Emiya for the ask thingy
Hello, thank you for the ask fellow fate enjoyer, it means a lot to be able to speak about this guy!!!! Ooh I never usually get Emiya for an ask (it's very rare). I am not quite sure if this is specifically for Archer or Shirou, so I made one for each guy!
Shirou
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d27dbc95852987cce1d956d1774f2f83/aeb5703eda895fe1-fd/s540x810/a62c11597a302aa809ddd62d743ab48ee3d54162.jpg)
I used to really dislike this guy the very first time I watched Fate Stay/Night. I was like 'grumble grumble typical eroge protagonist' only then for Shirou to figuratively shut me up by episode 4 so that was good! His story and mindset drives me round the bend, especially the more posts I see on him being self-sacrificial and embodying other's dreams with his entire self as a result of him lacking a sense of self worth (and the story of his past and traumas are written so well tbh its heartbreaking)... he really gets me emotional and messed up inside.
I think it is because I project onto him and can relate to those particular aspects of him (which would maybe have others judging me for that). It can be easy to forget oneself in the pursuit of making others happy, but Shirou takes it up by another million cogs in his reality marble by deciding to make EVERYONE HAPPY!!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON, KIDDO?!!!
Shirou's not quite a war criminal, but jeez he is hardcore and quite disturbing at times (i will avoid how he loses his restraint and goes full battle mode in some smut scenes cuz that has me so confused sometimes). I think he is a brilliant protagonist who is both the guy who will willingly rip himself into swords for those who he loves, but won't hesitate to unleash the beast or be extremely unlikeable at times either. Character wise, I think he's an absolute gem!!!
ALSO HOW IS HE NOT ONLY SURVIVING SO MANY SITUATIONS BUT THEN THROWING HIMSELF INTO SO MANY MOREEEEEE
I do think he needs a lot of hugs and professional support. Like an endless amount of them. And a lot of professional support. But he is also a pretty great carer of others sometimes, and has great cooking chops, so I like him.
Archer
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/00c240d6801454332dc7fa31e4c440ac/aeb5703eda895fe1-0a/s540x810/9954b8002a64d45d1aeef1410d79b9e3faa48665.jpg)
Archer. I love this man so much LMAO but I am furthest from an expert of his character. ARCHER IS THE BEST (also he is definitely a war criminal). But damn, all of that suffering. Yeah, I cry a lot whenever the plot opens up and shows all of the stuff going on beneath his tough and snarky exterior. Also can the canon stop putting him in so many situations (and can he stop doing that to himself too)!!!!!! Also I love his warm hearted, parental figure aspects as well; he has taken Shirou's caring side and EXCELLED at it to an amazing degree (I would trust him with my fridge and entire kitchen).
I like him. But there is not much to say, other than a mix between 'this guy is so ironic that hes unreal' and 'fuck, i want to cry... please let him find his own brand of happiness'. Also can he be nicer to his inner child?
I project heavily onto Archer as well, so my opinions on this guy have a lot of bias. But whenever I write about him, I feel pure joy. Archer is a staple part of my personal enjoyment of the fate franchise.

Arc-V 7th Anniversary
Alright fellas here it is! It’s been 7 years since Yugioh Arc-V first graced our lives, and I thought I’d celebrate this by going over my personal Top 5 Duels in the series! This list is just my opinion, and you don’t have to agree/disagree or whatever, it’s just for fun. Let’s get to it!
#5: Yuya vs Barret, Synchro Arc
This duel is probably the one that no one expected to be on this list, but it’s actually a critical moment to Yuya’s growth as a character (I know some might have expected the 227 duel here but that one serves more towards narrative parallels and foreshadowing rather than actual character growth). This duel is here for one important reason: It’s the moment where Yuya truly let go of Yusho’s ideals. The Dimensional War had only began to get more chaotic as time passed, with Academia sending no shortage of goons after them, but this is the duel where Yuya is forced to choose: Yuzu’s (and his friends) life, or Smile World (the representation of his father’s ideals). Ultimately, Yuya does choose Yuzu, but this duel is also one of the most agonized we see Yuya after because Yuzu was still kidnapped anyways. To him, he threw away both of them by being forced to choose. However, it’s also what does encourage him to finally take that first step he needed, the buildup to the entire Synchro arc of finding his own words, and challenges Jack for their last rematch
#4: Tsukikage and Sora vs Obelisk Force, Synchro Arc
Ok THIS ONE is the one that no one actually expected, but I really do like it since it’s a good bit of character building for both Sora and Tsukikage (also I didn’t want this list to just be Yuya duels). Tsukikage was a surprising dark horse in Arc V because of how much he actually was developed. His design wasn’t anything special and he was legitimately just hired help by Reiji. However, in this duel we see a ton of incredible character defining moments for him: His grudge against Sora and Academia for what happened to his brother, his commitment not just to Reiji but to the Lancers, his trust in Reira but also his concern, and the tag team with Sora where he makes clear that he never intends to forgive Sora for his involvement with Academia, but he thanks him regardless. This is also the duel that firmly cements Sora as a good guy after about 50+ episodes of him being a villain from his initial heel face turn, where he finally decides that the friends he made in Standard Dimension are too important for him to turn his back on despite Academia being a literal child military. Speaking of…
#3: Shun vs Sora, Maiami Championship
The granddaddy of all tone setting duels in this series, this duel has a lot going for it, but it is phenomenal for one reason alone: how absolutely brutal it is. Yugioh has always gone out of its way to forgive all the cartoon violence in duels as just monsters looking cool, but this duel kicks it up a notch by showcasing just how brutal the Dimensional War between the Fusion and XYZ dimensions was. And mind you, at this point in the series, it was only slightly hinted, and we later see it in more brutal detail in Shun vs Dennis (Friendship Cup) and the duels in the XYZ Dimension, but this duel has another point to its favor: Sora’s heel face turn. At this point, all we knew was that Shun was going around attacking random duelists for no reason. However, it’s when Sora breaks out his own Evil Face™ that we really see the dynamic at play here: Sora is the spy sent to lower everyone’s guards, while Shun is the compassionate avenger that’s trying to prevent another dimension from falling the way his did. No other duel Shun has ever had as much impact as this one with the exception of his duel with Dennis in Synchro, but when put side by side, this is the duel that stands out because it’s when the series truly begins to take its darker turn.
#2: Yuya vs Jack, End of Synchro Arc
This one I feel is a little controversial, but I absolutely cannot understate just how important this duel is for Yuya’s character. The Synchro arc as a whole was considered a drag by many, and while there certainly are parts that it feels as such, it is undeniable that it provides very critical development for Yuya. This entire time, Yuya has thought that he could simply parrot his father’s ideals as a way to cope with his own insecurities (shirou emiya much? Lmao). However, Jack sees right through his game and completely humiliates him in their first encounter, telling Yuya that he isn’t worthy to stand against him unless Yuya can find his own words instead of the words he borrowed. After this encounter, Yuya tries to force his ideals again, but realizes that he needs to find another way to convey the message and ideals of Duels with Smiles that he wants. His duel with Shinji, Duel Chaser 227 and Crow all had Yuya learn different ways of expressing himself and further evolving his duel, up until this final confrontation. Deciding that instead of letting Academia and The Tops having their way, Yuya squares up and challenges Jack on his own terms for a final rematch. Throughout the duel, we see Yuya apply everything he’s learned so far, but Jack still tells him that he’s holding back and using borrowed words instead of his own, until Yuya finally hits his breakthrough: Pendulum was something he didn’t borrow from anyone, and it’s HIS OWN WORDS to convey his message. With that breakthrough, Jack has finally found an opponent worthy to test himself against once more, because he’s grown so strong that no one in Synchro Dimension was able to challenge him and his drive for self-improvement. Jack in general was such a clutch character to bring back because he’s the exact type of impetus that Yuya needed: A mentor who wasn’t afraid to tell him that he’s simply hiding behind what was given to him, and rather pushed him to achieve greater heights than Yuya himself thought he was capable of.
Alright before the #1 duel, let me list some honorable mentions bc while these didn’t make my top 5, I do still believe they are important and are all fantastic duels in their own right.
Honorable Mentions:
- Yuya vs Kachidoki, Maiami Cup - Yuya vs Gongenzaka, First Match - Shun vs Dennis, Friendship Cup - Yuya vs Yuri, Academia Arc - Yuya vs Battle Beast, Academia Arc - Yuya vs Duel Chaser 227, Friendship Cup - Yugo vs Serena, Friendship Cup - Yuzu vs Masumi, Maiami Cup - Yuya vs Shingo, Yosenju deck Maiami Cup - Shun vs LDS Trio, Start of Series - Yuto-Yuya vs Kaito, Academia Arc - Yuto-Yuya vs Edo, Academia Arc - Yuya vs Reiji, Round 1
And now...
#1: Zarc vs Lancers, Academia Arc
By and far what I consider to be the pinnacle of all duels across the ENTIRE Yugioh series (even beating out Yusei vs Z-ONE), this is less of a duel and more of an all-out war, the culmination of 130+ episodes of masterful foreshadowing and incredible build-up that results in what I consider the best final boss reveal in the series. Arc V is a master of foreshadowing across the series, and kept giving us hints that something BIG was coming, that The Professor and Academia weren’t actually the endgame villains of the series, and after the cast barely manages to eek out a victory against Yuri, it’s ultimately a failure as all the pieces are in place for Yuya to finish his IMA KOSO HITOTSU NI fusion with all his dimensional counterparts. Every single character, good guys, bad guys, and everyone in-between watch as reality falls apart, and births the monster made by their own hands, that is Zarc. I need to reiterate here that the greatest strength of Arc-V is foreshadowing because throughout this duel, we see the application of the ideals that Yuya had developed on his own, as “his own words” are what reaches to the extended cast. It was Yuya’s duty to raise them up as the Pioneer of Pendulum, now it was their job to drag Yuya back from what he has been reduced to. And all throughout, we see how Zarc was made, how he was so similar to Yuya in almost every regard, and we are reminded of all the times Yuya failed but had his friends to help him up, and how Zarc was just a Yuya who had no one to help him when he failed. Zarc who hurt people because it was demanded of him, and ultimately embraced his role as a violent villain as his ultimate act of revenge, because his audience asked for it. And yet, we also see Zarc have his absolute ass dragged by SAWATARI of all characters, and we see just how much of a coward Zarc really was. The entire duel just has so much going for it: Jack-Gongenzaka tag team, Ray and Reiji calling out to Zarc and Yuya, Zarc’s continued insistence that he’s just a monster, It’s So Damn Good. I tell people to watch Yugioh anyways because Yugioh is a great series, but this duel is so good that I would unironically tell people to watch Arc V just so they can watch this duel (outside of the many reasons I recommend arc v). It’s so good, Zarc is such a fun villain, it’s the climax of Yuya’s entire character arc, and I hold it in high regard as the best duel in Arc-V.
Thanks for taking the time to look through this little retrospective on one of my all-time favorite series, here’s to Arc-V’s 7th anniversary!

