Precipice
Long have I teetered the edge
The miles trek of back and forth
Without moving a single step
Daring to risk another rebirth
Hesitation, a killer, one I know all to well
Staring down this abyss I must finally embrace
Cycles within cycles, lives stood still
Stasis maintained despite all my rage
Nevermind the force of will
Will this be where the web is finally untethered?
Pattern within the Tellurian rewoven to another tale?
My chance is finally here
And will answer for their own Hell.

Sign language for deaf tellurians in the modern interstellar era is often integrated into clearspeech translators by way of motion capture ear pieces and gloves. These same capture rigs can also be used for direct transcription (glossing) without translation.
Speech-to-tactile-text devices can fill the receptive communication gap, and other orientation and mobility skills and devices can fill the role of echolocation. In combination, these technologies can allow for a high degree of independence and self-expression.
Even so, many deaf tellurians still make use of personal assistants to serve as tactile sign interpreters and hearing guides. When speed and ease of use are a higher priority than strict single-person independence — as is often the case within many tellurian cultures — a skilled professional generally remains the preferred choice.
In-person communication within deaf communities also generally opts in favor of tactile sign.
#disability#speculative biology#pondering. might need to edit this but I *think* I’ve reasoned through it soundly ffff#anyway for tellurians ‘independence’ doesn’t mean ‘can you do this alone’#it means do you have choices and safety nets if things go to shit’#krtart#worldbuilding#tellurians#taking the long way#stories: taking the long way#worldbuilding: taking the long way#krt talks

📜 give me some of that juicy lore!
Mew such as Inari are what one would call Tellurian Mew. This subspecies is cute, round, and resemble a mix of a kangaroo rat and cat, with a pure Psychic typing.
Like all Mew subspecies, they have the ability to learn all moves. Though they lack the appendages for some moves, this doesn't stop them from using said moves in the least.
They are well known for their soft fur, bubble-like barriers, and their potent psyonics.
The ancestor of this subspecies is known as Terran, and they supposedly helped terraform the planet!

okay this one goes out to all of the "tellurians have tails" truthers. i love how that headcanon spread like wildfire in our itty bitty community and its stuck in my head permanently, to the point where listening to the whole series through (again), ive started thinking more about it. like... pleck is from a lower wrangus in the system, and its been proved via maginak that the higher in the wrangus system you go the more wealthy and high class it is. where pleck is a farmer, maginak is a banker. so ive wondered if only the more rural wrangus planets have tellurians with tails, while the more industrial wrangus tellurians dont??? bc of evolution??
and if so, where does that leave seesu and rolphus and hark and ballwheat (and centurion and justin and janelle)?? we never learn which planet any of them are from, even if its somewhat implied that theyre higher class than pleck. would any of them have tails? if rolphus has a tail, would the CLINTs have tails too??? we know how heavily modified they are genetically, so it be likely that their tails would be removed since theyre a deficit in combat (sticks out, weak zone, etc)
i want a class discussion
#if the crew does end up getting an animated show going i know the tellurians wont have tails#and thatll be such a hard pill for me to swallow 😔#mission to zyxx#pleck decksetter#janelle fitzmeyer#maginak#rolphus tiddle#seesu gundu#gunther ballwheat#emperor nermut bundaloy#centurion tiddle#justin ballwheat#C.L.I.N.T.

