Steve can see it in Max. That same loneliness and ache that he finds in himself. For him, itā€™s result of his parents leaving with no intent to return to him unless absolutely necessary.
He knows he was an accident. Or rather a mistake as his father used to call him when he was particularly angry. But it made sense to him. Steve's the reason his father had to marry his mother. He left him "trapped." And maybe no one says it out loud, but he can tell his mother feels the same way too.
But they must keep up appearances, right?
Which is what Max has been trying to do since Billy died, El moved away, and it's been just her and her mom. But she's been going about it through a different route - pushing people away all while pretending things are fine. But Steve sees the way she picks up the broken pieces of her mom and tries to put them back together - Steve's had to do the same thing before.
So, he starts sticking around a little longer. Offering her more rides to the arcade and around town to pick up groceries when she needs to. Sometimes he'll tell her about a new recipe he's been trying for a casserole and pick up the ingredients, pretending like the milk and butter he bought will spoil by the time he drives home from her trailer.
Of course, they both know it's a lie, but Max humors him and plays along. She'll let him cook dinner while she picks up the bottles her mom left on the floor, dumps out the overflowing ashtray, and feeds the dog. Usually, Steve will ask her what she's learning in school and linger a little longer than usual in hopes that she'll say more than the usual, "I don't know. A bunch of boring stuff."
But lingering has gotten a lot of things out of Max such as her love for Kate Bush, a story about El and how much she misses her, and short quips about Lucas before she gets a sad smile on her face. Steve doesn't really know what to say most of the time, but he hopes that just being there will help.
Unfortunately, lingering and just being there has led him to his current predicament of none other than Eddie "The Freak" Munson sitting on the hood of his car glaring at him as he walks out of Max's place. Steve jumps a little, startled by the figure on his car and becoming more hostile as he sees the expression on his face. He shoves his hands in his pockets and slows his pace. "Is there a problem?"
Eddie snorts humorlessly. "Christ. You're really going to pretend like there's nothing wrong with what's happening?"
Steve's brows furrow, entirely missing whatever point he's trying to make.
Eddie stands up and stalks toward him. "I see you, you know. Always lurking around when her mom isn't home. Coming out of her trailer late at night."
Steve laughs, finally understanding the absurd conclusion he's come to. "Jesus, man. You're delusional."
Steve doesn't expect it, but Eddie sharply shoves his chest and grits, "I don't fucking lie to me, Harrington."
Steve holds his hands up. "I'm not," he firmly states. "Nothing like that is happening here. I'm glad you're looking out for her, but it isn't like that."
"Do you expect me to believe that? Maybe this is why you're always hanging around Henderson and the other kids."
Steve crosses his arms and his jaw tenses. "I'm not a fucking pervert or a pedophile if that's what you're trying to say. I'm just looking after them."
"Why?" Eddie asks, dramatically opening his arms, "Why would King Steve adopt a group of misfits to take under his wing? See, the math isn't adding up."
Usually, Steve would just brush it off and tell the person to fuck off and mind their own business. But his parents have just left town again without leaving a note and Max had snapped when Steve tried to help her clean the place because it looked worse than usual, and he was just generally feeling like shit and angry at his parents and Max's parents for not being there. So he broke, "Because I don't want Max to end up like me! I don't want any of those kids to grow up without a role model. And god forbid if any of those other kids' parents fuck up, and theyā€™re left with only me. I need them to know that I'm there for them! Because sometimes it feels like whenever the world goes to shit, I'm the only one who is there, and I plan to stay there, okay?!"
He finishes his rant breathing a little heavier than usual and noticing that a few of the lights in the trailers have turned on around them. He looks around and awkwardly nods to the people glaring out their windows. God, he needs to get a grip.
When he turns back to Eddie, he notices the conflicted expression, jaw dropped, eyebrows knitted together, eyes searching him as if he's still wondering if he's lying.
A door creaks open behind them and Steve curses under his breath as he hears Max say, "Eddie, leave him alone. Do you really think I would hook up with my damn babysitter? Jeez."
"Language," Steve quietly lectures as the door swings shut. He runs his hands over his face and takes a deep breath. It's been a long fucking day.
A hand lands on his arm and tugs him away from Max's trailer. Steve glances up at Eddie, leading him across the way. "Where are we going?"
"My place," Eddie says.
"Why?"
"So we can talk."
God, the last thing he wants to do is talk to Eddie of all people, the guy he's been actively avoiding since Dustin started worshipping the ground - or rather tables - he walks on. But he lets himself be pulled away in the trailer and practically deposited on the couch in the living room.
He glances up and comments, "That's a lot of mugs."
"My uncle's, but that's not what I wanted to... Christ," Eddie says, pacing in front of Steve and tugging his hair in front of his face. The anxious display makes Steve feel even more tired, but he lets him pace. God, what is he even doing here?
"I'm sorry," Eddie blurts out. "I'm just..." he trails off and rushes over to grab a stool a few feet away before dragging it in front of the couch. He sits on it but his leg still holds that nervous energy as it rapidly bounces up and down. "I jumped to conclusions, and it was really shitty of me, man. I just... didn't believe what Henderson was saying about you and thought 'Oh, this makes way more sense than Steve Harrington being a good dude.' And I'm sorry to accuse you of that. And I... I didn't know about your... parents and stuff. Like I knew they were away a lot because of your parties but... I just never connected the dots. And I'm sorry. No one deserves that shit, man."
Steve doesn't know what to do this whole interaction, especially with it coming from Eddie Munson who he doesn't think he's ever talked to before this moment, but... he needs to hear it. God, he needs to hear it.