Fate and Phantasms #136: Illyasviel von Einzbern
Today on Fate and Phantasms we tap into our inner magical girl to build Illyasviel von Einzbern! So weird how they made a servant with absolutely no media depicting her other than FGO. Maybe they were going to do something else with the design and never got around to it, like with Proto Cu?
Anyway, it’s time to suit up and punish evildoers in the name of the moon cell!
Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: Oh hey another Emiya.
Race and Background
Like Mash and many other Homunculi, Illya’s race gives us a bit of trouble. Unlike Mash, however, Illya is being made after Tasha’s Cauldron came out, so we can always make her a Custom Origin. This gives her +2 Charisma for extra magical abilities, the Tough Feat for an extra 2 HP per level so she doesn’t die on impact with existence, and Persuasion proficiency to convince Emiya to let you have cookies before dinner, even if this one is from another universe.
You’re part holy grail, which is one hell of an inheritance, so the Inheritor background should be perfect for you. This gets you Survival and History proficiencies.
Ability Scores
First, make your Intelligence your highest score. Most innate magic comes from charisma, but a lot of yours got siphoned into your sister, so you’ll have to be clever with what’s left over. Second highest is Charisma, of course- even with a lot of your magic missing you’re still a force to be reckoned with. Also you’re a kid, and kids are cute. After that is Dexterity, because fighting Bazett is more “avoiding Bazett” than anything else. Your Strength isn’t great, you are still a child after all. Your Wisdom is even worse though- you go with the flow, and that includes making a deal with Ruby, so... not great decision making on your part. Lastly, dump Constitution. Some people would argue that surviving Quintett Feuer’s effects on your body makes you pretty tough, but that also means your own magic is already weakening you from the inside out.
Class Levels
1. Wizard 1: I promise we’ll get Ruby in a second, but first we have to make sure we don’t die on the way. As a first level Wizard you get proficiency in Intelligence and Wisdom saves, as well as the Arcana and Medicine skills for more magical girls and magical medicines. You also learn how to cast Spells prepared from your spellbook by using your Intelligence. For the sake of brevity here we won’t go into all of them, just expect all the big blasty ones to make the list.
Aside from that, you should definitely pick up Mage Armor to make your AC 13 plus your dexterity modifier. 14 is definitely better than 11.
2. Wizard 2: Second level wizards pick their specialty, and I’ll be honest I was super close to going with Evocation for their overcharge ability at later levels. That being said you’d probably like immediate results more, and nothing more immediately changes our options than Bladesinging! As a bladesinger you could wear light armor if you really want to, but your magical girl armor will be protection enough. Similarly, you get another weapon proficiency, but you’re already proficient in quarterstaffs, which is the closest thing to magic wands we have. You also get Performance proficiency to really sell the magical girl bit.
You also learn a Bladesong that you can start as a bonus action. It lasts for a minute, or until you’re incapacitated, put in heavy armor, or use two hands for an attack. While active, you also get a bonus to your AC equal to your intelligence modifier, get an extra 10 feet of movement speed, have advantage on dexterity checks, and add your intelligence modifier to concentration saves as well. You can use this a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus.
You should also learn the spell Healing Elixir either this level or the last for some experimental medicine!
3. Wizard 3: Third level wizards get second level spells. I’d go for the destructive ones.
4. Wizard 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to round out your Dexterity and Intelligence. Remember: odd numbers make PCs cry! You can also get Levitate for some early flight, and Alter Self to take care of your magical girl transformations.
5. Warlock 1: With base defenses secured, it’s high time to get a stick we can shoot magic out of. Your magic comes mostly from the Holy Grail, so Genie sounds like a pretty good translation. You get Pact Magic that you can cast using your Charisma, plus some extra spell slots that recharge on short rests. They don’t mix with your wizard slots, but you can use any available slot for a spell, so don’t worry too much.
You also get a Genie’s Vessel, a tiny object that you can jump into for a Bottled Respite. That’s not in character though, so we won’t go over the exact details here, but you can do that once per long rest.. While touching it, you can also invoke the Genie’s Wrath, adding your proficiency bonus in thunder damage to one attack roll-based piece of damage per turn.
For your warlock spells, Eldritch Blast is a must for any caster on the go, and Prestidigitation will help with minor magical effects. You can also Detect Evil and Good to seek out cards wherever they may hide, and Charm Person. That last one’s not really magic, you’re just cute.
6. Warlock 2: Second level warlocks get Eldritch Invocations to customize their magical girl journey. We’re taking Agonizing Blast now for extra damage on eldritch blast attacks, and a little something something at level three.
To keep up the damage even when it’s not your turn, grab Hellish Rebuke to blast enemies as a reaction.
7. Warlock 3: Third level warlocks gain the Pact of the Blade, allowing you to summon Ruby as an action, creating a magical weapon. You should also pick up the invocation Improved Pact Weapon to turn her into a spellcasting focus (and get +1 to attack rolls and damage) now you have your own magic wand!
You can also cast Phantasmal Force to create any kind of magical effect you might need to blast a single person. They have to make an intelligence save (dc 8+proficiency+charisma modifier) or they fall for the illusion completely, to the point that they can even take damage from it.
8. Warlock 4: Use this ASI to bump up your Strength so we can actually use Ruby, and you also learn the cantrip Sword Burst for some cutting magical attacks, as well as the UA spell Mental Barrier, which gives you advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saves as a reaction. You also get resistance to psychic damage! You may not be that wise, but you do have magical defenses.
9. Wizard 5: Fifth level wizards get third level spells! Fireball is a typical blaster choice, and Fly will give you your first bout of liftoff that you can actually control! Every good magical girl can fly, after all.
10. Wizard 6: Sixth level bladesingers can make an Extra Attack each attack action, and you can also replace one of those attacks with a cantrip for proper magic wand attacks.
11. Wizard 7: For your fourth level spells make sure to pick up Otiluke’s Resilient Sphere so you can turtle up using your magic barriers. It creates a magical hamster ball for a large or smaller creature for up to a minute, and nothing can pass though it, and nothing inside can damage anything outside or vice versa. If the creature you’re enclosing is unwilling, it can avoid entrapment with a dexterity save.
12. Wizard 8: Use this ASI for more Intelligence to gain extra AC and stronger spells.
13. Warlock 5: Fifth level warlocks get third level spells like Wind Wall for another kind of magical defense, and you can also use your Mask of Many Faces to Disguise Self at will for unlimited card use.
14. Warlock 6: As a sixth level genlock, your Elemental Gift gives you resistance to thunder damage, and your ultimate magical girl transformation gives you a flying speed for 10 minutes as a bonus action. You can use this a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus.
Since your concentration is no longer needed for flying, you can use it for spells like Spirit Shroud instead to make your attacks with Ruby a little bit stronger, adding cold, radiant, or necrotic damage to your strikes.
15. Wizard 9: Fifth level spell time! Just grab the big blasty ones, that’ll be fun.
16. Wizard 10: Tenth level bladesingers learn a Song of Defense, letting you burn spell slots to reduce incoming damage by five times the slot level while transformed. Blocking Bazett entirely would probably cost a ninth level slot at least, but it’ll hurt a bit less when she slugs you! yay....
Also, Legend Lore lets you ask Ruby about whatever magical nonsense you run into, and Wall of Force gives you yet another magical blockade to keep your friends safe.
17. Wizard 11: Another spell level obtained, another new tier of blasting spells for you to play with!
18. Wizard 12: Use your last ASI to bring your Strength up one last time. Now you and Ruby are a force to be reckoned with!
(Also, Create Homunculus will let you, that’s right, create a homunculus. I’m sure Irisviel would love to see her daughter get into the family business.)
19. Wizard 13: Your seventh level spells are as high as we can get this build, but that’s still another set of blasting spells you can use!
20. Wizard 14: Your capstone level grants you a Song of Victory, adding your intelligence modifier to melee attack damage while using your bladesong.
Pros:
Thanks to your warlock slots and arcane recovery, you recover spell slots at a prodigious rate, meaning you’ll rarely be completely out of magical power.
Concentration free flight is fantastic, especially on a build that can abuse the range like you can. Fling fireballs all you want, with no fear of reprisal!
On the rare occasion where you run out of mana, you can still be a respectable melee fighter, with 19 AC and a very painful Ruby Wallop with Bladesong active.
Cons:
You’re mostly wizard, and we dumped constitution. Even with tough helping out, your HP is still really low. If you take a paper cut you’ll be in Power Word Kill range.
You have limited time transformations. Generally speaking I’d think six minutes of Bladesinging and sixty minutes of flight would be enough, but if your DM likes to space out encounters you might be in trouble.
Multiclassing bites us in the ass again, locking you out of ninth level spells and splitting our casting modifiers. Trying to be good at hitting people also doesn’t help much.

At my Chaldea, there's a secret club called "nerdy girls with glasses". It's just what it sounds like. Now you don't HAVE to have glasses, but it's encouraged. The club discusses everything, from Particle Physics, to the pretty gals and guy at Chaldea, to manga, to the latest video games. We also order pizza, courtesy of Casa Emiya. Notable members include: Myself, Oskabehime, Sion, Jinako, Mash, MHXA, Hokusai, Suzuka-Gozen, Da Vinci (occasionally) and Fou (Honorary member). Any ideas for it?
Hello anon! Thank you for sharing your idea. I think it sounds like a wonderful club, however I only take headcanon requests for up to 3 characters (including s/o or oc/fgo master) maximum. In addition to that, your idea is one that sounds cool but the idea you have in mind is a bit too precise a group for me to write. I'm not sure I'd be able to write your club the way you wish for.
I think you have already shared the great ideas for the club with how you all discuss a vast range of fun topics; play video games and enjoy pizza! Would your club be into manga and writing with Osakabehime too or doing karaoke? Having tea parties or going stargazing too? I feel like your club will be able to do many exciting things together.

