ok. yay! let's talk about jason todd autopsy scars.

WARNING: pretty thorough description of an autopsy ahead. if you don't like cut up bodies this one isn't for you.

prefacing this by saying i am not in any way a field expert in any of this, just a guy with really morbid autism and a pretty objectively concerning collection of nonfiction on the subject. i may be wrong about things! i did not crack open the books for my stupid little tumblr post (this time). people with actual experience feel free to correct me.

if jason had had a thorough autopsy performed on him, he would not come back to life* and also probably bruce wayne would go to jail.

*or at least come back with scars from it. more on that later!

if an autopsy was performed it would have to be by someone who knew about batman because robin's scars are pretty difficult to explain. it would be pretty easy to bypass an official autopsy, jason was blown up, his cause of death is not exactly a mystery.

bruce wayne might be the kind of guy who's so obsessive he needs to know exactly which event actually killed jason (if the crowbar killed him, batman couldn't have gotten there in time. if the smoke killed him....). but maybe he also wouldn't want to know for the same reason.

the most important thing is that we know jason had massive head trauma. if you were trying to figure out which of the many terrible things that happened to him was the one that killed him, you'd want to take a look at the brain.

and guys, i don't know if you know this, but the brain only holds its shape because it's inside your skull. the human brain is the consistency of silken tofu. once it's out of your head, it's not going back in.

this is inconvenient for coroners, so they'll probably spend several days soaking jason's brain in a chemical concoction designed to make it firm up. once they do that, it's time to dissect it.

but the fun doesn't end there! once they're done, if they don't just dispose of the brain separately, they're still not going to go through the trouble if wrangling it back into jason's cranium (now open on top, like an egg cup). it goes in the organ bag!

did i forget to mention the organ bag? look, they're not going to put all of his wet organs back into his chest cavity. he's already rapidly decaying. if bruce wayne gets his son back and he's leaking there'll be hell to pay.

so all the organs, which at this point have also been cut into little pieces to study, get jumbled together in a plastic bag. that they do stick back into the kind of gaping hole that the organs vacated. then they stick the ribs back in place (they were sawed off, at the beginning, to gain entry to the organs).

and honestly? without the brain in the mix i can almost believe it. i guess if jason had a really shitty autopsy courtesy of gotham's overcrowded underfunded mortuary? i mean more people who write jason resurrection fic should have to think about the organ bag, and what happens to it. would it just sort of glorp out of him while his organs wiggle themselves back into place? one day i will write my funeral industry accurate jason todd resurrection fic and it will make everyone sad and uncomfortable.

but i guess my thesis statement is that i think it would be really hard to come back to life if your brain was in 7-14 pieces inside a plastic bag where your stomach used to be.

the most likely way for the resurrection to work, in that case, would be to restore his body to its state directly before death, which does unfortunately predate his autopsy.

so what this post is saying is that jason probably wouldn't have had an autopsy, but even if he did, he wouldn't have the scars to show for it.

now, the idea that they're vivisection scars and ra's al ghul was poking around in there? i like that a lot

HOWEVER i will instead go into a bit more detail on his food preferences - he really likes seafood especially mussels and scallops + red meat whenever he can get it (slightly more expensive). he will also eat things that he doesnt actually like and pretend to enjoy it if its food thats considered "fancy" or associated with the upper class such as caviar, pineapples etc. he absolutely hates sweets and pastries especially anything with honey in it, honey makes him throw up. he also drinks ridiculous amounts of tea for the caffeine (he doesnt sleep enough, as mentioned previously), and sometimes to substitute for a hot meal if he's too busy to take a break/low on money. mostly he eats what would be considered typical peasant food, cheap and abundant stuff like eel, horse and rat meat, but he also has been known to steal better quality fare from the palace kitchens.

in contrast to what josiana says, sometimes barki does get rewarded for a good joke by clarence literally throwing him a scrap of whatever Royal Delicacy he happens to be eating. at first barki found this horribly demeaning but he quickly learned to be okay with it. now and then he even gets a glass of champagne out of it.