Of course, he can't let him know this, so he does what he's best at and brushes it off. "It's fine. You were just looking out for the kids. And really just ignore what I said back there, it isn't that big of a deal."
Eddie worries his bottom lip before he blurts out, "I know what it's like." He pauses and takes a deep breath. "I mean, I know what it's like to have... absent parents. But in my case, eventually, my uncle Wayne took me in, and I can only imagine if he didn't." He gives him a pointed look and lowers his voice, "Do you have someone like that?"
A big part of Steve wants to leave right now, and he knows there's nothing stopping him. But a bigger part of him needs to stay. Needs to talk about the emptiness in his house that he can never truly escape at the end of the day that he canā€™t talk to anyone about. Because he's not supposed to be weak. He's supposed to take care of the others. So he admits, "No, I don't have... anyone like that. Except Robin but..."
"That's different," Eddie finishes the thought for him.
Steve nods. He loves Robin, but he loves her as a platonic soulmate and not as a parent figure in his life. "You know, I once had this basketball coach in middle school - Mr. Weston. And I remember looking up to him so much. I wanted to be just like him, and I would go to his office during lunch and ask him for advice or talk about dumb shit that my father would never talk about. But he never shamed me for my questions. And sometimes he even packed an extra dessert for me." Steve smiles at the memories and runs a hand through his hair, remembering the day he got the news. "But one time, when I went to his office, he had this look on his face. And I just knew it was bad news. And really, it wasn't bad news to him because his wife was pregnant. But she wanted to move a few states away to raise the kid closer to her family. And it wasn't his fault, you know? It wasn't like he purposely chose to move away from me, but I felt like I was abandoned again."
Steve wipes a tear from his eye and puts his head in his hands. "God, I don't know why I'm even telling you this story. Sorry."
"Don't apologize," Eddie says quickly. He pauses and shifts on the stool, his gaze being far away. "I remember him. He was one of the only gym teachers that defended me against all the shitty middle school bullies. He was a good person.ā€
Steve nods. God, he was a good person.
Eddie continues, ā€œI'm sorry that he left. And I bet he still regrets leaving you behind."
Steve leans back against the couch and looks away, shaking his head. "I bet he forgot about me."
"You're kind of hard to forget."
Steve looks at Eddie and sees a slight blush on his cheeks as he shakes his head and waves his hands as if trying to make the comment go away. "What I mean is that there's no way he's forgotten about you. Someone who you used to have lunch with all the time to the point of giving you free food... Nah, man. He remembers you. I think you may have been as important to him as he was to you."
The thought breaks away at a wall Steve had built up long ago. "Thanks," he practically whispers.
Eddie just smiles at him, small dimples appearing on his cheeks.
"You didn't deserve it either, you know," Steve says. "The absent parent stuff. Even with Wayne, they should've been here too."
Eddie's smile falters a bit as he swallows and looks at the ground. "Thanks," he mumbles. He looks up at Steve and comments, "Getting sappy with Steve Harrington. Who knew."
"Yeah, getting sappy with Eddie Munson," Steve echoes back at him.
Eddie laughs, "I'm surprised you even know my name."
"You're kind of hard to forget," Steve says easily.
That same blush comes back to Eddie who shifts in his chair a bit as if he needs to process the information with his whole body.
They sit in the moment for a bit before Eddie gets a somewhat serious look on his face and offers, "You know, I'm definitely not a parent figure or anything, but I'm always here and around to talk about that whole thing if you need to."
Steve's heart beats a little faster at the sheer genuineness. "Same here," he can't help but offer in return. He glances down at his watch and sighs, "It's getting late, so I better..."
"Right," Eddie says, standing up and leading him to the door. "Do you need water for the road or anything?"
Steve smiles and pats him on the back without thinking too hard about it. "I'm good, man. But thank you. For everything really."
"Sorry for being an asshole," Eddie apologizes again.
"Usually that's my line," Steve accidentally voices before cringing a bit, wondering further why Eddie's been so kind to him.
But as he opens the door, Eddie comments, "I don't know. It seems like Dustin was right about the whole reformed jock thing. Maybe your crown really has fallen - which is a good thing by the way."
Steve slightly smiles at him before he turns to leave. But he can't help but say, "I wonder what the neighbors will think about me leaving your trailer so late."
Eddie groans then laughs. "Sorry to ruin your image."
"I wouldn't mind," Steve replies, honestly unsure what he means by that. "Goodnight, Eddie."
"Goodnight, Steve," Eddie says, that same blush on his cheeks, only this time Steve isn't sure if it's something he said or a result of the cold night air.
In bed that night, Steve feels a slight weight lifted from him and can't help but feel like heā€™s a little less alone.

FUCK Liam Payne! I will no longer support OT5 and I donā€™t even want a 1D reunion anymore. Itā€™s so disgusting how so many of you defend these boys actions, but especially Liam, in light of everything that has come out. Maya Henry has every right to speak about her experiences. And itā€™s gross that Iā€™m seeing literal threads and tweets upon tweets of people calling her a liar and saying all these horrible things. Youā€™re proving Liam right! ā€œNo one will believe you anyways and the fans will always defend us!ā€
Is that not absolutely horrifying to yall? That this man is weaponizing his fanbase against women that he has treated poorly? And yall continue to enable him! Everything Maya said in her recent TikTok was true! Yall defend this abuser because of boy band nostalgia? What the fuck is wrong with some of yall? It makes me sick. Itā€™s always ā€œbelieve womenā€ ā€œbelieve victimsā€ until itā€™s your fave, right?!