Battle Finish 2: Doing good is so hard, but it's so rewarding!
Profile:
Initial bond: Elizabeth has taken inspiration from the infamous Robin Hood to become the shadowed and hidden protector of Halloween! Neither the words shadowed or hidden apply to her, she still does her best.
Bond 1:
Height/Weight: 5'1" ・ 97lbs
Source: Historical Fact
Country of Origin: Hungary
Alignment: Neutral・Good
Gender: Female
Comment from her archery instructor: "She has potential, but did she have to go with Robin Hood!? It's embarrassing to deal with for me!"
Bond 2: One of the Robin Hood myths involves him being a noble, or an ex-noble, unhappy with the treatment of the people by their fellow nobleman. This Robin Hood is the manifestation of that, being a well-meaning noble wanting to give back to the people through stealing from other nobles and distributing wealth.
Bond 3: While this Robin Hood is not specifically money, this case involves the redistribution is candy! Elizabeth Bathory, with her love of Halloween, refuses to let someone hoity toity mysterious nobleman hoard all of the candy for himself, and thus donned the classic Green of the specter Robin Hood!
Bond 4:
May Princess EX: A unique take on the May King that Elizabeth associates with Robin Hood. However, this is mostly due to the cloak in question being enchanted by the very one in question, knowing that if she was going to go through with this, she would most definitely get hurt. Feeling responsible, he placed protection runes on it to make certain she wouldn't die.
Animal Communication A: Her dragon nature mixed with her current link to nature(not to mention her status as the May Princess) has given this Robin Hood the ability to communicate with animals.
Breath of the Nature Dragon D: An enhancement of her Breath of The Dragon E skill. This skill was tweaked when she adopted the persona of Robin Hood, making the mana more equivalent to that of a druid's than a supersonic blast of sound, restoring her allies to their normal state and debilitating the enemies somewhat with song.
Bond 5:
The Legend of Robin Hood: A manifestation of the myriad legends of Robin hood gathered into one song, weaponizing all the concepts and beliefs that people have about the figure as an assault on the enemy. The poison comes from both the death that Robin Hood was believed to have and her own connection with "Robin Hood" and "A person who uses poison as a weapon of justice".
Bond 6: (Complete Elizabeth Hood and Her Merry Troupe)
While Elizabeth Bathory is one of the most infamous murderers in all of history, we can't forget that she has been summoned as a 14 year old girl. Hyped on imagination, silliness, ideals of the Robin Hood persona, and sugar, she's bound to be a bit more active than usual. Sometimes, even a princess can want to run around and frolic, to get a bit dirty, to be a kid. Let her play the roll, let her be a child. She doesn't have to be that evil vampire, the murderer, or the proper dragon idol all the time.
My room lines:
Bond 1: Remember! I am not Elizabeth Bathory, I'm Robin Hood! I'm not hiding it, but refer to me as Robin! Or Robinette since we already have a Robin... Wait, Robin is already a name that isn't feminine or masculine! Hmmm... AUGH! Lizzyhood! I'm Lizzyhood!
Bond 2: My thoughts on the common folk? I certainly treated them wrong... Well, it's in the past, right? Even if people remember me that way, I can't change their thoughts.
Bond 3: Hm? Does how people view me bother me? Of course not! I've abandoned such silly ideas, I'm Lizzyhood now! ...You like me though, right? I want you to like me at least, since you're my Master.
Bond 4: I learned everything I know about Robin Hooding from the real deal! His face was priceless when he saw me in this outfit, so funny! And he immediately got me into training with a bow too! Though... he didn't really look like he was having fun... I must've been a bad student? Ugh, why am I worrying about that!?
Bond 5: You said that Robin was just like that because he was worried, right? I'm... relieved. I don't want him to find me annoying, or bratty, or anything like that. I want to be his equal! I want him... to like me as a comrade and friend! Even though what I said should be true... I want people to like me, even now. But... because of my past... Eh? You-you're... my biggest fan? Even with... I... *sniff* You can't go making a hero of the people cry like that, Master...
Conversation 1: Deerlet/Puppy, what shall we do today? Shall we go out and help the people?
Conversation 2: Master and Servant? Someone like me doesn't need a Master! Can I call you backup for now? At least for a bit?
Conversation 3: I made this myself you know! What do you think? I'm pretty, right? Like a little forest princess!
Conversation 4: People are really calling me cute in this outfit... Ah, I'm too adorable, I can't stay hidden!
Conversation 5 (Robin Hood): Oh hey! My fellow protector of the common folk! Robin, I've been doing great, right? Are you proud? ...What was that about childhood flashbacks? What's with that grin!? This isn't a game to me, I'm serious!
Conversation 6 (Any Nero): My rival! Even moreso now that I am a hero of the commoners, she is the picture perfect image of a corrupt leader who wants nothing more than to waste her time doing nothing and stealing citizen's money! But she's still a friend so I'm not mad at her or anything.
Conversation 7 (Emiya): When I was talking about how I'm a hero of the people, that red guy got all nervous. Does he have issues with that phrase? ...I probably shouldn't ask.
Conversation 8 (Any demonic servant): U-um... I-I-I-I'm a hero against tyrants, not demons... No! I can do this! Anything to protect the people...!
Likes: I love the commoners, and protecting them against the evil and the corrupt! But, other than that, singing is still my favorite thing to do.
Dislikes: With this on, I like closed spaces even less. Give me a forest over an inn's room any day!
During an Event: Ooh! That looks fun! Um, Deerlet/Puppy, let's take a bit of a break! Even a Robin Hood needs to do a bit of R and R now and again!
Birthday: Because it was your special day, I went out and picked some berries for a fruit pie! The crust is only a little burned on this one, but other than that it's perfect! Please enjoy!
Robin on Robin Hood (Elizabeth Bathory): She's still at that... Look, don't get me wrong, seeing her be so excited is heartwarming, but when I see her I see myself, when I started. I don't want what happened to me happen to her... As long as she's having fun, who am I to stop her beyond keeping her safe?
Nero (Caster) on Robin Hood (Elizabeth Bathory): Aw, how disappointing… I really wanted Elizabeth to be in a swimsuit so we could have a bit of fun in the ocean... But, even in those garbs she is quite the adorable figure indeed!
Proto Cu on Robin Hood (Elizabeth Bathory): Well, look who it is! Someone's having a fun time, why don't I give you a hand with that whole justice for the commonfolk thing? Come on, let's have a bit of fun whacking corrupt officials together! I got a few in mind right now!
Tristan on Robin Hood (Elizabeth Bathory): That dragon girl is playing dressup, and she seems to be even more interested in me now. Ah, it's because I'm a knight, a musician, AND an Archer...? Am I going to have trouble, Master?
Bedivere on Robin Hood (Elizabeth Bathory): The legendary Robin Hood... I know there are many alternate character interpretations of him, but... Wings and a tail? And hot pink? I never envisioned such flashiness on a thief...
Fuuma on Robin Hood (Elizabeth Bathory): I feel an odd sense of kinship with Elizabeth right now. Both of us, the blood countess and a person with oni blood, beings of evil that are trying to protect people... I must thank her for letting me join, it was really fun.

Fate/hollow ataraxia Part 2 - Food is Bliss (Phase 2)
What?! So, Bazett dying is something normal? She dies, he takes her home and she starts breathing again eventually?? Or does it just restart back in this house after they both die? Wow, they can practically never die since they’ll always revive back at the house, unfairrr! Anyway, Avenger huh? I guess he’s Angra Mainyu? Since he sounds like just a culmination of all the hatred and violence, whilst also being someone that’s weak enough that he can’t physically fight and win against other Servants? I guess it’s good that Bazett is his Master then since she’s so great at hand to hand combat~ Did Bazett actually summon two Servants? And the other one was Lancer and that’s why he’s able to stay in this world even though Kotomine is gone? Actually maybe she just made a contract with Lancer? I’m not sure how I feel about Bazett as a character, in a way she’s interesting in that she fights to protect the “correct” way of life, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel like she really cares since she seems to just feel like she needs to do this rather than this is what she wants to do? On the other hand, Avenger definitely has more thoughts and feelings towards things than he lets out with his superficial personality that he shows to kinda hide what’s inside.
Anyway, is that ghost house Shirou went to the place where Bazett and Avenger revive? Omgg hahaha, I love how when Sakura and Shirou had to cook dinner for heaps of people on the weekend, they started early on the brainstorming as to what they should cook, and when they were doing it, Shirou would refer to her as Chef Matou and Sakura would call him Chief Emiya hahahaa, they’re so cute! I think it’s one of the few times you actually get to see Sakura get full on cooking guidance from Shirou rather than the usual where they kinda just help each other out cooking their own thing. I wish we got to see the reactions of everyone eating the persimmon dinner! It would have been fun! I wanted to see the fruits of their efforts~ Oh well. It’s kinda saddening to think but it’s true that above all else, Rider is a monster that can and will eat humans if it comes to it, I mean, in the Fate route etc, it was apparent that she was unnerved over killing and devouring humans after all. As she said, she’s never been a noble spirit like Saber. LOL at Shirou wondering how it could be possible that young Gilgamesh is a nice little boy hahahah. I love their after dinner antics, lmao at Taiga losing her after dinner snacks to Saber through blackjack, she really gambles everything away haha. It was cute how Shirou scolded them🤣
Lmaoo, trust Illya to tease Saber for having a stuffed lion toy and then forcing Shirou to go buy her one too lol. HAHAHA, I love how Shirou teased Mitsuzuri’s little brother (Minori) about liking Sakura and tried to dig why he likes her🤣 Gotta love how much of a spoiled brat Taiga is to knee drop Shirou to play with her when he’s trying to sleep lmao. Honestly though, with the relationship Shirou and Taiga have, I can’t deny that I kinda wanted a Taiga route in FSN haha. Omg, I nearly died laughing at Shinji sulking at the harbour port for appearing only 3 times in the game when Sakura’s appeared so many times hahahahah. It feels like Shirou is the most smitten with Saber after all~ It was so cute when she discussed with him why bras and underwear had to have so many designs lmao. LOL, so it was Rin the troublemaker that told Saber to consult Shirou about it just because she thought it would be funny hahahahha. It was pretty hilarious when she insisted on Shirou accompanying her to the lingerie shop and Shirou ran away, but the icing on the cake was when Sakura and Rider overheard their conversation and Sakura wished her good luck on this quest lmaoo. Btw, I love how Shirou experiments making different snacks and he gets Saber the glutton to try them hahaha, so cute. Omgg Saber’s face enjoying Shirou’s baked sweet potatoes was so precious, she looked so happy🥺🥰 Lmao at Lancer picking up Makidera and them, and even saying his speciality is the javelin throw, I guess he’s not exactly wrong or lying hahahaha. Lancer being a part time florist is definitely a win win situation for him, he gets to pick up girls and earn some money haha!
I quite enjoyed Mitsuzuri’s meeting with Lancer, they got along pretty well due to their interest in martial arts etc, Mitsuzuri was so cuteee! I love how Shirou ended up bringing the party of Saber, Sakura and Rider to help clean Rin’s house hahaha, it’s true that with all her antiques and carpets etc it can be rather difficult by himself, not to mention how large the place is too! HAHAHA when Saber changed into her armour to clean Rin’s house. Lmaooo at Saber thinking all the gym equipment in the basement was what Rin tried to use as a catalyst to summon her but failed, it was so adorable when she started playing around with them all instead of cleaning hahahah, didn’t think Saber would be a bludger!🤣 It was really sweet to see Sakura’s reactions to things around the house, it was so adorable how she talked about Rin giving her the precious handmade ribbon (that’s on her hair) as a parting gift and saying Sakura has to repay it with a compounding interest rate lmao. It’s cute how she wanted Sakura to always feel connected to her through this “debt ”. Awww how cute of Saber to play with the lion plushie and even sleep with it at night!! She’s so cute!! Shirou totally deserved Saber’s wrath for teasing her about it so ruthlessly hahahah. Sakura is so mischievous! She literally just wrote down everything Shirou said in the letter to Rin hahaha, I love Sakura in this, she’s so cute but cunning at the same time hahaha. Omggg how embarrassing for Sakura that Shirou caught her hugging his jacket so lovingly hahahah! So cute though when she got all flustered. It was really thoughtful of her to notice that his button fell off and sewed it back for him.
Aww Rider going to school just to give Sakura and Shirou their lunches (that Sakura forgot) was cute, I also really enjoyed how Shirou ended up buying her food for them to enjoy together on the rooftop, it was really sweet of him. I don’t know, but Saber welcoming Shirou home and thanking him for his hard work at his job was so heartwarming, it really made me think she was such a great girl. I can’t believe this but my love for Rin is going to be at the same level as Saber if this goes on hahaha, Rin come back soon pls. I found it hilarious that Rider is so dissatisfied with bike number two that is mainly used for casual shopping, and really wants to use bike number one which is a racing bike, but Shirou is scared that she’ll be zooming around the neighbourhood like a rocket and refuses, which is very logical!! Lmao, just imagining Rider at her superhuman speed riding on that bike is killing me hahaha. Omg hahahah, that silly drawing of him imagining Rider being chased by the police on the bike and her escaping happily was so funny and cute LOL. Hahahaha, I loved how Rider tried to use her seductive skills to make Shirou bend to her will so she can use the bike, but then Sakura appears overhearing them, so she immediately runs away and leaves Shirou to deal with the misunderstanding hahahah. Honestly though, seeing Saber and Sakura co-operate happily making pie and enjoying the fruits of their efforts was so cute. They used to be rather awkward even though they got along relatively okay, so it’s pretty nice and refreshing to see that if they had the time to bond more, they could actually be so friendly.
I think I’m starting to see how and why some people might like Fate/hollow ataraxia more than the original game, because wow, seeing Sakura grow so much and become the captain of the archery club was so cool. I absolutely loved how resolute and strong she was, and I loved how she scolded Taiga for being a nuisance hahaha. It was so funny yet so cool to see that. And it’s not something sudden too, because Mitsuzuri stayed, supported and guided her into establishing more self confidence in herself into being a worthy captain so I’m glad it all worked out. Although it’s obvious Sakura would be a great captain seeing how she carries herself at the Emiya household haha. I also absolutely loved how she fed Shirou the obanyaki when they went shopping after, and it was honestly so beautiful and heartwarming to see how truly happy Sakura was. Not only is she now able to have a proper life where she’s spending time with people in the club and making friends with others whilst actually playing around doing other activities, she is also able to truly live for herself and not live in fear of anything in the Matou household. It’s so wonderful to see how nothing is holding her back anymore, and honestly this is the best ending for Sakura, or I guess, it’s more like a new beginning for her! I’m so glad they showed all this. Sakura used to think she didn’t have the right to play around and stuff, so seeing her enjoy all that made me feel really satisfied haha.
Confused Caster walking around the shopping district wondering what she should buy to make for dinner was cute haha. HAHAHA, I love how Caster and Sakura became friends because Lancer was trying to pick up Sakura and Caster hates his flippy attitude so she taught him a lesson lol. It was even more hilarious when Sakura subtly kept badmouthing Rin for using Shirou like a servant and Shirou not minding it hahaha, I think it was pretty funny how Shirou didn’t even realise or he ignored the fact that Sakura was talking about him and Rin haha. Omgg snake wine with a snake in it?! Reminds me of the crazy Chinese concoctions hahaha. Anyway, I really loved how persistent but considerate Shirou was into finding out what Rider likes to eat and what she doesn’t eat. I think it was really cool that rather than giving up after she said she doesn’t particularly mind whatever he and Sakura cooks, he instead asked her to come to the kitchen and get her to choose what she would prefer to eat from the ingredients they have. I really love how thoughtful Shirou is in changing his approach several times in order to get Rider to enjoy her food rather than just feel apathetic about it all. Lmao at Saber getting jealous that she doesn’t get to choose even though Shirou asks her what she wants to eat all the time hahaha. LMAO at Saber’s reaction to octopus and not realising she’s been gobbling it up all this time when she ate takoyaki hahahah. I love how through their “fight” about the weird things they eat, Shirou gets to understand a bit more about what Rider actually prefers to eat. Rin is hilarious for making Saber wear the fancy clothes Caster sent to them hahahah, it was so cute how traumatised Saber was hahaha. Shirou imagining Issei in a frilly dress was LOL, that cursed image hahaha. Hahahaha, I love how Saber didn’t give up on eating high class food when Shirou told her they were poor, and instead said that they should raise/make the ingredients themselves so that they could cook it in the future. It was so cute when she started talking about raising ducks and pigs hahhaha. Issei being fond of sweets is cute haha.
I don’t know why but I never thought about Kiritsugu’s grave at all lol! I never thought it would be in the forest at the Ryuudou Temple graveyard though! I wonder if Illya and Saber would ever go visit…but then again, Shirou doesn’t even go so I think it’ll be harder for them. Wow, I didn’t think I needed it, but hearing Kuzuki call Caster his wife and leave her in Shirou’s hands (to learn cooking lmao) was so..amusing LOL. On the other hand, Reikan (Issei’s brother) is a pretty cool guy! He’s chill, full of confidence but also a strict serious guy, I can see why Issei would admire him. He gets along nicely with Taiga since they were classmates so it’s pretty cute. I…feel so sorry for Shirou that he was caught between Otoko/Neko (his part time job boss) and Taiga, they’re monsters… Hmmm, the actual story part is quite short as usual. It was expected that the white hair girl was the one who restarted the holy grail war, but why does she become possessed and have claws come out of her? Poor Shirou dieddd! Is she hiding a monster inside that comes out when it meets Shirou at the wrong time? Hahaha. Anyway, I’m curious about her so I hope we’ll get more story stuff in phase 3.

