Did I finish/remake those in two hours? Yes. Did I struggle to find enough pictures on pinterest? Also Yes. But did I have fun anyways? Absolutely. And I'm so proud of some of these actually 🤭
This is post-twp-etablished-kitty and based on like A LOT of headcanons and personal thoughts, so I hope you'wll enjoy it anyways. The quality liked me this time, thank god (searching for good AI upscalers took longer than creating these posts).
It's kind of a New Year present for all of you. Thank you for all the nice messages, the likes & reblogs and the wonderful conversations I got to have during the last weeks! I appreciate all of it and all of you so much!
Happy 2024 to everyone, I love you! ✨💛

Quotes that remind me of them : Herondales
Shadowhunters : "We are a generation of sleepy lovers, big hearted rebels, tired fighters, we are a generation worn out but unwilling to back down."
Jace Herondale : "It is absurd to divide people into good or bad. People are either charming or tedious."
Kit Herondale : "I don't have a train of thoughts, I have seven trains on 4 tracks that narrowly avoid each other when the paths cross and all the conductors are screaming."
Lucie Herondale : "Let me make you immortal with words, let me pluck your soul form your body and turn it into ink and capture your essence in my, our, art. "
James Herondale : "Sorry, wasn't able to hear your over my eternal yearning and melancholic dreaming. "
Will Herondale : "Love. The reason I dislike that word is that it means too much to me, far more than you can understand."

Kit straightened up. “Nope, I’m good. Come on Brother Hauntingly Attractive.”
“There’s no need to mention this to Tessa.”
“And Yet,” said Kit, “I’m gonna.“
I may present to you Christopher Herondale

TID characters as Taylor Swift Albums
( i have wanted to do this for so long now)
Sophie Collins as Debut "Its alright to love someone who doesn't love you back, as long as they're worth you loving them. As long as they deserve it."
I mean she totally has those faded blue jeans paired with a tank top aesthetic when you think about it. She fell head first for a boy who showed her what hope was and then grew out of it to fall for a man who lit her world. She is brave and beautiful just like country Taylor.
Tessa Gray as Fearless (Taylor's version) "If no one in the entire world cared about you, did you really exist at all?"
Because she is the epitome of hope, her transition into a new country all by herself is so inspiring, and i’ve always associated Fearless with change, the inevitable beautiful kind, that transforms you into a new person, the sort of change that grows on you.
Jessamine Lovelace as Speak Now "Life is full of risks. Death is much simpler."
Sometimes we don’t say things when we feel them before it’s too late, but like Taylor rightly said “I don’t think you should wait, I think you should speak now.” Jessamine didn’t have much time but she realized things before it was too late. She saved them by sacrificing herself. She became her own salvation.
Will Herondale as Red (Taylor's Version) "Life is a book and there are a thousand pages that I have not yet read."
Yes i promise this is definitely not because Red is my favorite album (mostly). I have always associated Red with love and said that in a way Will taught me how to love. The selfless love that comes with knowing someone, falling head first for someone unknowingly, the sort of love that comes with the risk of them not catching you as you fall. It's ugly but it's radiant. It is the most beautiful shade of red because when you look into their eyes, you know it's worth it.
Cecily Herondale as 1989 "I am not afraid of London.", Cecily said defiantly.
Are you kidding me? She is literally the new romantic. She believed in second chances, she looked for the best in people. She was sweet and the sort of person everyone would want to protect but she also knew how to stand up for herself when come to it.
Charlotte Fairchild as Reputation “What I mean,” Charlotte said, correcting herself, “is that you are a Shadowhunter first, and a lady second.”
Make way for the first female Consul. *drumroll* She is smart, she is clever, she is wise, she is badass, she is the moment. She kind of ran the institute alone for years and took care of three kids with serious issues. She is the definition of being brave.
Gabriel Lightwood as Lover “You may hide here with me, if you wish.”
Please, we can all agree on the fact that Gabriel was the misunderstood lover boy. He is easily overlooked but that does not mean he doesn't have a sparkling personality. He is a pushover but when he knows something needs to be done, he does it.
James Carstairs as Folklore "You endure what is unbearable and you bear it. That is all."
Jem Carstairs is the epitome of wisdom and I consider Folklore the most lyrically established album so I think they go well together. He is like the start of August - when the breeze in the air feels like hope. He knew how to draw stars around someone's scars and heal them. He knew how to be there for the people he loved.

