Christmas shopping in Tesco. Lomo LC-A. Kentmere Pan 100.
Every year I tell myself that I will get my Christmas shopping done and dusted early. I have heard people claim to have everything bought and wrapped in September! This year I was not too late but also not early enough to avoid the crowds.
I had my LC-A in the glove box when I visited my local Tesco and thought I'd see how a low iso film coped with the lighting conditions inside a supermarket. I don't think it fared too badly.
My goal for next year it to have all my purchases done before the supermarket puts up decorations.

I only seem to write you here when I’m incoherently tired so sorry in advance.
Im thinking about the wonder that hob and dream look on the world with together. Mr “they invented chimneys” and mr “I’ve never been a human and was locked in a fishbowl for the largest boom of human technical innovation” find joy in /everything/. Running water?? That’s hot?? Every type of food from the whole world available in a ten minute walk??? The fucking internet???? You can call a helpline if you’re sad??? Super tall buildings??? Making tea together every morning and there’s so many kinds? They wake up on different brightly colored sheets each day because dye is no longer as expensive as gold. Dream takes the tube so much he becomes a local cryptid. They stand and hold hands in the national portrait gallery. They watch every rocket launch livestream, no matter what time. They look on Hobs young students with joy. There’s new kinds of bread to eat, new shows opening. New languages to learn (for hob at least) new technology to break with his presence (for dream). There’s cat cafes and science museums and tesco and so many books coming out every day. They love the world together
-🦐
Oh I'm so soft about them!!
I'm convinced that sometimes Hob just has to go lie down on the floor and have a little cry over the sheer availability of THINGS. Abundance is the ultimate joy for any hedonist, let alone one who's been around since 1389. Imagine the delight he takes in Poundland, in international food buffets, in public transportation!! I'm fully convinced that one of Hob’s greatest love affairs is with the London Underground. It's there, under your feet! All the time! You can travel to the other side of town (not necessarily quickly, but it's quicker than walking... sometimes).
Mr Depression Personified, freshly unfishbowled Dream of the Endless, is gonna seem like he just took a fat dose of Duloxetine every time he hangs out with Hob. The joy is bone deep, and so infectious. Watching Hobplay Just Dance at 3am because he just remembered that he owns a Wii genuinely heals some part of Dream that shattered long, long ago.
Imagine what it's like for Hob, as well. Spending time with someone who knows that he's actually a medieval peasant who's lived well past his sell-by date. He gets to be honest in his excitement for things like ibuprofen and chocolate flavoured vodka. He can go to museums with Dream, and Dream will understand why he gets that distant misty look in his eyes when he sees a certain familiar object.
Other people can stare or laugh at Hob’s joy, but Dream will never do that. Its never silly or funny to see Hob rave about some entirely ordinary object, it's just. Important. And quite beautiful. For Dream, it's possibly the most beautiful thing in the world.

redacted characters working in tescos
born from discord… this works for any large supermarket really. this is so long and for what
vincent: he works at self checkouts and gets a lot of enjoyment from iding old ladies to make them feel young again. talks too much and takes forever to help people but he’s pretty so you don’t get mad
lovely: maintenance team. always gets called down to fix the perpetually broken self checkout system but they’re starting to suspect it’s not an accident anymore
sam: he works in the warehouse . registered first aider except he’s never on the shop floor so he never does anything . somehow on really good terms with all of the delivery drivers. is starting to get really freaked out by that one security guard who keeps wandering around in the back
darlin: security guard except they never really do the job properly… like they’re skulking around dark corridors and corners looking for “threats” and david is like can you please just chase after that shoplifter
david: head security guard he likes to stand at the front desk by the doors and just cross his arms and scowl. it’s working spectacularly on deterring crime
angel: works at the customer service front desk and LOVES it. absolutely refuses to be antagonised they’re so 😁😁 even at the rudest of customers. another person who talks too much to be doing a good job. gossips to the customers about store goings-on. keeps trying to engage the grumpy security guard by their desk in conversation with varying levels of success
asher: yeah he’s another security guard what do you expect. but he’s constantly on the move he’s strolling about the store like he owns the place chatting up all the workers and the customers. everyone knows him and loves him but if you even think about shoplifting anything or starting a fight with a worker he’s right behind you “what are you doing there buddy 😆”
babe: shelf-stacker but not in a boring way. genuinely a monster at packing out it is insane. their aisles are so neat and tidy and they’re so fast. that one worker who knows exactly where everything is it’s like they live in the place. so good at their job and isn’t distracted by anything. except maybe one person.
