about it but he is (A bat) Red Hood, if he wants to he'll find out what happened back then. And he want to.
So Jason cracked his fingers and started to work.
The seconds became to minutes that became to hours of work and clicking on his keyboard, it's hard to find anything because apparently this whole story is shushed and all Jason gathered until now came from a video of the news report and all they said there was that Joker broke out of Arkham and decided he wanted a son, kidnapped some unlucky kid and deleted the boy's personality with electrical shocks until he becamed Joker Junior, and then he kept torturing the kid until the Batman and Batgirl found the kid, broken minded and holding a gun to Joker's head.
It was quite the story, but Jason didn't know what happened later, who the kid was or what happened to him.
But he will, just to know if the kid's okay. Or to ask why he hadn't pulled the trigger..
So he kept digging, looking for anything that may conect to the story. And that's how Jason found himself reading article about Jack and Jent Drake disowning their only child Tim Drake. The kid was only thirteen back then, and all he took before he took off from the face of earth was a stuffed Kola and a camra.
And it may be his curiosity about this because he don't remember the kid and apparently they were neighbors or the JJ thing but he knows that he'll find Tim Drake.
_____________________________________________
Jent Drake died two years after she disowned Tim in a car crash, her husband got depressed and started looking for Tim to reown him but then he met Dana Winters.
There was some love story there that Jason wasn't really that interested in reading but in the end they married and left Gotham, never coming back. And the most annoying thing is, that Tim was never found.
But he did found out that there was some kid that helped Harley and Ivy sometimes, he had a faded red hoodie and faded green jeans.
The hoodie's hat always hiding his face and from the little Jason saw, his skin was more white than normal human skin.
Jason couldn't find a lot of photos of the kid but he did find one of Harley hugging the kid.
Jason looked at the photo, it was fuve years old, when Tim desperate and all the JJ thing happened. The way he held himself was familiar to Jason, something deep in his mind, memories that he couldn't remember, but it was there, and Jason knows that this Tim kid is JJ who is also somehow Harley's kid.

"I need your help"
"Oh that's nice, what aby 'hey Babs, how was your day? Did Dick pissed you off and going to sleep on the couch tonight? Can you please help me with this thing?'"
Jason smiled, shifting the phone that was pressed against his ear "What did Dick did?"
"He was a dick"
"How was your day?"
"What did you wanted help with Jay?"
"Clown boy"
"Hmm?"
"Joker Junior"
A sharp breath "What about him?"
"You know who he is?"
"We found him after he took a dip in the acid, and he was dressed like the Joker, too much make up, green hair, purple suit, couldn't recognise him"
"But you know don't you?"
"Batman doesn't know"
"Well you're Oracle not Batman. It's simple question O, you know? Yes or no?"
"I know"
"I think I know too"
"Who do you think it is?"
"Tim Drake"
"..Yes it's him"
"Why didn't you told Bruce?
"He's a good kid"
"He's with Harley now"
"Tim isn't bad"
"Babs, if he's Joker Junior and he's with Harley he can't be that good"
"Jay, Harley and Ivy gave me the tip to find him and Harley took him in after his parents disowned him, he may be stilling sometimes or helping Harley and Ivy but he is good"
"You kept tabs on him?"
"He's smart, he may have lost a lot of his memories because of the Joker and he is crazy but he have support"
"Does Bruce know you're helping hiding him?"
"No, and he wouldn't. Not until Tim decided that it's fine"
"You're in contact?"
"We're just talking, I'm sending him puzels and riddles and it's helping him keep clean mind"
"Can I talk to him?"
"I can't tell you where he is but I also can't stop you from doing this"
"Thank you Babs"
"Not a problem Jaybird"
_____________________________________________
It was a week later that Jason walked into a small unnoticed coffee shop.
The design of the place gave him a feeling of happiness, like it was some kind of home.
He looked through everyone there, couple next to the window, three old ladies sitting in a table for four, chatting and laughing, couple of collage students sitting with something to eat and something warm to drink and typing on their laptops, and on the farthest side of the coffee shop, in a table for two, sat a teen, his hands paler than any human skin, his long hair hiding his face, a coffee cup in front of him and his legs shacking.
"Hello! Can I help you?" A cheerful voice called from the cashier desk, he put on a smile on his face and turned to see a black haired girl, with a big smile on her face.
"Yeah, do you have Eral Gray?"
"We do! Anything else with this?"
"No, thank you"
"Okay, just a minute"
When he got his cup he paid the girl murmuring a "Thank you" and walking to Tim.
When he sat down in front of the teen, icy blue eyes looked at his face, and his breath hitched when he saw the little cuts on at each end of his mouth, creating a smile.
"Hey" Jason said, smiling at Tim.
"Hey.." Tim's voice almost didn't reached his ears and Jason's smile grew wider when Tim smiled at him. A shy little amazing smile.
"I'm Jason"
"T-Tim"
"Nice to meet you"
"Why are you here?"
"I wanted tea"
"You aren't scared?" Tim's eyes looked a bit insane when he said the last word, his smile grew wider and he leaned closer to the table. The cuts on his face and his pale skin made him look like Joker but there was also something else there, something in his eyes that said 'Pleas don't be scared' and Jason swallowed and forced his nerves to calm down.
"No, you actually seems nice"
Tim blinked once.
Twice.
And then his smile became nicer, less dangerous and more shy. He relaxed and took a sip from his coffee.
Jason smiled, sipping from his own cup while making a note in his head to be careful with this one.
They drank a couple more cups together, chatting about nothing in particular and when Tim excused himself and left, Jason found a paper next to the cup.
He opened it because of his dammed curiosity and bis breath hitched.
'Ha ha ha'

It was in the middle of the night, the streets lamps flickered on and off every couple of seconds, and the stars were hidden in the sky, behind the clouds.
His parents just left the town. Without telling him. Again. And it's fine, he can't be mad at his parents for leaving him -he is, like his mother says, rotten child- all the time.
But sometimes he wonders if he'll ever be good enough for them to stay. If he'll ever be good enough so his mother wouldn't need to hiss his name through clench teeth and his father to hit him.
Maybe he would never be good enough..
In those nights when he wonders about it, he goes to a walk. It's always makes him calm and shuts his mind down. It's leaving him with the feeling of wholenesses, like some how the wind that hit his body in cold sharp hit is welcoming, or the cold of the night is like his stuffed Kola -the one he got from Bruce Wayne In a gala that his parents hosted when he was four and since then he hides it from his parents and hugging it when he need comfort- or like the silence out here is better than the silence inside the empty house.
And maybe, just maybe hr would see his heros.
And as Tim kept walking he could barely hear this cursed laugh, followed by the soft like song-
Mary had a little lamb
Little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb...
"Cutie pie?" His mama's voice rang, it was muffled but it was still there. "I'm hearing laughing, it's a good joke?"
A knock on his door "Sweetheart?" His laugh grew and his eyes burned, tears dropping from his eyes.
"Timmy?"
He hugged his legs to his chest, laughing and crying and this song is stuck in his head and he can't stop it and-
"Mary had a little lamb"
Mama's hands are around him, hugging him and petting his hair "Shhh shh shh, everything's fine baby, I'm here"
He can't breathe and the song is on full volume in his head but mama's here and mama is safety, she's safety. He's safe. Safe

"What the hell were you thinking?" Oracle's voice rang through the comn in his helmet.
