Wet side story becomes Lela queen of the beach because Mack shows her the real world and that she can be whoever she wants to be and she takes the advice to heart and uses it to change their reality.

Mack’s grandad in the first movie says about how all members of their family found their destiny on the board. So what if the same type of thing happened to Mack’s grandad, great grandad and great great grandad and they’re protecting the family secret which is the ‘legends of the board’ they all grew up with stories about.

Also what changed in 5 generations that Mack’s the only girl (to our knowledge) who’s destiny is shown by the board.
