Yeees when I read this anon ask, I was wondering if they are living somewhere where pale person are oppressed and they are personally in this case and it affects them so badly that they have so much hate in them or they are just being hateful toward poc w/o any explication ? It was a bit uncomfortable And what is appealing with Genshin Impact (for me) is the fact that they use real culture to create their game ; even in the last survey, they ask if we like Natlan's authenticity (weird they only ask abt environment and music, i think they know they have issue with character design bahaha). I learn a lot about persian, algerian, but also chinese and even about french culture ! It is because people recognize themself that they start talking about it. I know there is a lot of controversial topic in Natlan, but because of this, I learn a lot on Hawai'i 's culture too. So yes, even if it is fiction, representation *is* important. And it is because they take inspiration of their culture that there is people who want a better representation, and in my opinion, this is something to not ignore !

If i can be honest tho, I didn't take it very well neither, or just I don't know how do I really felt at the moment I am an adult but I still hard time to distinguish what is morally okay or not, what is bad and good ? If i can be honest, I draw Kinich this way because when I draw him w a darker skin for the first time, I thought "Oh !!! he looks so cool !!!!" and seeing a lot of positive comment abt my Kinich just makes me happy so I keep him like this ! He scoffs and shakes his head. “No. Immediately no.”

You roll your eyes, “Buzzkill.” You set that one back and scan through the other costumes, trying to figure out which one he’d be more willing to agree on. Deciding on another you show it to him, “What about this one?”

His eyebrows draw together as he looks at the Scarecrow costume. “If I passed on Beetlejuice, what the hell makes you think I’d say yes to this shit?”

“You’re no fun, Sam.”

“I’m plenty of fun, babe. You’re just picking out garbage.” He says before perusing a couple other selections. “Aha! Now this is a costume!” He proudly shows you the Skeleboner costume.

You give him an unamused look and shake your head. “Veto.”

It’s Sam’s turn to roll his eyes. “Oh come on. Why not? It’s funny.”

“Yeah it is but I wanna be cute and match.” You practically pout.

Sam huffs, looking at you for a moment. “Fine,” he mumbles defeatedly, “Pick out what you want.”

Your frown slowly curls up into a smile, “What? Really?”

He lets out a long sigh and nods once, waving his hand, “Yeah. Hurry up before I change my mind.”

You grin happily at him and scour the costumes for the right one. You needed to make it count. Finally you land on it. The perfect one. “Here. Better saddle up.” You toss him the package.

Sam catches it and groans loudly seeing the Woody picture on the front. “Are you serious right now?”

“Hey you said I could pick out what I wanted.”

since you seem to know a lot of history, I was wondering if you could tell us a little more about norway and his role during ww2, I feel like not a lot of people talk about his importance as an ally.

Let's pretend this wasn't sent back in November! Of course I can!!And "a little" turned into a decent amount 😳

Norway declared itself neutral when the war started in 1939, but became occupied by Germany in April 1940. Throughout the war Norway played an important role helping the allies win. Note that there is also a lot to be said about Norwegian collaboration with the occupiers during these years as well, but that is not the topic of this post.

During the war Norway had both a military and a civil resistance movement. The civil movement was directed towards NS (Nasjonal Samling, the Norwegian nazi party and the only party allowed during these years) attempts at converting people to nazism, while the military resistance were building an underground army who were prepared to step in for the liberation and who also organized sabotages during the last year.

Norway’s government went into exile in London, and was in large responsible for Norway’s war effort and resistance. They took control of the Norwegian merchant ships and put it at the allies disposal, probably Norway’s most important asset and contribution to the war effort. The Norwegian marine and air-force also partook in operations along the Allies, and a Norwegian brigade was organized in Scotland, who were to partake in the final liberation of Norway.

The exiled government had an extensive running contact with the growing resistance back home in Norway, and could gradually provide the resistance with supplies and other support. Soldiers from the Scottish base were sent on missions to aid the resistance in Norway and conduct sabotages.

There as also a base for Norwegian resistance established in Stockholm, who were eventually allowed by the Swedish government to form a military force of 14 500 people under disguise of being police. About 50 000 Norwegians fled to Sweden during the war, and many Norwegians in the border areas aided them as guides over the mountains through difficult and secret passages – they also smuggled goods and supplies through the same routes.

The civil resistance was not exclusively organized, but included everyone who was not a nazi and could be as simple as civil disobedience. Teachers, parents, and priests opposed the effort to convert the youth to nazism by the NS through forced nazi curriculums in schools and obligatory youth service. Other examples of civil resistance were Norwegian workers sabotaging or not even doing the bare minimum at the jobs in factories for the Germans, and the publishing of illegal news-papers which were spread by people handing them to the next person. The most famous illegal news-paper was London-Nytt (London News), and were just Norwegian translations of BBC broadcasts transcribed directly from illegal radios.