"You need to be more specific than that O"
"Tim blocked me, Selina is mad at Bruce because one of his kids hurt her niece, Harley and Tim are nowhere to be found and Selina and Ivy are planning something"
"I didn't hurt Tim and I don't know why you told ma all the other stuff"
"Hood, Tim's smart, maybe too much smart but his mind is broken, he's crazy and genius"
"Okay and..?"
"He wants to go -and I’m quoting him- Boom he always wanted everyone to know that he's Harley's kid, and I always made him take more time, think about it more the fact that he blocked me means that I can't tell him to sit back anymore"
"You can remove it though"
"I did, and he just throw his phone away"
"So I broke him?"
"No, Joker broke him you just set him off"
"Shit"
"Yes. Shit"

"Wohhooo" Was shout out to the sky as Tim set in shopping cart, Harley -in her rollerblades- holding the handles of the cart, and they're both 'driving' down a road, laughing.
The air hit Tim's face in the best way he could have ever imagined and he laughed so hard that his cheedk burned, and maybe he ripped his stiches oncr again today but he dosen't care.
He is happy. So, so happy, like he was with this hot guy in the coffee shop, before his meltdown.
But right now, right now it's all this.
His mama and him, having fun, his mom and aunty kitty somewhere doing her own thing and everything's okay.
He laughed again as they started to speed up, the wind throwing his hair in any direction possible.
After a few minutes they cane to a stop, his mama's smile is so loving and he hopes that his smile is loving as well.
"Come on sweetie, let's do it" Harley smiled as she gave him the lighter, he jumped out of the cart and lit the lighter, his eyes sparking as the fire started spreading.
Tim and Harley walked away because they're crazy not stupid.
There faces lit up as the fireworks blew and flew to the sky.
Harley hugged him from behind and he relaxed into his mama's touch, watching the fireworks becoming to words that are shining over Gotham's sky.

"Hey Hoodie" A cheerful voice called from behind him.
Red Hood turned around, a gun in his hand just to be met with Tim's lovely smile.
"Chill, chill" The teen said, holding his hands up "I'm not going to hurt you"
"What do you want?" Hood asked, lowering his gun.
"We have never met have we?" Tim said, his smile calm
"I don't think so"
"No, but I did met Robin"
"So you met the Demon"
Tim frowned "No. The second one."
"Don't know him"
"Red Hood can't meet Robin II"
"And why's that?"
"Robin II's dead, dad killed him" Tim shock his head "I don't like dad, I liked Robin II and dad did it because it's funny. It's not!"
Tim looked so frustrated, his eyes big and he's looking at Jason like he hope that he would understand that and, something in Jason change, his face are softer under the helmet and-
"Okay Tim, I know you aren't the Joker."
"I didn't met *you* but we did met, I know Robin and I know Jason and now I know Red Hood?"
"You know who I am"
"No, no no no!" Tim looked him straight in the eyes, like he could see his face behind the helmet "You're Red Hood now, you were Robin and you always were Jason but now you Red Hood, I don't know Red Hood!"
"Okay, okay, relax, you don't know Red Hood, that's fine"
"I need to know Red Hood"
"Why?"
"Because I need Red Hood to help me"
"You need help?"
"Yes"
"Okay, but why Red Hood?"
"Because.. Ummm because- Because of Dad! I need Red Hood to help me kill dad"
To kill.. the Joker.
To kill the Joker.
The Joker dead.
'Yes'
"I would help you, Red Hood and Jason, okay?"
Tim nodded "Yeah, okay."
The sky started to glow and they both looked up, looking at fireworks that formed

It was so logical and simple that Jason almost laugh.
He sat next to Tim in some small safehouse, looking at Tim up and down as he was solving Sudoku.
They're waiting for the others to decide exactly who will go in and kill this son of a bitch and aho will make sure that everyone else will be present in that day.
They are waiting for Tim's small family, and Jason smiled at the thought of this family, he once had one and then he died and he was replaced by Stephanie Brown who is now Batgirl so they're fine now. But he doesn't have this family now, all he have are some blurred memories.
Tim let out a little "Yay" with a cute, small giggle that made Jason smile.
"Hey!" Tim suddenly said, looking at Jason with big eyes, Jason looked around him, trying to find something that would make Tim look panoco "What-"
"Are you hurt?" Tim's voice was soft and caring and Jasom heart might have skipped a beat, "No?"
"Than why do you have split lip and bruise on your jaw?"
"I've got into a fight, it's not serious" But Tim was there in seconds, his worry eyes looking at Jason's jaw and just wow- Jason swallowed the lump in his throat when Tim's slender finger touched his lip and-
"I've the best thing to help!" Tim pulled away and his finger caressed Jason's lip in a way that made Jason hold his breath.
And in the next moment Tim putted a chocolate bar in his hand, smiling at him "It help!" He said and Jason huffed a laugh, mentally shacking his head.
"Thanks Timmy" Jason said an smile on his face, opening the chocolate and cutting a line.
It was milk chocolate with pop candy and it was amazing, Jason hummed as he ate it, looking at Tim solving a new sudoku.
After the meeting (if it even can be called that) Jason took the rest of the chocolate bar, just to have something sweet after patrol tonight.
_____________________________________________
Jason stripped from his Red Hood gear, stretching his hands out and poping his back.
He took a quick shower and pulled on a sweat pants and grey hoodie from the deep of his closest 'Maybe it's time to do the laundry'.
Jason smiled as the sky were lit in 25 Days and turned the lamp off.
His lip tickled as some kind of reminder that Tim touched him there, he looked so worried and that just warmed Jason's heart.
And that amazing chocolate- maybe he will have to get hurt more just to have it.
He closed hid eyes, ready to fall asleep and then it hit him-
Oh.
Oh.
Oh shit.
He- he have a crush.
_____________________________________________
The sun was in the middle of the sky when Jason woke up, blinking into the darkness because the blinds are close.
He groaned as he stretched his body, still in the bed under the warmth of the fluffy blanket. The sleepiness still has her claws clutching on him and made Jason wonder why the hell his bed isn't as comfy whenever he's trying to sleep but is when he tries to wake up.
He almost fell asleep again, but the *Bam! Bam! Bam!* on his door made him jolt up from the bed, the gun that he hides between the mattress and the bed in his hand, walking to the living room without making a sound, looking through the peep hole.
He huffed in relief, opening the door looking at Dick who smiled at him. "You woke me up you asshole"
"Sorry little wing" But Dick didn't sounded sorry at all and that just made him groan.
Jason followed Dick to the kitchen after Dick let himself in, the door closing behind them.
"What are you doing here?"
"I can't visit my little brother?"
"Not your brother" Jason turned around to the pantry to take out a tea bag just when Dick flinched from the words as if they're physically harming him.
"You're my brother, even if you don't see it like that"
"Dick."
"No! You're my brother, I count you as my brother" Dick snap and Jason would lie if he said that that didn't touched his heart, even if it's not true because in the end Dick have his new little brother and also a sister and it's really is fine that Jason isn't part of his family. It is.
So he didn't reply to it, just let Dick think what he wants to. "Do you want to tell me why you actually came or what?" He asked as he started to boil water.
"I wanted to talk to you"
"About?"
"You said you'd this case, how's it going?"
Jason took the teapot off the gas, pouring the hot water to his glass, "I didn't told anyone that I've a case"
"Well no but Babs told me"
"Babs don't know, and she would have asked if she wanted to know" Jason took a sip from his cup and turned around to glare at the older man "What it really is about?"
"Bruce saw you with Harley and Ivy and their kid and he wants to know what you all doing"
Jason saw red for a moment and them took a calming breath, a long sip from his tea and walked his way toward the island, putting his mug down and glaring at his so called brother.