We donā€™t know these people! ā€œHe would never do thatā€¦ā€ YOU DONT KNOW HIM! These parasocial relationships are going too far.
Whatā€™s scary is based on some of the stuff Maya said, I wonder if this is only the tip of the iceberg with Liam. Heā€™s probably done so much shit we donā€™t even know about. Maybe even the other boys???
I know Iā€™m ranting and no one probably cares but some of the tweets I saw defending Liam were so triggering and upsetting. Trending hashtags like #FreeLiam and #WeLoveYouLiam when a woman CONFIRMED that he abused her is just so sickening. This is why women donā€™t come forward. This is especially why victims of celebrities and people in power donā€™t come forward. Because this is how theyā€™re treated. Maya literally even confirmed that Liam and his team have tried to silence her and didnā€™t want the book to come out. I justā€¦ there are no more words.
This whole situation is so triggeringā€¦ Iā€™m so angry and upset.
Fuck Liam Payne and Fuck all of yall defending him.

"god I hate people who draw falsettos marvin this way" "fuck people who draw whizzer like that'"
*edited*
...guys, do you know what an art style is???? cuz', this seems pointed. I see what you mean. I completely agree.
But hear me out. Along with these posts, could we consider? Maybe? Some constructive criticism? People should draw them more accurate.
They SHOULD.
But how should they do it? Realism art? It's a foreign concept to me. I try and it absolutely fucking sucks and i'd love to be a part of this fandom showing that the characters are real people but
It's kind of
Just
Very "do this. No other explanation. Change it."
Look, I really want to. And I am trying. But could we like, make a space for teaching people? Cuz I am stumped dude like fr. Need some guidance.
sincerely, a tired lesbian who is infinitely more tired of seeing this everywhere. thanks

HELP BOROMIR DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER. I'M SO GLAD I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME
CUSS YEAH I DO look I used to be so neutral on Boromir and then like. Two years ago when my family was rewatching the trilogy over New Years (like we always do cause we're iconic like that) I went INSANE OKAY
HE JUST WANTS TO HELP HIS PEOPLE OKAY and the way the movies portray his dynamic with Aragorn is actually so so good? I went on this super long rant toward my friend @heckin-music-dork about it at the time lol but the gist of it is: he starts out so antagonistic toward Aragorn but then he does start to respect him as a warrior and a friend and fights by his side and there are times in Moria where you can almost see him taking cues from Aragorn, waiting to see what he's gonna do next and then he nerds out about Gondor to Aragorn in Lothlorien and just. It's a whole long rant but I'm obsessed with him now and I really, really wish he hadn't died

Today is the 3 year anniversary of me actually joining the RWBY fandom
Tumblr media
So because Iā€™m sentimental and love to torture myself, I thought itā€™d be a great idea to try and draw 100 RWBY characters
I already have 14 downā€¦ and 86 to go
why am i doing this
But I wanna give a shoutout to Whiterose for managing to grab me in a chokehold and drag me down to the ā€˜you are definitely going to be thinking about this ship for a LONG timeā€™ station and sending me off
They are just really special to me and I love them with all of my heartā€”along with all the other 300+ ships I have for various fandoms
Also another shoutout to Face My Fears for being the very first WR (and RWBY) fanfic I read
Managed to read it within two days during my sophomore year and I actually cried
Anyways hereā€™s to more chaos!

hi ian i come bearing angst fuel for the yuusha as twsted elsa (maybe an idea for her possible overblot idk she kinda reads to me as someone whod preemptively isolate in the case she feels...blotty)
(also seeing that art of her playing violin totally didnt fuck me up im still nursing my bruised heart šŸ„“šŸ„“šŸ’•šŸ’•)
https://youtu.be/NDldNaEZTt8?si=Wm71pgTltuJLjFvk
^^this is from the frozen musical where they gave a song to elsa to explore her emotional turmoil and it just fleshed out her character so much more than the orig movie (ok i havent seen frozen 2 oops) but just this section here:
Is everyone in danger as long as I'm alive?
Was I a monster from the start?
How did I end up with this frozen heart?
Bringing destruction to the stage
Caught in a war that I was never meant to wage
anyways lmao i jus think the song is neat i think yuushas neat (i wanna see more of her ahehehe i love seeing infodumps abt ur yuus)
-diodellet
(throwback to this ā€œwhat if yuu had magicā€ ask where i had a āœØrealizationāœØ and this more recent yuusha lore drop that i gave zero elaboration on šŸ™ƒ)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
very rough ob yuu design??? idk i came up with it on the spot ;;; and itā€™s kinda based on disneyā€™s concept art of elsa when she was supposed to be the villain.
evil ice queen vibes :3
also i know the ob monster is supposed to be based on the villainā€” which is elsa in this caseā€” but lowkey. an ice monster is way cooler.
