Hi! Thank you so much for this ask! I always love discussing Illumi :)

I agree, Illumi was very eager to sacrifice himself to save Killua and the rest of his family. Despite not being aware of Nanika's rule exemptions for Killua and how Killua's wishes are risk free, Illumi believed this was a dangerous high risk situation and that casualties (in the thousands) would be inevitable. I also believe he fears what he can't control and, in his mind, thought only he could mitigate the consequences of Killua's wish, with the intention to save him, a selfess and heroic act becomes entangled with a selfish and manipulative one. It shows how his love for his family is very twisted and chilling. Here's why:

Illumi believes you sacrifice for those you love.

In a family where self preservation is everything and instilled in all members, Illumi disregarded that and was ready, without hesitation, to offer himself up as a sacrificial lamb in order for Killua to make his wish and heal Gon. He WAS going to lay down his life for his brother, (and technically for others, but family is his one and only priority) and in his mind giving his life would be the greatest and most ultimate act of love. (the parentification of Illumi Zoldyck is so strong! How dare his parents do that to him...) But also the act of sacrificing oneself to save the world is a quality belonging to a hero. (Born to be a hero, forced to be a villain lol) In that moment, he no longer mattered, his self preservation wasn't important, but a part of him would still be preserved in Killua, whom he has a strong attachment to.

Illumi believes you still love someone even after they're gone.

Illumi stated that because of his sacrifice he would 'live on in Killua's heart' but also 'Killua would suffer for the rest of his life' because of it. Killua would forever be haunted by Illumi's death. Perhaps for Illumi, to have someone be haunted by him is the same as being loved by him forever. And to haunt someone forever is the same as to love them forever. He's a manipulator, but he's also a protector (the juxtaposition is insane!) He does not fear death because he'll live on in the memories and hearts of those he loves (Illumi is such a complex character, because he's at once displaying the qualities of a hero to save and protect, but it's just so incredibly selfish, twisted, and messed up.) Love and fear are one and the same. I very much think, if this is his reasoning, how he percieves love heavily stems from how his parents treated him (and abused him) throughout his life since infancy. This boy grew up brainwashed, suffered immense trauma that was repetitve, unpredictable, and heinous. His life was a game of survival and he had to find a way for him to live, and perhaps he found that way through his brothers.

He's been through alot and because of them he can still smile.

(I know this is from Hisoka's mental toybox, but I just think it's so cute!!!❤️)

I feel like he would remind people that he could have ended up alot worse (lies, he's already there O_O) and he'll tell them so they appreciate it and not push his buttons lol He needs therapy, cuddles, and so much love that isn't conditional (there was no unconditional love in the zoldyck household, which is why sacrificing himself is his ultimate act of love BECAUSE for him to get love he had to earn it from his parents. What could he do to recieve love and approval and praise and everything that felt good in an otherwise awful life? Behaviors that all enabled him to receive love became reinforced and are now ingrained within him. His love langauge is probably acts of service (ngl he's hungry for all the love languages) But him throwing away his life for Killua was him also saying 'this is how much I love you and how much I will always love you. Forever. My love for you is forever.'

I am in tears, I am in shambles, I am heartbroken! Illumi needs to be spoiled! ❤️

(To be honest I kinda wish you’d swapped the specifications on these two, as I’ve got plenty to say about overrated Gundam characters and a fair bit to say about underrated RWBY characters, but not all that much to say about underrated Gundam characters lol)

22: Popular character you hate? - Taiyang Xiao Long. Specifically the popular interpretation of him being any kind of actually ‘good’ dad. I do think that Tai is going to turn out to be a very interesting and complex character, just in the same way that Qrow, Ozpin and Ironwood turned out to be really interesting. In Tai’s case, a very complex and nuanced exploration of an extremely dysfunctional, neglectful, and even emotionally abusive, total fuckup of a father. But it sure as hell isn’t going to be the interpretation that much of the fandom has headcanon’d him into over the years.

23: Unpopular character you love? - Okay I imagine this is stretching the definition of ‘character’ a fair bit, but fuck it. The ZAFT Mobile Suit designs of Gundam SEED Destiny aren’t nearly as bad as people have complained in terms of the long-cited ‘they just copied Zeon MSs’ reasoning. Now, are the original SEED designs still much better and more original? Absolutely. But I still think the Destiny MSs still have some interesting original ideas.

Like yes, the ZAFT Zaku on its own is basically a copy-pasted Universal Century Zaku. But, once you give it one of those various Silhouette equipment packs they do actually having an identity of their own. Even just the three basic packs really don’t look like anything we ever saw on a Zeon Zaku. And it helps even further that we pretty much only see the ZAFT Zakus with those equipment packs. Heck, I think the ZAFT Gelgoog in SEED Freedom actually looks pretty damn cool.

The ACTUAL problem is simply the fact that the Destiny writing/production team just started straight up giving these new ZAFT MSs the same names as the Zeon ones. I guarantee you that if the creative team had named these suits LITERALLY ANYTHING other than ‘Zaku’, ‘Gouf’, ‘Gelgoog’, etc. people wouldn’t have had nearly as much of a problem with them.

