Lawmakers like Budd, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, have taken a great interest in the Palestine Chronicle and its nonprofit parent company, the People Media Project, since the Free Beacon first reported on Monday about its links to Iranian regime-controlled propaganda sites. The outlet’s editor in chief, Ramzy Baroud, wrote for two now-defunct websites that the U.S. government seized in 2020 for being part of a propaganda network controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC). At least six of the outlet’s writers also wrote for these IRGC-controlled sites.
Following Aljamal’s death during an Israeli raid in Gaza to free the hostages, the Palestine Chronicle published a glowing obituary, claiming its writer was just an innocent civilian trying to perform journalism. As Budd and his colleagues note in their letter, however, Aljamal "previously served as a spokesman for the Hamas-run Palestinian Ministry of Labor in Gaza."
"While Aljamal may have played a journalist by day, the evidence clearly suggests he was, at a minimum, a Hamas collaborator, if not a full-time terror operative, responsible for keeping hostages captive," according to the letter, which is also backed by Sens. Ted Cruz (R., Texas), Joni Ernst (R., Iowa), Rick Scott (R., Fla.), Pete Ricketts (R., Neb.), and Roger Wicker (R., Miss.), the ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
With questions now swirling about the Palestine Chronicle and its editor Baroud, the senators say a multi-pronged federal investigation is necessary to determine if the outlet and its parent company were "actively employing an individual with apparent ties to and support for Hamas." The Palestine Chronicle downplayed its ties to Aljamal in a Monday piece, saying Aljamal "was a freelance writer who contributed articles to the Palestine Chronicle on a voluntary basis, mostly since the start of the Israeli genocide in Gaza."
"It is possible that this tax-exempt media outlet had no knowledge of its correspondent’s Hamas affiliation; however, given the organization’s recent attempts to cover up evidence of its ties to Aljamal, this seems unlikely, making them complicit in supporting terrorist propaganda on their platform," the senators wrote.
The lawmakers also instructed the IRS to "prepare a report on the findings of this investigation for the [Senate] Finance Committee to review in the appropriate venue."

What do you think about Sabrina? Are you like her, dislike her or neutral?
I don't have strong feelings about Sabrina beyond a general distaste for her "redemption." Sabrina was played as way too much of a willing bully for me to absolve her of her past actions without some serious apologizing on her part. Just look at these matching smirks from the Derision flashback!
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Chloe and Sabrina smirking evilly while plotting to hurt Marinette]
That was the episode that blamed Chloe for all of Marinette's problems while showing Sabrina doing all the actual dirty work, which is very much a running theme in this show. Most of the things that Chloe gets blamed for should see at least part of the blame going to Sabrina, too, but that's not what we get in canon. Sabrina spends multiple seasons helping Chloe torment people only to be welcomed on to team Miraculous before she even reaches her "redemption" moment (see: Penalteam). Now that Sabrina has done her one good dead, she's redeemed and is a permanent holder as a reward for that single good act, I guess?
The whole thing makes me deeply uncomfortable when I compare it to the way that the show handled Chloe. I only bring that up because, when it comes to Sabrina, I can't avoid thinking or talking about the Chloe thing because you never see Sabrina without Chloe! They're a matching set! They even have similar base stories with Chloe's parents influencing her behavior via their abuse and encouragement just like Chloe influenced Sabrina (which could have been a great discussion about abuse leading to abuse if this element of their writing had been even remotely intentional). Redeeming one and not the other invites you to make the comparison and it's unfortunately a comparison that's deeply lacking on multiple fronts.
If Chloè didn't earn a redemption - and I really don't think that she did, her redemption never truly stated - then neither did Sabrina. A sob story doesn't undo the harm that you've caused. A redemption doesn't even undo the harm! You can fully "redeem" yourself and still be rejected by those you hurt because your victims don't owe you a relationship. (Side note, this is where Chloe and Sabrina fall for me. In the early seasons, you could redeem them onto the team. Now? The writers took these two way too far to the point where they feel like totally different characters and even break early canon episodes because Marinette's treatment of them doesn't match who they supposedly always were.)
If they really wanted to redeem Sabrina, then they needed to highlight what makes her story different from Chloe's. As is, it feels massively hypocritical to welcome Sabrina onto the team after all that she's done to cause harm and after how little she's done to right that harm. At best, canon Sabrina should have just gone off to a new school to get a fresh start without Chloe. At worst, she should have become someone else's minion. Either way, she should not be treated as one of the "good guys."