2,10 and 12 for emiya? and i hope you feel better soon fae! get some more rest if you need it and don’t push yourself.
hi kai, thank you for the ask and well wishes! i’ll definitely be resting up lots, and taking it easy. please remember to take care of yourself as well!
2) on what do you disagree with other fans of your f/o?
idk how many fans subscribe to this train of thought, but i hear a lot of it from my twin so here’s my chance to complain about it, lol.
so, what i hear a lot of from my twin is that emiya (both archer and shirou) are “similar” to k-iriei because both struggle with understanding themselves and have trouble finding happiness (and some, apparently, say that they’d be best friends).
and, like, firstly k-iriei is just a walking ableism trope, and comparing emiya, who’s extremely traumatized from the events of both his holy grail war and the previous one, to him is just bottom line terrible! emiya finding happiness in helping others due to his survivor’s guilt and k-iriei’s sadistic tendencies are no where near the same! not only that, but just because characters are narrative foils doesn’t mean they’d be good friends. idk why anyone would think that emiya would ever be friends with k-iriei, the man who represents everything emiya hates, but that’s the worst take i’ve seen.
10) how did you feel when you realized “oh of course i had to like That Character”?
tbh, a part of me was like “i should have seen this coming”, especially now ahhdjdjd. he’s really just my type (tm), and plus i just gained a huge soft spot for him through all of the events in fgo. so basically i just sank into acceptance and just went “yup, great job me, of course you fell for the sweetheart with a sad past, great going.”
11) do you think it’s better to have a copious amount of content for your f/o, even with the risk of finding a lot of ship art, or better to have a lot less?
i’m a bit on the fence for this. on one hand, seeing ship art of emiya and robin and/or emiya and medusa is literally the best ever! like, it makes me so happy to see them recognized, and to see them happy together! and i don’t really mind art of him with cu and/or arturia either, both are fun ships that i kinda get! but also, the art of emiya with medusa and robin is way too few and far between! there really should be more art of them (especially all of them) together!
but it super bothers me to see ship art of him with rin or sakura, both who are underage! it’s extremely gross, and it’s totally not like there’s a younger version of him who’s both of there ages right there! like (high school) shirou exists, right there! that and the whitewashing i tend to see in fanart of him, it’s just excruciatingly terrible, especially since digital artists have the eye drop tool! other than that, seeing fan content of him really makes me happy!

RWBY: Recast 2
Nora Valkyrie: Erica Mendez
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c71337b74cbcb75525bb99832848f961/d45c11cbcf0d4c08-41/s500x750/84fb407e86e5f878a4318732db6d9207f40d738c.jpg)
Why I’d cast her: Erica has a knack for voicing hyperactive characters, such as Akko in Littke Witch Academia. It just seemed like a no brainier for her to be cast as Nora.
Pyrrha Nikos: Kate Higgins
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/516abd7d465cf52dd0c432f0b22540be/d45c11cbcf0d4c08-5b/s400x600/c45e97e473722edb5f2c25d857b21b9272aee277.jpg)
Why I’d cast her: This might seem like an odd choice, given her most notable role is Sakura Haruno from Naruto. But long ago, Kate was once Saber in Studio DEEN’s adaptation of Fate/Stay Night and while the anime wasn’t as good as it should have been, I thought she did a good job as the voice of our beloved Artoria. Combine the two characteristics of Artoria’s stoicism and Sakura’s more nicer side, I think she’d do a wonderful job as Pyrrha.
Lie Ren: Benjamin Diskin
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/43e30a1c2b19259a8099757275d8ebd0/d45c11cbcf0d4c08-ef/s540x810/e585f6a38b751fad1527e39ce28b7e0501da5e70.jpg)
Why I’d cast him: Benjamin has a lot of voice work under his resume, but his role as Ban from Seven Deadly Sins is what sold me as a possible choice for Ren. He can go from monotone and apathetic to loud and fierce in an instant. That’s the voice you want for that Nucklavee scene in Volume 4, when he finally lets lose! Yep, Ben Diskin would make for a good Ren!
Sun Wukong: Bryce Papenbrook
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fa165d4ed58c248c1f8b2c150e572dcb/d45c11cbcf0d4c08-23/s400x600/c1e1767061885d6087e83901cee41c6cd2419bb3.jpg)
Why I’d cast him: Bryce is just the perfect casting choice for Sun. He’s known for playing many heart throbs such as Shirou Emiya, Adrien Agreste to the fun and witty Meliodas and Kirito. A combination of those four results in the perfect Sun: a fun ball of sunshine with a serious attitude and great sense of humour! Seriously, Bryce would absolutely nail this role.
Neptune Vasilias: Eric Vale
Why I’d cast him: Like Bryce, Eric is the voice of many heart throbs in the world of anime. His most notable ones include Sanji, Yuki Sohma, Leo/Loke and, our very own tortured soul, Trunks! Not only that, but I feel he had the most “down to earth” and normal voices out of the actors on this list, which makes him a good choice for Neptune as he’s one of the few “normal” people in RWBY.
And that’s my list for the recast of the main players in RWBY. Join me once again when we recast the delightful Beacon staff! Thank you and have a good night!

