I worked up courage to tell my parents tjat i have some self destructive/self harm tendances, just for my mom to not say anything and for my dad to get mad at me
Because "How dare you do that?"
And "That's the whole problem, you've just given up"
Hey there,
I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience with telling your parents of your self-destructive/ self-harm tendances. Please let me tell you that what you did was truly inspiring though, in that you were completely vulnerable and let your parents in not knowing what quite to expect. It’s just a shame that your parents didn’t respond as positively as you were wanting and/ or expecting them too. Please don’t let this stop you from letting others in though, recovery is a lot easier when you have another by your side, cheering you on!
I think it may be helpful for you to know that sometimes parents (or some people in general) will not completely understand mental health stuff no matter how much we may try to explain it to them, and I am speaking from personal experience. On the other hand though, with a bit of patience and more communication, your parents may be able to see more of the reasons why you rely on such behaviours and won’t be so harsh with their responses to you.
For example, when telling your parents, did you explain to them why you do it? I think this is really important to do if you haven’t already because it may enable them to see things from a different perspective and be more understanding of you and what you are going through.
It’s also important to acknowledge that maybe your parents were just in shock and didn’t know how to quite react to what you told them? So maybe give them a few days, for the news to sink in and then try to talk to them about it a bit more if you feel comfortable in doing so. Explain to them that this isn’t you ‘giving up’ but yet fighting and trying to get through life stuff and other things you might be struggling with. Let them know (if you feel comfortable) how they may be able to help you when you are wanting to hurt yourself. This could be anything, it could be them being there for you and just allowing you to offload and talk to them when needed, removing objects from the house that you may find/ use to hurt yourself with, or even ask and let them know that therapy may be really helpful for you if you are not currently seeing someone. Let them know that you are trying really hard to stop, but it’s not that easy. Hence why therapy may be helpful as it will allow you to explore other non-harmful coping strategies when things get really bad. Just a few ideas.
I really hope that this has helped a bit and please do let us know if we can help to support you in any other way!
I’m thinking of you and hope that you are going well!
Take care,
Lauren

we need to stop equating lack of independence with lack of maturity. people that live with their parents or have a caregiver or don't work or need more support than others aren't inherently immature. there's lots of reasons why people would be in this situation, even outside of disability (plenty of cultures out there expect people to live with their parents past what we consider the beginning of adulthood), and regardless of the reason we deserve support and community through what is already likely to be an isolating experience. don't make it worse for us

Ghosts Tell Me
~
Ghosts gather near the place where something bad is going to happen,
Danny with his ghost sense tends to notice before anyone else and tends to react outwardly before the danger even happens, gaining a reputation of seeing the future,
Ghosts also tell Danny things, causing Danny to know more about situations and the people around him, it comes of as suspicious.
~
Danny pulling away a snack from his coworker: "Careful your allergic to these ingredients!"
Coworker: "How the hell...I've never mentioned that to anyone."
~
Danny on a phone call with his friends while doing his nightly walks in Gotham: "Yeah so apparently the second Robin who is now Red Hood has very personal beef with the clown here cuz he got killed by him after being sold out by his bio mom, which really sucks for the poor guy."
Oracle who has been keeping an Eye on Danny cuz he's very suspicious from an outsiders pov: "Hey B, I think we have a problem."
~
Danny notices that the ghost in Gotham tends to gather where something bad is going to happen, the more they are the worse the situation will be: *glowing smoke leaves from his mouth* "Yikes! Very bad vibes here, nope!"
Gothamites who at this point recognize him and know the drill and quickly pack up their things to leave:

It wasn’t supposed to be a secret.
If you died while with the league, you will no longer be acknowledged to have existed, especially if you died during a mission. A disappointment will not be remembered.
The bats and birds don’t like speaking about the people they have lost, so they don’t. If someone ask about the dead, they will tell the person they don’t talk about that.
So how was Damian supposed to know that he should have told his father about his dead brother?