milo: security guard who wants to have the same easygoing respect that asher gets but is far too easily antagonised by kids to earn. saturday afternoons are the worst when all the kids are off of school they come into the store just to piss him off because it’s so easy “now you listen here you little…”
sweetheart: they work in the phone shop! they’re kind of intimidating to talk to but they will help you and only judge you a little bit for not knowing technology. everyone would rather talk to them than the other worker (marcus). has formed an alliance with the kids that come in on saturdays “i’m going to give you this old phone and tell that guard that you’re stealing it, i’ll let you keep it if you make him trip when he’s chasing you”
gavin: slutting it out on the tills. i’m deadly serious he will flirt with everyone who passes through. “do you have a clubcard” has never sounded so sultry before. he’s actually decent at his job but recently he’s been told off several times for getting distracted staring at a certain worker who seems to just be doing everything… maybe it’s time he got trained in other departments
freelancer: multiskiller 🤩 literally another one who seems like they’ve been there forever and just knows how to do everything. they’ve stacked shelves, packed dotcom orders, worked checkouts… freelancer likes the variety and getting to know people in every department
damien: also at the customer service desk AGAINST HIS WISHES and in complete contrast to angel he absolutely hates it and you can so tell. management put him there because he’s so dedicated to the job and well organised and he SEEMS like he would be good at it… but every day damien’s patience is tested to the max. it’s so obvious when a customer is pissing him off. will SNATCH an item out of your hand if you are trying to return it. “what do you mean you didn’t bring your receipt 😑😐”
huxley: works in produce and loves it! super good at lifting all the heavy crates of vegetables. talks to all the loose fruit and vegetables he gets a few weird looks but it is cute. says hey to EVERYONE on his way in especially that one guy at the front desk who always looks like he’s about to pop a vein. no one knows when or why those two starting taking their breaks together but it is certainly a cute sight.
lasko: he works in bakery!!! he used to work on the shop floor but it was too stressful so the nice people from bakery kind of adopted him. likes the routine of making things and then packaging them up. plus minimal customer interaction = he just daydreams for a lot of his shift. although sometimes customers manage to get a hold of him to ask him something and he completely blue-screens. he’s trying his best.
lasko’s listener: for some reason i see them in dairy section in like the fridges? one time they got trapped BRIEFLY in the warehouse fridge with a certain bakery worker. they huddled together for warmth. #sorrynotsorry
kody: petrol station. no one in the main store wants to look at him
guy: delivery driver of course! used to work as a shelf stacker but got a warning for “checking for you in the back ☺️” (sitting in the back on his phone) he was so hopeless when he first got the driver job and got lost all the time but now he’s pretty dependable. will flaunt his little reflective jacket constantly. will also constantly flirt with the hot person working dispatch
honey: the aforementioned hot person working dispatch aka who loads all the delivery trays onto the vans. they really just wanted a job where they could stick their earphones in, do manual labour and not talk to anyone alas this infuriating delivery driver won’t stop bothering them. they’re making out in the back as we speak.
geordi: another shelf-stacker! like lasko, he gets super nervous when people ask him questions on where things are, but he can handle it. usually. more than once has sent someone in the wrong direction and tortured himself over it for the rest of the day. gets a really cute concentrating face when he’s in the zone working so please don’t interrupt him!!!
cutie: works in the clothing section! they look good even in their uniform so you feel kind of nervous when they’re just staring at you picking out some clothes. offers unsolicited opinions but they’re always really helpful so it’s fine. struts about with that clothing rail like it’s their god-given birthright
quinn: cleaner who always gets stuck doing the toilets. takes too many vape breaks
#WHY WAS THIS SO LONG#also the way i have like no one stacking shelves or on tills sorry#i had to make the shaw pack into security guards how can you not#also me barely talking about my own department… i’m beating the self obsessed allegations slowly but surely#redacted audio#redacted asmr#solaire clan#shaw pack#damn crew#redacted guy#redacted geordi#my headcanons

More Than Friends: part 1
I never understood why they asked. Why every time I was around her, the question "Are you two dating?" would pop up. No, I'd reply. We're just friends. And we are, just friends that is. But that doesn't stop the butterflies when she looks at me with a certain expression. It doesn't stops the butterflies when she entwines our fingers at a party. And it certainly doesn't stop the butterflies when we're alone in her room, her arms around me and her head on my chest. The butterflies don't stop, I've tried.
I was twenty seven when we met. She was twenty six. I was working a full time job as a social media executive in the city, for a start up company selling vintage clothing. You see, I'm what you would call a creative. I love to make things. Photography, videography, graphics, that kind of thing. I used to be a painter as a kid, but I grew out of that when I discovered technology. And that's my passion, making visual things that others can enjoy. I write scripts too, though the majority of them need filing under BIN. Anyway, i'm going on a tangent. I was testing out my new camera, a Canon EOS 750D DSLR, in the reception of the local TV studio when a girl stopped me to ask for directions to the closest cafe with good coffee.
