18. there are ! some are more sensetive to colors/lights, some like certain foods while others dont (the siffrins absolutely despise instant ramen, while others enjoy it; neo holds the most spice tolerance in the system; nova is the only one who likes tomatoes; lilith and 2im can Not stand the taste of onions and the energy drink we usually buy. and so on) we also apparently have different tolerance to lactose? haven't really figured who has the most/who has the least but our reaction to milk/ice cream/cheese does depend on who's fronting

24. it's okay to not know who's fronting. it's okay to not know your origin. you will figure out everything in time, no need to rush it.

So, admittedly, I don't have much. It was very much an idea created where I had very little except from what I initially wrote out.

Though, tbh, that's how a lot of my AUs start out.

I wrote out some vague ideas when I wrote the snippet for December though 💖

So, I think the beginning of the AU is focused quite a bit on injury recovery going on. Capsize in this AU was never on the verge of death, but she was very heavily injured by Dianite and Furia then thrown over the edge of Aethoria into the void.

When Martha finds her, she isn't in the best way and does take a little while to recover to full strength. This links into the headcanon I've had for a while that Martha is a healer. This was stolen from another post I saw one time that it would've made sense for Martha to be a healer with her pacifism and since I already had an OC that's a pacifist healer, obviously I grabbed that wholeheartedly.

Like then I think there's a lot of growing closer from being interested in the worlds the other comes from.

Cause Capsize is in brand new world full of magic and creatures that she's never even conceived of before and as much as it's overwhelming, Capsize is so happy to have new things to explore especially now she doesn't have a pressing mission. So she's quite full of questions for Martha and I do fully think that Martha is so happy to have someone happy and wanting to listen to her.

And Martha I've always thought of as somewhat of an anthropologist. My headcanon for her is that she was a travelling hearer who went around to find magically caused injuries, diseases, and curses and cure them. To improve her methods of doing so, she’s been learning as much magic from different places she visits as possible (both to learn better cures and to help others avoid the magic that have led to disasters in the first place). So, I do think that Martha is innately quite curious about Capsize's culture since - as much as there are similarities between (Spark's) Dangrun and Ianerea, there's more than enough differences to get Martha curious and, again, like Martha, Capsize has been not listened to enough by this point she's probably just happy to have someone that wants to listen to her.

I'm not even quite sure if they notice how close they're growing at first. Martha's always quite flirty, and while it isn't Capsize's default, I think she'd match the energy. But they are so, so close to each other by the time they meet the others.

Like I can imagine Capsize and Martha on the airship when it's still one night and just talking about their lives as they watch like shooting stars. I think both of them have gotten to a point of a lot of self-doubt about their place in the world by the time they meet and they can help the other through that.

I don't have too much for when they join the others (mostly because I realised, I have no idea what would've happened to Red in this AU, and I think that's important to realise before planning any of the larger group stuff).

But I definitely think the larger group stuff is when their relationship would get properly established (regardless of what Jordan and Steve want). And I think there would be a lot of interesting stuff to be had with Martha's quest to be a goddess because

a) Fun with Martha's nightmares, since Wag and Steve dying was apart of the original so Capsize dying angst is pretty easy to slot in

b) I'm not precisely sure how Capsize would react to this but I don't think she'd be as onboard with just going along with it as Jordan and Tucker. I'm not entirely sure how to define how Capsize would react though.

Then I also think there's some not quite tension, but like a lingering question that neither wants to confront that if Capsize is aiming to go home and Martha is aiming to save Ruxomar then eventually they will leave each other. So, like, a little bit of an angsty undertone going on too.

hbomberguy’s latest video on plagiarism has made me completely rethink literature and writing. I have never once so much as considered intentionally plagiarizing anyone or anything, but I think there’s something more that has come out of this: the names of the people who created the works Somerton (and others) ripped off.

Plagiarism isn’t only bad because it is lazy and disrespectful, it’s bad because it buries the truth. If you can’t find a source, the conversation is over. Somerton’s sources are fairly easy to find by simply searching his plagiarized lines, but that isn’t true in most cases. Most of the time, the line from statement to source is a lot less clear.

Today, I was writing a report on English Ivy, which is an invasive species here in the US. I wanted to know when it was introduced and I at last found a source claiming it was introduced to the Americas “as early as 1727” on a .net website that seems quite reputable (it has multiple major universities credited in its home page), but there is no citation for where this date came from. I dug deeper and found a pamphlet created by a city government in Virginia that made the same claim, only to discover the first source linked in their bibliography. Another website (a botanical garden’s page) gave the same date with the same source hyperlinked. Of course, I have classes to attend and things to do and probably not enough time to follow the lines back to where this 1727 date came from, but if I had not just watched this video, I wouldn’t have given that date a second thought.

Of course, it doesn’t matter in the long run exactly what year hedera helix was introduced to the Americas, but it makes you wonder how many facts have been so vaguely attributed that it becomes completely impossible to figure out where they originated (and further, whether or not they’re true at all).

I have a soft spot for ‘creature feature’ films. In about any film that features ‘big aggressive monster’ you will usually see two types of characters; big corp. wanting the monster for their own nefarious purposes and military trying to save the day.

Jurassic Park which has InGen being horrifically unethical to both the dinosaurs they made and their employees, not to mention the whole “bringing back” dinosaurs for entertainment and money.

The Bay, where people got heavily infected out of seemingly nowhere, when in actuality the town was warned beforehand and then suffered the consequences from that ignorance.

Await Further Instructions, where a family literally just listens and does as their tv says.

Any movie where you have a final girl!!! fucking the original black christmas?!? CARRIE!!! movies love to say things, especially horror movies.

OMG absolutely no issue with you rambling about movies for a bit! I did A-Level media back in college and it just absolutely sparked an absolute love for film (and particularly like analysing film).

Like you can absolutely can ramble forever about films to me.

Jurassic Park is about the only creature feature type film I've actually watched - but my god do I love Jurassic Park. I honestly just kinda love dinosaurs and I know the ones in the films don't look how they would've actually but I still love Velociraptors and how they are in the film :3

I 100% completed the game last year, which was very fun to do while only half remembering the points of the second and third films.

Jurassic Park is also one I love comparing to the book. Like the book just has so much more on unethical InGen is. And the deaths of Nedry and Hammond in the book are so damn good that I wish I had a copy so I could use them as references for my own writing.

The Bay and Await Further Instructions are both films I've only seen in like videos that reference them but yes they are so damn political because... There's just something about horror that lets you especially have metaphor be obvious and overt because it's also a literal monster.

As they said in Ride the Cyclone:

They got the Saw movie wrong as they are talking about Saw VI but like there is a point there that even one of the films that most people would reach to and say "that's a sequel literally made for cash in a series about gross kills" and it HAS a lesson.

And, I'm gonna be honest, people can and will fish meaning out of anything. I have experienced this in my own writing where people have found metaphors or foreshadowing I did not plan. And this applies doubly to making films.

Using the final girl example. For example, in Halloween John Carpenter and Debra Hill didn't intent to create the sex = death trope that rose after Halloween came out. The horny teens were killed as they were distracted rather than because pre-marital sex was immoral but that was the reading anyway and it gave rise to a trope so common it was a joke in Scream.

And if I'm being completely honestly, I don't know why you would want to create a film or any story for that matter that doesn't have meaning behind it? Like it seems like such a strange thing to brag about when like I basically just write fanfiction and create OCs but I choose details with intention and am so damn happy when people find ideas I didn't realise were there.
