"I'm good," Elizabeth nodded to Azula. She knew her parents would freak if they knew how intense most capture the flag games got. "You didn't need to... thanks mom," she sighed and moved into the living room to sit down but noticed Natalie was already cleaning things up.

"Shoes off please," Natalie called out as she moved to grab the vacuum. "Your aunt and uncle will be here in an hour, can we try and be little presentable?"

E froze where she stood and pulled her own shoes off with a small frown. "Sorry." Aaron quickly pulled his shoes off and moved to put them away, knowing better than to get in the way of his mom on a cleaning spree.

"I'm going to go shower," Aaron state before heading to his room to drop his bag off and grab clean clothes. Elizabeth was about to say she'd go next when her phone buzzed and it took all of her attention. She looked down at the screen and smirked a little before typing a text back.

What we know about Elizabeth so far:

To some degree, Elizabeth isn't actually concerned with Victor's feelings about their marriage. To her, it's an arrangement and the only meaningful marital prospect she has. So while she is determined to marry him unless by some miracle she's presented with a better option its not out of any romantic affection on her end.

She's very good to the Frankenstein family staff. She recognizes her ambiguous station in the Frankenstein household and in some ways feels more like one of them than a member off he family.

She is illegitimate, her mother was an unknown German, and her Italian lover who was in no way suited to being a parent which was why she was essentially abandoned before Caroline Frankenstein adopted her.

you die to protect something you love. it does not matter in the end. if it's a person, they still die shortly after, if it's a war, you still lose. your death means nothing. the only people who could've appreciated it will be gone quickly as well. you will die thinking you have done something, when really you have done nothing. perhaps that is the saddest thing of all.

Aaron just shook his head. "Nerds," he teased in the most loving way. As his sister went on and on about the leaps in filmmaking that Lucas had achieved, only pausing a few times to ask what Lachlan thought of the last episode of something Star Wars, Aaron remained quiet focusing on the road.

The restaurant wasn't far and soon Aaron was parking the car. "Did you sign up for any other extra curricular's this year?" E asked as they all exited the car, looking to Lachie for his answer. "AV club could always use your pretty face."

Lachie grinned like an idiot from the backseat. "I like E's passion-speak," he said. "I have more Star Wars trivia in my head than a YA novel could ever contain. Between E and mami, that's endless info." He watched the exchange between the twins and grinned. "It's so cool that a sci-fi movie inspires that much technological advancement. Everything he did was ahead of it's time." He looked to Aaron, daring him to make fun.

Jowi sat, late at night, in the old SEES dorm room, flipping through old documents and research on the Dark Hour. He’d expected as much, that it would be mostly outdated, but surely there had to be some data of use amidst all of this old information. After all, this was all he had to work on his plan with, until Karla and Mitsuru could get her hands on more modern data. “To think that something like Nyx lives on our plane… that it originated here… what a monster. If only I could just point that at New Phyrexia… but I guess it really only cares about us humans, huh…”

After Mitsuru and Akihiko had moved out of the dorms the spring of their graduation, the other former SEES members had moved out of the dorm as well, all going their separate ways and accepting the reality of having to move on. The dorm, once bustling with life and activity, now sat dormant and vacant for the better half of just over a decade.

The Kirijo Group had no plans to continue using it as a dormitory, so instead it became a storage facility for documents and other information related to SEES and the Dark Hour. With the furniture covered in moving cloths and dust accumulating on almost every surface, only authorized personnel were allowed on the premises.

Every room had been used for storage - including the former bedrooms of SEES members. Well, all except for one. On the second floor, where the former boys' dorms were located, at the very end of the hall was a door that had been tightly locked just a day after his death...

As Jowi flipped through documents in the main lobby, an unearthly glowing blue butterfly flitted past him, circling his head a couple of times to garner his attention. Once it had, it seemed to dart away, toward the staircase and up to the second floor, as if asking him to follow it.

“ ROCKING BOAT ON SHIFTING SANDS —“

• DIVISON I ; Breaching Memories

To and Fro, Ebbing and Flowing.

The shifting sand; the water crashing against her body only further swaying the woman.

Red hair sways with the movement of the sand, and with it, her forrest green eyes peer through the deep. She blinks once, then twice, then closes them for good.

“Remember?” Her tanned skin is rough where the water and the sand scrubs against. “Not really.” She responds to herself, the monochromatic figure standing before her unmoving with the water.

She laughs to herself, naturally high in pitch as if she ingested a small amount of helium, it would make sense, she muses.

“That’s alright, you will in due time.” She sees herself trapped in the black sand; Not black, dark. She can’t see the colour, but she doesn’t care about that either way, so why think of it? She shakes her head ridding the thought of awareness.

