Shen Qingqiu during the coffin scene: I know it may look like I'm kissing Binghe's forehead from a certain angle!! but the truth is I am only hiding his demon mark. With my lips. Because that's currently the easiest way to do that. Definitely. There is definitely no other way to hide it. Nope. I am simply protecting him from harm. I am not kissing him. Nope, nope. No kissing here. I am only doing my duty as his Shizun. No gay forehead kissing here! Nope!! Look away!!

Propaganda:
Harrow and Gideon; the power imbalance and pining and inability to communicate and understand each other and oh god the pining they just want to be loved and they're so bad at it
Juri and Shiori: They both love eachother right but shiori is insecure and has comphet and hates juri for being better than her!! It was confirmed in the original dialogue and by the series creator that Shiori does return Juri's feelings, but was antagonistic towards to her because she held Juri in such high regard that when she found out that Juri loved her it made Shiori feel powerful and on more equal ground with Juri than she initially thought, so she tried to maintain that power in the hopes of having Juri to herself
Louis and Lestat: In the original book Lestat literally turns a 5 year old little girl into a vampire to trap Louis in their loveless, abusive relationship, because he knows Louis will worry about Lestat (whom Louis now recognizes as a remorseless monster who sees humans as nothing but food) using this child (Claudia) as a tool and creating the most evil and messed up surrogate child of all time. (He was right, btw, bc she grows into a woman trapped forever in a child's body and hates them both for it. but this isn't about Claudia.)
In the TV series, Lestat is a white devil offering aid, sympathy, and love to a gay, closeted black man in the 1900s. He offers him company, capital, a friend who sees him as an 'equal' Once he turns him into a vampire, his desire to possess and control Louis becomes apparent. He displays TEXTBOOK narcissistic and abusive partner behaviors, apologies for how awful he was, promises to change, makes romantic gestures to try and smooth things over. They start having an 'open relationship' where Lestat loses it over Louis taking advantage of being able to see other people. Lestat writes a love song for him and sends Louis a recording sung by the woman he's having an affair with; Louis confronts him at the singer's apartment and they have angry sex in her bed.
Late in the TV series, they get in another fight, and Lestat literally drops Louis out of the sky and leaves him paralyzed, with Claudia (in this adaptation, a young woman who is more like a sister/mother to Louis) to nurse him back to health and re-teach him how to walk. Louis still takes him back.
In both the book and the TV series, Claudia convinces Louis that the only way they can be free is to kill Lestat. In both, they poison him, slit his throat, and dump his body in a swamp. In the TV version, Louis sobs over Lestat's dead body, refusing to allow Claudia to burn him and ensure he can't come back from it. (Spoilers: he gets better. and he's pissed about it! He follows them to Europe.) Their gay divorce drama eventually results in the destruction of an entire enclave of over 400 vampires in Paris and the death of their surrogate daughter.

danny is so happy about his best guy bro potentially getting married...oh, wait...
Tumblr media
he's not.
considering danny is a detective and a professional at keeping secrets it makes no sense that he would suddenly be unable to wait to spill the beans. therefore my theory is that danny was hoping that someone else (like lou, maybe) would tell steve what a dumb idea it is to propose to someone just because it's 'the next logical step'.
unfortunately for danny, it backfired and everyone else was supportive, ironically it also pushed steve further towards that ill-advised decision which brings us to steve's reaction ↓
Tumblr media
that does not look like the face of someone happily in love who wants to shout about his love from rooftops.
if it had been such happy news steve would be unable to contain it himself, but instead he's feeling annoyed and even somewhat betrayed by danny.
by telling danny about his plans first steve was clearly hoping danny would object (perhaps because he had feelings for him), but not only was danny weirdly enthusiastic about him proposing to cath (which should have been his clue, when had danny not ever been doom and gloom about marriage?) but by telling everyone else about his tentative plans, danny locked him in, trapped him in this decision because now he couldn't change his mind because it would look like he chickened out.
the biggest clue towards steve's real feelings on the matter is that when talking about the reason he has to do it, he doesn't say it's because he loves her, nope, he just says 'it's been a long time coming' which makes it sound like an obligation, a box he has to tick off, this is textbook steve mcgarrett doing what he's supposed to do, what's expected of him, and not what he wants. comphet in action if I've ever seen one.
it's just another mission he has to complete, nowhere love is a motivating factor. compare this to danny's proposal story where he had proposed with a soda can ring because he couldn't wait....
this entire thing was a cluster fuck from the beginning and both steve and danny backed themselves into a corner. no wonder steve was grasping at straws for a reason not to propose just two episodes later. his heart was never in it to begin with.