also also i just realized after i drew this i couldve done a grim/yuu tandem overblot ough šŸ¤§šŸ¤§ (next time I'll do that instead if i ever go back to this concept)
(read more below because it got SO long)
Tumblr media
AAH anyways hi hi dio!!! when i saw your ask i went ā€”
Tumblr media
ā€” with this entire post
AAGH HOW MANY MORE UNINTENTIONAL CONNECTIONS ARE GOING TO BE BETWEEN FROZEN AND YUUSHA
i guess watching the movie everyday when it came out when youā€™re like 9 does something to your brain chemistry (and still haunts you at least a decade later) šŸ’€
but anyways the angst ;;; overblot yuu ;;;;; my brain is rotting and the worms have taken over
also i didnā€™t even know that there was a frozen broadway musical so im gonna have to check it out later šŸƒšŸ’ØšŸ’ØšŸ’Ø
(also dont worry frozen 2 is a nice watch for the most part but the way they concluded the characters did not feel 100% satisfying to me šŸ˜ BUT i love some of the songs tho ;;; kristoffā€™s goofy 80s ballad song is one of them specifically, i need everyone to listen to it)
hfgnnfhfgv anyways thank you so much iā€™m chugging that angst fuel as i expand more on a possible ob yuusha with another infodump šŸ’ŖšŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ
Tumblr media
āš ļøāš ļøāš ļø ALSO IM SORRY BUT mentions of taking oneā€™s own life so please proceed with caution āš ļøāš ļøāš ļø
i had to reread what my initial thoughts about it bc it was months ago??? and after rereading im just like, huh what was i onā€” (just that feeling when you just cringe at your old posts ;; but idk i think the insanity/cringe sometimes can loop back into being a genius and the cycle just continues)
anyways iā€™ve been on and off writing yuushaā€™s bio and overblot yuu was just at the back of my mind chilling but i didnā€™t really do anything with it.
but now that i have the opportunity,,,, im gonna go on the magicless route this time bc i feel like I've said all what i thought if it was an overblot due to her own magic.
so uh from what i gather overblots are a mix of overuse of magic + intense negative emotion.
since itā€™s magicless yuu, i guess the one of the general headcanons around the fandom is that theyā€™ve been too exposed to overblots and then intense negative emotions suddenly just triggered their overblot.
uh anyways onto the elsa parts
Is everyone in danger as long as I'm alive? Was I a monster from the start? How did I end up with this frozen heart? Bringing destruction to the stage Caught in a war that I was never meant to wage
THE LYRICS ARE SO GOOD ;;; i really love how some broadway interpretations expand on the source material
and yeah you're right šŸ¤§šŸ¤§šŸ¤§ā€” yuusha would try to hide and escape, especially as she overblots bc she would try to avoid hurting people (and like elsa, it'd only hurt others more trying to escape bc of probably how she leaves destruction in her wake trying to make others stay away from her šŸ˜”)
(this is a small tangent but i remember thinking about an overblot kalim and i imagine him to be similar, like he would not hurt anyone intentionally in his overblot.)
anyways so the way it would go is that i imagine her friends got fatally injured either because a) she feels that sheā€™s too ā€œuselessā€ without magic to help and wasnā€™t able to do anything OR b) her attempts at helping to try and prove that she can help without magic made everything worse.
and then she just goes into a guilty spiral then boom ā€” overblot.
ALSO in the song, the way elsa briefly contemplated taking her own life but then realizing thereā€™s no guarantee that would solve anything hnghgh (<- another unintentional parallel to my yuusha lore because thatā€™s actually how she ended up in twst except she did NOT have the latter realization)
thereā€™s this ā€œyuu is deadā€ theory iā€™m just using and that the black carriage actually just caught yuushaā€™s soul after she took her own life from all the burden.
Tumblr media
also some bonus angst context for that violin post :3
yuusha back in her homeworld is raised and known to be a gifted musician. people can feel the life and soul in her music but when people interact with her, they are usually met with an ice-cold (heh) personality.
the dead family member was the one who taught her music and the only one who was kind to her.
thereā€™s always an expectation from her family to perform well and to keep up appearances as to not be a humiliation since anything she does can reflect on her entire family. (also hi, slight yuusha/jamil parallels maybe???)
the way she presents herself also stemmed from an incident as a child when she went apeshit on another kid bc she was defending a friend.
so from then on she was taught taught to conceal donā€™t feel those emotions ā€” which just unfortunately extended to any positive ones, not just negative ones like rage.
so when she is brought to twst, thereā€™s no memory of her being forced to hold back her emotions so sheā€™s just unapologetically affectionate and open with everyone bc thatā€™s how she really is.
but every now and then, memories of her breaking down haunt her in her dreams or as subtle reminders in the waking world.
then yuusha just goes on her day like she just wasn't reminded of her past.
(unnecessarily tragic lore my beloved, but anywayā€”)
another extremely brief tangent and bonus -> the two songs i had on loop while drawing pre-twst yuusha
lindsey stirling my beloved i love her music
the songs are such a vibe
her instrumentals in ā€œlose you nowā€ especially makes me feel some sort of way šŸ˜–

PLEASE expand on your thoughts for muppets abc i would love to hear them /nf /gen /pos
Okay for some reason I didnā€™t get notified for this ask so sorry itā€™s a bit late!
But YES thx for the opportunity to rant ab this show
Pros
I actually am a big fan of muppets abc. Iā€™ll get into the cons later but I like the style of humor the show has (for the most part), I like when the muppets have more of an adult spin where itā€™s not like family guy humor but itā€™s a little more mature than most muppet projects. The modern muppets have been so heavily targeted toward children in many projects that itā€™s nice to see them recognize that a lot of modern muppets fans are adults (not that adults canā€™t like childrenā€™s humor, I for sure do, but yā€™know).
Also I really like a lot of the people they chose as guests for the show, and I honestly like the sitcom style following the muppets backstage of a show. I think itā€™s a good modernization of the original muppet show premise that allows it to focus less on skits and more on characters. Also normally I despise social media plot lines but I actually like the way this show handles pulling the muppets into the digital age, which is crucial for such a timeless property.
