Believing in art can be so powerful. Like, remember Jim Henson and how he genuinely wanted to use art to reach people? To educate, to inspire and even in the case of Fraggle Rock literally bring about world peace. Like fuck cynicism, we need to start believing in that kind of shit again. The world can be better. we will MAKE it better.
Or like how Gene Roddenbery genuinely believed the Star Trek future was happening. Like we were going to go through some real tough shit and then BAM no hungry kids. Everyone has their shit together, we're off to the future to make friends with our alien besties the vulcans. who have also been through shit.

Also I have a weird respect for Christian media's use of crowdfunding and viral marketing. Like most of it is either vile shit or pussy shit. But they have become very adept at galvanizing a community to work on a project. And I don't think it's just a 'con' I think they're tapping into a very human need to build something lasting, and that in their mind will better the world.
If we're going to defeat them we have to be fair and beat them at their own game. We need a sense of shared vision to bring about the Star Trek future.
And ngl if we're getting down to brass tacks I don't disagree with a lot of the philosophy in Abrahamic religions, I just think we need to learn to see GOD as bigger than dogma or minutiae. I am firmly of the Pelagian belief that works matter more than the specifics of beliefs.
Basically make the world more beautiful, guys. Learn to really love and understand the people who challenge you, help those who need it, heal the land. etc.

I have a weird fascination with Christianity. I grew up in the religion, my family has left it. But I was weird kid who read books on theology for fun.
So I have what I can only describe as a weird relationship with American Christianity. What I'm getting at is I'm watching The Chosen to see where the culture is at and I genuinely don't understand modern Christian media's inability to pick a tone.

"You came out to this desert because you believed that was where I would be. You brought your faith and arrogance and have worked very hard to ignore that it was I who created the material world and declared it was good." God hissed. "Abraham was a stubborn, unruly child, Moses stuttered and was barred from the promised land, David a lecher and murderer. Did I not plunge Christ like a knife into the world? I built gardens and found them pleasing and called blessed the men who wrestled with angels and called deviants the one after my own heart. What the fuck are you doing demanding obedience and ascetic renunciations?"

"You want to know what part of you was made in my image?" God stepped away and began making clusters of dots in the sand. "When man was still an animal they ran to each other for warmth, for strength. They learned they could heal. One of their own could be crippled by the beasts stalking the night and still have value. They saw my face then in those beasts because they taught them this and they were grateful."
God paused and drew a circle around the cluster of dots. "Your tribes grew bigger and you learned each of you could do so much, there was so much you could give each other. So you grew roots like the trees and founded cities so you could keep each other warm."
God fell silent and drew another ‘city’ of dots enclosed in a circle. "You may not see it but you are always reaching for each other. Even what you think are the cruelest parts of yourself- the parts that make war and hates just binds you closer together."
God drew the shape of the continents now around the clustered cities. "Look how far it has already brought you."
God rubbed the sand from his fingers that clung to their creator's hands. "That is the part of you that was made in my image. And someday that part of you will take you to the stars. There are other tribes for you to meet."

God sighed and his hands glowed to keep the other warm. "This idea of stealing souls. It's . . . not true. Your soul it's yours. Forever. It's my gift to you. My angels. . . My fallen angels just think they can make you forget. But everyone remembers. No soul is lost forever."

Tasha fucking Data makes a lot of sense what we’re told of her past- Data is safe as a sexual partner (he won’t be violent) but he also isn’t a threat in emotional or vulnerable sense