I'm actually quite glad that people are talking abt the bare-faced misogyny of "in real life transmascs and transfems are sucking and fucking," because I've been talking abt that in relation to bi women for a while now and it feels like people love ignoring that shit. If a bisexual person, but especially a woman, levies any sort of criticism against, like, the comphet masterdoc or something, it's all "omg go outside touch grass stop infighting. In real life lesbians and bi women are kissing!!!!" Bi women, like trans women, are seen by others as more sexually available, and their (our?) worth is predicated primarily on whether or not they (we?) perform some level of sexuality appropriately. A bi woman is only worth anything if you have a feasible chance to fuck her. "Stop complaining and go outside and have sex, that'll make you stop being such a bitch" is, like, textbook misogyny, it's an antifeminism staple, but apparently once you change it to "gay sex" or something it's fine. Lmao

Well, well, well, if it isn't that most wonderful time of year once more. Happy pride, everyone! Time for my little tradition of self-indulgent queer media analysis every couple days! In previous years I've done characters, stories/media properties, and ships. This year my theme is gonna be head-canons and why I have them!
So, without further ado, first up is...
Tumblr media
Ingrid Brandl Galatea from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, who I like to read as a lesbian.
Ingrid's an interesting case for a few reasons. First pf all: there's several canon and/or heavily implied sapphic and other queer relationships that can happen in a given run of this game, both for the player and the other characters through supports and epilogues. Ingrid, in fact, is one of (if not THE) only characters to have zero A-level supports with characters of the same gender.
Despite all of this, however, she has a paralogue where Dorothea, known bisexual queen with a particular weakness for beautiful and/or strong ladies, goes out of her way to help prevent Ingrid's arranged marriage to a scumbag of a dude. In this paralogue, Dorothea refers to Ingrid as "my Ingrid" and sees Ingrid's later gift to her of a ring as a proposal she'd happily accept, albeit with some degree of sarcasm, but not as much as I'd have thought.
Their supports, you ask? Those center on Ingrid overreacting to Dorothea's advances with surprise and a kind of disgust that feels very... "comphet-fueled projecting of insecurities" to me. In a sensible world, I'd say, we should get and A support between those two in which Ingrid apologizes for her reaction before and explains that she's never really thought women could see each other that way before. The cutoff at B level feels downright unfinished compared to other B capstone supports. It feels very much like act 2 of 3, but then we never get three. There are bits and pieces from other parts of the game that I could point to and make a case with that Ingrid likes girls and just doesn't know how to handle that, but how she interacts with Dorothea is the most revealing, I think.
Additionally, this is a girl who has been told for years that she must marry a wealthy man for the sake of her family's future. She has never really considered her feelings in a romantic context before because she has never been allowed to. Is it any wonder, then, that this girl who loves other girls would practically implode the moment she had a scrap of room to realize that and think about what it means?
Ingrid is, in my humble opinion, a textbook example of a comphet character who's never had an official chance to unpack that. She's full of potential in this regard, but, unfortunately, it's never tapped in her home game.

can it still be comphet if i actually wanted to date him? i thought i genuinely liked this guy (started after he gave me attention) and we eventually kissed but it just felt weird, not particularly good but also not that uncomfortable. i thought i wanted to date him but not really in a long term/forever way, i kinda thought i would break up with him after a while just so i could prove to myself someone could like me in that way?? i thought i really liked him but when we actually talked/kissed i didn‘t actually but i still wanted to date him for the ✨experience✨ and because i wanted to be liked so does that mean i‘m attracted to men?
also i did really like holding hands and cuddling with him but i also do and like that with my (female) friends soo idkkkk
Hi friend!
You don’t have to be repulsed by men to be a lesbian, and the way you are describing the situation here sounds like you are also not attracted to this guy and he left you pretty indifferent. When you feel attracted to someone, they don’t leave you indifferent like this.
And I just want to say, people who are attracted to guys don’t think like this… like saying you want to date a guy for the experience and eventually you’d just break up with him? That doesn’t sound like you wanted to be with him because you were actually attracted to him.
I understand this feeling though, I definitely used to enjoy whatever ego boost a guy could provide by showing interest in me. The only thing is that it got so boring and uninteresting for me, and also I then never gave myself a chance to pursue actual deeper romantic/physical connections with people I was attracted to, which sucked.
To me this is a little bit textbook comphet in the sense that you are prioritizing any attention and relationship from and to men, as long as they give you attention because that’s what we’re told is the ultimate compliment (ie you wanting to “prove to yourself someone could like you that way”).
My final thought on this is: don’t settle! Any relationship with someone you are actually attracted to will be so much more exciting and meaningful to you. And if you are ace/aro maybe deeper plantonic relationships that involve some hand holding and cuddling but not kissing is what will be more exciting and meaningful to you! Either way, you have so much time to figure it out.
Hope this helps, the queer community loves you 🧡🤍🩷❤️

HELLO KELS!! For the recent ask game reblog, #5 and #7? >:)
HELLO ABBY!! Thank you for the ask >:)
5. Favorite platonic pairing?
Oh god, such a good question. Maybe Palamedes and Harrowhark? They break my heart (EXTREMELY POSITIVE). I also love the FemShep and Garrus friendship, and Viola and Cheshire :)
7. Least favorite headcanon?
I feel like this is you stoking the flames......and yet, I will add more wood to the fire with my answer. Alas.
Probably my biggest ick is the way people write Jeanne and Bayonetta when it comes to their sexuality; coding Jeanne as a vindictive femcel lesbian who can't let go of Bayo rejecting her, and coding Bayo as a stupid bisexual who just doesn't get that men suck. Both are really gross headcanons imo because they are rarely written or talked about in a self aware way, and end up being projections of the prejudice certain people have toward queer women. There are ways to write, for example, a Jeanne dealing with rejection and a Bayonetta dealing with comphet, that do no fallback on tired stereotypes about scary predatory lesbians and idiot bisexual women. It is often just textbook lesbiphobia and biphobia and I cannot fucking stand it!!!!!!! RAUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But besides that, I really cannot think of any other hc that bothers me. Headcanons are fun I am glad people are having fun with them, even if I don't share the same ideas, you know?