Outside of that mess, Sabrina is just your standard minion character who gets minimal development, so it's hard for me to have a strong opinion on her. I think she's used well in the first few seasons, but she's still one of the characters that I'd cut or at least cut back on if I had my way with canon simply because she's not really necessary for the show to work and the cast needs to be cut down significantly. It's not that I hate her or anything like that. I just don't see why Chloe needed a minion or what Sabrina adds that another character can't.
For example, you could give Sabrina a solid character arc around developing healthy friendships and letting go of Chloe's influence, but why give that to her when you could give it to Mr. I've-never-really-had-friends-before-and-I-really-should-have-a-character-arc-around-that who also happens to have grown up with Chloe as his only friend? (That's Adrien by the way. Why go with Sabrina when you've got him unless you're using Sabrina to contrast Adrien in some way?)

Dropout Discord Keeps on Giving
You'd think with the server shutting down / freezing in a week or so that there would not be anything to report, but you'd be wrong.
In the past few days the current batch of users, specifically that one young Jew who believes all of us are brainwashed, have been posting some out there stuff.
I have the screen shots but at this point it can be summarized as Everyone is Brainwashed but Me still thinks their family is brainwashed and they can't be honest with them about the Truth™ without being labeled a "traitor". But they know the Truth™ that this is a Genocide and the worst thing ever and their family doesn't (remember this is someone in their early 20s). Their family gave them Noa Tishby's book to read and its full of Zionist lies and propaganda. In response another use recommended this link.
Tumblr media
Fig. 1. User responding to Everyone is Brainwashed but Me with a video to "argue" back with.
This video features Dr. Lara Sheehi. If you don't know who that is, Dr. Sheehi has a history of antisemitic behavior and targeting of Jews in her classes. Dr. Sheehi has openly supported Hamas and her social media was the infamous Blackflaghag that posted such wonderful things as "FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR AID". Profiles on Dr. Sheehi repeat the same thing that much of her time as a professor was spent demonizing Jews and Israel and trying to recruit people to BDS and other causes.
She was a professor at GWU and the university's investigation "cleared" her. However, the Office of Civil Rights opened an investigation into her and suddenly she left GWU in January 2024 and is now a professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar. Considering that Qatar has funneled billions of dollars into the USA collegiate system, was host to leaders of Hamas for years, and their state media acts as a mouth piece for Hamas, it's not surprising that she would end up there considering the amount of work she did for the Cause™ in the USA.
I doubt anyone will point out any of this to them, nor would they accept it as anything other than "Hasbara". Later, they tell us that they finished the book and that it's full of apartheid denial and denial that Israel is a colonial state (there's a collage of pictures in between the two comments that I won't include here).
Tumblr media
Fig. 2. Everyone is Brainwashed but Me mentions finishing the book.
The apartheid argument is one I have seen come up a multitude of times by activists, and it makes no sense to me. Apartheid, as defined, is the discriminatory authoritarian ruling of the majority by a minority population that results in segregation based on race within a country. As many have previously established, Arab Israelis have the same rights as all other non-Arab Israelis. They are part of the government, military, businesses, and so on. If the argument is to be made that there is apartheid like laws regarding Palestinians...well that makes no sense. The Palestinian territories are their own separate entity with their own separate governments, laws, and structures. Meaning, Palestinians entering Israel from Gaza or the WB are foreign nationals, they will of course be subject to different laws. In fact, every country has a set of laws for foreign nationals that differ in some capacity from the laws that govern their civilians. So we either have the Palestinian territories actually being a part of Israel in the mind of activists, which only area C could be considered this, or they're separate entities entirely. Area C gets into a whole realm of murky politicking that is outside of my realm of expertise, but it's the only place where I can see this argument hold any weight (and yes, the settlement stuff is bullshit and the military laws get into a whole weird realm of things, I'm well aware of this). However, I have yet to encounter any Western Activists acknowledging the complexity of Area C and the international laws and regulations regarding it, let alone the average activist even knowing the difference between the Areas, Israel, and Palestinian territories. Now, I have seen the lack of a right of return for Palestinians be used as an argument that Israel is an apartheid state. And again, I have to ask how? This type of law is not characteristic of apartheid as we know and define it. But again, if