so digitals just went up for the con this weekend 👀 for the uninitiated/non con attendees, basically if you get a photo op they print a copy instantly and then a few days later they upload the digital versions so you can have an online version to get reprints done, photoshop, whatever your little nerdy heart desires

anyway when i went to get my photo with brandon on saturday, he asked them to retake the picture because he wasn't smiling properly on it. and usually if they have to do a retake they'll destroy the first one, or whichever one you don't want, which i assume they did with the physical copy.

i never saw the second picture on the day because i was happy with how the first picture turned out so i just took that and assumed they'd destroy/delete the retake, but they just posted the digitals online and they posted them both 👀 so i got a second £50 picture with brandon for free!!

i love reading things set in countries that i'm knowledgeable and/or have been to because i can point out really minor errors in fanfiction. i think the average american does not know that in england (and apparently some of asia! which i only just found out) there are switches on power outlets so you can just turn it off instead of unplugging it. like 9 times out of 10 that won't come up but on the off chance it does i'm like ohoho. this clown has never been to england...! my favorite part though is watching americans (specifically americans because i swear to god people who speak english as a second language and/or are from any other country have some idea of what it's like to have an accent / personally know people who have accents? idk) try to write british accents like it is REALLY funny. i literally only lived their for five years and i never picked up a full accent myself (certain words and tones i did but they're mostly gone after living in the states again for a few years) but between living there and having a ridiculous amount of family there & visiting them often (like once a year if im lucky) i like KNOW what british accents sound like. i think some americans genuinely dont even know theres more than one or two english accents i think some people think there's like posh english and chav english and nothing else. maybe scottish accent gets thrown in there if they remember the uk is not in fact just england. i would bet real money they've never heard a welsh accent. anyway my point is it's really funny watching people who don't know as much as i do write this stuff. like i see it and i understand how doctors read this and go Oh that is so medically inaccurate. i get them now. anyway i dont remember what my point here was but please know if you are attempting to write a british accent. reddit and youtube are your best friends if you don't have a british friend you can ask and also rest assured even if you do ONE google search. it will not be the worst attempt ive seen guaranteed

naming ocs is such a struggle in general but its especially a struggle when you want to name ur ocs realistic stuff thats of non white and/or non english speaking origin because like if ur a foolish monolingual english speaker like myself u gotta constantly outrun the churned out baby naming website listicles of non-english names listed with meanings they either garbled through a game of telephone at best or just straight made up at worst while trying to find any research source u can read thats half decent. fighting for my life out here

AND LIKE its not like i can ask any friends and acquaintances about this stuff like HOW do i ask some work buddy like hey. what culturally thoughtful name should i give my funny little cartoon guy. thank you and goodnight I CANT i cant do it orz

of course i dont mind a weird made-up name on occasion, but like. and this might be more important to me in particular as i am some kinda vaguely ambiguous mixed race person with very noticeably "ethnic" name for the north american country i live in who also has like 389423053742 vaguely ambiguous mixed race ocs but. you know. i love my oc Sci. and I love that his name is Sci short for Science Fiction. and I love that he's a second generation iranian canadian named Sci pronounced Sai short for Science Fiction. but a real human name would be nice sometimes too LOL

do not think for a second my technical yuusona comes from a normal world. fun fact: i love tokusatsu, specifically ultraman. i may have an au where isekai my favorite ultraman to twst but shhhhhhh.

anyways, yuu comes from the ultraman world. kaiju are a normal occurrence at this point and they actually have the qualifications to join the the defense force against the kaiju since they took the test. he was actually waiting until he was old enough to join but then she got sent to twisted wonderland. it does explain a lack of reaction to a lot of stuff like overblot monsters and magic.

anyways, what i'm trying to say here is that between the powerpoint cater made and peer pressure from their friends in a discord call while said friends were evacuating bc of a kaiju, she made the social media accounts for nrc using his world's social media. oh boy,,,

Sometimes you’re at stage door, and you’re literally the only person there, and it’s in a weird back alley and you wait for over twenty minutes and only two actors come out and they’re really sweet, and they leave, and you’re about to go home too.

And then one of the actors comes back and says “I don’t think anyone else is coming out they’ve all gone to the bar” - which is fair enough, so you’ll just go home.

And then he continues with “it’s just round the corner, come on you can meet them there.”

So you go to the bar, have the most surreal fifteen minutes of your life, and then just have to … go home after it all.

Thinking about my totally awesome and not unnecessarily complex song fic/animatic idea involving my au and Lear but not my amazing cool Hoopa!Lear just a normal one and this thing will probably never be made because it is so insanely spoilery for the end of my first au fic which will take forever to finish but at the same time

Great angst potential on every front regarding the sequel especially Hoopa!Lear so info dump under the cut maybe I'll try to storyboard a bit of it soon

Laying the ground rules for the au here- pokemon hybrids, multiverse, 10,000 year time skip after the (very different) events of diamond and pearl, this is 3 months after the conclusion of that au in which an organization referred to as the U.P.A. (Universal Protection Agency) has been enstated with the goal of preventing reality from ever getting that fucked again (it was bad)

The song itself is Dead! by MCR which...no twists here you know someone's gonna die, the fic focuses on the protagonist of my au (my beautiful bird boy Akagi, who's named after Cyrus but isn't him and but is kind of his son but also isn't) who's been tasked with assassinating a version of Lear that didn't die when he was supposed to (very bad for Reality she doesn't like that)

But uh oh! Young Prince? Assassination? That's really familiar! Akagi doesn't have the balls to kill a guy in the same way he himself died, uh oh spoilers for that plot point good thing it's chapter 1 and said chapter should be posted to ao3 as soon as this heatwave stops and I can fucking think again and finish the second

He tries to do it anyways, given a 2 week time period before someone else has to step in, but uh oh again! Akagi's getting attached! Now it's even harder to kill this guy

Too bad so sad has to happen BUT what matters most is the angst potential

Because Hoopa!Lear was one of many people who saw Akagi get assassinated (and also missed the entire plot so will be very confused to see him alive and well in the sequel) so that can be revealed and then Akagi with his shit social skills would be like 'That's so funny I just failed at killing a version of you' and because this isn't normal at all it can create issues I can elaborate on severely

This is outside of song fic territory but it ties in both to the sequel plot and my horrific cringe oc x canon side plot sorry it's a legal requirement for people to have to slog through my self fan service for my definitely amazing writing that's why there's 3 versions of Cyrus in the first fic and also why I rewrote the entire lore leading up to the first to include more Volkner, sorry again, if I don't throw everything I have at the wall some poor sap will have to personally listen to me infodump please I love talking to people so much please I promise I'm not cringe
