This clown is up for reelection. Drag him on Texas based social media and websites.
This mother f—ker is on twitter praising the rescue operation that liberated 4 Israelis from Hamas terrorists but not mentioning the nearly three hundred civilian deaths and over 400 injured civilians that were “collateral damage.” He’s promising more military aid and calling for more such brutal raids.
Everyone who is against Israel’s brutal actions in Gaza needs to drag this bastard as much as they can. He’s believed to be the largest recipient of AIPAC money and he’s Netanyahu’s loudest champion in Congress. Time for him to pay for his sins at the ballot box.

why?
Because they don’t accept any criticism.
I don’t regret many things in my life nor would I ever take back what I said and did but I truly wish I had not fallen into their trap. I was followed and surveilled and in the end they did it openly wanting me to know that they knew where I was going and who I was meeting with, making their presence felt. It resembles scientology in a way; if you’re a persona non grata someone is always standing near you, harassing you, taking pictures and not answering any questions if they’re spoken to. It drives you mad.
My best friend’s mother was born in Tel Aviv – but later emigrated to the UK because she didn’t agree with the politics – so he has some extended family in Israel. They’re activists and wanted to meet us and I also wanted to meet a OB/GYN colleague/activist in Al-Khalil I’d only ever spoken to online and on the phone. We picked Eurovision week because we thought it wouldn’t draw attention since we go every year. My mother’s side were active members of NSDAP so like whatever, I knew I’d be on some naughty list despite having cut off all ties to my family the day I turned 18. Unfortunately, Gary was also a target right away because of his family connections and he was understandably very frightened and distressed when he was approached and suddenly questioned about it. At the end of the week I lost my temper and we were escorted to our gate at Ben Gurion. I was never given a court order or any paper, they just took more pictures and told me that I wouldn’t be able to board a flight to Israel ever again and I believe them, they’re fucking thorough in their suppression of any criticism. Gary doesn’t know his status but has been too scared to even try to go back.
No-one took video, nothing went viral. I can’t see my friends anymore. They defeated me. I didn’t gain anything and I also didn’t help anyone with my loud TED talk titled “Israel is a terrorist state”.

In addition to the clown car in the House of Representatives, certain Senate Republicans like Ted "Cancún" Cruz and Tommy Tuberville are creating bottlenecks for appointments related to national security and foreign relations. One of the appointments caught in that bottleneck is former Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew who has been nominated as ambassador to Israel.
Senate Democrats are pushing aggressively for quick confirmation of Jack Lew as ambassador to Israel after the attack by Hamas on Saturday. Lew was nominated in early September. But the attack, widely condemned by both parties and across the ideological spectrum, will kick the effort into high gear. It will jump start a broader debate over aid to Israel in an already chaotic fall. [ ... ] Lawmakers are also trying to supply aid to Ukraine after leaving it out of the last spending bill. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said that ”failure to support friends under attack — in Kyiv or Tel Aviv — will only embolden the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism and fellow authoritarians.” [ ... ] Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has previously put holds on some Biden administration nominees for posts related to the Middle East, raising questions about how quickly Lew could move through the Senate. A spokesperson on Saturday said Cruz has not yet met with Lew but indicated deep concerns about administration nominees related to Israel. [ ... ] Biden administration officials also are eager to see Lew confirmed in light of the Saturday’s attacks in Israel. In a conference call Saturday, one senior official noted that he has yet to be confirmed. “Obviously it would be great to have him on the ground in Israel,” the official said. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) is preventing many military promotions from a quick vote in protest over the Pentagon’s abortion travel policy. “This is serious business. If he wants to change healthcare policy at DOD, he can introduce a bill. But he cannot undermine our ability to help our allies and partners,” Schatz said on Saturday.
Tommy Tuberville is a nitwit trying to impress anti-abortion extremists back in Alabama by preventing Senate confirmation for officers in the US Armed Forces. Lyin' Ted Cruz is up for re-election in 2024 and is eager to display his hardline anti-Biden credentials in Texas by preventing the US embassy in Israel from having an ambassador at a crucial time.