The military resistance was known as MILORG, and this secret group had its peak in the last year of the war. This was when they began receiving guns, military equipment and professionals. During the last year they carried out assassinations and sabotages to a much more effective and extensive degree. MILORG was taking orders from the Norwegian military in London and coordinating with them, passing vital information back and forth.

When the Second World War began, Norway was the world’s fourth largest shipping nation, after Great Britain, USA, and Japan, with the Norwegian fleet being the most modern. When Norway was occupied and the Germans demanded Norwegian ships return to Norwegian ports, all of the around 1 000 ships set sail for Allied ports. The Norwegian government in exile commanded all Norwegian ships sail for securing supplies for Norway and the Allies. The ships supplied Great Britain with invaluable wares such as food and oil, and kept up the transatlantic trade during the war. The Norwegian sailors were also present at evacuations and invasions of occupied France and fascist Italy, North-Africa, and Normandy in 1944. The Norwegian ships were under constant attack from the German fleet and many sailors lost their lives transporting for the Allies, most of them working continuously for the five years Norway was at war. Almost half of Norway’s fallen during the war were sailors killed at sea.

Oh my goodness, thank you, that means so much! 😭 I've mentioned this before briefly, but I'm definitely not done drawing Arcane stuff whatsoever, I have so many ideas for drawings too, it's crazy!

Blacklistable tag update: in the next few days I will probably put up one or two original posts related to BG3, one of which will be art (assuming I finish my shit at a reasonable time). you absolutely already know this, but i adore your work. i think it's hard to avoid the pressure of being surrounded by people we might consider "true artists," but the fact is that, frankly, everyone who makes art is an artist.

before this year, i hadn't drawn a complete piece in nearly three years. the line work i did produce felt abysmal and i was tempted to give up. then, i saw your comic and i thought, "wow, that's really cute, and it looks like a fun style to emulate."

i drew you, pondering me, eating grass. and it WAS fun. i forgot how fun it could be. i can draw lesbian horses, or pony!WWX throwing a chicken, or me eating grass. i can even make shitty memes! and all of it, no matter how good or how bad, is fun again.

you bring a lot of fun to people here. that's something equally as important as people who cultivate fancy line work or expert level digital painting. i'm sure that's something you know, but i hope it never hurts to hear it.

happy first season, friend! i can't wait to see the rest.

As a chronic perfectionist, it's been a long journey for me to accept that 'done is better than nothing' and that the worst critical voice is my own. Sure there's people who've gone to professional art schools, and those with a more than a decade of experience on me, but honestly? Would I tell a child their sonic drawing isn't art? Just because they have no 'experience' or 'technique'? Absolutely not. So I'm no longer saying my efforts should not count as art.

At the end of the day, art is what we choose to make it. We have the power to create whatever we want. And we are going to use it to have fun! We never lost the love and fun for creation we all had as children, we just told ourselves it wasn't enough. But it really is B*)

im sorry for the late reply, but sometimes when i get asked this kind of questions my mind draws a complete blank and i forget everything i’ve ever watched, so i had to take a couple of days to think about it ;;;;;; i also wasn’t sure if you meant plot tropes in BLs specifically or more in general, but since you said ‘movie’ i tried to take into consideration tropes that can be found in different genres

honestly i think most of the tropes i tend to not be very fond of are all the ones that feel like a sort of cop-out? for example when it comes to romance i don’t really like 'love at first sight', because more often than not it’s used almost as an excuse to make two characters be together without taking the responsibility to show to your viewers why exactly these characters even like each other. it's the same reason im endlessly annoyed with the 'accidental eavesdropping' and 'dead cellphone' tropes: they're all cheap convenient ways for authors to make the narrative work like they want to without putting any real effort into it. worst trope of this kind i can think of is the 'it was all just a dream' ending, which i dislike with a passion because it usually comes with a lack of consequences and resolutions that enrages me deeply

but to answer to your other question, there is a movie that actually made feel satisfied with the 'it was all just a dream' ending, which is jacob's ladder (the original one from 1990, not the remake from 2019). it's a great, disturbing psychological horror movie and i now realize im..kinda ruining it for you because that's the entire twist but. yeah ;;;;;; that kind of ending made perfect sense for once

I intend to draw a lot more ShuMika if I can honestly. They used to be my “OTP” and I was obsessed with Valkyrie for ages. I’ve really really really been missing them recently to the point of vibrating excitement. Homestuck is a no brainer though I have been a DirkJake fan since like 2019.
