[It had been eight years since the apocalypse had started. There wasn’t any electricity, any running water.. there wasn’t any people. Ted had become Peter’s primary caretaker after The Cloud has killed their parents all those years ago, right when everything started to go down. It felt like centuries ago now. As for now, they lived in a stolen house in an abandoned block, hunting and stealing for supplies and food. Although, was it really stealing if everyone was dead?

Ted ties up his hair into a ponytail, sighing and checking himself for any injury before walking into the living room to his fourteen year old brother. It’s the crack of dawn, a start of another long day of work..]

[ ted walks into pete’s hospital room, precariously balancing a sizable stack of gifts. they threaten to topple as he walks in, but he manages to keep them balanced enough. ]

[ he says from behind the stack, shuffling over to the seat next to his bed. ]

sorry i couldn’t be here yesterday, i was working things out with the hospital and shit, plus a whole load of other stuff, and by the time i decided to bring your presents over visiting hour was already over, so.

[ he huffs, looking guiltily up at pete. all he’d managed yesterday was a quick ‘happy birthday, ily’ message. ]