If you live in Alabama or Texas, contact Tuberville or Cruz and tell them to quit making life easy for America's enemies and international terrorists.

Boeing leadership visits Israel to confirm support with the sale of F-15IA and KC-46 jets
Boeing leader Ted Colbert met with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense of Israel, showing the company's commitment to support the 'Israel long arm', with F-15IA jets and KC-46 tankers.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 02/23/23 - 08:46 in Military
The head of the defense wing of aircraft manufacturer Boeing was in Israel on Sunday and Monday to advance the supply of new and long-awaited refueling planes and fighters to the Israeli Air Force, seeking to increase its capacity to attack Iran.
Speaking to reporters at Boeing Israel offices in Tel Aviv, Ted Colbert, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, said the company would provide Israel with 25 F-15IA fighters - the Israeli variant of the F-15EX forward - with options for 25 more.
The military is seeking to increase and upgrade its existing F-15 fleet, which can carry the kind of heavy weaponry that Israel would need to penetrate Iran's nuclear facilities, most of which are buried underground.
Tumblr media
Colbert said that the payload capacity of the F-15EX is “unparalleled” and, combined with the range of the KC-46 refueling planes, “would support Israel’s long arm.”
According to Boeing, the new F-15 “loads more weapons than any other fighter in its class and can launch hypersonic weapons up to 7 meters long and weigh up to 7,000 pounds”.
Colbert said that the company expects to eventually replace Israel's entire aged F-15I fleet, as long as Israel decides to move forward with the acquisition of more.
Tumblr media
The president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Ted Colbert, meets with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the PMO in Jerusalem, February 19, 2023. (Kobi Gideon/GPO)
“My visit is to ensure that it is absolutely and positively clear that we remain committed to serving Israel, and this is expressed through two major programs with the Israeli government and the military, the F-15IA and the KC-46,” he said.
“We believe that these represent the right capabilities to support Israel’s long arm, to support missions today and in the future,” Colbert said in an apparent reference to a possible attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
In January, Israel sent a formal request to the United States to buy the new F-15 fighters.
Colbert met on Sunday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and on Monday with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to discuss the supply of F-15 jets and KC-46 tankers and other general matters.
There is no schedule yet, but Israel would probably receive the new jets in 2028. Israel is expected to press for faster delivery. Colbert said Boeing was working “as soon as possible” to supply the aircraft to Israel as quickly as possible.
Tumblr media
Many of Israel's F-15 fighters - known in Hebrew as "Baz" or "Falcon" - were first built and delivered in the 1970s, although they were updated and reformed in the mid-decades.
If the agreement is approved and Israel buys the F-15s again, this will mark the first acquisition of Boeing fighters by the Israeli Air Force in two decades. In the following years, Israel bought 100 F-16 jets and another 50 stealth F-35 jets from Boeing's main competitor, Lockheed Martin.
The first of the four KC-46 tankers, which Israel would need to conduct an attack on Iran, is still scheduled to be delivered in 2025. Israel asked for this date to be postponed - which would require the U.S. to give up its place in line to receive Boeing planes - but Washington has so far rejected the request.
The multifunctional aircraft enables in-air refueling for fighters and other aircraft, but can also be used for military transport.
Tumblr media
For Israel, aircraft are considered necessary to carry out large potential attacks against targets in Iran, about 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) from Israel and far outside the normal range of Israeli jets.
The KC-46 aircraft is expected to replace the current fleet of old Israeli Air Force refueling aircraft, which includes the KC-130 Hercules and a converted Boeing 707.
Under an agreement last year, Israel also has the option of buying four more KC-46 planes in the future.
The first KC-46 was delivered to the U.S. Air Force in 2019 and the service ordered 179 of the planes, with deliveries expected to occur by 2027.
Tumblr media
In a series of farewell interviews last month, IDF chief of staff Aviv Kohavi reiterated that Iran was the main focus of the Israeli armed forces, which were working to ensure that they had the ability to act alone, if necessary, to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Due to the growing uncertainty regarding Iran's return to the 2015 nuclear agreement with Western powers, in the last two years IDF has intensified efforts to prepare a credible military threat against Tehran nuclear facilities.