Heir To The Lands Chapter 4
First Blood masterpost
The hooves of the Faerie hunters were a slow, steady beat across London, slowly encasing Blackthorn Hall. They had been on Kit's trail for a while, but the many spells warding Dimmet Tarn had made it impossible to truly know where, let alone get close. Now that they were out in the open, it was like a shark smelling blood. The hunters were on their trail, and it wouldn't last long until chaos ensued.
Breakfast hadn't went over that badly, the food gave both Ty and Kit to have things to distract themselves with from one another. Tessa had been asking Dru questions about her school, how the New Academy in Exile was like. She was obviously hoping it had improved from the times James had attended, because of Mina's future attendance. Dru answered her with enthusiasm, she couldn't praise Diana enough and the student body was nice. The fact the Cohort had weeded out the worst apples, actually was an improvement no matter how terrible it sounds. Emma had to surpress herself from chuckling over it. "Sounds logical though, I wouldn't want them at my school either," Kit commented. "You still go to a mundane school, right? I wonder what's that like." Emma said, only being able to think in movie terms. "Still boring, but I do think I'm preferring the British aesthetic." Kit said, and Jules laughed, "The more I'm here, I'm liking it over here too." Emma sighed fondly at him. "Everyone's charmed by the UK." Dru stated, shaking her head. "You'll be too, in no time. Just wait until you see the cute goth boutiques at Camden Market." Okay, Emma was speaking her language. "I'm in."
Jules and Ty stayed behind together, as the Carstairs-Gray family joined Dru and Emma to their trip to Camden Market. The moment Emma had began speaking about the other numerous alternative shop, she mentioned a ravewear shop that had a pretty cool space aesthetic. Mina's eyes started sparkling at the mention, and Emma did think she recalled a few children's items in the store when she had investigated the place. Mina, as a little girl, has various phases where she wanted to be this or that. She currently had a bit of an alien phase. So the family had decided to join the two girls on their shopping trip. Mina giggled, this time Kit was carrying her on his shoulders. Dru noted he really was becoming more tall, and handsome. She low-key could see the resemblance between him and Jace more clearly too. They really were family alright. Emma and Jem had struck a conversation in the distance, and Tessa seemed to be taken down some kind of memory lane. Until she suddenly snapped her head up. "Everyone, grab your weapons," Tessa said, whipping her head in one direction. Kit could feel it too, "Something is coming! Don't let go of me Mina!" Emma grabbed the seraph blade from her belt, and Dru took her throwing dagger out of her boots when she faintly could hear something coming there way, a beat that was growing steadier and steadier. Hooves. They sounded like hooves. Jem visibly paled, he shot a quick look at Tessa, before an energy of storm seemed to light up in the streets. At the edge of the streets, fey rode their horses. The group of Nephilim and warlock, formed a formation to brace themselves. Kit was behind in the formation, partially due to being the First Heir and partially due to little Mina on his shoulders. Tessa dived as a arrow was shot her way, firing a spell as response. Jem moved, and with a swift motion, pulled his cane from the umbrella, the plastic fabric falling on the floor with the metal pins sticking out like a big spider was trapped beneath the bright blue plastic. Kit noticed the group of Faerie hunters had a similar formation they did, as one hunter seemed to stay behind the rest, barely fighting at all. Dru had managed to throw a dagger straight into one of the hunters' his throat, green blood rushing down as his corpse slid on the ground, trampled by his horse. Yet the feeling of triumph was short lived, as the hunter behind the group moved so fast, nobody saw it coming. They only noticed it by the time Emma crumbled down, a thin Faerie knife portruding from her chest.