we get into this territory then what happens? Do they become Israelis or are they Palestinian citizens? What laws are they subject to? If they're foreign nationals living in Israel due to a right of return then they have different laws that adhere to them, which is not part of an apartheid system. If they become Israeli citizens then they have all the rights given to them as citizens. Neither of these support the claim. Simply put, they insist Israel is an apartheid state and when you mention any form of the above they call you a racist spreading propaganda and then shut down any meaningful discussion (in Dropout's case they kick you from the server for pointing out how wrong they are about things). We have a clear definition of what apartheid means and what practices are involved, but like "genocide" it seems that this definition has gone out the window and is now defined as anything people want it to be. As for the colonial state argument, who is Israel a colony of? And don't say the USA or the UK, that would mean that they send resources back to those countries, are taxed by them, their government is controlled in every capacity by them, and so much more. Considering anti-Zionists like to say the USA's government is controlled by Israel, it's quite contradictory. It appears that so much of the Western Activist's antisemitism anti-Zionism is couched within just believing everything Jews Israelis Zionists say is lies while openly believing a terrorist organization's narrative (an organization that I, once again, need remind everyone is on record saying they would manipulate Westerns into believing their narrative regardless of its veracity).

I’ve been trying and failing for so long to cohesivley articulate my Azure King + Kunikida thoughts to the point where this is going to be an incompetent mess but i really do think that the entire Azure King and Apostole Incident were like, the Defining moment for who Kunikida was, is and will be.
His character revolves so strongly around the Azure Incidents because its his fixed point in time, his two mini Dazai-Oda moments. Thinking about how his two light novels Magnificent Days and Dazai’s Entrance Exam were focused on the before and after of the Azure King’s death. And the novels themselves! “Kunikida and Katai’s magnificent days” Love and intimacy, a shared, sheltered world, a decade worth of friendship. The story takes place mostly with just Kunikida and Katai, inside one cozy house.
And after the Azure King’s death you have “Osamu Dazai’s Entrance Exam” like a work report title. Cold, militaristic. Missions, strict schedules. Beginning in death and ending with death.
The tone shift from the gentle, domestic Magnificent Days to Entrance Exam feels so daunting because you can almost sense how neurotic and hurt Kunikida is over even accidentally getting people killed. Its that loss of control that made him so stiff.
How Kunikida can’t even wear blue because of it. How Sasaki still haunts him years down the line. How the anime made it a deliberate choice to have the Azure King looking similar to Kunikida. Red string of fate except it’s the blue of corpses. “Traitor to their country”

perhaps this is in bad faith, but don't you think it's plausible that ms appleton was just a government food scientist who was sent to japan as sort of U.S. ambassador and given a generic, americanized name? we know that resources were scarce during the war and that many changes had to be made, or simply were made to cut costs, in the production of lots of things at the time. it just makes sense when you break it down that traditional shoyu is time and labour intensive to make but improves the taste of even outright bad dishes. at a time when people were forced to eat whatever food was available to them demand was likely very high to the point of unreasonably outweighing supply. either officials at kikkoman reached out to american food scientists for a solution or they offered one up themselves, given the fact that food science was undergoing a huge international renaissance led by the americans during the 30s, 40s and 50s. americans have a tendency to synthesize food. they also tend to feel strongly about imposing their culture on other countries. it seems more to me like this is a story about the american government taking extra steps to obfuscate the story of how they semi-successfully tried to be the final nail in the coffin of widespread, traditional shoyu production. less like some kind of yakuza conspiracy somehow centred on one woman. just the perspective of someone who's felt compelled to do their own research. it's my opinion that the way you're presenting your findings leaves massive gaps as well as leaps to get over them. i can't speak for the things you haven't shared publicly, obviously, but it feels a lot like you're dancing around the point. good luck to you in your research, regardless of my own feelings.
I think I agree that you're either arguing in bad faith or simply aren't really paying attention to a wider picture here. It's common knowledge that postwar economics in Japan were heavily influenced and remain to this day connected to organized crime and the Yakuza as an old tool of the imperial/noble order. We also know for a fact that the CIA worked with the yakuza during American occupation in order to manipulate political culture and economic structures.