Also, as many problems as there are for muppets fans, itā€™s a really good show to watch with people who casually enjoy the muppets. This showā€™s style is more to the taste of some of my family members so I like watching it with them. And separate from the muppetā€™s characterizations the comedy is really good (but thatā€™s subjective so I can see how it rubs some people the wrong way).
Cons
For one the cliffhanger ending kills me. Even if this show was weirdly received it had a really short run, they couldā€™ve used a few more episodes or another season so we didnā€™t get left on such an annoying cliffhanger (that left Kermit and piggy still officially broken up since the show didnā€™t continue long enough for them to get back together).
Ok let me get into characters now, because thatā€™s a criticism that I think is 100% valid (though I also think few people other than jerry juhl have properly understood the muppets and not flanderized their characters in some way)(but yeah itā€™s really bad here).
Scooter!!
How theyā€™ve massacred my boy!
Weā€™ll get to piggy but scooter is the one Iā€™m most upset about. Why? Why change him from nepo baby humor to haha nerd comedy?? It was 2015 man we love making fun of nepo babies and rich people nowadays why would they change the character whose gimmick gets funnier with age?
His characterization feels pulled from the Big Bang theory. All his comedy is just ā€œvirgin nerdā€ comedy. I love that the show tried giving him more screen time than other projects but they fumbled the bag. He was a spoiled teenager who was wild and fun and could get away with anything because his uncle was rich. I get heā€™s older now but I refuse to think aging did this to him.
Because Iā€™m a nerd Iā€™m gonna pull some quotes about scooter from the new Richard hunt biography bc that man understood his characters.
ā€œLike Hunt, Scooter is a born performer. Scooter also resembles Hunt in his amiable disposition and his almost nonchalant acceptance of the other characters and their quirks.ā€
ā€œThis acceptance stems from his own quiet confidence in himselfā€¦ happily amusing himself and the people around him.ā€
ā€œā€˜Scooter is a perpetual kid and very comfortable with who he is,ā€™ said Hunt.ā€
HMMMM? CONFIDENCE? A PERFORMER? COMFORTABLE WITH WHO HE IS?
abc scooter just gives off such anxious vibes it really makes him feel like heā€™s lost the part of himself that made him so much like Richard Hunt.
Piggy
Ughhh sheā€™s just not fun to watch for the most part in this show. I like the idea of her being the star of the show this time around, reminds me of her unexpected rise to fan-favorite muppet soon after Oz took over her character.
I also really like her friendship with deadly. I think miss piggy so often is boiled down to her love for Kermit that I really love the idea of having her explore platonic bonds. Her looking so hard for happiness in romantic relationships but eventually realizing that deadly is the one whoā€™s been by her side, that heā€™s her friend and that she really loves him for sticking by her is a really sweet arc (for both of them. Love platonic piggy relationships and I like the modern fashion designer vibe theyā€™ve been doing with deadly, I think itā€™s a fun reimagining of his original character).
But her diva meter really is pushed up to eleven.
Not to pull more from the Richard hunt bio, but Oz describes piggy as ā€œThe tough woman underneath the coyness. And the fact that she had to be coy to get things the way she wanted them, like most women at that time.ā€
Piggy is from humble beginnings and understands how she needs to act to get people to feel a certain way about her. She also wonā€™t take shit from anybody, though. She knows her worth and knows sheā€™s worked hard to get here, but it also was such an uphill battle to stardom for her I just refuse to believe she would become so selfish and act so privileged the way she does in the show.
ABC piggy doesnā€™t feel like a girl who tries to be coy but knows to be tough when she needs to be. ABC piggy is mean. She has a thin temper and everyone is scared of her and sheā€™s so removed from the non-famous life that she has trouble bonding with people. She only does community service for publicity and can barely manage to do any manual labor. Sheā€™s not tough. Sheā€™s angry. Sheā€™s short-tempered and violent. And she has no trace of her humble roots, that gratefulness for the position of fame sheā€™s in that she holds in so many other roles.
Others
Sam is pretty creepy. I love his gag of being the censorship for the show, him popping up saying ā€œcanā€™t say thatā€ is a nice little nod to him trying to control the chaos of the original show and his little conservative speech sketches. His crush on Janice is kinda odd tho. I like him getting more modern spotlight, I really like his character in most wanted (though a rewatch of that is needed havenā€™t seen it in a while). But yeah heā€™s kinda weird here.
Also why were gonzo and Camilla broken up. Disagree. Idc about your relationship drama theyā€™re the muppets otp.
Uhh trying to think off the top of my head, itā€™s been a few months since my rewatch of the show. I donā€™t like the mayhem fight. I think teeth and Floyd fighting over Janice is weird and off for them in modern day. Respect Janice rejecting labels, go off Queen.
Conclusion/TLDR
I had more to say than I realized but I donā€™t want to make too long of a post. Tldr, I really like the show and itā€™s humor but it does feel divorced from ā€œthe muppetsā€ as a pre-established franchise and characters. The characterization is bad, even though I appreciate them trying to give more screen time to some lesser used characters, it didnā€™t really work. I just think it had a lot of potential, and I like the idea of a more adult but still family oriented muppet show, but the execution was really hit or miss.