"So you're here on a mission?" His voice was cold and full with venom.
"N-no!"
Jason raised an eyebrow "You just said it"
"I don't care what B wanted, I came for my brother"
"Damian isn't here"
"Jason!"
"What? You want me to say that you didn't came because Bruce said something on me? You don't want to know what I'm doing with Harley, Ivy and their kid? Ah? That's what you're telling me?"
"I-"
"Ha! And you just said we're brothers!"
"We are Jason"
"No! You have your own little family, I'm not part of it, never was!"
"You are! You always were and you always will be!"
And at that moment Jason saw green, throwing his mug down on the island, the shatterd flew everywhere and the hot water started to drip down to the floor.
And as a last resort Dick yelled "TIM DRAKE!"
It made Jason blink, and look at Dick, "What did you just said?"
"Tim Drake, it's this boy Joker kidnapped, Harley and Ivy's kid"
"How do you know this?"
"Well, family of detectives and all"
"What do you want?"
"Is he threating you?"
"What? No!"
"Jay, you can tell me the truth"
"Oh I can?"
"Yes, of course!"
"Okay so fuck off"
"Wh-what?"
"The truth is that I want you to fuck off and don't ever come back. Bye."
"..Jay.."
"I'll throw you out of the window"
"Okay, okay. But.."
"Go!" _____________________________________________
Tim sat on an air conditioner motor that was on the roof of a building, his legs tangling down, one shoe red with zigzag lines on it and the other one yellow with glitters. His pants in a fading green colour and a black-blue t-shirt. And Jason just looked, glad that his helmet hiding his face as a stupid smile crossed his face.
"Hoodie hood!" Tim's cheerful voice made Jason's smile wider, and Tim pushed himself of the air conditioner motor, when his feet touched the roof his yellow shoe started to sparkle with light, like little kids shoes.
"Hey clown kid" Tim smiled, something sweet and beautiful that made butterflies fly in Jason's belly.
"I don't like this helmet today" Tim said, his hands touching lightly at the sides of the red helmet.
"And why's that?"
"I can't see your hair. I love your hair!"
Jason smiled, Tim was just... just.
"Thanks baby clown, I love your hair too"
"Baby clown?"
"Yup"
"I like it"
"Good"
Tim took Jason's hand in his and started walking them to the air conditioner motor.
They both sat down, Tim's hands now in his lap and Jason opened his helmet, setting it next to him.
Tim looked at him, his blue icy eyes glinted and a small smile on his face. Jason looked right back at him, the blue-green eyes looking like some amazing place that kids are being told about in fairy tales.
Jason don't know who moved first, or what exactly happened. All he knows is that Tim is sitting in his lap, Tim's hands in his hair and Jason hugging him close. There mouths pressing against each other's. Tim's mouth have this amazing chocolate taste, a hint of coffee and Tim.
In the dark sky above of them, the fireworks draw the 18 days.
_____________________________________________
Jason is happy. Like really truly happy. He couldn't stop smiling this stupid love sick smile since the kiss.
He met Tim every patrol and those small kiss were the best, 10/10 would definitely do again.
Tim's cute and smart and he seems to really like Jason which is amazing because Jason really like him too.
None of the Bats came to annoy him, and everything is just amazing. For once in his life everything is just good.
His grapple gun shot to the next building and the cold wind never felt better. As Red Hood's boots hit the roof a "Hey there, love bird" greeted him.
"Cat," He called back, doing a small '*hi*' with his hand "'sup?"
"We need to talk"
"About?"
"Tim"
Jason sat next to her, his legs tangling down from the roof, "You here to give me the talk?"
"Not the talk you think about, I'll that to his moms"
"Then what talk?"
"Are you serious with him?"
"For now.. for now yes" he said with a bit hesitation.
Selina nodded "That's good for me"
"Thank you?"
"You're welcome sweetie, anyway you nrrd to be careful with Timmy"
"I know that, I wasn't born yesterday Cat"
She huffed a laugh, "Oh I know that sweetie, but you still need to know about Tim's past"
"Isn't he supposed to tell me about it? In his own time?"
"He will, I'm going to tell you only things that he won't because it's a trigger for him"
"The torture?"
"Yes, the torture, and what lead to his kidnapping, and it'll give you an idea yo what his parents were like"
Jason looked at her in the eyes, seriousness burns in them. "Okay, let's hear the story" _____________________________________________
His parents left again, it has been hours since the screaming stopped, his cheeks were wet from tears and his eyes red.
He was hiding in the closet, his hands holding his stuffed Kola close, his left arm is numb except for the cut on it, but it's a small cut and he deserved it. He isn't supposed to talk back to his father.
The dry blood on his arm itched and he needs to treat the cut, but he don't want to move. The closest is a safe place because mother and father can't get in.
New tears slipping down his face and he hugs the Kola tighter.
_____________________________________________
When Tim woke up his neck hurt and his left arm felt like a million fire ants stung her.
He opened the closest door, stumbling out of there holding the Kola in one hand, dropping it on his bed and walking to the bathroom, pulling the first aid kit from under the sink, treating his wound with a hiss of pain.
A quick glance out of the window and he knows it's in the middle of the night, and his parents were supposed to stay home for more couple of days but once again they just left the town. Without telling him. Again. And it's fine, he can't be mad at his parents for leaving him -he is, like his mother says, rotten child- all the time.
But he doesn't have something to do now, and his arm's fine, he can go out and see Batman, and maybe Robin too. Though Robin isn't around a lot now, maybe something happened... _____________________________________________
The streets lamps flickered on and off every couple of seconds, and the stars were hidden in the sky, behind the clouds.
The cold wind hit him merciless, but it just made him smile, he loves the winter. It always made him feel better with himself.
His camera clutched in his hands, his black stocking cap falling on his eyes every couple of minutes, and yes it may be annoying but it's also letting him something to do, because tonight he can't find Batman...
What the hour anyway? Maybe he's late and Batman's back in the cave...
And then he could hear it, some quiet voice singing.. Maybe a kid.. What if the kid need help?
"Hello?' he called out, moving closer to the voice, he can hear the words now.
"Mary had a little lamb Little lamb, little lamb Mary had a little lamb..." _____________________________________________
He cried out, pain strobes through all hid body, tears on his face and blood run down his chine and neck
This psycho laugh making him shiver and try to run away. This hateful song in the background..
And this voice.. "Come on Little Lamb, be a good son for little old me, and tell me. What's. Your. Name?"
"T-Tim"
He screamed as he got electriced again. _____________________________________________
He is shacking, scared out of his mind, tears rolling down his face. And it doesn't stop.
He can barely breathe, the electrical shock isn't stopping. And Tim is honest to God scared.
He don't know what's next to come, he can't actually believe it's happening and everything- everything hurt.
He can feel himself leaving his body, his heart- _____________________________________________
He woke up, everything is hurting again and the fucking Joker is looking at him, this psychotic smile on his face-
"Welcome back my Little Lamb"
-And this horrible song again
"Mary had a little lamb Little lamb, little lamb Mary had a little lamb..." _____________________________________________
"What's your name?"
"Tim!" _____________________________________________
"What's. Your. Name?"
"Ti-" _____________________________________________
"Your name?"
He don't even* know *anymore, and it's really frustrating... _____________________________________________
He is laughing. A manic good laugh. Happy laugh.
He's happy because he remembers who he is and it's funny- why did he forgot anyway?
"What's your name?"