Israel has been pressuring the U.S. to prepare military contingency plans to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. U.S. President Joe Biden said he was prepared to use military force if necessary, but still prefers to exhaust the diplomatic route first.

last song: Figure It Out by Royal Blood, Will Of The People by Muse and Angels by Robbie Williams
sweet/spicy/savory: spicy! I’m slowly re-building my lost tolerance for it, though
fav alcoholic drink: I very rarely drink at the moment, but Gin Tonic is an all-time favourite. I’ve also discovered a very tasty mock-Sangria in Tel Aviv a few weeks ago
traditional or modern: Huh?
favourite writer: I’d say John Grisham, Tad Williams, James S.A. Corey and C.S. Lewis
favourite dessert: Tiramisu and vanille pudding (Dr. Oetker!)
fav rapper: I’ve never been that much into rap-music, but I’m proud to say that I know a lot of Eminem-songs by heart pretty well
favourite soccer/hockey/tennis player: soccer/football: Uwe Seeler, a very kind and soft-spoken player from Hamburg who sadly passed away not too long ago
colours of my bedroom: white with lots of pictures on the wall
favourite politician: nah, I don’t know... nah.
loyalty or lust: loyalty. I like it when people are willing to commit (to friendship, relationships, liking a band, whatever)
pizza or pasta: If I have to chose, definitely pizza
vegan/veggie: I really do enjoy a good medium-rare steak. Being in cancer treatment also means that it isn’t the best idea to go completely veggie/vegan and that I should steer away from too much soy products due to negative effects on my health. And after dropping a few kilos unvoluntarily I just try to eat everything that looks and smells good, and that includes meatstuff for me, so...
favourite time period: I used to love ancient greek stuff, but nowadays I’m super interested in the era of the Wars Of Roses in England. It’s such a drama!
love or hate: always love. That’s why I’ve never understood hate-watching or its equivalents hate-reading and hate-listening. If I hate something, I try to put it out of my head.
last series watched: Tehran and Ted Lasso (weird combination, I know). I really, really tried to get into Andor (I love Star Wars), but it kinda did nothing for me?
classical or rock: both. I’m a big fan of live music, and either a symphonic orchestra or Rammstein can rock my socks.
fairy or dragons: Uh, neither, I guess... Although I like the elf-like Sithi in Tad William’s Dragonbone Throne series, because they’re badass and at the same time deeply flawed beings.
GOT or LOTR: I’d pick LOTR because I got a bit fed up with GOT in the end, both with the books and the series (and seriously, the next book will NEVER come out, I’m sure)

WAR DAY 7️⃣1️⃣8️⃣1️⃣ 🍬 "That the lie of Israel continues to be embraced by the ruling elites—there is no daylight between statements in defense of Israeli war crimes by Nancy Pelosi and Ted Cruz—and used as a foundation for any discussion of Israel is a testament to the corrupting power of money, in this case that of the Israel lobby, and the bankruptcy of a political system of legalized bribery that has surrendered its autonomy and its principles to its major donors. It is also a stunning example of how colonial settler projects, and this is true in the United States, always carry out cultural genocide so they can exist in a suspended state of myth and historical amnesia to legitimize themselves.
"The Israel lobby has shamelessly used its immense political clout to demand that Americans take de facto loyalty oaths to Israel. The passage by 35 state legislatures of Israel lobby-backed legislation requiring their workers and contractors, under threat of dismissal, to sign a pro-Israel oath and promise not to support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement is a mockery of our Constitutional right of free speech. Israel has lobbied the U.S. State Department to redefine anti-Semitism under a three-point test known as the Three Ds: the making of statements that 'demonize' Israel; statements that apply 'double standards' for Israel; statements that 'delegitimize' the state of Israel. This definition of anti-Semitism is being pushed by the Israel lobby in state legislatures and on college campuses.