Sea Cryptic! Danny AU- Pt.3
[Pt.1] [Pt.2] [Pt.4] [Pt.5] [Pt.6] [Pt.7] [Pt.8] [Pt.9] [Pt.10]
“Aquaman.” Batman swept into the room, beelining straight for the suddenly apprehensive Atlantean king.
“Batman. What can I do for you?”
“Phantom. Does he pay taxes?”
“Pardon?”
Batman makes a low noise that had Aquaman’s danger senses buzzing.
“Does Phantom have to pay taxes. Towards Atlantis.”
“No…? Why?”
“He wanted money, in exchange for… information, of a delicate sort,” Batman said, diplomatically avoiding the topic of Phantom bargaining for the identities of corpses in exchange for a measly $100 dollars per identity. Like a flea market dealer, that one was.
“You encountered Phantom again?” Aquaman perked up.
“Yes. Gotham’s bay is… polluted.” Batman paused. “With victims. Of murder.”
The entire area quieted as heads turned towards the Dark Knight.
“Yes, I am… distantly aware of Gotham’s waters.” By that, Aquaman gets green around the gills whenever he turns his awareness in that direction. There’s a reason he doesn’t enter Gotham, and the Dark Knight’s ban is only half of that reason. “Ah, but you’re correct. For what purpose would Phantom need mortal currency?”
“Hn.”
“Maybe he needs some stuff?” Flash zipped to a stop next to Batman, feet tapping as he dug into the pile of snacks cradled in his arms. “Us mortals are always coming up with new things, maybe he wants to try some games or something?”
Batman tilted his head down, seriously considering Flash’s suggestion. “It’s plausible.”
“Barry, Barry, Barry. He’s old as hell, right? He probably wants to try the new booze!”
“Hal, my man!” Flash fist bumped Green Lantern, who came up. “You’re back! What happened to John?”
“Dunno. He got called somewhere that way,” Green Lantern waved a vague hand towards the left. “Had to deal with a politician or something from that area.” He shrugged, swinging an arm over Barry’s shoulders to put him in a headlock and stealing a chip.
“Huh. Anyways, would our mortal alcohol even work on a demi-god or something?”
“We should ask!” Hal turned towards Batman. “You should ask if he wants to go for a drink, spooky!”
“He’s a child.”
“He’s been around for more than a millennia, Bats.”
“Informational gathering, right, Hal?” Flashgot out of the headlock, quickly munching on his snacks to stop Green Lantern from stealing them.
“Totally. Yup.”
“…Fine.”
“Wait, are we just gonna ignore that Gotham’s waters are full of bodies?”
“Yes.”
——
“What?” Danny asked, mind half on the bags he’s dragging out of the water and the other half on the essay he has to submit in about four hours.
“Green Lantern wanted to invite you out for a drink.”
Danny turned to the stoic Gotham knight, who had his wrist computer out to log the bodies’ info the moment Danny gave him the information. Some of them even told Danny who murdered them, so Batman could start building cases with solid leads.
Danny’s only twenty. He’s not legal yet but he doesn’t want to give any clues to who he is. How is he supposed to…
Ah!
“Can’t.” Danny shrugged. “I’m not legal. I died when I was fourteen so…” Danny trailed off, speechless at the drowned puppy face Batman was giving him. What the fuck.
“Anyways, fork over my payment.”
Batman wordlessly hands him a wad of hundreds.
“What do you need cash for?” Batman suddenly asked.
“Huh? Isn’t it obvious?” Danny tucked it in. “Material things, obviously. I need a blanket,” because holy shit, Gotham is damn cold this time of year. “Anyways, see you same time next week, litterer.”
“I don’t litter.”
“Tell that to the batarangs I found under the water,” Danny grumbled. “But I’ll stop calling you that if you get a signature from Poison Ivy. I have a friend who loves her.”
“An alive friend?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know, weatherboy?”
Danny snickered and disappeared. He’s gotta cram that essay.
——
“There’s a possibility Phantom might be homeless.”
“Batman, I mean this in the nicest way, but for the love of Atlantis, please stop giving me headaches. It’s time like these I wish I stayed a lighthouse keeper.”