hiiii im op and i just have to say like. the reason your friend sent my comic is actually the exact opposite of what i was trying to convey in it LMAOOO. I sort of talk about it in my original tags, but i want to go deeper into my thoughts on iterators and iterator godhood more since i have quite a lot to say on the matter. forgive me for taking your tags as a springboard 💚.

one of the things i really wanted to drive home in the comic was how iterators are in no way godlike, no matter what they might think. they might be have the knowledge to wave away an entire language into your mind or modify organisms to morphologically unrecognizable degrees which on paper seems like a godlike power, but its only as godlike as we are compared to other organisms. We are capable of construction and creation to unfathomable degrees in the eyes of other animals, but i dont think anyone would reasonably say we are all divine. There are other animals better at different stuff than us-- ants can communicate with one another soundlessly, cheetahs can easily outpace us, elephants can easily overpower us. etc. We are not an all-encompassing divinity, we are highly specialized at what we do. Iterators are incredible minds that allow incredible abilities that were relied upon by their creators, but they're helpless outside of this specialization (see 5 pebbles unable to stop something as mindless and simple as the rot. all it does is consume, and no amount of understanding will stop its spread). it reminds me of a lesson common in modern ecology: there is no such thing as a more 'advanced' organism, only specialized ones. It basically means to reject the notion that any organism is better than another in an absolute sense, as if there is somehow a 'perfect' organism evolution works towards. Things can be better they others in a relative sense (ie. competition), but there is no One True Best Creature-- something that is the best in one niche would crumble in another.

As well, iterators are not only not above instinct (as i showed in the comic), but also in being a part of the ecosystem in general. All of them are going to die off and essentially go extinct specifically because of the loss of their symbionts (the ancients), just like we would if our gut microbiome decided to peace out. Personally, i view iterators as giant symbiotic ecosystems themselves, made up of a million different microbes with specialized purposes designed to keep the environment (the iterator themselves) in homeostasis. it's literally in the area name: 5Pebbles is not a character, but an entire location that has food and predators and prey for the slugcat just as any other area, its just that every part of that area is a part of a larger collaborative organism.

Pebbles says he struggles to accept being a bug. And if he realized it went even deeper-- that he was not a bug, but the product of many, many bugs, that something as stupid and simple as a bug could work together to create something as complex and divine as him, well... I think this is as far from divinity as you can get.

This is sort of an extension of spamlets-blog's tag on hubris being a human emotion (SO TRUE BESTIE), BUT When you can think to such a complex degree (whether human or iterator, though i get iterators are capable of much more insane feats of processinglol), its easy to call yourself a god. especially when the only other creatures near you are wild animals. People irl do it all the time, though not to such an extreme. think of any time someone gets upset when you mention that humans are animals too-- its like an insult to them to be lumped in with the mangy animals and wild beasts. but regardless of what you think or how high you hold yourself or what your purpose is, we all play a part in our ecosystems. this is a humbling thing, but certainly not a bad one.

as an entomologist, trust me when i say the world really opens up when you learn to appreciate even the most minute parts of the environment (even in manmade enviroments!) your whole world becomes a lot more colourful when youre able to view these things as tiny pieces all supporting the world as we know it as opposed to just a nuisance. pebbles is still in very very deep into his self-identified godhood, and insists that everything distracting him from his divine purpose is a nuisance, even if it would make him happy to forget his purpose for a minute and just indulge himself. Best example i have of this is in arti's route, where you can see hes so into reading pearls that have anthropological value and will not shut up about them and has to constantly remind himself that the pearls are a distraction and arti is a nuisance etc etc etc. his self-imposed divinity literally saps his happiness away, and his stubbornness in revering the holy act of dying will steal away any joys his life could have. ironically, by following their base instincts, every other organism understands this far better than he does. and if knowledge is truly what we measure divinity as, everyone except for pebbles is a god.

Oh! I forgot about the wyverns! have you talked about their diets before? two specific questions, Is their diet very restricted, or can they have a wide range of foods? Also, are there any species-wide unusual meals?

I think I've talked briefly about diets!