Project Update 09/01/24
Hello, Kinfolks. We're a little under 60 days from releasing Book 1: Cliath, and I wanted to give you all a quick update, provide a few book facts, and hope this lets you share the excitement the rest of us have been feeling!
Book Layout
As you might've seen from our previews, writing is transitioning from writing to copy editing and book layout! If you haven't yet, check it out! The first two chapters are done, and chapter 3 is well underway. Outside of my work on Hearthbound, this is my first major book project, the largest book I've written, and the insights I've gained are ones I think might help future community content partners publishing work on Storyteller's Vault.
On Bluesky, a few months ago, I commented that you should "plan to take as much time doing layout as you do for writing." Even if one writes the book inline right in the desktop publishing program, annotation will still add time. With a WtE book we want to not just provide an adventure and a crash course on the Tellurian, but to also be a roadmap for Storytellers, new and old alike. This has happened on three fronts. The first and most important is we're taking the time to properly index everything in a way that'll let you look up specific book information quickly. The second is how we streamline information through the liberal use of cross-referencing in footnotes. In early chapters, you read truncated summarization, and in the footnotes, you can find book sections that expand on the information you're looking for and let you tune out the things that may not be so important for you to know at the moment. The third and most important feature, however, is where able, we cite our sources for our information. Should a Storyteller wish to learn expanded information on topics, they have a direct book and page citation where they can find deep lore to help construct their chronicles.
Cracking the Bone: now in coloring flats stage
For those that haven't been following, we are returning to old form. The moment you open Book 1, you'll be greeted with a fully illustrated and colored 22-page comic book showcasing life in the Age of Heroes. This story is centered around Dante (he/they,) our protagonist, and his first steps towards his First Change as a Bitten Homid Philodox. Throughout the book, we'll follow his journey towards becoming a Cliath, forming his pack under Earwig and his first mission as a Zedakh in a pack of other Queer Garou. In successive books, you'll see him transition from a scared baby gay Cub to a respected Elder in the Eastern Concordat! We're all absolutely thrilled to follow them on their journey. Illustrating this comic is the highly talented @mekanikaltrifle, who has partnered with us to bring Dante's story to life. I have a single pane I'd like to show you, bearing in mind these are just a first pass!
Book Pricing Information
We've also finalized some of our possible pricing on this book. On Storyteller's Vault, Community Content is priced on a per-page basis. The average is considered to be 12 cents per page. I did some early market work by releasing Hearthbound on a pay-what-you-want model with a recommended pricing of $2.99, totaling roughly 8 cents per page. I advertised exclusively here and on other social media platforms to queer audiences to help gauge a fair price for materials explicitly marketed to that audience. Of those that decided to pay for copies of the book, readers paid an average of 5$ per copy for an average of 14 cents per page. Given the voluntary nature of the release, we on the team have agreed that we'll be charging a rate of 14 cents per page for this release, which puts us on par with pricing for similar releases with a matching pagecount. With layout underway, we're currently looking at a book length of around 200-250 pages. 50% of proceeds go to the publisher, and the remainder will be split equally among all contributors, myself included. I and another artist have pledged to donate the entirety of our shares toward preserving the Kalapuyan language.
Book 1: Cliath releases on Halloween day!
I'd like to give a shout out to @a-boros-named-seamus, @madamebadger, The Bohemian, @peltofash, @ar2456, and Durodragon for supporting me on ko-fi, through yours and the donations of other ko-fi sponsors, we've managed to hire cultural consultants to review about half of what's been written. Because we weren't able to review all of our written words, we've narrowed our focus onto some of our most sensitive subject-matter, and believe that what we have coming out will be the inclusive Werewolf: the Apocalypse Quickstart you've all been waiting for. Thank you! It means so much to us that we have our own sept of Kinfolk out there who believe in this project!
If you'd like to help sponsor this project, subscribe on ko-fi to help us pay Cultural Consultants to work with us! We have some cool perks for subscribing, including access to book and setting previews, the ability to give feedback on game content we're producing, personalized advice for your own tables, and can even get a shoutout right in the book.

it's funny how once you've played enough of the non vampire WoD games, it becomes incredibly apparent that kindred are so self centred they think the whole tellurian revolves around them. Out here acting like their immortal petty fights and politics and street level depression is more important than... Idk.... The potential entire unraveling of the universe? The spiritual destruction of the umbral realms? Humanity slowly degrading into poorer and poorer health due to corruption? Oblivion growing day by day to eventually consume all?
Kindred are so dumb. Put down the politics for two damn minutes and help everyone maybe??
#vtm#vampire the masquerade#world of darkness#WoD#chatter#kindred#i know that's how the game is meant to be played but man it looks so silly when you put it next to the other stories#everyone else is to some degree dedicated to trying to keep things afloat#or even to try to preserve others#but vampires? no#they're selfish as all hell

