Sometimes I remember that, even with seven years of choir experience (including three years of select choir, three years of county choir, and one year in women's choir) I never really learned to sight read music.

Like I can see when notes go up and down and can see how many beats it might be, but I can't look at it and equate the note on the page to the sound? I just learned my parts by repeating back what the choir directors told me to sing.

And it's not that my teachers from grades 6 to 12 didn't try to teach us, it just never fully computed in my brain.

does anyone else have this type of I guess sensitivity with very bright shades of red? I once told an artist (a professiona, high-payying artist) that I couldn’t look at bright red for too long, it affected my sight for a while, and that maybe it was my eyes but if I stared at bright red for too long, when I moved my eyes everything else was sort of filtered through the red, like it burnt into my cornea, which isn’t that fucked up and it’s actually a normal phenomenon, but this bitch... this high paying artist... looked at me like I had 3 eyes and went “what? that doesn’t make any sense” and made fun of me.