Spring Anime 2019 Part 1: git gud
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4e8018e20b988c632b6c5a197b14a89c/tumblr_inline_ppnhqr678z1rh39k0_540.jpg)
I was trying to wait until something really good came along. This ran into a problem. Yes this is a day behind but not because of... that.
Amazing Stranger
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/605381438262121c5b2d257c96c00766/tumblr_inline_ppnhk39DZy1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: Otaku dipshit buys a figurine that turns out to be an alien robot girl from an anime.
❌ Otaku dipshit nonsense about perving on a figurine-sized robot girl. It’s bad, yo.
❌ Execution is as questionable as the content. I’ll give it a star for using 3DCG and 2D animation where they respectively make sense.
♎ Only ⅓ runtime so it ended before I could get mad.
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/aecb4e85461debc1fa81f9c2a4351581/tumblr_inline_ppnhehLaAm1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: Overachiever gets conned into tutoring a bunch of girls with specialized talents and general uselessness. The twist is that they don’t look identical.
♎ Basic ass harem setup with little to distinguish itself. And if it’s not a real harem it’s just a lacklaughter comedy.
♎ Characters aren’t terrible but sort of just there. Their talents are also too cartoonish to take seriously but not outlandish enough to be funny.
♎ You guessed it, production is workmanlike/undistinguished as well.
❌ Didn’t I just watch this? In any case, this lacks Quintuplet’s trademark sass so it’s just painfully mediocre.
Fruits Basket
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e3f8859f1607c7c7fa3de2dbe0680013/tumblr_inline_ppnh92hHxf1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: Poor but optimistic high school girl gets involved with a harem of supernatural critters.
♎ This seems incredibly derivative and unoriginal. Seems of course, because Fruits Basket is the OG so all the others ripped it off in the first place. Doesn’t change the fact that I’ve sampled and discarded dozens of otome harems exactly like this.
✅ The production is aware that they’re adapting a classic over here, so the production values are high. It looks nice.
✅ It’s directed quite competently as well, especially the comic bits have the right timing.
❌ I don’t like the characters much. Tohru is a little annoying and the boyz are a big nothing. That’s not good for a romantic comedy. Side characters fare much better but hey, side characters in a show like this don’t matter.
♎ I have no attachment to Fruits Basket so this will have to stand on its own. So far it looks watchable, but very middle of the road.
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8abcc6ee9531a0225bc7dfe863d6bb75/tumblr_inline_ppnhcv3of31rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: Kiraralike about a class of middle school girls that are all named after their personality. The main character (Bocchi Hitori, natch) is lonely and made of social anxiety.
❌ Dealing with #relatable topics is always sketchy, but Bocchi talking to herself for the majority of the episode just gets really old no matter what.
✅ However, once she starts actually talking to other people it gets better. Slightly above average for a show like this, which means inoffensively cute and very mildly comedic.
♎ This is a Kiraralike where all the characters are named after their personality, so I wouldn’t expect any depth. Not that that’s unusual for the genre.
♎ I’ll probably give this 3 episodes because these shows live and die by the cast, which we haven’t seen much of so far. If Bocchi’s character development sticks and we get a few good support characters, it might be fun.
Joshikausei
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/24828bfc27d9a2b7aa544c259cd88316/tumblr_inline_ppnhi9RXjP1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: the sound of one thigh slapping
❌ but
✅✅ though
Kimetsu no Yaiba / DEMON SLAYER
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b7deb9a32b5f6706bdd801b6906fab54/tumblr_inline_ppmab5Q6YI1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: Edgy shounen about a dude whose family gets KILL BY DEMONS (no, he isn’t the demons (his sister is the demons)).
✅ Actually better than that sounds, it’s pretty serious with its approach to the whole revenge thing. The edginess is also only apparent on the margins, so tonally it’s more or less fine.
✅ The main guy isn’t terrible and his superpower (a superlative sense of smell) is fairly subdued for the genre. You could tell a story with this.
✅✅ This is ufotable and it looks REALLY good. ufotable shows are always very elaborate, but their aesthetics can be questionable. This, however, keeps the postprocessing to a minimum and uses CG only where appropriate. I’d say it rivals Emiya-san for the best looking thing they’ve ever done.
❌ The OP shows a bunch of supercool superdudes fighting like they're in a shounen anime, just in case you’re wondering.
❌❌ Three words: Weekly Shounen Jump. This is an instant death sentence for the long run, since it will be stretched until nobody cares anymore, then get swiftly killed - with some lipservice to closure, if you’re lucky.
❌❌ In case you’re willing to take your chances, WSJ is still a magazine for babies and imbeciles, so get ready for its “distinctive” writing style. Here it isn’t quite as bad as in Promised Neverland, but you’re still getting 100% wall-to-wall voiceover coverage explaining things that you either don’t need to know or are blindingly obvious.
Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2c76c2700c0ac31d2d10e1cedfac54c0/tumblr_inline_ppnh0gd2jK1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: 90s eroge protagonist starts hopping dimensions to look for his dad or something.
❌❌ Those 90s eroge protagonists sure were hilarious, what with their lechery etc. Rest of the cast fills the genre template nicely as well, which is to say they suck.
❌ Doesn’t look outright terrible so far, but it already shows signs of slight jankiness that would lead me to suspect this is a candidate for a production collapse in the future.
❌ Story? Surely you jest. All that happens in the first episode is vague exposition and naked girls falling from the sky. I hear the game gets real good 100 hours in, btw.
❌ This isn’t just some 90s eroge, it is the 90s eroge. You know, before KEY came along and made them all respectable (ostensibly). In any case, YU-NO is regarded as some stone cold classic of epic feels. I have experience with those, and they usually are only great for as long as you can’t read them.
Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9f29af1d17c6799ce7ee197e5dbdec45/tumblr_inline_ppnh23b3oz1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: High school girls hates men because her father happens to be one. Understandable, since he’s also a tiny dirty old man caricature from the 60s. Can love bloom on the ecchifield?
♎ This is mostly inoffensive...
❌ ...except when it isn’t, of course. Which isn’t that often but still too often.
❌ It would also be appreciated if it could be less offensive in those instances because hot damn.
❌ Even if it removed the main source of irritation it would still be nothing much. Something like Hitoribocchi or Benkyou ga Dekinai has at least some potential, this doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere.
❌❌ My man Kenjiro Tsuda is wasting his time on this goblin’s comedy voice.
Mix - Meisei Story
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f17f811d574faa053b9763e98a5ea1b9/tumblr_inline_ppnhfdcVQE1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: Some kids play baseball, very slowly. You’re supposed to care because you presumably cared about Touch (which Mix is a very far removed sequel to).
❌ I did not in fact care about Touch. Nor about baseball, for that matter.
❌ Seriously, the entire selling point for this is “Sequel. To. Touch.” It cares not for your indifference towards Touch and would rather you go away.
❌❌ The languid pace is a killer. I know baseball is a boring sport but Mix doesn’t even attempt to make it interesting. This could work as an iyashikei-type show but in that case it would need different hooks, such as characters whose personality goes beyond “good at THIS aspect of baseball”. Maybe they’ll get to that but with this pace it’ll take a few seasons.
✅ I think the 80s design with a few contemporary animation frills looks quite nice. They’re probably doing their job right over there.
Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/94702e7726e40004a537dae30b8b2e25/tumblr_inline_ppnhh3LtSu1rh39k0_540.jpg)
What: One “Oda Nobunaga” is an otaku and somehow also a teacher. Girls looking for his better known ancestor approach him with marriage plans, and since they’re looking for a Sengoku warlord, they come with era appropriate sensibilities.
❌ Do not care much for anime about 14 year old time travellers falling onto some dork’s dick, sorry. Unless they’re real good. Which this isn’t.
❌ I suppose i should be thankful this isn’t an all-out ecchi show, but unlike the characters, “lmao they can’t fuck” gets old.
❌ Besides the obvious, this fails at pacing, comedy, heartwarming, production, etc. I’m getting tired of spelling it all out again, this season definitely has an overabundance of not-quite-terrible-but-subpar-in-every-way romantic comedies.
Senryuu Shoujo

What: Senryuu is poetry that’s pretty much a haiku, but not hella deep. A quiet weirdo girl and a delinquent type write some of those.
✅ This has low ambitions, but manages to meet them. It’s chill and cute and the characters are likeable.
✅ Half length, which is the correct runtime for something as slight as this.
♎ It’s cheap but not to the degree that it detracts from the experience.
✅ It’s the second coming of Go Go 575 and I’m all about that. Check it out!
ULTRAMAN

What: uLtRaMaN is an ultrasequel to UlTrAmAn in which Ultraman is now Ultradad and has to take care of his Ultrason.
♎ Decent looking by CG TV anime standards, though the amount of action is so low that it raises the question why it isn’t just live action, especially since it’s partially mocapped already. I would have expected more pizzazz, especially with Kenji Kamiyama AND Shinji Aramaki directing.
♎ Old man superhero has some charm, but the show suggests and Wikipedia confirms: He’s about to get his ass kicked and his much more standard progeny takes over. There goes your selling point.
♎ Apart from that, this appears to be a competent but not especially engaging sequel to Ultraman (i.e., it’s most definitely not SSSS.Gridman). I have no special affinity for Ultraman.