Hey, I have some questions about this guy, because you said he plays the lute sometimes and I am a huge music nerd.

So, music-wise, what does he prefer? Loud, soft, fast, slow, high, or low? Would he rather dance a waltz or the tango? Would he tonally prefer the sound of a recorder or a shawm?(Renaissance era oboe) And how much would he move as he plays or listens to music?(ranging from tapping toes to full on dancing)

I don't know what time he's from, but if he plays the lute the music he's accustomed to is nearly guaranteed to be similar to the music of the Renaissance, and I guess I was wondering if Susato's music would match his vibe, or if he'd prefer the music of a different composer. (Susato is the only Renaissance composer I really know, guess I'm not that much of a music nerd)

WOOOO!! That's a lot of questions l!! Ok ok I'll try my best to answer this!!

Alright so HE specifically doesn't play the lute, his friend does, this guy just really likes it! And, well, imagine your little brother borrowing your guitar or ukulele and messing around with it. That's what he usually does XD, although he's trying to learn from the other guy, he's a beginner!

As for the music he'd like, definitely something fast and loud!! I think he likes dancing, so something happy and quick is definitely his style!! But I'm sure he can appreciate the calming rhythm of something slower too... I'm not much of a music nerd, so some of the stuff you mentioned I'm not really familiar with. But I love classical music, so I'd say something like Waltz of the Flowers, Flight of the Bumblebee or the Can Can would hit the spot!!

I think he'd prefer tango, but he's still a kid so I think he'd rather boogie it down alone! I listened to both the recorder and shawm and would say the recorder would be more his thing, sounds more natural. He wouldn't know the difference between a lot of music or their composers, just that it made him feel something good. That's what he wants when listening to something!

I don't have a specific time his world is set in, it's a whole other universe! But yeah, I'd like to think around the Renaissance, more Middle Ages and the time of Knights and Kings, when Legends of Camelot were told...

Hi! I wanted to ask, from the characthers You have draw, what was the process in making their designs like with cpunz's? I'm really curious bc they all look really cool :D

Ooo yea I would love to talk about him and my design process. In fact, here is the 100 hours of me making Punz [post] reduced to 30 seconds (apologies for the part you can’t tell what I’m doing I like to work with no background a lot which defaults to black apparently.)

So as you can see, because I am not that good of an artist I use a lot of references mostly trying for real photos versus other people's art. I'll trace different elements from them and then change and alter, just so that I have a starting place, scale and general shape. I also use a shit ton of layers, laying different textures on top of each other as well as colors and such. As you can also tell I change my mind a lot but the foundation of the design was because it doesn’t feel right for these characters to be swinging around swords and fighting wars and such while just wearing hoodies. Like if this was a tv show that doesn’t really fit the vibe. Plus I made Dream look really epic [art] so for Punz I wanted to do the same thing so he can look like the bad ass necromancer mercenary he is with more of an assassin knight vibe than a comfy gamer lol.

So just like with Dream, all of the elements of his skin are included in the drawing in one way or another, as well as Minecraft, skin and real life colors. His hoodie is now a white cloak, the stripes on the side of his hoodie are now stripes on the armor plate, his gold metal is now the gold pendant for his cloak and he is just wearing ripped black pants because that’s cool and I didn’t feel the need to change that :D 

One of biggest changes I made is background. I originally drew him much further away from the portal but the perspective wasn’t right so I ended up moving him to right in front of it with the portal magic like blowing his cape a bit.  I also was going to try and do the redstone lamps but I couldn't get it to look right and I realized it would make my highlighting process super annoying so I settled for some marble tiles.

Originally, I was going to make his metal one of the gold chains [right image] you see on medieval priests or the queen in GOT, but decided that was hard to show with the sword and took away the space I had to do armor details. Additionally, on his skin his hands and boots are also white, so I did white boots and was planning on him wearing white gloves [middle image], but I also wanted him to look really rich and liked the look of all the rings so decided against the gloves because it looked weird. (btw as you can tell from my recent art [art], I have improved on drawing hands quite a bit since this artwork :D). His skin shirt is also all white but I thought it’d look cool if his clothes where like white and blue gradients [middle image], not that you can really tell once all the shading happens lol. His is armor changed quite a bit too, because at some point I was going to make it kinda honeycombish [left image] (because Dream had a snake theme so I felt like Punz should have a theme too, hence bees) but that ended up being too busy and I didn’t like how that would be so complex versus Dream’s more simple looking armor. 

Like I wanted them to exist in the same world so even the way and colors I did the armor in the Dream drawing I did in this one. Because, that was the main reason I made him, so there could be a badass looking Punz to go with my badass looking Dream. :)... thinking about doing a badass looking Techno too but we'll see.

We're going to start with the basics this month: Where did your Sidestep get your name? Do they know what it means? Do they feel any particular way about their name?