"JJ!" _____________________________________________
He laughed as his dad cut his face open do he'll always smile. He laughed as dad throw him to the acid. He laughed as dad painted his hair.
He laughed and he laughed, and laughed and laughed-
But it's not funny anymore- dad isn't here and his hair is black... JJ scowled at the mirror, dad don't like his hair black. He like green. Yes, green hair and purple suit, and red- red, red, red blood. And it's funny- everything funny so hr laughs, but the mirror- The shattered glass flew everywhere and it's so funny that he can't stop laughing-
"Timothy!" Mother's standing by the door, she looks horrified.. it's not funny anymore- it's not-
He can't breathe, he stumbles backwards, tears rolling down his face and he. Can't. Stop. Laughing. _____________________________________________
One night he heard his mother and father talking. It's not fine, but what is fine anymore? He's finally Tim but he's also JJ and it's so confusing.
"I can't look at him anymore Jack, he is pathetic!"
"I know Janet, don't worry"
Tim chokes a whimper. _____________________________________________
The next week Ivy and Harley found Tim trying to drown himself and took him in... _____________________________________________
Jason took in a deep breath, his eyes wet and his heart ache for his little clown.
"It's..."
Catwoman gave him a small smile, "A lot? I know. Those are once of the memories Tim still have"
"I'm- I can't even-" Cat smiled at him and squeezed his shoulder.
The words 13 Days shined in the sky above them.
_____________________________________________
"Hood" Oracle's voice filled his helmet.
"O, how many times do I need to ask you not to hack my helmet?"
Oracle completely ignored him "How's Tim been?"
Jason swallow, he forgot that Babs is actually one of those people who really care about Tim (and him. Because Babs amazing).
"He's been good, happy" Just like Jason. It's like they feel the same thing. He can see Babs smile in his mind at that, like something changed in the weather just because of what he said, and it pulled a smile in his face.
"That's good, how are you?"
"Same as Tim"
And now he can hear her smile when she talks "I'm happy to hear that."
"How are you O? Does Dick head annoying you? 'cuz I can beat him if you need"
O snorted, "Two days sleeping on the sofa and he'll be begging for my forgiveness"
Jason laughed. And they kept talking about nothing for two more minutes, before Babe had to go.
And that's when Jason shot his grapple to another roof and went flying in the sky, the feeling of happiness all over his body.
But it all stopped when hr heard it.
It came straight out of his nightmares, something from his deepest fears.
This manic laugh. Joker's laugh.
And no just no. Thete's no way this stupid fucker got out again.
He dropped to the ground with a thud sound, looking for the fucker but instead seeing a group of teenagers, kicking someone on the ground.. someone who couldn't stop laughing like the Joker and his heart stopped beating for a second when he realised who it is.
A shot noise ripped through the air and the teens stopped, looking back at the red hood holding a gun at one of them.
All he needed to do wad to say "Go. Away" and the teens ran away, leaving Tim on the ground, hugging his legs to his chest, blood and tears mixed together on his face, and he couldn't breathe because the laughing wouldn't stop.
Jason hurried to him, helping him to sit up and uncurl himself, unable to look over Tim's face since he wouldn't let him.
"Tim, sweetie, my baby clown," Jason kissed his cheek, hugging him close to him "It's me, remember? Red Hood"
And at that Tim's head moved, looking up at him. Eyes full of tears and his face twitched in this manic smile, blood dripping down from the now open cuts in his chicks to his chin.
"Timmy babe, can you hear me?" He received a small and hesitate nod that he took as yes.
"Can you give me your hands?" He asked, showing Tim his gloved hands. The smaller man put his hands in his, feeling the fabric.
Tim relaxed, his eyes fixed on the red helmet, the tears stopped rolling down his face.
The laughing quiet down a bit, but still were there.
"You remember me, right? We are friends, hell I'm hoping even more than friends"
Tim nodded, but Jason wasn't sure what he was agreeing with so he just kept talking.
"We have this amazing plan, because you are my little smarty boy right?"
Tim could take in a breath and that was good, he wasn't laughing anymore but he also didn't talk exactly, just watched Jason and every couple of seconds squeezed one of his hands (never the both of them together for some reason).
"Hell I even kissed you that night and it was the greatest thing in the whole world baby clown"
"No." Tim's tiny voice waved on the air.
"Hah?" If Tim didn't like Jason like that... It would be ok, he will be heart breaked for a few days but he would be fine at the end... Somehow.
"I kissed you" Tim said, looking at him with this witty little smile that Jason grew to love so much.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah" a small smile tug on Jason's lips, and their lips met. It was amazing just like the first time they kissed, and it sent sparkles down Jason's body.
And after a minute he let go, both of them taking deep breath.
"Come on baby clown, let's go to my home"
Tim took his hand and he pulled him up, hugging the smaller man.
The words 7 Days exploded in the sky exactly when they reached Jason's apartment.
_____________________________________________
Waking up with Tim by his side is amazing.
The smaller man was curled next to him, a hand clutching at the fabric of his shirt. The long black hair messed up but still so beautiful. Tim's face relaxed, a samll smile on his face.
Last night Jason gave him one of his own shirts, and the younger basically swam in the white shirt.
Jason looked at the paler than normal skin that was now available. It was in the same colour of the shirt.
He pulled Tim closer to him, kissing the beautiful man's forehead and closing his eyes.
Immediately going back to the welcoming blackness of sweat dreamless sleep. _____________________________________________
The next time he woke up was because Tim wasn't next to him.
Jason didn't know exactly why he woke up because of that, but the moment Tim's weight left his body his eyes snapped open, meating beautiful blue eyes.
Tim smiled at him, a sleepy smile. His hair a whole lot of mess and Jason's heart beated faster as he smiled back.
The sun was already in the middle of the sky and the clock on the wall said it was already one A.M.
"Mornin' Jay" Tim whispered.
"Morning baby clown" _____________________________________________
They ate together, silence surrounding them in the most comfortable way.
Jason couldn't exactly point it out but something about Tim made him.... just feel whole. Like he didn't felt since he woke up six feet deep.
Both of them were in Jason clothes and Jason found out that for some unknown reason, white looked better at pale skin.
And Tim.. Tim was the most beautiful human he saw. His blue eyes, his black long hair, and this perfect smile. Jason started asking what he fucking did right to get this angel. _____________________________________________
He didn't knew how it happened but Tim's hot wet mouth was on him and he was practically in heaven.
His hands gripped the black hair and pulled slightly, making Tim moan and himself gasping as the moans vibrate on him.
He was definitely in heaven and this angel between his legs was the most perfect thing to ever happen to him.
"Oh God" he said and moaned Tim's name, his legs shacking.
"Tim I'm about to-" and with that he came down Tim's throat, the angel swallowed it and looked him in the eyes, giving him this beautiful smile. And well, Jason might die happy this time around. _____________________________________________
This night he hugged Tim closed to him, the smaller man hugging him back.
Outside the words 6 Days colored the black sky with pink, green and yellow.
_____________________________________________
It was simple. Very simple, and Jason did it already so why the hell is he freaking out?
Harley and Ivy started a riot somewhere in the city while Catwoman helped them in Arkham and said that she's going to take care of the security. So from there they were alone.
And it wasn't like he didn't knew the plane by heart, it's just that it really is happening. He's going to kill the Joker. They're going to kill the Joker.
And it's not a dream. The mother fucking clown is going to laugh for the last time. _____________________________________________
Each floor has a minimum of two guards, thanks to Killer Croc Arkham was down six guards, so floors 1-3 only had one guard each during the day (Because Gotham’s criminals are all geniuses and think that night is the best time for a breakout).