It's also a common conspiracy in Japanese circles (or at least so it appears, and I want to be clear I am not voicing this as more than preexisting theory/belief, so I will not directly source to give complete credibility; consider this as context for why I might be interested in investigating further, just in case) that Empress Michiko and the Seifun Milling Company had close under-the-table connections with America, which would further influence the traditional shoyu brewing culture.
Like, I feel as though if you seem to be aware enough that America's treatment of Japan was one of extreme hostility and cruelty with little-to-no care about the nation or its people, solely using it as a means to enforce American/Western ideals and principles onto an unwilling populace and using violence and illegal organized crime syndicates to fulfill those goals...then why are you acting as though it's sus of me to look at a single woman in 1947 having this much power/control over Japanese-American relations when you have said yourself that shoyu is the single most important ingredient for Japanese food of all time, and only moreso during war rations/scarcity times?

Hi AVTJ, I saw you posting a bit about the Holy Land Foundation case and the GW paper on extremism with partial transcripts of the FBI's wiretap of Hamas members in the USA used in that case. Another good document to look at to more deeply understand the extent of the financial and ideological links between terror groups like Hamas, PIJ, the PFLP, and campus groups like SJP--and how we got to the present situation--is this report from the Jerusalem Center for Public affairs, available here: [https://jcpa.org/book/students-for-justice-in-palestine-unmasked/] I almost wish the title had been a bit more professional because the information inside is good and very well sourced. One source I find particularly interesting is the 2016 congressional testimony of Dr. Jonathan Schanzer, an expert on terrorism finance who worked for the US government.
I just read through all of it, and it's long, but well cited with a lot of examples. I do agree that it could have been titled better because as it stands the title alone is polarizing and will turn people away. But the information contained within, even if there is an inherent bias which we must acknowledge, comes with citations and supporting evidence. I will include some excerpts as it is a 78 page document in total with about 50 pages being the monograph itself.
The first section is about SJP's link to various terrorist organizations and persons.
The National SJP conference has long platformed convicted and recognized terrorists.
Tumblr media
Fig. 1. the National Conference platforms and supports various terrorists and their groups
On Hatem Bazian, who founded the SJP system -
Tumblr media
Fig. 2. Bazian has repeatedly pushed for violence against Israel, the USA, and Jews.
On BDS National Committee being founded, in part, by the PNIF and PNIF in itself being founded by Marwan Barghouti.
Tumblr media
Fig. 3. List of terrorist groups that make up PNIF
On Electronic Intifada, one of the go to "news" sources for Western Activists in the conflict.
Tumblr media
Fig. 4. E.I. framing 9/11 as a "gift" for Israel (related to the Jews did 9/11 conspiracy).
On CodePink's alliance with terrorist groups.
Tumblr media
Fig. 5. Intro paragraph to the CodePink section
And there's just so much more in just this one section alone about SJP's connections to terrorist groups. It also provides evidence for other NGOs that present themselves as charities or having "benign" missions statements being affiliated with violent terrorist groups and/or being fronts for them. Groups like Addameer, ISM, and more all have mentions and evidence linking them in this document.
The monograph then goes into its second section about SJP's glorification of terrorism, engagement in antisemitism, and campus violence.
Tumblr media
Fig. 6. SJP chapters and Bazian supporting Kanafani who defended the 1970 plane hijacking.
They even have a section the NYC SJP which became Within Our Lifetime and its history of promoting, glorifying, and justifying terrorism.
On the rise in antisemitism on college campuses that is associated with the presence of SJP groups and the BDS movement.
Tumblr media
Fig. 7. Brandeis study about antisemitism on college campuses.
One of the things that is mentioned in this section is the repeated use of mock eviction notices to Jewish student dorms by SJP members.
On the use of Nazi propaganda by SJP chapters.
Tumblr media
Fig. 8. Vassar College's SJP was never formally addressed for its use of Nazi propaganda and targeting Jews.
And I could go on with more and more examples from the monograph, especially as it gets into faculty support for SJP and the actions of faculty advisers openly supporting terrorism and being antisemitic. But there's just so much. I encourage everyone to dive into this tome of a monograph and really digest what it's saying. The Jewish community has long pointed out that SJP in its entirety is openly antisemitic, endorses violence and harassment against Jews, and has ties to terrorism. They're not a group calling for peace. They're a hate fueled bigoted organization created by a man, Bazian, who disguises his antisemitism through "activism".