Refer to my previous post about it for more condensed thoughts, weird show all around lol
Also stan abc Big Mean Carl. Stole the show, 10/10

do u have a reccomendation for what form of shorthand to learn first. deeply interested-- i saw ur reply on that one post and then u seem cool so i just followed u and figured i would ask here
hello !!! thank you for asking !!!!!!!!!! and im so sorry this is so long lol
If you want my biased personal recommendation, I would suggest Pitman New Era. That's what I use, and I think its the best balance of efficiency vs difficulty to learn, and I like that the learning curve is such that, as you learn, you apply more rules that simplify the writing process more (meaning that earlier practice is still legible, if far less efficient). This compared to other forms (like Gregg) where, as you learn, youre just kind of generally suffering and trying to get your brain to memorise things and differentiate very similar looking strokes. I find Pitman also lends itself well to using in conjunction with other "standard" writing styles so you can take notes that are enough in "standard" writing to be skimmable while using enough shorthand to be much faster to write, basically maninmising writeing AND reading speed. [example below]
Tumblr media
You can skip to the end for resources for Pitman and shorthand in general if this answer is sufficient :)
If you want a horrifically long, massively autistic answer that breaks down the three most popular/common styles, then thats what the rest of the post is !! It is so fucking long I am so sorry
Horrifically Long Answer:
I'm answering on the assumption that you would be learning for use with english. If you want to learn shorthand for another language there are a variety of options however I am less versed in them :( I'm also assuming you're asking out of personal interest rather than vocational, since certain jobs will recommend or require you learn certain styles of shorthand and it would be best to defer to that.
The most popular methods are Gregg, the various forms of Pitman (this is what I use), and Teeline. Gregg and Pitman are phonemic while Teeline is alphabetical. There are also a huge number of other, less popular forms of shorthand (as well as shorthand systems which are popular in/made for other languages). If you're interested in learning about these, check out the subreddit listed at the end of this post under "resources".
Teeline:
I know much less about Teeline, so I'll go into it less, but basically it is a "spelling-based" shorthand system -- that is, it is based off the standard spelling of words. It replaces latin letters which different forms that are faster to write and can be connected more efficiently, while removing extraneous letters from words. It is simpler to learn, in part because it is spelling-based, and also because it has fewer rules which further consolidate and shorten word forms. Due to this, it is ultimately much slower to write than the other two systems mentioned here (although you can still get up to good speeds !!). Like the other shorthand systems, you can learn to a more basic extent, or learn more advanced theory to maximise its capability and speed. Teeline is very standard for journalism and overall quite popular for professional use, however it is still in copyright and so there are far fewer resources available online. If you are interested in taking classes, however, I would assume those are available.
Teeline TL;DR: alphabetical, simplest to learn but less efficient, popular, still in copyright so fewer resources.

Pitman and Gregg: Phonemic Systems and Regional Accents:
As mentioned, Gregg and Pitman are phonemic. If you dont have any practice with phonemic writing systems, you might have luck starting out with shavian just to practice. also because shavian is fun :) (its one of the writing systems in my header !) Im saying this partly because I want more people to learn shavian and partly because I learned Shavian long before I learned Pitman and found that having that practice was helpful. In particular, if you have any accent other than RP, its helpful for figuring out either which vowel sounds and phonetic spellings are relevant to your accent and your pronunciation, or, should you choose to go a "standard" (RP) route, how certain words should be spelled despite how you may pronounce them. Using a "standard" RP approach can be helpful if you want people to more easily be able to read your writing or want to "match" the dictionary, but someone well versed in shorthand should be able to figure it out no matter what, and if its just for your personal use I'd suggest just going by your own regional pronunciations.
Pitman:
Pitman was an early shorthand system developed in the early to mid 1800s. It used to be the most popular shorthand system, however nowadays has been eclipsed in popularity by Teeline and/or Gregg, depending on the country and occupational context. However, it remains popular among enthusiasts and there are significant amount of resources available for learners and practitioners.
The main thing to know with Pitman is that words are built using different strokes for each consonant sound, and symbols attached to these consonants to mark vowels. These consonant sounds are differentiated by shape as well as line thickness. Voiced and unvoiced pairs of consonants (eg., T and D, C and G, S and Z, etc.) are designated using the same strokes, with the voiced consonant of the pair being thicker than the other. This line variation is something which is normally achieved with a pencil, though I mostly use fountain pens to write and so I use flex nibs to achieve the same effect.
Vowels are marked with certain dots or dashes placed along corresponding consonant markings, For increased writing speed, most vowel markings can also be left off in Pitman, and instead where on the line the first stroke begins serves to signal the first vowel.
Pitman uses short forms (also called "logograms" or "grammalogues," depending on the version and book you use) which are abbreviated forms of commonly used words (see picture below for a few examples). Different versions of Pitman have different numbers of grammalogues.
With Pitman, efficiency is increased through a combination of memorising various short forms and implementing rules which simplify strokes. (Examples of these can be seen in the picture below. probably need to click to be able to actually see anything rip) This allows you to have certain "levels" of complexity, where as you learn more complex rules you increase in efficiency, but you can also eschew some of those rules if they are too complex for you without sacrificing legibility to you or proficient practitioners. Probably someone somewhere on reddit has something to say about that but tbh who gives a fuck. You can do whatever you want forever. Its known to be very common for people to come up with their own personal shortcuts and variations in whatever shorthand system they use, and imo sometimes that just means looking at a rule and going "well thats stupidšŸ‘" and ignoring it. Pitman can seem really intimidating, however just remember that you can ignore rules for as long as you want until they are less intimidating to learn and apply.