"The Israel lobby spies in the United States, often at the direction of Israel’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs, on those who speak up for the rights of Palestinians. It wages public smear campaigns and blacklists defenders of Palestinian rights–including the Jewish historian Norman Finkelstein; former U.N. Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Territories, Richard Falk, also Jewish; and university students, many of them Jewish, in organizations such as Students for Justice in Palestine.
"The Israel lobby has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to manipulate U.S. elections, far beyond anything alleged to have been carried out by Russia, China or any other country. The heavy-handed interference by Israel in the American political system, which includes operatives and donors bundling together hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions in every U.S. congressional district to bankroll compliant candidates, is documented in the Al-Jazeera four-part series 'The Lobby.' Israel managed to block 'The Lobby' from being broadcast.
"In the film, a pirated copy of which is available on the website Electronic Intifada, the leaders of the Israel lobby are repeatedly captured on a reporter’s hidden camera explaining how they, backed by the intelligence services within Israel, attack and silence American critics and use massive cash donations to buy politicians. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secured the unconstitutional invitation by then-House Speaker John Boehner to address Congress in 2015 to denounce President Barack Obama’s Iranian nuclear agreement.
"Netanyahu’s open defiance of Obama and alliance with the Republican Party, however, did not stop Obama in 2014 from authorizing a 10-year $38 billion military aid package to Israel, a sad commentary on how captive American politics is to Israeli interests."
—Shift to the Far-Right
"The investment by Israel and is backers is worth it, especially when you consider that the U.S. has also spent over $6 trillion during the last 20 years fighting futile wars that Israel and its lobby pushed for in the Middle East. These wars are the greatest strategic debacle in American history, accelerating the decline of the American empire, bankrupting the nation at a time of economic stagnation and mounting poverty, and turning huge parts of the globe against us. They serve Israel’s interests, not ours.
"The longer the mendacious Israeli narrative is embraced, the more empowered become the racists, bigots, conspiracy theorists and far-right hate groups inside and outside Israel. This steady shift to the far right in Israel has fostered an alliance between Israel and the Christian right, many of whom are anti-Semites. The more Israel and the Israel lobby level the charge of anti-Semitism against those who speak up for Palestinian rights, as they did against British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, the more they embolden the real anti-Semites.
"Racism, including anti-Semitism, is dangerous. It is not only bad for the Jews. It is bad for everyone. It empowers the dark forces of ethnic and religious hatred on the extremes. Netanyahu’s racist government has built alliances with far-right leaders in Hungary, India, and Brazil, and was closely allied with Donald Trump. Racists and ethnic chauvinists, as I saw in the wars in the former Yugoslavia, feed off of each other. They divide societies into polarized, antagonistic camps that only speak in the language of violence. The radical jihadists need Israel to justify their violence, just as Israel needs the radical jihadists to justify its violence. These extremists are ideological twins.
"This polarization fosters a fearful, militarized society. It permits the ruling elites in Israel, as in the United States, to dismantle civil liberties in the name of national security. Israel runs training programs for militarized police, including from the United States. It is a global player in the multibillion-dollar drone industry, competing against China and the United States.
"It oversees hundreds of cyber-surveillance startups whose espionage innovations, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, have been utilized abroad 'to locate and detain human rights activists, persecute members of the LGBT community, silence citizens critical of their governments, and even fabricate cases of blasphemy against Islam in Muslim countries that don’t maintain formal relations with Israel.'
"Israel, like the United States, has been poisoned by the psychosis of permanent war. One million Israelis, many of them among the most enlightened and educated, have left the country. Its most courageous human rights campaigners, intellectuals and journalists—Israeli and Palestinian—endure constant government surveillance, arbitrary arrests and vicious government-run smear campaigns. Mobs and vigilantes, including thugs from right-wing youth groups such as Im Tirtzu, physically assault dissidents, Palestinians, Israeli Arabs and African immigrants in the slums of Tel Aviv. These Jewish extremists have targeted Palestinians in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, demanding their expulsion.