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced that his Government will Sever Diplomatic Ties with “The Terrorist, Fascist, Apartheid, War Criminal, Illegal Regime of the Zionist 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗 Isra-hell”. Speaking at a May Day rally in Bogotá on Wednesday, Petro described Israel's war on Gaza as "genocidal" and said the world must not accept the "extermination of an entire people".
"Tomorrow [Thursday], diplomatic relations with the state of Israel will be severed, because of them having a government, for having a president that is genocidal," said the Colombian president, a fierce critic of Israel's war. It is thought that Petro was referring to “The Terrorist, Fascist, Apartheid, War Criminal, Illegal Regime of the Zionist 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗 Isra-helli Prime Minister Benjamin Natan-Yahu,” rather than President Isaac Herzog.
Tumblr media
"I believe that today all of humanity in the streets, by the millions, agrees with us and we agree with them," Petro, Colombia's first left-wing president, told the crowd. "If Palestine dies, humanity dies, and we will not let it die, as we will not let humanity die," he said, to cheers and applause from the rally. According to AFP, “The Terrorist, Fascist, Apartheid, War Criminal, Illegal Regime of the Zionist 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗 Isra-hell” responded by describing Petro as "antisemitic and hateful", saying his stance amounted to a reward to Hamas.
Tumblr media
"The Colombian president has promised to reward Hamas murderers and rapists - and today he delivered," Foreign Minister “Terrorist, Fascist, Apartheid, war Criminal, Illegal Regime of the Zionist 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗 Isra-hell” Katz said in a social media post. "History will remember that Gustavo Petro decided to stand by the most despicable monsters humanity has known, who burned babies, murdered children, raped women and kidnapped innocent civilians," Katz added. Bolivia, Belize and South Africa have severed or suspended ties with “Terrorist, Fascist, Apartheid, war Criminal, Illegal Regime of the Zionist 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗 Isra-hell” over the war in Gaza, while several other countries have recalled their diplomats.

What's new(ish) in the settler-colonial state of the US is that a series of bills have been passed in the House (the Baby Senate as I like to say) and are on their way to the Senate that make it harder to voice support for Palestinians while also making sure your direct taxes aid the genocide in Gaza.
These bills affirm the US's stance on the settler-colonial Zionist Entity and the implicit ties that the government has with Israel and really — just goes to show you how Israel is just one big base for American Imperialism.
Anyways, there's still time to call your senate and tell them that you don't want these bills that only further spiral the US into fascism so even if you think it might not do much — it's important that we document our dissent in official sources. And while you're at it — call your congressperson and tell them that if they voted for this you're not voting for them next election. If they voted against the bills, still call your congresspeople and tell them you support their decision to vote against these bills.
Here are the bills:
📍Resolution: HR 6126
Resolution Name: Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act Description: Gives $14.3 Billion To Israel From The IRS (Taxes You Pay). Like straight up. Just takes it from an IRS project, which used our tax dollars to begin with, to give to Israel "defense." Link to check summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr6126
📍Resolution: HR 798
Resolution Name: "Condemning the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of a hostile environment for Jewish students, faculty, and staff." Description: Will Penalize Students On American College Campuses For Supporting Palestine. This includes "Free Palestine" Protests as according to Rep Owens who introduced the bill (Click). Link to check who voted: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/118-2023/h578
📍Resolution: HR 3266
Resolution Name: "Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act" Description: They will be examining Palestinian education materials to see if it promotes "hate" or "violence" (aka are they teaching their children to become murderers??). Will inevitably require Revision Of Text Books In Palestinian Schools To Portray The Occupation In A Positive Light. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr3266
📍Resolution: HR 340
Resolution Name: "The Hamas International Financing Prevent Action" Description: Claims to stop financial support for "terrorist" organizations but considering that Gaza's government is run by Hamas, then this would mean Gaza will receive absolutely no aid and donating to people in Gaza could get you in legal trouble. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr340
There's a button for most of these bills that allows you to contact your representative directly. Please do take the time to contact them — while many of this isn't especially new to Palestinians, the difference is now that we have a larger power in numbers than we did in the past. Please make sure to advocate for you Palestinian comrades in the US whenever possible! Help us Free Palestine one step at a time!