There are 3 "main" versions of Pitman: the original system, Pitman New Era, and Pitman 2000. New Era has the most complex system of rules and abbreviations, while 2000 simplified many of these and got rid of most of the abbreviations. I personally use New Era, in part because I was able to access more resources for this, but largely because I found the increased number of rules and abbreviations to be better in the long run. If you are willing to invest more time and effort into learning a more complicated system, with the tradeoff that it will be faster and easier once you are proficient, you should learn New Era. The main benefit of 2000 is that the rules are simplified. I would say, however, that the downsizing of the list of abbreviations is not a benefit. While it in theory requires you to memorise more individual symbols, in practice these abbreviations are commonly used enough that they can become automatic with very little practice. If you decide to learn 2000, I would suggest taking he time to go through the list of abbreviations from New Era and, if not learning all of them, picking out the ones you think you are likely to use with semi-regularity. If you compile them into a cheat sheet and hand it next to your desk, they should be easy to practice using and become memorised really quickly. I myself dont have every abbreviation memorised, but instead focused on ones i use regularly, and often go through the list again to pick out new ones to learn and add to my lexicon as I think they may be used.
Pitman TL;DR: phonemic, differentiates strokes through line thickness, rules can be applied or discarded as best suits your practice without sacrificing readability. Increased speed and efficiency is achieved through extra short forms for commonly used words, and rules which simplify strokes.

Gregg:
Gregg is a very popular form of shorthand which utilises round, smooth strokes with the intent of increasing writing efficiency and legibility.
Where Pitman uses variation in line thickness to differentiate between strokes, Gregg uses line length. Both consonants and vowels are marked with designated strokes (compared to Teeline, which has vowel strokes but tends to omit them where possible, and Pitman, which adds vowel marking to consonant strokes or signals vowels through figure placement), and vowels are largely kept in-line. With Gregg, efficiency is achieved through the use of short forms, prefixes, and suffixes; "phrasing", (wherein certain phrases, such as "I may be," "one of the most," "by the," etc. are combined into a single stroke); as well as through the more efficient way in which strokes are joined together into words.
Left-handed people sometimes write Gregg from right to left.
Like Pitman, there are a number of different versions of Gregg, however Gregg seems to have significantly more versions and significantly less consensus around which version is best or why. I am not the best person to give advice on which one is best or information on the different types, so if you decide to go with Gregg I'd suggest checking out the subreddit or some of the other resources linked below for information on that.

Comparisons:
I would say that one of the main things to consider if choosing between Gregg and Pitman is which you think is more intuitive to read and write for you. Which sounds obvious lol but like. as an example. I struggle with spatial awareness and stuff like estimating lengths so for me Gregg is not a good option since it differentiates certain consonants through their length and I would have a hard time writing those consistently or easily reading them. Pitman is easier for me in that regard, as well as since it is more "choppy" (for lack of better word) which makes it much easier for me to recognise certain words without having to break them down, as well as making it easier for me to break them down to read them should I need to. On the other hand, some people find Gregg to be easier since its much "smoother" and flowier to write, which can be much faster and more intuitive for some.
Compared to Pitman, Gregg has significantly fewer rules to learn, making it in theory simpler, however, due to the way it is written, it requires significantly more practice to be able to consistently properly write and tell apart certain letters, words, and phrases. Once you are proficient in this, it is by far more efficient, however Gregg is very difficult to use while you are still figuring it out. Pitman, on the other hand, has significantly more rules, however you can continue to easily use it as you learn these rules and add them into your practice. The downside of this is that once you are fully proficient, it is less efficient than full proficiency Gregg. Essentially, the main difficulty with learning Gregg is telling apart different strokes and writing them so that they can be differentiated, while the main difficulty with Pitman is in learning the rules.
I havent talked much about Teeline because honestly I know far less about it, because it is so much harder to find resources on, and honestly because I'm a bit of an old man and personally prefer the older styles lol. Its popular for a reason, though !
I know it probably sounds like I'm shilling a lot for Pitman, however thats just because its what I use and know the most about, as well as because it is what works best for my unique considerations. Most people would probably be more likely to recommend Gregg (for a number of very good reasons !), however when I was first deciding which shorthand system to learn I saw very few people making the points that were most relevant to me (eg, that pitman can be used AS you learn, whereas Gregg is more of a "its useless until you actually have it down" situation, that Gregg is really difficult if you struggle with differentiating lengths, etc) so I feel the need to mention them
TL;DR: Everything:
Ultimately you should use whatever you think is best for you :) I'd say Teeline is your best bet if you are in journalism, or want something easier. Gregg is best if you want something popular, smoother to write, and extremely fast, and are willing and able to put in significant amounts of consistent work and practice to master it. Pitman is best if you want something you can use as you learn, and that's somewhere in between Teeline and Gregg in terms of difficulty and efficiency. If you wanted, you could probably learn Teeline as well as either Pitman or Gregg, but learning both Pitman and Gregg would be much more difficult.
Other:
I take all my notes by hand, generally using a mix of palmer method cursive and pitman shorthand to do so, however, I also have to write a lot of papers, and when I do, I get frustrated at having to type out whole words I normally write in shorthand. This is kind of the curse of shorthand, you get really annoyed having to type out "because". To deal with this, while typing in a word processor, I use an alphabetic shorthand I've come up with over time. I basically input a bunch of auto-replacements into my spellcheck, so that I can have shortcuts for commonly used words set up. so basically i can write: "here, . cnstrctn ` ntnl idntty served to lgtmse the ntn stte" and it will autocorrect to "here, the construction of national identity served to legitimise the nation state". Highly recommend this if you do a lot of writing, especially if a lot of the same topics and words come up a lot. Use whatever shortened versions feel intuitive for you, instead of something you've consciously + intentionally constructed, otherwise youre more likely to forget them or have them get mixed up.
