Horse Rant
ok listen horses are fucking insane theyre smart, like dog smart, but they are so soft and lovely yes this is my horse girl moment fight me. HOWEVER they are also MENACES. My aunt's friend was putting away a horse in a barn and when she turned to close the barn door the horse ran up to her and BIT her BACK. Have you ever SEEN horse teeth??? Theyre MASSIVE!!!! And the horse BIT HER omg i cant. Horses just decide to bite every once in a while and it is TERRIFYING how much damage they can do like wtf wtf wtf wtf???? Horses can tell if youre sure of yourself and riding a horse actually helped with my anxiety a few years ago since i was nervous but you cant let the horse know that so you have to both ACT and LOOK not anxious because the horse can literally tell by the tone of you voice, posture, etc, etc, if you dont know what youre doing and will TAKE OVER for you and will REFUSE to listen to your commands. It's like some wild fake it till you make it shit like wtf wtf wtf??? Anyway horses are great and scary and theyre like extreme weather theyre so pretty but if you dont respect them youll get your ass handed to you thank you for coming to my TED talk

I like to think that Tim’s parents never let him grow his hair out and when he moves into Wayne manor he’s mildly terrified that they’ll make him cut his hair too, and is amazed when they don’t. He damn near has a panic attack the first time someone sees that it’s getting long and asks if he wants to get it cut. But they never make him cut it, not even when it’s long enough put in a ponytail.
I have this fic scene in my head where someone, maybe Damian once he’s warmed up to Tim, starts bleaching his hair in his sleep as a prank and he has a full blown panic attack. He attacks the heck out of whoever’s doing it and starts hyperventilating when someone grabs him and holds him back.
ok i love long hair!tim as much as the next person (fuck batman: arkham knight) but oh do i love the idea that he never really gets to explore that part of himself until he moves into wanye manor.
like imagine you've got this poor little kid, who's terrified of so many things that he should just. not be scared of (tim w/no rational fears + tim w/all the non-rational fears). retaliating to a suggestion of a haircut being one of them.
he's moved into this new place where the people are more accepting and willing to show love than anyone in his life has ever been. he's slowly but surely learning to undo all the past notions he holds about what would happen if he 'disobeyed' or made honest mistakes. but among the few things he just can't let go off, it's this whole thing about his hair.
so when bruce makes some offhand comment about 'we should probably take you to the barbers at some point' and tim completely freezes next to him, he stops and asks '..do you want to get your hair cut?' and when tim can't even open his mouth to give his honest answer, bruce just shrugs his shoulders and says 'no big deal, just let me or alfred know if you ever do'. tim is gobsmacked.
his head reels wondering why he wasn't scolded for not agreeing, or had his silence taken as 'wanting to look feral', and reprimanded for that as well. i don't think he really accepts it as completely okay right then and there though.
he takes it more a warning that they're noticing his hair's length, and that it will certainly need to be cut when they pay enough attention to see it again. so he styles it to look as short as he can get it, and wears a lot of hats for the time being. until one day when it's well and truly at his shoulders, alfred comments 'your hair looks nice today master timothy', and it takes tim just more than a split second to realise the compliment was genuine. i think that's when he lets the fear go.
although that doesn't stop him from freaking out when a villain's weapon slices through or yanks out some of his hair, or when he's in a vulnerable enough state (tired, hurt, etc) and someone mentions cutting his hair. the fear might not be there constantly lingering in the back of his head anymore, but it definitely pops up when he least expects it to.

Magic Intro 101 with Kaye and Jude
While re-reading Tithe I noticed Kaye’s intro to magic has a few parallels with the scene where Jude wakes Van.
Kaye had accidentally used magic before and Jude may have used it to save herself. I suspect the Land granted her magic while saving her instead of Jude saving herself, but I digress.
Both Kaye and Jude describe it as prickly like getting in touch with nettles.
“It feels like when your hand falls asleep and then you move it. Prickly, like you said, like little shocks of energy shooting through it. It hurts a little.” Tithe “I feel once again that strange sensation of being stung all over with nettles.” TQoN
It's interesting Kaye focuses the magic on her hands while Jude just feels the magic all over. I read it as just down to the fact that Kaye is being instructed to do so. They both pictured it, which according to the Kelpie is the easiest way to start.
“You pictured it. That is the easiest of the senses. Now you must learn to hear it, to smell it, to taste it. Only then will your magic become real.(...)” Tithe “ I imagine the earth under me, imagine the power of it seeping up through the soles of my feet. I picture it filling my body.” TQoN
But now comes the harder part. A trust exercise for Jude. In Jude’s mind, it sounds more like a command than surrendering to the magic because she has trust issues. Many trust issues.
“To do magic, you must focus on what it is you want to do, then let go of the energy and trust it to do your bidding.”, Tithe "The Ghost puts his hand on my shoulder, steps as close as he did when instructing me in the art of murder. His voice is soft. “Jude, stop trying to force it. Let it come." TQoN
Totally a theory, but I think Ghost and the other fae would wrongly assume Jude had enough context on how to wield magic from being raised with the gentry and watching them practice enchantments. But Jude probably was distracted thinking about 10 ways to kill a guy and/or what was Cardan wearing that day. Edit because this isn't long enough: we are told Kaye is building magical energy. Jude might be pulling it from the Land instead of generating, it's not very clear to me.