"They are supported by an array of anti-Arab groups including the Otzma Yehudit Party, the ideological descendant of the outlawed Kach party, the Lehava movement, which calls for all Palestinians in Israel and the occupied territories to be expelled to surrounding Arab states, and La Familia, far-right soccer hooligans. Lehava in Hebrew means 'flame' and is the acronym for 'Prevention of Assimilation in the Holy Land.' Mobs of these Jewish fanatics parade through Palestinian neighborhoods, including in occupied East Jerusalem, protected by Israeli police, shouting to the Palestinians who live there 'Death to the Arabs,' which is also a popular chant at Israeli soccer matches.
"Israel has pushed through a series of discriminatory laws against non-Jews that echo the racist Nuremberg Laws that disenfranchised Jews in Nazi Germany. The Communities Acceptance Law, for example, permits 'small, exclusively Jewish towns planted across Israel’s Galilee region to formally reject applicants for residency on the grounds of “suitability to the community’s fundamental outlook.”' Israel’s educational system, starting in primary school, uses the Holocaust to portray Jews as eternal victims. This victimhood is an indoctrination machine used to justify racism, Islamophobia, religious chauvinism and the deification of the Israeli military.
"There are many parallels between the deformities that grip Israel and the deformities that grip the United States. The two countries are moving at warp speed towards a 21st century fascism, cloaked in religious language, which will revoke what remains of our civil liberties and snuff out our anemic democracies. The failure of the United States to stand up for the rule of law, to demand that the Palestinians, powerless and friendless, even in the Arab world, be granted basic human rights mirrors the abandonment of the vulnerable within our own society."

Week 1
Comparative Literature: History, Theories, Ideologies: Introduction.
In the first week of the course we shall discuss what is comparative literature; its origins; the ideologies that are implicated in the discipline; how it has developed, the questions that have been addressed to it in more recent times, the challenges it faces today; what are some of the traditional methods it employs to study texts; how it sees the relationship between language, culture, reading and understanding texts; its relationship with translation and with “world literature”. We shall then consider some brief texts to ‘see’ and ‘do’ comparative literature in practice.

Draft Ratings - Fantasy EPL 2021
Yes, spent way too much time on this. But it had to be done.
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: C+
-        Overview: Big Greenery. The name says it all. Bradley AKA “Ted Lasso” went for power with this year’s draft. Mr. Lasso may have found a loophole in the current fantasy format and will surely look to win his key battles in the air. With the likes of Van Dijk, Wan B, Tyrone Mings, Declan, Bissouma, Jannik, and the monstrous Benteke, you know that racking the 0.5’s Aerial Duels will occur week in and week out. The towering prowess of the squad may nod a couple baggers, but will certainly score a few own goals. However, it must be said, do not underestimate the man that may consider “football” his 5th favorite sport to watch and made the 2015 playoffs final.
-        Threat: Benteke
-        Sleeper: Mbuemo (hate saying that word)
-        Last remark: Healthy status of the entire squad is the only reason there is (+) tailing the C rating.

Draft Rating: B-
-        Overview: You would think being an Arsenal fan, Chasqui would hedge his bets, learn from past mistakes, and keep Arsenal picks to a minimum. But it seems like the true gunner spirit can never be suppressed. Nor relied on. Despite having the best defender in the league, this squad seems to lack depth and the almighty 90-minute studs. What IS going for him, though, is his new team name. With an updated name like Chasqui, and a fresh tattoo to match, this manager will never let a shitty draft ruin his year!
-        Threat: Emi Martinez
-        Sleeper: Ivan Toney
-        Last remark: Chasqui, the Peruvian messenger will surely have a message for me after this gets published.
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: A
-        Overview: This team may have it all. His Kinko’s cheat sheet print out may have proven to be a wise move. Unlike Chasqui, Jon Fryer wants to improve on previous historical mishaps. Did he choose Man City players? Most definitely. But, did he pick the seemingly obvious Cityzen starters this year? Absolutely, mate. On top of that, the dark tabloid freaks still say HurriKANE has a chance at wearing his colors this year. Either way, his #1 pick guarantees goals. With a sneaker Shaw #2 pick, a late Auba #5 pick, and even a #9 Wilson pick, Jon Fryer may have decent season. However, wildcard Jonnie may need to be wary of the new FAAB spending budget. He has the tendencies to go all in, so let’s hope City doesn’t sign anyone else during the transfer window close, for his own sake.