“Why now of all times?” The figure unmoving responds swiftly “Who says it's now? There's no counting the sand or droplets of water, no linear path to go.” The sand, The water; The Sediment begins to harden against her.

“Trapped, are we?” She shakes her head “No.”

She walks forward towards her body “Perhaps it’s as you said, nonlinear.” The woman smiles “Perhaps we’re both trapped, Perhaps we were never trapped to begin with.”

As Sediment stills, finally resting, she looks up finding nothing but herself, and she laughs as she looks down at herself.

“Doctor?”

Elizabeth blinks as she stands in the doorway of her laboratory, quickly putting her hand to her head as a migraine starts to form. “Doctor Elizabeth, are you alright?” Her assistant, Seigewein [1], stands beside her with brows furrowed.

“I’m fine, a sudden headache is all, fetch me some pills won't you kid?” She looks towards the younger boy, watching as he runs off towards the infirmary across the hall. Elizabeth scoffs, attempting to remember the imagery that popped into her head with no success.

Elizabeth walks forward to her desk, paperwork and empty test tubes scattered on it.

She breathes in and breathes out. Looking towards the hourglass on her filing cabinet, watching as the sand, the water; She blinks, ‘Water?’

Another wave of pain surges in her head, she hisses as her hand makes its way towards the bridge of her nose, pinching hard. Elizabeth lets out a deep sigh and opens the email tab on her computer, keys making loud ‘Tak’s as she types. She didn’t see any reason to stay in the office building any longer, the redhead muses.

Her assistant returns, knocking on the doorway to the lab “I— Uhm— Wasn’t sure which bottle I had to grab so I took the red and blue headache bottles, which one do you need?”

She could feel her brow twitch, this is why she wished her last assistant didn't quit. “I don’t know seigewein, why don’t you tell me what the damn bottles say?” She huffs as she looks up from her computer. “Uh..Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen?”

“And what, pray tell, if for headaches only?” The boy stumbles over his words, finally landing on a quiet ‘I’m not sure, doctor.’

Elizabeth grumbles under her breath before facing Seigewein “Acetaminophen works in the brain, while Ibuprofen works for brain and body. Furthermore, while Ibuprofen is good for tension headaches, what I’m wanting is Acetaminophen, which works for me better than Ibuprofen as I’m not experiencing fever. Got it?”

She deadpans as she watches the boy fumble with the medicine bottles, putting both in one arm and reaching for his inside coat pocket “Seigewein, I swear to god If you don’t give me the acetaminophen and write in that notebook of yours instead, I’m firing you.”

The boy startles and quickly makes his way across the room, finally putting the bottle labeled ‘Acetaminophen’ on his boss’s desk “H— Here you go, Doctor!” She huffs and shakes her head “Yeah Yeah, get out of here and go home kid, you remember where to clock out?” Seigewein nods “Then get the fuck out of my office, and close the door behind you.”

Seigewein bows his head and runs off, doing as the redhead said quickly, leaving the woman finally alone. She sighs, eyes settling back on the hourglass.

It wasn’t particularly special by any means, just a small office-warming gift she got from her friend. ‘It’s practical and totes your style!’ She remembers that conversation like it was yesterday, more appropriately, she remembers how happy her friend was to get Elizabeth a gift she thought the woman would like. The redhead didn’t quite have the heart to tell Vienna she didn’t care about gifts but decided, either way, to put it in her office so it would at least seem like she cared about it in the photo.

Vienna had enough items correlating with time anyway, Elizabeth was never sure what her obsession was with the prospect of ‘time’, but the same could be said for her interests. Her pursuit of science, no matter the type, was often questioned by many. ‘Why pursue so many fields of science, what's the purpose?’

Elizabeth, truthfully, was never sure herself.

All she knew was that she was a prodigy among her classmates, and her passion was all things science. She was known for never doing anything she didn’t need to anyhow, often turning down any prestigious college invites. Why does she need to go to a fancy college, it’s no different than any other. Sure, it’s harder, but why make more work for herself?

The difference in difficulty between a common college, and a prestigious one was the same. The only difference to her was the price, so of course she’d choose the better option and go for a cheaper more stable college than a place filled with stuck ups.

She didn’t need to go to a fancy college to get where she was now after all, being the head of her very own research institution.

Elizabeth stops her thoughts right in their tracks. Focusing back on her work, she sighs, finally sending the email she was brainlessly writing. Getting up to stretch after turning off her computer, she grabs the letterman off the back of her chair and throws it over her shoulders, leaving ‘work mode’, as her friend Vienna puts it.

At the end of the day, she is just Elizabeth Pierrot Courtiere, and as she walks out the door, the last drop of sand falls in the hourglass.