'Walk out of the car park, turn right at the exit, follow the street until you reach the library and it's next door. If you reach Tesco, you've gone too far', I say.
She thanks me, and heads on her way. I never think another second of it, this happens often.
Two nights later, it's a Friday night and I'm heading to a party being hosted by a girl I've spoken all but two words to, but she's a friend of the girl I'm dating so I agree to attend. We arrive around 9pm and I'm dragged straight into the garden where I see a group of around 8 girls sat in a circle on the grass. Nicole, the girl I'm seeing, says her hello's and introduces me to her friends.
'This is Sheree' she says to everyone, 'The girl I was telling you about'.
I smirk at that. A huge, shit eating grin actually and she notices, rolling her eyes at me. She asks if I'd like a drink, to which I say yes, but I'll get them, and she points me in the direction of the kitchen. I leave her with her friends and head in the direction she gave, finding myself in an american styled kitchen area. Bottles everywhere. It was like a scene from Skins. I grab two bottles of Budweiser, and search for a bottle opener. 'There MUST be one around here somewhere', I think to myself.
'Here' I hear from my left, 'You might need this'.
Looking over, I see a girl with short blonde hair waving a bottle opener at me. I take it, thanking her for her help and opening the bottles in my hand.
'So, this might sound weird...' she starts. I raise my eyebrows at her, causing her to grin at me, 'but aren't you the girl from the studio a few days ago?'
For the first time, I properly look at her. She was right. She was the girl I gave the directions to.
'Uh, coffee girl, right?' I ask. She grins again.
'That's me, though I hope the nickname doesn't stick...' There's an awkward silence before she continues, 'I'm Florence'
I nod in response, "Sheree'
'Nice to officially meet you. Your directions are shit, by the way. I hit Tesco'
'Oh, fuck. Sucks to be you, I guess'
I shrug at her. Florence again grins at me. She's making a habit out of that. I like it.
'So, what brings you to these neck of the woods? No offence, but you don't sound like you're from around here'
'A project' She pauses, choosing her words carefully, 'I'm an actor"
'Ah, a stripper' I tease.
'Fuck off' She laughs, which was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard, 'Ive been doing voice acting at the studio I saw you at...'
I'm impressed. To me there is nothing more attractive than a girl with a talent. I look at her closely, taking in every detail of her face, trying to work out if I would know her, but nothing came to mind.
'Would I know anything you've been in?' I ask her curiously.
'Maybe, maybe not' She shrugs at me, 'I-'
Just then, I felt two arms wrap around my waist and a chin rest on my shoulder. Nicole. Florences smile faulted slightly, before she turned her attention to the new arrival.
'Hi! You must be Sheree's... girl...?... friend...?' she paused between each word, unsure of how to go about the situation. We both knew she was flirting with me before, and now the situation had turned awkward. Not my girlfriend. Not my girlfriend. Not. My. Girlfriend.
'We're not quite at that stage yet, but maybe someday.' Nicole replies, before taking her drink from my hand, 'Thanks, kid' she kisses my cheek before skipping back outside to her friends. You're welcome, kid.
Florence furrowed her brows as we watched her leave. When she was out of sight, I turned again and caught Florence looking at me curiously. Not for the first time tonight either.
'She seems...'
'A lot' I interrupt.
'Nice' she continues.
I grin at her, taking a sip of my drink. She giggles, and I swear my heart nearly exploded. I'd found my new favourite sound.

A Simple Fate https://ift.tt/x1sqBTA by lizz505 "She was smiling like an insane person. He liked it. "What do you feel about me?" "I'm obsessed, I'm infatuated, I desire you." "That's a lie." Industry trend|A solution provider for the world's top three retailers is studying the use of RFID
Driven by the wave of digitalization, Fabacus, a global data and technology company, is leading retailers and brands into a new era of Digital Product Passport (DPP) compliance with its innovative solutions. As the European Commission proposes new regulations on DPP, Fabacus, with its deep industry experience and advanced technical means, provides the market with a complete set of solutions to help companies easily cope with the upcoming compliance challenges.
Since its establishment six years ago, Fabacus has been committed to providing services and software platforms, including licensing, to retailers and brands. Faced with the compliance requirements of DPP, Fabacus responded quickly and developed a solution called Xelacore. This solution provides unique item-level identification for products through QR code technology, allowing retailers and brands to easily meet the DPP's requirements for product traceability. Tesco, one of the world's three largest retailers, has taken the lead in adopting this solution and applied it to the F&F clothing series, providing consumers with more transparent and reliable product information.