So doubling up only happened at night on these floors until the guards either recovered or replacements were vetted and hired.
Floors 4-5 had double guards at all times and floor 6 was more storage and extra holding cells than anything else right now.
Thanks to Harley and Ivy's riot there weren't a lot of guards where they were, everyone waiting to catch the two. Catwoman didn't lied about helping them from afar as every door opened to them without problems. _____________________________________________
The elevator doors opened at the fourth floor, Jason noted that there weren't any guards around, wondering what Catwoman did as he heard the muffled noise of an alarm from the floor above them.
Jason walked to the guard station and peeked in to see two men slumped over and unconscious. From the looks of it they have been knocked out, 'help from afar ha?' he thought to himself, smiling a little. Looking over at Tim, the little clown being too quite for so long, the teen smiled, his skin somehow more pale than normal, and his gun at hand. Jason nodded to him and Tim did the peace sign.
They followed a hallway around behind the booth and came up on a large metal door. They waited couple of seconds and the door opened, revealing another hallway with another large metal door several yards down. There were three such doors in their's way and each one opened and closed behind them, making them closer and closer to the goal.
Jason paused and took a deep breath before the final door. This is it. This stupid clown is as good as dead. The door opened.
And there was the Joker, laying on a thin metal like bed that was bolted to the wall.
All that stood between them and the Joker was a wall of bulletproof wall with several inches thick with small round air holes cut evenly to allow air to flow into the (if it could even be called that) room.
The Joker slowly rolled off the bed when he saw them, and came to stand in front of the clear wall, a sick smile on his face. “Well, well, well, what have we here? Visitors? Oh, I know you!" He said as he looked at Tim, his grin getting wider "You're my little lamb. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!”
Jason's heart started to beat faster, looking at Tim's hand gripping the gun so tight that his fingers turned whiter than usual.
"I'm not" Tim said, his voice quite.
"What did you said little lamb? Talk louder for papa"
Tim smiled, a small smile that made Jason question if he's going to follow the plan or not.
And of he really think about it, he was never told about this part of the plan... How will they kill the Joker?
"JJ?"
"I'm not a fucking lamb you old fucker" Tim said and shoot.

(requested by mathmaticalknight; continuing from this)
As Tomimi settled into her seat for the Tail Club meeting, and Provence took a breath to start talking, a pair of small hands knocked on the door. The group turned their attention to the door as the Lupo went forward with the whole “speaking” thing. “Yes?”
“The posters said this is a club for people with tails?” Suzuran peeked around the door. “I have a lot of tails, and I have some questions about it.”
“Morti thought I should come, too,” Shamare said, also peering around the door. She’d actually come because Suzuran had invited her, but that wasn’t the point.
The trio (including a sort-of-visible Manticore) set about adding some more seats to their circle, but as they did, there was another knock. “Hey, I saw a poster for a ‘Tail Club.’ Is this enough tail to join?” Pramanix’s mound of Feline floof slapped the threshold as she walked into view.
“Sure!” Provence gestured to the chair circle. “We’re working on widening the circle right now, but we’re pretty sure we have enough chairs for everyone.”
“We brought a few just in case!” Blemishine replied to an unverbalized question as she, her sister, and her aunt walked in as well. Tripling in the span of one meeting...what a turnout!
The club leader, once everyone was settled in, stood up to address them. “Wow. Um, first, I’m glad everyone could make it! We’ll go around the room and get everyone’s names, but before we do, I just want to make sure we’re all on the same page. I know Manty’s cute poster calls us ‘Tail Club,’ but we’re not an after-school club or something; we’re a support group and an activist group more than anything, in that we lobby the Doctor and the rest of leadership on behalf of the needs of Operators, ourselves included, with tails that are especially cumbersome, high-maintenance, or just...big. Alright, with that out of the way, I’m Provence! Hi! I’m the president, I guess, of the Tail Club, and no, it’s not because I have the biggest tail. We might actually do an election or something now that we have more members...hmm. We’ll figure it out! Alright, right or left, you two pick.”
“I-I’ll go...” Manticore stood up as the Lupo sat down. “I’m the club’s...vice-president. If you have...any questions, you can...come and find me, or...you can tell Estelle or Tomimi...and they’ll find me...and then I’ll find you...Thank you...”
“Codename’s Whislash, but go on ahead and call me Zofia. Brought myself and my sisters with me when I saw the poster because, well, we’ve got fluffy business in the back and wanna be in solidarity with similar folks. It’s neat to see all kinds of tail- what are you giggling about, Maria?”
Blemishine didn’t stifle her laughter as she took her turn. “Nothing, aun- ‘sis.’ Maria ‘Blemishine’ Nearl at your service!”
“And I am Margaret ‘Nearl’ Nearl.” She smiled at the repetition. “Thank you for taking the initiative and starting this group, Provence; the wider thresholds have already saved me at least one embarrassing entrapment.”
“No problem, but Tomimi’s the one to thank for that one.” The president gestured to the Archosaurian, who gave a little wave as everyone else in the room clapped.
Suzuran waited for the applause to subside before taking her turn. “Good afternoon. I’m Lisa, or Suzuran, as you like. I have a lot of tails, which is like having one big tail, and I saw the poster and thought my friend Shamare might want some help, too. Isn’t that right, Shamare?”
“Um...Yeah.” The Vulpo’s misdirection had been foiled, so she just carried on. “Morti’s gonna sit with me, even though he doesn’t have a big tail, because he’ll remember if I forget what we talk about. He likes being in the same room as priestesses, too.”
“Your doll understands flattery, then. That’s interesting. Anya ‘Pramanix’ Silverash, Karlan Saintess and in need of some tail care advice - I’m getting tired of shedding fur on corners. I’ll help if I can, too, but most of you have a lot more to worry about than me, it looks like.” It was actually kind of humbling for the Feline to sit in a room with so many people with Tails of Unusual Size. Hers was fluffy and silky smooth, true, but just look at the Archosaurian.
The Archosaurian whose turn it was, in fact. “Hi. I’m Tomimi, and that’s the only name I have. I came here for help, and Provence and Manty have been really helpful, and they’re really nice, so I keep coming back. Let’s, uh...Let’s all get along!” She learned that one from Young Things Magazine.
“Thank you, Tommy!” Provence clapped her hands; she could already tell she was going to enjoy this ‘proper president’ thing. “Alright, first order of business for our first-timers: what problems are you having? Anya, you mentioned yours a bit already, so would you be willing to start?”
“Oh, sure. I’ve always had a fluffy tail, and it’s pretty versatile, but there’s this one thing that’s always bugged me about it...”
After going around the room, sharing some tips and tricks for better grooming, and even breaking off into groups for tail-brushing time (Zofia suggested it, and everyone liked the sound of it), the meeting adjourned after a productive two-hour session. Suzuran found a broom to sweep up the sheddings (including scales from Tomimi - she was nearly done with her shedding cycle, but not quite), and Shamare waited for her in a chair near the entrance, whispering to Morti. Tomimi approached her, curious. “Shamare?”
“Hmm?” The harbinger frowned. “It’s rude to interrupt a conversation.”
“You can hear him?” She leaned in, trying to catch its voice.
The Vulpo pulled back into the upholstery. “I can. Do you want to?”
“I don’t think so.” The Caster sat on the floor in front of her. “Is he nice?”