I had to hold off on this til I revealed my second sidestep cuz I have no idea how to answer this one for Corey yet lmao. so yeah here's some Chase lore

Chase is her regene name! Her role on missions was essentially stalking/tracking targets that knew they were being hunted and thus were being really evasive and hard to reach, and she took her job WAY too seriously. Unlike Corey, who was infamous for being a defiant shithead towards their handlers, she was known for being teacher's pet and always on her best behavior. So the other regenes she worked with on missions started referring to her by her job title as a not-so-subtle dig at how single minded she was about it. a sort of "this Ken's job is beach" joke

She knows they meant it mockingly, but she embraced it and still loves her name/wears it like a badge of honor. Shes proud of her past accomplishments (even if there was a brief sidestep era "oh god what have i done" phase). There was no hesitation about using that as her name when Ortega asked her for one.

She chose her last name after a conversation she had with Julia about tia Elena/ her choosing to go by Ortega. For better or worse, she viewed the director through a familial lens, so choosing "Siepen" as a surname was both a power move and a way of deflecting blame for her problems onto her. Very much a "you made me/raised me to be like this so if you dont like it, its your fault" sort of vibe.

Random Drabble - Rock Musician AU has me VERY intrigued :)

Hiii and thank you for your kind ask @ultrarebelheart/@illegalcerebral! <3 This is in response to this WIP Game.

It's an Adar/Celebrimbor (silverscars) Modern!AU oneshot, with Celebrimbor as an A&R rep for a music label and Adar as the lead singer of a band Celebrimbor wants to acquire for the label.

Fun fact: I started this one-shot, got distracted by my current multi-chapter fic, and continued it about 4-5 weeks later, something I haven't done very often before.

Second fun fact: What this was meant to be was a small PWP one-shot. What it ended up being - so far, since I haven't gotten around to editing it yet - is an incredibly long PWP one-shot. Oops?

And of course I can share a small snippet as well, hope you like it! :D

And then there was Adar himself; with his dark, long hair, scarred body, the way his top clung to his torso and how his all-black clothes complemented his pale skin, he cut a striking figure already – and he had the attractive face to match it –, but this guy also had a stage presence that could rival the best of the business.

He appeared self-assured, smug even, in his performance, but there was also a fragility underneath, a sense of vulnerability that Celebrimbor could not deny was intensely alluring. All this drenched in an inherent sensuality that permeated every single performance, be it an aggressive song that spoke of rebellion, a ballad grieving the mistakes of the past, or indeed a song that spoke of romance and of unfulfilled desire coupled with a need for beauty and companionship.

By the end of the performance, Celebrimbor had understood both the appeal of the band itself and the reason why Gil-Galad had sent him out here to try and win them over. This group was almost guaranteed to make it big one day, as they had a real talent that could be harnessed, encouraged and improved upon.

In your opinion what are the most important areas F1 needs to work on to be more inclusive to omega drivers? ~ Luci

Ah a very serious matter, and one I am passionate about.

First off, I believe stewards and FiA officials should receive training in reading omega body language and how to properly accommodate non-disruptive behaviors. Currently the only training they receive of this sort is for conflict de-escalation between alphas (and the fact that alpha ‘accommodations’ are focused almost solely on their potential for aggression is a whole other rant I could go on but will not here). Better awareness of omega non-verbal cues is badly needed, and we got yet another clear demonstration of this after quali in Jeddah. As you yourself said, it was incredibly distressing to witness Charles being dragged away from Max like that, and all for what? To make sure the schedule was adhered to? To keep up the laughable facade that Max and Charles aren’t bonded just because they haven’t spelled it out on instagram yet? Charles was clearly so upset by it, and Max was visibly distressed about it too! Yet the official seemed to have no concept at all of what he was doing beyond ‘come on silly omega, you’re holding things up and need to be elsewhere’.

This actually brings me to my next point - the blanket ban on publicly visible scenting in the paddock is atrocious, explicitly anti-omega, and should be done away with.

As we all know, scenting, especially casual light scenting, is such an integral part of omega social interaction, hormonal/instinct regulation, and emotional well-being. (It is of course important for alphas too, but again, that’s another discussion). Using this latest incident with Charles as an example again, both he and his bonded mate had just performed incredibly well in front of thousands of people, of *course* he would be keyed up and his instincts would be screaming at him to reenforce their bond after that. Just a light scenting to calm his instincts and Charles would have been settled and ready to move on to the next thing, but because of the ban he couldn’t do that and instead had to resort to more extended proximity and eye-contact to settle himself enough to comfortably leave Max’s side (which then of course also got interrupted because anti-omega bias is systemic in F1 just like it is in many other settings)

Yes I do acknowledge that there have been instances in the past of scenting being arguably taken too far for a professional setting, but anything that crossed the line could be covered just fine under the injunctions against disruptive behaviors. Even in countries with strict ‘decency laws’ the FiA could, if they cared to, easily provide a space for omega drivers to step aside for a moment to quickly and discreetly scent with a mate or pack member as needed. (And before the ‘Alpha Rights’ crowd starts whingeing about this being somehow unfair - yes of course this should be available for alphas to use as well if they want to!)

I have even more thoughts (like how the restrictions on nesting in drivers rooms in the name of ‘professionalism and preventing unfair advantage’ are both infuriating and archaic), but this answer is already fairly long so I’ll leave it off here for now.