Fusion of RFID and NFC technologies
In addition to QR codes, Fabacus is also actively exploring the fusion of RFID and NFC technologies. Founder and CEO Andrew Xeni said the company is working with several companies that already use RFID technology for inventory tracking, and plans to use Fabacus's solution to make these RFID tags meet the requirements of DPP at the same time. This hybrid solution not only improves the efficiency of inventory management, but also provides consumers with a more convenient way to access DPP data. For example, consumers can easily obtain detailed information about product materials and manufacturing history by scanning the QR code or NFC tag on the product with their mobile phone.
In addition to DPP compliance, Fabacus also pays attention to the new requirements for retailers and brands put forward by the Sustainable Product Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR) issued by the European Commission. The regulation aims to improve the sustainability and circularity of products and requires companies to provide detailed information about the product life cycle, including environmental impact, repair instructions, disposal and recycling methods, etc. Fabacus integrates and displays this information in a digital way through its system to help companies and consumers better understand and practice the concept of sustainable development.
Initially, Fabacus's solution focused on the intellectual property licensing industry for brands and retailers. By creating a record system for each new product, Fabacus helps customers protect their intellectual property and revenue and prevent the emergence of counterfeit products. However, as the market changes and new regulations such as the DPP are introduced, Fabacus quickly adjusted its strategic direction and reshaped itself into a provider of DPP compliance and licensing. Xeni said that the technology they have built is very suitable for solving DPP compliance issues and will play an increasingly important role after the DPP legislation comes into effect.
Looking forward, Fabacus will continue to leverage its technological advantages and market insights to provide retailers and brands with more comprehensive and efficient DPP compliance solutions. Through the integrated application of technologies such as RFID, NFC and QR codes, Fabacus will further improve the efficiency of data collection and processing, and provide enterprises and consumers with more convenient and reliable product information query services. At the same time, as the world's attention to sustainable development and circular economy continues to increase, Fabacus will continue to pay attention to the dynamic changes of regulations such as ESPR, and provide enterprises with more comprehensive compliance support and services.

A grocery store is more than just a place but also a community hub.
Grocery stores are an integral part of daily life, serving as the primary source for food and household essentials. They come in various forms, from large supermarkets to small corner shops, each catering to different needs and preferences.
At the heart of a grocery store’s appeal is its convenience. Large supermarkets, such as those operated by chains like Walmart, Kroger, and Tesco, offer a one-stop shopping experience. They typically feature a wide range of products, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, packaged goods, and even household items and pharmaceuticals. These stores are designed to accommodate diverse customer needs, often incorporating specialty sections for organic products, international foods, and dietary-specific items. This variety allows customers to find virtually everything they need under one roof, saving time and effort.
Smaller, independent grocery stores or neighborhood markets provide a different kind of convenience. Though they might not offer the same breadth of products as larger chains, they often excel in personal service and local produce. Many of these stores focus on providing fresh, high-quality items and may feature local or artisanal products not found in big-box stores. They also often have a strong community focus, supporting local farmers and producers, and contributing to the local economy.
The rise of online grocery shopping has significantly impacted the grocery retail landscape. Services like Amazon Fresh, Instacart, and Walmart’s online grocery service allow customers to shop from the comfort of their homes and have their groceries delivered directly to their doorsteps. This convenience has made online grocery shopping increasingly popular, especially for those with busy schedules or mobility issues. The shift towards e-commerce has also led traditional grocery stores to adapt by offering click-and-collect options, where customers can order online and pick up their groceries at a designated time.
Grocery stores have also become more focused on sustainability and health. Many stores are implementing eco-friendly practices such as reducing plastic usage, offering reusable bags, and focusing on local and organic products. The demand for healthier food options has led to an increased presence of organic, gluten-free, and plant-based products. Stores are responding by expanding their offerings to include more health-conscious choices and clearer nutritional information.
The layout and design of grocery stores play a crucial role in the shopping experience. Stores are typically arranged to guide customers through different sections in a logical sequence, often starting with fresh produce, moving through meat and dairy, and ending with non-perishable items. This layout not only helps with the efficiency of the shopping process but also encourages customers to make impulse purchases, as products like snacks and beverages are often strategically placed along the path.
In recent years, grocery stores have increasingly incorporated technology to enhance the shopping experience. Self-checkout stations, digital price tags, and mobile apps for managing shopping lists and promotions are becoming more common. These innovations aim to streamline the checkout process, reduce wait times, and provide customers with more control over their shopping experience.
Overall, grocery stores are much more than just places to buy food. They are hubs of convenience, community, and innovation, reflecting broader trends in technology, sustainability, and consumer preferences. As the retail landscape continues to evolve, grocery stores will likely continue adapting to meet the changing needs and expectations of their customers.
