"If Palestine 🇵🇸 Dies, Humanity Dies, And We Are Not Going To Let It Die!" — Colombian 🇨🇴 President Gustavo Petro

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced his country will sever diplomatic relations with Israel due to its ongoing genocidal war on Gaza. At the Workers Day rally held in Bogota on Wednesday, he said: "Here before you, the Government of Change, the President of the Republic informs you that tomorrow diplomatic relations will be broken with the State of Israel, for having a government, for having a genocidal president."

"Today all of humanity, in the streets, by the millions, agrees with us, and we with them. It cannot be, it cannot return, the times of genocide, of the extermination of an entire people before our eyes," he added. "If Palestine dies, humanity dies, and we are not going to let it die," the president stressed.

The case of Karen Castaño

Karen was a 22-year-old that seemed to have a good life, had her own business and lived with her only daughter. Despite her life showing seemingly fine. On October the 4th of 2022, things changed. A Facebook post shocked the entire country of Colombia, when Karen suddenly posted her last words before jumping off a Clinic located downtown Medellín.

What she posted was a long letter expressing what happened months leading up to that day. (written in spanish) Karen confessed how the sexual abuse of which she was a victim in her childhood marked her life forever, exposing how her family knew about this abuse and never protected her, in the letter, she expressed her feelings of hatred towards the man that systematically abused her and other female members of her family for 8 years. She also expressed sadness because of her final decision of leaving her daughter as she had already decided her fate. Karen thanked her friends and some members of her family for showing support but the pain that she carried was too much to bear. She expressed her love towards her daughter and explained that she posted it online to make it public, so one day her daughter could understand the truth behind her death. Another shocking revelation was that Karen confirmed that she discovered that the man that abused her, has also abused her daughter, which led her to revive her trauma and that was what detonated again her agony. Karen described that ever since she knew this, she wasn't able to carry on the same way. Not being able to protect her daughter was something she couldn't forgive. Expressing her pain and apologizing to friends and family for her behavior during the time things started to fall apart, she wrote her final good-bye to her daughter.

After finishing. Karen ran up to the last floor of the clinic and jumped to her death, which was viewed by many people surrounding the area. Some videos have become viral of her suicide. The aftermath of her death led to a series of people marching for Women's right and for Feminicide. The sidewalk where Karen’s body rested, was a place used for tribute. Many people gathered to express their condolences and to leave candles supporting her.

Up to this day, there is no further investigation about the person who sexually abused her, though social media has targeted the man, the case remained just as a suicide.