Medusa by: Clark Ashton Smith (1893-1961)
As drear and barren as the glooms of Death, It lies, a windless land of livid dawns, Nude to a desolate firmament, with hills That seem the gibbous bones of the mummied Earth, And plains whose hollow Face is rivelled deep With gullies twisting like a serpent's track. The leprous touch of Death is on its stones, Where, for his token visible, the Head Is throned upon a heap of monstrous rocks Rough-mounded like some shattered pyramid In a thwartly cloven hill-ravine, that seems The unhealing scar of huge Tellurian wars. Her lethal beauty crowned with twining snakes That mingle with her hair, the Gorgon reigns. Her eyes are clouds wherein black lightnings lurk, Yet, even as men that seek the glance of Life, The gazers come, where, coiled and serpent-swift, Those levins wait. As round an altar-base Her victims lie, distorted, blackened forms Of postured horror smitten into stone— Time caught in meshes of Eternity— Drawn back from dust and ruin of the years, And given to all the future of the world. The land is claimed of Death: the daylight comes Half-strangled in the changing webs of cloud That unseen spiders of bewildered winds Weave and unweave across the lurid sun In upper air. Below, no zephyr comes To break with life the circling spell of doom. Long vapor-serpents twist about the moon, And in the windy murkness of the sky The guttering stars are wild as candle-flames That near the socket. Thus the land shall be, And Death shall wait, throned in Medusa's eyes, Till in the irremeable webs of night The sun is snared, and the corroded moon A dust upon the gulfs, and all the stars Rotted and fallen like rivets from the sky, Letting the darkness down upon all things. Those levins wait. Lux Madriana, Excommunicated.
There is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bit of information that is sometimes mentioned in Aristasian history, and that is mention of an excommunication. Not just of an individual, but of all of Lux Madriana.
Source
This information is later repeated in the Eastminster Critical Edition and appears to have been backed up by one of the later Madrians and it appears to be related to the infamous "Schism of '83" that took place in Burtonport.
Source
But, this information has all been speculative and a bit mysterious, as many of the old-timers would simply rather not talk about it. Did it really happen? What did the excommunication entail? How was Lux Madriana excommunicated. Who the heck was Strave Ruethen? Documents archived in the Musueum of Witchcraft and Magic in the UK have been uncovered that appear to shed light on this! The transcriptions of these documents are graciously hosted on the Lambent Path blog, and you can read them in their entirety there, but there are a few parts I would like to point out. These letters have a particularly strange dating system: "13- v- 3722 AE" which I believe is using the "Temple of Artemis at Ephesus" system of dating, with the Madrian calendar. Fast forward through some math, context, and cross references, and I believe this dated is the Tellurian date of August 20th 1989. This is 6 years after The Schism, 5 years after the St. Bride's School punishment coming to light, a year into their public Romantia era, and just 7 months before news would break that one of their house-members was being physically abused. So there is a number of things that the letter writer could be vaguely referencing, but a big one that was soon to come. Now, onto the letters.
My! This is very familiar! It lines up with what the MadrianDeanicResources blog has said about the founders.
And even the writer of the letter, one Straven Reusen De Hesellum (also referred to as Straven Michael, among many other names I will get to in a bit) is shockingly similar to the rumored name "Strave Reuthen" as the man who "excommunicated Lux Madriana". Even his supposed real name of "Roger Haslam" is eerily familiar to "Hesellum". Is "Strave Reuthen aka Roger Haslam" a half remembered "Staven Reusen De Hesellum"? Was "Straven" a title as opposed to a name? Our mysterious Straven goes on to drop something of a bombshell:
It appears that the goings-on of the Burtonport household, which included the inner circle of proto-Aristasians who would later be known as Miss Martindale and Miss Priscilla Langridge, were found to be "deviants" who brought "outrageous disrepute upon the Madrian terms". What exactly this meant, we can only speculate, as by Summer of 1989 there were already several controversies surrounding the Burtonport girls. One could, perhaps, surmise that this was in relation to how they were Madrians, given he calls them "deviants" who brought "disrepute upon the Madrian terms". It doesn't seem to be something about their personal lives, but rather their teachings being tinged with the deviant. Could this be in reference to the corporal punishment that had been clearly going on in the Burtonport household under the guise of faith? I will admit that I am both a bongo and not a Filianist, but this seems like a very big deal, to be excommunicated from the Madrian community not just by other Madrians and the greater Matriarchal society, but also one of the very founders of the group. There certainly seem to be a lot of big deals in these few pages of letters, and I will certainly be circling back to them again.

What special affinities appeared to him to exist between the moon and woman? Her antiquity in preceding and surviving successive tellurian generations: her nocturnal predominance: her satellitic dependence: her luminary reflection: her constancy under all her phases, rising and setting by her appointed times, waxing and waning: the forced invariability of her aspect: her indeterminate response to inaffirmative interrogation: her potency over effluent and refluent waters: her power to enamour, to mortify, to invest with beauty, to render insane, to incite to and aid delinquency: the tranquil inscrutability of her visage: the terribility of her isolated dominant implacable resplendent propinquity: her omens of tempest and of calm: the stimulation of her light, her motion and her presence: the admonition of her craters, her arid seas, her silence: her splendour, when visible: her attraction, when invisible.

The Black Flame or: subterranean blood worship
inspired by Cyclonopedia by Reza Negarestani
In earth’s hallowed subterranean womb confined, Where shadows breathe and darkness ever reigns, A liquid flame ignites the space entwined, A sentient force within blackened veins. From ancient soil doth black gold softly seep, A whisper silent, cosmic cry forlorn, Through fractured stone its essence dark doth creep, A tellurian pulse ‘neath sky is born.
The East, a vortex deep and tempest-torn, A stage where earth and man in conflict stand, Where ancient myths in anger are reborn, And weeping springs anew in desert sand. Oil, blood of earth in dolorous descent, A weapon forged within nature’s core, The congealed biomass of epochs lent, To create heat and energy, evermore.
Petroleum, thou dark and subtle foe, In complicity we bind our fate, To forces deep beneath the sky doth grow, In shadows of a timeless state. Through warlike engines and through armor’d might, The black flame fuels unending, ceaseless strife, A dance of shadows in the darkened night, Entwined with human soul and mortal life.
The blackening, a world by fire transformed, By liquid’s unyielding grip enthralled, In myth and mind its presence has stormed, Through history’s veins it drips and calls. O worshippers of the blackened flame, In complicity we take our part, Bound to the liquid’s ancient claim, Its darkness etched upon our heart.
As tellurian whispers rise and fall, And subterranean plots do yet unfold, We seek the truth ‘neath lies that we enthrall, In oil’s embrace, a tale is told. In blackened fields, where shadows darkly bloom, And myths of old find life in form anew, We worship at the earth’s most ancient tomb, The liquid flame, both old and true.
Through punctured earth, the otherworldlies creep, Dimensional gates where shadows breathe, Our ignorance, a gift to depths that seep, In oil’s dark thrall, we blindly weave. A mirror to the sun’s consuming fire, The earth rebels in shadow’s cold embrace, An apocalyptic end, our dark desire, In blackened veins, we find our fateful place.