“He takes the bad feelings away, and he likes talking to people.” She rubbed his head, and Tomimi could’ve sworn the stitched smile curled a little more.
That convinced her. “Did you make Morti?”
“No,” Shamare replied, “but I did give him his body.”
“Could you make a doll for me to give to my girlfriend? I don’t want her to be lonely when she’s busy in her office.”
The oracle blinked. “You want me to do that?”
“Mmhmm.” The Archosaurian gave her a toothy smile. “I like your style.”
“...Okay, but you have to get me the stuffing. My doctor found out I stuffed Morti with Originum and she wasn’t happy, but I need something to put in your doll.” The Vulpo didn’t want to blush, but it seemed Morti didn’t feel like intervening for her.
Suzuran skipped over to the pair, sweeping finished. “Hi, Tommy! Ready to go, Shamare?”
“One more thing.” She hopped off her chair. “Can I have one of your scales?”
“Okay.” The Caster lifted her tail and smacked the ground; a small tremor shook their immediate vicinity, and several scales fell off.
Shamare took a few, put the rest in the bucket her friend had filled while sweeping, and nodded to Tomimi. “I’ll bring your doll to the next meeting.”
“Thanks.” She watched the pair leave, cocking her head. ‘Those two are like opposites...Just like Gav and me.’
“Well, I didn’t meet any cute bachelors, but the tail talk is super nice,” Whislash noted as the Nearls packed up their chairs.
Provence chuckled. “Is that why you really came, Zofia?”
“M-maybe.” She sighed. “Look, I don’t like making a big deal out of it, since I’m only the eldest by a couple years, but it’s getting harder to find my kind of guy out in the wild. You have someone special?”
“Sure do! My girlfriend and I met here at Rhodes Island, actually.”
The Kuranta’s ears perked up as her nieces left her to her conversation; they had other stuff to do, especially while she was distracted. “Girlfriend? That’s okay here?”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Then the Lupo remembered where the Nearls were from. “Oh, right, you’re from Kazimierz. Yeah, RI doesn’t discriminate like some other companies...or governments, either.”
“Huh...You, uh, know anyone on the market? They don’t even have to be that cute.” Saying the words out loud made her blush.
The Sniper smiled as she slipped her phone out of her pocket. “Actually, I think I know just the person. Walk and talk?”
“Sure!” Whislash’s tail swished behind her as she turned to leave, glowing a bit. “Ooh, there’s a movie playing tonight I’ve been wanting to see, if they like that kinda thing.”
“You can ask them - I’m sending you their number now.” Provence looked back as she passed the light switch; Tomimi was still there, so she left them on.
Manty was, too, although the Lupo had missed her at a glance; after all, they had a double date themselves...the Manticore needed her girlfriend to bear witness to the thicc she was exposed to on a daily basis. It just wasn’t fair. “Hey, Tommy...why do you think...everyone started coming today? We’ve had posters...for a couple weeks now.”
“Oh, Gav started telling people about it, too.” The Archosaurian was still seated in front of the chair. “Estelle is an Archosaurian, isn’t she?”
“She is...Why do you ask?”
The Caster looked back at her tail. “In my village, there’s a lot of arguing about which is better - big or small tails. I wonder if other Archosaurians have that debate, too.”
...The Specialist had a feeling she knew the answer to that.

Exchanges and Compromises - Chapter 20
The dinner was just as Jason expected, bland, dull, a lot of formalities in which Bane was visibly struggling with and did not even bother to pretend to know the difference between steak or salad forks. Jason, Dick, and Tim managed to keep the conversation alive and light, somehow without offending the formality of the dinner. Good thing, Jason thought, that The League had taught him of formal dinner etiquette and whatnot, otherwise he would have been slurping the baiwang with the soup spoon instead of the Chinese soup spoon provided by Alfred - like Bane.
Dick, for all of his lack of etiquette education, won in the manners division - regardless of the fact that Tim was helping him by pointing out which cutlery should be used for what. At the very least, he was not beneath asking what he wasn't sure of.
The day after was a little duller. Alfred merely informed them that the police were there along with the District Attorney, Harvey Dent, to arrest Bane on several counts of murder. Bane was arrested nearly without a fight - he had been purged of his venom strength and knew that he had no chance against some of the cops who were ready to taser him.
Jason was... frankly, a little disappointed.
"Would've been nice if there was a brawl or something," Dick voiced Jason's thought out loud just as he walked outside.
"Oh, goodness, I'm just glad this is over," Bruce commented, glaring apprehensively at Dick's back as the latter walked away with Damian. There was a good long silence before he added, "I presume now that Bane is out of this house, Damian will no longer need you two? I mean, he has me now - and his grandparents." he pointed out.
"I have vowed to guard Damian until he is an adult," Jason replied simply. Ignoring Bruce's sudden change of expression. "it is my order."
"Well, Talia... no offense. But Talia won't-- is no longer around to hold you accountable." Bruce argued.
"No, she's not. But Damian is." Jason looked at the child, sitting under one of the Manor's massive trees with a thick sketchbook before him. Dick, Jason knew, was on the tree. Even with Bane arrested, Oracle had warned that as long as he's not fully incarcerated in a maximum-security facility, he could still either get out and hurt the Waynes - including Damian. Therefore Jason asked Dick to remain with them for a little while longer. Thankfully, Dick didn't mind.
"He's a child. Children adapt well with changes of environments," Bruce said. "and if you're afraid that Bane would come back, I can hire some bodyguards for him."
Jason managed to hold back his smirk. People always thought that he was there to protect Damian; not realizing that he was protecting others from Damian's temper. Instead, he smarted, "like you protected your parents by sending them overseas."
"Oh, now, that's not fair." Bruce protested. "It was... we all thought that... at least mother and I..." he didn't finish his sentence as he exhaled exasperatedly. "His DNA check is back," he continued after a few moments of silence.
"Obviously, he hasn't a drop of Wayne blood in him," Jason suggested, a little dryly. "Something anyone with knowledge of the molecular structure of DNA would have known right away. You accepted Damian right away because you saw he has your mother's ears, in spite of his green eyes. Yet you doubted your father's denial in spite of the fact that there is nothing on Bane that resembled any of you - including about all of the portraits of your ancestors.
"And then there's something else I realized. Bane came with nothing; whereas Damian came with the Al Ghul wealth. You were more accepting because Damian would not equal splitting the Wayne wealth..."
"That is not true!" Bruce growled. "I would not have turned Damian away even if he was not Talia's child. He is my child, and I know that he is!"
"Then we're back to my initial point: You were unable to defend your parents because you did not have 100% faith in their virtues. The Al Ghuls are known leaders of the League of Assassins, to which the leadership shall now be Damian's. What will be your argument, when he decides to take over the League fully? 'Oh, I can't be associated with criminals, even if said crimes were just allegation and not a video recording of someone snapping off another person's neck'?" Jason sneered. "Now, Mister Wayne. I also would like to remind you, that I have Damian's legal custody. If you insist I should leave, I shall bring him along."
"You can't do that," Bruce scowled. "He's my biological child..."
"You have studied your country's laws, Mister Wayne. But you forgot the one crucial thing: Damian is not your country's boy by any means other than your claim." Jason mentally realized that he has placed one of his ace cards onto the table. But he honestly prefers this kind of conversation not to be had when Damian is present. And from the looks of it, he has packed his sketching materials and was making his way back indoors. "Do not try to deny Damian's access to me, or the League, Mr Wayne. He is not yours to manipulate," he added softly while Damian was still out of range.
