Today my 17 year old daughter picked up her best friend and drove to the movies.

They made it there and back, safe and sound.

Whew.

Out of all the parenting milestones, I am absolutely struggling the most with the driving.

I'm going to be the one teaching my 27 year old wife to drive (I'm 31 and have been driving for 16 years) and I'm so excited to teach her how to drive safely and correctly because the amount of teens I see making bad and possibly life-changing (and deadly) choices is insane. I don't think driving tests are as strict in Canada as they are in the US, so a lot more people pass when it's clear that they aren't prepared for driving alone and without support.

I've almost rear-ended 4 different teenagers in the past 3 months because they either missed their turn or got lost and just came to a dead stop in the middle of a road with a speed limit of 50-60 kmph, then just sat there without their hazards on. It's fucking terrifying, and then you honk your horn and they get all pissy when they almost killed you and the person behind you, and possibly themselves! And that's in Alberta, Canada! Where speed limits are much slower than in the US like I'm used to! These kids would literally kill themselves and others if they drove in a big city like Atlanta, Georgia, or anywhere in Florida (among other places in the US)! It makes me so angry that I just want to petition that everyone in Canada has to retake their driving test, no matter their age or how recently they've gotten their license, and take a driving test with an American DMV associate. When I got my license in the US when I was a young teen, the lady graded HARSHLY, as you should since you're driving a fucking death machine. I feel like they're far too lenient in this province.

I am BEGGING younger drivers. drive carefully. give yourself room. for fuck's sake use your turn signals and don't fucking weave thru traffic. this is not a video game, this is real life and if you get into an accident, you could get killed or kill someone else VERY easily

as I read green arrow '01 I've been going through mia's simultaneous cameos in other runs, and that's how I found out about this little arc in gotham central #33-36, aptly named "dead robin".

the story starts when they find the corpse of a young boy dressed in a high quality robin costume, with the tools to match, prompting the cops to wonder if he's the real robin, aka tim (who has a cameo here and there). at the end of the second issue a second dead boy appears, proving this was no accident, but that in fact they're likely facing a serial killer. a third boy (third robin) is saved just in time before the end. the man behind it turns out to be a journalist obsessed with costumed vigilantes, who wanted to be "part of their world."

what drives me insane about this is the timing. because if you look at the publication dates, this story arc started right after jason unmasks himself before bruce in batman #641, and it finishes around the time utrh picks up again (you know, after that little detour where bruce ~investigates steph's death just so he can be exonerated from it, at the cost of character-assassinating another female character).

just imagining that while jason was back in gotham doing All That, this was all happening, with bruce clearly going berserk during it (entering arkham and assaulting every immate, breaking a cop's nose, scaring the living crap out of the perpetrator... and I know it's simply about lack of synergy, but it's interesting to me to think that for all of that, he -rightly!- must've not suspected jason).

as I said. insane asñflkjdsf. I can't wait to use it in fic.

DRIVER ED ONLINE FOR LEARNERS PERMIT

entranced by whatever that rindt-marko-vettel web is. helmut marko and jochen rindt were best friends and raced together. sebastian vettel reminds helmut marko of jochen rindt. sebastian vettel is a great fan of jochen rindt. did seb become a rindt fan because marko told him stories of him. is marko obsessed with seb because he reminds him of his friend. i have so many questions. there's a story about rindt and marko driving to the german gp at the nürburgring and sleeping next to the track to get woken up by von trips and hill practicing in their ferraris the next morning and rindt looked at them and said to marko that that was what he wanted to do too, become a racing driver. cut to sebastian getting interviewed as a child saying "i would like to- no, i want to become an f1 driver"
