i'm going to be honest. i don't think i have any "least favorite canon thing" about sauron. he's a very well written villain with flaws and soul. like, okay, tolkien i see the vision.

💘💝💋💌💖💞💗💓💕💔❣🖤💫💣 - THIS is the emoji sauron would use #tome. i just know it in my soul that he love hearts emoji, while tweeting or posting the shadiest shit about someone. like- just straight up mean shit 😭😭😭 he DON'T HOLD BACK. if he has a priv he's the kind of mutual that would openly talk shit about you.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?

OOF good question. i'm going to list my top three that i like and i hate when it comes to sauron in fanfic. starting with what i like :

1) i love it when author present sauron as this ancient spirit that has a strong allegory to fallen angel. like they don't even hide it, because that's what he is and melkor inspired by!!! it just feels right when i see him characterized like that. it also add to this creepy factor where you know- that this creachure is evil- and YET- he dress himself in light. there's something uncanny about that. it's like he's a shadow of what he used to be. BONUS : when it's written from his perspective and he curiously thinking about how fragile everyone is,,,, oooh so good.

2) that he has a genuine connection with the characters he paired with ( romantically or platonically ). it's so SO GOOD. i don't like it when villains are spiteful with no substance. i find it so much more interesting if author intepret sauron as someone that yearn to bond. when i think about the valar, maia, and ainur, i like to base them off from most folklores where spirits can still have attachment towards (im)mortal beings. sauron may be hateful but he can still appreciate and adore the elves and men of Eru.

3) there's a balance between sauron the cruel and sauron-that-believe-he-Did-The-Right-Thing. OOOOOH when the author hit this perfectly, i did a little dance. i just love it when author emphasize sauron's tragedy with his own blinding pride. he is capable of kindness, but his belief deny him of this. once in a while he would show fondness to the children of Eru- BUT- his hatred would take over that light in his heart. so basically more sauron inner struggle.

NOW FOR THE THINGS I dislike :

1) when he's so.. humanized. as in his character doesn't feel like this creepy spirit that haunt the entire middle earth lmao. this is purely my personal opinion, but i want to be unsettled when i read his pov. i don't like it when he talk like a common man or think like a common man.

2) when the author write him as TOO nice. unless it's an au, i could never continue a fic where he's being so out of characterly sweet. he need a little sprinkle of darkness there. PLEASE.

basically that's it. lotr writers are so talented i could barely think of another point 😭 the good outweight the bad.

It's a bit too intense for their relationship considering they were Not That Close to begin with, but I always associate The Borders by Sam Fender with Kong and Marlon, because it kind of captures a feeling of seeing somebody be or become a fuckup who you had or could have a close relationship with. Somebody on here pointed out ages ago that in some german teaser of an episode Kong is actually referred to as Marlon's "classmate", and I feel like that would add so much to their relationship. Imagine some guy almost killing your friend and next Thursday you have to do a math group project together. There'd be violence, Marlon is a better person than me. Anyway. I have a lot of feelings about them. S2E8 is my roman empire. And this is not specifically song-related, but while we are on the topic of DWK and music: I absolutely love the metalhead Vanessa, Deniz + Markus agenda, and I want to add that I think Raban has some insane hyper pop techno shit on his playlists because it "helps him focus". Everybody is kind of concerned. Willi thinks only songs written before 1982 are "real music" and he listens to Bob Marley a little too much. The more punkish Siegers (Sense, Kong) strike me as old school punk fans who are kind of snobs about it. There are limited brain cells in those heads and all of them are used up by memorizing weird facts about the Sex Pistols. Jojo is an indie pop fan because he likes the #vibes.

I went and listened to The Borders and can agree, the song definitely fits those two, also yeah, it’s pretty crazy the team just,,, go to the same school as the people who have kidnapped and almost killed some of them💀

I also 100% agree with all your thoughts about what the characters would listen, metalhead Vanessa, Deniz and Markus🙏🙏 I would also lowkey even suggest that Raban and/or Jojo discovers Vocaloid at some point, they seem like the sort of people who would fall down that rabbit hole

He is so silly...I do love Dan Heng, he was actually my first main in HSR! I don't think I've posted much of him here though because I have literally no idea about any of the Xianzhou lore sldkjsdgsdg so bear with me lol.

I'm going to make a distinction between Dan Heng and Dan Feng here, as I think the two would have vastly different approaches to how they interact with a love interest. If we're talking about straight canon, the only thing that's changed is that Dan Heng is a yandere, then I think he's extremely subtle about it. First, because that's just his personality. Dan Heng isn't prone to histrionics; he's more practical. Second, because if he isn't, Himeko or Welt could notice, and then who knows what would happen. They might take you away from him, and he can't have that.

So he has to play it cool, keep his obsession undetectable. It shows up in small ways: how he always makes sure to be by your side during missions, even when the Trailblazer and March run off; how he lets you stay in his room whenever you'd like, even if it's just to hang out; how he holds your hand tightly whenever danger approaches, to the point where by now, your palm must be molded to the shape of his fingers. In a similar vein, he works to slowly mold your mind, doing his best to convince you that you can come to him with any problems or worries and he'll help you.

He starts making entries for you in the databank, chock full of your likes and dislikes, your habits, your routine, everything and anything. It's a strange hobby he almost seems to take pleasure in, compiling everything he knows about you. Anytime he learns something new, best believe he'll be heading off to his room to write it down and save it for later. Eventually, he starts using all of that information to his advantage: you like a certain scent? Soon enough, Dan Heng vaguely smells like it. You enjoy hugs? Dan Heng will awkwardly try to fold his arms around you back. You have a favorite food? Dan Heng makes it for you almost daily, until he's mastered it.

I will say he definitely struggles to fight against the draconic urge to hoard you away in his room. To try to tamp down that need, he develops a bad habit of stealing your belongings. Nothing big, just things you might not notice if they go missing. A piece of paper you scribble on, a pen cap that you chew on, a sock forgotten in the recesses of a dryer. He stows it away safely, somewhere nobody will ever find.

One day, he'll do the same with you. Only you'll come alone willingly.

( lots of boys are raised on farms, and they're not all Clark Kents. ) when he's fucking you on the barn couch that night, and you're digging your fingernails into his shoulders like he's gonna run away, he's babbling away in your ear, waxing poetic between moans and whimpers about how much he loves you. even when you're falling asleep that night—you're more than tuckered out after that—he's keeping himself awake mumbling to you about "all the rest of our Valentine's Days." next year, and the year after, and the year you get married, and when you have your own house, and when you have kids. what can he say? he's a forward thinking guy—you're perfectly happy to just live in this day, though