"Hey guys, Damian and I are hungry," Dick announced as they went past the door. "Think Alfred would let us have cookies?"
"He's the one who is hungry, Todd," Damian told Jason. "I shall wait until tea time for the cookies. It is only a mere hour away."
"Why don't you scrub up a little? Tea should be ready by the time you're done." Bruce suggested.
Damian's scowl could have killed a cobra. "While I am planning on refreshing myself, father, it would be kind of you to cease directing me as if I am an imbecile," he stated, and for the second time in less than 10 minutes, Jason bit the inside of his cheek to stop a snicker.
Bruce, however, was not amused at Damian. "Well! That is not what a child should say to his father!" he admonished.
"Todd," Damian glared at Jason. "Did you not inform Mr Wayne here that I merely referred to him as 'father' due to common societal practices?" he asked with air quotes around the word 'father'.
"I have informed him that, Damian," Jason assured him.
"Do remind him on a daily basis that I am not obliged to remain here beyond what is demanded by his country's societal norms." Damian continued.
"I shall, Damian," Jason replied.
"Very well, I shall be in my quarters until tea time. You might consider feeding Grayson here, Todd," Damian said dismissively.
"I actually have some matters to discuss with you, Damian, if you don't mind. I think Grayson can fend for himself just fine," Jason told him.
"I don't mind. Let us, then." Damian said, leading the way back to his room.
Jason nodded politely to Bruce and motioned Dick to join him. "Mr Wayne, Grayson."
As they left Bruce, still standing in confusion - probably - Dick remarked, "ouch," softly.
"Go on and get your own cookies, Grayson," Jason remarked.
"I need to discuss something with you, too. You two, actually, somewhere safe." Dick said. Both Jason and Damian paused their steps. "Yeah, and we might need to call upon a certain bird for backup," Dick added, almost nonchalantly. It was not until then that Jason noticed the tenseness on his shoulders. He remembered that Dick, too, was trained to keep an eye out for danger.
"You go on ahead with Damian, I'll ask Alfred if he may have tea in his quarters." Jason decided. Damian nodded, realizing the urgency in Dick's posture, and stepped a little closer to Dick as Jason turned the other way.
Whatever it is Dick has to say, Jason could be certain now that besides himself, Dick would protect Damian fiercely. And/or protect other, possibly innocent people, from Damian's tempers.
He was just wondering why did it seem that Bruce Wayne was so intent on removing him.
And why Dr and Mrs Wayne would suddenly take a trip to Europe right after they were proverbially and literally freed from Bane.
Alfred, as usual, was in the kitchen preparing for tea time. In spite of being Americans, the Waynes seemed to like the habit of afternoon tea time.
Jason told Alfred of Damian's request, and Alfred nodded slowly. "Is Master Bruce still in the sun-room, then?" he asked.
"Last time I saw him, yeah."
"Ah, then... young Jason, may an old man request something from you and your vast knowledge of herbs?" Alfred's face was as impassive as ever when he said that, just a shade before he returned to his task of preparing some small sandwiches. But Jason was a little confused. Why would Alfred ask him for herbs? As far as Jason could tell, he was as healthy as... well, someone Jason's age, which has got to be at least a third of Alfred's; half at most. Jason didn't think that Alfred was any older than mid- to late-40s.
"Sure, how can I help?" he answered, anyway.
"Oh, I was wondering if there is any method you may suggest to... how do I put it... Chafe off surgical remains within oneself? I have had work done for my nose, you see, on a whim as a young lad; and I do not believe it looks becoming on me as I age. I feel as if it makes me look like another person is inhabiting my body, as Master Bruce was wont to say."
Jason blinked, and partially wished Dick was there to confirm his thoughts. In spite of being the exact same height as Jason, Alfred was bowing his head a little as he spoke; and Jason knew that there was a surveillance camera that would be able to record their conversation in the kitchen. His shoulders were tenser than the task of cutting bread would have required.
"Well, wow... okay. I'll need to actually search my books. You know some of the ladies back then would apply something to their skin for scars or bruises. But I'm not sure if it'll work on surgical stuff. I'll let you know?" Jason replied carefully.
"Thank you, Jason, for considering. While it shames me for being vain, it is... rather crucial." Alfred smiled at him.
"No problem, Alf," Jason patted him on the shoulder and made his way back to Damian's room - where each and every surveillance device has been disabled and/or misdirected by the combination of Tim, Barbara, and Damian's own skills.
Once Jason walked in and closed the doors of Damian's room behind him, he was greeted by both Damian and Dick's voices.
"That man is not my father, Todd! I believe my grandparents may still be in danger!" Damian exclaimed as Dick stormed over and announced 'There was an increase of drone activities outside, that's why I brought Damian in!' - followed by Damian and Dick glaring at each other, and Damian said, "Todd, we might need to acquire some new exit strategy!" at the same time as Dick saying, 'I've sent a text to Tim, but he hasn't answered. I've texted Babs, though!'
Jason cringed at them. "Whoa! Hold up! If this is how you two kids report, nobody would need surveillance equipment to hear you from Gotham Harbor!" he snarled. The two promptly stopped and glared at each other again, as if they both were hoping to have Superman's laser vision or something. "Okay, I've heard you both, and I'm upping the ante. Alfred just asked me practically for a method to dissolve foreign objects inside someone's body and allude that someone in the house is not who they seemed. And said someone might be Bruce."
Damian threw his fist to the air, stating, "I knew it!"
Dick's eyes were wide as saucers. "Okay... I would... I've wanted to say the same thing since we got in. But I was kinda scared I might be wrong. What makes you sure?"
"Alfred referred to Bruce in the past tense when talking to me," Jason said. "You? --wait, no, Damian first."
"He looked and behaved differently than the videos mother had shown me," Damian replied.
"I second Damian on this. Well, dude... we need to communicate better, don't we?" Dick said, telling the last bit toward Damian. "I've only met him once, way back when-- when my parents were... you know. But like I've told you, I remember everything from that day as if it has just happened. I remember Bruce Wayne was there with a blonde girl wearing chinchilla fur, a 50s hairdo, and an actual pearl pin. But when my parents... right after, I saw him directing traffic of people out of the tent calmly. His presence then was literally calming, like, everyone was looking at him for direction. This Bruce... generally, looked too nervous on everything; if that makes sense."
Jason thought a moment. Dick was really good at reading people's body language - even the most stoic Alfred. Before Bane was removed, Dick's assessment of Alfred was that he was uncomfortable with Bane, yet very welcoming of Damian. Thus his immediate trust in Alfred. However, since Bane was arrested and proven to not have been a Wayne; Jason hasn't got the chance to ask Dick to re-assess Alfred.
"Okay, I'll retrieve the video footage of your dad from 10 years ago from the League's servers. We'll cross-check. We'll tell the Birds once we're sure, yeah?" Jason suggested.
"Agreed," Damian nodded slowly.
"I'll have Tim keeping an eye on the Doc and Missus while we're at it, though. I mean, you know, precautions and all." Dick suggested.
"Okay, call Tim. If he doesn't answer, call Babs or his mom. I'd like this whole thing settled quickly before Bruce can do anything to harm Damian." Jason huffed a breath slowly, wondering what the hell is it with the Waynes that seemed to run on endless conspiracy theories, anyway.

(ONE SHOT) I see ghosts in their smiles DC
A03
Bruce never fully understood the relationship between Flash and Green Lantern. At a glance, they were so different that logically one would think that they'd fight more than they had, but that had never been the case; Barry and Hal had bickered, had argued, but rarely ever fought. Barry had been mild mannered and polite, while Hal was brash and confident, but these differences hadn’t driven them apart, in fact, it had brought them together. The two of them had been a pair on and off of missions, though many hadn't known the true extent.