Fate/Zero 1 - 25 (FINAL)
Most of these notes stayed intact during Fate/Stay Winter posts, but I’m releasing them in an unedited version here (aside from the dotpoints and read more, of course).
Fate/Zero 1
For some reason, I have it recorded that I’ve watched F/Z ep. 1, but I don’t remember it! I only remember Saber fighting someone…that’s why I have notes for this ep too.
Ewwwwwww…what’s that in the Macedonian box…?
Oh! Heaven’s Feel is the name of one of the movies that came out this year or last.
LOL, the grandparents of Waver literally refer to him as “Waver”. I thought it was a title. Is it really his name???
I’m very good at making connections between seemingly disconnected things using only the things I know. I predict Kariya’s in for a verrrrrrrry bad time and will probably die in this Grail War, if not go bananas. I already know Rin, Ilya (the Einzbern child) and Sakura are already part of the Fate/ canon, so they’re probably going to fight in a Grail War as well.
Ahhhhhhh! B*stard Archer (that is, Gilgamesh)! He’s hereeeeeeeee!
What’s that counter on the ep title card…? Is it the time until the Grail War…?
Fate/Zero 2
I’ve seen enough spoilers being bandied about that I already know Rider is Alexander the Great.
Like, seriously, why do we call the dude “Waver Velvet”? What’s his real name?
Kiritsugu acts as Ilya’s dad, but…I’m pretty sure he isn’t her dad. Kiritsugu’s surname is Emiya, right? He’s Shirou’s dad, as far as I know. Then again, I only know what I know from being around Fate/ fans for so long.
LOL, there are far too many dragons in this name – Ryuunosuke Uryuu.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh! Is this Giant B*stard Archer???? Is this Giant B*stard Archer??? (i.e. Gilgamesh) Oooooooooh! No wonder people like Gilgamesh, even though they call him a giant loveable b*stard.
Fate/Zero 3
Thy don’t call Rider that for nothin’, eh?
I wonder how Saber managed to get a passport…? She’d need one, eh?
Oh…CGI car…it’s burning my eyesssssssss! (although I do believe Troyca didn’t do any better with El-Melloi’s Case Files)
“Hotel in Fuyuki” – They couldn’t be any more explicit with this stuff, could they…?
“…Highness.” – I can see why Saber is so popular with the Fate/ fans now.
Huh? I seem to remember the battle that comes next! Damn *bleep* <- (censored name of anime club manager responsible for the anime marathon that caused me to go from the beginning of F/Z in the first place)! I definitely remember Saber fighting Lancer.
Fate/Zero 4
(sorry, seen this one! That’s where the confusion was! So no notes here!)
Fate/Zero 5
Berserker looks like Goblin Slayer covered in smoke…LOL.
…Well, they don’t call that guy Berserker for nothin’ either.
Rider would make a great Santa Claus, LOL.
Fate/Zero 6
Isn’t there a Joan of Arc in the Netflix Fate/ (Apocrypha)?
Dang, that Kayneth is an evil b*stard, alright!
Kirei is basically Wolverine…?
No wonder you never hear about Caster when people talk about Fate/…he’s neither hot nor a waifu…so nobody gives a s*** about him.
Fate/Zero 7
Is that a Gantz?
Wait, y’mean Rider is motivated…by pants? *spits* Hahahaha…
You can see Ufotable’s much-praised CGI at work here, too.
I can definitely see why Ufotable was chosen for Katsugeki and why they chose Izuminokami for their protag.
Had to google Jeanne to remember what she looks like in this universe, but yeah…she does look like Saber.
For some reason, I had a fleeting thought that Lancer would be the one to be on the mountain alongside Saber…I was right.
So basically, the entire Fate/ series is this: who would win? A mage or an assassin? (Or something like this.)
Fate/Zero 8
I still think Kirei is basically Wolverine.
Kiritsugu = “to cut and tie”.Update: It’s “to tie” and “to inherit”, apparently.
F/Z 9
I wonder…just what is Lancer’s motivation for the Grail? Surely, Servants have their own motives…
I literally covered my eyes when Sola-Ui bent Kayneth’s finger back…it was almost as bad as seeing Nozomi get tortured (Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka)…*gulp*
“Not well” is an understatement, Sola-Ui.
I had to google how old Waver was in this Grail War…he’s 19, apparently, so right in my strike zone right here, so to speak~.
Beleaguered Waver is what you cool kids would call the 2020 Mood…and yes, I’m watching this on the 1st of January, 2020 (but you’re reading this after I put it up later in the month), so I’m keeping the comment.
“What kind of moron would go busting in?” – *facepalm* It seems Rider would.
What the heck is Rider riding his chariot over on the floor, anyway? What’s up with these sewer creatures ? They’ve got tentacles…!
F/Z 10
Rin reminds me of Asuka (NGE)…*gulp* That can only mean bad things for her.
Zenjo? I’ll make a note of that name.
That one glowing sign says “Fuyuki Station”.
Rin no Bouken = Rin’s Adventure. I don’t see why the subbers included “Big” in there, tbh.
F/Z 11
Uh-oh. Why do I get the feeling Saber’s going to get very, very drunk…?
Gee whiz, the great b*stard is a narcissist…
Well, sometimes I forget I had “Archer = Gilgamesh” spoilt for me ages ago…probably because he’s all over Babylonia, not to mention he seems to be one of the more popular characters precisely because he is the great b*stard.
“I wish for my homeland’s salvation.” – An interesting thing to say, considering Brexit.
What the f*** is a Gordius…oh, okay. So that’s Rider’s chariot.
How many Assassins are there??? I thought there was just the one, but there were 4 last time.
This discussion is interesting…no wonder Saber got mistaken for Joan of Arc back in the day.
Welp, Assassins gotta assassinate…*shrugs*
Eyyyyyy…there’s this one guy who looks basically like an older Waver Velvet! That explains a few things, I think.
F/Z 12
“Ramasonic” (sic).
I still think Gil-I mean, Archer’s snakeskin pants are hilarious.
I feel like last episode was a lot better in regards to how good Fate/ could be. This episode is just Ufotable animating talking Gilgamesh and Kirei heads.
Why do I get a bad feeling something bad’s going to happen to Maiya…again?
Kirei trying to look bada*s while leaning against a wall…it looks sort of funny, to be honest with you…because he bends his neck at a funny angle.
F/Z 13
This is the end of the 1st cour, apparently…according to AniList, at least.
“…5 billion people.” – I think the number is 7 billion now, but okay.
Never leave your Servant unsupervised, amirite?
I saw one of the bookstore’s shelves has science fiction on it…hmm, in a show with magic, that seems ironic…or was that non-fiction? Also somewhat ironic.
Oh, this “Don’t you want to do anything fun?” from Rider to Waver is an interesting parallel to Kirei’s episode (the previous one).
Dragon guy’s off his rocker…seriously.
Paraphrasing here, but “…if you want to use the Grail to make yourself taller…” – then stick to milk and other calcium products, Waver…LOL. I mean, other anime characters do.
Even Saber Naruto runs! There are no aliens here…but that car does have gull-wing doors (<-had to google what the doors were called), so…is it a DeLorean or something? Then someone could time travel instead.
I thought one of the previous commands from the overseers was to defeat Caster…?
Fate/Zero has become a kaiju movie, LOL.
Scared Waver is also a 2020 Mood…LOL.
F/Z 14
What’s this “Giant of Light” business…?
Geesh…If Ufotable did a Godzilla movie, I would watch that…(now that this monster makes me think of that possibility.)
This is a small quibble, but is it “Diabolo” or “Diablo”?
Somehow it didn’t even hit me until the fight was halfway over…but does Gilgamesh control a flying airship as part of his Noble Phantasm?!
Pretty scenery or not, talking people standing still are just that…not very entertaining, for sure. It’s basically the only flaw of this series, aside from the fact it hasn’t plumbed the depths of its themes yet.
Ufotable’s clouds look kind of like Gainax’s in Houkago no Pleiades, huh?
Tokiomi seems to blame Kariya for the whole sister vs. sister thing. Hmm, it really just shows how demented the guy is.
F/Z 15
Berserker is only ever in CGI, huh? No wonder Ufotable was given the job.
“That’s…from King Arthur’s legend…” – Can I please interrupt with the Excalibur song? (I’m annoying like that and want to ruin your level of immersion, that’s why.)
Hey, who knew? We get to see Joan in this anime, too. Thank you, Ufotable and Type Moon for saving me a Netflix subscription.
F/Z 16
“Things have been rather hectic this evening.” – Well, you don’t say…
*Saber and Lancer start their fight * - I detect signs there may have been people shipping Saber and Lancer at this point in time, what with their mutual ideas of honour and such.
Kayneth is kind childish, LOL – he’s like a kid peeping at his parents while they complain to each other about a hard day’s work or something.
Uh, this curse from Lancer here is definitely gonna be relevant later, right…?
I was muttering, “Oh goodness” (<- I’m self-censoring here, but you get the point) a few times over when Kiritsugu and Maiya finally got around to killing Kayneth, Lancer and Kayneth’s fiancee. By the way, were those two ever married…? Also, this makes me wonder…what would happen if you got a completely useless Servant? Like “King of Fools” or something. It would sound like the Familiar of Zero, sure, but it would be an interesting exercise in making a compelling narrative.
F/Z 17
Dangit, B*stard Archer. Disappearing just after you provoked Kirei…
Oh! I found the Avalon scene confusing at first, but now that they explain it, it makes a lot more sense.
“As I live and breathe, Kirei!” – Sounds mighty ironic for a meant-to-be-dead historical figure to say that.
F/Z 18
We jump to someone else’s story…or do we?
For some reason, I think this beach place is based on Okinawa. (It seems like the best match.)
“This isn’t a game.” – Seems highly ironic, given his current situation.
I know Kiritsugu is probably looking into Shirley’s eyes, but all they show is the boobs downwards, so I imagine it to be fanservice.
That shaking was just to disguise the bad animation, wasn’t it…?
…and suddenly, zombies!
Well, that’s great, Kiritsugu. You ended up burning down a village by association. Good job…
“Vampires.” – Well, that wasn’t the word I was expecting…
For some reason, I think this new arrival is a woman, but now that I get a proper look at their face, they kinda look like the Great B*stard (Gilgamesh). Update: It looks like they have cleavage, but then they also kinda resemble Samatoki (Hyp Mic)…so, uh…I dunno. Update 2: Okay, she’s a woman…Natalia, to be precise.
The houses on fire look a lot like the ones in Katsugeki, come to think of it.
F/Z 19
Wait, what’s a Mystic Code again…?
Oh, I didn’t think this show would do it, but there’s a good few seconds of recap. I know, because I had to skip it.
Oh, the reason Kiritsugu doesn’t seem to ally with the Association or the Church is because Natalia wasn’t part of either. Right…I’m so dumb.
Am I just reading into Kiritsugu’s pose here too much, or does he look like Christ the Redeemer a bit…?
There’s something oddly pretty about Vorzak. Then again…it’s too bad he’s designated to be dead.
I could tell Kiritsugu was CGI for a second…but he was in fog. Dangit, Ufotable. You know how to disguise your CGI well.
…Okay, those bees were very CGI. Scrap what I just said.
Bees on a plane. What a way to die.
I’ve noticed Kiritsugu’s eyes don’t have any pupils in them. They’re always kind of dead, but not in th same way En’s (<- from Boueibu) are.
What happened to Kiritsugu’s mother…?
The extended flashback seems to be the best way to my heart, assuming you can pull it off properly.
What’s with that “sometime, somewhere”?
F/Z 20
There hasn’t been a proper OP since 3 episodes ago.
Was Maiya ever interested in Kiritsugu as a woman? This vague pseudo-harem sorta annoys me, which is why I need answers.
The crows in this show aren’t very fluffy. Not that I have a problem with that…it’s just a bit random (and I’m saying that as I operate without much sleep and will have a huge period of getting up early in my near future, so you’re probably going to see even more randomness coming from my brain).
Modanyaki. Never thought I’d be googling a Japanese concept for this anime.
This sleeping bag Waver reminds me of Aizawa, but this is at least 4 years too early for that.
That cloud in the top left is shaped funny…like a knight, maybe? (There’s a triangular bit that looks lik a helmet.)
I believe the bird is a bush warbler (uguisu), based on the colour.
So this is where you learn what the f*** a Gordius Wheel is…right.(sounds a bit pissed)
Seeing Kariya squirm…it makes me thank my lucky stars I had the sound off. My imagination makes the scene worse, though.
So fakers beget fakers and killers beget killers, huh? Not surprising.
“I’ve always told him he was doing the right thing.” – Because you didn’t know any better, huh, Iri?
F/Z 21
“Knight on Two Wheels” – What would that knight be riding, a bike…? (somewhat sarcastic)
…A motorbike. Close enough. (not sarcastic anymore)
The motorbike’s plate says “Fuyuki - Te” – instead of a licence plate combo, Japan has a single hiragana.
Well, at least now I know why you never hear of Kariya outside Fate/Zero much…those worms don’t give him long to live.
Isn’t Tokiomi dead though…?
Holy s***, Kariya, you just got framed! *yells in the tone of voice as if Kariya got owned…which he did, in a sense*
*brow furrowed* What’s up with the framing of Aoi’s killing that makes this seem like attempted rape…?
Kirei looks all dead inside. (LOL) I know it’s the animators’ fault that they didn’t bother with him in that scene, but…he has the eyes of a dead fish there, y’know? I can’t help but laugh.
F/Z 22
Never in my life have I seen a grandpa want to talk on the roof.
The grandpa reminds me of Rider…that’s probably where part of their relationship comes from.
You can see the lack of sleep is getting to Kiritsugu right now…his face looks a little sunken…
…Fate/ is apparently pretty infamous for treating its women badly from a feminist persepctive and I think I get why now…(referring to the death of Aoi and now Kirei’s treatment of Iri)
I think the scariest part of F/Z is watching th emotionless guy learn how to feel…kinda like Equilibrium, y’know?
Hmm? I wonder how this show will choose to end, since it’s signalling its end from 3 episodes out?
I predicted Rider would say something along the lines of “…befitting of the Rider class” and lo and behold! He did!
So Rider can summon a single horse as well as the entire chariot? *Saitama face* Okay then.
Number of Times Waver Appears: 1, Number of Times Waver Cries: 1, Number of Times Waver Blushes: 2
Come to think of it, even though I had that weird “Ohhhhhh! Great B*stard Archer!” reaction at first, Gilgamesh has shown up in most of the worst scenes of this show so far (basically, most of the “talking heads” scenes where he talks shop with Kirei). Then again, my change in feelings probably because I’ve had to keep a special eye out for Waver and knew Saber was the poster girl for the entire series.
The counter appears to be “time until the Holy Grail War”…well, that or its final conflict.
F/Z 23
I like how Waver’s joining in with Rider’s yelling.
I have the sound off, so now I’m just mentally narrating Sakura with this creepy child voice and it’s spooking me out…the Urobutcher could really go toe-to-toe with Stephen King if it weren’t my imagination…(LOL…?)
I feel sorry for that car’s owner…the car wasn’t meant to be wrecked…
I fully expect Berserker to be Lancelot or some other guy in King Arthur’s canon, judging by Saber’s reactio-hey, who’s Arondight…? Update: Oh, f***. It really is Lancelot. Turns out Arondight is the name of Lancelot’s sword. How did I know? There’s that upcoming Camelot adaption, isn’t there? Connect the dots.
Oh, f*** me – I feel conflicted. On the one hand, Lancelot’s hella handsome (and his dark hair is exactly my kinda thing), on the other hand…doesn’t he look like he came out of Castlevania or Vampire Hunter D or something??? F***in’ vampires!
Oh, f*** again, I stand corrected. Lancelot was handsome, before he became a Caster-looking…thing.
*bursts into spontaneous laughter* The new Lancelot looks kinda like Tsukasa from Dr Stone, LOL.
Number of Times Waver Cries: 2
Wait, isn’t Bucephalus Greek??? Update: No, he wasn’t. He was Alexander the Great’s horse. That explains why he’s Rider.
I was wondering how Waver managed to live long enough to be El-Melloi II when he was stuck in a battle to the death. Welp, that’s how he did it, folks! *points at screen*
Number of Times Waver Cries: 3…but…anti-climax, much, f***in’ Gilgamesh???
Uh, what’s up with Psalm 23:4? (I had to google that snippet of the Bible to find out its citation.)
LOL, Kirei and Kiritsugu have very similar faces. Didn’t realise that until now.
F/Z 24
It’s weird seeing Kirei full of fighting spirit…He’s still frickin’ Wolverine, though.
Is this taking cues from the Matrix? I bought it from the charity store the other day because I haven’t seen it yet, but I know Bullet Time from TV Tropes.
Now Kirei is channeling Bruce Lee, LOL.
Ouch…the bullet to the hand reminds me of the nail gun scene in The Island (which still freaks me out to this day). (…and now I’ve gone and done it – every time I think of that movie, I get the song The Island – part 1, at least - in my head as well.)
I can almost see Sakaido (from ID: Invaded) in some of these scenes instead of Kiritsugu…trust Ei Aoki and associates to do that.
I went to dump a screenshot in Paint and one of my Fate/ backgrounds from one of the previous posts was set to my background! (I have my backgrounds set to rotate every 12 hours and I have over 600 pictures for that purpose.) *sighs happily and incredulously* Well, whaddaya know…sometimes the stars do align.
I almost expected Shirley to appear, but it turns out it was Iri instead.
Kiritsugu still has his Command Seals so he’s still connected to the Grail War somehow…hmm…
C’mon, I predicted Gilgamesh would compliment Saber when she was down and bleeding.
F/Z 25 (FINAL)
Who’s Lord Justeaze?
Sakura has the same eyes as Kiritsugu. Dead, lifeless eyes.
Did Kariya just throw himself to the worms???
The Great Naked B*stard Gilgamesh.
A priest is a zombie, huh? How ironic.
Isn’t Gilgamesh annoyed by his lack of clothes…? Update: Never mind. He gets a cloth soon enough.
Wait, if Saber destroyed the Grail, who won…?
Huh? The timer ran out.
Aw, even Waver’s growing up.
One of the books says 零戦 (reisen) which apparently means “Zero Fighter [Plane]”. One of the sets of books says “William Shakespeare”, who I know is a Servant somewhere in the Fateverse.
The Bible verse is Job 19:25.
Lancelot’s head doesn’t disappear when the rest of him fades away…It’s pretty poignant.
Jubstacheit is the head of the Einzberns. Update: Think I had to google that.
“Becoming a hero has an expiration date.” – As much as I know that in my creative heart to not be true, my adult heart says yes, it’s true.
Welp, that’s the end of one series. Time for another.