Wyverns are omnivorous and tolerant of a lot of the toxins common prey species on their planet have developed. The bulk of their diet is made up of small-medium sized invertebrates, which are usually eaten whole (sort of like we eat lobsters) and raw or seared (to make them brittle and crunchy instead of just hard to bite into.) They also eat a variety of fruits and plant materials, but its not a HUGE part of their diets. I'd consider raw bugs pretty unusual!

Basilisks are obligate carnivores and need at least 70% meat in their diet. They're largely scavengers, eating carrion and decomposing material, but some communities follow prey species or farm them for easier access to meat. They can eat pretty much anything that isn't inherently toxic to them- they're basically natural garbage disposals that will eat anything from well-cooked and seasoned meat to the internal shell "bones" of whatever died on the surface of the planet last. Basilisks have a near-universal cultural idea that food is a commodity that one should be thankful for no matter what it is, so generally any food is good food to someone raised by Basilisks.

5 : what is your muse’s ideal first date?

Generally speaking, if she's elected to go on an "official" date with someone that isn't just a whim, it's because she cares for them incredibly deeply — and she'll want the date to reflect that. She pays a great deal of attention to the people she cares about, both due to her lengthy training as an assassin and also because she's determined to be a damn good gift-giver. Whether they're the outgoing and adventurous type or the more introverted, intimate-dinner-in-highly-romantic-setting type, she'll plan accordingly.

She has her own wants, of course — she loves chocolate and champagne, she's always longing to take in a good opera or concert, books are her first and final love — but when she thinks about an ideal date, all she really cares about is whether or not the person she's with is smiling by the end of it.

13 : what traits does your muse value in a romantic partner?

Aelin tends to gravitate toward those that can buoy her, and preferably challenge her in some way. She's strong-willed, fiercely protective to a fault, and quick to put up a petty, flippant façade when she feels she needs to be on high alert. Which, considering the way this island works, is a majority of the time around a majority of people. She's attracted to those that can see through her bullshit, or at least aren't quick to dismiss or comply. All of her past romantic relationships have been with men she butted heads with constantly in the beginning. Perhaps that's half because she likes to keep things interesting and half because she felt she could rely on their honest opinions about her and her decisions.

Honesty and loyalty are very, very important to her— it can break a relationship no matter how deep her love goes. As such, communication is key... but she's also the type to withdraw and undervalue herself if left to her own devices, so it's all the more important that she feels they're approachable.

Despite her background, Aelin is incredibly kind and compassionate at her core, so she wants the same from her partner. But probably the most important thing is that there's safety and support there. This might also be why she has a tendency to go from hate to friendship, and then to love; they've seen the worst of her and grown to appreciate her regardless, and vice versa, so it's that much easier to be vulnerable with them.

23 : would your muse be good at recognizing their partner’s needs right away, or would it take some time?

As mentioned, she tends to be highly observant in general, and especially with her partner. Some of this is due to her demi-fae nature, as fae become incredibly attuned to those they become romantically involved with — whether it's their ultimate mate or not. That said, she's not omniscient and can sometimes be clouded by her own stress and anxieties; it's all too easy for her to get wrapped up in a stressor or problem and plan a good ten steps ahead only to miss the signs of distress in those around her. She's equally prone to making assumptions due to her own less-than-stellar opinions of herself, and can sometimes convince herself that she's the problem long before she can even think of just asking. So... it depends !

when you're just lazing around - reading a book, playing a video game - he's always next to you. always. maybe every once in a while he decides to take a nap, belly up, paws kind of folded and oh, he looks adorable like that. he's just a big kitty okay. btw he's always touching you. clingyclingyclingy. even when he's sleeping, he has to be touching you in some way.

SUGGESTIVE! gets upset when you come home and you have other smells on you. especially other mens' smells. maybe your co-worker hugged you goodbye or something and now his cologne sticks to your skin and satoru can't have that. he's just immediately pawing at you - begging for your attention and when you grant him that, he's jumping on you, pushing you down and licking over whereever the stench is. after he deems you clean, he just rubs himself against you - his way of marking you. you don't know that though... you just think he really missed you...... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