Not until it was too late.
The Founders though, they’d all been well aware. They’d had a front row seat to the evolution of the relationship between the two of their more colourful members. They’d seen the two of them go from acquaintances to teammates, to friends, and then to lovers. They’d all teased them in their own ways, found them wrapped around each other in some way or another; they’d interrupted dates for missions, had stumbled across them in embarrassingly compromising situations, had even offered them their blessings, because despite everything, Barry and Hal were good for each other. Somehow, despite being the two most scattered members of the League, they managed to ground each other.
Barry and Hal had been a good pair, but Barry’s death had been the start of Hal’s downward spiral. Barry’s death had been a wake up call for them all, in the same way Jason’s death had been for Bruce; they’d all known, of course, that they were flirting with death everyday, but it hadn’t truly sunk in for a lot of them until Barry had sacrificed himself to save the world.
Now, they were both gone. Both dead; and despite all the differences Bruce had had with them - Jordan more so than Barry - he misses them.
He misses the old Flash and Green Lantern, more than he ever thought he would. It makes the fact that there’s two new heroes in their place all the more painful.
Wally West and Kyle Rayner.
Bruce has known Wally since the boy was a lanky teen in yellow following his uncle like a cheerful, friendly shadow. He’s known the young man since he was a child, and it’s strange, seeing him in Barry’s place. It’s thrown all of them off balance, having one of the children they helped train standing among them. Wally’s the Flash now, a young man, but Bruce still looks at him and sees the child that used to come over every weekend to play with Dick.
Kyle Rayner doesn’t have that same history. For all intents and purposes, he had been a normal kid until the ring had chosen him and he’d become the last Green Lantern in the galaxy. He’s a nice enough kid, of an age with Bruce’s own boys, with a relatively clean record that paints an image of a friendly, easy-going artist with his head in the clouds. He’s good at what he does, despite learning it all on his own, and mostly competent despite how new he was at hero-ing. But Hal’s actions had proved that they had to be wary of Lanterns, proved that Bruce had gotten too complacent around his teammates, and he wouldn’t make that mistake again. Bruce keeps the new Lantern at an arm’s distance, close enough to stop if he loses it too.
Watching them together is like looking at ghosts.
"It's like watching them all over again." Clark’s voice is nostalgic and sad, and Bruce very pointedly forces his eyes away from the two young men huddled together near the back of the cafeteria. Superman’s eyes are distant, but there's a light of understanding inside of them when he meets the other hero’s gaze.
Clark knows him too well.
Despite not answering verbally, Bruce inclines his head and grunts.
Wally and Kyle had been a couple no one had suspected, not with the way the two of them bickered. They’re both young, rash, impetuous, and it tends to lend to an image of two young cats hissing and spitting over territory; somehow, without any of them really noticing, the two youngest main roster members of the League had drifted together and meshed despite everything. The arguing had gone from genuine antagonism to something fun and easy that others often found amusing in darker situations.
Now, it wasn’t surprising to see them tucked together with some game or another, or surrounded by snacks in the common room. There had been plenty of talk between the older members of the League, those who had known about their predecessors’ relationship, about another iconic Flash-Green Lantern duo, to the point where Bruce almost decides to not put the two young men on missions together any more, just to avoid having to look at ghosts every day.
But they were good at what they do, and they work well together, despite their bickering, almost like they know instinctively what the other needs in the thick of things without needing to communicate. They tend to poke each other into going beyond their limits with well-placed quips and jokes, and they get the job done quickly and efficiently.
It really was like looking at Barry and Hal again, and maybe that wasn’t a good thing, considering Barry’s death had just been the start of Jordan’s spiral.
Clark offers him a sympathetic smile, “The kids are growing up fast.” The Kryptonian hums slightly, slanting him a slight look. “I always thought it would be Dick and Wally in the end.”
He’d thought the same too, but Dick wouldn’t appreciate his thoughts on it.
Bruce winces slightly, “Nightwing’s happy with Starfire and Oracle.” He says. He’d always thought the same, with the way his ward and Barry’s nephew had been as teens; he knew they’d tried it, had experimented together quite frequently, just like he knew they ended it on good terms as friends, because it was what worked best for them, in the end.
They’d been good together, but they’d decided they were better as friends and teammates, and Bruce would respect that choice. It was the least he could do, after everything he’d put Dick through.
Clark nods his head, right as a burst of laughter drags both of their attention back to where Kyle and Wally are sitting. At some point, Kyle had flipped his sketchbook construct to show whatever he had been drawing to the redhead, who had dissolved into cackles at whatever was on the page, snickering into his food. As they watch, the young Green Lantern grins boyishly, leaning forward to give the speedster a quick peck on the cheek before shoving a hand full of fries into Wally’s mouth and laughing himself.
Around them, the noise had drawn the attention of other heroes in the cafeteria, and Bruce doesn’t need to look to see that they’re all softening at the sight of the two young men.
“They’re their own people.” Bruce says finally, “Their own heroes.”
Clark nods, expression soft, “It’s different.” He admits, “But sometimes I still end up calling them by another name.” He shrugs, looking repentant, when Bruce frowns at him. “I called Wally, Barry the other day during monitor duty, because he said something that reminded me too much of him. I mean, it’s not surprising that he would act like Barry - but it throws me off sometimes.” Clark looks sheepish, apologetic, “It’s strange, having Wally working with us. He’s a good kid, but-”
“-But he’s not Barry.” Bruce agrees with a sigh. “We always knew he would take over as the Flash after Barry.” Barry hadn’t exactly been quiet about it; he’d been so proud of his nephew, and would tell anyone who listened that Wally would become the Flash someday, that he’d be even better than Barry.
“I’d always hoped it would be because Barry retired.” Clark says sadly, “Have a few kids; they did such a good job with Wally. Maybe he and Iris would have managed to talk Hal into coming with them - Hal never could deny them anything, even if he tried to act tough.”
But they were all dead - Iris first, then Barry, and then Jordan.
“Kyle’s a good kid, too.” Superman continues, “Ernest, creative, even if he’s a little rough around the edges. The Lanterns would have loved him - probably would have taken him under their wings.”
Bruce grunts, and Clark slants him a knowing look. As much as he likes Rayner as a person, or how much he reminds him of Dick, he can’t trust him, not after Jordan proved to them how dangerous an uncontrolled Lantern could be.
“He’s not Hal, Bruce.” Clark points out, “And Hal did the right thing, in the end - thanks to him.”
“Jordan proved that I was getting too complacent.” Bruce says blankly, “Every hero here is just one bad day away from becoming the very thing we fight.”
Clark sighs, leaning forward to press a kiss against Bruce’s cheek, there and gone. “My break’s over.” The Kryptonian says apologetically, smiling. “You should go home and get some sleep, Bruce. A full eight hours, at least.”
Another laugh rings out, and Bruce turns his head just enough to see that Wally had scooted his chair closer to Kyle’s, their knees bumping, and he’s moving to playfully pull the dark haired Lantern closer to press their lips together with a cheeky grin. The ketchup smeared across the artist’s cheek was proof enough of what they had been doing before.
It’s damningly charming, and sweet, but all Bruce can think when he sees them is that there’s a chance they could end up in the same situation as Barry and Hal. There’s too many ghosts in his head, too many skeletons in his closet, and two of them wear crimson and green.
