Just finished this book called 'La cuisinière des Kennedy' by Valérie Paturaud (April 2024). It tells the story of Mrs. Andrée Imbert, a french orphan who became the cook of the Kennedys and more precisely, the cook of the EMKs for many years. It was really interesting but there was too many details regarding cooking for my taste (definitely not one of my interests lol but I mean, you have to expect it with such a title).

What really surprised me was how Mrs. Imbert seemed to be on Ted's side in the Joan-Ted marriage. She described Joan as someone who didn't interact much with the help other than discussing the kids, the menu, etc. She also stated that Joan started drinking before 1964 - but so did Ted and she acknowledges it. When they divorced, it was said that Mrs. Imbert said 'it was bound to happen' and 'poor Mr. Ted' (!!! WHAT?). Doesn't sound like Joan to me, unless she was not doing well. I'm happy to know though that Ted seemed like a good boss, caring, and who gave Mrs. Imbert a pension every month for the rest of her life.