I live in a long-distance relationship, and struggle with expections of life - I feel like he's the only one in the whole world who doesn't judge me for anything, doesn't make me pretend; he'll welcome me with open arms no matter what. I dreamt about him last night, but our conversation was cut short because I had to wake up early. That made me upset because it meant that I had to leave the one person who I consider to be a sanctuary.
Question is, how do explain this feeling of separation anxiety; feeling unsafe when he's not by my side because he's the one person who that accepts me for everything that I am, that, if I see him around I can tell myself everything is alright - all without sounding too needy and childish? (Because my parents have said that I cry like a baby when I'm upset, even though I'm legally an adult.) I feel horribly vulnerable, as a young, severely disabled woman (wheelchair-bound, self-dx ASD with geeky interests) when I go outside, so my S/O is the only person who makes me feel safe - I need a protector. How do I explain this feeling to parents?
Hey there,
I think that in life everyone needs that one person that helps us to feel safe and secure in life. Unfortunately for most people this isn’t our parents, and so we have to get that protectiveness from someone else. It sounds as though you have found someone great to give you this feeling but it sounds like you are having great difficulty in communicating this with your parents.
I think what you wrote in your Ask explains perfectly about how you feel with your partner when he is not around, that feeling of not feeling safe and feeling of complete vulnerability. It’s more than OK to feel needy, and this does not make you a cry baby at all or being overly clingy, it just means you are just human like everyone else! I can’t even imagine how it must feel to be so disabled but I think it is important to communicate to your parents how you feel like you mentioned.
Sometimes it can be easier to write things down, kind of like in a letter format when we need to communicate or tell someone something as it can give us time to think about what it is we would like to say and enable us to say it in a way that we would like to say it. So this is definitely something to think about and especially if you find talking difficult.
I really hope that this has helped a bit and please do let us know if we can help to support you in any other way!
I’m thinking of you and hope that you are going well!
Take care,
Lauren

NU UH
Jack Fenton, dialed his younger sister's phone number as he gazed apologetically at the family of bats, that was hanging around in his living room. he impatiently waited for the other party to pick up.
The Bat family remained stoic as they observed the man, they had or Batman had ordered to put the call on speaker, if ever the phone was answered, Robin had stared at the doorway leading to the kitchen there stood Jack's supposed oldest daughter Jazz. who only stared amused at her father's antics much to Robin's confusion.
finally after a grueling 10 seconds wait, the call was finally answered.
Robin held his breath awaiting for the voice he was expecting for.
"Yes, Ahki?" Talia's voice resonated, from the phone. making everyone's eyes except the Fenton family widen.
'what? mother never told me she had a brother.' Damian thought as he took a peek at his father's face who was scrunched up in confusion. same for the rest of his family.
"Talia, my dear ukht, I've heard from a few birds and bats that you have taken my son. on his fieldtrip." Jack said, his nervous and outgoing personality vanishing and what took place was a serious and angry tone of a father as soon as heard the caller's voice, making everyone in the room shudder at the sudden cold atmosphere while the oldest daughter remained composed and unbothered as she watched.
Silence came from the other side of the phone, before answering "It seems i have." Talia answered back, you can here the voice of a boy in the background asking if it was his dad.
"Stop with this false innocence of yours, bring my son back immediately, partly alive and safe." Jack stated, much to the Bats and birds confusion.
Silence once again, as the phone remained quiet seemingly put down on a table with a few whispers and shuffling. before it was picked up once again.
"Nu uh." was the only thing Talia said as she hang up.
everyone paused.
"The fuck you mean 'Nu uh'?!" Jack yelled, at his phone. While his wife walked their daughter's side who was laughing her ass off, confused she looked at the bats then at her husband and then just sighed.
"Dinner's Ready." she only said as she retreated back at to the kitchen.