Cool to include a Robin Hood character- Roka is pretty neat! Where does his name come from?
Thanks. @lookyeekiti / @lythecreatorart really inspired the character from her own OC, Rosaline “Hoody” Hood, and her own Robin Hood inspired group, the Hoods, which she gave me permission to use.
“Roka” is a Japanese name meaning “White Crest of the Waves”. Following the rule the late great Monty Oum put in place, Roka eludes to the color white. Fun fact: his cloak is based on Hoody’s outfit, which can switch from white to gray to blend into the snow and the wasteland that is Mantle
“Emiya” is a Philippine/Japanese (got conflicting sources) surname that means “God Is With You.” Most famous currently for the surname of Shiro and Kiritsugu Emiya from the Fate Stay anime series, whom Roka also alludes to.

Fate and Phantasms #109: Emiya (Assassin)
Today on Fate and Phantasms we’re continuing our trek through Fate Zero with the assassin class Edgemiya, with the ability to alter his own time and everyone’s luck. Despite all his cool powers, he’s still pretty depressed. Oh well, it’s probably nothing a few more builds won’t fix.
Check out Emiya’s build breakdown below the cut, or his character sheet over here!
Next up: “Do I contradict myself? Very well, then, I contradict myself. I am large- I contain multitudes.” -Walt Whitman
Race and Background
Emiya made a deal with the spirit of humanity to protect the human race, which is exactly why he’d make a great Hobgoblin... I’m kidding, he’s a Variant Human, for +1 Dexterity and Charisma, Arcana proficiency (or whatever else a rocket launcher would fall under idk), and the Crossbow Expert feat, allowing you to ignore loading crossbows, fire well with enemies in melee range, and dual wield hand crossbows. You can control the flow of time, you should be able to fire more than once a round.
You’ve fought in plenty of wars, but it’s hard to call a professional assassin anything but a Criminal. This gives you Deception and Stealth proficiencies.
Ability Scores
This is a pretty mono-ability build- make your Charisma as high as possible. You’re a pretty scary guy, and you shoot good. That’s charisma. Somehow. After that is Dexterity- you’re really stealthy, and really, really fast. Your Intelligence isn’t half bad. You can use plenty of fancy modern weapons, and you can hunt down mages to use them on. Constitution doesn’t have to be that high, you don’t need health if you just don’t get hit. Your Strength isn’t great, but it’s enough to get the job done. We’re dumping Wisdom, though-your entire characterization is about how much you regret making that deal with Alaya. You’re not bad at noticing things though, we’ll just have to patch that up with skills.
Class Levels
1. Rogue 1: You have a particular set of skills, and rogues start off with the most, so let’s spend a little time here for now. First level rogues get proficiency with Dexterity and Intelligence saving throws, as well as four rogue skills- Acrobatics to enhance your mobility, Intimidation for that no-nonsense attitude of yours, and Perception and Investigation to hunt down and destroy your enemies.
You also get Expertise, doubling your proficiency bonus for Stealth and Intimidation. Presence Concealment A+ is some good stuff.
You can also add a Sneak Attack bonus to damage done by attacks with advantage or directed at creatures who are occupied with other creatures. Right now, it’s just 1d6. You also learn Thieves’ Cant. It’s a language.
2. Warlock 1: Alaya’s kind of a lot of things to a lot of people, but Hexblades work best for us so a Hexblade it shall be here. As a hex warlock, you learn how to place a Hexblade’s Curse on a creature. It lasts one minute, or until one of you two dies, and you can use it once per short rest. While cursed, you can add your proficiency to damage against the target, all attacks made crit on 19s as well as 20s, and you gain hp when the cursed creature dies.
You also become a Hex Warrior, giving you proficiency with medium armor and martial weapons. You can also use charisma as your attack modifier for one weapon per long rest, as long as it isn’t two-handed. Right now, that means you’re using hand crossbows.
One last benefit of being a warlock is Pact Magic, spells you can cast using Charisma. Grab Eldritch Blast for more shooting and True Strike for more careful shots, Expeditious Retreat for some extra speed, and Cause Fear to drain the luck of one poor sap for up to a minute, rendering them unable to move closer and giving them disadvantage on attacks while you’re in sight for the duration. Sure, making yourself luckier would technically be more directly in line with canon, but it’s a “six in one hand, half a dozen in another” sort of situation.
3. Warlock 2: Second level warlocks get Eldritch Invocations, extra ways to customize the Selling Your Soul Experience! You get two right now, but we’re saving one for The Obvious next level. Grab Thief of Five Fates for yet another way to ruin someone’s day. You can cast Bane once per long rest by using a warlock spell slot. This reduces all the saves and attack rolls of three creatures who failed their charisma saves by 1d4 for up to a minute. The DC on those saves, by the by, is 8 plus your proficiency bonus plus your charisma modifier. You can also cast Hex now, in case your enemies weren’t unlucky enough. This makes your attacks deal extra necrotic damage, they get disadvantage on ability checks with one ability, and you can move the effect to another creature if the first drops to 0 hp, which is nice considering it lasts an hour.
4. Warlock 3: Pact of the Blade time! This level lets you summon a magical pact weapon as an action. This weapon always has the benefits of being a Hex Warrior, and thanks to Improved Pact Weapon it can also be a ranged weapon. Specifically, it has to be a Light Crossbow now, because weapon requirements in D&D are obtuse and terrifying.
On a lighter note, you get second level spells now! You can speed up enough to create a Mirror Image of yourself, creating three copies of yourself on the same square you’re standing. If you’d take a hit, there’s a 75% chance a copy will get hit instead and get destroyed, leaving you with only two, and so on.
5. Warlock 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to bump up your Charisma for better... everything, really.
You can also cast Minor Illusion to leave afterimages further away from yourself, and Blur, which gives creatures attacking you disadvantage.
6. Rogue 2: Back in your other class, you learn how to make Cunning Actions, speeding up your Dash, Disengage, and Hide actions so they can fit in a bonus action instead.
7. Rogue 3: It’s no surprise that you’re an Assassin. I mean, it’s your class, but it’s also your subclass. As an Assassin, you can Assassinate enemies that are surprised and/or slower than you are. You have advantage on creatures who haven’t taken a turn yet, and hits against surprised creatures are instant criticals. Speaking of advantage, you can use your Steady Aim as a bonus action to give your next attack advantage, at the cost of losing al your movement for the turn. Despite this, you’ll have plenty of ways to move in a pinch if you really have to.
Also, your sneak attack goes up to 2d6.
8. Fighter 1: Yes, it’s another 3-class build. Don’t worry though, this one’s just a splash. As a fighter, you get a fighting style- Archery will make your shots even more accurate than they were before. You can also use your Second Wind as a bonus action for a bit of healing. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding time for a breather, after all.
9. Fighter 2: Second level fighters can use an Action Surge once per short rest to add an extra action to a turn. Save up for a burst of gunfire, or cast Mirror Image and Blur at the same time to become almost invincible have fun with it!
10. Warlock 5: Speaking of doubling up on things, at fifth level warlocks get another Invocation. Thirsting Blade lets you attack twice per action. You can also move fast enough to Blink out of existence. On the end of each turn for a minute, you have a 50% chance to enter the ethereal plane until the start of your next turn.
11. Rogue 4: Use your next ASI to grab the Piercer feat, for +1 Dexterity, the ability to re-roll one die of piercing damage per turn, and an extra critical hit die when you shoot somebody. If you don’t plan on wearing medium armor, this will also increase your AC.
12. Rogue 5: Fifth level rogues gain an Uncanny Dodge, spending your reaction to halve the damage of a single attack. I’d think you wouldn’t get hit by this point, but nat 20s happen to everyone eventually. Also, your sneak attack is 3d6 now.
13. Rogue 6: Use your second round of Expertise to double down on Perception and Investigation. You’re a professional, you’ve got to get results.
14. Rogue 7: Seventh level rogues get Evasion, making you fast enough to outrun fireballs. If an effect makes you roll a dexterity save to halve damage, a failure makes you take half damage now, and a success completely negates it. Your sneak attack reaches its final form at 4d6.
15. Warlock 6: Sixth level hexlocks can make an Accursed Specter once per long rest out of humanoids you kill. They stick around until your next long rest. This is very not in character for you, but free help is free help.
To help with all that killing, you can also cast Spirit Shroud, adding extra damage to short-range combat, preventing healing, and slowing down nearby enemies.
16. Warlock 7: You can now burn spell slots to power gunshots thanks to Eldritch Smite, which adds a lot of force damage to a weapon attack. To help maneuver around the battlefield, you can also cast Dimension Door for a quick burst of speed.
17. Warlock 8: Use your last ASI to maximize your Charisma for stronger spells and weapons. You can also cast Shadow of Moil for that dramatic shadowy look you get at higher ascensions. It also works as yet another reason people really shouldn’t hit you.
18. Warlock 9: Ninth level warlocks max out their spell slots at fifth level, allowing you to cast Far Step for a longer speed-up session. While the spell lasts (it’s concentration, up to a minute) you can use your bonus action to teleport 60′. You also get the invocation Trickster’s Escape, which lets you cast Freedom of Movement for free once per long rest. While active, your latent timewarping prevents you from being slowed down by magical effects or difficult terrain. (At least that’s what it looks like from the outside. They don’t need to know you secretly spent two turns getting through those hedges.)
19. Warlock 10: Our final gift from Alaya is the Armor of Hexes. If you’re going to get hit by a hexcursed creature’s attack, you can use your reaction for a 50/50 chance of ignoring the attack completely.
You can also cast the cantrip Friends this level. You’re scary, this’ll make you scarier for a bit.
20. Warlock 11: Having sixth level spells on short rests would be busted, so instead of growing your spell slots warlocks get a Mystic Arcanum. This lets you cast one sixth level spell once per long rest, like those plebeians with spellbooks. Your spell is the Circle of Death, letting you go full on Reaper on a pretty large area, dealing 8d6 necrotic damage to every creature that fails a constitution save in a 60′ radius sphere. It’s not dexterity, purely because there’s that many bullets flying around.
Pros:
You are very, very good at critical hits. With a doubled chance of critical damage and guaranteed crits on surprised creatures, you’ll be rolling a lot of dice pretty often. Especially since you can take advantage of critical hits easily thanks to your smites and sneak attacks.
While you can dish out damage easily, you’re also great at avoiding damage entirely, with plenty of spells that make you harder to hit, teleportation to get out of tricky spots, and multiple ways to dodge attacks even if they’re critical hits. Your mobility also makes it a lot harder to escape from you.
Maxed out charisma, the archery fighting style, and free advantage from Steady Aim means even after the fight starts you can still deal consistent damage over long periods of time. Your shots are going to land more often than not, and they land pretty hard.
Cons:
While you can deal damage over time, your kit is definitely geared more towards short bursts, because most of your skills are on a strict cooldown, with one or two uses per short rest. This is especially true of your spell slots. Warlocks eat up spells fast, especially if you’re using them for offense and defense.
Your low wisdom means you’re going to be fooled by illusions and charmed pretty easily. As a precaution, it might be best to use up your burst damage skills as soon as possible. You really don’t want to have to turn 9d8 + 4d6 + 12 damage on your party members.
Your HP isn’t that high, barely scraping above 100 at higher levels. While you have a lot of ways to make that last a lot longer than you’d think, there’s always the chance your DM’s getting sick of you surviving everything and will just throw someone with Power Word Kill your way.