Resources:
stenophile.com has a huge number of shorthand resources linked, particularly for Gregg and Pitman. If you end up choosing either of these I'd suggest starting here to find instruction books.
this website can transliterate into Pitman and Gregg, DEK and Stolze-Schrey (two German shorthand systems), and SĆ¼tterlinschrift (a historical German script)(also in my header !)
r/fastwriting is run by a very nice very dedicated man who posts a huge amount of content and resources on various shorthand methods, including lesser known ones. If you decide you want to learn/learn about a different shorthand system, he's the guy to talk to. This subreddit differs from r/shorthand or system-specific subreddits like r/greggshorthand, as those are more discussion-based for learners and practitioners, while r/fastwriting is better for research and being autistic. R/shorthand does have a number of resources listed for more popular shorthand systems, and is a good place to go for advice while learning.
Teeline:
blog with a few free resources
Pitman:
Pitman New Era Instructor and Dictionary. These are what I largely used to learn.
Long Live Pitman's: a website dedicated to Pitman, full of good information for beginning learners.
if you learn Pitman, as mentioned the line variation can be accomplished with a pencil, however if you want to get a bit fancy with it while staying on a budget, Fountain Pen Revolution carries a number of cheap yet reliable fountain pens with flex nibs, such as the FPR Indus or Himalaya. I'd suggest the steel flex rather than the ultra-flex for shorthand unless you have a lighter hand or have practiced with a flex pen before. I've also heard good things about the Noodler's Ahab pen but honestly find its very temperamental, needs tweaking (not ideal if youre a fp beginner) and just not as good. Both FPR and Noodler's pens are made of bioresin and must be kept away from solvents like isopropyl alcohol !!!
Gregg:
Gregg Phrasebook. Short guide to phraseology for Gregg
Gregg-shorthand.com: seems like a good place to start for learning Gregg. Answers some beginner's questions, and provides learning aids and reading material (transliterated into Gregg)
r/greggshorthand
greggshorthand.gibhub.io: a more in depth website with a number of book pdfs and lessons for various forms of Gregg.

not a hurricane endurer, but a western U.S. wildfire one, and can agree on the 'we left for nothing' vs. people thinking they're omniscient for staying thing. whether or not anything in your direct area is harmed, preemptive safety should still be the first priority!!! I'm so glad your home was okay, and will hope with you that more people can learn to stfu and just be grateful before they start whining about having to pack up and drive to somewhere with more guaranteed safety, which is always a good thing!!
yes exactly!!! like itā€™s so bad in my area, especially those who have lived here their whole lives. like i understand living in a place long enough to experience multiple events and become knowledgeable of how to prepare and when to leave or stay, but sometimes itā€™s just unbelievable how far that knowledge swings into ignorance. ESPECIALLY in this day and age where unprecedented natural disasters are continuously occurring. iā€™ve already seen on my local cityā€™s subreddit all kinds of shit about those who left vs staying and itā€™s like- do you not understand that in the neighboring county, their emergency management put out a statement that they did not have enough emergency workers to respond to the number of calls they were getting about people stranded? or the county stating that anyone who stayed needed to write their name and address in permanent marker on their body? how horrifying is it to joke about ā€œleaving for nothingā€ when your neighbors have just lost everything. like sit the fuck down and be humbled.
btw iā€™m not talking about people who absolutely cannot evacuate, i understand that there IS privilege in getting to leave (be it having the car and funds to do so, not having pets that rely on you, being able-bodied enough to pack things up and drive however many hours to safety, etc) but thatā€™s why itā€™s so imperative we advocate for free public evacuation aid. itā€™s easy to say ā€œyour life depends on it, just make it work!ā€ but itā€™s another to actually provide resources. like my county has evacuation aid in place (theyā€™ll drive people to the closest storm shelter) and while it may not be the whole solution, it IS a step in the right direction.

This was something I was talking with da friendsā„¢ļø on discord, but it's something I kinda want to post here to.
I have always had issues with most Sarah J. Maas protagonists. Aelin post HoF and especially after EoS was insufferable for me; I grew disappointed in Feyre post ACOMAF, in part because how centered Rhysand is in her narrative. Which... Has only grown worse with ACOSF and HOFAS. Feyre deserves better.
Mind, my problem in part comes from the framing of the narrative and the ridiculous amount of protagonist centered morality present.
Bryce is one of the most egregious cases. All through the book, I'm supposed to think she's smart, brilliant, a force who can do everything ā€” a party girl, but more. The thing is... it doesn't land. She comes off a spoiled, petty, arrogant brat who is entitled and rude to everyone, yet still somehow would be a great Queen. Are you for real?
It's so cringe. She doesn't read like a mature adult, but rather a rebellious teen with a bone to pick with the entire world. Her character development is a MESS. Oh, so now that the Asteri are revealed to be parasites and leeching off everyone... you care? They must be taken down now that it concerns her?
I have no problem with nominal heroes, morally grey characters and villain protagonists when they're portrayed by such. Bryce is, however, touted as a hero and savior of all, including the Humans who... are there, I suppose. You forget Bryce is demifae because it matters SHIT to her character.
And the thing is that Sarah's handling of her protagonist has only gotten worse through time. The books are less tightly edited now than they were before, so it's bound to get more noticeable with thr MCs. The side characters are given more room to breath and are, therefore, more complex and hell, consistent. As a certain book hoarder astrological friend said, the plot armor is less impervious.
Take Tharion, for instance. Yes, I know plenty dislike him, but his character is surprisingly consistent and his progression makes sense. His flaws keep returning to bite him in the ass and that's nice. Nesta too: the fact that she didn't start off as a protagonist has made her so much more interesting to me, and I fear what's to come.