-        Threat: Harry Kane
-        Sleeper: Milot Rashica
-        Last remark: Please get a new team name. Barn!

Draft Rating: B+
-        Overview: jvdV has 2 laws in managerial handbook: (1) Being the staunch defender that he is in REAL life, he will always draft 6 defenders. And there will always be a Ben Mee type player somewhere in there focalizing his back line. (2) Allan Saint Maximin and Richarlison belong to him. This man does not care if he picks them up in 2nd and 3rd round. They are his, do not even attempt to trade. The day that jvdV does not get to manage this pair, the world may slowly stop spinning, and begin spinning backwards.
-        Threat: Romelu Lukaku
-        Sleeper: None (lol)
-        Last remark: The Vardy Party is always on, it never stops.
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: B-
-        Overview: Welcome to the league Phil! Now let’s talk about Cesc. The “Brentford” of the league, this wiz have may have a novato stamp on his forehead, but he surely has the tendency to turn his analytical art into a full blown legendary Leeds squad, capable of knocking down the top dawgs. With his Bundesliga 2 turtleneck, his never-before-seen data spreadsheet, and his Mount/Coufal/Harrison picks, this manager does not seem like he is here to mess about. Upon squad review, gaps exist. So much so, that at the time of this notation, he has already dropped 4 players. Best of luck to the Welsh gentleman!
-        Threat: Mason Mount
-        Sleeper: Leon Bailey
-        Last remark: No one tell him that he has to actually wake up sometimes early on weekends, cuz that boy can sleep!
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: A+
-        Overview: Ellis got the Poodle Magic that every manager desires on draft day. Despite drafting a potentially injury-ridden Eze (that he was completely blind to), the team takes the cake from the sheer looks of it. The best pundits will tell you to snatch a premier defender in the 1st couple rounds, but the lad from Shrewsbury selfishly robbed all with 2, followed by a Werner and Rashford 5th / 6th round out. On top of all that, he commendably offered Jimenez a spot on his team. Not only a great manager, but charitable. Hats off.
-        Threat: Thomas Soucek
-        Sleeper: Patson Daka
-        Last remark: Hopefully the Wolves’ wingbacks don’t whip in too many crosses to the Mexi talisman. Feet only.
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: C
-        Overview: Little did we know but looks like Evan may have some long-lost family in Leeds! That, or, he has a lot of trust in Bielsa. With 4 players from Leeds, and interestingly so, this team may have a similar level of volatility. A quick peek at the crystal ball will tell you that this team’s future has lots of massive point hauls with demanding victories, surely, but the hangovers could be worse, just like mine from yesterday’s draft. With a couple depth tweaks, the team may take him out from beneath the bottom of the barrel.
-        Threat: Jack Grealish (or Chris Wood, actually)
-        Sleeper: Kalvin Philips
-        Last remark: If you don’t get a couple quick victories and bounce from last season, then you may always walk alone.
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: A-
-        Overview: Sonless is no longer sonless. Last season proved to be difficult without his star man, so he’s gone the extra mile this year to snatch him quick and change his luck. The question is… how will his #1 pick perform if his lethal strike partner vanishes off to another club? Time will tell. Until then, his defensive moves were that of an astute gaffer. His midfield will demand set plays and minutes. And his attack is good enough to pop him into the upper half off the table.
-        Threat: Son
-        Sleeper: Ibrahima Konate
-        Last remark: Lewis Dunk is a world class defender. Anyone that disagrees is an imposter.
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: A-
-        Overview: Some may say he has the advantage living 10 hours ahead in Tel Aviv, where he gets to drink pints during matches without remorse under the shadows of the moon, compared to the rest of us that have to feel the wrath of our girlfriends hearing our 6AM Saturday alarm clocks, but either way, he is the reigning champ with the #1 pick.  Anyone with Bruno Fernandes is destined for greatness. It’s just the way it is. Throw in the likes of the Tarkowski commander, the rough diamond of Benrama, and a triggering Leicester midfield, and this gaffa may be super gluing his hands to the imaginary cup.