All CC's "Characters" are just shells of characters and fandom likes to fill in with their own imaginations. That's why there are soo many fanfiction characters that are more amazing than the Og characters.
Jace is just a shell of a character: he has no personality at all! he's just the bad boy trope from the early 2000s and a love interest. Will is the same trope applied in Victorian aesthetics and a love interest, Emma is the typical vengeful heroine with a Sword and a love interest. Kit is a traumatized young boy in love (yes, we haven't seen this before in the same series) and James (under the influence of Gracelet) is a perfect example of how bland every other TSC character would be if they are not in a "forbidden romance" trope. Jem is a good boy and explains a great deal about his relationship with Will to Tessa, Alec is gay with a bow. Isabell is Jace&Alec's hot sister, and Clary is your typical self-centred heroine and love interest. Lucie is an amateur writer with a love interest-Jesse is the Love interest ..etc.
Are there any morally grey characters among the characters that actually matter to the story? Morally grey characters are not inherently good people who did mistakes under some sort of influence. I can't go into detail about Grace because of Chot Spoilers. CC sucks at writing morally grey characters. None of her morally grey characters is intentional, the characters that were supposed to be hated but were loved by the fandom so she let them get a redemption arc.
No character in TSC has a personality to them. No characters (especially the mains) in TSC are solid characters. They are just love interests with tropes added to them.
All the TSC characters can pretty much be summed up with couple traits. In many occasions, fans have had a greater capacity to deepen and broaden the characters that returning to the original works feels terribly lacking.
The one morally gray character that comes up to mind is Robert, but he is one of those unintentional ones that gets a form of redemption arc. Stephen also edged that misguided but good the more we learn from him, though Tessa dismisses him completely. Kieran and, now I suspect, Grace both end up being good but were forced out of their circumstances to commit questionable or antagonistic things. The greater villains like the Unseelie King and Tatiana eventually end up taking the fall for the actions of their influencees because they were the main bad guys behind it all. Or that Kieran's or Grace's intentions were ultimately good but they appeared bad at first. Similarly Gabriel and Alastair are not fundamentally morally grey characters though their actions aren't always necessarily good either.
I guess Clare tried making a morally grey character when she wrote Julian, but Julian is just an asshole who goes above and beyond to protect his family and Emma. There's nothing morally grey about his ways, his actions are just portrayed as "ruthless" but. in the end, Julian still stands on the same moral ground as the rest of the good guys. Maybe Jessamine? She did what she wanted and wished out of her life, despite the Shadowhunter brainwashing, and sided with antagonists and villains to achieve that.
I think the reason readers find so much to discuss about Clare's characters and stories is because all the ingredients and sometimes subtext is there, but as Clare loves to wave at those as they pass by, the readers and fans are able to see the full potential and emotional depth Clare is incapable of executing. My favorite pieces of fan writing (unsurprising because of my main complaint always) are those that have the honest conversations and interactions and acknowledgements the series fails to externalize because it some way would not serve the characters like Jace who Clare wants to coddle.
Jace has always been nothing short of a power fantasy, a character that is so oohed and aahed at by other characters because anything happening in the series need other characters as the audience to validate whatever the tragic main hero is going through. Jace and Clary's position in the Clave is majorly overstated and poorly justified in Queen of Air and Darkness, that the reveal of them being alive and the rest of the Nephilim being gobsmacked by this doesn't really hit the notes Clare intended.
Alec clapping back at Lazlo in the election meeting was on point, but Alec's words cannot stand on their own without a random person commenting, "wow, he's good." As if Clare does not trust the effect to be delivered by her own writing, she needs to resort to writing someone giving a commentary on any given occasion or major reactions from other characters for emphasis. Similarly Alec invoking Michael's name to Sammael was pretty cool on its own, but no, Magnus needs to give his two cents on how cool it was. And it was way cooler than Jace doing it to Lilith in CoFA.
I went on a tangent again, but I agree with you. Jesse probably has even less personality than James. And that's not a lot to begin with. Clare's approach to her characters is very external, having a lump you attach things you think are cool to instead of creating a solid character that extends from the inside out.