Spookyfic act one author’s notes
So, with two chapters of Spookyfic out we’re officially at the end of the first act, with all of the characters and relationships that will be important to the story introduced, and with a juicy intriguing Inciting Incident kicking us forward into the next stage of the plot. Given that this is a mystery story, I welcome any and all theories, wild and outlandish or otherwise (`ω´) I might not be able to confirm or deny anything, but I am genuinely curious and excited to see what people think!
Some notes (bonus material? Director’s commentary?) on The Tale So Far below the cut:
youtube
There are a few concrete things that led to the creation of this fic—some of them I can’t talk about yet bc they’ll be spoilers, but let’s start with the basic catalyst:
I finished the first semester of my honours year and my brain kind of melted. I wanted very badly to write something entirely new and many steps away from the work and topics I’d had my head buried in for three months. I thought this was the optimal time to jump back into coffeefic, but alas… it didn’t really gel with me, and felt too much like Something I Had To Do, and the last thing I want is for a work so close to my heart to feel like a chore. It is still happening, it’s just been put on the backburner so that I can attack it (and finish it!!) when it’s a more exciting prospect and I can dedicate more of my heart to it
I played Night in the Woods with my sister and got punched in the guts
There are many inspirations that have fed into spookyfic, but NITW was the big one that gave structure to these themes I was thinking about. Obviously, the title is a Night in the Woods nod—it is, in fact, taken from the last line of the official website’s blurb for the game:
But things aren't the same. Home seems different now and her friends have grown and changed. Leaves are falling and the wind is growing colder. Strange things are happening as the light fades.
And there's something in the woods.
…because it just sent such a shiver down my spine. Hot damn this game does atmosphere well (I wrote a whole post about it here, if you want details—spoilers don’t kick in until after the YouTube clip!), and so artfully combines complicated character relationships, worldbuilding, and spooky mystery that it just got into my brain and wouldn’t leave. It’s pretty obvious that spookyfic owes a lot to this game. I really wanted to capture that same mix of off-kilter creepiness, the strong sense of character and detail to the setting, and coming-of-age story. The premise of “college student returns home due to undisclosed mental health issues and is forced to reconnect with their small town, also holy shit, mystery” is inspired directly by NITW, but the pattern diverges after this first arc—i.e. Something in the Woods won’t spoil the end of Night in the Woods, and if you’ve already played Night in the Woods, you don’t have to worry about having the end of spookyfic spoiled.
I definitely recommend that game if you’re digging an artistically distinct, fun, emotional rollercoaster of a story. The soundtrack is also rad as hell. But I think I’ve sung the praises of that work enough for now, so here are some other miscellaneous notes about parts one and two of my own story:
“The Vanishing of Shinji Matou” is a nod to Stranger Things, the first episode of which is called “The Vanishing of Will Byers”
As with coffeefic, this story is set… kind of in a liminal space, country unspecified. Just as coffeefic is set in “a big city full of opportunity and rife with coffee culture”, spookyfic is set in “a small town where nothing ever happens” because the setting is just another character that adapts to the new AU
Ilya’s death isn’t a reference to anything in particular, I just really enjoy the “fire and ice” motif for the Einzbern-Emiya siblings
As much as it’s a hot pot of nonsense (I also have a post about this going up soon lmao), I have to thank Riverdale for providing the inspiration for the core of the mystery plot: Riverdale’s mystery also surrounds the death of a nasty teenaged boy whose family has so much bad blood and complex antagonisms with the rest of the town that basically everyone has a motive. This initial hook is basically the only well-constructed thing about Riverdale
Sometimes editing/redrafting is getting halfway through a story and going “wait, this is a whole new universe, and THERE IS NOTHING STOPPING ME FROM GIVING MAIYA A WIFE” (you will meet her in the next chapter, if enquiring minds want to know :3)
Shirou and Sakura…. are very good and I love writing them, both as individual characters and as a relationship dynamic. They suit slow-burn so well, but, having kind of tread that water already in coffeefic, I was interested in writing a story where they resolve their romantic tension early on and face the rest of the adventure as a couple. They go from Mutual Pining to Practically Married within a chapter and it’s great. It also opens up the floodgates for them to be much more emotionally honest with each other, having gotten The Big Secret of their crush on each other out of the way. I’m also super duper enjoying having them as dual protagonists
A big shout-out to @itsallwineglasses for being such a helpful beta editor, whether it was insight on the tone and description or just hilarious reactions and asides (`・ω・´) b thanks bud

Can I just say how it pisses me the fuck off seeing so many mediocre and repetitive "Shoehorn Shirou into another Timeline" stories surging with popularity while stories like yours just slowly grow? There are awesome ones like the ones you favorite and some others but I really think people need to explore other avenues besides how to make the original MC act in yet another fucking world. Do you ever get mad seeing your work's growth while others soar like a plane? Thanks for being different.
Thanks for following the series!I understand you have strong feelings about a certain category of stories and their readers, and that’s alright, but I would just like to courteously remind you of a few things.
To be fair, my series is posted in the “Fate/Stay Night” section, even though it has sub world that contain a host of all other Fate/ games and animes that… Well, we don’t delve into that strange organization.
The main point is, most high-count stories feature Shirou Emiya, the main character of Fate/Stay Night. As a well-written protagonist, he carries with him an almost-guaranteed large following of fans who wish to see him doing different things. Take a look at the other big names of the category like Path of the King or Chaos Theory. Most stories in the category that have hundreds or thousands of favs and follows almost always have the same thing in common: Shirou Emiya is the lead. Anything besides that won’t get as much recognition simply because they lack that added virtue.
It’s understandable, and I don’t find any reason to be angry at that. People want to see Shirou doing his thing, so others cater to that and have fun doing so.
I’ve only glimpsed the front page of the Fate/Stay Night category a very few times in the past few months, so I’m admittedly ignorant of what some of these new stories are you’re referring to. Thus, I won’t say anything of their perceived quality because it would be unfair to judge by hearsay.
That being said, I will discuss my series’ growth instead because I know that well.
At times in the past, I get a bit frustrated it seems a tad slow, but now I like to remind myself that someone initiated a TVtropes page back when the series was in its infancy and admittedly sub-par compared to its current state. I’m averaging roughly 10-15 new recognition points (fav or follow, not combined) a week and have a base of hundreds who like seeing what I write. I’ve even seen it mentioned in other places like Reddit with positive, kind referrals, which is a huge compliment for any fanfiction considering its lingering stereotypes.
Add in that it’s a slight AU with some Nasuverse red flags (robots, science division), OCs, Character Shipping, and some other roadblocks? I’d say my series is doing extraordinarily considering its limitations. So no, I don’t get mad other fics are doing well. That’s great for them, it really is. It means people are reading what they write and enjoying it, so who am I to judge them for that?
I’m satisfied with what I have and will continue to write entries for my fanbase to hopefully enjoy. Hopefully the flow will continue to grow and more will give my series a chance.