the thing thats always missing in conversations about gender in general is the fact that 'cis', as an identity, is not a innate Thing Some People Are, but rather a state of acceptance society grooms us into from birth
#im sorry but no one is inherently 'cis' bc gender is inherently not real (saying this in cool trans way not transphobe way).#being 'cis' just means you live as the gender youve been assigned. being 'genuinely' cis in a way where youre not repressing anything and#you're truly happy to be that way means you're the ideal and desired endgame of the whole gendered culture and have been successfully#groomed into accepting only half of yourself (the half that can exist in the gender role you inhabit)#Like every culture agrees that people have both 'masculine' and 'feminine' within them but on entry to the earth the vast majority of peopl#are placed within a role that rewards either 'masculine' or 'feminine' but not both. and of course everyone continues to be both but#theyve still been placed in one role.#To be honest i think we need to rid ourselves of the idea of gender as something innate even though its nice to teach to well-meaning#liberal cis people. 'born this way' dogma was a useful vehicle to pitch existence in but its unhelpful when queer people actually act like#its the whole truth and nothing but the truth.#dont get me wrong i couldnt be a girl cause i self destructed and died and that was just something within me. totally that is a thing 100%.#hashtag born this way. but just because it doesnt go that far for some people doesnt mean that theyre Innately Cis. it means they accept#their circumstance and r priviledged to be able to do so. thats what cis means#to be clear: i say being cis is the result of grooming. thats not to say that people who reject cisness are smarter or more radical#necessarily or doing the right thing. some people stay cis and push the boundaries of that role wherever possible and thats just as radical#i think in fact its more radical than trans people who ruthlessly uphold gender roles#tldr its not a moral failure to identify with ur assigned gender and to argue that would be incredibly ridiculous#but the only reason u feel identification with it at all is because of the grooming. shrug emoji.#oliver talks#gender#gender abolition#gender assignment is grooming & its violence & its awful#ted talk over#Disclaimer if anyone wants to pick a fight that i do literally identify as trans so take of that what you will

so no one told you life was gonna be this way
don't mind the title lol
I am so starved of Cars 2 content and it's such a niche fandom I often find it hard to find what itches the ol' scratch.
(And no, I do not choose my hyper fixations nor my special interests, sometimes they just disappear and return when I least expect them).
I would like it if people could recommend me some good fics (Wattpad is almost hopeless for this stuff), or a possible collaboration so the situation isn't entirely dire?
This whole thing is a ramble since I'm desperate, lol
anyway bye

I probably don't need to explain myself at all but I've been finding out I'm ND these past few years after wondering why I'm a different flavor of human than everyone else.
I'm really bad at interaction even online but I love reading all of your replies and tags on posts. I don't mean to seem antisocial. I just don't know how to communicate. BUT I do pay attention to things and remember people who are always on my dash :-)

hopeless time loop. the way out isn’t to save everyone. the way out isn’t to save even one person. the way out isn’t to change anything. the way out is accepting how it happened the first time is how it always will be. that’s how you acted, that’s how they acted, that’s how you would have acted every time if you weren’t given the curse of hindsight. the way out is accepting you can’t fix the past; you can only forgive yourself for it.

Why do I keep seeing transmascs and trans men insisting or implying that all trans men are "female socialized," or "understand the female experience," or "navigated the world as a woman." Because yeah, sure, that can be true for some people. especially if you weren't gnc at all as a kid and didn't crack your egg until well into adulthood, it makes sense.
But they don't stop at saying they had that experience. It always comes with an addendum that trans men, as a group, all can relate to this experience. I don't know about the entirety of my demographic, but I never got even a little bit of what some of them talk about. I didn't even believe that women were scared of going out at night until I kept consistently seeing them say it, online or wherever, for years. I never realized catcalling was a thing until I saw some women complaining about it on reddit.
But they posit it as some sort of, you're safer than cis men, right? You know what it's like? Which, on top of being patently, demonstrably false in the case of myself and many other trans men, holds some unpleasant and often outright hostile implications about trans women. And they always deny it, but if you can't even conceptualize someone like me who grew up gnc, and never got the bulk (or any?) of whatever we consider to be 'female socialization,' what does that say about what you think trans girls went through, growing up? I don't want to speak for them, as I've never experienced that firsthand, but I can guarantee that (if you're even a little bit obviously trans) people don't treat you like a cis kid of the opposite gender. By and large, they don't get treated like cis boys.
It just makes me mad that we're taking this inaccurate framework that (ever so conveniently) puts trans people into the box of our assumed birth gender, and trying to fancy it up and use it with a faux-progressive veneer; never mind the way that transphobes use it to bar trans women from being athletes, or using the bathroom, or having access to any gendered resources they need. It would be bad enough to try and dust it off and use it even if it were largely accurate, due to the aforementioned connections to outright transphobia, but it literally is patently false. Not in all cases, obviously, but why are we trying to revamp this untrue, inaccurate generalization and pretend that we can make it 'trans-inclusive?'

yknow what really gets me? the fact that we all seem to think that robin doesn’t enjoy jock things. while she’s canonically seen enjoying and cheering at the basketball game in s4 and more importantly, SHE PLAYS SOCCER!!!! she literally says so in s3?!!!! don’t come at me with your “robin is a music nerd ONLY” because she’s so much more than that!! and we should explore soccer player robin in fics bc i’m pretty sure whoever you ship her with will have an aneurysm watching her play soccer