-        Threat: Bruno Fernandes
-        Sleeper: Adam Armstrong
-        Last remark: Will the Zern ever give up on Hudson Odoi to make his big splash? Don’t stay awake for this one!
Tumblr media
Draft Rating: A+
-        Overview: The fact of the matter is gold talks. Even though he is undoubtedly the best fantasy manager, he has yet to get 1st place. EVER. Call it the commissioner’s curse. But this year, things are different. You know why? Because Messi left Barcelona. This will crack the plates, shift the fault lines, and force his misfortunes to flip over into luck. Somehow, with 4th pick, he landed last years PFA player of the year, KDB. Likewise with a 11th Ziyech pick. That already has to mean something. The only reason this rating did not get A++, is because his team may be heavily relying on some unknown sleepers. That, and he never picks a solid backline, which directly translates to his lack of defending in REAL life. But that’s just his game!
-        Threat: KDB
-        Sleeper: Cucho Hernandez
-        Last remark: If he were to rely less on players that speak Latin-rooted languages, then he may actually have a chance.

93 years ago today, on 15 May 1927, Assia Esther Gutmann was born in Berlin, Germany to her Jewish father Lew (Lonya) Gutmann from Latvia (with roots in the Ukraine) and to her  Lutheran German mother Elizabetha (Lisa) Bertha Margarete (née Gaedecke). Her siter Celia was born on 22 September 1929.
At the time of Assia’s birth, her parents were living in Berlin Charlottenburg in Germany and Celia later remembered that “We were brought up like any German girl, without a trace of Jewishness. The house rules and manners were German, but the backbone was Russian”.
After Hitler was appointed chancellor on 30 January 1933 and living in Germany became too dangerous, her parents decided to leave Germany for Pisa, Italy and to subsequently move to Tel-Aviv in the British-mandated territory of Palestine.
In 1943, Assia met the British soldier John Steele, whom she followed to England in September 1946 and they married on 17 May 1947. As her biographers Yehuda Koren and Eilat Negev wrote in an article in The Telegraph in 2006 "she had entered an essentially loveless marriage with an Englishman at the age of 20 – largely to enable her family to emigrate to England." In April 1948, the couple emigrated to Vancouver, Canada and divorced one year later. In the meantime, her family also moved to Canada and they were all living together again.
Assia enrolled at the University of British Columbia where she studied art. She met her second husband Richard Lipsey on 21 October 1952 and moved to London, England with him one year later and back to Canada in 1956.
In the same year, Assia met the Canadian poet Davil Wevill whom she instantly began an affair with. In 1959, Assia and Richard Lipsey decided to separate and Assia went with David to Burma, now Myanmar. When the divorce was through in early 1960, Assia and David married on 16 May 1960 in Rangoon (Yangon), Burma.
After coming back in London the same year, they were apartment hunting in the summer of 1961, when they came across the apartment ad for 3 Chalcot Square, near Primrose Hill; the apartment Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes wanted to sublet. Sylvia and Ted immediately liked the couple and became friends with Assia and David. In May 1962, they invited to visit them at Court Green in Devon. Numerous sources and Hughes’ own poem “Dreamers”, published in Birthday Letters in 1998, claim that it was during the visit that Ted fell under Assia’s spell. A few weeks later, they started an affair.
After Sylvia Plath’s death, Assia moved to Court Green where she lived with Ted and his children Frieda and Nicholas. On 3 March 1965, she gave birth to her daughter Alexandra Tatiana Elise, nicknamed Shura, while still being married to David.
However, she was not happy in Devon; she felt haunted by Sylvia’s memory and her relationship with Ted began to crumble because he refused to commit to her and was having various affairs. In 1968, Assia moved with Shura to London. In February 1969, her divorce from David was finalized. And just one month later, she killed herself and her daughter on 23 March 1969 in the same manner Sylvia Plath committed suicide.
